   Now it came to pass that there were many of the rising generation that could not understand the words of king Benjamin, being little children at the time he spake unto his people; and they did not believe the tradition of their fathers.

   וְלֹאve/LOand notהֶאֱמִינוּhe/e/MI/nuthey believedבַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERwhatנֶאֱמַרne/e/MARhad been saidעַל־תְּחִיַּתal-te/chiy/YATconcerning the resurrectionהַמֵּתִיםham/me/TIMof the deadוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלֹא־הֶאֱמִינוּlo-he/e/MI/nuthey did not believeבְּבוֹאbe/VOconcerning the comingהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achof Christ

   They did not believe what had been said concerning the resurrection of the dead, neither did they believe concerning the coming of Christ.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofמַעֲלָםma/a/LAMtheir unbeliefלֹא־יָכְלוּlo-ya/khe/LUthey could notלְהָבִיןle/ha/VINunderstandאֶת־דְּבַר־אֱלֹהִיםet-de/VAR-e/lo/HIMthe word of Godוַיִּקְשׁוּvay/yik/SHUand were hardenedלִבָּם׃lib/BAMtheir hearts

   And now because of their unbelief they could not understand the word of God; and their hearts were hardened.

   וְלֹאve/LOand notאָבוּa/VUthey were willingלְהִטָּבֵלle/hit/ta/VELto be baptizedוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלֹאlonotלְהִסְתַּפֵּחַle/his/tap/PE/achto joinאֶל־הָעֵדָהel-ha/e/DAthe churchוַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand they wereלְעַםle/AMa peopleנִפְרָדnif/RADseparateבֶּאֱמוּנָתָםbe/e/mu/na/TAMas to their faithוַיִּשָּׁאֲרוּvay/yish/sha/a/RUand remainedכֵּןkensoלָעַדla/ADever afterבִּבְשָׂרָםbiv/sa/RAMin their carnal stateוּבְחַטָּאתָםu/ve/chat/ta/TAMand in their sinsכִּיkiforמֵאֲנוּme/a/NUthey refusedלִקְרֹאlik/ROto callבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the nameיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiאֱלֹהֵיהֶם׃e/lo/he/HEMtheir God

   And they would not be baptized; neither would they join the church. And they were a separate people as to their faith, and remained so ever after, even in their carnal and sinful state; for they would not call upon the Lord their God.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowבִּימֵיbi/MEin the daysמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTof the reignמוֹשִׁיָּהMo/SHIY/yaof Mosiahלֹא־הָיוּlo-ha/YUthey were notמַחֲצִיתma/cha/TSIThalfמִמִּסְפַּרmim/mis/PARthan the numberעַםamof the peopleהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godאַךְakhbutבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofהַמַּחֲלֹקֶתham/ma/cha/LO/ketthe dissensionsבֵּיןbenamongהָאַחִיםha/a/CHIMthe brethrenרָבוּ׃ra/VUthey increased

   And now in the reign of Mosiah they were not half so numerous as the people of God; but because of the dissensions among the brethren they became more numerous.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהִתְעוּhit/Uthey deceivedרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyבְּחֶלְקַתbe/chel/KATwith the flatteryלְשׁוֹנָםle/sho/NAMof their tonguesמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERof those who wereבָּעֵדָהba/e/DAin the churchוַיַּעֲשׂוּםvay/ya/a/SUMand caused themלַחֲטֹאla/cha/TOto commitחֲטָאִיםcha/ta/IMsinsרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeהָיָהha/YAwasנָכוֹןna/KHONexpedientלְהוֹכִיחַle/ho/KHI/achto reproveאֶת־הַחוֹטְאִיםet-ha/chot/IMthe sinnersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבָּעֵדָהba/e/DAin the churchעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEby the handהָעֵדָה׃ha/e/DAof the church

   For it came to pass that they did deceive many with their flattering words, who were in the church, and did cause them to commit many sins; therefore it became expedient that those who committed sin, that were in the church, should be admonished by the church.

   וַיּוּבְאוּvay/yuv/Uand they were broughtלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוַיִּמָּסְרוּvay/yim/ma/se/RUand were deliveredלַכֹּהֲנִיםlak/ko/ha/NIMunto the priestsבְּיַדbe/YADby the handהַמּוֹרִיםham/mo/RIMof the teachersוַיְבִיאוּםvay/vi/UMand brought themהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָיָהha/YAwasהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַגָּדוֹל׃hag/ga/DOLhigh

   And it came to pass that they were brought before the priests, and delivered up unto the priests by the teachers; and the priests brought them before Alma, who was the high priest.

   וְהַמֶּלֶךְve/ham/ME/lekhand the kingמוֹשִׁיָּהMo/SHIY/yaMosiahנָתַןna/TANgaveלְאַלְמָאle/AL/maunto Almaאֶת־הַשִּׁלְטוֹןet-hash/shil/TONthe authorityעַל־הָעֵדָה׃al-ha/e/DAover the church

   Now king Mosiah had given Alma the authority over the church.

9. 9

   וְאַלְמָאve/AL/mathat Almaלֹאlonotיָדַעya/DAknewעַל־אוֹדוֹתָםal-o/do/TAMconcerning themאַךְakhbutהָיוּha/YUthere wereעֵדִיםe/DIMwitnessesרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyנֶגְדָּםneg/DAMagainst themוַיַּעַמְדוּvay/ya/am/DUand stoodהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיָּעִידוּvay/ya/I/duand testifiedעַל־עֲוֹנָםal-a/vo/NAMof their iniquityלָרֹב׃la/ROVin abundance

   And it came to pass that Alma did not know concerning them; but there were many witnesses against them; yea, the people stood and testified of their iniquity in abundance.

    וְלֹא־הָיְתָהve/LO-ha/ye/TAand there had not beenכָּזֹאתka/ZOTsuch a thingלְפָנִיםle/fa/NIMbeforeבָּעֵדָהba/e/DAin the churchעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeנִפְעֲמָהnif/a/MAwas troubledרוּחַRU/achthe spiritאַלְמָאAL/maof Almaוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand he causedלַהֲבִיאָםla/ha/vi/AMto bring themלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

    Now there had not any such thing happened before in the church; therefore Alma was troubled in his spirit, and he caused that they should be brought before the king.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhunto the kingהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֵלֶּהEL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהֵבֵאנוּhe/ve/NUwe broughtלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youוַיַּאֲשִׁימוּםvay/ya/a/shi/MUMare accusedאֲחֵיהֶםa/che/HEMby their brethrenוְנִתְפְּשׂוּve/nit/pe/SUyea and have been caughtבַּעֲוֹנוֹתba/a/vo/NOTin iniquitiesשׁוֹנִיםsho/NIMof various sortsוְלֹא־שָׁבוּve/LO-SHA/vuand have not repentedמֵעֲוֹנוֹתֵיהֶםme/a/vo/no/te/HEMof their iniquitiesעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeהֲבִיאוֹנוּםha/vi/o/NUMwe brought themלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתִּשְׁפְּטֵםtish/pe/TEMyou may judge themכְּפִשְׁעֵיהֶם׃ke/fish/e/HEMaccording to their crimes

    And he said unto the king: Behold, here are many whom we have brought before thee, who are accused of their brethren; yea, and they have been taken in divers iniquities. And they do not repent of their iniquities; therefore we have brought them before thee, that thou mayest judge them according to their crimes.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingמוֹשִׁיָּהMo/SHIY/yaMosiahאֶל־אַלְמָאel-AL/maunto Almaהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלֹאlonotאֶשְׁפְּטֵםesh/pe/TEMI judge themוְאֶתְּנֵםve/et/te/NEMand I deliver themבְּיָדֶךָbe/ya/DE/khainto your handsלְהִשָּׁפֵט׃le/hish/sha/FETto be judged

    But king Mosiah said unto Alma: Behold, I judge them not; therefore I deliver them into thy hands to be judged.

13. 13

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowנִפְעֲמָהnif/a/MAwas troubledרוּחַRU/achthe spiritאַלְמָאAL/maof Almaשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentוַיִּדְרֹשׁvay/yid/ROSHand inquiredמֵיְהוָהme-Adonaiof Adonaiמַה־יַּעֲשֶׂהma-ya/a/SEwhat he should doבַּדָּבָרbad/da/VARconcerning the matterהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּיkiforיָרֵאya/REhe fearedפֶּן־יַעֲשֶׂהpen-ya/a/SElest he should doהָרַעha/RAwhat is evilבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the sightאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

    And now the spirit of Alma was again troubled; and he went and inquired of the Lord what he should do concerning this matter, for he feared that he should do wrong in the sight of God.

14. 14

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REthat afterשְׁפָכוֹshe/fa/KHOhe poured outאֶת־כׇּל־נַפְשׁוֹet-kol-naf/SHOhis whole soulלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto Godוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameקוֹל־יְהוָהkol-Adonaithe voice of Adonaiאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And it came to pass that after he had poured out his whole soul to God, the voice of the Lord came to him, saying:

15. 15

    בָּרוּךְba/RUKHblessedאַתָּהat/TAare youאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaוּבְרוּכִיםu/ve/ru/KHIMand blessed areהַנִּטְבָּלִיםhan/nit/ba/LIMthose who were baptizedבְּמֵיbe/MEin the watersמוֹרְמוֹןMOR/monof Mormonבָּרוּךְba/RUKHblessedאַתָּהat/TAare youבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofאֱמוּנָתְךָe/mu/na/te/KHAyour faithהָרַבָּהha/rab/BAexceedingבִּדְבָרִיםbid/va/RIMin the wordsלְבַדָּםle/vad/DAMaloneמֵאֵתme/ETofעַבְדִּיav/DIMy servantאֲבִינָדִי׃A/VI/na/diAbinadi

    Blessed art thou, Alma, and blessed are they who were baptized in the waters of Mormon. Thou art blessed because of thy exceeding faith in the words alone of my servant Abinadi.

16. 16

    וּבְרוּכִיםu/ve/ru/KHIMand blessed areהֵםhemtheyבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofאֱמוּנָתָםe/mu/na/TAMtheir faithהָרַבָּהha/rab/BAexceedingבַּדְּבָרִיםbad/de/va/RIMin the wordsלְבַדָּםle/vad/DAMaloneאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבַּרְתָּdib/BAR/tayou spokeאֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMunto them

    And blessed are they because of their exceeding faith in the words alone which thou hast spoken unto them.

17. 17

    וּבָרוּךְu/va/RUKHand blessedאַתָּהat/TAare youכִּיkibecauseהֲקִימוֹתָha/ki/mo/TAyou establishedעֵדָהe/DAa churchבָּעָםba/AMamong the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוְהֵםve/HEMand theyיִכּוֹנוּyik/ko/NUshall be establishedוְהָיוּve/ha/YUand they shall beלִיliunto Meלְעָם׃le/AMfor a people

    And blessed art thou because thou hast established a church among this people; and they shall be established, and they shall be my people.

18. 18

    כֵּןkensoבָּרוּךְba/RUKHblessed isהָעָם־הַזֶּהha/AM-haz/ZEthis peopleהַמִּתְנַדְּבִיםham/mit/nad/de/VIMwho are willingלָשֵׂאתla/SETto bearאֶת־שְׁמִיet-she/MIMy nameכִּיkiforבִשְׁמִיvish/MIin My nameיִקָּרְאוּyik/ka/re/Ushall they be calledוְלִיve/LIand Mineהֵמָּה׃HEM/mathey are

    Yea, blessed is this people who are willing to bear my name; for in my name shall they be called; and they are mine.

19. 19

    וּבַעֲבוּרu/va/a/VURand becauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדָּרַשְׁתָּda/rash/TAyou inquiredמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/niof Meעַל־הַפּוֹשֵׁעַal-hap/po/SHE/aconcerning the transgressorבָּרוּךְba/RUKHblessedאַתָּה׃at/TAare you

    And because thou hast inquired of me concerning the transgressor, thou art blessed.

20. 20

    עַבְדִּיav/DIMy servantאַתָּהat/TAare youוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iכֹּרֵתko/RETcutבְּרִיתbe/RITa covenantאִתְּךָit/te/KHAwith youוְהָיוּve/ha/YUand they shall beלְךָle/KHAunto youחַיֵּי־עוֹלָםchay/YE-o/LAMeternal lifeוְעָבַדְתָּve/a/VAD/taand you shall serveאוֹתִיo/TIMeוְיָצָאתָve/ya/TSA/taand go forthבִּשְׁמִיbish/MIin My nameוְקִבַּצְתָּve/kib/bats/TAand gatherאֶת־צֹאנִי׃et-tso/NIMy sheep

    Thou art my servant; and I covenant with thee that thou shalt have eternal life; and thou shalt serve me and go forth in my name, and shalt gather together my sheep.

21. 21

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAandכׇּל־הַשֹּׁמֵעַkol-hash/sho/ME/awhosoever hearkensבְּקוֹלִיbe/ko/LIunto My voiceיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beמִצֹּאנִיmits/tso/NIof My sheepוְאֹתוֹve/o/TOand himתְּקַבְּלוּte/kab/be/LUyou shall receiveבָּעֵדָהba/e/DAinto the churchוְגַם־אֲנִיve/GAM-a/NIand I alsoאֲקַבְּלֶנּוּ׃a/kab/be/len/NUwill receive him

    And he that will hear my voice shall be my sheep; and him shall ye receive into the church, and him will I also receive.

22. 22

    כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdזֹאתzotthisעֲדָתִיa/da/TIMy churchוְכׇל־הַנִּטְבָּלve/KHOL-han/nit/BALand whosoever is baptizedיִטָּבֵלyit/ta/VELshall be baptizedלִתְשׁוּבָהlit/shu/VAunto repentanceוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand whosoeverתְּקַבְּלוּte/kab/be/LUyou receiveיַאֲמִיןya/a/MINshall believeבִּשְׁמִיbish/MIin My nameוְאוֹתוֹve/o/TOand himאֶסְלַחes/LACHwill I forgiveבִּנְדָבָה׃bin/da/VAfreely

    For behold, this is my church; whosoever is baptized shall be baptized unto repentance. And whomsoever ye receive shall believe in my name; and him will I freely forgive.

23. 23

    כִּיkiforאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIהַנֹּשֵׂאhan/no/SEtake upon Meאֶת־חַטֹּאתet-chat/TOTthe sinsהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMof the worldכִּיkiforאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIבְרָאתִיםve/ra/TIMcreated themוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand I amהַנֹּתֵןhan/no/TENthe one who givesלַמַּאֲמִיןlam/ma/a/MINunto him that believesעַד־הַקֵּץad-hak/KETSuntil the endמָקוֹםma/KOMa placeלִימִינִי׃li/mi/NIat My right hand

    For it is I that taketh upon me the sins of the world; for it is I that hath created them; and it is I that granteth unto him that believeth unto the end a place at my right hand.

24. 24

    כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבִּשְׁמִיbish/MIin My nameנִקְרָאִיםnik/ra/IMare they calledוְאִם־יֵדְעוּve/IM-yed/Uand if they knowאוֹתִיo/TIMeיֵצְאוּyets/Uthey shall come forthוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand shall haveלָהֶםla/HEMunto themמָקוֹםma/KOMa placeלִימִינִיli/mi/NIat My right handלְעוֹלָם׃le/o/LAMforever

    For behold, in my name are they called; and if they know me they shall come forth, and shall have a place eternally at my right hand.

25. 25

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAandבִּתְקֹעַbit/KO/awhen soundsהַשּׁוֹפָרhash/sho/FARthe trumpהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIthe secondאָזazthenיֵצְאוּyets/Ushall come forthאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthose whoלֹא־יָדְעוּlo-ya/de/Unever knewאוֹתִיo/TIMeמֵעוֹלָםme/o/LAMat any timeוְעָמְדוּve/a/me/DUand shall standלְפָנָי׃le/fa/NAYbefore Me

    And it shall come to pass that when the second trump shall sound then shall they that never knew me come forth and shall stand before me.

26. 26

    וְאָזve/AZand thenיֵדְעוּyed/Ushall they knowכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIthat I amיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMtheir Godכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIthat I amגֹּאֲלָםGo/a/LAMtheir Redeemerאַךְakhbutמֵאֲנוּme/a/NUthey refusedלְהִגָּאֵל׃le/hig/ga/ELto be redeemed

    And then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, that I am their Redeemer; but they would not be redeemed.

27. 27

    וְאָזve/AZand thenאוֹדֶהo/DEI will confessלָהֶםla/HEMunto themכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knewאוֹתָםo/TAMthemמֵעוֹלָםme/o/LAMeverוְהָלְכוּve/ha/le/KHUand they shall departאֶל־אֵשׁel-eshinto the fireעוֹלָםo/LAMeverlastingהַמּוּכָנָהham/mu/kha/NApreparedלַשָּׂטָןlas/sa/TANfor the devilוּמַלְאָכָיו׃u/mal/a/KHAYVand his angels

    And then I will confess unto them that I never knew them; and they shall depart into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

28. 28

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youכִּיkithatהַמְמָאֵןham/ma/ENhe who refusesלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato hearבְּקוֹלִיbe/ko/LIunto My voiceאוֹתוֹo/TOhimלֹאloyou shall notתְקַבְּלוּte/kab/be/LUreceiveבַּעֲדָתִיba/a/da/TIinto My churchכִּי־לֹאki-lofor notאֲקַבְּלֶנּוּa/kab/be/len/NUI will receive himבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMat the dayהָאַחֲרוֹן׃ha/a/cha/RONlast

    Therefore I say unto you, that he that will not hear my voice, the same shall ye not receive into my church, for him I will not receive at the last day.

29. 29

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youלְכוּle/KHUgoוְכׇל־הַפּוֹשֵׁעַve/KHOL-hap/po/SHE/aand whosoever transgressesבִּיbiagainst Meאוֹתוֹo/TOhimתִּשְׁפְּטוּtish/pe/TUyou shall judgeכַּחֲטָאִיםka/cha/ta/IMaccording to the sinsאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהa/SHER-a/SAwhich he committedוְאִם־יִתְוַדֶּהve/IM-yit/vad/DEand if he confessesעַל־חֲטָאָיוal-cha/ta/AYVhis sinsלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youוּלְפָנַיu/le/fa/NAYand before Meוְשָׁבve/SHAVand repentsבֶּאֱמֶתbe/e/METin the truthלְבָבוֹle/va/VOof his heartלוֹlohimתִּסְלְחוּtis/le/CHUyou shall forgiveוְגַם־אֲנִיve/GAM-a/NIand I alsoאֶסְלַחes/LACHwill forgiveלוֹ׃lohim

    Therefore I say unto you, Go; and whosoever transgresseth against me, him shall ye judge according to the sins which he has committed; and if he confess his sins before thee and me, and repenteth in the sincerity of his heart, him shall ye forgive, and I will forgive him also.

30. 30

    וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERyea as often asיָשׁוּבוּya/SHU/vurepentעַמִּיam/MIMy peopleאֶסְלַחes/LACHwill I forgiveלָהֶםla/HEMthemעַל־פִּשְׁעֵיהֶםal-pish/e/HEMof their trespassesבִּי׃biagainst Me

    Yea, and as often as my people repent will I forgive them their trespasses against me.

31. 31

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoתִּסְלְחוּtis/le/CHUyou shall forgiveאִישׁishoneלְאָחִיוle/a/CHIVanotherאֶת־פִּשְׁעֵיכֶםet-pish/e/KHEMyour trespassesכִּיkiforאָמֵןa/MENverilyאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youמִיmiheאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־יִסְלַחlo-yis/LACHforgives notלְפֶשַׁעle/FE/shathe trespassרֵעֵהוּre/E/huof his neighborבְּאׇמְרוֹbe/om/ROwhen he saysכִּי־שָׁבki-shavthat he repentsהֵבִיאhe/VIthe same broughtעַל־נַפְשׁוֹal-naf/SHOupon his own soulאַשְׁמָה׃ash/MAcondemnation

    And ye shall also forgive one another your trespasses; for verily I say unto you, he that forgiveth not his neighbor’s trespasses when he says that he repents, the same hath brought himself under condemnation.

32. 32

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youלְכוּle/KHUgoוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand whosoeverלֹא־יָשׁוּבlo-ya/SHUVwill not repentמֵחַטֹּאתָיוme/chat/to/TAYVof his sinsלֹאloshall notיִתְיַחֵשׂyit/ya/CHESbe numberedבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongעַמִּיam/MIMy peopleוְכֵןve/KHENand soיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall it beמֵעַתָּהme/at/TAfrom this timeוָהָלְאָה׃va/HAL/aforward

    Now I say unto you, Go; and whosoever will not repent of his sins the same shall not be numbered among my people; and this shall be observed from this time forward.

33. 33

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיִּכְתְּבֵםvay/yikh/te/VEMhe wrote themלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִהְיוּyih/YUthey might beלוֹlounto himוּלְמַעַןu/le/MA/anand thatיִשְׁפֹּטyish/POThe might judgeאֶת־עַםet-amthe peopleהָעֵדָהha/e/DAof the churchהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisעַל־פִּיal-piaccording toמִצְוֹתmits/VOTthe commandmentsאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

    And it came to pass when Alma had heard these words he wrote them down that he might have them, and that he might judge the people of that church according to the commandments of God.

34. 34

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaוַיִּשְׁפֹּטvay/yish/POTand judgedאֶת־הַנִּתְפָּשִׂיםet-han/nit/pa/SIMthose who had been takenבֶּעָוֹןbe/a/VONin iniquityעַל־פִּיal-piaccording toדְּבַר־יְהוָה׃de/VAR-Adonaithe word of Adonai

    And it came to pass that Alma went and judged those that had been taken in iniquity, according to the word of the Lord.

35. 35

    וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand whosoeverשָׁבוּSHA/vurepentedמֵחַטֹּאתָםme/chat/to/TAMof their sinsוַיִּתְוַדּוּvay/yit/vad/DUand confessedעֲלֵיהֶןa/le/HENconcerning themוַיִּתְיַחֲשׂוּvay/yit/ya/cha/SUwere numberedבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongעַם־הָעֵדָה׃am-ha/e/DAthe people of the church

    And whosoever repented of their sins and did confess them, them he did number among the people of the church;

36. 36

    וַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand those whoמֵאֲנוּme/a/NUrefusedלְהִתְוַדּוֹתle/hit/vad/DOTto confessעַל־חַטֹּאתָםal-chat/to/TAMtheir sinsוְלָשׁוּבve/la/SHUVand to repentמֵעֲוֹנָםme/a/vo/NAMof their iniquityלֹאlonotהִתְיַחְשׂוּhit/yach/SUthey were numberedבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongעַםamthe peopleהָעֵדָהha/e/DAof the churchוַיִּמָּחוּvay/yim/ma/CHUand were blotted outשְׁמוֹתָם׃she/mo/TAMtheir names

    And those that would not confess their sins and repent of their iniquity, the same were not numbered among the people of the church, and their names were blotted out.

37. 37

    וַיְכֹנֵןvay/kho/NENand regulatedאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאֶת־כׇּל־דִּבְרֵיet-kol-div/REall the affairsהָעֵדָהha/e/DAof the churchוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand they beganעוֹדodagainלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beבְּשָׁלוֹםbe/sha/LOMat peaceוּלְהַצְלִיחַu/le/hats/LI/achand to prosperמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyבְּדִבְרֵיbe/div/REin the affairsהָעֵדָהha/e/DAof the churchוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand they walkedבְּתֹםbe/TOMcircumspectlyלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוַיְקַבְּלוּvay/kab/be/LUand they receivedרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוַיַּטְבִּילוּvay/yat/bi/LUand they baptizedרַבִּים׃rab/BIMmany

    And it came to pass that Alma did regulate all the affairs of the church; and they began again to have peace and to prosper exceedingly in the affairs of the church, walking circumspectly before God, receiving many, and baptizing many.

38. 38

    וְכׇל־אֵלֶּהve/KHOL-EL/leand all these thingsעָשׂוּa/SUdidאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaוַחֲבֵרָיוva/cha/ve/RAYVand his fellowהָעֹבְדִיםha/ov/DIMlaborersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereעַל־הָעֵדָהal-ha/e/DAover the churchוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand they wentבְּכׇל־חֲרִיצוּתbe/KHOL-cha/ri/TSUTin all diligenceוַיְלַמְּדוּvay/lam/me/DUand they taughtאֶת־דְּבַר־אֱלֹהִיםet-de/VAR-e/lo/HIMthe word of Godבְּכֹלbe/KHOLin all thingsוַיִּסְבְּלוּvay/yis/be/LUand sufferedכׇּל־מִינֵיkol-mi/NEall mannerצָרוֹתtsa/ROTof afflictionsוַיִּרְדְּפוּםvay/yir/de/FUMbeing persecuted byכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERall whoלֹא־הָיוּlo-ha/YUwere notמֵעֲדַתme/a/DATof the churchהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMof God

    And now all these things did Alma and his fellow laborers do who were over the church, walking in all diligence, teaching the word of God in all things, suffering all manner of afflictions, being persecuted by all those who did not belong to the church of God.

39. 39

    וַיּוֹכִיחוּvay/yo/khi/CHUand they admonishedאֶת־אֲחֵיהֶםet-a/che/HEMtheir brethrenוְגַם־הֵםve/GAM-hemand also theyהוּכְחוּhukh/CHUwere admonishedכֻּלָּםkul/LAMall of themבִּדְבַרbid/VARby the wordהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godאִישׁisheachלְפִיle/FIaccording toחַטָּאתוֹchat/ta/TOhis sinאוֹoorלְפִיle/FIaccording toהַחַטָּאתha/chat/TATthe sinאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהa/SHER-a/SAwhich he didוַיְצֻוּוּvay/tsuv/VUand they were commandedמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMby Godלְהִתְפַּלֵּלle/hit/pal/LELto prayבְּלִיbe/LIwithoutהֶרֶףHE/refceasingוּלְהוֹדוֹתu/le/ho/DOTand to give thanksבְּכׇל־דָּבָר׃be/KHOL-da/VARin all things

    And they did admonish their brethren; and they were also admonished, every one by the word of God, according to his sins, or to the sins which he had committed, being commanded of God to pray without ceasing, and to give thanks in all things.
