   כִּיkiforיְרַחֵםye/ra/CHEMwill have mercy onיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֶת־יַעֲקֹבet-Ya/a/KOVJacobוּבָחַרu/va/CHARand will chooseעוֹדodyetבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלBe/yis/ra/ELIsraelוְהִנִּיחָםve/hin/ni/CHAMand set themעַל־אַדְמָתָםal-ad/ma/TAMin their own landוְנִלְוָהve/nil/VAand shall be joinedהַגֵּרhag/GERthe strangersעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMwith themוְנִסְפְּחוּve/nis/pe/CHUand they shall cleaveעַל־בֵּיתal-betto the houseיַעֲקֹב׃Ya/a/KOVof Jacob

   For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land; and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.

   וּלְקָחוּםu/le/ka/CHUMand shall take themעַמִּיםam/MIMthe peopleוֶהֱבִיאוּםve/he/vi/UMand bring themאֶל־מְקוֹמָםel-me/ko/MAMto their placeאַףafyeaמֵרָחוֹקme/ra/CHOKfrom farעַד־קְצוֹתad-ke/TSOTunto the endsהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the earthוְשָׁבוּve/SHA/vuand they shall returnאֶל־אַרְצוֹתel-ar/TSOTto the landsהַבְטָחָתָםhav/ta/cha/TAMof their promiseוְהִתְנַחֲלוּםve/hit/na/cha/LUMand shall possess themבֵּית־יִשְׂרָאֵלbet-Yis/ra/ELthe house of Israelוְאַדְמַתve/ad/MATand the landיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiתִּהְיֶהtih/YEshall beלַעֲבָדִיםla/a/va/DIMfor servantsוְלִשְׁפָחוֹתve/lish/fa/CHOTand for handmaidsוְהָיוּve/ha/YUand they shall beשֹׁבִיםsho/VIMcaptivesלְשֹׁבֵיהֶםle/sho/ve/HEMunto whom they were captivesוְרָדוּve/ra/DUand they shall ruleבְּנֹגְשֵׂיהֶם׃be/nog/se/HEMover their oppressors

   And the people shall take them and bring them to their place; yea, from far unto the ends of the earth; and they shall return to their lands of promise. And the house of Israel shall possess them, and the land of the Lord shall be for servants and handmaids; and they shall take them captives unto whom they were captives; and they shall rule over their oppressors.

   וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin that dayהָנִיחַha/NI/achshall give restיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiלְךָle/KHAyouמֵעׇצְבְּךָme/ots/be/KHAfrom your sorrowוּמִרׇגְזֶךָu/mi/rog/ZE/khaand from your fearוּמִן־הָעֲבֹדָהu/MIN-ha/a/vo/DAand from the bondageהַקָּשָׁהhak/ka/SHAhardאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereinעֻבַּד־בָּךְ׃ub/BAD-bakhyou were made to serve

   And it shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall give thee rest, from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve.

   וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatוְנָשָׂאתָve/na/SA/tathat you shall take upהַמָּשָׁלham/ma/SHALthe proverbהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisעַל־מֶלֶךְal-ME/lekhagainst the kingבָּבֶלba/VELof Babylonוְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayאֵיךְekhhowשָׁבַתsha/VATceasedנֹגֵשׂno/GESthe oppressorשָׁבְתָהsha/ve/TAceasedמַדְהֵבָה׃mad/he/VAthe golden city

   And it shall come to pass in that day, that thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say: How hath the oppressor ceased, the golden city ceased!

   שָׁבַרsha/VARbrokeיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiמַטֵּהmat/TEthe staffרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMof the wickedשִׁבְטֵיshiv/TEthe sceptersמֹשְׁלִים׃mosh/LIMof the rulers

   The Lord hath broken the staff of the wicked, the scepters of the rulers.

6. 6

   מַכֶּהmak/KEhe who smoteעַמִּיםam/MIMthe peopleבְּעֶבְרָהbe/ev/RAin wrathמַכַּתmak/KATwith a strokeבִּלְתִּי־סָרָהbil/TI-sa/RAcontinualרֹדֶהro/DEhe that ruledבָאַףva/AFin angerגּוֹיִםgo/YIMthe nationsמֻרְדָּףmur/DAFis persecutedבְּלִיbe/LInoneחָשָׂךְ׃cha/SAKHhinders

   He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.

   נָחָהNA/chais at restשָׁקְטָהsha/ke/TAis quietכׇּל־הָאָרֶץkol-ha/A/retsthe whole earthפָּצְחוּpa/tse/CHUthey break forthרִנָּה׃rin/NAinto singing

   The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet; they break forth into singing.

8. 8

   גַּם־בְּרוֹשִׁיםgam-be/ro/SHIMyea the fir treesשָׂמְחוּsa/me/CHUrejoiceלְךָle/KHAat youאַרְזֵיar/ZEalso the cedarsלְבָנוֹןle/Va/NONof Lebanonמֵאָזme/AZsinceשָׁכַבְתָּsha/KHAV/tayou are laid downלֹא־יַעֲלֶהlo-ya/a/LEis not come upהַכֹּרֵתhak/ko/RETthe fellerעָלֵינוּ׃a/LE/nuagainst us

   Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and also the cedars of Lebanon, saying: Since thou art laid down no feller is come up against us.

   שְׁאוֹלshe/OLhellמִתַּחַתmit/TA/chatfrom beneathרָגְזָהRAG/zais movedלְךָle/KHAfor youלִקְרַאתlik/RATto meet youבּוֹאֶךָbo/E/khaat your comingעוֹרֵרo/RERit stirs upלְךָle/KHAfor youרְפָאִיםre/fa/IMthe deadכׇּל־עַתּוּדֵיkol-at/TU/deeven all the chief onesאָרֶץA/retsof the earthהֵקִיםhe/KIMit raised upמִכִּסְאוֹתָםmik/kis/o/TAMfrom their thronesכֹּלkolallמַלְכֵיmal/KHEkingsגוֹיִם׃go/YIMof the nations

   Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming; it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

10. 10

    כֻּלָּםkul/LAMall theyיַעֲנוּya/a/NUshall speakוְיֹאמְרוּve/yo/me/RUand sayאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youגַּם־אַתָּהgam-at/TAare you alsoחֻלֵּיתָchul/LE/tabecome weakכָמוֹנוּkha/MO/nuas weאֵלֵינוּe/LE/nuunto usנִמְשָׁלְתָּ׃nim/SHAL/taare you become like

    All they shall speak and say unto thee: Art thou also become weak as we? Art thou become like unto us?

11. 11

    הוּרַדhu/RADis brought downשְׁאוֹלshe/OLto the graveגְּאוֹנֶךָge/o/NE/khayour pompהֶמְיַתhem/YATthe noiseנְבָלֶיךָne/va/LE/khaof your violsלֹא־נִשְׁמָעlo-nish/MAis not heardתַּחְתֶּיךָtach/TE/khaunder youיֻצַּעyuts/TSAis spreadרִמָּהrim/MAthe wormוּמְכַסֶּיךָu/me/khas/SE/khaand cover youתוֹלֵעָה׃to/le/Athe worms

    Thy pomp is brought down to the grave; the noise of thy viols is not heard; the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.

12. 12

    אֵיךְekhhowנָפַלְתָּna/FAL/taare you fallenמִשָּׁמַיִםmish/sha/MA/yimfrom heavenהֵילֵלHe/LELO Luciferבֶּן־שָׁחַרben-SHA/charson of the morningנִגְדַּעְתָּnig/DA/taare you cut downלָאָרֶץla/A/retsto the groundחוֹלֵשׁcho/LESHwhich did weakenעַל־גּוֹיִם׃al-go/YIMthe nations

    How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! Art thou cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations!

13. 13

    וְאַתָּהve/at/TAfor youאָמַרְתָּa/MAR/tahave saidבִלְבָבְךָvil/va/ve/KHAin your heartהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yiminto heavenאֶעֱלֶהe/e/LEI will ascendמִמַּעַלmim/MA/alaboveלְכוֹכְבֵי־אֵלle/khokh/VE-elthe stars of Godאָרִיםa/RIMI will exaltכִּסְאִיkis/Imy throneוְאֵשֵׁבve/e/SHEVI will sit alsoבְּהַר־מוֹעֵדbe/HAR-mo/EDupon the mount of the congregationבְּיַרְכְּתֵיbe/yar/ke/TEin the sidesצָפוֹן׃tsa/FONof the north

    For thou hast said in thy heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north;

14. 14

    אֶעֱלֶהe/e/LEI will ascendעַל־בׇּמֳתֵיal-bo/mo/TEabove the heightsעָבavof the cloudsאֶדַּמֶּהed/dam/MEI will be likeלְעֶלְיוֹן׃le/El/YONthe Most High

    I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.

15. 15

    אַךְakhyetאֶל־שְׁאוֹלel-she/OLto hellתּוּרָדtu/RADyou shall be brought downאֶל־יַרְכְּתֵי־בוֹר׃el-yar/ke/TE-vorto the sides of the pit

    Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

16. 16

    רֹאֶיךָro/E/khathey that see youאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khaupon youיַשְׁגִּיחוּyash/GI/chushall narrowly lookאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khaupon youיִתְבּוֹנָנוּyit/bo/NA/nushall considerוְאָמְרוּve/a/me/RUand shall sayהֲזֶהha/ZEis thisהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manמַרְגִּיזmar/GIZthat made to trembleהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthמַרְעִישׁmar/ISHthat shookמַמְלָכוֹת׃mam/la/KHOTkingdoms

    They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and shall consider thee, and shall say: Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms?

17. 17

    שָׂםsammadeתֵּבֵלte/VELthe worldכַּמִּדְבָּרkam/mid/BARas a wildernessוְעָרָיוve/a/RAYVand the cities thereofהָרָסha/RASdestroyedבָּיְתָהBAY/tathe house ofאֲסִירָיוa/si/RAYVhis prisonersלֹא־פָתַח׃lo-FA/tachopened not

    And made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof, and opened not the house of his prisoners?

18. 18

    כׇּל־מַלְכֵיkol-mal/KHEall the kingsגוֹיִםgo/YIMof the nationsכֻּלָּםkul/LAMyea all of themשָׁכְבוּsha/khe/VUlieבְכָבוֹדve/kha/VODin gloryאִישׁishevery oneבְּבֵיתוֹ׃be/ve/TOin his own house

    All the kings of the nations, yea, all of them, lie in glory, every one of them in his own house.

19. 19

    וְאַתָּהve/at/TAbut youהׇשְׁלַכְתָּhosh/LAKH/taare cast outמִקִּבְרְךָmik/kiv/re/KHAout of your graveכְּנֵצֶרke/NE/tserlike a branchנִתְעָבnit/AVabominableוּשְׁאֵרִיתu/she/e/RITand the remnantהֲרוּגִיםha/ru/GIMof those that are slainמְטֹעֲנֵיme/TO/a/nethrust through withחָרֶבCHA/reva swordיוֹרְדֵיYOR/dethat go downאֶל־אַבְנֵי־בוֹרel-av/NE-vorto the stones of the pitכְּפֶגֶרke/FE/geras a carcassמוּבָס׃mu/VAStrodden under feet

    But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and the remnant of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcass trodden under feet.

20. 20

    לֹא־תֵחַדlo-te/CHADyou shall not be joinedאִתָּםit/TAMwith themבִּקְבוּרָהbik/vu/RAin burialכִּי־אַרְצְךָki-ar/tse/KHAbecause your landשִׁחַתָּshi/CHAT/tayou destroyedעַמְּךָam/me/KHAyour peopleהָרָגְתָּha/RAG/tayou slewלֹא־יִקָּרֵאlo-yik/ka/REshall not be renownedלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverזֶרַעZE/rathe seedמְרֵעִים׃me/re/IMof evil-doers

    Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land and slain thy people; the seed of evil-doers shall never be renowned.

21. 21

    הָכִינוּha/KHI/nuprepareלְבָנָיוle/va/NAYVfor his childrenמַטְבֵּחַmat/BE/achslaughterבַּעֲוֹנוֹתba/a/vo/NOTfor the iniquitiesאֲבוֹתָםa/vo/TAMof their fathersבַּל־יָקֻמוּbal-ya/KU/muthat they do not riseוְיָרְשׁוּve/ya/re/SHUnor possessאָרֶץA/retsthe landוּמָלְאוּu/ma/le/Unor fillפְנֵי־תֵבֵלfe/NE-te/VELthe face of the worldעָרִים׃a/RIMwith cities

    Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquities of their fathers, that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

22. 22

    וְקַמְתִּיve/kam/TIfor I will rise upעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMagainst themנְאֻם־יְהוָהne/UM-Adonaisaith AdonaiצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsוְהִכְרַתִּיve/hikh/rat/TIand I will cut offלְבָבֶלle/Va/VELfrom Babylonשֵׁםshemthe nameוּשְׁאָרu/she/ARand remnantוְנִיןve/NINand sonוָנֶכֶדva/NE/khedand nephewנְאֻם־יְהוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisaith Adonai

    For I will rise up against them, saith the Lord of Hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the Lord.

23. 23

    וְשַׂמְתִּיהָve/sam/TI/haI will also make itלְמוֹרַשׁle/mo/RASHa possession forקִפֹּדkip/PODthe bitternוְאַגְמֵי־מָיִםve/ag/ME-MA/yimand pools of waterוְטֵאטֵאתִיהָve/te/te/TI/haand I will sweep itבְּמַטְאֲטֵאbe/mat/a/TEwith the besomהַשְׁמֵדhash/MEDof destructionנְאֻם־יְהוָהne/UM-Adonaisaith Adonaiצְבָאוֹת׃Tse/va/OTof Hosts

    I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water; and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the Lord of Hosts.

24. 24

    נִשְׁבַּעnish/BAsworeיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאִם־לֹאim-losurelyכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּמִּיתִיdim/MI/tiI thoughtכֵּןkensoהָיָתָהha/YA/tashall it beוְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand asיָעַצְתִּיya/ATS/tiI purposedהִיא־תָקוּם׃hi-ta/KUMso shall it stand

    The Lord of Hosts hath sworn, saying: Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand—

25. 25

    לְהָבִיאle/ha/VIthat I will bringאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURthe Assyrianבְּאַרְצִיbe/ar/TSIin my landוְעַל־הָרַיve/AL-ha/RAYand upon my mountainsאֲבוּסֶנּוּa/vu/SEN/nutread him under footוְסָרve/SARthen shall departמֵעֲלֵיהֶםme/a/le/HEMfrom off themעֻלּוֹul/LOhis yokeוְסֻבֳּלוֹve/sub/bo/LOand his burdenמֵעַלme/ALfrom offשִׁכְמוֹshikh/MOtheir shouldersיָסוּר׃ya/SURshall depart

    That I will bring the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot; then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.

26. 26

    זֹאתzotthis isהָעֵצָהha/e/TSAthe purposeהַיְּעוּצָהhay/ye/u/TSAthat is purposedעַל־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץal-kol-ha/A/retsupon the whole earthוְזֹאתve/ZOTand this isהַיָּדhay/YADthe handהַנְּטוּיָהhan/ne/tu/YAthat is stretched outעַל־כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִם׃al-kol-hag/go/YIMupon all nations

    This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth; and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all nations.

27. 27

    כִּי־יְהוָהki-Adonaifor AdonaiצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsיָעָץya/ATSpurposedוּמִיu/MIand whoיָפֵרya/FERshall disannulוְיָדוֹve/ya/DOand his handהַנְּטוּיָהhan/ne/tu/YAis stretched outוּמִיu/MIand whoיְשִׁיבֶנָּה׃ye/shi/VEN/nashall turn it back

    For the Lord of Hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul? And his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

28. 28

    בִּשְׁנַת־מוֹתbish/NAT-motin the year of the deathהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhof the kingאָחָזA/CHAZAhazהָיָהha/YAwasהַמַּשָּׂאham/mas/SAthe burdenהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.

29. 29

    אַל־תִּשְׂמְחִיal-tis/me/CHIrejoice not youפְלֶשֶׁתFe/LE/shetPalestinaכֻּלֵּךְkul/LEKHwholeכִּיkibecauseנִשְׁבַּרnish/BARis brokenשֵׁבֶטSHE/vetthe rodמַכֵּךְmak/KEKHof him that smote youכִּי־מִשֹּׁרֶשׁki-mish/SHO/reshfor out of the rootנָחָשׁna/CHASHof the serpentיֵצֵאye/TSEshall come forthצֶפַעTSE/faa cockatriceוּפִרְיוֹu/fir/YOand his fruitשָׂרָףsa/RAFa fiery serpentמְעוֹפֵף׃me/o/FEFflying

    Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken; for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

30. 30

    וְרָעוּve/ra/Uand shall feedבְּכוֹרֵיbe/kho/REthe firstbornדַלִּיםdal/LIMof the poorוְאֶבְיוֹנִיםve/ev/yo/NIMand the needyלָבֶטַחla/VE/tachin safetyיִרְבָּצוּyir/BA/tsushall lie downוְהֵמַתִּיve/he/mat/TIand I will killבָרָעָבva/ra/AVwith famineשׇׁרְשֵׁךְshor/SHEKHyour rootוּשְׁאֵרִיתֵךְu/she/e/ri/TEKHand your remnantיַהֲרֹג׃ya/ha/ROGhe shall slay

    And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety; and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.

31. 31

    הֵילִילִיhe/LI/lihowlשַׁעַרSHA/arO gateזַעֲקִי־עִירza/a/KI-ircry O cityנָמוֹגna/MOGare dissolvedפְּלֶשֶׁתPe/LE/shetPalestinaכֻּלֵּךְkul/LEKHwholeכִּיkiforמִצָּפוֹןmits/tsa/FONfrom the northעָשָׁןa/SHANa smokeבָּאbathere shall comeוְאֵיןve/ENand noneבּוֹדֵדbo/DEDshall be aloneבְּמוֹעָדָיו׃be/mo/a/DAYVin his appointed times

    Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved; for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.

32. 32

    וּמַה־יַּעֲנֶהu/MA-ya/a/NEwhat shall then answerמַלְאֲכֵי־גוֹיִםmal/a/KHE-go/YIMthe messengers of the nationsכִּי־יְהוָהki-Adonaithat Adonaiיִסַּדyis/SADfoundedצִיּוֹןTsiy/YONZionוּבָהּu/VAin itיֶחֱסוּye/che/SUshall trustעֲנִיֵּיa/niy/YEthe poorעַמּוֹ׃am/MOof his people

    What shall then answer the messengers of the nations? That the Lord hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.
