This is the Hebrew Book of Mormon: the whole book, 1 Nephi to Moroni, rendered into pre-exilic Classical Biblical Hebrew, the register of Isaiah and Jeremiah, the language Nephi says his father spoke in Jerusalem before the exile. Not Modern Hebrew. Where the English has always read “and it came to pass”, the Hebrew reads וַיְהִי; where it says “covenant”, בְּרִית, the word Abram heard at the covenant of the pieces. The translation is the work of one hand, Chris Lambe.

Every word carries its English gloss beneath it, so a reader with a little Hebrew can follow the line word by word, and a reader with none can see how the book sounds in the tongue it claims for itself. The chapters below are plain pages: the Hebrew, the gloss under each word, and the English verse beside it. The interlinear reader adds transliteration, the root of every word, cross-references into the Tanakh, notes and read-aloud.
