   And now king Mosiah caused that all the people should be gathered together.

   Now there were not so many of the children of Nephi, or so many of those who were descendants of Nephi, as there were of the people of Zarahemla, who was a descendant of Mulek, and those who came with him into the wilderness.

   And there were not so many of the people of Nephi and of the people of Zarahemla as there were of the Lamanites; yea, they were not half so numerous.

   And now all the people of Nephi were assembled together, and also all the people of Zarahemla, and they were gathered together in two bodies.

   And it came to pass that Mosiah did read, and caused to be read, the records of Zeniff to his people; yea, he read the records of the people of Zeniff, from the time they left the land of Zarahemla until they returned again.

   And he also read the account of Alma and his brethren, and all their afflictions, from the time they left the land of Zarahemla until the time they returned again.

   And now, when Mosiah had made an end of reading the records, his people who tarried in the land were struck with wonder and amazement.

   כִּי־לֹאki-lofor notיָדְעוּya/de/Uthey knewמַה־לַּחְשֹׁבma-lach/SHOVwhat to thinkוּבִרְאוֹתָםu/vir/o/TAMand when they beheldאֶת־הַנִּצָּלִיםet-han/nits/tsa/LIMthose who had been deliveredמֵעַבְדוּתme/av/DUTout of bondageוַיִּמָּלְאוּvay/yim/ma/le/Uthey were filledשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAwith joyגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatעַד־מְאֹד׃ad-me/ODexceedingly

   For they knew not what to think; for when they beheld those that had been delivered out of bondage they were filled with exceedingly great joy.

   וְגַםve/GAMand againבְּזׇכְרָםbe/zokh/RAMwhen they thoughtאֶת־אֲחֵיהֶםet-a/che/HEMof their brethrenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנֶהֶרְגוּne/her/GUhad been slainבִּידֵיbi/DEby the handsהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesוַיִּמָּלְאוּvay/yim/ma/le/Uthey were filledיָגוֹןya/GONwith sorrowוַיּוֹרִידוּvay/yo/RI/duand shedדִּמְעוֹתdim/OTtearsיָגוֹןya/GONof sorrowרַבּוֹת׃rab/BOTmany

   And again, when they thought of their brethren who had been slain by the Lamanites they were filled with sorrow, and even shed many tears of sorrow.

    וְעוֹדve/ODand againבְּזׇכְרָםbe/zokh/RAMwhen they thoughtאֶת־חֶסֶדet-CHE/sedof the mercyהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godהַמָּהִירham/ma/HIRimmediateוּגְבוּרָתוֹu/ge/vu/ra/TOand His powerבְּהַצִּילוֹbe/hats/tsi/LOin deliveringאֶת־אַלְמָאet-AL/maAlmaוְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brethrenמִיַּדmiy/YADout of the handsהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesוּמֵעַבְדוּתu/me/av/DUTand from bondageוַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand they liftedקוֹלָםko/LAMtheir voicesוַיּוֹדוּvay/yo/DUand gave thanksלֵאלֹהִים׃le/lo/HIMto God

    And again, when they thought of the immediate goodness of God, and his power in delivering Alma and his brethren out of the hands of the Lamanites and of bondage, they did raise their voices and give thanks to God.

    וְעוֹדve/ODand againבְּחׇשְׁבָםbe/chosh/VAMwhen they thoughtעַל־הַלָּמָנִיםal-Hal/la/ma/NIMupon the Lamanitesאֲחֵיהֶםa/che/HEMtheir brethrenעַל־חַטֹּאתָםal-chat/to/TAMof their sinsוְטֻמְאָתָםve/tum/a/TAMand their pollutionוַיִּמָּלְאוּvay/yim/ma/le/Uthey were filledמַכְאוֹבmakh/OVwith painוְצַעַרve/TSA/arand anguishלְטוֹבַתle/to/VATfor the welfareנַפְשֹׁתָם׃naf/sho/TAMof their souls

    And again, when they thought upon the Lamanites, who were their brethren, of their sinful and polluted state, they were filled with pain and anguish for the welfare of their souls.

    And it came to pass that those who were the children of Amulon and his brethren, who had taken to wife the daughters of the Lamanites, were displeased with the conduct of their fathers, and they would no longer be called by the names of their fathers, therefore they took upon themselves the name of Nephi, that they might be called the children of Nephi and be numbered among those who were called Nephites.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכׇל־עַםkhol-amall the peopleזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaהִתְיַחְשׂוּhit/yach/SUwere numberedעִם־הַנֶּפִיִּיםim-Han/ne/fiy/YIMwith the Nephitesכִּי־לֹאki-lobecause notנִתְּנָהnit/te/NAwas givenהַמַּמְלָכָהham/mam/la/KHAthe kingdomכִּי־אִםki-imexceptלְצֶאֱצָאֵיle/tse/e/tsa/Eto the descendantsנֶפִי׃NE/fiof Nephi

    And now all the people of Zarahemla were numbered with the Nephites, and this because the kingdom had been conferred upon none but those who were descendants of Nephi.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenכִּלָּהkil/LAfinishedמוֹשִׁיָּהMo/SHIY/yaMosiahלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingוְלִקְרֹאve/lik/ROand readingלָעָםla/AMto the peopleוַיַּחְפֹּץvay/yach/POTShe was desirousכִּיkithatיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERshould speakגַּם־אַלְמָאgam-AL/maalso Almaאֶל־הָעָם׃el-ha/AMto the people

    And now it came to pass that when Mosiah had made an end of speaking and reading to the people, he desired that Alma should also speak to the people.

15. 15

    וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאֶל־הָעָםel-ha/AMunto the peopleבְּהִקָּהֲלָםbe/hik/ka/ha/LAMwhen they were assembledבַּהֲמוֹנִיםba/ha/mo/NIMin bodiesגְּדוֹלִיםge/do/LIMgreatוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentמֵהָמוֹןme/ha/MONfrom one bodyאֶל־הָמוֹןel-ha/MONto anotherוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he preachedלָעָםla/AMunto the peopleלִתְשׁוּבָהlit/shu/VArepentanceוֶאֱמוּנָהve/e/mu/NAand faithבַּיהוָה׃ba-Adonaiin Adonai

    And Alma did speak unto them, when they were assembled together in large bodies, and he went from one body to another, preaching unto the people repentance and faith on the Lord.

    וַיַּזְהֵרvay/yaz/HERand he exhortedאֶת־עַםet-amthe peopleלִמְהִיLIM/hiof Limhiוְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brethrenכׇּל־הַנִּצָּלִיםkol-han/nits/tsa/LIMall those who had been deliveredמֵעַבְדוּתme/av/DUTout of bondageלִזְכֹּרliz/KORto rememberכִּי־יְהוָהki-Adonaithat Adonaiהוּאhuisהַמַּצִּילham/mats/TSILthe one who deliveredאוֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    And he did exhort the people of Limhi and his brethren, all those that had been delivered out of bondage, that they should remember that it was the Lord that did deliver them.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterלַמֵּדlam/MEDtaughtאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleדְּבָרִיםde/va/RIMthingsרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוַיְכַלvay/KHALand finishedלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themוַיַּחְפֹּץvay/yach/POTSthat was desirousהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלִמְהִיLIM/hiLimhiלְהִטָּבֵלle/hit/ta/VELto be baptizedוְגַםve/GAMand alsoכׇּל־עַמּוֹkol-am/MOall his peopleחָפְצוּcha/fe/TSUwere desirousלְהִטָּבֵל׃le/hit/ta/VELto be baptized

    And it came to pass that after Alma had taught the people many things, and had made an end of speaking to them, that king Limhi was desirous that he might be baptized; and all his people were desirous that they might be baptized also.

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeהָלַךְha/LAKHwentאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאֶל־הַמַּיִםel-ham/MA/yiminto the watersוַיַּטְבֵּלvay/yat/BELand baptizedאוֹתָםo/TAMthemכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהִטְבִּילhit/BILhe baptizedאֶת־אֶחָיוet-e/CHAYVhis brethrenבְּמֵיbe/MEin the watersמוֹרְמוֹןMOR/monof Mormonוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand as many asהִטְבִּילhit/BILhe baptizedהָיוּha/YUbelongedלַעֲדַתla/a/DATto the churchהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godוְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofאֱמוּנָתָםe/mu/na/TAMtheir beliefבְּדִבְרֵיbe/div/REon the wordsאַלְמָא׃AL/maof Alma

    Therefore, Alma did go forth into the water and did baptize them; yea, he did baptize them after the manner he did his brethren in the waters of Mormon; yea, and as many as he did baptize did belong to the church of God; and this because of their belief on the words of Alma.

    וַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand grantedהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingמוֹשִׁיָּהMo/SHIY/yaMosiahלְאַלְמָאle/AL/maunto Almaלְהָקִיםle/ha/KIMto establishקְהִלּוֹתke/hil/LOTchurchesבְּכׇל־אֶרֶץbe/KHOL-E/retsthroughout all the landזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaוַיִּתֶּן־לוֹvay/YIT/ten-loand gave himכֹּחַKO/achpowerלִמְשֹׁחַlim/SHO/achto ordainכֹּהֲנִיםko/ha/NIMpriestsוּמוֹרִיםu/mo/RIMand teachersעַלaloverכׇּלkoleveryעֵדָה׃e/DAchurch

    And it came to pass that king Mosiah granted unto Alma that he might establish churches throughout all the land of Zarahemla; and gave him power to ordain priests and teachers over every church.

20. 20

    וַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand wasזֹאתzotthisכִּיkibecauseרַבravnumerous wereהָעָםha/AMthe peopleמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERthanיוּכַלyu/KHALcouldמוֹרֶהmo/REa teacherאֶחָדe/CHADoneלִמְשֹׁלlim/SHOLruleבָּםbamover themוְלֹאve/LOand notיָכְלוּya/khe/LUcouldכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ahearאֶת־דְּבַר־אֱלֹהִיםet-de/VAR-e/lo/HIMthe word of Godבְּקָהָלbe/ka/HALin an assemblyאֶחָד׃e/CHADone

    Now this was done because there were so many people that they could not all be governed by one teacher; neither could they all hear the word of God in one assembly;

21. 21

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeנִקְהֲלוּnik/ha/LUthey gatheredלַאֲגֻדּוֹתla/a/gud/DOTinto bodiesשֹׁנוֹתsho/NOTdifferentוַיִּקָּרְאוּvay/yik/ka/re/Uand were calledקְהִלּוֹתke/hil/LOTchurchesוּלְכׇל־עֵדָהu/le/KHOL-e/DAand every church hadכֹּהֲנֶיהָko/ha/NE/haits priestsוּמוֹרֶיהָu/mo/re/HAand its teachersוְכׇל־כֹּהֵןve/KHOL-ko/HENand every priestמַטִּיףmat/TIFpreachedאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasנִמְסַרnim/SARdeliveredאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמִפִּיmip/PIby the mouthאַלְמָא׃AL/maof Alma

    Therefore they did assemble themselves together in different bodies, being called churches; every church having their priests and their teachers, and every priest preaching the word according as it was delivered to him by the mouth of Alma.

    וְכֵןve/KHENand thusגַּם־כִּיgam-kialthoughהָיוּha/YUthere wereקְהִלּוֹתke/hil/LOTchurchesרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyהָיוּha/YUthey wereכֻלָּםkhul/LAMallעֵדָהe/DAa churchאַחַתa/CHAToneאַףafyea evenעֲדַתa/DATthe churchהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godכִּי־לֹאki-lofor nothingהִטִּיפוּhit/ti/FUthey preachedבְּכׇל־הַקְּהִלּוֹתbe/KHOL-hak/ke/hil/LOTin all the churchesזוּלַתzu/LATexceptתְּשׁוּבָהte/shu/VArepentanceוֶאֱמוּנָהve/e/mu/NAand faithבֵּאלֹהִים׃be/lo/HIMin God

    And thus, notwithstanding there being many churches they were all one church, yea, even the church of God; for there was nothing preached in all the churches except it were repentance and faith in God.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand there wereשֶׁבַעSHE/vasevenקְהִלּוֹתke/hil/LOTchurchesבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the landזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכׇל־הֶחָפֵץkhol-he/cha/FETSthat whosoever was desirousלָשֵׂאתla/SETto takeעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himאֶת־שֵׁםet-shemthe nameהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achof Christאוֹoorהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוַיִּדְבַּקvay/yid/BAKjoinedבִּקְהִלּוֹתbik/hil/LOTthe churchesהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMof God

    And now there were seven churches in the land of Zarahemla. And it came to pass that whosoever were desirous to take upon them the name of Christ, or of God, they did join the churches of God;

    וַיִּקָּרְאוּvay/yik/ka/re/Uand they were calledעַםamthe peopleהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godוַיִּשְׁפֹּךְvay/yish/POKHand poured outיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֶת־רוּחוֹet-Ru/CHOHis Spiritעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themוַיְבָרְכֵםvay/va/re/KHEMand blessed themוַיַּצְלִיחוּvay/yats/LI/chuand they prosperedבָּאָרֶץ׃ba/A/retsin the land

    And they were called the people of God. And the Lord did pour out his Spirit upon them, and they were blessed, and prospered in the land.
