   And now it came to pass in the commencement of the thirtieth year of the reign of the judges, on the second day in the first month, Moroni received an epistle from Helaman, stating the affairs of the people in that quarter of the land.

   And these are the words which he wrote, saying: My dearly beloved brother, Moroni, as well in the Lord as in the tribulations of our warfare; behold, my beloved brother, I have somewhat to tell you concerning our warfare in this part of the land.

   Behold, two thousand of the sons of those men whom Ammon brought down out of the land of Nephi—now ye have known that these were descendants of Laman, who was the eldest son of our father Lehi;

   Now I need not rehearse unto you concerning their traditions or their unbelief, for thou knowest concerning all these things—

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeדַּיdayit sufficesלִיliunto meלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDthat I tellלְךָle/KHAyouכִּיkithatאַלְפַּיִםal/PA/yimtwo thousandמִן־הַנְּעָרִיםmin-han/ne/a/RIMof the young menהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseלָקְחוּla/ke/CHUtookאֶת־כְּלֵיet-ke/LEthe weaponsמִלְחַמְתָּםmil/cham/TAMof their warוַיַּחְפְּצוּvay/yach/pe/TSUand they desiredלָשׂוּםla/SUMto setאֹתִיo/TImeלְרֹאשׁle/ROSHfor a leaderלָהֶםla/HEMunto themוַנֵּצֵאvan/ne/TSEand we came forthלְהָגֵןle/ha/GENto defendעַל־אַרְצֵנוּ׃al-ar/TSE/nuour country

   Therefore it sufficeth me that I tell you that two thousand of these young men have taken their weapons of war, and would that I should be their leader; and we have come forth to defend our country.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowיָדַעְתָּya/DA/tayou knowגַּם־אַתָּהgam-at/TAyou alsoאֶת־הַבְּרִיתet-hab/be/RITthe covenantאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichכָּרְתוּka/re/TUmadeאֲבוֹתֵיהֶםa/vo/te/HEMtheir fathersלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInot toשְׂאֵתse/ETtake upכְּלֵיke/LEweaponsמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAof warנֶגֶדNE/gedagainstאֲחֵיהֶםa/che/HEMtheir brethrenלִשְׁפֹּךְlish/POKHto shedדָּם׃damblood

   And now ye also know concerning the covenant which their fathers made, that they would not take up their weapons of war against their brethren to shed blood.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasבִּשְׁנַתbish/NATin the yearעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMof twentyוָשֵׁשׁva/SHESHand sixכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenרָאוּra/Uthey sawאֶת־עׇנְיֵנוּet-on/YE/nuour afflictionוְצָרוֹתֵינוּve/tsa/ro/te/NUand our tribulationsבַּעֲבוּרָםba/a/vu/RAMfor themוַיַּעַמְדוּvay/ya/am/DUthey were aboutלְהָפֵרle/ha/FERto breakאֶת־הַבְּרִיתet-hab/be/RITthe covenantאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichכָּרְתוּka/re/TUthey madeוְלָשֵׂאתve/la/SETand to take upכְּלֵיke/LEweaponsמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAof warלְהָגֵןle/ha/GENto defendעָלֵינוּ׃a/LE/nuus

   But in the twenty and sixth year, when they saw our afflictions and our tribulations for them, they were about to break the covenant which they had made and take up their weapons of war in our defence.

   וְלֹאve/LObut notנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI would sufferלָהֶםla/HEMthemלְהָפֵרle/ha/FERto breakאֶת־הַבְּרִיתet-hab/be/RITthe covenantהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichכָּרְתוּka/re/TUthey madeכִּיkiforאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidאוּלַיu/LAYthat perhapsיְחַזְּקֵנוּye/chaz/ze/ke/NUwould strengthen usאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְלֹאve/LOand notנִסְבֹּלnis/BOLwe should sufferעוֹדodmoreבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofקַיֵּםkay/YEMthe fulfillingאֶת־הַשְּׁבוּעָהet-hash/she/vu/Aof the oathאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִשְׁבָּעוּ׃nish/BA/uthey swore

   But I would not suffer them that they should break this covenant which they had made, supposing that God would strengthen us, insomuch that we should not suffer more because of the fulfilling the oath which they had taken.

   But behold, here is one thing in which we may have great joy. For behold, in the twenty and sixth year, I, Helaman, did march at the head of these two thousand young men to the city of Judea, to assist Antipus, whom ye had appointed a leader over the people of that part of the land.

    And I did join my two thousand sons, (for they are worthy to be called sons) to the army of Antipus, in which strength Antipus did rejoice exceedingly; for behold, his army had been reduced by the Lamanites because their forces had slain a vast number of our men, for which cause we have to mourn.

    אַךְakhneverthelessנִתְנַחֵםnit/na/CHEMmay console ourselvesבַּדָּבָרbad/da/VARin the pointהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּיkithatמֵתוּME/tuthey diedבְּעַדbe/ADforאַרְצָםar/TSAMtheir countryוֵאלֹהֵיהֶםve/lo/he/HEMand their Godוְאַשְׁרֵיהֶם׃ve/ash/re/HEMand they are happy

    Nevertheless, we may console ourselves in this point, that they have died in the cause of their country and of their God, yea, and they are happy.

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoהֶחֱזִיקוּhe/che/ZI/kuretainedהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesשְׁבוּיִיםshe/vu/YIMprisonersרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyכֻּלָּםkul/LAMall of themשָׂרֵיsa/REthe captainsצָבָאtsa/VAof the armyכִּי־לֹאki-lofor notהֶחֱיוּhe/che/YUhave they spared aliveזוּלָתָםzu/la/TAMany otherוַנַּחְשֹׁבvan/nach/SHOVand we supposeכִּיkithatהֵםhemtheyכָּעֵתka/ETare nowבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the landנֶפִיNE/fiof Nephiאִם־לֹאim-loif notהוּמָתוּ׃hu/ma/TUthey have been put to death

    And the Lamanites had also retained many prisoners, all of whom are chief captains, for none other have they spared alive. And we suppose that they are now at this time in the land of Nephi; it is so if they are not slain.

    וְאֵלֶּהve/EL/leand theseהֶעָרִיםhe/a/RIMare the citiesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whichיָרְשׁוּya/re/SHUobtained possessionהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesבִּשְׁפֹּךְbish/POKHby the sheddingדַּםdamof the bloodרַבִּיםrab/BIMof manyמֵאַנְשֵׁינוּme/an/she/NUof our menהַגִּבּוֹרִים׃hag/gib/bo/RIMthe valiant ones

    And now these are the cities of which the Lamanites have obtained possession by the shedding of the blood of so many of our valiant men:

    אֶרֶץE/retsthe landמַנְטִיMAN/tiof Mantiאוֹoorעִירirthe cityמַנְטִיMAN/tiof Mantiוְעִירve/IRand the cityזִיזְרוֹםZi/ZE/romof Zeezromוְעִירve/IRand the cityכּוּמֵנִיKU/me/niof Cumeniוְעִירve/IRand the cityאַנְטִיפָּרָה׃An/ti/PA/raof Antiparah

    The land of Manti, or the city of Manti, and the city of Zeezrom, and the city of Cumeni, and the city of Antiparah.

    וְאֵלֶּהve/EL/leand theseהֶעָרִיםhe/a/RIMare the citiesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיָרְשׁוּya/re/SHUthey possessedבְּבֹאִיbe/vo/Iwhen I arrivedאֶל־עִירel-irat the cityיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAof Judeaוָאֶמְצָאva/em/TSAand I foundאֶת־אַנְטִיפּוּסet-AN/ti/pusAntipusוַאֲנָשָׁיוva/a/na/SHAYVand his menעֲמֵלִיםa/me/LIMtoilingבְּכׇל־כֹּחָםbe/KHOL-ko/CHAMwith all their mightלְבַצֵּרle/vats/TSERto fortifyאֶת־הָעִיר׃et-ha/IRthe city

    And these are the cities which they possessed when I arrived at the city of Judea; and I found Antipus and his men toiling with their might to fortify the city.

    וְגַם־נָפְלָהve/GAM-na/fe/LAand also fellרוּחָםru/CHAMtheir spiritוַתִּרֶףvat/TI/refand became weakגְּוִיָּתָםge/viy/ya/TAMtheir bodyכִּיkiforנִלְחֲמוּnil/cha/MUthey foughtבְּאֹמֶץbe/O/metsvaliantlyבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMby dayוְעָמְלוּve/a/me/LUand toiledבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/laby nightלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto maintainאֶת־עָרֵיהֶםet-a/re/HEMtheir citiesוַיִּסְבְּלוּvay/yis/be/LUand they sufferedצָרוֹתtsa/ROTafflictionsגְּדוֹלוֹתge/do/LOTgreatמִכׇּל־מִין׃mik/KOL-minof every kind

    Yea, and they were depressed in body as well as in spirit, for they had fought valiantly by day and toiled by night to maintain their cities; and thus they had suffered great afflictions of every kind.

    וַיִּתְאַמְּצוּvay/yit/am/me/TSUand they were determinedלִגְבֹּרlig/BORto conquerבַּמָּקוֹםbam/ma/KOMin the placeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאוֹoorלָמוּתla/MUTto dieלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeתּוּכַלtu/KHALyou mayלְהָבִיןle/ha/VINunderstandכִּיkithatהַכֹּחַhak/KO/achthe forceהַקָּטָןhak/ka/TANthe littleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהֵבֵאתִיhe/VE/tiI broughtעִמִּיim/MIwith meאַףafyeaבָּנַיba/NAYmy sonsאֵלֶּהEL/letheseנָתְנוּna/te/NUgaveלָהֶםla/HEMthemתִּקְוָהtik/VAhopeגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוְשִׂמְחָהve/sim/CHAand joyרַבָּה׃rab/BAmuch

    And now they were determined to conquer in this place or die; therefore you may well suppose that this little force which I brought with me, yea, those sons of mine, gave them great hopes and much joy.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenרָאוּra/Usawהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesכִּי־קִבֵּלki-kib/BELthat receivedאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusAntipusעוֹדodmoreכֹּחַKO/achstrengthלִצְבָאוֹlits/va/Oto his armyוַיְאֻלְּצוּvay/ul/le/TSUthey were compelledעַל־פִּיal-pibyמִצְוַתmits/VATthe commandעַמּוֹרוֹןAM/mo/ronof Ammoronלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInot toבֹאvocomeלְהִלָּחֵםle/hil/la/CHEMto fightבְּעִירbe/IRagainst the cityיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAof Judeaאוֹoorנֶגְדֵּנוּ׃neg/de/NUagainst us

    And now it came to pass that when the Lamanites saw that Antipus had received a greater strength to his army, they were compelled by the orders of Ammoron to not come against the city of Judea, or against us, to battle.

    וְכֵןve/KHENand thusהֵיטִיבhe/TIVdealt wellיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiעִמָּנוּim/MA/nuwith usכִּיkiforלוּluhadבָּאוּBA/uthey comeעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuupon usבְּחֻלְשָׁתֵנוּbe/chul/sha/te/NUin our weaknessאוּלַיu/LAYperhapsהָיוּha/YUthey might haveמַשְׁמִידִיםmash/mi/DIMdestroyedאֶת־צְבָאֵנוּet-tse/va/e/NUour armyהַקָּטָןhak/ka/TANlittleוְכָכָהve/KHA/khabut thusנִשְׁמַרְנוּ׃nish/mar/NUwere we preserved

    And thus were we favored of the Lord; for had they come upon us in this our weakness they might have perhaps destroyed our little army; but thus were we preserved.

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand commandedאוֹתָםo/TAMthemעַמּוֹרוֹןAM/mo/ronAmmoronלְהַחֲזִיקle/ha/cha/ZIKto maintainבֶּעָרִיםbe/a/RIMthe citiesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלָכְדוּla/khe/DUthey tookוַתִּתֹּםvat/tit/TOMand thus endedשְׁנַתshe/NATthe yearעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMof twentyוָשֵׁשׁva/SHESHand sixוַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasבִּתְחִלַּתbit/chil/LATin the commencementשְׁנַתshe/NATof the yearעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMof twentyוָשֶׁבַעva/SHE/vaand sevenוַנָּכִיןvan/na/KHINwe preparedאֶת־עִירֵנוּet-i/re/NUour cityוְאֶת־נַפְשֵׁנוּve/ET-naf/SHE/nuand ourselvesלְמָגֵן׃le/ma/GENfor defense

    They were commanded by Ammoron to maintain those cities which they had taken. And thus ended the twenty and sixth year. And in the commencement of the twenty and seventh year we had prepared our city and ourselves for defence.

    וַנַּחְפֹּץvan/nach/POTSand we were desirousכִּי־יָבֹאוּki-ya/VO/uthat should comeעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuupon usהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesכִּי־לֹאki-lofor notחָפַצְנוּcha/fats/NUwe were desirousלִפְשֹׁטlif/SHOTto attackעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMthemבְּמִבְצְרֵיהֶם׃be/miv/tse/re/HEMin their strongholds

    Now we were desirous that the Lamanites should come upon us; for we were not desirous to make an attack upon them in their strongholds.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהֶעֱמַדְנוּhe/e/mad/NUwe setמְרַגְּלִיםme/rag/ge/LIMspiesסָבִיבsa/VIVround aboutלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto watchאֶת־מוֹצְאֵיet-mots/Ethe movementsהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesפֶּן־יַעַבְרוּpen-ya/av/RUlest they should passעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuby usבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/laby nightאוֹoorבַיּוֹםvay/YOMby dayלִפְשֹׁטlif/SHOTto attackעַל־עָרֵינוּal-a/re/NUupon our citiesהָאֲחֵרוֹתha/a/che/ROTthe otherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבַּצָּפוֹן׃bats/tsa/FONon the north

    And it came to pass that we kept spies out round about, to watch the movements of the Lamanites, that they might not pass us by night nor by day to make an attack upon our other cities which were on the northward.

    For we knew in those cities they were not sufficiently strong to meet them; therefore we were desirous, if they should pass by us, to fall upon them in their rear, and thus bring them up in the rear at the same time they were met in the front. We supposed that we could overpower them; but behold, we were disappointed in this our desire.

    They durst not pass by us with their whole army, neither durst they with a part, lest they should not be sufficiently strong and they should fall.

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoלֹאlonotהֵעֵזּוּhe/ez/ZUdurst theyלָרֶדֶתla/RE/detto go downנֶגֶדNE/gedagainstעִירirthe cityזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaוְלֹא־הֵעֵזּוּve/LO-he/ez/ZUneither durst theyלַעֲבֹרla/a/VORto crossאֶת־רֹאשׁet-roshthe headסִידוֹןSI/donof Sidonאֶל־עִירel-irto the cityנֶפִיהָה׃Ne/FI/haof Nephihah

    Neither durst they march down against the city of Zarahemla; neither durst they cross the head of Sidon, over to the city of Nephihah.

26. 26

    וְכֵןve/KHENand thusהִתְאַמְּצוּhit/am/me/TSUthey were determinedבְּחֵילוֹתֵיהֶםbe/che/lo/te/HEMwith their forcesלְהַחֲזִיקle/ha/cha/ZIKto maintainבֶּעָרִיםbe/a/RIMthe citiesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלָכָדוּ׃la/kha/DUthey took

    And thus, with their forces, they were determined to maintain those cities which they had taken.

27. 27

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedבַּחֹדֶשׁba/CHO/deshin the monthהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIthe secondבַּשָּׁנָהbash/sha/NAin the yearהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוַיּוּבְאוּvay/yuv/Uthere were broughtאֵלֵינוּe/LE/nuunto usצֵידָהtse/DAprovisionsרַבָּהrab/BAmanyמֵאֲבוֹתme/a/VOTfrom the fathersאַלְפַּיִםal/PA/yimof two thousandבָּנַי׃ba/NAYmy sons

    And now it came to pass in the second month of this year, there was brought unto us many provisions from the fathers of those my two thousand sons.

28. 28

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoנִשְׁלְחוּnish/le/CHUwere sentאֵלֵינוּe/LE/nuunto usאַלְפַּיִםal/PA/yimtwo thousandאִישׁishmenמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the landזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaוְכֵןve/KHENand thusהָיִינוּha/YI/nuwe wereמוּכָנִיםmu/kha/NIMpreparedעִם־עֲשֶׂרֶתim-a/SE/retwith tenאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandאִישׁishmenוְצֵידָהve/tse/DAand provisionsלָהֶםla/HEMfor themוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלִנְשֵׁיהֶםlin/she/HEMfor their wivesוּלְטַפָּם׃u/le/tap/PAMand their children

    And also there were sent two thousand men unto us from the land of Zarahemla. And thus we were prepared with ten thousand men, and provisions for them, and also for their wives and their children.

29. 29

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּרְאוֹתkir/OTwhen sawהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesכִּיkithatחֵילֵנוּche/le/NUour forceהוֹלֵךְho/LEKHwas goingוְגָדֵלve/ga/DELand growingיוֹםyomdayיוֹםyomby dayוְצֵידָהve/tse/DAand provisionsבָּאָהba/Awere arrivingלְמִחְיָתֵנוּle/mich/ya/te/NUfor our supportוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luthey beganלִירֹאli/ROto be afraidוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganלָצֵאתla/TSETto go forthאוּלַיu/LAYthat perhapsיוּכְלוּyukh/LUthey might be ableלְהַשְׁבִּיתle/hash/BITto put an endאֶת־קַבָּלַתet-kab/ba/LATto our receivingהַצֵּידָהhats/tse/DAprovisionsוְהַכֹּחַ׃ve/hak/KO/achand strength

    And the Lamanites, thus seeing our forces increase daily, and provisions arrive for our support, they began to be fearful, and began to sally forth, if it were possible to put an end to our receiving provisions and strength.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenרָאִינוּra/I/nuwe sawכִּיkithatהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/lubeganהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesלִדְאֹגlid/OGto be uneasyכָּכָהKA/khaafter this mannerוַנַּחְפֹּץvan/nach/POTSwe were desirousלְהָבִיאle/ha/VIto bringעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themתַּחְבּוּלָהtach/bu/LAa stratagemלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusAntipusכִּיkithatאֵצֵאe/TSEI should go forthעִם־בָּנַיim-ba/NAYwith my sonsהַקְּטַנִּיםhak/ke/tan/NIMthe littleאֶל־עִירel-irto a cityשְׁכֵנָהshe/khe/NAneighboringכְּמוֹלִיכִיםke/mo/li/KHIMas if carryingצֵידָהtse/DAprovisionsלְעִירle/IRto a cityשְׁכֵנָה׃she/khe/NAneighboring

    Now when we saw that the Lamanites began to grow uneasy on this wise, we were desirous to bring a stratagem into effect upon them; therefore Antipus ordered that I should march forth with my little sons to a neighboring city, as if we were carrying provisions to a neighboring city.

31. 31

    וַנֵּלֵךְvan/ne/LEKHand we were to goקָרוֹבka/ROVnearלְעִירle/IRto the cityאַנְטִיפָּרָהAn/ti/PA/raof Antiparahכְּהוֹלְכִיםke/hol/KHIMas if we were goingאֶל־הָעִירel-ha/IRto the cityמֵעֵבֶרme/E/verbeyondלָהּlaitבִּגְבוּלbig/VULin the bordersחוֹףchofof the shoreהַיָּם׃hay/YAMof the sea

    And we were to march near the city of Antiparah, as if we were going to the city beyond, in the borders by the seashore.

32. 32

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatיָצָאנוּya/TSA/nuwe went forthלַדֶּרֶךְlad/DE/rekhon the wayכְּמוֹלִיכִיםke/mo/li/KHIMas if carryingאֶת־צֵידָתֵנוּet-tse/da/te/NUour provisionsלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goאֶל־הָעִירel-ha/IRto the cityהַהִיא׃ha/HIthat

    And it came to pass that we did march forth, as if with our provisions, to go to that city.

33. 33

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatיָצָאya/TSAmarched forthאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusAntipusעִם־חֵלֶקim-CHE/lekwith a partמִצְּבָאוֹmits/tse/va/Oof his armyוַיַּשְׁאֵרvay/yash/ERand leftאֶת־הַנּוֹתָרet-han/no/TARthe remainderלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto maintainאֶת־הָעִירet-ha/IRthe cityאַךְakhbutלֹאlonotיָצָאya/TSAmarchedעַד־אֲשֶׁרad-a/SHERuntilיָצָאתִיya/TSA/tiI went forthעִם־צְבָאִיim-tse/va/Iwith my armyהַקָּטָןhak/ka/TANlittleוָאֶקְרַבva/ek/RAVand came nearאֶל־עִירel-irto the cityאַנְטִיפָּרָה׃An/ti/PA/raof Antiparah

    And it came to pass that Antipus did march forth with a part of his army, leaving the remainder to maintain the city. But he did not march forth until I had gone forth with my little army, and came near the city Antiparah.

34. 34

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowבְּעִירbe/IRin the cityאַנְטִיפָּרָהAn/ti/PA/raof Antiparahחָנָהcha/NAencampedצְבָאtse/VAthe armyהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesהֶחָזָקhe/cha/ZAKthe strongestאַףafyeaהָרַבha/RAVthe most numerousבְּמִסְפָּר׃be/mis/PARin number

    And now, in the city Antiparah were stationed the strongest army of the Lamanites; yea, the most numerous.

35. 35

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenהוּגַדhu/GADit had been toldלָהֶםla/HEMthemעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEbyמְרַגְּלֵיהֶםme/rag/ge/le/HEMtheir spiesוַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uthey came forthעִם־צְבָאָםim-tse/va/AMwith their armyוַיִּצְעֲדוּvay/yits/a/DUand marchedלִקְרָאתֵנוּ׃lik/ra/TE/nuagainst us

    And it came to pass that when they had been informed by their spies, they came forth with their army and marched against us.

36. 36

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatנַסְנוּNAS/nuwe fledמִפְּנֵיהֶםmip/pe/ne/HEMbefore themצָפוֹנָהtsa/FO/nanorthwardוְכֵןve/KHENand thusהוֹבַלְנוּho/val/NUdid we lead awayאֶת־צְבָאet-tse/VAthe armyהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesהֶחָזָקhe/cha/ZAKthe most powerfulמִכֹּל׃mik/KOLof all

    And it came to pass that we did flee before them, northward. And thus we did lead away the most powerful army of the Lamanites;

37. 37

    הֵןhenyeaלְמֶרְחָקle/mer/CHAKto a distanceרַבravconsiderableעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenרָאוּra/Uthey sawאֶת־צְבָאet-tse/VAthe armyאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusof Antipusרוֹדֵףro/DEFpursuingאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMthemבְּכׇל־כֹּחָםbe/KHOL-ko/CHAMwith all their mightלֹא־פָנוּlo-fa/NUthey turned notיָמִיןya/MINto the rightאוֹoorשְׂמֹאלse/MOLto the leftכִּי־אִםki-imbutנָסְעוּna/se/Uthey went onבְּמַסָּעָםbe/mas/sa/AMtheir marchיָשָׁרya/SHARstraightאַחֲרֵינוּa/cha/RE/nuafter usוְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand asחָשַׁבְנוּcha/shav/NUwe supposeחָפְצוּcha/fe/TSUthey desiredלְהׇרְגֵנוּle/hor/ge/NUto slay usבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeיַשִּׂיגֵםyas/si/GEMshould overtake themאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusAntipusלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatלֹאlonotיֻקְּפוּyuk/ke/FUthey should be surroundedבְּיַדbe/YADby the handעַמֵּנוּ׃am/ME/nuof our people

    Yea, even to a considerable distance, insomuch that when they saw the army of Antipus pursuing them, with their might, they did not turn to the right nor to the left, but pursued their march in a straight course after us; and, as we suppose, it was their intent to slay us before Antipus should overtake them, and this that they might not be surrounded by our people.

38. 38

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusAntipusבִּרְאוֹתוֹbir/o/TObeholdingאֶת־צָרָתֵנוּet-tsa/ra/te/NUour distressהֵחִישׁhe/CHISHdid speedאֶת־מַסַּעet-mas/SAthe marchצְבָאוֹtse/va/Oof his armyאַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבָּאbacameלַיְלָהLAY/lanightלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeלֹאlonotהִשִּׂיגוּנוּhis/si/gu/NUthey overtook usוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלֹאlonotהִשִּׂיגhis/SIGovertookאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusAntipusאוֹתָםo/TAMthemוַנַּחֲנֶהvan/na/cha/NEand we campedלַלָּיְלָה׃lal/LAY/lafor the night

    And now Antipus, beholding our danger, did speed the march of his army. But behold, it was night; therefore they did not overtake us, neither did Antipus overtake them; therefore we did camp for the night.

39. 39

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeעֲלוֹתa/LOTthe risingהַשַּׁחַרhash/SHA/charof the dawnוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEbeholdהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesרוֹדְפִיםrod/FIMwere pursuingאַחֲרֵינוּa/cha/RE/nuafter usוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAthere was notבָנוּVA/nuin usכֹּחַKO/achstrengthרַבravsufficientלְהִלָּחֵםle/hil/la/CHEMto contendבָּםbamwith themאַףafyeaלֹאlonotאָבִיתִיa/VI/tiI wouldכִּיkithatיִפְּלוּyip/pe/LUshould fallבָנַיva/NAYmy sonsהַקְּטַנִּיםhak/ke/tan/NIMthe littleבִּידֵיהֶםbi/de/HEMinto their handsלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeנָסַעְנוּna/sa/NUwe went onבְּמַסָּעֵנוּbe/mas/sa/e/NUin our marchוַנִּשָּׂאvan/nis/SAand we tookמַסָּעֵנוּmas/sa/e/NUour marchאֶל־הַמִּדְבָּר׃el-ham/mid/BARinto the wilderness

    And it came to pass that before the dawn of the morning, behold, the Lamanites were pursuing us. Now we were not sufficiently strong to contend with them; yea, I would not suffer that my little sons should fall into their hands; therefore we did continue our march, and we took our march into the wilderness.

40. 40

    וְלֹא־הֵעֵזּוּve/LO-he/ez/ZUand they durst notלִפְנוֹתlif/NOTto turnיָמִיןya/MINto the rightאוֹoorשְׂמֹאלse/MOLto the leftפֶּן־יֻקְּפוּpen-yuk/ke/FUlest they should be surroundedוְגַם־אֲנִיve/GAM-a/NIand also Iלֹאlonotפָנִיתִיfa/ni/TIturnedיָמִיןya/MINto the rightאוֹoorשְׂמֹאלse/MOLto the leftפֶּן־יַשִּׂיגוּנִיpen-yas/si/gu/NIlest they should overtake meוְלֹאve/LOand notנוּכַלnu/KHALwe should be ableלַעֲמֹדla/a/MODto standנֶגְדָּםneg/DAMagainst themוְנִפֹּלve/nip/POLand should fallוְהֵםve/HEMand theyיִמָּלְטוּyim/ma/le/TUwould escapeוְכֵןve/KHENand thusנַסְנוּNAS/nuwe fledכׇּל־הַיּוֹםkol-hay/YOMall the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessעַד־כִּיad-kiuntilחָשָׁךְ׃cha/SHAKHit was dark

    Now they durst not turn to the right nor to the left lest they should be surrounded; neither would I turn to the right nor to the left lest they should overtake me, and we could not stand against them, but be slain, and they would make their escape; and thus we did flee all that day into the wilderness, even until it was dark.

41. 41

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenעָלָהa/LAaroseאוֹרorthe lightהַבֹּקֶרhab/BO/kerof the morningוַנִּרְאֶהvan/nir/Eand we sawעוֹדodagainאֶת־הַלָּמָנִיםet-Hal/la/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuupon usוַנָּנָסvan/na/NASand we fledמִפְּנֵיהֶם׃mip/pe/ne/HEMbefore them

    And it came to pass that again, when the light of the morning came we saw the Lamanites upon us, and we did flee before them.

42. 42

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notרָדְפוּra/de/FUthey pursuedאַחֲרֵינוּa/cha/RE/nuafter usהַרְחֵקhar/CHEKfarוַיַּעַמְדוּvay/ya/am/DUand they haltedוַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasבַּבֹּקֶרbab/BO/kerin the morningבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיhash/she/li/SHIthe thirdלַחֹדֶשׁla/CHO/deshof the monthהַשְּׁבִיעִי׃hash/she/vi/Ithe seventh

    But it came to pass that they did not pursue us far before they halted; and it was in the morning of the third day of the seventh month.

43. 43

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowלֹא־יָדַעְנוּlo-ya/DA/nuwe knew notאִם־הִשִּׂיגָםim-his/si/GAMwhether had overtaken themאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusAntipusוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֶל־אֲנָשַׁיel-a/na/SHAYunto my menהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלֹאlonotנֵדַעne/DAwe knowאוּלַיu/LAYperhapsעָמְדוּa/me/DUthey haltedלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the purpose thatנָבוֹאna/VOwe should comeנֶגְדָּםneg/DAMagainst themוְיוּכְלוּve/yukh/LUthat they might be ableלְלׇכְדֵנוּle/lokh/de/NUto catch usבְּמוֹקְשָׁם׃be/mok/SHAMin their snare

    And now, whether they were overtaken by Antipus we knew not, but I said unto my men: Behold, we know not but they have halted for the purpose that we should come against them, that they might catch us in their snare;

44. 44

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowמָה־תֹּאמְרוּma-to/me/RUwhat say youבָּנַיba/NAYmy sonsהֲתֵלְכוּha/tel/KHUwill you goנֶגְדָּםneg/DAMagainst themלַמִּלְחָמָה׃lam/mil/cha/MAto battle

    Therefore what say ye, my sons, will ye go against them to battle?

45. 45

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֹמַרo/MARI sayלְךָle/KHAunto youאָחִיa/CHImy brotherהַיָּקָרhay/ya/KARthe dearמוֹרוֹנִיMo/RO/niMoroniכִּיkithatמֵעוֹלָםme/o/LAMeverלֹאlonotרָאִיתִיra/I/tihad I seenאֹמֶץO/metscourageגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatכָּזֶהka/ZEsuchאַףafnayלֹאlonotבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revamongכׇּל־הַנֶּפִיִּים׃kol-Han/ne/fiy/YIMall the Nephites

    And now I say unto you, my beloved brother Moroni, that never had I seen so great courage, nay, not amongst all the Nephites.

46. 46

    כִּיkiforכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasקָרָאתִיka/RA/tiI calledלָהֶםla/HEMthemתָּמִידta/MIDeverבָּנַיba/NAYmy sons(כִּיki(forכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themצְעִירִיםtse/i/RIMwere youngמְאֹד)me/ODvery)כֵּןkensoאָמְרוּa/me/RUthey saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meאָבִינוּa/VI/nuour fatherהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godעִמָּנוּim/MA/nuis with usוְהוּאve/HUand heלֹא־יִתֵּןlo-yit/TENwill not sufferלָנוּLA/nuunto usלִנְפֹּלlin/POLto fallלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeנֵצֵאne/TSElet us go forthלֹאlonotנַהֲרֹגna/ha/ROGwe would slayאֶת־אַחֵינוּet-a/CHE/nuour brethrenאִם־יַנִּיחוּim-yan/NI/chuif they would let aloneלָנוּLA/nuusלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeנֵלְכָהnel/KHAlet us goפֶּן־יִגְבְּרוּpen-yig/be/RUlest they should prevailעַל־צְבָאal-tse/VAover the armyאַנְטִיפּוּס׃AN/ti/pusof Antipus

    For as I had ever called them my sons (for they were all of them very young) even so they said unto me: Father, behold our God is with us, and he will not suffer that we should fall; then let us go forth; we would not slay our brethren if they would let us alone; therefore let us go, lest they should overpower the army of Antipus.

47. 47

    וְהֵםve/HEMand theyמֵעוֹלָםme/o/LAMeverלֹאlonotנִלְחֲמוּnil/cha/MUfoughtאַךְakhyetלֹאlonotיָרְאוּya/re/Udid they fearמִמָּוֶתmim/MA/vetdeathוַיַּחְשְׁבוּvay/yach/she/VUand they thoughtיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreעַל־דְּרוֹרal-de/RORupon the libertyאֲבוֹתֵיהֶםa/vo/te/HEMof their fathersמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERthanעַל־חַיֵּיהֶםal-chay/ye/HEMupon their livesאַףafyeaלִמְּדוּlim/me/DUtaughtאוֹתָםo/TAMthemאִמּוֹתֵיהֶםim/mo/te/HEMtheir mothersכִּי־אִםki-imthat ifלֹא־יִהְיֶהlo-yih/YEshould not beלִבָּםlib/BAMtheir heartתָּלוּיta/LUYhangingיַצִּילֵםyats/tsi/LEMwould deliver themאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.

48. 48

    וַיִּשְׁנוּvay/yish/NUand they rehearsedלִיliunto meאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe wordsאִמּוֹתֵיהֶםim/mo/te/HEMof their mothersלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֵיןenis notלִבֵּנוּlib/BE/nuour heartתָּלוּיta/LUYhangingכִּיkithatיָדְעוּya/de/Uknewאִמּוֹתֵינוּ׃im/mo/te/NUour mothers

    And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it.

49. 49

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatשַׁבְתִּיSHAV/tiI returnedעִם־אַלְפַּיim-al/PAYwith my two thousandנֶגֶדNE/gedagainstהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoרָדְפוּra/de/FUpursuedאַחֲרֵינוּa/cha/RE/nuafter usוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהִשִּׂיגוּםhis/si/GUMhad overtaken themצִבְאוֹתtsiv/OTthe armiesאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusof Antipusוַתָּחֶלvat/TA/cheland beganמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAa battleנוֹרָאָה׃no/ra/Aterrible

    And it came to pass that I did return with my two thousand against these Lamanites who had pursued us. And now behold, the armies of Antipus had overtaken them, and a terrible battle had commenced.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand wasצְבָאtse/VAthe armyאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusof Antipusעָיֵףa/YEFwearyמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofמַסָּעָםmas/sa/AMtheir marchהָאָרֹךְha/a/ROKHlongבְּעֵתbe/ETin a timeקְצָרָהke/tsa/RAshortוַיַּעַמְדוּvay/ya/am/DUand they were aboutלִנְפֹּלlin/POLto fallבִּידֵיbi/DEinto the handsהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesוְלוּלֵאve/lu/LEand if notשַׁבְתִּיSHAV/tiI returnedעִם־אַלְפַּיim-al/PAYwith my two thousandהָיוּha/YUthey would haveמַשִּׂיגִיםmas/si/GIMobtainedאֶת־מְזִמָּתָם׃et-me/zim/ma/TAMtheir purpose

    The army of Antipus being weary, because of their long march in so short a space of time, were about to fall into the hands of the Lamanites; and had I not returned with my two thousand they would have obtained their purpose.

    כִּי־נָפַלki-na/FALfor fellאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusAntipusלְפִי־חֶרֶבle/FI-CHE/revby the swordוְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyמִשָּׂרָיוmis/sa/RAYVof his leadersמֵרֹבme/ROVbecause of the abundanceעֲיֵפוּתָםa/ye/fu/TAMof their wearinessאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּאָהba/Acameמִמְּהֵרַתmim/me/he/RATfrom the speedמַסָּעָםmas/sa/AMof their marchלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe menאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusof Antipusבִּהְיוֹתָםbih/yo/TAMbeingנְבוּכִיםne/vu/KHIMconfusedמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofנְפִילַתne/fi/LATthe fallשָׂרֵיהֶםsa/re/HEMof their leadersהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/lubeganלָסוּגla/SUGto give wayאָחוֹרa/CHORbackמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbeforeהַלָּמָנִים׃hal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanites

    For Antipus had fallen by the sword, and many of his leaders, because of their weariness, which was occasioned by the speed of their march—therefore the men of Antipus, being confused because of the fall of their leaders, began to give way before the Lamanites.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהִתְחַזְּקוּhit/chaz/ze/KUtook courageהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganלִרְדֹּףlir/DOFto pursueאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMthemוְכֵןve/KHENand thusהָיוּha/YUwereהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesרוֹדְפִיםrod/FIMpursuingאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMthemבְּכֹחַbe/KHO/achwith vigorגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenבָּאbacameהֵילָמָןHE/la/manHelamanעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themמֵאָחוֹרme/a/CHORfrom the rearעִם־אַלְפָּיוim-al/PAYVwith his two thousandוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganלְהַכּוֹתָםle/hak/ko/TAMto smite themמַכָּהmak/KAwith a slaughterרַבָּהrab/BAgreatמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatעָמַדa/MADhaltedכׇּל־צְבָאkol-tse/VAthe whole armyהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesוַיִּפְנוּvay/yif/NUand turnedאֶל־הֵילָמָן׃el-HE/la/manupon Helaman

    And it came to pass that the Lamanites took courage, and began to pursue them; and thus were the Lamanites pursuing them with great vigor when Helaman came upon their rear with his two thousand, and began to slay them exceedingly, insomuch that the whole army of the Lamanites halted and turned upon Helaman.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּרְאוֹתkir/OTwhen sawעַםamthe peopleאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusof Antipusכִּיkithatסָבְבוּsa/ve/VUturned aroundהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesוַיִּתְקַבְּצוּvay/yit/kab/be/TSUthey gathered togetherאַנְשֵׁיהֶםan/she/HEMtheir menוַיָּשׁוּבוּvay/ya/SHU/vuand came againעַל־אֲחוֹרֵיal-a/cho/REupon the rearהַלָּמָנִים׃hal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanites

    Now when the people of Antipus saw that the Lamanites had turned them about, they gathered together their men and came again upon the rear of the Lamanites.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweעַם־נֶפִיam-NE/fithe people of Nephiוְעַםve/AMand the peopleאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusof Antipusוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iעִם־אַלְפַּיim-al/PAYwith my two thousandהִקַּפְנוּhik/kaf/NUsurroundedאֶת־הַלָּמָנִיםet-Hal/la/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesוַנַּכֵּםvan/nak/KEMand we smote themאַףafyeaעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatאֻלְּצוּul/le/TSUthey were compelledלָתֵתla/TETto deliver upאֶת־כְּלֵיet-ke/LEthe weaponsמִלְחַמְתָּםmil/cham/TAMof their warוְגַםve/GAMand alsoאֶת־נַפְשָׁםet-naf/SHAMthemselvesכִּשְׁבוּיֵיkish/vu/YEas prisonersמִלְחָמָה׃mil/cha/MAof war

    And now it came to pass that we, the people of Nephi, the people of Antipus, and I with my two thousand, did surround the Lamanites, and did slay them; yea, insomuch that they were compelled to deliver up their weapons of war and also themselves as prisoners of war.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenנָתְנוּna/te/NUthey gave upאֶת־נַפְשָׁםet-naf/SHAMthemselvesבְּיָדֵינוּbe/ya/DE/nuinto our handsוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdסָפַרְתִּיsa/far/TII numberedאֶת־הַנְּעָרִיםet-han/ne/a/RIMthe young menאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנִלְחֲמוּnil/cha/MUfoughtעִמִּיim/MIwith meכִּיkiforיָרֵאתִיya/RE/tiI fearedפֶּן־נָפְלוּpen-na/fe/LUlest fellרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמֵהֶם׃me/HEMof them

    And now it came to pass that when they had surrendered themselves up unto us, behold, I numbered those young men who had fought with me, fearing lest there were many of them slain.

56. 56

    אַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלְשִׂמְחָתִיle/sim/cha/TIto my joyהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAthe greatלֹאlonotנָפַלna/FALfellאֶחָדe/CHADoneמֵהֶםme/HEMof themאַרְצָהAR/tsato the earthאַףafyeaנִלְחֲמוּnil/cha/MUthey foughtכִּבְכֹחַkiv/KHO/achas if with the strengthאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godאַףafyeaמֵעוֹלָםme/o/LAMeverלֹאlonotנוֹדְעוּnod/Uwere knownאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנִלְחֲמוּnil/cha/MUfoughtבְּכֹחַbe/KHO/achwith strengthנִפְלָאnif/LAwonderfulכָּזֶהka/ZEsuchוּבְכֹחַu/ve/KHO/achand with powerעָצוּםa/TSUMmightyכָּזֶהka/ZEsuchנָפְלוּna/fe/LUdid they fallעַל־הַלָּמָנִיםal-Hal/la/ma/NIMupon the Lamanitesעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatהִפְחִידוּםhif/chi/DUMthey frightened themוּבַעֲבוּרu/va/a/VURand becauseזֹאתzotof thisנָתְנוּna/te/NUdelivered upהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesאֶת־נַפְשָׁםet-naf/SHAMthemselvesכִּשְׁבוּיֵיkish/vu/YEas prisonersמִלְחָמָה׃mil/cha/MAof war

    But behold, to my great joy, there had not one soul of them fallen to the earth; yea, and they had fought as if with the strength of God; yea, never were men known to have fought with such miraculous strength; and with such mighty power did they fall upon the Lamanites, that they did frighten them; and for this cause did the Lamanites deliver themselves up as prisoners of war.

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand asלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAthere was notלָנוּLA/nuunto usמָקוֹםma/KOMa placeלִשְׁבוּיֵינוּlish/vu/ye/NUfor our prisonersלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto guardעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMthemוּלְהַצִּילָםu/le/hats/tsi/LAMand keep themמִצִּבְאוֹתmits/tsiv/OTfrom the armiesהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeשְׁלַחְנוּםshe/lach/NUMwe sent themאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsto the landזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaוְעִמָּםve/im/MAMand with themחֵלֶקCHE/leka partמֵאַנְשֵׁיme/an/SHEof the menאַנְטִיפּוּסAN/ti/pusof Antipusאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹאlonotנֶהֶרְגוּne/her/GUwere slainוְאֶת־הַנּוֹתָרִיםve/ET-han/no/ta/RIMand the remainderלָקַחְתִּיla/KACH/tiI tookוָאֶסְפְּחֵםva/es/pe/CHEMand joined themאֶל־בְּנֵיel-be/NEto the sonsהָעַמּוֹנִיםha/Am/mo/NIMof the Ammonitesהַצְּעִירִיםhats/tse/i/RIMthe striplingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereלִיlimineוַנִּשָּׂאvan/nis/SAand tookמַסָּעֵנוּmas/sa/e/NUour marchאֶל־עִירel-irto the cityיְהוּדָה׃Ye/hu/DAof Judea

    And as we had no place for our prisoners, that we could guard them to keep them from the armies of the Lamanites, therefore we sent them to the land of Zarahemla, and a part of those men who were not slain of Antipus, with them; and the remainder I took and joined them to my stripling Ammonites, and took our march back to the city of Judea.
