Sefer Mormon collects nothing about you. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party trackers. This applies to the website at sefermormon.com and to the iOS and Android apps, which are the same site in an app shell.
The reader remembers a few things so that it is usable: which volume and chapter you were last reading, your reading theme, your text size, and any words you have highlighted. All of it is written to your own device's browser storage. It is never transmitted anywhere, it is not visible to anyone else, and no copy of it exists outside your device. Clearing the site's data in your browser, or deleting the app, removes it permanently.
The read-aloud feature uses the speech voice built into your own device, through your browser. The text is spoken locally. On some platforms the operating system's speech service may process the text to produce the audio; that is the device's own service and is governed by the privacy policy of your device's maker, not by this site.
The site is served as static files by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub's servers receive the ordinary requests your browser makes, including your IP address, as a technical necessity of delivering the page. Sefer Mormon does not receive, retain, or have access to those logs.
The app collects no data from anyone, of any age. It is a scripture reader, and nothing in it is directed at children specifically.
If this ever changes — and there is no plan for it to — the change will be described on this page before it takes effect.
