   And it came to pass that when the sixty and second year of the reign of the judges had ended, all these things had happened and the Lamanites had become, the more part of them, a righteous people, insomuch that their righteousness did exceed that of the Nephites, because of their firmness and their steadiness in the faith.

   For behold, there were many of the Nephites who had become hardened and impenitent and grossly wicked, insomuch that they did reject the word of God and all the preaching and prophesying which did come among them.

   Nevertheless, the people of the church did have great joy because of the conversion of the Lamanites, yea, because of the church of God, which had been established among them. And they did fellowship one with another, and did rejoice one with another, and did have great joy.

   And it came to pass that many of the Lamanites did come down into the land of Zarahemla, and did declare unto the people of the Nephites the manner of their conversion, and did exhort them to faith and repentance.

   Yea, and many did preach with exceedingly great power and authority, unto the bringing down many of them into the depths of humility, to be the humble followers of God and the Lamb.

   And it came to pass that many of the Lamanites did go into the land northward; and also Nephi and Lehi went into the land northward, to preach unto the people. And thus ended the sixty and third year.

   And behold, there was peace in all the land, insomuch that the Nephites did go into whatsoever part of the land they would, whether among the Nephites or the Lamanites.

   And it came to pass that the Lamanites did also go whithersoever they would, whether it were among the Lamanites or among the Nephites; and thus they did have free intercourse one with another, to buy and to sell, and to get gain, according to their desire.

   And it came to pass that they became exceedingly rich, both the Lamanites and the Nephites; and they did have an exceeding plenty of gold, and of silver, and of all manner of precious metals, both in the land south and in the land north.

    Now the land south was called Lehi, and the land north was called Mulek, which was after the son of Zedekiah; for the Lord did bring Mulek into the land north, and Lehi into the land south.

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהָיָהha/YAthere wasכׇּל־מִינֵיkol-mi/NEall mannerזָהָבza/HAVof goldבִּשְׁתֵּיbish/TEin bothהָאֲרָצוֹתha/a/ra/TSOTthe landsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוָכֶסֶףva/KHE/sefand of silverוְעַפְרוֹתve/af/ROTand of oreיְקָרוֹתye/ka/ROTpreciousמִכׇּל־מִיןmik/KOL-minof every kindוְגַםve/GAMand alsoהָיוּha/YUthere wereאֻמָּנִיםum/ma/NIMworkmenמַשְׂכִּילִיםmas/ki/LIMcuriousאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoעָבְדוּa/ve/DUwroughtכׇּל־מִינֵיkol-mi/NEall kindsעַפְרוֹתaf/ROTof oreוַיְזַקְּקוּםvay/zak/ke/KUMand refined itוְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusהֶעֱשִׁירוּ׃he/e/shi/RUthey became rich

    And behold, there was all manner of gold in both these lands, and of silver, and of precious ore of every kind; and there were also curious workmen, who did work all kinds of ore and did refine it; and thus they did become rich.

    וַיִּזְרְעוּvay/yiz/re/Uthey raisedדָגָןda/GANgrainלָרֹבla/ROVin abundanceגַּםgambothבַּצָּפוֹןbats/tsa/FONin the northגַּםgamandבַּדָּרוֹםbad/da/ROMin the southוַיַּצְלִיחוּvay/yats/LI/chuand they did flourishמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyגַּםgambothבַּצָּפוֹןbats/tsa/FONin the northגַּםgamandבַּדָּרוֹםbad/da/ROMin the southוַיִּרְבּוּvay/yir/BUand they multipliedוַיַּעַצְמוּvay/ya/ats/MUand wax strongמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landוַיְגַדְּלוּvay/gad/de/LUand raisedעֶדְרֵיed/REflocksצֹאןtsonof sheepוּבָקָרu/va/KARand herdsרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyאַףafyeaמְרִיאִיםme/ri/IMfatlingsרַבִּים׃rab/BIMmany

    They did raise grain in abundance, both in the north and in the south; and they did flourish exceedingly, both in the north and in the south. And they did multiply and wax exceedingly strong in the land. And they did raise many flocks and herds, yea, many fatlings.

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנְשֵׁיהֶםne/she/HEMtheir womenעָמְלוּa/me/LUtoiledוְטָווּve/ta/VUand spinוַיַּעֲשׂוּvay/ya/a/SUand madeכׇל־מִינֵיkhol-mi/NEall mannerבַדvadof clothמִבּוּץmib/BUTSof fine linenמׇשְׁזָרmosh/ZARtwinedוּבַדu/VADand clothמִכׇּל־מִיןmik/KOL-minof every kindלְכַסּוֹתle/khas/SOTto clotheאֶת־מַעֲרֻמֵּיהֶםet-ma/a/rum/me/HEMtheir nakednessוְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusעָבְרָהa/ve/RApassed awayשְׁנַתshe/NATthe yearהַשִּׁשִּׁיםhash/shish/SHIMof the sixtyוְאַרְבַּעve/ar/BAand fourthבְּשָׁלוֹם׃be/sha/LOMin peace

    Behold their women did toil and spin, and did make all manner of cloth, of fine-twined linen and cloth of every kind, to clothe their nakedness. And thus the sixty and fourth year did pass away in peace.

    And in the sixty and fifth year they did also have great joy and peace, yea, much preaching and many prophecies concerning that which was to come. And thus passed away the sixty and fifth year.

    And it came to pass that in the sixty and sixth year of the reign of the judges, behold, Cezoram was murdered by an unknown hand as he sat upon the judgment-seat. And it came to pass that in the same year, that his son, who had been appointed by the people in his stead, was also murdered. And thus ended the sixty and sixth year.

    וּבִתְחִלַּתu/vit/chil/LATand in the commencementשְׁנַתshe/NATof the yearהַשִּׁשִּׁיםhash/shish/SHIMof the sixtyוָשֶׁבַעva/SHE/vaand seventhהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלְהָרֵעַle/ha/RE/ato grow wickedמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyעוֹד׃odagain

    And in the commencement of the sixty and seventh year the people began to grow exceedingly wicked again.

17. 17

    כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבֵּרְכָםber/KHAMblessed themיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiיָמִים רַבִּיםya/MIM rab/BIMso longבְּעֹשֶׁרbe/O/sherwith the richesהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMof the worldעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatלֹאlonotהוּסְתוּhus/TUthey had been stirred upלְכַעַסle/KHA/asto angerוּלְמִלְחָמוֹתu/le/mil/cha/MOTto warsוְלִשְׁפׇךְ־דָּםve/lish/FOKH-damnor to bloodshedלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/luthey beganלָשִׂיםla/SIMto setלִבָּםlib/BAMtheir heartsעַל־עׇשְׁרָםal-osh/RAMupon their richesאַףafyeaהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/luthey beganלְבַקֵּשׁle/vak/KESHto seekבֶּצַעBE/tsagainלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִתְנַשְּׂאוּyit/nas/se/Uthey might be lifted upאִישׁishoneעַל־רֵעֵהוּal-re/E/huabove anotherלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/luthey beganלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto commitדְּמֵיde/MEmurdersסֵתֶרSE/tersecretוְלִשְׁדֹדve/lish/DODand to robוְלָבֹזve/la/VOZand to plunderלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִבְצְעוּ בֶּצַע׃yiv/tse/U BE/tsathey might get gain

    For behold, the Lord had blessed them so long with the riches of the world that they had not been stirred up to anger, to wars, nor to bloodshed; therefore they began to set their hearts upon their riches; yea, they began to seek to get gain that they might be lifted up one above another; therefore they began to commit secret murders, and to rob and to plunder, that they might get gain.

18. 18

    And now behold, those murderers and plunderers were a band who had been formed by Kishkumen and Gadianton. And now it had come to pass that there were many, even among the Nephites, of Gadianton’s band. But behold, they were more numerous among the more wicked part of the Lamanites. And they were called Gadianton’s robbers and murderers.

    וְהֵםve/HEMand it was theyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoרָצְחוּra/tse/CHUmurderedאֶת־הַשֹּׁפֵטet-hash/sho/FETthe judgeהָרֹאשׁha/ROSHthe chiefסֵזוֹרָםSe/ZO/ramCezoramוְאֶת־בְּנוֹve/ET-be/NOand his sonבְּשִׁבְתָּםbe/shiv/TAMwhile sittingעַל־כִּסֵּאal-kis/SEupon the seatהַמִּשְׁפָּטham/mish/PATof judgmentוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdלֹאlonotנִמְצְאוּ׃nim/tse/Uthey were found

    And it was they who did murder the chief judge Cezoram, and his son, while in the judgment-seat; and behold, they were not found.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenמָצְאוּma/tse/Ufoundהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesכִּי־יֵשׁki-yeshthat there wereשׁוֹדְדִיםshod/DIMrobbersבְּקִרְבָּםbe/kir/BAMamong themוַיִּתְעַצְּבוּvay/yit/ats/tse/VUthey were sorrowfulמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyוַיַּעֲשׂוּvay/ya/a/SUand they usedכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERevery meansבְּכֹחָםbe/kho/CHAMin their powerלְהַשְׁמִידָםle/hash/mi/DAMto destroy themמֵעַלme/ALoffפְּנֵיpe/NEthe faceהָאֲדָמָה׃ha/a/da/MAof the earth

    And now it came to pass that when the Lamanites found that there were robbers among them they were exceedingly sorrowful; and they did use every means in their power to destroy them off the face of the earth.

    But behold, Satan did stir up the hearts of the more part of the Nephites, insomuch that they did unite with those bands of robbers, and did enter into their covenants and their oaths, that they would protect and preserve one another in whatsoever difficult circumstances they should be placed, that they should not suffer for their murders, and their plunderings, and their stealings.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהָיוּha/YUthere wereלָהֶםla/HEMto themאוֹתוֹתֵיהֶםo/to/te/HEMtheir signsאַףafyeaאוֹתוֹתo/TOTsignsסֵתֶרSE/tersecretוְדִבְרֵיve/div/REand wordsסֵתֶרSE/tersecretוְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיַכִּירוּyak/ki/RUthey might distinguishאָחacha brotherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבָּאbaenteredבַּבְּרִיתbab/be/RITinto the covenantלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatכׇּל־רֶשַׁעkol-RE/shawhatsoever wickednessאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEshould doאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherלֹאlonotיֻכֶּהyuk/KEhe should be injuredמִיַּדmiy/YADby the handאָחִיוa/CHIVof his brotherוְלֹאve/LOand notמִיַּדmiy/YADby the handהַבָּאִיםhab/ba/IMof those who enteredבִּבְרִיתbiv/RITinto the covenantגְּדוּדוֹ׃ge/du/DOof his band

    And it came to pass that they did have their signs, yea, their secret signs, and their secret words; and this that they might distinguish a brother who had entered into the covenant, that whatsoever wickedness his brother should do he should not be injured by his brother, nor by those who did belong to his band, who had taken this covenant.

23. 23

    וְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusיָכְלוּya/khe/LUthey mightלִרְצֹחַlir/TSO/achmurderוְלִשְׁדֹדve/lish/DODand plunderוְלִגְנֹבve/lig/NOVand stealוְלִזְנוֹתve/liz/NOTand commit whoredomsוְלַעֲשׂוֹתve/la/a/SOTand doכׇּל־מִינֵיkol-mi/NEall mannerרֶשַׁעRE/shaof wickednessנֶגֶדNE/gedcontrary toחֻקֵּיchuk/KEthe lawsאַרְצָםar/TSAMof their countryוְגַםve/GAMand alsoחֻקֵּיchuk/KEthe lawsאֱלֹהֵיהֶם׃e/lo/he/HEMof their God

    And thus they might murder, and plunder, and steal, and commit whoredoms and all manner of wickedness, contrary to the laws of their country and also the laws of their God.

24. 24

    וְכׇל־מִיve/KHOL-miand whosoeverמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERof those who belongedלִגְדוּדָםlig/du/DAMto their bandאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיְגַלֶּהye/gal/LEshould revealלָעוֹלָםla/o/LAMto the worldאֶת־רִשְׁעָתָםet-rish/a/TAMtheir wickednessוְתוֹעֲבוֹתֵיהֶםve/to/a/vo/te/HEMand their abominationsיִשָּׁפֵטyish/sha/FETshould be triedלֹאlonotכְּפִיke/FIaccording toחֻקֵּיchuk/KEthe lawsאַרְצָםar/TSAMof their countryכִּי־אִםki-imbutכְּפִיke/FIaccording toחֻקֵּיchuk/KEthe lawsרִשְׁעָתָםrish/a/TAMof their wickednessאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִתְּנוּnit/te/NUhad been givenבִּידֵיbi/DEby the handsגָּדִיאַנְטוֹןGa/di/AN/tonof Gadiantonוְקִישְׁקוּמֶן׃ve/Ki/she/KU/menand Kishkumen

    And whosoever of those who belonged to their band should reveal unto the world of their wickedness and their abominations, should be tried, not according to the laws of their country, but according to the laws of their wickedness, which had been given by Gadianton and Kishkumen.

25. 25

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֵלֶּהEL/leit is theseאָלוֹתa/LOTthe oathsוּבְרִיתu/ve/RITand the covenantsהַסֵּתֶרhas/SE/tersecretאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאֶת־בְּנוֹet-be/NOhis sonלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notיֵצְאוּyets/Ushould go forthלָעוֹלָםla/o/LAMto the worldפֶּן־יִהְיוּpen-yih/YUlest they should beלְנָתִיבle/na/TIVa meansלְהוֹרִידle/ho/RIDto bring downאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleלְהַשְׁחָתָה׃le/hash/cha/TAunto destruction

    Now behold, it is these secret oaths and covenants which Alma commanded his son should not go forth unto the world, lest they should be a means of bringing down the people unto destruction.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלֹא־בָאוּlo-VA/udid not come forthאָלוֹתa/LOTthe oathsוּבְרִיתu/ve/RITand the covenantsהַסֵּתֶרhas/SE/tersecretהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseלְגָדִיאַנְטוֹןle/Ga/di/an/TONto Gadiantonמִן־הַסְּפָרִיםmin-has/se/fa/RIMfrom the recordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִמְסְרוּnim/se/RUwere deliveredלְהֵילָמָןle/HE/la/manunto Helamanאַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהוּשְׂמוּhus/MUthey were putבְּלֵבbe/LEVinto the heartגָּדִיאַנְטוֹןGa/di/AN/tonof Gadiantonבִּידֵיbi/DEby the handsהַהוּאha/HUof that same beingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoפִּתָּהpit/TAenticedאֶת־אָבִינוּet-a/VI/nuour fatherוְאִמֵּנוּve/im/me/NUand motherהָרִאשֹׁנִיםha/ri/sho/NIMthe firstלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLto partakeמִפְּרִיmip/pe/RIof the fruitהָעֵץha/ETSof the treeהָאָסוּר׃ha/a/SURthe forbidden

    Now behold, those secret oaths and covenants did not come forth unto Gadianton from the records which were delivered unto Helaman; but behold, they were put into the heart of Gadianton by that same being who did entice our first parents to partake of the forbidden fruit—

27. 27

    הֵןhenyeaהַהוּאha/HUthat same beingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoזָמַםza/MAMdid plotעִם־קַיִןim-KA/yinwith Cainכִּיkithatאִם־יַהֲרֹגim-ya/ha/ROGif he would murderאֶת־הֶבֶלet-HE/velAbelאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherלֹאlonotיִוָּדַעyiv/va/DAit should be knownלָעוֹלָםla/o/LAMunto the worldוַיָּזֹםvay/ya/ZOMand he did plotעִם־קַיִןim-KA/yinwith Cainוְעִם־אֲנָשָׁיוve/IM-a/na/SHAYVand his followersמֵהָעֵתme/ha/ETfrom the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatוָהָלְאָה׃va/HAL/aand onward

    Yea, that same being who did plot with Cain, that if he would murder his brother Abel it should not be known unto the world. And he did plot with Cain and his followers from that time forth.

28. 28

    וְגַם־הוּאve/GAM-huand also it is heהַהוּאha/HUthat same beingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoשָׂםsamput itבְּלֵבbe/LEVinto the heartהָעָםha/AMof the peopleלִבְנוֹתliv/NOTto buildמִגְדָּלmig/DALa towerגָּבוֹהַּga/VO/ahhighלְהַגִּיעַle/hag/GI/athat they might getלַשָּׁמָיִםlash/sha/MA/yimto heavenוְהוּאve/HUand it was heהַהוּאha/HUthat same beingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוֹלִיךְho/LIKHled onאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleאֲשֶׁר־בָּאוּa/SHER-BA/uwhich cameמִן־הַמִּגְדָּלmin-ham/mig/DALfrom the towerהַהוּאha/HUthatלָאָרֶץla/A/retsinto the landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהֵפִיץhe/FITSspreadאֶת־מַעֲשֵׂיet-ma/a/SEthe worksהַחֹשֶׁךְha/CHO/shekhof darknessוְהַתּוֹעֵבוֹתve/hat/to/e/VOTand abominationsעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the faceכׇל־הָאָרֶץkhol-ha/A/retsof all the landעַד־אֲשֶׁרad-a/SHERuntilמָשַׁךְma/SHAKHhe draggedאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleלְהַשְׁחָתָהle/hash/cha/TAto destructionשְׁלֵמָהshe/le/MAentireוְלִשְׁאוֹלve/lish/OLand to hellעוֹלָם׃o/LAMeverlasting

    And also it is that same being who put it into the hearts of the people to build a tower sufficiently high that they might get to heaven. And it was that same being who led on the people who came from that tower into this land; who spread the works of darkness and abominations over all the face of the land, until he dragged the people down to an entire destruction, and to an everlasting hell.

29. 29

    הֵןhenyeaהוּאhuit is heהַהוּאha/HUthat same beingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoשָׂםsamput itבְּלֵבbe/LEVinto the heartגָּדִיאַנְטוֹןGa/di/AN/tonof Gadiantonלְהוֹסִיףle/ho/SIFto still carry onבִּמְלֶאכֶתbim/LE/khetthe workהַחֹשֶׁךְha/CHO/shekhof darknessוְרֶצַחve/RE/tsachand of murderהַסֵּתֶרhas/SE/tersecretוְהוּאve/HUand heהוֹצִיאָהּho/tsi/Abrought it forthמִתְּחִלַּתmit/te/chil/LATfrom the beginningהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof manוְעַד־הָעֵתve/AD-ha/ETeven down to the timeהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

    Yea, it is that same being who put it into the heart of Gadianton to still carry on the work of darkness, and of secret murder; and he has brought it forth from the beginning of man even down to this time.

30. 30

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהוּאhuhe who isמְחוֹלֵלme/cho/LELthe authorכׇּל־חֵטְאkol-chetof all sinוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהוּאhuheעֹשֶׂהo/SEcarries onאֶת־מַעֲשֵׂיet-ma/a/SEthe worksהַחֹשֶׁךְha/CHO/shekhof darknessוְרֶצַחve/RE/tsachand murderהַסֵּתֶרhas/SE/tersecretוּמַעֲבִירu/ma/a/VIRand hands downאֶת־מְזִמּוֹתֵיהֶםet-me/zim/mo/te/HEMtheir plotsוְאָלוֹתֵיהֶםve/a/lo/te/HEMand their oathsוּבְרִיתָםu/ve/ri/TAMand their covenantsוּמַחְשְׁבוֹתu/mach/she/VOTand the plansרִשְׁעָתָםrish/a/TAMof their wickednessהַנּוֹרָאָהhan/no/ra/Aawfulמִדּוֹרmid/DORfrom generationלְדוֹרle/DORto generationכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERaccording asיוּכַלyu/KHALhe canלִתְפֹּסlit/POSget hold uponאֶת־לִבּוֹתet-lib/BOTthe heartsבְּנֵיbe/NEof the childrenהָאָדָם׃ha/a/DAMof men

    And behold, it is he who is the author of all sin. And behold, he doth carry on his works of darkness and secret murder, and doth hand down their plots, and their oaths, and their covenants, and their plans of awful wickedness, from generation to generation according as he can get hold upon the hearts of the children of men.

31. 31

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdתָּפַסta/FAShe got holdבְּחׇזְקָהbe/choz/KAgreatאֶת־לִבּוֹתet-lib/BOTupon the heartsהַנֶּפִיִּיםhan/Ne/fiy/YIMof the Nephitesאַףafyeaעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatהָיוּha/YUthey becameרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMwickedמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyאַףafyeaרֻבָּםrub/BAMthe more part of themסָרוּSA/ruturnedמִדֶּרֶךְmid/DE/rekhout of the wayהַצֶּדֶקhats/TSE/dekof righteousnessוַיִּרְמְסוּvay/yir/me/SUand trampledתַּחַתTA/chatunderרַגְלֵיהֶםrag/le/HEMtheir feetאֶת־מִצְוֹתet-mits/VOTthe commandmentsאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוַיִּפְנוּvay/yif/NUand turnedלְדַרְכֵיהֶםle/dar/khe/HEMunto their own waysוַיִּבְנוּvay/yiv/NUand built upלָהֶםla/HEMunto themselvesאֱלִילִיםe/li/LIMidolsמִזְּהָבָםmiz/ze/ha/VAMof their goldוּמִכַּסְפָּם׃u/mik/kas/PAMand their silver

    And now behold, he had got great hold upon the hearts of the Nephites; yea, insomuch that they had become exceedingly wicked; yea, the more part of them had turned out of the way of righteousness, and did trample under their feet the commandments of God, and did turn unto their own ways, and did build up unto themselves idols of their gold and their silver.

32. 32

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatכׇּל־הָעֲוֹנוֹתkol-ha/a/vo/NOTall the iniquitiesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseבָּאוּBA/ucameעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themבְּשָׁנִיםbe/sha/NIMin the space of yearsלֹאlonotרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatרֻבָּםrub/BAMthe more part of itבָּאוּBA/ucameעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themבִּשְׁנַתbish/NATin the yearהַשִּׁשִּׁיםhash/shish/SHIMof the sixtyוָשֶׁבַעva/SHE/vaand seventhלִמְשֹׁלlim/SHOLof the reignהַשֹּׁפְטִיםhash/shof/TIMof the judgesעַל־עַםal-amover the peopleנֶפִי׃NE/fiof Nephi

    And it came to pass that all these iniquities did come unto them in the space of not many years, insomuch that a more part of it had come unto them in the sixty and seventh year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi.

33. 33

    וַיִּגְדְּלוּvay/yig/de/LUand they grewבַּעֲוֹנוֹתֵיהֶםba/a/vo/no/te/HEMin their iniquitiesגַּםgamalsoבִּשְׁנַתbish/NATin the yearהַשִּׁשִּׁיםhash/shish/SHIMof the sixtyוּשְׁמוֹנֶהu/she/mo/NEand eighthלְיָגוֹןle/ya/GONto the sorrowגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוּמִסְפֵּדu/mis/PEDand lamentationלַצַּדִּיקִים׃lats/tsad/di/KIMof the righteous

    And they did grow in their iniquities in the sixty and eighth year also, to the great sorrow and lamentation of the righteous.

34. 34

    וְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusרוֹאִיםro/IMseeאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweכִּיkithatהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/lubeganהַנֶּפִיִּיםhan/Ne/fiy/YIMthe Nephitesלִדְעֹךְlid/OKHto dwindleבְּאֵיןbe/ENwithoutאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithוְלִגְדֹּלve/lig/DOLand to growבְּרֶשַׁעbe/RE/shain wickednessוּבְתוֹעֵבוֹתu/ve/to/e/VOTand in abominationsבְּעוֹדbe/ODwhileהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/luthey beganלִגְדֹּלlig/DOLto growמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyבְּדַעַתbe/DA/atin the knowledgeאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMof their Godאַףafyeaהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/lubeganלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto keepאֶת־חֻקָּיוet-chuk/KAYVhis statutesוּמִצְוֹתָיוu/mits/vo/TAYVand commandmentsוְלָלֶכֶתve/la/LE/khetand to walkבֶּאֱמֶתbe/e/METin truthוּבְיֹשֶׁרu/ve/YO/sherand in uprightnessלְפָנָיו׃le/fa/NAYVbefore him

    And thus we see that the Nephites did begin to dwindle in unbelief, and grow in wickedness and abominations, while the Lamanites began to grow exceedingly in the knowledge of their God; yea, they did begin to keep his statutes and commandments, and to walk in truth and uprightness before him.

35. 35

    וְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusרוֹאִיםro/IMseeאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweכִּיkithatהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganרוּחַRU/achthe SpiritיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiלָסוּרla/SURto withdrawמֵעַלme/ALfromהַנֶּפִיִּיםhan/Ne/fiy/YIMthe Nephitesמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofרִשְׁעָתָםrish/a/TAMtheir wickednessוּקְשִׁיu/ke/SHIand the hardnessלִבָּם׃lib/BAMof their hearts

    And thus we see that the Spirit of the Lord began to withdraw from the Nephites, because of the wickedness and the hardness of their hearts.

36. 36

    וְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusרוֹאִיםro/IMseeאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweכִּיkithatהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiלִשְׁפֹּךְlish/POKHto pour outאֶת־רוּחוֹet-Ru/CHOhis Spiritעַל־הַלָּמָנִיםal-Hal/la/ma/NIMupon the Lamanitesבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofרֹךְ לְבָבָםrokh le/va/VAMtheir easinessוְנָכוֹןve/na/KHONand willingnessלִבָּםlib/BAMof their heartsלְהַאֲמִיןle/ha/a/MINto believeבִּדְבָרָיו׃bid/va/RAYVin his words

    And thus we see that the Lord began to pour out his Spirit upon the Lamanites, because of their easiness and willingness to believe in his words.

37. 37

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatצָדוּtsa/DUhuntedהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesאֶת־גְּדוּדet-ge/DUDthe bandשׁוֹדְדֵיSHOD/deof robbersגָּדִיאַנְטוֹןGa/di/AN/tonof Gadiantonוַיִּדְרְשׁוּvay/yid/re/SHUand they preachedאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe wordאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godבֵּיןbenamongחֶלְקָםchel/KAMthe part of themהָרָשָׁעha/ra/SHAthe wickedיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatנִשְׁמַדnish/MADwas destroyedגְּדוּדge/DUDthe bandהַשּׁוֹדְדִיםhash/shod/DIMof robbersהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכָּלִילka/LILutterlyמִקֶּרֶבmik/KE/revfrom amongהַלָּמָנִים׃hal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanites

    And it came to pass that the Lamanites did hunt the band of robbers of Gadianton; and they did preach the word of God among the more wicked part of them, insomuch that this band of robbers was utterly destroyed from among the Lamanites.

38. 38

    וְאוּלָםve/u/LAMand on the other handחִזְּקוּםchiz/ze/KUMbuilt them upהַנֶּפִיִּיםhan/Ne/fiy/YIMthe Nephitesוְתָמְכוּve/ta/me/KHUand supportבָםvamthemהָחֵלha/CHELbeginningמֵחֶלְקָםme/chel/KAMat the part of themהָרָשָׁעha/ra/SHAthe wickedיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatפָּשְׁטוּpa/she/TUthey had overspreadבְּכׇל־אֶרֶץbe/KHOL-E/retsall the landהַנֶּפִיִּיםhan/Ne/fiy/YIMof the Nephitesוַיַּתְעוּvay/yat/Uand seducedאֶת־רֹבet-rovthe more partהַצַּדִּיקִיםhats/tsad/di/KIMof the righteousעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatיָרְדוּya/re/DUthey came downלְהַאֲמִיןle/ha/a/MINto believeבְּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶםbe/ma/a/se/HEMin their worksוְלָקַחַתve/la/KA/chatand to partakeמִשְּׁלָלָםmish/she/la/LAMof their spoilsוּלְהִתְחַבֵּרu/le/hit/chab/BERand to joinעִמָּםim/MAMwith themבְּרִצְחֵיbe/rits/CHEin their murdersסִתְרָםsit/RAMsecretוּבְקִשְׁרֵיהֶם׃u/ve/kish/re/HEMand their combinations

    And it came to pass on the other hand, that the Nephites did build them up and support them, beginning at the more wicked part of them, until they had overspread all the land of the Nephites, and had seduced the more part of the righteous until they had come down to believe in their works and partake of their spoils, and to join with them in their secret murders and combinations.

39. 39

    וְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusהִשִּׂיגוּhis/SI/guobtainedאֶת־כׇּל־שְׂרָרַתet-kol-se/ra/RATthe sole managementהַמֶּמְשָׁלָהham/mem/sha/LAof the governmentעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatרָמְסוּra/me/SUthey trampledתַּחַתTA/chatunderרַגְלֵיהֶםrag/le/HEMtheir feetוַיַּכּוּvay/yak/KUand smiteוַיִּקְרְעוּvay/yik/re/Uand rendוַיַּפְנוּvay/yaf/NUand turnעֹרֶףO/reftheir backsלָעֲנִיִּיםla/a/niy/YIMunto the poorוְלָעֲנָוִיםve/la/a/na/VIMand to the meekוּלְעַנְוֵיu/le/an/VEand the humble followersאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

    And thus they did obtain the sole management of the government, insomuch that they did trample under their feet and smite and rend and turn their backs upon the poor and the meek, and the humble followers of God.

    וְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusרוֹאִיםro/IMseeאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweכִּיkithatהָיוּha/YUwereבְּרָעָהbe/ra/Ain a stateנוֹרָאָהno/ra/Aawfulוּבָשְׁלוּu/va/she/LUand ripeningלְהַשְׁחָתַתle/hash/cha/TATfor destructionעוֹלָם׃o/LAMeverlasting

    And thus we see that they were in an awful state, and ripening for an everlasting destruction.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatתַּמָּהtam/MAthus endedשְׁנַתshe/NATthe yearהַשִּׁשִּׁיםhash/shish/SHIMof the sixtyוּשְׁמוֹנֶהu/she/mo/NEand eighthלִמְשֹׁלlim/SHOLof the reignהַשֹּׁפְטִיםhash/shof/TIMof the judgesעַל־עַםal-amover the peopleנֶפִי׃NE/fiof Nephi

    And it came to pass that thus ended the sixty and eighth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi.
