   And now it came to pass that the persecutions which were inflicted on the church by the unbelievers became so great that the church began to murmur, and complain to their leaders concerning the matter; and they did complain to Alma. And Alma laid the case before their king, Mosiah. And Mosiah consulted with his priests.

   And it came to pass that king Mosiah sent a proclamation throughout the land round about that there should not any unbeliever persecute any of those who belonged to the church of God.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand there wasמִצְוָהmits/VAa commandmentחֲזָקָהcha/za/KAstrictבְּכׇל־הַקְּהִלּוֹתbe/KHOL-hak/ke/hil/LOTthroughout all the churchesכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notתִהְיֶינָהtih/YE/nathere should beרְדִיפוֹתre/di/FOTpersecutionsבֵּינֵיהֶםbe/ne/HEMamong themוְכִיve/KHIand thatיִהְיוּyih/YUshould beשָׁוִיםsha/VIMequalכׇּל־הָאֲנָשִׁים׃kol-ha/a/na/SHIMall men

   And there was a strict command throughout all the churches that there should be no persecutions among them, that there should be an equality among all men;

   וְלֹא־יַפְרִיעוּve/LO-yaf/ri/Uand shall not disturbגֵּאוּתge/UTprideוְגַבְהוּתve/gav/HUTnor haughtinessאֶת־שְׁלוֹמָםet-she/lo/MAMtheir peaceוְכִיve/KHIand thatיַחְשֹׁבyach/SHOVshould esteemכׇּל־אִישׁkol-ishevery manאֶת־רֵעֵהוּet-re/E/huhis neighborכְּנַפְשׁוֹke/naf/SHOas himselfבְּעׇמְלָםbe/om/LAMlaboringבִּידֵיהֶםbi/de/HEMwith their own handsלְמִחְיָתָם׃le/mich/ya/TAMfor their support

   That they should let no pride nor haughtiness disturb their peace; that every man should esteem his neighbor as himself, laboring with their own hands for their support.

   Yea, and all their priests and teachers should labor with their own hands for their support, in all cases save it were in sickness, or in much want; and doing these things, they did abound in the grace of God.

   And there began to be much peace again in the land; and the people began to be very numerous, and began to scatter abroad upon the face of the earth, yea, on the north and on the south, on the east and on the west, building large cities and villages in all quarters of the land.

   And the Lord did visit them and prosper them, and they became a large and wealthy people.

   Now the sons of Mosiah were numbered among the unbelievers; and also one of the sons of Alma was numbered among them, he being called Alma, after his father; nevertheless, he became a very wicked and an idolatrous man. And he was a man of many words, and did speak much flattery to the people; therefore he led many of the people to do after the manner of his iniquities.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand he becameלְמִכְשׁוֹלle/mikh/SHOLa hindranceגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatלַעֲדַתla/a/DATto the churchהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godוַיִּגְנֹבvay/yig/NOVstealing awayאֶת־לֵבet-levthe heartsהָעָםha/AMof the peopleוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand he causedמְרִיבוֹתme/ri/VOTcontentionsרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyבֵּיןbenamongהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveמָקוֹםma/KOMopportunityלְאוֹיֵבle/o/YEVunto the enemyהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godלְהַרְאוֹתle/har/OTto exerciseכֹּחוֹko/CHOhis powerעֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMover them

   And he became a great hinderment to the prosperity of the church of God; stealing away the hearts of the people; causing much dissension among the people; giving a chance for the enemy of God to exercise his power over them.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedבְּלֶכְתּוֹbe/lekh/TOwhile he was going aboutלְהַשְׁחִיתle/hash/CHITto destroyאֶת־עֲדַתet-a/DATthe churchהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godכִּיkiforהָלַךְha/LAKHwentבַּסֵּתֶרbas/SE/terprivatelyעִם־בְּנֵיim-be/NEwith the sonsמוֹשִׁיָּהMo/SHIY/yaof Mosiahלְהַשְׁחִיתle/hash/CHITto destroyאֶת־הָעֵדָהet-ha/e/DAthe churchוּלְהַתְעוֹתu/le/hat/OTand to lead astrayאֶת־עַםet-amthe peopleיְהוָהAdonaiof AdonaiנֶגֶדNE/gedagainstמִצְוֹתmits/VOTthe commandmentsאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godאוֹoorאַףafevenהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

    And now it came to pass that while he was going about to destroy the church of God, for he did go about secretly with the sons of Mosiah seeking to destroy the church, and to lead astray the people of the Lord, contrary to the commandments of God, or even the king—

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand asאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedבְּלֶכְתָּםbe/lekh/TAMas they were going aboutלִמְרוֹדlim/RODrebellingבֵּאלֹהִיםbe/lo/HIMagainst Godוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEbeholdמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angelיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiנִרְאָהnir/Aappearedאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themוַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redand he descendedכְּמוֹke/MOasבֶּעָנָןbe/a/NANin a cloudוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand he spokeכְּקוֹלke/KOLas with the voiceרַעַםRA/amof thunderאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהִרְעִישׁhir/ISHshookאֶת־הָאֲדָמָהet-ha/a/da/MAthe earthאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעָמְדוּa/me/DUthey stoodעָלֶיהָ׃a/LE/haupon it

    And as I said unto you, as they were going about rebelling against God, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto them; and he descended as it were in a cloud; and he spake as it were with a voice of thunder, which caused the earth to shake upon which they stood;

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand wasתִּמְהוֹנָםtim/ho/NAMtheir astonishmentגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatנָפְלוּna/fe/LUthey fellאָרְצָהAR/tsato the earthוְלֹאve/LOand notהֵבִינוּhe/VI/nuthey understoodאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsאֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרa/SHER-dib/BERwhich he spokeאֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMunto them

    And so great was their astonishment, that they fell to the earth, and understood not the words which he spake unto them.

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he criedעוֹדodagainלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaקוּםkumariseוַעֲמֹדva/a/MODand stand forthלָמָּהLAM/mawhyתִּרְדֹּףtir/DOFdo you persecuteאֶת־עֲדַתet-a/DATthe churchהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godכִּי־כֹהki-khofor thusאָמַרa/MARsaidיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiזֹאתzotthis isעֲדָתִיa/da/TIMy churchוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֲקִימֶנָּהa/ki/men/NAwill establish itוְלֹא־יַפִּילֶנָּהve/LO-yap/pi/len/NAand shall not overthrow itדָּבָרda/VARanythingזוּלַתzu/LATsaveפֶּשַׁעPE/shathe transgressionעַמִּי׃am/MIof My people

    Nevertheless he cried again, saying: Alma, arise and stand forth, for why persecutest thou the church of God? For the Lord hath said: This is my church, and I will establish it; and nothing shall overthrow it, save it is the transgression of my people.

    וַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/mersaidהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשָׁמַעsha/MAheardיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֶת־תְּפִלּוֹתet-te/fil/LOTthe prayersעַמּוֹam/MOof His peopleוְגַםve/GAMand alsoאֶת־תְּפִלַּתet-te/fil/LATthe prayersעַבְדּוֹav/DOof His servantאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherכִּיkiforהִתְפַּלֵּלhit/pal/LELhe prayedבֶּאֱמוּנָהbe/e/mu/NAwith faithרַבָּהrab/BAgreatבַּעַדְךָba/ad/KHAconcerning youלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתּוּבָאtu/VAyou might be broughtלְדַעַתle/DA/atto the knowledgeהָאֱמֶתha/e/METof the truthוְעַל־כֵּןve/AL-kenthereforeבָּאתִיBA/tiI cameלְהוֹכִיחַle/ho/KHI/achto convinceלְךָle/KHAunto youאֶת־כֹּחַet-KO/achthe powerהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godוְשִׁלְטוֹנוֹve/shil/to/NOand His authorityלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתֵּעָנֶינָהte/a/ne/NAmight be answeredתְּפִלּוֹתte/fil/LOTthe prayersעֲבָדָיוa/va/DAYVof His servantsכְּפִיke/FIaccording toאֱמוּנָתָם׃e/mu/na/TAMtheir faith

    And again, the angel said: Behold, the Lord hath heard the prayers of his people, and also the prayers of his servant, Alma, who is thy father; for he has prayed with much faith concerning thee that thou mightest be brought to the knowledge of the truth; therefore, for this purpose have I come to convince thee of the power and authority of God, that the prayers of his servants might be answered according to their faith.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהֲתוּכְלוּha/tukh/LUcan youלְכַחֵשׁle/kha/CHESHdenyבְּכֹחַbe/KHO/achthe powerהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godכִּיkiforהֲלֹאha/LOdoes notקוֹלִיko/LImy voiceמַרְעִישׁmar/ISHshakeאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe earthוְהַאִםve/ha/IMand can youלֹאlonotתִרְאוּנִיtir/u/NIsee meלִפְנֵיכֶםlif/ne/KHEMbefore youוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand I amשָׁלוּחַsha/LU/achsentמֵאֵתme/ETfromאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    And now behold, can ye dispute the power of God? For behold, doth not my voice shake the earth? And can ye not also behold me before you? And I am sent from God.

    Now I say unto thee: Go, and remember the captivity of thy fathers in the land of Helam, and in the land of Nephi; and remember how great things he has done for them; for they were in bondage, and he has delivered them. And now I say unto thee, Alma, go thy way, and seek to destroy the church no more, that their prayers may be answered, and this even if thou wilt of thyself be cast off.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּי־אֵלֶּהki-EL/lethat theseהָיוּha/YUwereהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאַחֲרוֹנִיםha/a/cha/ro/NIMlastאֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרa/SHER-dib/BERwhich spokeהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelאֶל־אַלְמָאel-AL/maunto Almaוַיֵּלַךְ׃vay/ye/LAKHand he departed

    And now it came to pass that these were the last words which the angel spake unto Alma, and he departed.

    And now Alma and those that were with him fell again to the earth, for great was their astonishment; for with their own eyes they had beheld an angel of the Lord; and his voice was as thunder, which shook the earth; and they knew that there was nothing save the power of God that could shake the earth and cause it to tremble as though it would part asunder.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand wasתִּמְהוֹןtim/HONthe astonishmentאַלְמָאAL/maof Almaגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatנֶאֱלַםne/e/LAMhe became dumbוְלֹא־יָכֹלve/LO-ya/KHOLand could notלִפְתֹּחַlif/TO/achopenאֶת־פִּיוet-pivhis mouthוְגַםve/GAMand alsoחָלַשׁcha/LASHhe became weakעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatלֹא־יָכֹלlo-ya/KHOLhe could notלְהָנִיעַle/ha/NI/amoveאֶת־יָדָיוet-ya/DAYVhis handsעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeנְשָׂאֻהוּne/sa/u/HUhe was taken byאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthose who wereאִתּוֹit/TOwith himוַיּוֹבִילֻהוּvay/yo/vi/lu/HUand carriedכְּאֵיןke/ENas withoutאוֹנִיםo/NIMstrengthעַד־אֲשֶׁרad-a/SHERuntilהוּשַׂםhu/SAMwas placedלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

    And now the astonishment of Alma was so great that he became dumb, that he could not open his mouth; yea, and he became weak, even that he could not move his hands; therefore he was taken by those that were with him, and carried helpless, even until he was laid before his father.

    And they rehearsed unto his father all that had happened unto them; and his father rejoiced, for he knew that it was the power of God.

    וַיַּקְהֵלvay/yak/HELand he assembledהָמוֹןha/MONa multitudeרַבravgreatלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִרְאוּyir/Uthey might seeאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERthat whichעָשָׂהa/SAdidיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiלִבְנוֹliv/NOfor his sonוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERfor those whoהָיוּha/YUwereאִתּוֹ׃it/TOwith him

    And he caused that a multitude should be gathered together that they might witness what the Lord had done for his son, and also for those that were with him.

22. 22

    וַיַּקְהֵלvay/yak/HELand he assembledאֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִיםet-hak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand they beganלָצוּםla/TSUMto fastוּלְהִתְפַּלֵּלu/le/hit/pal/LELand to prayאֶל־יְהוָהel-Adonaito Adonaiאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMtheir Godכִּיkithatיִפְתַּחyif/TACHHe would openאֶת־פִּיet-pithe mouthאַלְמָאAL/maof Almaלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERhe might speakוְגַםve/GAMand alsoכִּיkithatיְקַבְּלוּye/kab/be/LUmight receiveאֵבָרָיוe/va/RAYVhis limbsאֶת־כֹּחָםet-ko/CHAMtheir strengthלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתִּפָּקַחְנָהtip/pa/KACH/namight be openedעֵינֵיe/NEthe eyesהָעָםha/AMof the peopleלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeוְלָדַעַתve/la/DA/atand to knowאֶת־חֶסֶדet-CHE/sedthe mercyהָאֵלha/ELof Godוּכְבוֹדוֹ׃u/khe/vo/DOand His glory

    And he caused that the priests should assemble themselves together; and they began to fast, and to pray to the Lord their God that he would open the mouth of Alma, that he might speak, and also that his limbs might receive their strength—that the eyes of the people might be opened to see and know of the goodness and glory of God.

23. 23

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterצוּמָםtsu/MAMthey fastedוְהִתְפַּלְלָםve/hit/pal/LAMand prayedשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoיָמִיםya/MIMdaysוּשְׁנֵיu/she/NEand twoלֵילוֹתle/LOTnightsוַיְקַבְּלוּvay/kab/be/LUand receivedאֵבְרֵיev/REthe limbsאַלְמָאAL/maof Almaאֶת־כֹּחָםet-ko/CHAMtheir strengthוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand he stood upוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִתְנַחֲמוּ׃hit/na/cha/MUbe comforted

    And it came to pass after they had fasted and prayed for the space of two days and two nights, the limbs of Alma received their strength, and he stood up and began to speak unto them, bidding them to be of good comfort:

24. 24

    כִּיkiforאָמַרa/MARsaid heשַׁבְתִּיSHAV/tiI repentedמֵחַטֹּאתַיme/chat/to/TAYof my sinsוּגְאָלַנִיu/ge/a/la/NIand have been redeemed byיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנוֹלַדְתִּיno/lad/TII am bornמֵהָרוּחַ׃me/Ha/RU/achof the Spirit

    For, said he, I have repented of my sins, and have been redeemed of the Lord; behold I am born of the Spirit.

25. 25

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֵלַיe/LAYunto meאַל־תִּתְמַהּal-tit/MAmarvel notכִּיkithatכׇל־הָאָדָםkhol-ha/a/DAMall mankindאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenוְנָשִׁיםve/na/SHIMand womenכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםkol-hag/go/YIMall nationsמִשְׁפָּחוֹתmish/pa/CHOTkindredsלְשׁוֹנוֹתle/sho/NOTtonguesוְעַמִּיםve/am/MIMand peoplesעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMmustלְהִוָּלֵדle/hiv/va/LEDbe bornשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainאַףafyeaלְהִוָּלֵדle/hiv/va/LEDbe bornמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMof Godלְהֵהָפֵךְle/he/ha/FEKHbeing changedמִבְּשָׂרָםmib/be/sa/RAMfrom their fleshוּנְפִילָתָםu/ne/fi/la/TAMand fallאֶל־צְדָקָהel-tse/da/KAunto righteousnessבִּגְאֻלַּתbig/ul/LATbeing redeemed byאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beבָּנָיוba/NAYVHis sonsוּבְנוֹתָיו׃u/ve/no/TAYVand His daughters

    And the Lord said unto me: Marvel not that all mankind, yea, men and women, all nations, kindreds, tongues and people, must be born again; yea, born of God, changed from their carnal and fallen state, to a state of righteousness, being redeemed of God, becoming his sons and daughters;

26. 26

    וְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusיִהְיוּyih/YUthey shall becomeלִבְרִיּוֹתliv/riy/YOTcreaturesחֲדָשׁוֹתcha/da/SHOTnewוּבִלְתִּיu/vil/TIand exceptעֲשׂוֹתָםa/so/TAMthey doזֹאתzotthisיָרֹשׁya/ROSHsurelyלֹא־יִירְשׁוּlo-YI/re/shuthey shall not inheritאֶת־מַלְכוּתet-mal/KHUTthe kingdomהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMof God

    And thus they become new creatures; and unless they do this, they can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God.

27. 27

    אֲנִיa/NIIאוֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youאִם־לֹאim-loif notיִהְיֶהyih/YEit shall beכֵןkhensoעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMmustלְהִכָּרֵתle/hik/ka/RETbe cast offוְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowכִּיkibecauseהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI wasקָרוֹבka/ROVnighלְהִכָּרֵת׃le/hik/ka/RETto be cast off

    I say unto you, unless this be the case, they must be cast off; and this I know, because I was like to be cast off.

28. 28

    אַךְakhneverthelessאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterעׇבְרִיov/RImy passing throughבְּצָרוֹתbe/tsa/ROTtribulationsרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyוּתְשׁוּבָהu/te/shu/VAand repentanceעַד־לָמוּתad-la/MUTnigh unto deathהוֹאִילho/ILsaw fitיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiבְּרַחֲמָיוbe/ra/cha/MAYVin His mercyלְהַצִּילֵנִיle/hats/tsi/LE/nito snatch meמִשְּׂרֵפַתmis/se/re/FATfrom a burningעוֹלָםo/LAMeverlastingוְנוֹלַדְתִּיve/no/lad/TIand I am bornמֵאֱלֹהִים׃me/e/lo/HIMof God

    Nevertheless, after wading through much tribulation, repenting nigh unto death, the Lord in mercy hath seen fit to snatch me out of an everlasting burning, and I am born of God.

29. 29

    נִגְאֲלָהnig/a/LAhas been redeemedנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulמִמְּרוֹרַתmim/me/ro/RATfrom the gallרוֹשׁroshof bitternessוּמִכַּבְלֵיu/mik/kav/LEand from the bondsעָוֹןa/VONof iniquityהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI wasבִּתְהוֹםbit/HOMin the abyssמַאְפֵּלְיָהma/pel/YAof deepest darknessוְעַתָּהve/at/TAbut nowרָאִיתִיra/I/tiI sawאֶת־אוֹרet-orthe lightהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godהַנִּפְלָאhan/nif/LAthe marvelousעֻנְּתָהun/ne/TAwas rackedנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulבְּעִנּוּיֵיbe/in/nu/YEwith tormentsעוֹלָםo/LAMof eternalאַךְakhbutנִצַּלְתִּיnits/tsal/TII am snatchedוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noעוֹדodmoreמַכְאוֹבmakh/OVpainלְנַפְשִׁי׃le/naf/SHIunto my soul

    My soul hath been redeemed from the gall of bitterness and bonds of iniquity. I was in the darkest abyss; but now I behold the marvelous light of God. My soul was racked with eternal torment; but I am snatched, and my soul is pained no more.

30. 30

    מָאַסְתִּיma/AS/tiI rejectedאֶת־גּוֹאֲלִיet-Go/a/LImy Redeemerוְכִחַשְׁתִּיve/khi/CHASH/tiand deniedבַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERthat whichדִּבְּרוּdib/be/RUspokeאֲבוֹתֵינוּa/vo/TE/nuour fathersאַךְakhbutעַתָּהat/TAnowלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיֵדְעוּyed/Uthey may knowכִּיkithatיָבוֹאya/VOHe shall comeוְכִיve/KHIand thatיִזְכֹּרyiz/KORHe shall rememberכׇּל־בְּרִיָּהkol-be/riy/YAevery creatureאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּרָאba/RAHe createdיִתְגַּלֶּהyit/gal/LEHe shall reveal Himselfלַכֹּל׃lak/KOLunto all

    I rejected my Redeemer, and denied that which had been spoken of by our fathers; but now that they may foresee that he will come, and that he remembereth every creature of his creating, he will make himself manifest unto all.

31. 31

    הֵןhenyeaכׇּל־בֶּרֶךְkol-BE/rekhevery kneeתִּכְרַעtikh/RAshall bowוְכׇל־לָשׁוֹןve/KHOL-la/SHONand every tongueתּוֹדֶהto/DEshall confessלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore Himאַףafyea evenבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe lastכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenיַעַמְדוּya/am/DUshall standכׇל־הָאָדָםkhol-ha/a/DAMall menלְהִשָּׁפֵטle/hish/sha/FETto be judgedלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore Himאָזazthenיוֹדוּyo/DUshall they confessכִּי־הוּאki-huthat He isאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאָזazthenיוֹדוּyo/DUshall they confessהַחַיִּיםha/chay/YIMthe livingבְּלִיbe/LIwithoutאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבָּעוֹלָםba/o/LAMin the worldכִּיkithatמִשְׁפַּטmish/PATthe judgmentעֹנֶשׁO/neshof punishmentעוֹלָםo/LAMeverlastingצֶדֶקTSE/dekis righteousעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themוְיִרְעֲדוּve/yir/a/DUand they shall trembleוְיִרְגְּזוּve/yir/ge/ZUand they shall quakeוְיִסּוֹגוּve/yis/so/GUand they shall shrinkמִמַּבַּטmim/mab/BATfrom the glanceעֵינוֹe/NOof His eyeהַחוֹקֶרֶתha/cho/KE/retthat searchesכֹּל׃kolall

    Yea, every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess before him. Yea, even at the last day, when all men shall stand to be judged of him, then shall they confess that he is God; then shall they confess, who live without God in the world, that the judgment of an everlasting punishment is just upon them; and they shall quake, and tremble, and shrink beneath the glance of his all-searching eye.

32. 32

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedמֵעֵתme/ETfrom the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatוָהָלְאָהva/HAL/aforwardוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaלְלַמֵּדle/lam/MEDto teachאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand those thatהָיוּha/YUwereעִם־אַלְמָאim-AL/mawith Almaבְּעֵתbe/ETat the timeהֵרָאוֹתhe/ra/OTappearedהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themוַיִּסְּעוּvay/yis/se/Uand they traveledבְּכׇל־הָאָרֶץbe/KHOL-ha/A/retsthroughout all the landוַיַּשְׁמִיעוּvay/yash/MI/uand they publishedלְכׇל־הָעָםle/KHOL-ha/AMunto all the peopleאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhichשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uthey heardוְרָאוּve/ra/Uand seenוַיַּטִּיפוּvay/yat/ti/FUand they preachedדְּבַר־אֱלֹהִיםde/VAR-e/lo/HIMthe word of Godבְּצָרוֹתbe/tsa/ROTin tribulationsרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyוַיִּרְדְּפוּםvay/yir/de/FUMand persecuted themמְאֹדme/ODgreatlyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthose whoלֹאlodid notהֶאֱמִינוּhe/e/MI/nubelieveוַיַּכּוּםvay/yak/KUMand smote themרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמֵהֶם׃me/HEMof them

    And now it came to pass that Alma began from this time forward to teach the people, and those who were with Alma at the time the angel appeared unto them, traveling round about through all the land, publishing to all the people the things which they had heard and seen, and preaching the word of God in much tribulation, being greatly persecuted by those who were unbelievers, being smitten by many of them.

33. 33

    אַךְakhneverthelessהֵבִיאוּhe/VI/uthey broughtנֶחָמָהne/cha/MAconsolationרַבָּהrab/BAmuchלָעֵדָהla/e/DAto the churchוַיְחַזְּקוּvay/chaz/ze/KUand they confirmedאֶת־אֱמוּנָתָםet-e/mu/na/TAMtheir faithוַיַּזְהִירוּםvay/yaz/hi/RUMand they exhorted themבְּאֹרֶךְbe/O/rekhwith lengthרוּחַRU/achof spiritוּבְעָמָלu/ve/a/MALand with travailרַבravmuchלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto keepאֶת־מִצְוֹתet-mits/VOTthe commandmentsאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

    But notwithstanding all this, they did impart much consolation to the church, confirming their faith, and exhorting them with long-suffering and much travail to keep the commandments of God.

34. 34

    וְאַרְבָּעָהve/ar/ba/Aand fourמֵהֶםme/HEMof themהָיוּha/YUwereבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sonsמוֹשִׁיָּהMo/SHIY/yaof Mosiahוּשְׁמוֹתָםu/she/mo/TAMand their names wereעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonוְאַהֲרֹןve/A/ha/RONand Aaronוְעׇמְנֵרve/Om/NERand Omnerוְחִמְנִיve/Chim/NIand HimniאֵלֶּהEL/lethese wereשְׁמוֹתshe/MOTthe namesבְּנֵיbe/NEof the sonsמוֹשִׁיָּה׃Mo/SHIY/yaof Mosiah

    And four of them were the sons of Mosiah; and their names were Ammon, and Aaron, and Omner, and Himni; these were the names of the sons of Mosiah.

35. 35

    וַיִּסְּעוּvay/yis/se/Uand they traveledבְּכׇל־אֶרֶץbe/KHOL-E/retsthroughout all the landזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaוּבְקֶרֶבu/ve/KE/revand amongכׇּל־הָעָםkol-ha/AMall the peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoתַּחַתTA/chatunderמֶמְשֶׁלֶתmem/SHE/letthe reignהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhof the kingמוֹשִׁיָּהMo/SHIY/yaMosiahוַיִּתְאַמְּצוּvay/yit/am/me/TSUand they stroveבְּחׇזְקָהbe/choz/KAmightilyלְתַקֵּןle/tak/KENto repairאֶת־כׇּל־הָרָעוֹתet-kol-ha/ra/OTall the injuriesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעָשׂוּa/SUthey didלָעֵדָהla/e/DAunto the churchוַיִּתְוַדּוּvay/yit/vad/DUand they confessedאֶת־כׇּל־חַטֹּאתָםet-kol-chat/to/TAMall their sinsוַיַּגִּידוּvay/yag/GI/duand they declaredאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall whichרָאוּra/Uthey sawוַיְבָאֲרוּvay/va/a/RUand they explainedאֶת־הַנְּבוּאוֹתet-han/ne/vu/OTthe propheciesוְהַכְּתוּבִיםve/hak/ke/tu/VIMand the scripturesלְכׇל־הֶחָפֵץle/KHOL-he/cha/FETSto all who desiredלִשְׁמֹעַ׃lish/MO/ato hear

    And they traveled throughout all the land of Zarahemla, and among all the people who were under the reign of king Mosiah, zealously striving to repair all the injuries which they had done to the church, confessing all their sins, and publishing all the things which they had seen, and explaining the prophecies and the scriptures to all who desired to hear them.

36. 36

    וַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand they wereלְכֵלִיםle/khe/LIMinstrumentsבְּיַדbe/YADin the handsהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godלְהָבִיאle/ha/VIto bringרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyלְדַעַתle/DA/atto the knowledgeהָאֱמֶתha/e/METof the truthאַףafyeaלְדַעַתle/DA/atto the knowledgeגּוֹאֲלָם׃Go/a/LAMof their Redeemer

    And thus they were instruments in the hands of God in bringing many to the knowledge of the truth, yea, to the knowledge of their Redeemer.

37. 37

    וּמַה־מְאֻשָּׁרִיםu/MA-me/ush/sha/RIMand how blessedהֵםhemare theyכִּיkiforהִשְׁמִיעוּhish/MI/uthey publishedשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceוַיְבַשְּׂרוּvay/vas/se/RUthey published good tidingsטוֹבtovof goodוַיַּגִּידוּvay/yag/GI/duand they declaredלָעָםla/AMunto the peopleכִּי־יְהוָהki-Adonaithat Adonaiמָלָךְ׃ma/LAKHreigns

    And how blessed are they! For they did publish peace; they did publish good tidings of good; and they did declare unto the people that the Lord reigneth.
