   And now I, Moroni, proceed with my record. Therefore, behold, it came to pass that because of the secret combinations of Akish and his friends, behold, they did overthrow the kingdom of Omer.

   אַךְakhbutרִחֵםri/CHEMwas mercifulיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiעַל־עֹמֶרal-O/merunto Omerוְגַםve/GAMand alsoעַל־בָּנָיוal-ba/NAYVunto his sonsוּבְנוֹתָיוu/ve/no/TAYVand his daughtersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹאlonotבִקְשׁוּvik/SHUthey soughtלְהַשְׁמִידוֹ׃le/hash/mi/DOto destroy him

   Nevertheless, the Lord was merciful unto Omer, and also to his sons and to his daughters who did not seek his destruction.

   And the Lord warned Omer in a dream that he should depart out of the land; wherefore Omer departed out of the land with his family, and traveled many days, and came over and passed by the hill of Shim, and came over by the place where the Nephites were destroyed, and from thence eastward, and came to a place which was called Ablom, by the seashore, and there he pitched his tent, and also his sons and his daughters, and all his household, save it were Jared and his family.

   And it came to pass that Jared was anointed king over the people, by the hand of wickedness; and he gave unto Akish his daughter to wife.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatבִקֵּשׁvik/KESHhe soughtאָכִישׁA/KHISHAkishאֶת־נֶפֶשׁet-NE/feshthe lifeחֹתְנוֹchot/NOof his father-in-lawוַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand he appliedאֶל־אֲשֶׁרel-a/SHERunto those whomהִשְׁבִּיעַhish/BI/ahe made swearבִּשְׁבוּעַתbish/vu/ATby the oathהַקַּדְמוֹנִיםhak/kad/mo/NIMof the ancientsוַיַּשִּׂיגוּvay/yas/SI/guand they obtainedאֶת־רֹאשׁet-roshthe headחֹתְנוֹchot/NOof his father-in-lawבְּשִׁבְתּוֹbe/shiv/TOas he satעַל־כִּסְאוֹal-kis/Oupon his throneשֹׁמֵעַsho/ME/agiving audienceאֶת־עַמּוֹ׃et-am/MOto his people

   And it came to pass that Akish sought the life of his father-in-law; and he applied unto those whom he had sworn by the oath of the ancients, and they obtained the head of his father-in-law, as he sat upon his throne, giving audience to his people.

   כִּי־כֹהki-khofor soרַבָּהrab/BAgreatהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasפְּרִישַׂתpe/ri/SATthe spreadingהַחֶבְרָהha/chev/RAof the societyהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe wickedוְהַנִּסְתֶּרֶתve/han/nis/TE/retand the secretהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatהִשְׁחִיתָהhish/chi/TAit corruptedאֶת־לֵבet-levthe heartsכׇּל־הָעָםkol-ha/AMof all the peopleלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeנִרְצַחnir/TSACHwas murderedיֶרֶדYE/redJaredעַל־כִּסְאוֹal-kis/Oupon his throneוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedאָכִישׁA/KHISHAkishתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his stead

   For so great had been the spreading of this wicked and secret society that it had corrupted the hearts of all the people; therefore Jared was murdered upon his throne, and Akish reigned in his stead.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganאָכִישׁA/KHISHAkishלְקַנֵּאle/kan/NEto be jealousבִּבְנוֹbiv/NOof his sonוַיַּאַסְרֵהוּvay/ya/as/RE/huand he shut him upבַּכֶּלֶאbak/KE/lein prisonוַיַּאֲכִילֵהוּvay/ya/a/khi/le/HUand he fed himלֶחֶםLE/chemfoodצַרtsarlittleאוֹoorלֹאlonotהֶאֱכִילוֹhe/e/khi/LOfed himמְאוּמָהme/U/maat allעַד־אֲשֶׁרad-a/SHERuntilמֵת׃methe died

   And it came to pass that Akish began to be jealous of his son, therefore he shut him up in prison, and kept him upon little or no food until he had suffered death.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֲחִיa/CHIthe brotherהַמֵּתham/METof him that diedוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOand his name wasנִמְרָהNim/RANimrahקָצַףka/TSAFwas angryעַל־אָבִיוal-a/VIVwith his fatherבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהa/SHER-a/SAthat which didאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherלְאָחִיו׃le/a/CHIVunto his brother

   And now the brother of him that suffered death, (and his name was Nimrah) was angry with his father because of that which his father had done unto his brother.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatקִבֵּץkib/BETSgathered togetherנִמְרָהNim/RANimrahמִסְפַּרmis/PARa numberאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMof menמְעַטme/ATsmallוַיָּנׇסvay/YA/nosand fledמִן־הָאָרֶץmin-ha/A/retsfrom the landוַיַּעֲבֹרvay/ya/a/VORand came overוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand he dweltעִם־עֹמֶר׃im-O/merwith Omer

   And it came to pass that Nimrah gathered together a small number of men, and fled out of the land, and came over and dwelt with Omer.

10. 10

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהוֹלִידho/LIDbegatאָכִישׁA/KHISHAkishבָּנִיםba/NIMsonsאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMotherוַיִּקְנוּvay/yik/NUand they wonאֶת־לֵבet-levthe heartsהָעָםha/AMof the peopleאַף־כִּיaf-kinotwithstandingנִשְׁבְּעוּnish/be/Uthey sworeלוֹlounto himלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doכׇּל־רֶשַׁעkol-RE/shaall manner of iniquityכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERaccording asחָפֵץ׃cha/FETShe desired

    And it came to pass that Akish begat other sons, and they won the hearts of the people, notwithstanding they had sworn unto him to do all manner of iniquity according to that which he desired.

    וְעַםve/AMand the peopleאָכִישׁA/KHISHof Akishתָּאֲבוּta/a/VUdesiredלְבֶצַעle/VE/tsafor gainכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHEReven asתָּאַבta/AVdesiredאָכִישׁA/KHISHAkishלְמֶמְשָׁלָהle/mem/sha/LAfor powerלָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeנָתְנוּna/te/NUgaveבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sonsאָכִישׁA/KHISHof Akishלָהֶםla/HEMunto themכֶּסֶףKE/sefmoneyוּבָזֹאתu/va/ZOTand by thisמָשְׁכוּma/she/KHUthey drewאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMafter themאֶת־רֹבet-rovthe more partהָעָם׃ha/AMof the people

    Now the people of Akish were desirous for gain, even as Akish was desirous for power; wherefore, the sons of Akish did offer them money, by which means they drew away the more part of the people after them.

12. 12

    וַתָּחֶלvat/TA/cheland there began to beמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarבֵּיןbenbetweenבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sonsאָכִישׁA/KHISHof Akishוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenאָכִישׁA/KHISHAkishוַתֶּאֱרַךְvat/te/e/RAKHand it lastedשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyעַדaduntilהַשְׁמִידhash/MIDthe destructionכִּמְעַטkim/ATof nearlyאֶת־כׇּל־עַםet-kol-amall the peopleהַמַּמְלָכָהham/mam/la/KHAof the kingdomאַףafyeaאֶת־כֻּלָּםet-kul/LAMeven allזוּלַתzu/LATsave it wereשְׁלֹשִׁיםshe/lo/SHIMthirtyנְפָשׁוֹתne/fa/SHOTsoulsוְהַנָּסִיםve/han/na/SIMand those who fledעִם־בֵּיתim-betwith the houseעֹמֶר׃O/merof Omer

    And there began to be a war between the sons of Akish and Akish, which lasted for the space of many years, yea, unto the destruction of nearly all the people of the kingdom, yea, even all, save it were thirty souls, and they who fled with the house of Omer.

13. 13

    לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeהוּשַׁבhu/SHAVwas restoredעֹמֶרO/merOmerשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsto the landנַחֲלָתוֹ׃na/cha/la/TOof his inheritance

    Wherefore, Omer was restored again to the land of his inheritance.

14. 14

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganעֹמֶרO/merOmerלִזְקֹןliz/KONto be oldוְאַךְve/AKHneverthelessהוֹלִידho/LIDbegatבְּזִקְנָתוֹbe/zik/na/TOin his old ageאֶת־עֵמֶרet-E/merEmerוַיִּמְשַׁחvay/yim/SHACHand he anointedאֶת־עֵמֶרet-E/merEmerלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhto be kingלִמְלֹךְlim/LOKHto reignתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his stead

    And it came to pass that Omer began to be old; nevertheless, in his old age he begat Emer; and he anointed Emer to be king to reign in his stead.

15. 15

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterמׇשְׁחוֹmosh/CHOhe anointedאֶת־עֵמֶרet-E/merEmerלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhto be kingוַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landשְׁנָתַיִםshe/na/TA/yimtwo yearsיָמִיםya/MIMof daysוַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand he diedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterרְאוֹתוֹre/o/TOhis seeingיָמִיםya/MIMdaysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהָיוּha/YUwereמְלֵאֵיme/le/Efullיָגוֹןya/GONof sorrowוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatמָלַךְma/LAKHreignedעֵמֶרE/merEmerתַּחְתָּיוtach/TAYVin his steadוַיְמַלֵּאvay/mal/LEand filledאֶת־מִצְעֲדֵיet-mits/a/DEthe stepsאָבִיו׃a/VIVof his father

    And after that he had anointed Emer to be king he saw peace in the land for the space of two years, and he died, having seen exceedingly many days, which were full of sorrow. And it came to pass that Emer did reign in his stead, and did fill the steps of his father.

    וַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainלְהָסִירle/ha/SIRto removeאֶת־הַקְּלָלָהet-hak/ke/la/LAthe curseמֵעַלme/ALfrom offהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landוַיַּצְלִיחַvay/yats/LI/achand prosperedבֵּיתbetthe houseעֵמֶרE/merof Emerמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyבִּימֵיbi/MEin the daysמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTof the reignעֵמֶרE/merof Emerוּבְשִׁשִּׁיםu/ve/shish/SHIMand in sixtyוּשְׁתַּיִםush/TA/yimand twoשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsחָזְקוּcha/ze/KUthey became strongמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatהֶעֱשִׁירוּhe/e/shi/RUthey became richמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyמְאֹד׃me/ODexceedingly

    And the Lord began again to take the curse from off the land, and the house of Emer did prosper exceedingly under the reign of Emer; and in the space of sixty and two years they had become exceedingly strong, insomuch that they became exceedingly rich—

17. 17

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand there wasלָהֶםla/HEMunto themכׇּל־מִינֵיkol-mi/NEall mannerפְרִיfe/RIof fruitוְדָגָןve/da/GANand grainוּמֶשִׁיu/ME/shiand silksוּבוּץu/VUTSand fine linenוְזָהָבve/za/HAVand goldוָכֶסֶףva/KHE/sefand silverוַחֲפָצִיםva/cha/fa/TSIMand thingsיְקָרִים׃ye/ka/RIMprecious

    Having all manner of fruit, and of grain, and of silks, and of fine linen, and of gold, and of silver, and of precious things;

18. 18

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoכׇּל־מִינֵיkol-mi/NEall mannerבְהֵמוֹתve/he/MOTof cattleבָּקָרba/KARoxenוּפָרוֹתu/fa/ROTand cowsוְצֹאןve/TSONand sheepוַחֲזִירִיםva/cha/zi/RIMand swineוְעִזִּיםve/iz/ZIMand goatsוְגַםve/GAMand alsoמִינֵיmi/NEkindsחַיּוֹתchay/YOTof animalsרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyאֲחֵרוֹתa/che/ROTotherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהוֹעִילוּho/i/LUwere usefulלְמַאֲכַלle/ma/a/KHALfor the foodהָאָדָם׃ha/a/DAMof man

    And also all manner of cattle, of oxen, and cows, and of sheep, and of swine, and of goats, and also many other kinds of animals which were useful for the food of man.

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoהָיוּha/YUwereלָהֶםla/HEMto themסוּסִיםsu/SIMhorsesוַחֲמוֹרִיםva/cha/mo/RIMand assesוַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand there wereפִּילִיםpi/LIMelephantsוְקוּרֵלוֹמִיםve/ku/re/lo/MIMand curelomsוְקוּמוֹמִיםve/ku/mo/MIMand cumomsוְכֻלָּםve/khul/LAMand all of themהוֹעִילוּho/i/LUwere usefulלָאָדָםla/a/DAMunto manוְאַף־כִּיve/AF-kiand more especiallyהַפִּילִיםhap/pi/LIMthe elephantsוְהַקּוּרֵלוֹמִיםve/hak/ku/re/lo/MIMand the curelomsוְהַקּוּמוֹמִים׃ve/hak/ku/mo/MIMand the cumoms

    And they also had horses, and asses, and there were elephants and cureloms and cumoms; all of which were useful unto man, and more especially the elephants and cureloms and cumoms.

    וְכֵןve/KHENand thusשָׁפַךְsha/FAKHpoured outיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֶת־בִּרְכוֹתָיוet-bir/kho/TAYVhis blessingsעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsupon the landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasנִבְחֶרֶתniv/CHE/retchoiceמִכׇּל־הָאֲרָצוֹתmik/KOL-ha/a/ra/TSOTabove all the landsוַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he commandedכִּיkithatכׇל־יוֹרֵשׁkhol-yo/RESHwhoso should possessאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landיִירָשֶׁנָּהyi/ra/shen/NAshould possess itלַיהוָהla-Adonaiunto Adonaiאוֹoorיֻשְׁמְדוּyush/me/DUthey should be destroyedבְּהִבָּשְׁלָםbe/hib/ba/she/LAMwhen they were ripenedבֶּעָוֹןbe/a/VONin iniquityכִּיkiforעַל־אֵלֶּהal-EL/leupon suchנְאֻם־יְהוָהne/UM-Adonaisaith Adonaiאֶשְׁפֹּךְesh/POKHI will pour outאֶת־מְלֹאet-me/LOthe fulnessחֲרוֹןcha/RONof the fiercenessאַפִּי׃ap/PIof my wrath

    And thus the Lord did pour out his blessings upon this land, which was choice above all other lands; and he commanded that whoso should possess the land should possess it unto the Lord, or they should be destroyed when they were ripened in iniquity; for upon such, saith the Lord: I will pour out the fulness of my wrath.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatשָׁפַטsha/FATjudgedעֵמֶרE/merEmerבְּצֶדֶקbe/TSE/dekin righteousnessכׇּל־יָמָיוkol-ya/MAYVall his daysוַיּוֹלֶדvay/YO/ledand he begatבָּנִיםba/NIMsonsוּבָנוֹתu/va/NOTand daughtersרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוַיּוֹלֶדvay/YO/ledand he begatאֶת־כּוֹרִיַנְטוּםet-Ko/ri/YAN/tumCoriantumוַיִּמְשַׁחvay/yim/SHACHand he anointedאֶת־כּוֹרִיַנְטוּםet-Ko/ri/YAN/tumCoriantumלִמְלֹךְlim/LOKHto reignתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his stead

    And Emer did execute judgment in righteousness all his days, and he begat many sons and daughters; and he begat Coriantum, and he anointed Coriantum to reign in his stead.

    וְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterמׇשְׁחוֹmosh/CHOhe anointedאֶת־כּוֹרִיַנְטוּםet-Ko/ri/YAN/tumCoriantumלִמְלֹךְlim/LOKHto reignתַּחְתָּיוtach/TAYVin his steadחָיָהcha/YAhe livedאַרְבַּעar/BAfourשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsוַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landוְגַםve/GAMand evenרָאָהra/Ahe sawאֶת־בֶּן־צְדָקָהet-Ben-tse/da/KAthe Son of Righteousnessוַיִּשְׂמַחvay/yis/MACHand rejoicedוַיִּתְפָּאֵרvay/yit/pa/ERand gloriedבְּיָמָיוbe/ya/MAYVin his daysוַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand he diedבְּשָׁלוֹם׃be/sha/LOMin peace

    And after he had anointed Coriantum to reign in his stead he lived four years, and he saw peace in the land; yea, and he even saw the Son of Righteousness, and did rejoice and glory in his day; and he died in peace.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהָלַךְha/LAKHwalkedכּוֹרִיַנְטוּםKo/ri/YAN/tumCoriantumבְּדַרְכֵיbe/dar/KHEin the waysאָבִיוa/VIVof his fatherוַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand builtעָרִיםa/RIMcitiesגְּדוֹלוֹתge/do/LOTmightyרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didהַטּוֹבhat/TOVthat which was goodלְעַמּוֹle/am/MOunto his peopleכׇּל־יָמָיוkol-ya/MAYVall his daysוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notהָיוּha/YUwereלוֹloto himבָנִיםva/NIMchildrenעַד־אֲשֶׁרad-a/SHERuntilזָקֵןza/KENhe was oldמְאֹד׃me/ODexceedingly

    And it came to pass that Coriantum did walk in the steps of his father, and did build many mighty cities, and did administer that which was good unto his people in all his days. And it came to pass that he had no children even until he was exceedingly old.

    And it came to pass that his wife died, being an hundred and two years old. And it came to pass that Coriantum took to wife, in his old age, a young maid, and begat sons and daughters; wherefore he lived until he was an hundred and forty and two years old.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהוֹלִידho/LIDbegatאֶת־כּוֹםet-KomComוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedכוֹםKhomComתַּחְתָּיוtach/TAYVin his steadוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand he reignedאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyוָתֵשַׁעva/TE/shaand nineשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsוַיּוֹלֶדvay/YO/ledand he begatאֶת־חֵתet-ChetHethוַיּוֹלֶדvay/YO/ledand he begatגַּםgamalsoבָּנִיםba/NIMsonsוּבָנוֹתu/va/NOTand daughtersאֲחֵרִים׃a/che/RIMother

    And it came to pass that he begat Com, and Com reigned in his stead; and he reigned forty and nine years, and he begat Heth; and he also begat other sons and daughters.

26. 26

    וְהָעָםve/ha/AMand the peopleהִתְפַּשְּׁטוּhit/pash/she/TUspreadשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainעַל־כׇּל־פְּנֵיal-kol-pe/NEupon all the faceהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the landוַתָּחֶלvat/TA/cheland there began to beשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainרִשְׁעָהrish/Awickednessגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the faceהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the landוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganחֵתChetHethלְחַבֵּקle/chab/BEKto embraceשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainאֶת־מְזִמּוֹתet-me/zim/MOTthe plansסֵתֶרSE/terof secretקַדְמוֹנִיּוֹתkad/mo/niy/YOTof oldלְהַשְׁמִידle/hash/MIDto destroyאֶת־אָבִיו׃et-a/VIVhis father

    And the people had spread again over all the face of the land, and there began again to be an exceedingly great wickedness upon the face of the land, and Heth began to embrace the secret plans again of old, to destroy his father.

27. 27

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהוֹרִידho/RIDhe brought downאֶת־אָבִיוet-a/VIVhis fatherמִכִּסְאוֹmik/kis/Ofrom his throneכִּיkiforהֲרָגוֹha/ra/GOhe slew himבְּחַרְבּוֹbe/char/BOwith his swordוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand he reignedתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his stead

    And it came to pass that he did dethrone his father, for he slew him with his own sword; and he did reign in his stead.

28. 28

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameנְבִיאִיםne/vi/IMprophetsבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainקוֹרְאִיםkor/IMcryingשׁוּבוּSHU/vurepentכִּיkithatעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMthey mustלְפַנּוֹתle/fan/NOTto prepareדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe wayיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiפֶּן־תָּבוֹאpen-ta/VOlest there comeקְלָלָהke/la/LAa curseעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the faceהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the landאַףafyeaיִהְיֶהyih/YEthere should beרָעָבra/AVa famineגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatאֲשֶׁר־בּוֹa/SHER-boin whichיֻשְׁמְדוּyush/me/DUthey should be destroyedאִם־לֹאim-loif notיָשׁוּבוּ׃ya/SHU/vuthey repented

    And there came prophets in the land again, crying repentance unto them—that they must prepare the way of the Lord or there should come a curse upon the face of the land; yea, even there should be a great famine, in which they should be destroyed if they did not repent.

29. 29

    וְלֹאve/LOand notהֶאֱמִיןhe/e/MINbelievedהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלְדִבְרֵיle/div/REthe wordsהַנְּבִיאִיםhan/ne/vi/IMof the prophetsוַיְגָרְשׁוּםvay/ga/re/SHUMand they cast them outוְיֵשׁve/YESHand someאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהִשְׁלִיכוּhish/LI/khuthey castלְבוֹרוֹתle/vo/ROTinto pitsוַיַּעַזְבוּםvay/ya/az/VUMand left themלָמוּתla/MUTto dieוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatעָשׂוּa/SUthey didאֶת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseכְּמִצְוַתke/mits/VATaccording to the commandmentהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhof the kingחֵת׃ChetHeth

    But the people believed not the words of the prophets, but they cast them out; and some of them they cast into pits and left them to perish. And it came to pass that they did all these things according to the commandment of the king, Heth.

30. 30

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganרָעָבra/AVa dearthכָּבֵדka/VEDgreatעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsupon the landוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand they beganהַיּוֹשְׁבִיםhay/yosh/VIMthe inhabitantsלְהִשָּׁמֵדle/hish/sha/MEDto be destroyedמְהֵרָהme/he/RAfastמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofהָרָעָבha/ra/AVthe dearthכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notהָיָהha/YAwasמָטָרma/TARrainעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the faceהָאֲדָמָה׃ha/a/da/MAof the earth

    And it came to pass that there began to be a great dearth upon the land, and the inhabitants began to be destroyed exceedingly fast because of the dearth, for there was no rain upon the face of the earth.

31. 31

    וַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand there came forthגַם־נְחָשִׁיםgam-ne/cha/SHIMalso serpentsמְמִיתִיםme/mi/TIMpoisonousעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the faceהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the landוַיָּמִיתוּvay/ya/MI/tuand poisonedעַם־רַבam-ravmany peopleבְּרוֹשָׁםbe/ro/SHAMwith their poisonוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/lubeganעֶדְרֵיהֶםed/re/HEMtheir flocksלָנוּסla/NUSto fleeמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbeforeהַנְּחָשִׁיםhan/ne/cha/SHIMthe serpentsהַמְּמִיתִיםham/me/mi/TIMthe poisonousאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retstowards the landהַנֶּגֶבhan/NE/gevof the southאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichקָרְאוּka/re/Ucalledלָהּlaitהַנֶּפִיִּיםhan/Ne/fiy/YIMthe Nephitesזָרַהֶמְלָה׃Za/ra/HEM/laZarahemla

    And there came forth poisonous serpents also upon the face of the land, and did poison many people. And it came to pass that their flocks began to flee before the poisonous serpents, towards the land southward, which was called by the Nephites Zarahemla.

32. 32

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּי־רַבִּיםki-rab/BIMthat manyמֵהֶםme/HEMof themאָבְדוּa/ve/DUperishedבַדֶּרֶךְvad/DE/rekhin the wayאַךְakhbutיֵשׁyeshthere were someאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנָסוּNA/sufledאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsinto the landהַנֶּגֶב׃han/NE/gevof the south

    And it came to pass that there were many of them which did perish by the way; nevertheless, there were some which fled into the land southward.

33. 33

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notיִרְדְּפוּyir/de/FUthey should pursueהַנְּחָשִׁיםhan/ne/cha/SHIMthe serpentsעוֹדodany moreאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMafter themכִּי־אִםki-imbutיִגְדְּרוּyig/de/RUthey should hedge upאֶת־הַדֶּרֶךְet-had/DE/rekhthe wayלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notעֲבֹרa/VORpassהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוְכׇל־הַמְנַסֶּהve/KHOL-ham/nas/SEand whoso should attemptלַעֲבֹרla/a/VORto passיִפֹּלyip/POLmight fallבִּידֵיbi/DEby the handsהַנְּחָשִׁיםhan/ne/cha/SHIMof the serpentsהַמְּמִיתִים׃ham/me/mi/TIMthe poisonous

    And it came to pass that the Lord did cause the serpents that they should pursue them no more, but that they should hedge up the way that the people could not pass, that whoso should attempt to pass might fall by the poisonous serpents.

34. 34

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהָלְכוּha/le/KHUwentהָעָםha/AMthe peopleבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhin the wayהַחַיּוֹתha/chay/YOTof the beastsוַיֹּאכְלוּvay/yo/khe/LUand devouredאֶת־נִבְלוֹתet-niv/LOTthe carcassesהַנֹּפְלִיםhan/nof/LIMof those who fellבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhby the wayעַד־אֲשֶׁרad-a/SHERuntilאָכְלוּa/khe/LUthey devouredאֶת־כֻּלָּםet-kul/LAMall of themוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenרָאוּra/Uthey sawהָעָםha/AMthe peopleכִּיkithatיִגְוְעוּyig/ve/Uthey would perishוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand they beganלָשׁוּבla/SHUVto repentמֵעֲוֹנוֹתֵיהֶםme/a/vo/no/te/HEMof their iniquitiesוְלִזְעֹקve/liz/OKand to cryאֶל־יְהוָה׃el-Adonaiunto Adonai

    And it came to pass that the people did follow the course of the beasts, and did devour the carcasses of them which fell by the way, until they had devoured them all. Now when the people saw that they must perish they began to repent of their iniquities and cry unto the Lord.

35. 35

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenנִכְנְעוּnikh/ne/Uhumbled themselvesדַיָּםday/YAMsufficientlyלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiוַיּוֹרֵדvay/yo/REDand he sent downמָטָרma/TARrainעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the faceהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the earthוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלִחְיוֹתlich/YOTto reviveשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beפְּרִיpe/RIfruitבְּאַרְצוֹתbe/ar/TSOTin the landsהַצָּפוֹןhats/tsa/FONof the northוּבְכׇל־הָאֲרָצוֹתu/ve/KHOL-ha/a/ra/TSOTand in all the landsמִסָּבִיבmis/sa/VIVround aboutוַיַּרְאֵםvay/yar/EMand showed themיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֶת־כֹּחוֹet-ko/CHOhis powerבְּהַצִּילוֹbe/hats/tsi/LOin his deliveringאוֹתָםo/TAMthemמִן־הָרָעָב׃min-ha/ra/AVfrom the famine

    And it came to pass that when they had humbled themselves sufficiently before the Lord he did send rain upon the face of the earth; and the people began to revive again, and there began to be fruit in the north countries, and in all the countries round about. And the Lord did show forth his power unto them in preserving them from famine.
