   וַיְהִיvay/HInow it happenedכְּכַלּוֹתke/khal/LOTwhen made an endעֲמוּלֶקA/mu/lekof Amulekאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיִּפָּרְדוּvay/yip/pa/re/DUwithdrew themselvesמִןminfromהֶהָמוֹןhe/ha/MONthe multitudeוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand came overאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsinto the landיֶרְשׁוֹן׃YER/shonof Jershon

   Now it came to pass that after Amulek had made an end of these words, they withdrew themselves from the multitude and came over into the land of Jershon.

   הֵןhenyeaוְגַםve/GAMand alsoיֶתֶרYE/terthe restהָאַחִיםha/a/CHIMof the brethrenאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterקׇרְאָםkor/AMthey preachedאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordאֶלeluntoהַזּוֹרָמִיםhaz/Zo/ra/MIMthe ZoramitesבָּאוּBA/ucame overגַּם־הֵםgam-hemthey alsoאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsinto the landיֶרְשׁוֹן׃YER/shonof Jershon

   Yea, and the rest of the brethren, after they had preached the word unto the Zoramites, also came over into the land of Jershon.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהִתְיָעֲצוּhit/ya/a/TSUconsultedרֹבrovthe greater partהַזּוֹרָמִיםhaz/Zo/ra/MIMof the Zoramitesעַל־הַדְּבָרִיםal-had/de/va/RIMconcerning the wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִקְרְאוּnik/re/Uhad been preachedלָהֶםla/HEMunto themוַיִּקְצְפוּvay/yik/tse/FUwere angryבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordכִּיkiforהִשְׁחִיתhish/CHITit destroyedאֶת־מִרְמָתָםet-mir/ma/TAMtheir craftלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeמֵאֲנוּme/a/NUthey would notלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ahearkenאֶלeluntoהַדְּבָרִים׃had/de/va/RIMthe words

   And it came to pass that after the more popular part of the Zoramites had consulted together concerning the words which had been preached unto them, they were angry because of the word, for it did destroy their craft; therefore they would not hearken unto the words.

   וַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUand they sentוַיַּקְהִילוּvay/yak/hi/LUand gathered togetherאֶת־כׇּל־הָעָםet-kol-ha/AMall the peopleבְּכׇל־הָאָרֶץbe/KHOL-ha/A/retsthroughout all the landוַיִּוָּעֲצוּvay/yiv/va/a/TSUand consultedעִמָּםim/MAMwith themעַל־הַדְּבָרִיםal-had/de/va/RIMconcerning the wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנֶאֶמְרוּ׃ne/em/RUhad been spoken

   And they sent and gathered together throughout all the land all the people, and consulted with them concerning the words which had been spoken.

   וְשָׂרֵיהֶםve/sa/re/HEMnow their rulersוְכֹהֲנֵיהֶםve/kho/ha/ne/HEMand their priestsוּמוֹרֵיהֶםu/mo/re/HEMand their teachersלֹאlodid notהוֹדִיעוּho/DI/umake knownלָעָםla/AMto the peopleאֶת־מְזִמּוֹתָםet-me/zim/mo/TAMtheir devicesלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeבַּסֵּתֶרbas/SE/terprivilyחָקְרוּcha/ke/RUthey found outאֶת־לֵבet-levthe heartכׇּל־הָעָם׃kol-ha/AMof all the people

   Now their rulers and their priests and their teachers did not let the people know concerning their desires; therefore they found out privily the minds of all the people.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterחׇקְרָםchok/RAMthey found outאֶת־לֵבet-levthe heartכׇּל־הָעָםkol-ha/AMof all the peopleוַיְגָרְשׁוּvay/ga/re/SHUand they cast outמִן־הָאָרֶץmin-ha/A/retsout of the landאֶת־הַתּוֹמְכִיםet-hat/tom/KHIMthose who were in favorבַּדְּבָרִיםbad/de/va/RIMof the wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבְּרוּdib/be/RUspokeאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaוְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brethrenוְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyהָיוּha/YUthey wereוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they came overגַּם־הֵםgam-hemthey alsoאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsinto the landיֶרְשׁוֹן׃YER/shonof Jershon

   And it came to pass that after they had found out the minds of all the people, those who were in favor of the words which had been spoken by Alma and his brethren were cast out of the land; and they were many; and they came over also into the land of Jershon.

   וַיְשָׁרְתוּvay/sha/re/TUand ministeredאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaוְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brethrenאוֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

   And it came to pass that Alma and his brethren did minister unto them.

8. 8

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowקָצְפוּka/tse/FUwere angryעַםamthe peopleהַזּוֹרָמִיםhaz/Zo/ra/MIMof the Zoramitesעַל־עַםal-amwith the peopleעַמּוֹןAm/MONof Ammonאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereבְּיֶרְשׁוֹןbe/YER/shonin Jershonוּמוֹשֵׁלu/mo/SHELand the rulerהַזּוֹרָמִיםhaz/Zo/ra/MIMof the Zoramitesהָרֹאשׁha/ROSHthe chiefבִּהְיוֹתוֹbih/yo/TObeingאִישׁisha manרָעrawickedמְאֹדme/ODveryשָׁלַחsha/LACHsentאֶל־עַםel-amunto the peopleעַמּוֹןAm/MONof Ammonוַיְבַקֵּשׁvay/vak/KESHdesiringכִּיkithatיְגָרְשׁוּye/ga/re/SHUthey should castמֵאַרְצָםme/ar/TSAMout of their landאֶת־כׇּל־הַבָּאִיםet-kol-hab/ba/IMall those who came overאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themמֵאִתָּם׃me/it/TAMfrom them

   Now the people of the Zoramites were angry with the people of Ammon who were in Jershon, and the chief ruler of the Zoramites, being a very wicked man, sent over unto the people of Ammon desiring them that they should cast out of their land all those who came over from them into their land.

   וַיִּפַּחvay/yip/PACHand he breathed outעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themגְּעָרוֹתge/a/ROTthreateningsרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowעַםamthe peopleעַמּוֹןAm/MONof Ammonלֹאlonotיָרְאוּya/re/Ufearedמִדִּבְרֵיהֶםmid/div/re/HEMtheir wordsלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeלֹאlonotגֵרְשׁוּםger/SHUMthey cast them outכִּי־אִםki-imbutאָסְפוּa/se/FUthey receivedאֶת־כׇּלet-kolallעֲנִיֵּיa/niy/YEthe poorהַזּוֹרָמִיםhaz/Zo/ra/MIMof the Zoramitesאֲשֶׁר־בָּאוּa/SHER-BA/uthat came overאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themוַיְכַלְכְּלוּםvay/khal/ke/LUMand they nourished themוַיַּלְבִּישׁוּםvay/yal/bi/SHUMand clothed themוַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand gaveלָהֶםla/HEMthemאֲרָצוֹתa/ra/TSOTlandsלְנַחֲלָהle/na/cha/LAfor their inheritanceוַיְשָׁרְתוּםvay/sha/re/TUMand they administered unto themכְּצׇרְכֵיהֶם׃ke/tsor/khe/HEMaccording to their wants

   And he breathed out many threatenings against them. And now the people of Ammon did not fear their words; therefore they did not cast them out, but they did receive all the poor of the Zoramites that came over unto them; and they did nourish them, and did clothe them, and did give unto them lands for their inheritance; and they did administer unto them according to their wants.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowזֹאתzotthisהֵעִירָהhe/i/RAstirred upאֶת־חֲמַתet-cha/MATthe wrathהַזּוֹרָמִיםhaz/Zo/ra/MIMof the ZoramitesנֶגֶדNE/gedagainstעַםamthe peopleעַמּוֹןAm/MONof Ammonוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand they beganלְהִתְעָרֵבle/hit/a/REVto mixעִם־הַלָּמָנִיםim-Hal/la/ma/NIMwith the Lamanitesוּלְהָעִירu/le/ha/IRand to stir upגַּםgamalsoאוֹתָםo/TAMthemלַחֲרוֹתla/cha/ROTto kindleאַףafangerנֶגְדָּם׃neg/DAMagainst them

    Now this did stir up the Zoramites to anger against the people of Ammon, and they began to mix with the Lamanites and to stir them up also to anger against them.

11. 11

    וְכֵןve/KHENand thusהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/lubeganהַזּוֹרָמִיםhaz/Zo/ra/MIMthe Zoramitesוְהַלָּמָנִיםve/hal/La/ma/NIMand the Lamanitesלַעֲרֹךְla/a/ROKHto prepare forמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarנֶגֶדNE/gedagainstעַםamthe peopleעַמּוֹןAm/MONof Ammonוְגַםve/GAMand alsoנֶגֶדNE/gedagainstהַנֶּפִיִּים׃han/Ne/fiy/YIMthe Nephites

    And thus the Zoramites and the Lamanites began to make preparations for war against the people of Ammon, and also against the Nephites.

12. 12

    וַתִּתֹּםvat/tit/TOMand thus endedהַשָּׁנָהhash/sha/NAthe yearהַשְּׁבַעhash/she/VAthe sevenעֶשְׂרֵהes/REtenלְמִמְשַׁלle/mim/SHALof the reignהַשֹּׁפְטִיםhash/shof/TIMof the judgesעַל־עַםal-amover the peopleנֶפִי׃NE/fiof Nephi

    And thus ended the seventeenth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi.

    And the people of Ammon departed out of the land of Jershon, and came over into the land of Melek, and gave place in the land of Jershon for the armies of the Nephites, that they might contend with the armies of the Lamanites and the armies of the Zoramites; and thus commenced a war betwixt the Lamanites and the Nephites, in the eighteenth year of the reign of the judges; and an account shall be given of their wars hereafter.

    And Alma, and Ammon, and their brethren, and also the two sons of Alma returned to the land of Zarahemla, after having been instruments in the hands of God of bringing many of the Zoramites to repentance; and as many as were brought to repentance were driven out of their land; but they have lands for their inheritance in the land of Jershon, and they have taken up arms to defend themselves, and their wives, and children, and their lands.

    Now Alma, being grieved for the iniquity of his people, yea for the wars, and the bloodsheds, and the contentions which were among them; and having been to declare the word, or sent to declare the word, among all the people in every city; and seeing that the hearts of the people began to wax hard, and that they began to be offended because of the strictness of the word, his heart was exceedingly sorrowful.

    Therefore, he caused that his sons should be gathered together, that he might give unto them every one his charge, separately, concerning the things pertaining unto righteousness. And we have an account of his commandments, which he gave unto them according to his own record.
