   And now, it came to pass that when king Benjamin had made an end of speaking the words which had been delivered unto him by the angel of the Lord, that he cast his eyes round about on the multitude, and behold they had fallen to the earth, for the fear of the Lord had come upon them.

   And they had viewed themselves in their own carnal state, even less than the dust of the earth. And they all cried aloud with one voice, saying: O have mercy, and apply the atoning blood of Christ that we may receive forgiveness of our sins, and our hearts may be purified; for we believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who created heaven and earth, and all things; who shall come down among the children of men.

   And it came to pass that after they had spoken these words the Spirit of the Lord came upon them, and they were filled with joy, having received a remission of their sins, and having peace of conscience, because of the exceeding faith which they had in Jesus Christ who should come, according to the words which king Benjamin had spoken unto them.

   And king Benjamin again opened his mouth and began to speak unto them, saying: My friends and my brethren, my kindred and my people, I would again call your attention, that ye may hear and understand the remainder of my words which I shall speak unto you.

   כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאִם־הֵעִירָהim-he/i/RAif awakenedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouדַּעַתDA/atthe knowledgeחֶסֶדCHE/sedof the goodnessהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלְהַכִּירle/hak/KIRto a senseאֶת־אַפְסוּתְכֶםet-af/sut/KHEMof your nothingnessוְאֶת־שִׁפְלוּתְכֶםve/ET-shif/lut/KHEMand your worthlessnessוּנְפִילַתְכֶם׃u/ne/fi/lat/KHEMand your fallen state

   For behold, if the knowledge of the goodness of God at this time has awakened you to a sense of your nothingness, and your worthless and fallen state—

   I say unto you, if ye have come to a knowledge of the goodness of God, and his matchless power, and his wisdom, and his patience, and his long-suffering towards the children of men; and also, the atonement which has been prepared from the foundation of the world, that thereby salvation might come to him that should put his trust in the Lord, and should be diligent in keeping his commandments, and continue in the faith even unto the end of his life, I mean the life of the mortal body—

   אֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIכִּי־זֶהki-zethat this isהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manיְקַבֵּלye/kab/BELwho receivesיְשׁוּעָהye/shu/Asalvationבַּכַּפָּרָהbak/kap/pa/RAthrough the atonementאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהוּכְנָהhukh/NAhas been preparedמִמּוֹסְדוֹתmim/mos/DOTfrom the foundationהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMof the worldלְכׇל־בְּנֵיle/KHOL-be/NEfor all the childrenהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof menאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהָיוּha/YUwereמֵאָזme/AZsinceנְפִילַתne/fi/LATthe fallאָדָםA/DAMof Adamאוֹoorהַהֹוִיםha/ho/VIMwho areאוֹoorאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיִהְיוּyih/YUshall beעַד־אַחֲרִיתad-a/cha/RITeven unto the endהַיָּמִים׃hay/ya/MIMof the days

   I say, that this is the man who receiveth salvation, through the atonement which was prepared from the foundation of the world for all mankind, which ever were since the fall of Adam, or who are, or who ever shall be, even unto the end of the world.

   וְזֹאתve/ZOTand this isהַדֶּרֶךְhad/DE/rekhthe meansאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּהּbawherebyתָּבוֹאta/VOcomesהַיְשׁוּעָהhay/shu/Athe salvationוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noיְשׁוּעָהye/shu/Asalvationאַחֶרֶתa/CHE/retotherמִלְּבַדmil/le/VADbesidesזוֹzothisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדֻּבַּרdub/BARhas been spokenעָלֶיהָa/LE/haconcerning itוְאֵיןve/ENneither are there anyדְּבָרִיםde/va/RIMconditionsאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMotherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּהֶםba/HEMin themיוּכַלyu/KHALcanהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmanלְהִוָּשֵׁעַle/hiv/va/SHE/abe savedזוּלַתzu/LATexceptהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe conditionsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהִגַּדְתִּיhig/GAD/tiI toldלָכֶם׃la/KHEMyou

   And this is the means whereby salvation cometh. And there is none other salvation save this which hath been spoken of; neither are there any conditions whereby man can be saved except the conditions which I have told you.

   הַאֲמִינוּha/a/MI/nubelieveבֵּאלֹהִיםbe/lo/HIMin Godהַאֲמִינוּha/a/MI/nubelieveכִּי־הוּאki-huthat He isוְכִיve/KHIand thatבָרָאva/RAHe createdכׇל־דָּבָרkhol-da/VARall thingsבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin heavenוּבָאָרֶץu/va/A/retsand in earthהַאֲמִינוּha/a/MI/nubelieveכִּי־לוֹki-lothat to Himכׇל־חׇכְמָהkhol-chokh/MAall wisdomוְכׇל־גְּבוּרָהve/KHOL-ge/vu/RAand all powerבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin heavenוּבָאָרֶץu/va/A/retsand in earthהַאֲמִינוּha/a/MI/nubelieveכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notיָבִיןya/VINdoes comprehendהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmanאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall whichיָבִיןya/VINcan comprehendיְהוָה׃AdonaiAdonai

   Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.

    וְעוֹדve/ODand againהַאֲמִינוּha/a/MI/nubelieveכִּיkithatעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMyou mustלָשׁוּבla/SHUVrepentמֵחַטֹּאתֵיכֶםme/chat/to/te/KHEMof your sinsוְלַעֲזֹבve/la/a/ZOVand forsakeאוֹתָםo/TAMthemוּלְהִשְׁפִּילu/le/hish/PILand humbleנַפְשְׁכֶםnaf/she/KHEMyourselvesלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוּלְבַקֵּשׁu/le/vak/KESHand askבְּלֵבbe/LEVwith a heartתָּמִיםta/MIMof sincerityכִּיkithatיִסְלַחyis/LACHHe would forgiveלָכֶםla/KHEMyouוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאִם־תַּאֲמִינוּim-ta/a/MI/nuif you believeבְּכׇל־אֵלֶּהbe/KHOL-EL/leall theseרְאוּre/Usee thatלַעֲשׂוֹתָם׃la/a/so/TAMyou do them

    And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them.

    And again I say unto you as I have said before, that as ye have come to the knowledge of the glory of God, or if ye have known of his goodness and have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of your sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel.

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youכִּי־אִםki-imthat ifתַּעֲשׂוּta/a/SUyou doזֹאתzotthisתִּשְׂמְחוּtis/me/CHUyou shall rejoiceתָּמִידta/MIDalwaysוְתִמָּלְאוּve/tim/ma/le/Uand be filled withאַהֲבַתa/ha/VATthe loveאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוְתִשְׁמְרוּve/tish/me/RUand retainתָמִידta/MIDalwaysסְלִיחַתse/li/CHATa remissionחֲטָאֵיכֶםcha/ta/e/KHEMof your sinsוְתִגְדְּלוּve/tig/de/LUand you shall growבְּדַעַתbe/DA/atin the knowledgeכְּבוֹדke/VODof the gloryבּוֹרַאֲכֶםBo/ra/a/KHEMof your Creatorאוֹoorבְּדַעַתbe/DA/atin the knowledgeהַצֶּדֶקhats/TSE/dekof that which is justוְהָאֱמֶת׃ve/ha/e/METand true

    And behold, I say unto you that if ye do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with the love of God, and always retain a remission of your sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you, or in the knowledge of that which is just and true.

    וְלֹא־יִהְיֶהve/LO-yih/YEand there shall not beלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youלֵבleva mindלְהָרַעle/ha/RAto injureאִישׁishoneלְרֵעֵהוּle/re/E/huanotherכִּי־אִםki-imbut ratherלָשֶׁבֶתla/SHE/vetto dwellבְּשָׁלוֹםbe/sha/LOMin peaceוְלָתֵתve/la/TETand to renderלְכׇל־אִישׁle/KHOL-ishto every manכְּמִשְׁפָּטוֹ׃ke/mish/pa/TOaccording to that which is his due

    And ye will not have a mind to injure one another, but to live peaceably, and to render to every man according to that which is his due.

    וְלֹאve/LOand you will notתִתְּנוּtit/te/NUsufferלִבְנֵיכֶםliv/ne/KHEMyour childrenלִרְעֹבlir/OVthat they go hungryאוֹoorלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetgoעֵירֻמִּיםe/rum/MIMnakedוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלֹאlonotתִתְּנוּtit/te/NUsufferלָהֶםla/HEMunto themלַעֲבֹרla/a/VORtransgressעַל־תּוֹרַתal-to/RATthe lawsאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוּלְהִלָּחֵםu/le/hil/la/CHEMand fightוְלָרִיבve/la/RIVand quarrelאִישׁishoneבְּאָחִיוbe/a/CHIVwith anotherוְלַעֲבֹדve/la/a/VODand serveאֶת־הַשָּׂטָןet-has/sa/TANthe devilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוּאhuisאֲדוֹןa/DONthe masterהַחֵטְאha/CHETof sinאוֹoorהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe spiritהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe evilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomדִּבְּרוּdib/be/RUspokeעָלָיוa/LAYVof himאֲבוֹתֵינוּa/vo/TE/nuour fathersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוּאhuhe isאוֹיֵבo/YEVan enemyלְכׇלle/KHOLto allצְדָקָה׃tse/da/KArighteousness

    And ye will not suffer your children that they go hungry, or naked; neither will ye suffer that they transgress the laws of God, and fight and quarrel one with another, and serve the devil, who is the master of sin, or who is the evil spirit which hath been spoken of by our fathers, he being an enemy to all righteousness.

    אַךְakhbutתְּלַמְּדוּםte/lam/me/DUMyou will teach themלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto walkבְּדַרְכֵיbe/dar/KHEin the waysהָאֱמֶתha/e/METof truthוְהַיֹּשֶׁרve/hay/YO/sherand sobernessתְּלַמְּדוּםte/lam/me/DUMyou will teach themלֶאֱהֹבle/e/HOVto loveאִישׁishoneאֶת־אָחִיוet-a/CHIVanotherוְלַעֲבֹדve/la/a/VODand to serveאִישׁishoneאֶת־אָחִיו׃et-a/CHIVanother

    But ye will teach them to walk in the ways of truth and soberness; ye will teach them to love one another, and to serve one another.

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoאַתֶּםat/TEMyou yourselvesתַּעַזְרוּta/az/RUyou will succorלַנִּצְרָכִיםlan/nits/ra/KHIMthose that stand in needלְעֶזְרַתְכֶםle/ez/rat/KHEMof your succorתִּתְּנוּtit/te/NUyou will administerמֵרְכוּשְׁכֶםmer/khush/KHEMof your substanceלַנִּצְרָךְlan/nits/RAKHunto him that stands in needוְלֹאve/LOand you will notתִתְּנוּtit/te/NUsufferלַמְבַקֵּשׁlam/vak/KESHthat he who asksנְדָבָהne/da/VAalmsלְהַעֲלוֹתle/ha/a/LOTputs upבַּקָּשָׁתוֹbak/ka/sha/TOhis petitionאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youלַשָּׁוְאlash/SHAVin vainוּלְשַׁלְּחוֹu/le/shal/le/CHOand turn him outלַאֲבֹד׃la/a/VODto perish

    And also, ye yourselves will succor those that stand in need of your succor; ye will administer of your substance unto him that standeth in need; and ye will not suffer that the beggar putteth up his petition to you in vain, and turn him out to perish.

17. 17

    אוּלַיu/LAYperhapsתֹּאמַרto/MARyou will sayהֵבִיאhe/VIbroughtהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manעַל־נַפְשׁוֹal-naf/SHOupon himselfאֶת־עׇנְיוֹet-on/YOhis miseryלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאֶמְנַעem/NAI will stayיָדִיya/DImy handוְלֹאve/LOand will notאֶתֵּןet/TENI shall giveלוֹlohimמִלַּחְמִיmil/lach/MIof my foodוְלֹאve/LOnorאֶתֵּןet/TENI shall impartלוֹlounto himמֵרְכוּשִׁיmer/khu/SHIof my substanceלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatלֹא־יִסְבֹּלlo-yis/BOLhe shall not sufferכִּיkiforעֳנָשָׁיוo/na/SHAYVhis punishmentsצֶדֶק׃TSE/dekare just

    Perhaps thou shalt say: The man has brought upon himself his misery; therefore I will stay my hand, and will not give unto him of my food, nor impart unto him of my substance that he may not suffer, for his punishments are just—

18. 18

    אַךְakhbutאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלְךָle/KHAunto youהוֹיhoyOאָדָםa/DAMmanכׇּל־הָעֹשֶׂהkol-ha/o/SEwhosoever doesכָּזֹאתka/ZOTsuchיֶשׁ־לוֹyesh-lohasסִבָּהsib/BAcauseגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatלָשׁוּבla/SHUVto repentוְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notיָשׁוּבya/SHUVrepentמִמַּעֲשָׂיוmim/ma/a/SAYVof that which he didיֹאבַדyo/VADhe shall perishלָנֶצַחla/NE/tsachforeverוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noלוֹlounto himחֵלֶקCHE/lekpartבְּמַלְכוּתbe/mal/KHUTin the kingdomהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMof God

    But I say unto you, O man, whosoever doeth this the same hath great cause to repent; and except he repenteth of that which he hath done he perisheth forever, and hath no interest in the kingdom of God.

19. 19

    כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהֲלֹאha/LOare we notכֻלָּנוּkhul/LA/nuallאֶבְיוֹנִיםev/yo/NIMbeggarsהֲלֹאha/LOdo we notכֻלָּנוּkhul/LA/nuallנִשְׁעָנִיםnish/a/NIMdependעַל־אֱלֹהִיםal-e/lo/HIMupon Godלְכׇל־רְכוּשֵׁנוּle/KHOL-re/khu/SHE/nufor all our substanceגַּם־לְמָזוֹןgam-le/ma/ZONboth for foodוּלְמַלְבּוּשׁu/le/mal/BUSHand for raimentוּלְזָהָבu/le/za/HAVand for goldוּלְכֶסֶףu/le/KHE/sefand for silverוּלְכׇל־הָעֹשֶׁרu/le/KHOL-ha/O/sherand for all the richesאֲשֶׁר־לָנוּa/SHER-LA/nuwhich we haveמִכׇּל־מִין׃mik/KOL-minof every kind

    For behold, are we not all beggars? Do we not all depend upon the same Being, even God, for all the substance which we have, for both food and raiment, and for gold, and for silver, and for all the riches which we have of every kind?

20. 20

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdגַם־בָּעֵתgam-ba/ETeven at the timeהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisקְרָאתֶםke/ra/TEMyou have been callingבִּשְׁמוֹbish/MOon His nameוּבִקַּשְׁתֶּםu/vik/kash/TEMand beggingסְלִיחַתse/li/CHATfor a remissionחֲטָאֵיכֶםcha/ta/e/KHEMof your sinsהֲנָתַןha/na/TANhas He sufferedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouלְבַקֵּשׁle/vak/KESHto begלַשָּׁוְאlash/SHAVin vainלֹאlonayכִּיkiforשָׁפַךְsha/FAKHHe poured outרוּחוֹRu/CHOHis Spiritעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMupon youוַיְמַלֵּאvay/mal/LEand caused that should be filledאֶת־לִבְּכֶםet-lib/be/KHEMyour heartsשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAjoyוַיִּסְכֹּרvay/yis/KORand caused that should be stoppedאֶת־פִּיכֶםet-pi/KHEMyour mouthsוְלֹאve/LOthat you could notמְצָאתֶםme/tsa/TEMfindמִלִּיםmil/LIMutteranceכִּי־גָדְלָהki-ga/de/LAthat great isשִׂמְחַתְכֶםsim/chat/KHEMyour joyעַד־מְאֹד׃ad-me/ODexceedingly

    And behold, even at this time, ye have been calling on his name, and begging for a remission of your sins. And has he suffered that ye have begged in vain? Nay; he has poured out his Spirit upon you, and has caused that your hearts should be filled with joy, and has caused that your mouths should be stopped that ye could not find utterance, so exceedingly great was your joy.

21. 21

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאִם־אֱלֹהִיםim-e/lo/HIMif Godאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבְּרָאֲכֶםbe/ra/a/KHEMcreated youאֲשֶׁר־בּוֹa/SHER-boupon whomתְּלוּיִיםte/lu/YIMyou are dependentחַיֵּיכֶםchay/ye/KHEMfor your livesוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand for all thatלָכֶםla/KHEMyou haveוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand all thatאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areנוֹתֵןno/TENgrantsלָכֶםla/KHEMyouכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERall whichתְּבַקְשׁוּte/vak/SHUyou shall askבְּצֶדֶקbe/TSE/dekin righteousnessבֶּאֱמוּנָהbe/e/mu/NAin faithמַאֲמִינִיםma/a/mi/NIMbelievingכִּיkithatתְּקַבְּלוּte/kab/be/LUyou shall receiveהוֹיhoyOכַּמָּהkam/MAhow muchעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMought youלָתֵתla/TETto giveמֵרְכוּשְׁכֶםmer/khush/KHEMof the substance that you haveאִישׁishoneלְרֵעֵהוּ׃le/re/E/huto another

    And now, if God, who has created you, on whom you are dependent for your lives and for all that ye have and are, doth grant unto you whatsoever ye ask that is right, in faith, believing that ye shall receive, O then, how ye ought to impart of the substance that ye have one to another.

22. 22

    וְאִם־תִּשְׁפְּטוּve/IM-tish/pe/TUand if you judgeאֶת־הָאִישׁet-ha/ISHthe manהַמְבַקֵּשׁham/vak/KESHwho asksמֵרְכוּשְׁכֶםmer/khush/KHEMof your substanceלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatלֹא־יֹאבַדlo-yo/VADhe will not perishוְתַרְשִׁיעוּve/tar/shi/Uand condemnאוֹתוֹo/TOhimכַּמָּהkam/MAhow muchיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreצֶדֶקTSE/dekjustתִּהְיֶהtih/YEshall beאַשְׁמַתְכֶםash/mat/KHEMyour condemnationעַל־מׇנְעֲכֶםal-mon/a/KHEMfor withholdingרְכוּשְׁכֶםre/khush/KHEMyour substanceאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹאlodoes notלָכֶםla/KHEMto youהוּאhubelongsכִּי־אִםki-imbut toלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMGodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERto whomגַּם־חַיֵּיכֶםgam-chay/ye/KHEMalso your livesלוֹlounto Himהֵםhembelongוְעוֹדve/ODand yetלֹאlonotהֶעֱלִיתֶםhe/e/li/TEMyou put upבַּקָּשָׁהbak/ka/SHApetitionוְלֹאve/LOnorשַׁבְתֶּםshav/TEMyou repentedמִמַּעֲשֵׂיכֶם׃mim/ma/a/se/KHEMof the thing which you did

    And if ye judge the man who putteth up his petition to you for your substance that he perish not, and condemn him, how much more just will be your condemnation for withholding your substance, which doth not belong to you but to God, to whom also your life belongeth; and yet ye put up no petition, nor repent of the thing which thou hast done.

23. 23

    אֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youאוֹיoywoלָאִישׁla/ISHunto the manהַהוּאha/HUthatכִּיkiforרְכוּשׁוֹre/khu/SHOhis substanceיֹאבַדyo/VADshall perishעִמּוֹim/MOwith himוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseלָעֲשִׁירִיםla/a/shi/RIMunto those who are richבְּעִנְיְנֵיbe/in/ye/NEas pertaining to the thingsהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMof the worldהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    I say unto you, wo be unto that man, for his substance shall perish with him; and now, I say these things unto those who are rich as pertaining to the things of this world.

24. 24

    וְעוֹדve/ODand againאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָעֲנִיִּיםla/a/niy/YIMunto the poorאַתֶּםat/TEMyouאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאֵיןenthere is noלָכֶםla/KHEMto youוְיֵשׁve/YESHand yet haveלָכֶםla/KHEMto youדֵּיdesufficient forמַחְסוֹרְכֶםmach/sor/KHEMyour needsמִיּוֹםmiy/YOMfrom dayלְיוֹםle/YOMto dayרְצוֹנִיre/tso/NII meanלֵאמֹרle/MORto sayלְכׇל־הַמּוֹנְעִיםle/KHOL-ham/mon/IMto all who denyמִן־הָאֶבְיוֹןmin-ha/ev/YONfrom the beggarכִּיkibecauseאֵיןenthere is noלָכֶםla/KHEMto youחָפַצְתִּיcha/FATS/tiI would thatכִּיkithatתֹאמְרוּto/me/RUyou sayבִּלְבַבְכֶםbil/vav/KHEMin your heartsלֹא־אֶתֵּןlo-et/TENI will not giveכִּיkibecauseאֵין־לִיen-liI have notאַךְakhbutאִם־הָיָהim-ha/YAif there wereלִיlito meהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI would beנוֹתֵן׃no/TENgiving

    And again, I say unto the poor, ye who have not and yet have sufficient, that ye remain from day to day; I mean all you who deny the beggar, because ye have not; I would that ye say in your hearts that: I give not because I have not, but if I had I would give.

25. 25

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאִם־תֹּאמְרוּim-to/me/RUif you sayזֹאתzotthisבִּלְבַבְכֶםbil/vav/KHEMin your heartsתִּשָּׁאֲרוּtish/sha/a/RUyou shall remainנְקִיִּיםne/kiy/YIMguiltlessוְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notתֵּחָשְׁבוּte/cha/she/VUyou shall be reckonedאֲשֵׁמִיםa/she/MIMguiltyוְאַשְׁמַתְכֶםve/ash/mat/KHEMand your condemnationצֶדֶקTSE/dekis justכִּיkiforחֲמַדְתֶּםcha/mad/TEMyou covetאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERthat whichלֹאloyou have notקִבַּלְתֶּם׃kib/bal/TEMreceived

    And now, if ye say this in your hearts ye remain guiltless, otherwise ye are condemned; and your condemnation is just for ye covet that which ye have not received.

26. 26

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tiI spokeאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMunto youלֵאמֹרle/MORthat isלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתִּשְׁמְרוּtish/me/RUyou shall keepסְלִיחַתse/li/CHATa remissionחֲטָאֵיכֶםcha/ta/e/KHEMof your sinsמִיּוֹםmiy/YOMfrom dayלְיוֹםle/YOMto dayלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתֵּלְכוּtel/KHUyou may walkנְקִיִּיםne/kiy/YIMguiltlessלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodחָפַצְתִּיcha/FATS/tiI would thatכִּיkithatתִתְּנוּtit/te/NUyou should impartמֵרְכוּשְׁכֶםmer/khush/KHEMof your substanceלָעֲנִיִּיםla/a/niy/YIMto the poorאִישׁishevery manכְּפִיke/FIaccording toאֲשֶׁר־לוֹa/SHER-lothat which he hasלְהַאֲכִילle/ha/a/KHILsuch as feedingרְעֵבִיםre/e/VIMthe hungryלְהַלְבִּישׁle/hal/BISHclothingעֲרֻמִּיםa/rum/MIMthe nakedלִפְקֹדlif/KODvisitingחוֹלִיםcho/LIMthe sickוְלַעֲזֹרve/la/a/ZORand to relieveלָהֶםla/HEMthemגַּם־בְּרוּחַgam-be/RU/achboth spirituallyגַּם־בְּגוּףgam-be/GUFand temporallyכְּפִיke/FIaccording toמַחְסוֹרָם׃mach/so/RAMtheir wants

    And now, for the sake of these things which I have spoken unto you—that is, for the sake of retaining a remission of your sins from day to day, that ye may walk guiltless before God—I would that ye should impart of your substance to the poor, every man according to that which he hath, such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and administering to their relief, both spiritually and temporally, according to their wants.

27. 27

    וּרְאוּu/re/Uand seeכִּיkithatיֵעָשׂוּye/a/SUare doneכׇל־הַדְּבָרִיםkhol-had/de/va/RIMall the thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseבְּחׇכְמָהbe/chokh/MAin wisdomוּבְסֵדֶרu/ve/SE/derand orderכִּי־לֹאki-lofor it is notנִדְרָשׁnid/RASHrequisiteמֵאָדָםme/a/DAMthat a manלָרוּץla/RUTSshould runמַהֵרma/HERfasterמִכֹּחוֹmik/ko/CHOthan he has strengthוְעוֹדve/ODand againרָאוּיra/UYit is expedientכִּיkithatיִהְיֶהyih/YEhe shall beחָרוּץcha/RUTSdiligentלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיַשִּׂיגyas/SIGhe might winאֶת־הַשָּׂכָרet-has/sa/KHARthe prizeלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeיֵעָשׂוּye/a/SUmust be doneכׇל־הַדְּבָרִיםkhol-had/de/va/RIMall thingsבְּסֵדֶר׃be/SE/derin order

    And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order.

28. 28

    וְחָפַצְתִּיve/cha/FATS/tiand I would thatכִּיkithatתִזְכְּרוּtiz/ke/RUyou should rememberכִּיkithatכׇּלkolwhosoeverהַלֹּוֶהhal/lo/VEborrowsמֵרֵעֵהוּme/re/E/huof his neighborיָשִׁיבya/SHIVshall returnאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERthat whichלָוָהla/VAhe borrowedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERjust asיֵאוֹתye/OThe agreesוְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notתֶּחֱטָאte/che/TAyou shall sinוְאוּלַיve/u/LAYand perhapsתָּבִיאta/VIyou shall causeגַּם־אֶת־רֵעֲךָgam-et-re/a/KHAyour neighbor alsoלַחֲטֹא׃la/cha/TOto sin

    And I would that ye should remember, that whosoever among you borroweth of his neighbor should return the thing that he borroweth, according as he doth agree, or else thou shalt commit sin; and perhaps thou shalt cause thy neighbor to commit sin also.

29. 29

    וּבְאַחֲרֹנָהu/ve/a/cha/ro/NAand finallyלֹאlonotאוּכַלu/KHALI am ableלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto declareלָכֶםla/KHEMyouאֶת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the thingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּהֶםba/HEMin themתּוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou mayלַחֲטֹאla/cha/TOcommit sinכִּי־יֵשׁki-yeshfor there areדְּרָכִיםde/ra/KHIMwaysוּנְתִיבוֹתu/ne/ti/VOTand meansשׁוֹנִיםsho/NIMdiversרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyעַד־כִּיad-kiso thatלֹאlonotאוּכַלu/KHALI am ableלִסְפֹּרlis/PORto numberאוֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    And finally, I cannot tell you all the things whereby ye may commit sin; for there are divers ways and means, even so many that I cannot number them.

30. 30

    אַךְakhbutזֹאתzotthis muchאוּכַלu/KHALI canלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto declareלָכֶםla/KHEMyouכִּי־אִםki-imthat ifלֹאloyou do notתִשְׁמְרוּtish/me/RUyou watchאֶת־נַפְשְׁכֶםet-naf/she/KHEMyourselvesוְאֶת־מַחְשְׁבוֹתֵיכֶםve/ET-mach/she/vo/te/KHEMand your thoughtsוְאֶת־דִּבְרֵיכֶםve/ET-div/re/KHEMand your wordsוְאֶת־מַעֲשֵׂיכֶםve/ET-ma/a/se/KHEMand your deedsוְתִשְׁמְרוּve/tish/me/RUand observeאֶת־מִצְוֹתet-mits/VOTthe commandmentsאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוְתַחֲזִיקוּve/ta/cha/zi/KUand continueבֶּאֱמוּנַתbe/e/mu/NATin the faithאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whichשְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou heardעַל־בּוֹאal-boconcerning the comingאֲדֹנֵינוּa/do/NE/nuof our Lordעַד־קֵץad-ketseven unto the endחַיֵּיכֶםchay/ye/KHEMof your livesאָבֹדa/VODperishתֹּאבֵדוּto/VE/duyou must perishוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהוֹיhoyOאָדָםa/DAMmanזְכֹרze/KHORrememberוְאַלve/ALand notתֹּאבֵד׃to/VEDperish

    But this much I can tell you, that if ye do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts, and your words, and your deeds, and observe the commandments of God, and continue in the faith of what ye have heard concerning the coming of our Lord, even unto the end of your lives, ye must perish. And now, O man, remember, and perish not.
