   The words of Jacob, the brother of Nephi, which he spake unto the people of Nephi:

   Behold, my beloved brethren, I, Jacob, having been called of God, and ordained after the manner of his holy order, and having been consecrated by my brother Nephi, unto whom ye look as a king or a protector, and on whom ye depend for safety, behold ye know that I have spoken unto you exceedingly many things.

   Nevertheless, I speak unto you again; for I am desirous for the welfare of your souls. Yea, mine anxiety is great for you; and ye yourselves know that it ever has been. For I have exhorted you with all diligence; and I have taught you the words of my father; and I have spoken unto you concerning all things which are written, from the creation of the world.

   And now, behold, I would speak unto you concerning things which are, and which are to come; wherefore, I will read you the words of Isaiah. And they are the words which my brother has desired that I should speak unto you. And I speak unto you for your sakes, that ye may learn and glorify the name of your God.

   And now, the words which I shall read are they which Isaiah spake concerning all the house of Israel; wherefore, they may be likened unto you, for ye are of the house of Israel. And there are many things which have been spoken by Isaiah which may be likened unto you, because ye are of the house of Israel.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֵלֶּהEL/lethese areהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe wordsכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysאֲדֹנָיA/do/NAYAdonaiיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֶשָּׂאes/SAI will lift upאֶל־גּוֹיִםel-go/YIMto the nationsיָדִיya/DImy handוְאֶל־עַמִּיםve/EL-am/MIMand to the peoplesאָרִיםa/RIMset upנִסִּיnis/SImy standardוְהֵבִיאוּve/he/VI/uand they shall bringבָנַיִךְva/NA/yikhyour sonsבְּחֹצֶןbe/CHO/tsenin their armsוּבְנֹתַיִךְu/ve/no/TA/yikhand your daughtersעַל־כָּתֵףal-ka/TEFon their shouldersתִּנָּשֶׂאנָה׃tin/na/SE/nashall be carried

   And now, these are the words: Thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people; and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.

   וְהָיוּve/ha/YUthen they shall beמְלָכִיםme/la/KHIMkingsאֹמְנַיִךְom/NA/yikhyour nursing fathersוְשָׂרוֹתֵיהֶםve/sa/ro/te/HEMand their queensמֵינִיקֹתַיִךְme/ni/ko/TA/yikhyour nursing mothersאַפַּיִםap/PA/yimwith their faceאֶרֶץE/retstowards the earthיִשְׁתַּחֲווּyish/ta/cha/VUthey shall bow downלָךְlakhto youוַעֲפַרva/a/FARand the dustרַגְלַיִךְrag/LA/yikhof your feetיְלַחֵכוּye/la/CHE/khuthey shall lick upוְיָדַעַתְּve/ya/DA/attand you shall knowכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIthat I amיְהֹוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֲשֶׁרa/SHERforלֹא־יֵבֹשׁוּlo-ye/VO/shuthey shall not be ashamedקֹוָי׃ko/VAYthat wait for me

   And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers; they shall bow down to thee with their faces towards the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the Lord; for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֲנִיa/NIIיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobאֲדַבְּרָהa/dab/be/RAwould speakמְעַטme/ATsomewhatעַל־הַדְּבָרִיםal-had/de/va/RIMconcerning the wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseכִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהֶרְאַנִיher/a/NIshowed meיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiכִּיkithatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthose whoהָיוּha/YUwereבִירוּשָׁלַיִםVi/ru/sha/LA/yimat Jerusalemאֲשֶׁרa/SHERfrom whereיָצָאנוּya/TSA/nuwe cameמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereנֶהֶרְגוּne/her/GUhave been slainוְנִשְׁבּוּ׃ve/nish/BUand carried away captive

   And now I, Jacob, would speak somewhat concerning these words. For behold, the Lord has shown me that those who were at Jerusalem, from whence we came, have been slain and carried away captive.

   אַךְakhneverthelessהֶרְאַנִיher/a/NIshowed meיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiכִּיkithatיָשׁוּבוּya/SHU/vuthey should returnעוֹדodagainוְגַםve/GAMand alsoהֶרְאַנִיher/a/NIshowed meכִּיkithatיֵרָאֶהye/ra/Eshould manifest himselfאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodקְדוֹשׁ־יִשְׂרָאֵלke/DOSH-Yis/ra/ELthe Holy One of Israelבַּבָּשָׂרbab/ba/SARin the fleshוְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterהֵרָאוֹתוֹhe/ra/o/TOshould manifest himselfיְיַסְּרוּהוּye/yas/se/ru/HUthey should scourge himוְיִתְלוּהוּve/yit/lu/HUand crucify himעַל־עֵץal-etsupon a treeכְּדִבְרֵיke/div/REaccording to the wordsהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHof the angelאֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרa/SHER-dib/BERwho spokeאֵלָי׃e/LAYto me

   Nevertheless, the Lord has shown unto me that they should return again. And he also has shown unto me that the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, should manifest himself unto them in the flesh; and after he should manifest himself they should scourge him and crucify him, according to the words of the angel who spake it unto me.

    וְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterהַקְשׁוֹתָםhak/sho/TAMthey hardenedאֶת־לִבָּםet-lib/BAMtheir heartsוְאֶת־עׇרְפָּםve/ET-or/PAMand their necksבִּקְדוֹשׁ־יִשְׂרָאֵלbik/DOSH-Yis/ra/ELagainst the Holy One of Israelהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיָבֹאוּya/VO/ushall comeמִשְׁפְּטֵיmish/pe/TEthe judgmentsקְדוֹשׁ־יִשְׂרָאֵלke/DOSH-Yis/ra/ELof the Holy One of Israelעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themוּבָאu/VAand shall comeהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיֻכּוּyuk/KUthey shall be smittenוִיעֻנּוּ׃vi/un/NUand afflicted

    And after they have hardened their hearts and stiffened their necks against the Holy One of Israel, behold, the judgments of the Holy One of Israel shall come upon them. And the day cometh that they shall be smitten and afflicted.

    לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהִנָּדְפָםhin/na/de/FAMthey are drivenהֵנָּהHEN/natoוָהֵנָּהva/HEN/naand froכִּי־כֵןki-khenfor thusאָמַרa/MARsaithהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelיְעֻנּוּye/un/NUshall be afflictedרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyבַּבָּשָׂרbab/ba/SARin the fleshוְלֹאve/LOand notיִנָּתְנוּyin/na/te/NUshall be sufferedלֶאֱבֹדle/e/VODto perishבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofתְּפִלּוֹתte/fil/LOTthe prayersהַנֶּאֱמָנִיםhan/ne/e/ma/NIMof the faithfulיָפוּצוּya/FU/tsuthey shall be scatteredוְיֻכּוּve/yuk/KUand smittenוְיִשָּׂנְאוּve/yis/sa/ne/Uand hatedאַךְakhneverthelessיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEwill beיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiחֶסֶדCHE/sedmercifulעִמָּםim/MAMunto themלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenיָבֹאוּya/VO/uthey shall comeלְדַעַתle/DA/atto the knowledgeאֶת־גֹּאֲלָםet-Go/a/LAMof their Redeemerיִקָּבְצוּyik/KAV/tsuthey shall be gatheredיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainאֶל־אַרְצוֹתel-ar/TSOTto the landsנַחֲלָתָם׃na/cha/la/TAMof their inheritance

    Wherefore, after they are driven to and fro, for thus saith the angel, many shall be afflicted in the flesh, and shall not be suffered to perish, because of the prayers of the faithful; they shall be scattered, and smitten, and hated; nevertheless, the Lord will be merciful unto them, that when they shall come to the knowledge of their Redeemer, they shall be gathered together again to the lands of their inheritance.

12. 12

    וּבָרוּכִיםu/va/ru/KHIMand blessed areהַגּוֹיִםhag/Go/YIMthe Gentilesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERtheyעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMof whomכָּתַבka/TAVwroteהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetכִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאִם־יָשׁוּבוּim-ya/SHU/vuif it so be that they shall repentוְלֹאve/LOand notיִלָּחֲמוּyil/la/cha/MUfightבְצִיּוֹןve/Tsiy/YONagainst Zionוְלֹאve/LOand notיִתְחַבְּרוּyit/chab/be/RUunite themselvesאֶל־הָעֵדָהel-ha/e/DAto the churchהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAgreatוְהַנִּתְעָבָהve/han/nit/a/VAand abominableהַהִיאha/HIthatיִוָּשֵׁעוּyiv/va/she/Uthey shall be savedכִּיkiforיְקַיֵּםye/kay/YEMwill fulfilיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־בְּרִיתוֹתָיוet-be/ri/to/TAYVhis covenantsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichכָּרַתka/RAThe madeלְבָנָיוle/va/NAYVunto his childrenוּבַעֲבוּרu/va/a/VURand forזֹאתzotthis causeכָּתַבka/TAVwroteהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּה׃ha/EL/lethese

    And blessed are the Gentiles, they of whom the prophet has written; for behold, if it so be that they shall repent and fight not against Zion, and do not unite themselves to that great and abominable church, they shall be saved; for the Lord God will fulfil his covenants which he has made unto his children; and for this cause the prophet has written these things.

    לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeיְלַחֲכוּye/la/cha/KHUthey shall lickהַנִּלְחָמִיםhan/nil/cha/MIMthose who fightבְּצִיּוֹןbe/Tsiy/YONagainst Zionוּבְעַםu/ve/AMand against the peopleבְּרִיתbe/RITof the covenantיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiאֶת־עֲפַרet-a/FARthe dustרַגְלֵיהֶםrag/le/HEMof their feetוְלֹאve/LOand notיֵבוֹשׁye/VOSHshall be ashamedעַם־יְהוָהam-Adonaithe people of Adonaiכִּיkiforעַם־יְהוָהam-Adonaithe people of Adonaiהֵםhemtheyהַקֹּוִיםhak/ko/VIMare those who waitלוֹlofor himכִּיkiforעוֹדָםo/DAMthey yetקֹוִיםko/VIMwaitלְבוֹאle/VOfor the comingהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achof the Messiah

    Wherefore, they that fight against Zion and the covenant people of the Lord shall lick up the dust of their feet; and the people of the Lord shall not be ashamed. For the people of the Lord are they who wait for him; for they still wait for the coming of the Messiah.

14. 14

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the wordsהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIof the prophetיוֹסִיףyo/SIFwill set againהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahשֵׁנִיתshe/NITthe second timeיָדוֹya/DOhimselfלִקְנוֹתָםlik/no/TAMto recover themלָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeיֵרָאֶהye/ra/Ewill manifest himselfאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themבְּכֹחַbe/KHO/achin powerוּבְכָבוֹדu/ve/kha/VODand gloryגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatלְהַשְׁמִידle/hash/MIDunto the destructionאֶת־אֹיְבֵיהֶםet-oy/ve/HEMof their enemiesבְּבוֹאbe/VOwhen comesהַיּוֹםhay/YOMdayהַהוּאha/HUthatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhenיַאֲמִינוּya/a/MI/nuthey shall believeבוֹvoin himוְכׇל־הַמַּאֲמִינִיםve/KHOL-ham/ma/a/mi/NIMand that believeבּוֹboin himלֹאlononeיַשְׁמִיד׃yash/MIDwill he destroy

    And behold, according to the words of the prophet, the Messiah will set himself again the second time to recover them; wherefore, he will manifest himself unto them in power and great glory, unto the destruction of their enemies, when that day cometh when they shall believe in him; and none will he destroy that believe in him.

    וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand all whoלֹא־יַאֲמִינוּlo-ya/a/MI/nushall not believeבוֹvoin himיֻשְׁמְדוּyush/me/DUshall be destroyedבָּאֵשׁba/ESHby fireוּבַסּוּפָהu/vas/su/FAand by tempestוּבָרַעַשׁu/va/RA/ashand by earthquakesוּבִשְׁפׇךְ־דָּםu/vish/FOKH-damand by bloodshedsוּבַדֶּבֶרu/vad/DE/verand by pestilenceוּבָרָעָבu/va/ra/AVand by famineוְיָדְעוּve/ya/de/Uand they shall knowכִּי־יְהוָהki-Adonaithat Adonaiהוּאhuhe isהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodקְדוֹשׁ־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ke/DOSH-Yis/ra/ELthe Holy One of Israel

    And they that believe not in him shall be destroyed, both by fire, and by tempest, and by earthquakes, and by bloodsheds, and by pestilence, and by famine. And they shall know that the Lord is God, the Holy One of Israel.

16. 16

    כִּיkiforהֲיֻקַּחha/yuk/KACHshall be takenמִגִּבּוֹרmig/gib/BORfrom the mightyמַלְקוֹחַmal/KO/achthe preyוְאִם־שְׁבִיve/IM-she/VIor the captiveצַדִּיקtsad/DIKlawfulיִמָּלֵט׃yim/ma/LETdelivered

    For shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?

17. 17

    אַךְakhbutכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saithיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiגַּם־שְׁבִיgam-she/VIeven the captivesגִבּוֹרgib/BORof the mightyיֻקָּחyuk/KACHshall be takenוּמַלְקוֹחַu/mal/KO/achand the preyעָרִיץa/RITSof the terribleיִמָּלֵטyim/ma/LETshall be deliveredכִּיkiforאֵלelGodגִּבּוֹרgib/BORmightyיַצִּילyats/TSILshall deliverעַםamthe peopleבְּרִיתוֹbe/ri/TOof his covenantכִּי־כֹהki-khofor thusאָמַרa/MARsaithיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֶת־יְרִיבֵךְet-ye/ri/VEKHwith them that contend with youאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאָרִיב׃a/RIVwill contend

    But thus saith the Lord: Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; for the Mighty God shall deliver his covenant people. For thus saith the Lord: I will contend with them that contendeth with thee—

    וְהַאֲכַלְתִּיve/ha/a/khal/TIand I will feedאֶת־מוֹנַיִךְet-mo/NA/yikhthose who oppress youאֶת־בְּשָׂרָםet-be/sa/RAMwith their own fleshוְכֶעָסִיסve/khe/a/SISand as with sweet wineדָּמָםda/MAMwith their own bloodיִשְׁכָּרוּןyish/ka/RUNthey shall be drunkenוְיָדְעוּve/ya/de/Uand shall knowכׇל־בָּשָׂרkhol-ba/SARall fleshכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIthat I amיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiמוֹשִׁיעֵךְMo/shi/EKHyour Saviorוְגֹאֲלֵךְve/Go/a/LEKHand your RedeemerאֲבִירA/VIRthe Mighty Oneיַעֲקֹב׃Ya/a/KOVof Jacob

    And I will feed them that oppress thee, with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood as with sweet wine; and all flesh shall know that I the Lord am thy Savior and thy Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
