   And now, it came to pass that after king Mosiah had had continual peace for the space of three years, he was desirous to know concerning the people who went up to dwell in the land of Lehi-Nephi, or in the city of Lehi-Nephi; for his people had heard nothing from them from the time they left the land of Zarahemla; therefore, they wearied him with their teasings.

   And it came to pass that king Mosiah granted that sixteen of their strong men might go up to the land of Lehi-Nephi, to inquire concerning their brethren.

   And it came to pass that on the morrow they started to go up, having with them one Ammon, he being a strong and mighty man, and a descendant of Zarahemla; and he was also their leader.

   וְלֹאve/LOand notיָדְעוּya/de/Uthey knewאֶת־הַדֶּרֶךְet-had/DE/rekhthe courseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיֵלְכוּyel/KHUthey should travelבַמִּדְבָּרvam/mid/BARin the wildernessלַעֲלוֹתla/a/LOTto go upאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsto the landלֶחִי־נֶפִיLE/chi-NE/fiof Lehi Nephiוַיִּתְעוּvay/yit/Uand they wanderedבַמִּדְבָּרvam/mid/BARin the wildernessיָמִיםya/MIMdaysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyיוֹםyomdaysתָּעוּ׃ta/Uthey wandered

   And now, they knew not the course they should travel in the wilderness to go up to the land of Lehi-Nephi; therefore they wandered many days in the wilderness, even forty days did they wander.

   And when they had wandered forty days they came to a hill, which is north of the land of Shilom, and there they pitched their tents.

   וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonשְׁלֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeמֵאֶחָיוme/e/CHAYVof his brethrenוּשְׁמוֹתָםu/she/mo/TAMand their names wereעֲמָלֵקִיA/ma/le/KIAmalekiוְהֶלֶםve/HE/lemand Helemוְחֵםve/CHEMand Hemוַיֵּרְדוּvay/yer/DUand they went downאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsinto the landנֶפִי׃NE/fiof Nephi

   And Ammon took three of his brethren, and their names were Amaleki, Helem, and Hem, and they went down into the land of Nephi.

   And behold, they met the king of the people who were in the land of Nephi, and in the land of Shilom; and they were surrounded by the king’s guard, and were taken, and were bound, and were committed to prison.

   And it came to pass when they had been in prison two days they were again brought before the king, and their bands were loosed; and they stood before the king, and were permitted, or rather commanded, that they should answer the questions which he should ask them.

   And he said unto them: Behold, I am Limhi, the son of Noah, who was the son of Zeniff, who came up out of the land of Zarahemla to inherit this land, which was the land of their fathers, who was made a king by the voice of the people.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֲבַקֵּשׁa/vak/KESHI desireלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyהֵעַזְתֶּםhe/az/TEMyou daredלָגֶשֶׁתla/GE/shetto come nearאֶל־חוֹמַתel-cho/MATto the wallsהָעִירha/IRof the cityבְּעוֹדbe/ODwhenאֲנִיa/NIIוּמִשְׁמָרִיu/mish/ma/RIand my guardsמִחוּץmi/CHUTSoutsideלַשָּׁעַר׃lash/SHA/arthe gate

    And now, I desire to know the cause whereby ye were so bold as to come near the walls of the city, when I, myself, was with my guards without the gate?

11. 11

    וְעַל־כֵּןve/AL-kenand for this causeהִנַּחְתִּיhin/nach/TII sufferedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouלְהִשָּׁמֵרle/hish/sha/MERto be preservedלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatאֶדְרֹשׁed/ROSHI might inquireמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youוְלוּלֵאve/lu/LEand were it notזֹאתzotthisצִוִּיתִיtsiv/VI/tiI would have causedאֶת־מִשְׁמָרִיet-mish/ma/RImy guardsלַהֲמִיתְכֶםla/ha/mi/te/KHEMto put you to deathנִתַּןnit/TANis permittedלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youלְדַבֵּר׃le/dab/BERto speak

    And now, for this cause have I suffered that ye should be preserved, that I might inquire of you, or else I should have caused that my guards should have put you to death. Ye are permitted to speak.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּרְאוֹתkir/OTwhen sawעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonכִּיkithatנִתַּן־לוֹnit/TAN-lowas permitted unto himלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakוַיִּגַּשׁvay/yig/GASHand he went forthוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּvay/yish/TA/chuand bowed himselfלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand rose upוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהוֹיhoyOהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingמוֹדֶהmo/DEthankfulאֲנִיa/NII amלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto Godהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayכִּיkithatעוֹדֶנִּיo/DEN/niI am yetחַיchaylivingוְנִתַּן־לִיve/nit/TAN-liand is permitted unto meלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakוַאֲדַבְּרָהva/a/dab/be/RAand I will speakבְּאֹמֶץbe/O/metswith the boldnessלֵב׃levof heart

    And now, when Ammon saw that he was permitted to speak, he went forth and bowed himself before the king; and rising again he said: O king, I am very thankful before God this day that I am yet alive, and am permitted to speak; and I will endeavor to speak with boldness;

    כִּיkiforיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowכִּיkithatלוּluifיְדַעְתָּנִיye/da/TA/niyou knew meלֹא־נָתַתָּlo-na/TAT/tayou would not sufferedלָשִׂיםla/SIMto putעָלַיa/LAYupon meהַמּוֹסְרוֹתham/mos/ROTthe bandsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIfor I amעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonמִזֶּרַעmiz/ZE/raa descendantזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaוְעָלִיתִיve/a/LI/tiand came upמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsout of the landזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaלִדְרֹשׁlid/ROSHto inquireאֶת־אַחֵינוּet-a/CHE/nuof our brethrenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהֶעֱלָהhe/e/LAbrought upזֶנִיףZE/nifZeniffמִן־הָאָרֶץmin-ha/A/retsfrom the landהַהִיא׃ha/HIthat

    For I am assured that if ye had known me ye would not have suffered that I should have worn these bands. For I am Ammon, and am a descendant of Zarahemla, and have come up out of the land of Zarahemla to inquire concerning our brethren, whom Zeniff brought up out of that land.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardלִמְהִיLIM/hiLimhiאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe wordsעַמּוֹןAm/MONof Ammonוַיִּשְׂמַחvay/yis/MACHand he rejoicedשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAwith joyגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidעַתָּהat/TAnowיָדֹעַya/DO/aof a suretyיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowכִּיkithatאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the landזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaעוֹדָםo/DAMare yetחַיִּיםchay/YIMaliveוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֶשְׂמָחes/MACHI will rejoiceוּמָחָרu/ma/CHARand on the morrowאֶתֵּןet/TENI will causeלְעַמִּיle/am/MImy peopleלִשְׂמֹחַ׃lis/MO/achto rejoice

    And now, it came to pass that after Limhi had heard the words of Ammon, he was exceedingly glad, and said: Now, I know of a surety that my brethren who were in the land of Zarahemla are yet alive. And now, I will rejoice; and on the morrow I will cause that my people shall rejoice also.

    כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdעֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMare in bondageאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweלַלָּמָנִיםlal/La/ma/NIMto the Lamanitesוְנִגָּשִׂיםve/nig/ga/SIMand are oppressedבְּמַסbe/MASwith a taxכָּבֵדka/VEDgrievousמִנְּשׂוֹאmin/ne/SOto be borneוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיַצִּילוּנוּyats/tsi/lu/NUwill deliver usאַחֵינוּa/CHE/nuour brethrenמֵעַבְדוּתֵנוּme/av/du/te/NUfrom our bondageאוֹoorמִיַּדmiy/YADout of the handהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesוְהָיִינוּve/ha/YI/nuand we will beלָהֶםla/HEMunto themלַעֲבָדִיםla/a/va/DIMfor slavesכִּי־טוֹבki-tovfor betterהֱיוֹתֵנוּhe/yo/TE/nuthat we beעֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMslavesלַנֶּפִיִּיםlan/Ne/fiy/YIMto the Nephitesמִתֵּתmit/TETthan to payמַסmastributeלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhto the kingהַלָּמָנִים׃hal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanites

    For behold, we are in bondage to the Lamanites, and are taxed with a tax which is grievous to be borne. And now, behold, our brethren will deliver us out of our bondage, or out of the hands of the Lamanites, and we will be their slaves; for it is better that we be slaves to the Nephites than to pay tribute to the king of the Lamanites.

    And now, king Limhi commanded his guards that they should no more bind Ammon nor his brethren, but caused that they should go to the hill which was north of Shilom, and bring their brethren into the city, that thereby they might eat, and drink, and rest themselves from the labors of their journey; for they had suffered many things; they had suffered hunger, thirst, and fatigue.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasמִמׇּחֳרָתmim/mo/cho/RATon the morrowוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלִמְהִיLIM/hiLimhiקְרִיאָהke/ri/Aa proclamationבְּכׇל־עַמּוֹbe/KHOL-am/MOamong all his peopleלְהִקָּהֵלle/hik/ka/HELthat should gather themselvesאֶל־הַהֵיכָלel-ha/he/KHALto the templeלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato hearאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERhe should speakאֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMunto them

    And now, it came to pass on the morrow that king Limhi sent a proclamation among all his people, that thereby they might gather themselves together to the temple, to hear the words which he should speak unto them.

    And it came to pass that when they had gathered themselves together that he spake unto them in this wise, saying: O ye, my people, lift up your heads and be comforted; for behold, the time is at hand, or is not far distant, when we shall no longer be in subjection to our enemies, notwithstanding our many strugglings, which have been in vain; yet I trust there remaineth an effectual struggle to be made.

    Therefore, lift up your heads, and rejoice, and put your trust in God, in that God who was the God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob; and also, that God who brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, and caused that they should walk through the Red Sea on dry ground, and fed them with manna that they might not perish in the wilderness; and many more things did he do for them.

    וְעוֹדve/ODand againהָאֵלha/ELthe Godהַהוּאha/HUthat sameהוֹצִיאho/TSIbroughtאֶת־אֲבוֹתֵינוּet-a/vo/TE/nuour fathersמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsout of the landיְרוּשָׁלַיִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimof Jerusalemוַיִּשְׁמֹרvay/yish/MORand keptוַיִּנְצֹרvay/yin/TSORand preservedאֶת־עַמּוֹet-am/MOHis peopleעַד־הַיּוֹםad-hay/YOMeven until the dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdבַּעֲוֹנוֹתֵינוּba/a/vo/no/te/NUbecause of our iniquitiesוְתוֹעֲבוֹתֵינוּve/to/a/vo/te/NUand abominationsהֱבִיאָנוּhe/vi/a/NUthat He brought usלְעַבְדוּת׃le/av/DUTinto bondage

    And again, that same God has brought our fathers out of the land of Jerusalem, and has kept and preserved his people even until now; and behold, it is because of our iniquities and abominations that he has brought us into bondage.

21. 21

    וְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youעֵדִיםe/DIMare witnessesהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayכִּיkithatזֶנִיףZE/nifZeniffאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהׇמְלַךְhom/LAKHwas made kingעַל־הָעָםal-ha/AMover the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבְּקִנְאָתוֹbe/kin/a/TOin his over-zealousnessלָרֶשֶׁתla/RE/shetto inheritאֶת־אֶרֶץet-E/retsthe landאֲבוֹתָיוa/vo/TAYVof his fathersוַיִּפָּתvay/yip/PATand was deceivedבְּעׇרְמַתbe/or/MATby the cunningלָמָןLA/Manof Lamanהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוּבְנִכְלָיוu/ve/nikh/LAYVand by his craftinessאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoכָּרַתka/RATcutבְּרִיתbe/RITa covenantעִם־זֶנִיףim-ZE/nifwith Zeniffוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand yielded upבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handחֵלֶקCHE/leka partמִן־הָאָרֶץmin-ha/A/retsof the landוְגַםve/GAMand evenאֶת־עִירet-irthe cityלֶחִי־נֶפִיLE/chi-NE/fiof Lehi Nephiוְאֶת־עִירve/ET-irand the cityשִׁילֹםSHI/lomof Shilomוְהָאָרֶץve/ha/A/retsand the landסְבִיבוֹתֵיהֶן׃se/vi/vo/te/HENround about

    And ye all are witnesses this day, that Zeniff, who was made king over this people, he being over-zealous to inherit the land of his fathers, therefore being deceived by the cunning and craftiness of king Laman, who having entered into a treaty with king Zeniff, and having yielded up into his hands the possessions of a part of the land, or even the city of Lehi-Nephi, and the city of Shilom; and the land round about—

22. 22

    וְכׇל־זֹאתve/KHOL-zotand all thisעָשָׂהa/SAhe didלְמַעַןle/MA/anso asהָבִיאha/VIto bringאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisתַּחַתTA/chatintoיָדוֹya/DOsubjectionאוֹoorתַּחַתTA/chatintoעַבְדוּתav/DUTbondageוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdכַּיּוֹםkay/YOMat the dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisנִתֵּןnit/TENwe payמַסmastributeלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhto the kingהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesחֲצִיcha/TSIone halfדְּגָנֵנוּde/ga/ne/NUof our cornוּשְׂעוֹרָתֵנוּu/se/o/ra/te/NUand our barleyוְכׇל־תְּבוּאָתֵנוּve/KHOL-te/vu/a/TE/nuand all our grainמִכׇּל־מִיןmik/KOL-minof every kindוַחֲצִיva/cha/TSIand one halfתּוֹלְדוֹתtol/DOTof the increaseצֹאנֵנוּtso/ne/NUof our flocksוּבְקָרֵנוּu/ve/ka/re/NUand our herdsוְיִקַּחve/yik/KACHand shall takeמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe kingהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesחֲצִיcha/TSIone halfכׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לָנוּkol-a/SHER-LA/nuof all that we haveאוֹoorאֶת־נַפְשֵׁנוּ׃et-naf/SHE/nuour lives

    And all this he did, for the sole purpose of bringing this people into subjection or into bondage. And behold, we at this time do pay tribute to the king of the Lamanites, to the amount of one half of our corn, and our barley, and even all our grain of every kind, and one half of the increase of our flocks and our herds; and even one half of all we have or possess the king of the Lamanites doth exact of us, or our lives.

23. 23

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהֲלֹאha/LOis notקָשָׁהka/SHAgrievousהִיאhiitלִנְשֹׂאlin/SOto be borneוּמַה־גָּדוֹלu/MA-ga/DOLand how greatעׇנְיֵנוּon/YE/nuour afflictionהֲלֹאha/LOhave we notרַב־לָנוּrav-LA/numuch reason unto usלִבְכּוֹת׃liv/KOTto mourn

    And now, is not this grievous to be borne? And is not this, our affliction, great? Now behold, how great reason we have to mourn.

24. 24

    הֵןhenyeaאֹמֵרo/MERI sayלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyסִבּוֹתֵינוּsib/bo/te/NUare our causesלִבְכּוֹתliv/KOTto mournכִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdכַּמָּהkam/MAhow manyמֵאַחֵינוּme/a/CHE/nuof our brethrenנֶהֶרְגוּne/her/GUhave been slainוְנִשְׁפַּךְve/nish/PAKHand has been spiltדָּמָםda/MAMtheir bloodלַשָּׁוְאlash/SHAVin vainוְהַכֹּלve/hak/KOLand all thisבֶּעָוֹן׃be/a/VONbecause of iniquity

    Yea, I say unto you, great are the reasons which we have to mourn; for behold how many of our brethren have been slain, and their blood has been spilt in vain, and all because of iniquity.

25. 25

    כִּיkiforלוּלֵאlu/LEwere it not forנָפַלna/FALfellהָעָם־הַזֶּהha/AM-haz/ZEthis peopleבְּפֶשַׁעbe/FE/shainto transgressionלֹא־נָתַןlo-na/TANwould not sufferedיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiלָבוֹאla/VOthat should comeעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe evilהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAthe greatהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלֹא־שָׁמְעוּlo-sha/me/Uthey would not hearלִדְבָרָיוlid/va/RAYVHis wordsוַיָּקוּמוּvay/ya/KU/muand there aroseמְרִיבוֹתme/ri/VOTcontentionsבֵּינֵיהֶםbe/ne/HEMamong themעַד־אֲשֶׁרad-a/SHERuntilשָׁפְכוּsha/fe/KHUthey shedדָּםdambloodבֵּינֵיהֶם׃be/ne/HEMamong themselves

    For if this people had not fallen into transgression the Lord would not have suffered that this great evil should come upon them. But behold, they would not hearken unto his words; but there arose contentions among them, even so much that they did shed blood among themselves.

26. 26

    וְנָבִיאve/na/VIand a prophetלַיהוָהla-Adonaiof Adonaiהֵמִיתוּhe/MI/tuhave they slainהֵןhenyeaאִישׁisha manאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godבָּחִירba/CHIRchosenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוֹכִיחָםho/khi/CHAMrebuked themעַל־רִשְׁעָתָםal-rish/a/TAMof their wickednessוְתוֹעֲבוֹתֵיהֶםve/to/a/vo/te/HEMand abominationsוַיִּנָּבֵאvay/yin/na/VEand prophesiedעַל־דְּבָרִיםal-de/va/RIMof thingsרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיָבוֹאוּya/VO/uare to comeוְגַםve/GAMand evenעַל־בּוֹאal-boof the comingהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achof Christ

    And a prophet of the Lord have they slain; yea, a chosen man of God, who told them of their wickedness and abominations, and prophesied of many things which are to come, yea, even the coming of Christ.

27. 27

    וְיַעַןve/YA/anand becauseאָמַרa/MARhe saidלָהֶםla/HEMunto themכִּיkithatהַמָּשִׁיחַHam/ma/SHI/achChristהוּאhuisהָאֵלha/ELthe GodאֲבִיA/VIthe Fatherכׇל־הַדְּבָרִיםkhol-had/de/va/RIMof all thingsוְכִיve/KHIand thatיִשָּׂאyis/SAHe shall takeעָלָיוa/LAYVupon Himדְּמוּתde/MUTthe imageאָדָםa/DAMof manוְהִיאve/HIand it isהַדְּמוּתhad/de/MUTthe imageאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּהּbain itנִבְרָאniv/RAwas createdהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmanמֵרֹאשׁme/ROSHin the beginningאוֹoorבְּמִלִּיםbe/mil/LIMin wordsאֲחֵרוֹתa/che/ROTotherאָמַרa/MARhe saidכִּיkithatנִבְרָאniv/RAwas createdהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmanבְּצֶלֶםbe/TSE/lemafter the imageאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוְכִיve/KHIand thatיֵרֵדye/REDwould come downאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבֵּיןbenamongבְּנֵי־הָאָדָםbe/NE-ha/a/DAMthe children of menוְיִלְבַּשׁve/yil/BASHand shall put onבָּשָׂרba/SARfleshוָדָםva/DAMand bloodוְיִתְהַלֵּךְve/yit/hal/LEKHand shall walkעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the faceהָאֲדָמָה׃ha/a/da/MAof the earth

    And because he said unto them that Christ was the God, the Father of all things, and said that he should take upon him the image of man, and it should be the image after which man was created in the beginning; or in other words, he said that man was created after the image of God, and that God should come down among the children of men, and take upon him flesh and blood, and go forth upon the face of the earth—

28. 28

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowיַעַןYA/anbecauseאָמַרa/MARhe saidזֹאתzotthisהֱמִיתֻהוּhe/mi/tu/HUthey put him to deathוְעוֹדve/ODand moreדְּבָרִיםde/va/RIMthingsרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyעָשׂוּa/SUdid they doאֲשֶׁר־הֵבִיאוּa/SHER-he/VI/uwhich broughtעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themחֲרוֹן־אַףcha/RON-afthe fierce angerאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeמִיmiwhoיִתְמַהּyit/MAshall wonderכִּיkithatהֵםhemthey areבְּעַבְדוּתbe/av/DUTin bondageוּמֻכִּיםu/muk/KIMand smittenבְּמַכּוֹתbe/mak/KOTwith afflictionsקָשׁוֹת׃ka/SHOTsore

    And now, because he said this, they did put him to death; and many more things did they do which brought down the wrath of God upon them. Therefore, who wondereth that they are in bondage, and that they are smitten with sore afflictions?

29. 29

    כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saidיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiלֹא־אֶעֱזֹרlo-e/e/ZORI will not succorאֶת־עַמִּיet-am/MImy peopleבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the dayפִּשְׁעָםpish/AMof their transgressionכִּי־אִםki-imbutאֶגְדֹּרeg/DORI shall hedge upאֶת־דַּרְכֵיהֶםet-dar/khe/HEMtheir waysלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notיַצְלִיחוּyats/li/CHUthey shall prosperוּמַעַלְלֵיהֶםu/ma/al/le/HEMand their doingsיִהְיוּyih/YUshall beלָהֶםla/HEMunto themלְמִכְשׁוֹל׃le/mikh/SHOLa stumbling block

    For behold, the Lord hath said: I will not succor my people in the day of their transgression; but I will hedge up their ways that they prosper not; and their doings shall be as a stumbling block before them.

30. 30

    וְעוֹדve/ODand againיֹאמַרyo/MARHe saysאִם־יִזְרַעim-yiz/RAif shall sowעַמִּיam/MImy peopleטֻמְאָהtum/Afilthinessיִקְצְרוּyik/tse/RUthey shall reapאֶת־מוֹץet-motsthe chaffבַּסּוּפָהbas/su/FAin the whirlwindוְתוֹצָאָתָהּve/to/tsa/a/TAand the effect thereofרוֹשׁ׃roshis poison

    And again, he saith: If my people shall sow filthiness they shall reap the chaff thereof in the whirlwind; and the effect thereof is poison.

31. 31

    וְעוֹדve/ODand againיֹאמַרyo/MARHe saysאִם־יִזְרַעim-yiz/RAif shall sowעַמִּיam/MImy peopleטֻמְאָהtum/Afilthinessיִקְצְרוּyik/tse/RUthey shall reapרוּחַRU/achthe windקָדִיםka/DIMof the eastהַמֵּבִיאham/me/VIwhich bringsשֶׁבֶרSHE/verdestructionפִּתְאֹם׃pit/OMsuddenly

    And again he saith: If my people shall sow filthiness they shall reap the east wind, which bringeth immediate destruction.

32. 32

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdקָמָהKA/mais fulfilledהַבְטָחַתhav/ta/CHATthe promiseיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand you areמֻכִּיםmuk/KIMsmittenוּמְעֻנִּים׃u/me/un/NIMand afflicted

    And now, behold, the promise of the Lord is fulfilled, and ye are smitten and afflicted.

33. 33

    אַךְakhbutאִם־תָּשׁוּבוּim-ta/SHU/vuif you will turnאֶל־יְהוָהel-Adonaiunto Adonaiבְּכׇל־לְבַבְכֶםbe/KHOL-le/vav/KHEMwith all your heartsוְתִבְטְחוּve/tiv/te/CHUand put your trustבּוֹboin Himוְתַעַבְדוּהוּve/ta/av/du/HUand serve Himבְּכׇל־חֲרִיצוּתbe/KHOL-cha/ri/TSUTwith all the diligenceדַּעְתְּכֶםda/te/KHEMof your mindאִם־תַּעֲשׂוּim-ta/a/SUif you doזֹאתzotthisהוּאhuHeכִּרְצוֹנוֹkir/tso/NOaccording to His willוּכְחֶפְצוֹu/khe/chef/TSOand His pleasureיוֹצִיאֲכֶםyo/tsi/a/KHEMshall deliver youמֵעַבְדוּת׃me/av/DUTout of bondage

    But if ye will turn to the Lord with full purpose of heart, and put your trust in him, and serve him with all diligence of mind, if ye do this, he will, according to his own will and pleasure, deliver you out of bondage.
