   כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe LordיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsמֵסִירme/SIRtakes awayמִירוּשָׁלַיִםmI/ru/sha/LA/yimfrom Jerusalemוּמִיהוּדָהu/Mi/hu/DAand from Judahמַשְׁעֵןmash/ENthe stayוּמַשְׁעֵנָהu/mash/e/NAand the staffכֹּלkolthe wholeמִשְׁעַן־לֶחֶםmish/AN-LE/chemstaff of breadוְכֹלve/KHOLand the wholeמִשְׁעַן־מָיִם׃mish/AN-MA/yimstay of water

   For behold, the Lord, the Lord of Hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem, and from Judah, the stay and the staff, the whole staff of bread, and the whole stay of water—

2. 2

   גִּבּוֹרgib/BORthe mighty manוְאִישׁve/ISHand the manמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAof warשׁוֹפֵטsho/FETthe judgeוְנָבִיאve/na/VIand the prophetוְקֹסֵםve/ko/SEMand the prudentוְזָקֵן׃ve/za/KENand the ancient

   The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient;

   שַׂר־חֲמִשִּׁיםsar-cha/mish/SHIMthe captain of fiftyוּנְשׂוּא־פָנִיםu/ne/SU-fa/NIMand the honorable manוְיוֹעֵץve/yo/ETSand the counselorוַחֲכַםva/cha/KHAMand the cunningחֲרָשִׁיםcha/ra/SHIMartificerוּנְבוֹןu/ne/VONand the eloquentלָחַשׁ׃LA/chashorator

   The captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counselor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.

4. 4

   וְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will giveנְעָרִיםne/a/RIMchildrenשָׂרֵיהֶםsa/re/HEMas their princesוְתַעֲלוּלִיםve/ta/a/lu/LIMand babesיִמְשְׁלוּ־בָם׃yim/she/LU-vamshall rule over them

   And I will give children unto them to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.

5. 5

   וְנִגַּשׂve/nig/GASand shall be oppressedהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאִישׁishevery oneבְּאִישׁbe/ISHby anotherוְאִישׁve/ISHand every oneבְּרֵעֵהוּbe/re/E/huby his neighborיִרְהֲבוּyir/ha/VUshall behave himself proudlyהַנַּעַרhan/NA/arthe childבַּזָּקֵןbaz/za/KENagainst the ancientוְהַנִּקְלֶהve/han/nik/LEand the baseבַּנִּכְבָּד׃ban/nikh/BADagainst the honorable

   And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbor; the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honorable.

   כִּי־יִתְפֹּשׂki-yit/POSwhen shall take holdאִישׁisha manבְּאָחִיוbe/a/CHIVof his brotherבֵּיתbetof the houseאָבִיוa/VIVof his fatherלֵאמֹרle/MORshall sayשִׂמְלָהsim/LAclothingלְכָהle/KHAyou haveקָצִיןka/TSINbe you rulerלָּנוּLA/nuourוְהַמַּכְשֵׁלָהve/ham/makh/she/LAand the ruinהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאַל־תְּהִיal-te/HIlet not comeתַּחַתTA/chatunderיָדֶךָ׃ya/DE/khayour hand

   When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, and shall say: Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let not this ruin come under thy hand—

7. 7

   יִשָּׂאyis/SAshall he swearבַיּוֹם־הַהוּאvay/YOM-ha/HUin that dayלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹא־אֶהְיֶהlo-eh/YEI will not beחֹבֵשׁcho/VESHa healerוּבְבֵיתִיu/ve/ve/TIand in my houseאֵיןenthere is neitherלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוְאֵיןve/ENand there is notשִׂמְלָהsim/LAclothingלֹאlonotתְשִׂימֻנִיte/si/MU/nimake meקְצִיןke/TSINa rulerעָם׃amof the people

   In that day shall he swear, saying: I will not be a healer; for in my house there is neither bread nor clothing; make me not a ruler of the people.

8. 8

   כִּיkiforכָשְׁלָהkha/she/LAis ruinedיְרוּשָׁלַיִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemוִיהוּדָהVi/hu/DAand Judahנָפָלna/FALis fallenכִּי־לְשׁוֹנוֹתָםki-le/sho/no/TAMbecause their tonguesוּמַעַלְלֵיהֶםu/ma/al/le/HEMand their doingsאֶל־יְהוָהel-Adonaihave been against Adonaiלַמְרוֹתlam/ROTto provokeעֵנֵיe/NEthe eyesכְבוֹדוֹ׃khe/vo/DOof his glory

   For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen, because their tongues and their doings have been against the Lord, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

   הַכָּרַתhak/ka/RATthe showפְּנֵיהֶםpe/ne/HEMof their countenanceעָנְתָהAN/tawitnessesבָּםbamagainst themוְחַטָּאתָםve/chat/ta/TAMand their sinכִּסְדֹםKis/DOMas Sodomהִגִּידוּhig/GI/dudeclaresלֹאlothey cannotכִחֵדוּkhi/CHE/duhideאוֹיoywoלְנַפְשׁוֹתָםle/naf/sho/TAMunto their soulsכִּי־גָמְלוּki-ga/me/LUfor they rewardedלָהֶםla/HEMunto themselvesרָעָה׃ra/Aevil

   The show of their countenance doth witness against them, and doth declare their sin to be even as Sodom, and they cannot hide it. Wo unto their souls, for they have rewarded evil unto themselves!

10. 10

    אִמְרוּim/RUsayצַדִּיקtsad/DIKrighteousכִּי־טוֹבki-tovthat it is well with themכִּי־פְרִיki-fe/RIfor the fruitמַעַלְלֵיהֶםma/al/le/HEMof their doingsיֹאכֵלוּ׃yo/KHE/luthey shall eat

    Say unto the righteous that it is well with them; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

11. 11

    אוֹיoywoלָרְשָׁעִיםla/re/sha/IMunto the wickedכִּי־יֹאבֵדוּki-yo/VE/dufor they shall perishכִּי־גְמוּלki-ge/MULfor the rewardיְדֵיהֶםye/de/HEMof their handsיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beעֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMupon them

    Wo unto the wicked, for they shall perish; for the reward of their hands shall be upon them!

12. 12

    וְעַמִּיve/am/MIand my peopleנְעָרִיםne/a/RIMchildrenנֹגְשֵׂיהֶםnog/se/HEMare their oppressorsוְנָשִׁיםve/na/SHIMand womenמָשְׁלוּMASH/luruleבוֹvoover themעַמִּיam/MIO my peopleמְאַשְּׁרֶיךָme/ash/she/RE/khayour leadersמַתְעִיםmat/IMcause you to errוְדֶרֶךְve/DE/rekhand the wayאֹרְחֹתֶיךָor/cho/TE/khaof your pathsבִּלֵּעוּ׃bil/LE/udestroy

    And my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they who lead thee cause thee to err and destroy the way of thy paths.

13. 13

    נִצָּבnits/TSAVstands upלָרִיבla/RIVto pleadיְהֹוָהAdonaiAdonaiוְעֹמֵדve/o/MEDand standsלָדִיןla/DINto judgeעַמִּים׃am/MIMthe people

    The Lord standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.

14. 14

    יְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiבְּמִשְׁפָּטbe/mish/PATin judgmentיָבוֹאya/VOwill enterעִם־זִקְנֵיim-zik/NEwith the ancientsעַמּוֹam/MOof his peopleוְשָׂרָיוve/sa/RAYVand the princes thereofוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMfor youבִּעַרְתֶּםbi/ar/TEMate upהַכֶּרֶםhak/KE/remthe vineyardגְּזֵלַתge/ze/LATthe spoilהֶעָנִיhe/a/NIof the poorבְּבָתֵּיכֶם׃be/vat/te/KHEMin your houses

    The Lord will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people and the princes thereof; for ye have eaten up the vineyard and the spoil of the poor in your houses.

15. 15

    מַה־לָּכֶםma-la/KHEMwhat mean youתְּדַכְּאוּte/dak/ke/Uyou beat to piecesעַמִּיam/MImy peopleוּפְנֵיu/fe/NEand the facesעֲנִיִּיםa/niy/YIMof the poorתִּטְחָנוּtit/CHA/nugrindנְאֻםne/UMsaithאֲדֹנָיA/do/NAYAdonaiיְהוִהAdonaiGodצְבָאוֹת׃Tse/va/OTof Hosts

    What mean ye? Ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor, saith the Lord God of Hosts.

16. 16

    וְעוֹדve/ODmoreoverיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֹמֵרo/MERsaithיַעַןYA/anbecauseכִּיkithatגָבְהוּga/ve/HUare haughtyבְּנוֹת־צִיּוֹןbe/NOT-tsiy/YONthe daughters of Zionוַתֵּלַכְנָהvat/te/LAKH/naand walkנְטוּיוֹתne/tu/YOTwith stretched outגָּרוֹןga/RONnecksוּמְשַׂקְּרוֹתu/me/sak/ke/ROTand wantonעֵינָיִםe/NA/yimeyesהָלוֹךְha/LOKHwalkingוְטָפֹףve/ta/FOFand mincingתֵּלַכְנָהte/LAKH/naas they goוּבְרַגְלֵיהֶםu/ve/rag/le/HEMand with their feetתְּעַכַּסְנָה׃te/ak/KAS/namaking a tinkling

    Moreover, the Lord saith: Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched-forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet—

17. 17

    וְשִׂפַּחve/sip/PACHtherefore will smite with a scabאֲדֹנָיA/do/NAYAdonaiקׇדְקֹדkod/KODthe crown of the headבְּנוֹתbe/NOTof the daughtersצִיּוֹןTsiy/YONof Zionוַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand Adonaiפׇּתְהֵןpot/HENtheir secret partsיְעָרֶה׃ye/a/REwill lay bare

    Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts.

18. 18

    בַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatיָסִירya/SIRwill take awayאֲדֹנָיA/do/NAYAdonaiאֵת־תִּפְאֶרֶתet-tif/E/retthe braveryהָעֲכָסִיםha/a/kha/SIMof the tinkling ornamentsוְהַשְּׁבִיסִיםve/hash/she/vi/SIMand caulsוְהַשַּׂהֲרֹנִים׃ve/has/sa/ha/ro/NIMand round tires like the moon

    In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments, and cauls, and round tires like the moon;

19. 19

    הַנְּטִפוֹתhan/ne/ti/FOTthe chainsוְהַשֵּׁירוֹתve/hash/she/ROTand the braceletsוְהָרְעָלוֹת׃ve/ha/re/a/LOTand the mufflers

    The chains and the bracelets, and the mufflers;

20. 20

    הַפְּאֵרִיםhap/pe/e/RIMthe bonnetsוְהַצְּעָדוֹתve/hats/tse/a/DOTand the ornaments of the legsוְהַקִּשֻּׁרִיםve/hak/kish/shu/RIMand the headbandsוּבָתֵּי־הַנֶּפֶשׁu/vat/TE-han/NE/feshand the tabletsוְהַלְּחָשִׁים׃ve/hal/le/cha/SHIMand the ear-rings

    The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the ear-rings;

21. 21

    הַטַּבָּעוֹתhat/tab/ba/OTthe ringsוְנִזְמֵיve/niz/MEand the jewelsהָאָף׃ha/AFof the nose

    The rings, and nose jewels;

22. 22

    הַמַּחֲלָצוֹתham/ma/cha/la/TSOTthe changeable suits of apparelוְהַמַּעֲטָפוֹתve/ham/ma/a/ta/FOTand the mantlesוְהַמִּטְפָּחוֹתve/ham/mit/pa/CHOTand the wimplesוְהָחֲרִיטִים׃ve/ha/cha/ri/TIMand the crisping-pins

    The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping-pins;

23. 23

    וְהַגִּלְיֹנִיםve/hag/gil/yo/NIMthe glassesוְהַסְּדִינִיםve/has/se/di/NIMand the fine linenוְהַצְּנִיפוֹתve/hats/tse/ni/FOTand hoodsוְהָרְדִידִים׃ve/ha/re/di/DIMand the veils

    The glasses, and the fine linen, and hoods, and the veils.

24. 24

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beתַחַתTA/chatinstead ofבֹּשֶׂםBO/semsweet smellמַקmakstinkיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beוְתַחַתve/TA/chatand insteadחֲגוֹרָהcha/go/RAof a girdleנִקְפָּהnik/PAa rentוְתַחַתve/TA/chatand insteadמַעֲשֶׂהma/a/SEof well setמִקְשֶׁהmik/SHEhairקׇרְחָהkor/CHAbaldnessוְתַחַתve/TA/chatand insteadפְּתִיגִילpe/ti/GILof a stomacherמַחֲגֹרֶתma/cha/GO/reta girdingשָׂקsakof sackclothכִּיkiburningתַחַתTA/chatinstead ofיֹפִי׃YO/fibeauty

    And it shall come to pass, instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle, a rent; and instead of well set hair, baldness; and instead of a stomacher, a girding of sackcloth; burning instead of beauty.

25. 25

    מְתַיִךְme/TA/yikhyour menבַּחֶרֶבba/CHE/revby the swordיִפֹּלוּyip/PO/lushall fallוּגְבוּרָתֵךְu/ge/vu/ra/TEKHand your mightyבַּמִּלְחָמָה׃bam/mil/cha/MAin the war

    Thy men shall fall by the sword and thy mighty in the war.

26. 26

    וְאָנוּve/a/NUand shall lamentוְאָבְלוּve/a/ve/LUand mournפְּתָחֶיהָpe/ta/CHE/haher gatesוְנִקָּתָהve/nik/KA/taand she shall be desolateלָאָרֶץla/A/retsupon the groundתֵּשֵׁב׃te/SHEVshall sit

    And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she shall be desolate, and shall sit upon the ground.
