   Verily, verily, I say that I would that ye should do alms unto the poor; but take heed that ye do not your alms before men to be seen of them; otherwise ye have no reward of your Father who is in heaven.

   Therefore, when ye shall do your alms do not sound a trumpet before you, as will hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

   וְאַתָּהve/at/TAbut youבַּעֲשׂוֹתְךָba/a/sot/KHAwhen you doצְדָקָהtse/da/KAalmsאַל־תֵּדַעal-te/DAlet not knowשְׂמֹאלְךָse/mo/le/KHAyour left handאֵתetthatאֲשֶׁר־תַּעֲשֶׂהa/SHER-ta/a/SEwhich doesיְמִינֶךָ׃ye/mi/NE/khayour right hand

   But when thou doest alms let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth;

   לְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתִּהְיֶהtih/YEmay beצִדְקָתְךָtsid/ka/te/KHAyour almsבַּסָּתֶרbas/SA/terin secretוְאָבִיךָve/A/VI/khaand your Fatherהָרֹאֶהha/ro/Ewhich seesבַּסֵּתֶרbas/SE/terin secretהוּאhuhimselfיִגְמָלְךָyig/ma/le/KHAshall reward youבַּגָּלוּי׃bag/ga/LUYopenly

   That thine alms may be in secret; and thy Father who seeth in secret, himself shall reward thee openly.

   And when thou prayest thou shalt not do as the hypocrites, for they love to pray, standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

   וְאַתָּהve/at/TAbut youבְּהִתְפַּלֶּלְךָbe/hit/pal/lel/KHAwhen you prayבֹּאboenterבְּחֶדְרְךָbe/ched/re/KHAinto your closetוּסְגֹרu/se/GORand shutדְּלָתְךָde/la/te/KHAyour doorבַּעֲדֶךָba/a/DE/khabehind youוְהִתְפַּלֵּלve/hit/pal/LELand prayאֶל־אָבִיךָel-A/VI/khato your Fatherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבַּסָּתֶרbas/SA/terin secretוְאָבִיךָve/A/VI/khaand your Fatherהָרֹאֶהha/ro/Ewhich seesבַּסֵּתֶרbas/SE/terin secretיִגְמָלְךָyig/ma/le/KHAshall reward youבַּגָּלוּי׃bag/ga/LUYopenly

   But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

   וּבְהִתְפַּלֶּלְכֶםu/ve/hit/pal/lel/KHEMbut when you prayאַל־תַּרְבּוּal-tar/BUuse notדְבָרִיםde/va/RIMvain repetitionsכַּגּוֹיִםkag/go/YIMas the heathenכִּיkiforחֹשְׁבִיםchosh/VIMthinkהֵםhemtheyכִּיkithatבְּרֹבbe/ROVfor muchדִּבְרֵיהֶםdiv/re/HEMtheir speakingיִשָּׁמֵעוּ׃yish/sha/me/Uthey shall be heard

   But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen, for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאַל־תִּדְמוּal-tid/MUbe not likeלָהֶםla/HEMunto themכִּיkiforיוֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowsאֲבִיכֶםA/vi/KHEMyour Fatherאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhat thingsתֶּחְסְרוּtech/se/RUyou have needבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/remof beforeתִּשְׁאֲלוּtish/a/LUyou askמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nufrom him

   Be not ye therefore like unto them, for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of before ye ask him.

   וְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand after this mannerתִתְפַּלְלוּtit/pal/LUprayאָבִינוּA/VI/nuour Fatherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin heavenיִתְקַדַּשׁyit/kad/DASHhallowed beשְׁמֶךָ׃she/ME/khayour name

   After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

    יֵעָשֶׂהye/a/SEbe doneרְצוֹנְךָre/tson/KHAyour willבָּאָרֶץba/A/retson earthכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasנַעֲשָׂהna/a/SAit is doneבַשָּׁמָיִם׃vash/sha/MA/yimin heaven

    Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

11. 11

    וּסְלַחu/se/LACHand forgiveלָנוּLA/nuusאֶת־חוֹבוֹתֵינוּet-cho/vo/te/NUour debtsכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasסָלַחְנוּsa/lach/NUwe forgiveלְחַיָּבֵינוּ׃le/chay/ya/ve/NUour debtors

    And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

12. 12

    וְאַל־תְּבִיאֵנוּve/AL-te/vi/e/NUand lead us notלְמַסָּהle/mas/SAinto temptationכִּי־אִםki-imbutהַצִּילֵנוּhats/tsi/LE/nudeliver usמִן־הָרָע׃min-ha/RAfrom evil

    And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

13. 13

    כִּיkiforלְךָle/KHAyours isהַמַּמְלָכָהham/mam/la/KHAthe kingdomוְהַגְּבוּרָהve/hag/ge/vu/RAand the powerוְהַתִּפְאֶרֶתve/hat/tif/E/retand the gloryלְעוֹלָמִיםle/o/la/MIMforeverאָמֵן׃a/MENAmen

    For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

14. 14

    כִּיkiforאִם־תִּסְלְחוּim-tis/le/CHUif you forgiveלַאֲנָשִׁיםla/a/na/SHIMmenאֶת־פִּשְׁעֵיהֶםet-pish/e/HEMtheir trespassesיִסְלַחyis/LACHwill forgiveלָכֶםla/KHEMyouגַּם־אֲבִיכֶםgam-A/vi/KHEMyour Father alsoאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבַּשָּׁמָיִם׃bash/sha/MA/yimin the heavens

    For, if ye forgive men their trespasses your heavenly Father will also forgive you;

15. 15

    וְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notתִסְלְחוּtis/le/CHUyou forgiveלַאֲנָשִׁיםla/a/na/SHIMmenאֶת־פִּשְׁעֵיהֶםet-pish/e/HEMtheir trespassesגַּם־אֲבִיכֶםgam-A/vi/KHEMyour Father alsoלֹא־יִסְלַחlo-yis/LACHwill not forgiveלָכֶםla/KHEMyouאֶת־פִּשְׁעֵיכֶם׃et-pish/e/KHEMyour trespasses

    But if ye forgive not men their trespasses neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

    וְעוֹדve/ODmoreoverבְּצוּמְכֶםbe/tsum/KHEMwhen you fastאַל־תִּהְיוּal-tih/YUbe notכַּחֲנֵפִיםka/cha/ne/FIMas the hypocritesזֹעֲפֵיzo/a/FEof a sadפָנִיםfa/NIMcountenanceכִּיkiforמְשַׁנִּיםme/shan/NIMthey disfigureאֶת־פְּנֵיהֶםet-pe/ne/HEMtheir facesלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיֵרָאוּye/ra/Uthey may appearלָאֲנָשִׁיםla/a/na/SHIMunto menצָמִיםtsa/MIMto fastאָמֵןa/MENverilyאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשְׂכָרָם׃se/kha/RAMtheir reward

    Moreover, when ye fast be not as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance, for they disfigure their faces that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

    וְאַתָּהve/at/TAbut youבְּצוּמְךָbe/tsum/KHAwhen you fastסוּךְsukhanointרֹאשְׁךָro/she/KHAyour headוּרְחַץu/re/CHATSand washפָּנֶיךָ׃pa/NE/khayour face

    But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face;

    לְמַעַןle/MA/anthatלֹאlonotתֵרָאֶהte/ra/Eyou appearלָאֲנָשִׁיםla/a/na/SHIMunto menצָםtsamto fastכִּי־אִםki-imbutלְאָבִיךָle/A/VI/khaunto your Fatherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבַּסָּתֶרbas/SA/terin secretוְאָבִיךָve/A/VI/khaand your Fatherהָרֹאֶהha/ro/Ewhich seesבַּסֵּתֶרbas/SE/terin secretיִגְמָלְךָyig/ma/le/KHAshall reward youבַּגָּלוּי׃bag/ga/LUYopenly

    That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father, who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

    אַל־תַּאַצְרוּal-ta/ats/RUlay not upלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesאוֹצָרוֹתo/tsa/ROTtreasuresבָּאָרֶץba/A/retson earthאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereעָשׁashmothוְרָקָבve/ra/KAVand rustיַשְׁחִיתוּyash/CHI/tucorruptsוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whereגַּנָּבִיםgan/na/VIMthievesיַחְתְּרוּyach/te/RUbreak throughוְיִגְנֹבוּ׃ve/yig/no/VUand steal

    Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and thieves break through and steal;

20. 20

    אַךְakhbutאִצְרוּits/RUlay upלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesאוֹצָרוֹתo/tsa/ROTtreasuresבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin heavenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereלֹא־עָשׁlo-ashneither mothוְלֹאve/LOand notרָקָבra/KAVrustיַשְׁחִיתוּyash/CHI/tucorruptsוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whereגַּנָּבִיםgan/na/VIMthievesלֹאlonotיַחְתְּרוּyach/te/RUbreak throughוְלֹאve/LOand notיִגְנֹבוּ׃yig/no/VUsteal

    But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.

21. 21

    כִּיkiforבַּאֲשֶׁרba/a/SHERwhereאוֹצַרְכֶםo/tsar/KHEMyour treasureשָׁםshamthereיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beגַּם־לְבַבְכֶם׃gam-le/vav/KHEMyour heart also

    For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

22. 22

    נֵרnerthe lightהַגְּוִיָּהhag/ge/viy/YAof the bodyהָעָיִןha/A/yinis the eyeלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאִם־עֵינְךָim-e/ne/KHAif your eyeתְמִימָהte/mi/MAbe singleכׇּל־גְּוִיָּתְךָkol-ge/viy/ya/te/KHAyour whole bodyתִּהְיֶהtih/YEit shall beמְלֵאָהme/le/Afullאוֹר׃orof light

    The light of the body is the eye; if, therefore, thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

23. 23

    וְאִם־עֵינְךָve/IM-e/ne/KHAbut if your eyeרָעָהra/Abe evilכׇּל־גְּוִיָּתְךָkol-ge/viy/ya/te/KHAyour whole bodyתִּהְיֶהtih/YEit shall beמְלֵאָהme/le/AfullחֹשֶׁךְCHO/shekhof darknessלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאִם־הָאוֹרim-ha/ORif the lightאֲשֶׁר־בְּךָa/SHER-be/KHAwhich is in youחֹשֶׁךְCHO/shekhdarknessהוּאhuisמַה־רַבma-ravhow greatהַחֹשֶׁךְ׃ha/CHO/shekhthe darkness

    But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If, therefore, the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

    לֹא־יוּכַלlo-yu/KHALcannotאִישׁisha manלַעֲבֹדla/a/VODserveשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoאֲדֹנִיםa/do/NIMmastersכִּיkiforאִם־יִשְׂנָאim-yis/NAeither he will hateאֶת־הָאֶחָדet-ha/e/CHADthe oneוְיֶאֱהַבve/ye/e/HAVand loveאֶת־הָאַחֵרet-ha/a/CHERthe otherאוֹoor elseיַחֲזִיקya/cha/ZIKhe will hold toבָּאֶחָדba/e/CHADthe oneוְיִבְזֶהve/yiv/ZEand despiseאֶת־הָאַחֵרet-ha/a/CHERthe otherלֹאlonotתוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou canלַעֲבֹדla/a/VODserveאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםet-ha/e/lo/HIMGodוְאֶת־הַמָּמוֹן׃ve/ET-ham/ma/MONand Mammon

    No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon.

    And now it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words he looked upon the twelve whom he had chosen, and said unto them: Remember the words which I have spoken. For behold, ye are they whom I have chosen to minister unto this people. Therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

    Behold the fowls of the air, for they sow not, neither do they reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

    מִיmiwhoמִכֶּםmik/KEMfrom youיוּכַלyu/KHALcanלְהוֹסִיףle/ho/SIFto addעַל־קוֹמָתוֹal-ko/ma/TOupon his statureאַמָּהam/MAa cubitאַחַתa/CHAToneבְּדַאֲגָתוֹ׃be/da/a/ga/TOby his taking thought

    Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28. 28

    וְלָמָּהve/LAM/maand whyתִדְאֲגוּtid/a/GUtake thoughtלַלְּבוּשׁlal/le/VUSHfor raimentהִתְבּוֹנְנוּhit/bon/NUconsiderאֶל־שׁוֹשַׁנֵּיel-sho/shan/NEthe liliesהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEof the fieldאֵיךְekhhowיִצְמָחוּyits/MA/chuthey growלֹאlonotיַעַמְלוּya/am/LUthey toilוְלֹאve/LOand notיִטְווּ׃yit/VUdo they spin

    And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin;

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatגַם־שְׁלֹמֹהgam-She/lo/MOalso Solomonבְּכׇל־הֲדָרוֹbe/KHOL-ha/da/ROin all his gloryלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAwas notלָבוּשׁla/VUSHarrayedכְּאַחַתke/a/CHATas oneמֵהֵנָּה׃me/HEN/naof these

    And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon, in all his glory, was not arrayed like one of these.

    וְאִם־כָּכָהve/IM-KA/khawherefore if thusמַלְבִּישׁmal/BISHclotheאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־חֲצִירet-cha/TSIRthe grassהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEof the fieldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayצֹמֵחַtso/ME/achisוּמָחָרu/ma/CHARand tomorrowיֻשְׁלַךְyush/LAKHshall be castלַתַּנּוּרlat/tan/NURinto the ovenאַףafeven soהוּאhuheיַלְבִּישׁyal/BISHhe shall clotheאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאִם־לֹאim-loif notקְטַנֵּיke/tan/NEof littleאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithאַתֶּם׃at/TEMyou

    Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, even so will he clothe you, if ye are not of little faith.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאַל־תִּדְאֲגוּal-tid/a/GUtake no thoughtלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמַה־נֹּאכַלma-no/KHALwhat shall we eatאוֹoorמַה־נִּשְׁתֶּהma-nish/TEwhat shall we drinkאוֹoorמַה־נִּלְבָּשׁ׃ma-nil/BASHwherewithal shall we be clothed

    Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

    For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33. 33

    אַךְakhbutבַּקְּשׁוּbak/ke/SHUseekרִאשׁוֹנָהri/sho/NAfirstאֶת־מַלְכוּתet-mal/KHUTthe kingdomאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוְאֶת־צִדְקָתוֹve/ET-tsid/ka/TOand his righteousnessוְכׇל־אֵלֶּהve/KHOL-EL/leand all these thingsיִוָּסְפוּyiv/va/se/FUthey shall be addedלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

    But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

34. 34

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאַל־תִּדְאֲגוּal-tid/a/GUtake no thoughtלְמָחָרle/ma/CHARfor the morrowכִּיkiforמָחָרma/CHARtomorrowיִדְאַגyid/AGshall take thoughtלִדְבָרָיוlid/va/RAYVfor the things of itselfדַּיdaysufficientלַיּוֹםlay/YOMunto the dayרָעָתוֹ׃ra/a/TOthe evil thereof

    Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient is the day unto the evil thereof.
