   מַשָּׂאmas/SAthe burdenבָּבֶלba/VELof Babylonאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichחָזָהcha/ZAsawיְשַׁעְיָהוּYe/sha/YA/huIsaiahבֶּן־אָמוֹץ׃ben-A/MOTSthe son of Amoz

   The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

2. 2

   עַלaluponהַר־נִשְׁפֶּהhar-nish/PEthe high mountainשְׂאוּ־נֵסse/U-neslift up a bannerהָרִימוּha/RI/muexaltקוֹלkolthe voiceלָהֶםla/HEMunto themהָנִיפוּha/NI/fushakeיָדyadthe handוְיָבֹאוּve/ya/VO/uthat they may goפִּתְחֵיpit/CHEinto the gatesנְדִיבִים׃ne/di/VIMof the nobles

   Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

   אֲנִיa/NIIצִוֵּיתִיtsiv/VE/ticommandedלִמְקֻדָּשָׁיlim/kud/da/SHAYmy sanctified onesגַּםgamalsoקָרָאתִיka/RA/tiI calledגִבּוֹרַיgib/bo/RAYmy mighty onesכִּיkiforלֹא־אַפִּיlo-ap/PImy anger is notעַל־עַלִּיזֵיal-al/li/ZEupon them that rejoice inגַאֲוָתִי׃ga/a/va/TImy highness

   I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones, for mine anger is not upon them that rejoice in my highness.

   קוֹלkolthe noiseהֶהָמוֹןhe/ha/MONof the multitudeבֶּהָרִיםbe/ha/RIMin the mountainsדְּמוּתde/MUTlike asעַם־רָבam-ravof a great peopleקוֹלkola noiseשְׁאוֹןshe/ONtumultuousמַמְלְכוֹתmam/le/KHOTof the kingdomsגּוֹיִםgo/YIMof nationsנֶאֱסָפִיםne/e/sa/FIMgathered togetherיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsמְפַקֵּדme/fak/KEDmustersצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTthe hostsמִלְחָמָה׃mil/cha/MAof the battle

   The noise of the multitude in the mountains like as of a great people, a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together, the Lord of Hosts mustereth the hosts of the battle.

   בָּאִיםba/IMthey comeמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom a countryמֶרְחָקmer/CHAKfarמִקְצֵהmik/TSEfrom the endהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimof heavenאַףafyeaיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiוּכְלֵיu/khe/LEand the weaponsזַעְמוֹza/MOof his indignationלְחַבֵּלle/chab/BELto destroyכׇּל־הָאָרֶץ׃kol-ha/A/retsthe whole land

   They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, yea, the Lord, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

   הֵילִילוּhe/LI/luhowlכִּיkiforקָרוֹבka/ROVis at handיוֹם־יְהוָהyom-Adonaithe day of Adonaiכְּשֹׁדke/SHODas a destructionמִשַּׁדַּיmish/Shad/DAYfrom the Almightyיָבוֹא׃ya/VOit shall come

   Howl ye, for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

   עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeכׇּל־יָדַיִםkol-ya/DA/yimall handsתִּרְפֶּינָהtir/PE/nashall be faintוְכׇל־לְבַבve/KHOL-le/VAVevery heartאֱנוֹשׁe/NOSHof manיִמָּס׃yim/MASshall melt

   Therefore shall all hands be faint, every man’s heart shall melt;

8. 8

   וְנִבְהָלוּve/niv/HA/luand they shall be afraidצִירִיםtsi/RIMpangsוַחֲבָלִיםva/cha/va/LIMand sorrowsיֹאחֵזוּןyo/che/ZUNshall take hold of themאִישׁishoneאֶל־רֵעֵהוּel-re/E/huat anotherיִתְמָהוּyit/MA/huthey shall be amazedפְּנֵיpe/NEfacesלְהָבִיםle/ha/VIMof flamesפְּנֵיהֶם׃pe/ne/HEMtheir faces

   And they shall be afraid; pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיוֹם־יְהוָהyom-Adonaithe day of Adonaiבָּאbacomesאַכְזָרִיakh/za/RIcruelוְעֶבְרָהve/ev/RAwith wrathוַחֲרוֹןva/cha/RONand fierceאָףafangerלָשׂוּםla/SUMto layהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landלְשַׁמָּהle/sham/MAdesolateוְחַטָּאֶיהָve/chat/ta/E/haand the sinners thereofיַשְׁמִידyash/MIDhe shall destroyמִמֶּנָּה׃mim/MEN/naout of it

   Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate; and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

    כִּי־כוֹכְבֵיki-khokh/VEfor the starsהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimof heavenוּכְסִילֵיהֶםu/khe/si/le/HEMand the constellations thereofלֹאloshall notיָהֵלּוּya/HEL/lugiveאוֹרָםo/RAMtheir lightחָשַׁךְcha/SHAKHshall be darkenedהַשֶּׁמֶשׁhash/SHE/meshthe sunבְּצֵאתוֹbe/tse/TOin his going forthוְיָרֵחַve/ya/RE/achand the moonלֹא־יַגִּיהַּlo-yag/GI/ahshall not cause to shineאוֹרוֹ׃o/ROits light

    For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light; the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

11. 11

    וּפָקַדְתִּיu/fa/kad/TIand I will punishעַל־תֵּבֵלal-te/VELthe worldרָעָהra/Afor evilוְעַל־רְשָׁעִיםve/AL-re/sha/IMand the wickedעֲוֹנָםa/vo/NAMfor their iniquityוְהִשְׁבַּתִּיve/hish/bat/TIand I will cause to ceaseגְּאוֹןge/ONthe arrogancyזֵדִיםze/DIMof the proudוְגַאֲוַתve/ga/a/VATand the haughtinessעָרִיצִיםa/ri/TSIMof the terribleאַשְׁפִּיל׃ash/PILwill lay down

    And I will punish the world for evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay down the haughtiness of the terrible.

12. 12

    אוֹקִירo/KIRI will make more preciousאֱנוֹשׁe/NOSHa manמִפָּזmip/PAZthan fine goldוְאָדָםve/a/DAMeven a manמִכֶּתֶםmik/KE/temthan the golden wedgeאוֹפִיר׃O/FIRof Ophir

    I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

13. 13

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeשָׁמַיִםsha/MA/yimthe heavensאַרְגִּיזar/GIZI will shakeוְתִרְעַשׁve/tir/ASHand shall removeהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthמִמְּקוֹמָהּmim/me/ko/MAout of her placeבְּעֶבְרַתbe/ev/RATin the wrathיְהוָהAdonaiof AdonaiצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsוּבְיוֹםu/ve/YOMand in the dayחֲרוֹןcha/RONof fierceאַפּוֹ׃ap/POhis anger

    Therefore, I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of Hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

14. 14

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beכִּצְבִיkits/VIas the roeמֻדָּחmud/DACHchasedוּכְצֹאןu/khe/TSONand as a sheepוְאֵיןve/ENthat no manמְקַבֵּץme/kab/BETStakes upאִישׁishevery oneאֶל־עַמּוֹel-am/MOunto his own peopleיִפְנוּyif/NUshall turnוְאִישׁve/ISHand every oneאֶל־אַרְצוֹel-ar/TSOinto his own landיָנוּסוּ׃ya/NU/sushall flee

    And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up; and they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.

15. 15

    כׇּל־הַגֵּאֶהkol-hag/ge/Eevery one that is proudיִדָּקֵרyid/da/KERshall be thrust throughוְכׇל־הַנִּסְפֶּהve/KHOL-han/nis/PEand every one that is joinedלָרְשָׁעִיםla/re/sha/IMto the wickedיִפּוֹלyip/POLshall fallבֶּחָרֶב׃be/CHA/revby the sword

    Every one that is proud shall be thrust through; yea, and every one that is joined to the wicked shall fall by the sword.

16. 16

    וְעֹלְלֵיהֶםve/ol/le/HEMand their childrenיְרֻטְּשׁוּye/rut/te/SHUshall be dashed to piecesלְעֵינֵיהֶםle/e/ne/HEMbefore their eyesיִשַּׁסּוּyish/SHAS/sushall be spoiledבָּתֵּיהֶםbat/te/HEMtheir housesוּנְשֵׁיהֶםu/ne/she/HEMand their wivesתִּשָּׁכַבְנָה׃tish/sha/KHAV/naravished

    Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled and their wives ravished.

17. 17

    הִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iמֵעִירme/IRwill stir upעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMagainst themאֶת־מָדָיet-Ma/DAYthe Medesאֲשֶׁר־כֶּסֶףa/SHER-KE/sefwhich silverוְזָהָבve/za/HAVand goldלֹאlonotיַחְשֹׁבוּyach/SHO/vushall regardוְלֹאve/LOnor shallיַחְפְּצוּ־בוֹ׃yach/pe/TSU-vothey delight in it

    Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver and gold, nor shall they delight in it.

18. 18

    וּקְשָׁתוֹתu/ke/sha/TOTand their bowsנְעָרִיםne/a/RIMthe young menתְּרַטַּשְׁנָהte/rat/TASH/nashall dash to piecesוּפְרִי־בֶטֶןu/fe/RI-VE/tenand the fruit of the wombלֹאlonotיְרַחֵמוּye/ra/CHE/mushall they have pityעַל־בָּנִיםal-ba/NIMon childrenלֹא־תָחוּסlo-ta/CHUSshall not spareעֵינֵיהֶם׃e/ne/HEMtheir eyes

    Their bows shall also dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children.

19. 19

    וְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand shall beבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonצְבִיtse/VIthe gloryמַמְלָכוֹתmam/la/KHOTof kingdomsתִּפְאֶרֶתtif/E/retthe beautyגְּאוֹןge/ONof the excellencyכַּשְׂדִּיםkaS/DIMof the Chaldeesכְּמַהְפֵּכַתke/mah/pe/KHATas when overthrewאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־סְדֹםet-Se/DOMSodomוְאֶת־עֲמֹרָה׃ve/ET-a/mo/RAand Gomorrah

    And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

20. 20

    לֹא־תֵשֵׁבlo-te/SHEVit shall not be inhabitedלָנֶצַחla/NE/tsachfor everוְלֹאve/LOand notתִשְׁכֹּןtish/KONshall it be dwelt inעַד־דּוֹרad-dorfrom generationוָדוֹרva/DORto generationוְלֹא־יַהֵלve/LO-ya/HELneither shall pitch tentשָׁםshamthereעֲרָבִיA/ra/VIthe Arabianוְרֹעִיםve/ro/IMand the shepherdsלֹא־יַרְבִּצוּlo-yar/BI/tsushall not make their foldשָׁם׃shamthere

    It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

21. 21

    וְרָבְצוּ־שָׁםve/ra/ve/TSU-shambut shall lie thereצִיִּיםtsiy/YIMwild beasts of the desertוּמָלְאוּu/ma/le/Uand shall be fullבָתֵּיהֶםvat/te/HEMtheir housesאֹחִיםo/CHIMof doleful creaturesוְשָׁכְנוּve/sha/khe/NUshall dwellשָׁםshamthereבְּנוֹת־יַעֲנָהbe/NOT-ya/a/NAowlsוּשְׂעִירִיםu/se/i/RIMand satyrsיְרַקְּדוּ־שָׁם׃ye/rak/ke/DU-shamshall dance there

    But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

22. 22

    וְעָנָהve/a/NAand shall cryאִיִּיםiy/YIMthe wild beasts of the islandsבְּאַלְמְנוֹתָיוbe/al/me/no/TAYVin their desolate housesוְתַנִּיםve/tan/NIMand dragonsבְּהֵיכְלֵיbe/HE/khe/lein their palacesעֹנֶגO/negof pleasureוְקָרוֹבve/ka/ROVand is nearלָבוֹאla/VOto comeעִתָּהּit/TAher timeוְיוֹמָהּve/yo/MAand her dayלֹאloshall notיִמָּשֵׁךְyim/ma/SHEKHbe prolongedכִּיkiforאַשְׁמִידֶנָּהash/mi/den/NAI will destroy herמְהֵרָהme/he/RAspeedilyאַףafyeaאֶחְמֹלech/MOLI will be mercifulעַל־עַמִּיal-am/MIunto my peopleוְהָרְשָׁעִיםve/ha/re/sha/IMbut the wickedיֹאבֵדוּ׃yo/VE/dushall perish

    And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces; and her time is near to come, and her day shall not be prolonged. For I will destroy her speedily; yea, for I will be merciful unto my people, but the wicked shall perish.
