   And it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words unto Nephi, and to those who had been called, (now the number of them who had been called, and received power and authority to baptize, was twelve) and behold, he stretched forth his hand unto the multitude, and cried unto them, saying: Blessed are ye if ye shall give heed unto the words of these twelve whom I have chosen from among you to minister unto you, and to be your servants; and unto them I have given power that they may baptize you with water; and after that ye are baptized with water, behold, I will baptize you with fire and with the Holy Ghost; therefore blessed are ye if ye shall believe in me and be baptized, after that ye have seen me and know that I am.

   And again, more blessed are they who shall believe in your words because that ye shall testify that ye have seen me, and that ye know that I am. Yea, blessed are they who shall believe in your words, and come down into the depths of humility and be baptized, for they shall be visited with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and shall receive a remission of their sins.

   הֵןhenyeaאַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areעֲנִיֵּיa/niy/YEthe poorהָרוּחַha/RU/achof the spiritהַבָּאִיםhab/ba/IMwho comeאֵלַיe/LAYunto meכִּיkiforלָהֶםla/HEMunto themמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdomהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimof the heavens

   Yea, blessed are the poor in spirit who come unto me, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4. 4

   וְעוֹדve/ODand againאַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areכׇּל־הָאֲבֵלִיםkol-ha/a/ve/LIMall that mournכִּיkiforהֵםhemtheyיְנֻחָמוּ׃ye/nu/cha/MUshall be comforted

   And again, blessed are all they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.

5. 5

   וְאַשְׁרֵיve/ash/REand blessed areהָעֲנָוִיםha/a/na/VIMthe meekכִּיkiforהֵםhemtheyיִירְשׁוּYI/re/shushall inheritאֶת־הָאָרֶץ׃et-ha/A/retsthe earth

   And blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

6. 6

   וְאַשְׁרֵיve/ash/REand blessed areכׇּל־הָרְעֵבִיםkol-ha/re/e/VIMall who hungerוְהַצְּמֵאִיםve/hats/tse/me/IMand thirstלַצְּדָקָהlats/tse/da/KAafter righteousnessכִּיkiforהֵםhemtheyיִמָּלְאוּyim/ma/le/Ushall be filledמֵרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃me/RU/ach-hak/KO/deshwith the Holy Ghost

   And blessed are all they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost.

   וְאַשְׁרֵיve/ash/REand blessed areהָרַחֲמָנִיםha/ra/cha/ma/NIMthe mercifulכִּיkiforיְרֻחָמוּ׃ye/ru/cha/MUthey shall obtain mercy

   And blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

8. 8

   וְאַשְׁרֵיve/ash/REand blessed areכׇּל־בָּרֵיkol-ba/REall the pureהַלֵּבָבhal/le/VAVof the heartכִּיkiforהֵםhemtheyיִרְאוּyir/Ushall seeאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

   And blessed are all the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

9. 9

   וְאַשְׁרֵיve/ash/REand blessed areכׇּל־עֹשֵׂיkol-O/seall the makersהַשָּׁלוֹםhash/sha/LOMof peaceכִּיkiforבְּנֵיbe/NEthe childrenאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godיִקָּרֵאוּ׃yik/ka/re/Ushall be called

   And blessed are all the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.

10. 10

    וְאַשְׁרֵיve/ash/REand blessed areכׇּל־הַנִּרְדָּפִיםkol-han/nir/da/FIMall who are persecutedלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sakeשְׁמִיshe/MIof my nameכִּיkiforלָהֶםla/HEMunto themמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdomהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimof the heavens

    And blessed are all they who are persecuted for my name’s sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

    וְאַשְׁרֵיכֶםve/ash/re/KHEMand blessed are youכִּיkiwhenיְחָרְפוּye/cha/re/FUthey shall revileאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבְּנֵי־הָאָדָםbe/NE-ha/a/DAMthe children of menוְיִרְדְּפוּve/yir/de/FUand they shall persecuteוְיֹאמְרוּve/yo/me/RUand they shall sayכׇּל־רָעָהkol-ra/Aall manner of evilעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMagainst youבַּשֶּׁקֶרbash/SHE/kerfalselyלְמַעֲנִי׃le/ma/a/NIfor my sake

    And blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake;

12. 12

    כִּיkiforתִשְׂמְחוּtis/me/CHUyou shall rejoiceשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAjoyגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוְתָגִילוּve/ta/gi/LUand be gladמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyכִּיkiforשְׂכַרְכֶםse/khar/KHEMyour rewardרַבravgreatבַּשָּׁמָיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin the heavensכִּי־כֵןki-khenfor thusרָדְפוּra/de/FUpersecutedאֶת־הַנְּבִיאִיםet-han/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהָיוּha/YUthey wereלִפְנֵיכֶם׃lif/ne/KHEMbefore you

    For ye shall have great joy and be exceedingly glad, for great shall be your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets who were before you.

    אָמֵןa/MENverilyאָמֵןa/MENverilyאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI giveלָכֶםla/KHEMyouלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beמֶלַחME/lachthe saltהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the earthוְאִםve/IMand ifיָפוּגya/FUGshall loseטַעַםTA/amthe savorהַמֶּלַחham/ME/lachof the saltבַּמֶּהbam/MEwherewithתִּמָּלַחtim/ma/LACHshall be saltedהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beהַמֶּלַחham/ME/lachthe saltמֵאָזme/AZthenceforthלִבְלִיliv/LInotהוֹעִילho/ILprofitableכִּי־אִםki-imbutלְהַשְׁלִיכוֹle/hash/li/KHOto be castהַחוּצָהha/CHU/tsaoutוּלְמִרְמַסu/le/mir/MASand to be trodden underרַגְלֵיrag/LEthe feetבְּנֵיbe/NEof the childrenהָאָדָם׃ha/a/DAMof men

    Verily, verily, I say unto you, I give unto you to be the salt of the earth; but if the salt shall lose its savor wherewith shall the earth be salted? The salt shall be thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot of men.

    אָמֵןa/MENverilyאָמֵןa/MENverilyאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI giveלָכֶםla/KHEMyouלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beאוֹרorthe lightהָעָם־הַזֶּהha/AM-haz/ZEof this peopleעִירira cityהַיּוֹשֶׁבֶתhay/yo/SHE/vetthat is setעַל־הָהָרal-ha/HARon a hillלֹא־תוּכַלlo-tu/KHALcannotלְהִסָּתֵר׃le/his/sa/TERbe hid

    Verily, verily, I say unto you, I give unto you to be the light of this people. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

15. 15

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהֲיַדְלִיקוּha/yad/li/KUlightבְּנֵי־הָאָדָםbe/NE-ha/a/DAMthe children of menנֵרnera candleוְיָשִׂימוּve/ya/SI/muand setאֹתוֹo/TOitתַּחַתTA/chatunderהָאֵיפָהha/e/FAa bushelלֹאlonayכִּיkibutעַל־הַמְּנוֹרָהal-ham/me/no/RAon a candlestickוְיָאִירve/ya/IRand it gives lightלְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרle/KHOL-a/SHERto all that areבַּבָּיִת׃bab/BA/yitin the house

    Behold, do men light a candle and put it under a bushel? Nay, but on a candlestick, and it giveth light to all that are in the house;

16. 16

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeיָאֵרya/ERlet so shineאוֹרְכֶםor/KHEMyour lightלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָעָם־הַזֶּהha/AM-haz/ZEthis peopleלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִרְאוּyir/Uthey shall seeמַעֲשֵׂיכֶםma/a/se/KHEMyour worksהַטּוֹבִיםhat/to/VIMthe goodוִיכַבְּדוּvi/khab/be/DUand glorifyאֶת־אֲבִיכֶםet-A/vi/KHEMyour Fatherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבַּשָּׁמָיִם׃bash/sha/MA/yimin heaven

    Therefore let your light so shine before this people, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

17. 17

    אַל־תַּחְשְׁבוּal-tach/she/VUthink notכִּיkithatבָאתִיVA/tiI cameלְהָפֵרle/ha/FERto destroyאֶת־הַתּוֹרָהet-hat/to/RAthe lawאוֹoorאֶת־הַנְּבִיאִיםet-han/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsלֹאlonotבָאתִיVA/tiI cameלְהָפֵרle/ha/FERto destroyכִּי־אִםki-imbutלְמַלֹּאת׃le/mal/LOTto fulfil

    Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets. I am not come to destroy but to fulfil;

18. 18

    כִּיkiforאָמֵןa/MENverilyאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youיוֹדyodjotאַחַתa/CHAToneאוֹonorקוֹץkotstittleאֶחָדe/CHADoneלֹא־עָבַרlo-a/VARhas not passed awayמִן־הַתּוֹרָהmin-hat/to/RAfrom the lawכִּיkibutהַכֹּלhak/KOLallנִמְלָאnim/LAhas been fulfilledבִי׃viin me

    For verily I say unto you, one jot nor one tittle hath not passed away from the law, but in me it hath all been fulfilled.

19. 19

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI gaveלָכֶםla/KHEMyouאֶת־הַתּוֹרָהet-hat/to/RAthe lawוּמִצְוֹתu/mits/VOTand the commandmentsאָבִיA/VIof my Fatherלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתַּאֲמִינוּta/a/MI/nuyou shall believeבִּיbiin meוּלְמַעַןu/le/MA/anand thatתָּשׁוּבוּta/SHU/vuyou shall repentמֵחַטֹּאתֵיכֶםme/chat/to/te/KHEMof your sinsוְתָבֹאוּve/ta/VO/uand comeאֵלַיe/LAYunto meבְּלֵב־נִשְׁבָּרbe/LEV-nish/BARwith a broken heartוְרוּחַve/RU/achand a spiritנִדְכָּהnid/KAcontriteהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַמִּצְוֹתham/mits/VOTthe commandmentsלִפְנֵיכֶםlif/ne/KHEMbefore youוְהַתּוֹרָהve/hat/to/RAand the lawנִמְלְאָה׃nim/le/Ais fulfilled

    And behold, I have given you the law and the commandments of my Father, that ye shall believe in me, and that ye shall repent of your sins, and come unto me with a broken heart and a contrite spirit. Behold, ye have the commandments before you, and the law is fulfilled.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeבֹּאוּBO/ucomeאֵלַיe/LAYunto meוְהִוָּשְׁעוּve/hiv/va/she/Uand be you savedכִּיkiforאָמֵןa/MENverilyאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatאִם־לֹאim-loexceptתִשְׁמְרוּtish/me/RUyou keepאֶת־מִצְוֹתַיet-mits/vo/TAYmy commandmentsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichצִוִּיתִיtsiv/VI/tiI commandedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisבּוֹאboin no caseלֹאlonotתָבֹאוּta/VO/uyou shall enterאֶל־מַלְכוּתel-mal/KHUTinto the kingdomהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimof the heavens

    Therefore come unto me and be ye saved; for verily I say unto you, that except ye shall keep my commandments, which I have commanded you at this time, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21. 21

    שְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou heardכִּיkithatנֶאֱמַרne/e/MARit has been saidלַקַּדְמוֹנִיםlak/kad/mo/NIMby them of old timeוְגַם־כָּתוּבve/GAM-ka/TUVand also it is writtenלִפְנֵיכֶםlif/ne/KHEMbefore youלֹאlonotתִּרְצָחtir/TSACHyou shall killוְכׇל־הָרֹצֵחַve/KHOL-ha/ro/TSE/achand whosoever shall killיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beחַיָּבchay/YAVin dangerלְמִשְׁפַּטle/mish/PATof the judgmentאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

    Ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, and it is also written before you, that thou shalt not kill, and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment of God;

22. 22

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatכׇל־הַכּוֹעֵסkhol-hak/ko/ESwhosoever is angryעַל־אָחִיוal-a/CHIVwith his brotherיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beחַיָּבchay/YAVin dangerלְמִשְׁפָּטוֹle/mish/pa/TOof his judgmentוְכׇל־הָאֹמֵרve/KHOL-ha/o/MERand whosoever shall sayלְאָחִיוle/a/CHIVto his brotherרֵקָאRe/KARacaיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beחַיָּבchay/YAVin dangerלַמּוֹעָצָהlam/mo/a/TSAof the councilוְכׇל־הָאֹמֵרve/KHOL-ha/o/MERand whosoever shall sayנָבָלna/VALYou foolיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beחַיָּבchay/YAVin dangerלְאֵשׁle/ESHof the fireשְׁאוֹל׃she/OLof hell

    But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother shall be in danger of his judgment. And whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council; and whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאִם־תָּבֹאוּim-ta/VO/uif you shall comeאֵלַיe/LAYunto meאוֹoorתַּחְפְּצוּtach/pe/TSUyou shall desireלָבוֹאla/VOto comeאֵלַיe/LAYunto meוְזָכַרְתָּve/za/khar/TAand rememberכִּיkithatלְאָחִיךָle/a/CHI/khato your brotherדָּבָרda/VARaughtעָלֶיךָ׃a/LE/khaagainst you

    Therefore, if ye shall come unto me, or shall desire to come unto me, and rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee—

24. 24

    לֵךְlekhgoבְּדַרְכְּךָbe/dar/ke/KHAyour wayאֶל־אָחִיךָel-a/CHI/khaunto your brotherוְהִתְרַצֵּהve/hit/rats/TSEand be reconciledרִאשׁוֹנָהri/sho/NAfirstעִם־אָחִיךָim-a/CHI/khawith your brotherוְאָזve/AZand thenבֹּאbocomeאֵלַיe/LAYunto meבְּלֵבbe/LEVwith a heartשָׁלֵםsha/LEMof full purposeוַאֲקַבֵּלva/a/kab/BELand I will receiveאֶתְכֶם׃et/KHEMyou

    Go thy way unto thy brother, and first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come unto me with full purpose of heart, and I will receive you.

25. 25

    הִתְרַצֵּהhit/rats/TSEagree youעִם־בַּעַלim-BA/alwith the masterדִּינְךָdi/ne/KHAof your causeמְהֵרָהme/he/RAquicklyבְּעוֹדְךָbe/od/KHAwhile you areעִמּוֹim/MOwith himבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayפֶּן־יִתְפָּשְׂךָpen-yit/pa/se/KHAlest he seize youוְהֻשְׁלַכְתָּve/hush/lakh/TAand you be castאֶל־בֵּיתel-betinto the houseהַכֶּלֶא׃hak/KE/leof prison

    Agree with thine adversary quickly while thou art in the way with him, lest at any time he shall get thee, and thou shalt be cast into prison.

26. 26

    אָמֵןa/MENverilyאָמֵןa/MENverilyאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלְךָle/KHAunto youלֹא־תֵצֵאlo-te/TSEyou shall not come outמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereעַדaduntilאֲשֶׁר־תְּשַׁלֵּםa/SHER-te/shal/LEMyou paidאֶת־הַסֶּנִיןet-has/se/NINthe senineהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe uttermostוּבְעוֹדְךָu/ve/od/KHAand while you areבַּכֶּלֶאbak/KE/lein prisonהֲתוּכַלha/tu/KHALcan youלְשַׁלֵּםle/shal/LEMto payאַףafevenסֶנִיןse/NINsenineאֶחָדe/CHADoneאָמֵןa/MENverilyאָמֵןa/MENverilyאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלֹא׃lonay

    Verily, verily, I say unto thee, thou shalt by no means come out thence until thou hast paid the uttermost senine. And while ye are in prison can ye pay even one senine? Verily, verily, I say unto you, Nay.

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdכָּתוּבka/TUVit is writtenלַקַּדְמוֹנִיםlak/kad/mo/NIMby them of old timeלֹאlonotתִּנְאָף׃tin/AFyou shall commit adultery

    Behold, it is written by them of old time, that thou shalt not commit adultery;

28. 28

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatכׇל־הַמַּבִּיטkhol-ham/mab/BITwhosoever looksאֶל־אִשָּׁהel-ish/SHAon a womanלַחְמֹדlach/MODto lust afterאוֹתָהּo/TAherכְּבָרke/VARalreadyנָאַףna/AFcommitted adulteryבְּלִבּוֹ׃be/lib/BOin his heart

    But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman, to lust after her, hath committed adultery already in his heart.

29. 29

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנוֹתֵןno/TENgiveאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youמִצְוָהmits/VAa commandmentלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInot toתֵּתtetsufferלְאַחַדle/a/CHADoneמֵאֵלֶּהme/EL/leof theseלָבוֹאla/VOto comeאֶל־לִבְּכֶם׃el-lib/be/KHEMinto your heart

    Behold, I give unto you a commandment, that ye suffer none of these things to enter into your heart;

30. 30

    כִּי־טוֹבki-tovfor it is betterלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלְהִנָּזֵרle/hin/na/ZERto deny yourselvesמֵאֵלֶּהme/EL/leof theseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּהֶםba/HEMin themתִּשְׂאוּtis/Uyou will take upאֶת־צְלַבְכֶםet-tse/lav/KHEMyour crossמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERthan thatתֻּשְׁלְכוּtush/le/KHUyou should be castלִשְׁאוֹל׃lish/OLinto hell

    For it is better that ye should deny yourselves of these things, wherein ye will take up your cross, than that ye should be cast into hell.

31. 31

    כָּתוּבka/TUVit has been writtenכִּיkithatכׇּל־הַמְשַׁלֵּחַkol-ham/shal/LE/achwhosoever shall put awayאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹet-ish/TOhis wifeיִתֶּן־לָהּyit/TEN-lalet him give herסֵפֶרSE/fera writingכְּרִיתֻת׃ke/ri/TUTof divorcement

    It hath been written, that whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement.

32. 32

    אָמֵןa/MENverilyאָמֵןa/MENverilyאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatכׇל־הַמְשַׁלֵּחַkhol-ham/shal/LE/achwhosoever shall put awayאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹet-ish/TOhis wifeמִבְּלִיmib/be/LIsaving forדְבַרde/VARthe causeזְנוּתze/NUTof fornicationעוֹשֶׂהo/SEcausesאוֹתָהּo/TAherנֹאֶפֶתno/E/fetto commit adulteryוְכׇל־הַנֹּשֵׂאve/KHOL-han/no/SEand whoso shall marryאֶת־הַגְּרוּשָׁהet-hag/ge/ru/SHAher who is divorcedנֹאֵף׃no/EFcommits adultery

    Verily, verily, I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery; and whoso shall marry her who is divorced committeth adultery.

33. 33

    וְעוֹדve/ODand againנִכְתַּבnikh/TAVit is writtenלֹאlonotתִשָּׁבַעtish/sha/VAyou shall swearלַשֶּׁקֶרlash/SHE/kerfalselyוְהָקֵםve/ha/KEMbut shall performלַיהוָהla-Adonaiunto Adonaiשְׁבוּעוֹתֶיךָ׃she/vu/o/te/KHAyour oaths

    And again it is written, thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths;

34. 34

    אָמֵןa/MENverilyאָמֵןa/MENverilyאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאַל־תִּשָּׁבְעוּal-tish/sha/ve/Uswear notכׇּל־שְׁבוּעָהkol-she/vu/Aany oathלֹאloneitherבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimby heavenכִּיkiforכִסֵּאkhis/SEthe throneאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godהֵמָּה׃HEM/mait is

    But verily, verily, I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne;

35. 35

    וְלֹאve/LOnorבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsby the earthכִּיkiforהֲדֹםha/DOMthe footstoolרַגְלָיוrag/LAYVof his feetהִיא׃hiit is

    Nor by the earth, for it is his footstool;

36. 36

    וְאַל־תִּשָּׁבַעve/AL-tish/sha/VAneither shall you swearבְּרֹאשְׁךָbe/ro/she/KHAby your headכִּיkibecauseלֹא־תוּכַלlo-tu/KHALyou can notלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto makeשַׂעֲרָהsa/a/RAhairאַחַתa/CHAToneשְׁחֹרָהshe/cho/RAblackאוֹoorלְבָנָה׃le/va/NAwhite

    Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair black or white;

37. 37

    אַךְakhbutיְהִיye/HIlet beדְבַרְכֶםde/var/KHEMyour communicationהֵןhenyeaהֵןhenyeaלֹאlonayלֹאlonayכִּיkiforהַיֹּתֵרhay/yo/TERwhatsoever is moreמֵאֵלֶּהme/EL/leof theseמֵהָרָעme/ha/RAof evilהוּא׃huis

    But let your communication be Yea, yea; Nay, nay; for whatsoever cometh of more than these is evil.

38. 38

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdכָּתוּבka/TUVit is writtenעַיִןA/yinan eyeתַּחַתTA/chatforעַיִןA/yinan eyeוְשֵׁןve/SHENand a toothתַּחַתTA/chatforשֵׁן׃shena tooth

    And behold, it is written, an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth;

39. 39

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאַל־תִּתְקוֹמְמוּal-tit/kom/MUyou shall not resistלָרָעla/RAevilוְכׇל־הַמַּכֶּהve/KHOL-ham/mak/KEbut whosoever shall smiteאוֹתְךָot/KHAyouעַל־הַלְּחִיal-hal/le/CHIon the cheekהַיְמָנִיתhay/ma/NITthe rightהַטֵּה־לוֹhat/TE-loturn to himגַּם־הָאַחֶרֶת׃gam-ha/a/CHE/retthe other also

    But I say unto you, that ye shall not resist evil, but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also;

40. 40

    וְאִם־יַחְפֹּץve/IM-yach/POTSand if desiresאִישׁishany manלָרִיבla/RIVto sueעִמְּךָim/me/KHAwith youוְלָקַחַתve/la/KA/chatand take awayאֶת־כֻּתׇּנְתְּךָet-kut/ton/te/KHAyour coatתֵּן־לוֹten-lolet him haveגַּם־אֶת־הַמְּעִיל׃gam-et-ham/me/ILthe cloak also

    And if any man will sue thee at the law and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also;

41. 41

    וְכׇל־הַמְאַלֵּץve/KHOL-ham/al/LETSand whosoever shall compelאֹתְךָot/KHAyouלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goמִילmila mileאֶחָדe/CHADoneלֵךְlekhgoעִמּוֹim/MOwith himשְׁנָיִם׃she/NA/yimtwain

    And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42. 42

    תֵּןtengiveלַמְבַקֵּשׁlam/vak/KESHto him that asksמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAof youוְהַחָפֵץve/ha/cha/FETSand him that wouldלִלְווֹתlil/VOTborrowמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAfrom youאַל־תָּשֵׁבal-ta/SHEVturn not awayפָּנָיו׃pa/NAYVhis face

    Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn thou not away.

43. 43

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdכָּתוּבka/TUVit is writtenגַּםgamalsoוְאָהַבְתָּve/a/hav/TAyou shall loveלְרֵעֲךָle/re/a/KHAyour neighborוְשָׂנֵאתָve/sa/NE/taand you shall hateאֶת־אֹיִבְךָ׃et-o/yiv/KHAyour enemy

    And behold it is written also, that thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy;

44. 44

    אַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֶהֱבוּe/he/VUloveאֶת־אֹיְבֵיכֶםet-oy/ve/KHEMyour enemiesבָּרְכוּba/re/KHUblessאֶת־מְקַלְלֵיכֶםet-me/kal/le/KHEMthem that curse youהֵיטִיבוּhe/TI/vudo goodלְשֹׂנְאֵיכֶםle/son/e/KHEMto them that hate youוְהִתְפַּלְלוּve/hit/pal/LUand prayבְּעַדbe/ADforהַמַּלְעִיבִיםham/mal/i/VIMthem who despitefully useבָּכֶםba/KHEMyouוְהָרֹדְפִיםve/ha/rod/FIMand persecuteאֶתְכֶם׃et/KHEMyou

    But behold I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you and persecute you;

45. 45

    לְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתִּהְיוּtih/YUyou shall beבְּנֵיbe/NEthe childrenאֲבִיכֶםA/vi/KHEMof your Fatherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבַּשָּׁמָיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin the heavensכִּי־הוּאki-hufor heמַזְרִיחַmaz/RI/achmakes riseשִׁמְשׁוֹshim/SHOhis sunעַל־רָעִיםal-ra/IMon the evilוְעַל־טוֹבִים׃ve/AL-to/VIMand on the good

    That ye may be the children of your Father who is in heaven; for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good.

46. 46

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthose thingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהָיוּha/YUwereמִקֶּדֶםmik/KE/demof old timeתַּחַתTA/chatunderהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawנִמְלְאוּnim/le/Uhave been fulfilledכֻלָּםkhul/LAMallבִּי׃biin me

    Therefore those things which were of old time, which were under the law, in me are all fulfilled.

47. 47

    הָרִאשֹׁנוֹתha/ri/sho/NOTthe old thingsעָבְרוּa/ve/RUare done awayוְכׇל־הַדְּבָרִיםve/KHOL-had/de/va/RIMand all the thingsנִהְיוּnih/YUbecameחֲדָשִׁים׃cha/da/SHIMnew

    Old things are done away, and all things have become new.

48. 48

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeחָפַצְתִּיcha/FATS/tiI wouldכִּיkithatתִהְיוּtih/YUyou shall beתְמִימִיםte/mi/MIMperfectכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHEReven asאֲנִיa/NIIאוֹoorאֲבִיכֶםA/vi/KHEMyour Fatherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin heavenתָּמִיםta/MIMperfectהוּא׃huis

    Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect.
