   And now it came to pass in the seventy and second year of the reign of the judges that the contentions did increase, insomuch that there were wars throughout all the land among all the people of Nephi.

   And it was this secret band of robbers who did carry on this work of destruction and wickedness. And this war did last all that year; and in the seventy and third year it did also last.

   And it came to pass that in this year Nephi did cry unto the Lord, saying:

   אָנָּאan/NAOיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאַל־נָאal-nado notתִתֵּןtit/TENsufferלָעָםla/AMthat the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְהִשָּׁמֵדle/hish/sha/MEDshall be destroyedבֶּחָרֶבbe/CHA/revby the swordכִּי־אִםki-imbut ratherיְהִי־נָאye/HI-nalet there beרָעָבra/AVa famineבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landלְעוֹרְרָםle/or/RAMto stir them upלִזְכֹּרliz/KORin remembranceאֶת־יְהוָהet-Adonaiof Adonaiאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMtheir Godוְאוּלַיve/u/LAYand perhapsיָשׁוּבוּya/SHU/vuthey will repentוְיִפְנוּve/yif/NUand turnאֵלֶיךָ׃e/LE/khaunto you

   O Lord, do not suffer that this people shall be destroyed by the sword; but O Lord, rather let there be a famine in the land, to stir them up in remembrance of the Lord their God, and perhaps they will repent and turn unto thee.

   And so it was done, according to the words of Nephi. And there was a great famine upon the land, among all the people of Nephi. And thus in the seventy and fourth year the famine did continue, and the work of destruction did cease by the sword but became sore by famine.

   And this work of destruction did also continue in the seventy and fifth year. For the earth was smitten that it was dry, and did not yield forth grain in the season of grain; and the whole earth was smitten, even among the Lamanites as well as among the Nephites, so that they were smitten that they did perish by thousands in the more wicked parts of the land.

   And it came to pass that the people saw that they were about to perish by famine, and they began to remember the Lord their God; and they began to remember the words of Nephi.

   And the people began to plead with their chief judges and their leaders, that they would say unto Nephi: Behold, we know that thou art a man of God, and therefore cry unto the Lord our God that he turn away from us this famine, lest all the words which thou hast spoken concerning our destruction be fulfilled.

   וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidהַשֹּׁפְטִיםhash/shof/TIMthe judgesאֶל־נֶפִיel-NE/fiunto Nephiכַּדְּבָרִיםkad/de/va/RIMaccording to the wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבִּקְּשׁוּbik/ke/SHUthey desiredוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenרָאָהra/AsawנֶפִיNE/fiNephiכִּיkithatשָׁבוּSHA/vurepentedהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיִּתְעַנּוּvay/yit/an/NUand humbled themselvesבַּשַּׂקִּיםbas/sak/KIMin sackclothוַיִּזְעַקvay/yiz/AKhe criedשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainאֶל־יְהוָהel-Adonaiunto Adonaiלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   And it came to pass that the judges did say unto Nephi, according to the words which had been desired. And it came to pass that when Nephi saw that the people had repented and did humble themselves in sackcloth, he cried again unto the Lord, saying:

    אָנָּאan/NAOיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשָׁבshavrepentsהָעָם־הַזֶּהha/AM-haz/ZEthis peopleוַיְבַעֲרוּvay/va/a/RUand they swept awayאֶת־גְּדוּדet-ge/DUDthe bandגָּדִיאַנְטוֹןGa/di/AN/tonof Gadiantonמִקִּרְבָּםmik/kir/BAMfrom amongst themעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatאָבְדוּa/ve/DUthey became extinctוַיַּטְמִינוּvay/yat/mi/NUand they concealedאֶת־מְזִמּוֹתet-me/zim/MOTtheir plansסִתְרָםsit/RAMsecretבָּאֲדָמָה׃ba/a/da/MAin the earth

    O Lord, behold this people repenteth; and they have swept away the band of Gadianton from amongst them insomuch that they have become extinct, and they have concealed their secret plans in the earth.

11. 11

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowיְהוָהAdonaiO Adonaiהֲבַעֲבוּרha/va/a/VURbecause ofעַנְוָתָםan/va/TAMtheir humilityזֹאתzotthisתָּשִׁיבta/SHIVwill you turn awayאֶת־חֲרוֹןet-cha/RONthe fiercenessאַפְּךָap/pe/KHAof your angerוְיָשֹׁךְve/ya/SHOKHand let be appeasedאַפְּךָap/pe/KHAyour angerבְּהַשְׁחָתַתbe/hash/cha/TATin the destructionהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMof the menהָרְשָׁעִיםha/re/sha/IMthe wickedהָהֵםha/HEMthoseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomכְּבָרke/VARalreadyהִשְׁמַדְתָּ׃hish/mad/TAyou have destroyed

    Now, O Lord, because of this their humility wilt thou turn away thine anger, and let thine anger be appeased in the destruction of those wicked men whom thou hast already destroyed.

12. 12

    אָנָּאan/NAOיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiהָשֵׁבha/SHEVwill you turn awayנָאnawe prayאֶת־אַפְּךָet-ap/pe/KHAyour angerאַףafyeaחֲרוֹןcha/RONyour fierceאַפְּךָap/pe/KHAangerוְתַשְׁבִּיתve/tash/BITand cause that may ceaseאֶת־הָרָעָבet-ha/ra/AVthe famineהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

    O Lord, wilt thou turn away thine anger, yea, thy fierce anger, and cause that this famine may cease in this land.

13. 13

    אָנָּאan/NAOיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiהַקְשֵׁב־נָאhak/SHEV-nawill you hearkenלִיliunto meוַעֲשֵׂהva/a/SEand cause that it may be doneכִּדְבָרַיkid/va/RAYaccording to my wordsוְהוֹרֵדve/ho/REDand send forthמָטָרma/TARrainעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the faceהָאֲדָמָהha/a/da/MAof the earthלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתִּתֵּןtit/TENshe may bring forthפִּרְיָהּpir/YAher fruitוּדְגָנָהּu/de/ga/NAand her grainבְּעֵתbe/ETin the seasonהַדָּגָן׃had/da/GANof the grain

    O Lord, wilt thou hearken unto me, and cause that it may be done according to my words, and send forth rain upon the face of the earth, that she may bring forth her fruit, and her grain in the season of grain.

    יְהוָהAdonaiO Adonaiהִקְשַׁבְתָּhik/SHAV/tayou hearkenedלִדְבָרַיlid/va/RAYunto my wordsבְּאׇמְרִיbe/om/RIwhen I saidיְהִיye/HIlet there beרָעָבra/AVa famineלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתִּשְׁבֹּתtish/BOTmight ceaseמַגֵּפַתmag/ge/FATthe pestilenceהַחֶרֶבha/CHE/revof the swordוְיָדַעְתִּיve/ya/DA/tiand I knowכִּיkithatגַם־בָּעֵתgam-ba/ETeven at the timeהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisתַּקְשִׁיבtak/SHIVyou will hearkenלִדְבָרַיlid/va/RAYunto my wordsכִּיkiforאָמַרְתָּa/MAR/tayou saidאִם־יָשׁוּבim-ya/SHUVif repentהָעָם־הַזֶּהha/AM-haz/ZEthis peopleוְחַסְתִּיve/chas/TII will spareעֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMthem

    O Lord, thou didst hearken unto my words when I said, Let there be a famine, that the pestilence of the sword might cease; and I know that thou wilt, even at this time, hearken unto my words, for thou saidst that: If this people repent I will spare them.

15. 15

    הֵןhenyeaיְהוָהAdonaiO Adonaiוְהִנְּךָve/hin/ne/KHAand youרֹאֶהro/EseeכִּיkithatשָׁבוּSHA/vuthey repentedמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofהָרָעָבha/ra/AVthe famineוְהַדֶּבֶרve/had/DE/verand the pestilenceוְהַהַשְׁחָתָהve/ha/hash/cha/TAand the destructionאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּאָהba/Acameעֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMunto them

    Yea, O Lord, and thou seest that they have repented, because of the famine and the pestilence and destruction which has come unto them.

16. 16

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowיְהוָהAdonaiO Adonaiהֲתָשִׁיבha/ta/SHIVwill you turn awayחֲרוֹןcha/RONthe fiercenessאַפְּךָap/pe/KHAof your angerוּתְנַסֶּהu/te/nas/SEand tryשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainאִם־יַעַבְדוּךָim-ya/av/DU/khaif they will serve youוְאִם־כֵּןve/IM-kenand if soיְהוָהAdonaiO Adonaiתּוּכַלtu/KHALyou canלְבָרְכָםle/va/re/KHAMbless themכִּדְבָרֶיךָkid/va/RE/khaaccording to your wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבַּרְתָּ׃dib/BAR/tayou have said

    And now, O Lord, wilt thou turn away thine anger, and try again if they will serve thee? And if so, O Lord, thou canst bless them according to thy words which thou hast said.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasבִּשְׁנַתbish/NATin the yearשִׁבְעִיםshiv/IMof the seventyוָשֵׁשׁva/SHESHand sixthוַיָּשֶׁבvay/YA/shevturned awayיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֶת־חֲרוֹןet-cha/RONthe fiercenessאַפּוֹap/POof his angerמֵעַלme/ALfromהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיּוֹרֶדvay/YO/redand caused that should fallמָטָרma/TARrainעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsupon the earthעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatנָתְנָהna/te/NAit brought forthפִּרְיָהּpir/YAher fruitבְּעֵתbe/ETin the seasonהַפְּרִיhap/pe/RIof the fruitוַתִּתֵּןvat/tit/TENand it brought forthדְּגָנָהּde/ga/NAher grainבְּעֵתbe/ETin the seasonהַדָּגָן׃had/da/GANof the grain

    And it came to pass that in the seventy and sixth year the Lord did turn away his anger from the people, and caused that rain should fall upon the earth, insomuch that it did bring forth her fruit in the season of her fruit. And it came to pass that it did bring forth her grain in the season of her grain.

18. 18

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdשָׂמְחוּsa/me/CHUrejoicedהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיְפָאֲרוּvay/fa/a/RUand glorifyאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִיםet-ha/e/lo/HIMGodוַתִּמָּלֵאvat/tim/ma/LEand was filledכׇל־פְּנֵיkhol-pe/NEthe whole faceהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the landשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAwith rejoicingוְלֹאve/LOand notבִקְשׁוּvik/SHUthey soughtעוֹדodmoreלְהַשְׁמִידle/hash/MIDto destroyאֶת־נֶפִיet-NE/fiNephiכִּי־אִםki-imbutחֲשָׁבוּהוּcha/sha/vu/HUthey esteemed himלְנָבִיאle/na/VIas a prophetגָדוֹלga/DOLgreatוְאִישׁve/ISHand a manאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof GodבַּעַלBA/alhavingכֹּחַKO/achpowerוְשִׁלְטוֹןve/shil/TONand authorityגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatנִתַּן־לוֹnit/TAN-logiven himמֵאֵתme/ETfromאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    And behold, the people did rejoice and glorify God, and the whole face of the land was filled with rejoicing; and they did no more seek to destroy Nephi, but they did esteem him as a great prophet, and a man of God, having great power and authority given unto him from God.

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdלֶחִיLE/chiLehiאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherלֹאlonotנָפַלna/FALwas behindמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuhimמְאוּמָהme/U/maa whitבְּכׇל־דִּבְרֵיbe/KHOL-div/REas to all things pertaining toהַצֶּדֶק׃hats/TSE/dekrighteousness

    And behold, Lehi, his brother, was not a whit behind him as to things pertaining to righteousness.

20. 20

    וְכֵןve/KHENand thusהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganעַם־נֶפִיam-NE/fithe people of Nephiלִצְלֹחַlits/LO/achto prosperשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganלִבְנוֹתliv/NOTto build upאֶת־חׇרְבוֹתֵיהֶםet-chor/vo/te/HEMtheir waste placesוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganלִרְבּוֹתlir/BOTto multiplyוְלִפְרוֹץve/lif/ROTSand to spreadעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatכִסּוּkhis/SUthey coveredאֶת־כׇּל־פְּנֵיet-kol-pe/NEthe whole faceהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the landמִצָּפוֹןmits/tsa/FONfrom the northוְעַד־דָּרוֹםve/AD-da/ROMand unto the southמִיַּםmiy/YAMfrom the seaהַמַּעֲרָבham/ma/a/RAVwestוְעַד־יַםve/AD-yamto the seaהַמִּזְרָח׃ham/miz/RACHeast

    And thus it did come to pass that the people of Nephi began to prosper again in the land, and began to build up their waste places, and began to multiply and spread, even until they did cover the whole face of the land, both on the northward and on the southward, from the sea west to the sea east.

    And it came to pass that the seventy and sixth year did end in peace. And the seventy and seventh year began in peace; and the church did spread throughout the face of all the land; and the more part of the people, both the Nephites and the Lamanites, did belong to the church; and they did have exceedingly great peace in the land; and thus ended the seventy and seventh year.

    וְגַם־שָׁלוֹםve/GAM-sha/LOMand also peaceהָיָהha/YAthere wasלָהֶםla/HEMto themבִּשְׁנַתbish/NATin the yearשִׁבְעִיםshiv/IMof the seventyוּשְׁמֹנֶהu/she/mo/NEand eighthזוּלַתzu/LATsaveמְרִיבוֹתme/ri/VOTcontentionsמְעַטּוֹתme/at/TOTa fewעַל־דִּבְרֵיal-div/REconcerning the pointsהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAof doctrineאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהוּשְׂמוּhus/MUhad been laid downבְּיַדbe/YADby the handהַנְּבִיאִים׃han/ne/vi/IMof the prophets

    And also they had peace in the seventy and eighth year, save it were a few contentions concerning the points of doctrine which had been laid down by the prophets.

    And in the seventy and ninth year there began to be much strife. But it came to pass that Nephi and Lehi, and many of their brethren who knew concerning the true points of doctrine, having many revelations daily, therefore they did preach unto the people, insomuch that they did put an end to their strife in that same year.

    And it came to pass that in the eightieth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi, there were a certain number of the dissenters from the people of Nephi, who had some years before gone over unto the Lamanites, and taken upon themselves the name of Lamanites, and also a certain number who were real descendants of the Lamanites, being stirred up to anger by them, or by those dissenters, therefore they commenced a war with their brethren.

    וַיִּרְצְחוּvay/yir/tse/CHUand they committed murderוַיָּבֹזּוּvay/ya/VOZ/zuand plunderוְאַחַרve/a/CHARand thenיָסוֹגוּya/so/GUthey would retreat backאֶל־הֶהָרִיםel-he/ha/RIMinto the mountainsוְאֶל־הַמִּדְבָּרve/EL-ham/mid/BARand into the wildernessוְאֶל־מְקוֹמוֹתve/EL-me/ko/MOTand placesהַסֵּתֶרhas/SE/terof secretוַיִּתְחַבְּאוּvay/yit/chab/be/Uhiding themselvesלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notיִמָּצְאוּyim/ma/tse/Uthey could be discoveredוַיִּרְבּוּvay/yir/BUand increasingיוֹםyomdayיוֹםyomby dayבַּסּוֹרְרִיםbas/sor/RIMby the dissentersהַהֹלְכִיםha/hol/KHIMthat went forthאֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMunto them

    And they did commit murder and plunder; and then they would retreat back into the mountains, and into the wilderness and secret places, hiding themselves that they could not be discovered, receiving daily an addition to their numbers, inasmuch as there were dissenters that went forth unto them.

26. 26

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand thusלִתְקוּפַתlit/ku/FATin the courseהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMof timeאַףafyeaבְּמִסְפַּרbe/mis/PARin the numberשָׁנִיםsha/NIMof yearsמְעַטּוֹתme/at/TOTfewוַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUthey becameלִגְדוּדlig/DUDa bandשׁוֹדְדִיםshod/DIMof robbersגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyוַיְבַקְּשׁוּvay/vak/ke/SHUand they searched outאֶת־כׇּל־מְזִמּוֹתet-kol-me/zim/MOTall the plansסֵתֶרSE/terof secretגָּדִיאַנְטוֹןGa/di/AN/tonGadiantonוַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand thus they becameלְשׁוֹדְדֵיle/SHOD/derobbersגָּדִיאַנְטוֹן׃Ga/di/AN/tonof Gadianton

    And thus in time, yea, even in the space of not many years, they became an exceedingly great band of robbers; and they did search out all the secret plans of Gadianton; and thus they became robbers of Gadianton.

27. 27

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַשּׁוֹדְדִיםhash/shod/DIMthe robbersהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseעָשׂוּa/SUmadeשַׁמָּהsham/MAhavocגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatאַףafyeaהֶרֶסHE/resdestructionרַבravgreatבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revamongעַם־נֶפִיam-NE/fithe people of Nephiוְגַםve/GAMand alsoבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revamongעַםamthe peopleהַלָּמָנִים׃hal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanites

    Now behold, these robbers did make great havoc, yea, even great destruction among the people of Nephi, and also among the people of the Lamanites.

28. 28

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatנָכוֹןna/KHONexpedientהָיָהha/YAit wasלְהַשְׁבִּיתle/hash/BITthat there should be a stop put toאֶת־מְלֶאכֶתet-me/LE/khetthe workהַהֶרֶסha/HE/resof destructionהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUand they sentצְבָאtse/VAan armyגִּבּוֹרִיםgib/bo/RIMof strong menאֶל־הַמִּדְבָּרel-ham/mid/BARinto the wildernessוְעַל־הֶהָרִיםve/AL-he/ha/RIMand upon the mountainsלְבַקֵּשׁle/vak/KESHto search outאֶת־גְּדוּדet-ge/DUDthe bandהַשּׁוֹדְדִיםhash/shod/DIMof robbersהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוּלְהַשְׁמִידָם׃u/le/hash/mi/DAMand to destroy them

    And it came to pass that it was expedient that there should be a stop put to this work of destruction; therefore they sent an army of strong men into the wilderness and upon the mountains to search out this band of robbers, and to destroy them.

29. 29

    אַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבַּשָּׁנָהbash/sha/NAin the yearהַהִיאha/HIthatנִדְּחוּnid/de/CHUthey were driven backאֶל־אַרְצוֹתֵיהֶםel-ar/tso/te/HEMeven into their own landsוַתִּתֹּםvat/tit/TOMand thus endedשְׁנַתshe/NATthe yearשְׁמוֹנִיםshe/mo/NIMof the eightiethלִמְשֹׁלlim/SHOLof the reignהַשֹּׁפְטִיםhash/shof/TIMof the judgesעַל־עַםal-amover the peopleנֶפִי׃NE/fiof Nephi

    But behold, it came to pass that in that same year they were driven back even into their own lands. And thus ended the eightieth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasבִּתְחִלַּתbit/chil/LATin the commencementשְׁנַתshe/NATof the yearשְׁמוֹנִיםshe/mo/NIMof the eightyוְאַחַתve/a/CHATand firstוַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uthey went forthשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainעַל־גְּדוּדal-ge/DUDagainst the bandהַשּׁוֹדְדִיםhash/shod/DIMof robbersהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַיַּשְׁמִידוּvay/yash/MI/duand destroyedרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוְגַם־הֵםve/GAM-hemand they alsoהֻכּוּhuk/KUwere visitedמַכָּהmak/KAwith destructionרַבָּה׃rab/BAmuch

    And it came to pass in the commencement of the eighty and first year they did go forth again against this band of robbers, and did destroy many; and they were also visited with much destruction.

31. 31

    וַיְאֻלְּצוּvay/ul/le/TSUand they were obligedלָשׁוּבla/SHUVto returnשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainמִן־הַמִּדְבָּרmin-ham/mid/BARfrom the wildernessוּמִן־הֶהָרִיםu/MIN-he/ha/RIMand from the mountainsאֶל־אַרְצוֹתֵיהֶםel-ar/tso/te/HEMunto their own landsמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofרֹבrovthe greatness of the numbersהַשּׁוֹדְדִיםhash/shod/DIMof the robbersהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichמָלְאוּma/le/Uinfestedאֶת־הֶהָרִיםet-he/ha/RIMthe mountainsוְהַמִּדְבָּר׃ve/ham/mid/BARand the wilderness

    And they were again obliged to return out of the wilderness and out of the mountains unto their own lands, because of the exceeding greatness of the numbers of those robbers who infested the mountains and the wilderness.

32. 32

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatתַּמָּהtam/MAthus endedהַשָּׁנָהhash/sha/NAthe yearהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוְהַשּׁוֹדְדִיםve/hash/shod/DIMand the robbersעוֹדodstillרָבוּra/VUincreasedוַיֶּחֶזְקוּvay/ye/chez/KUand wax strongעַד־כִּיad-kiinsomuch thatהֵעֵזּוּhe/ez/ZUthey did defyבִּפְנֵיbif/NEbeforeכׇּל־צִבְאוֹתkol-tsiv/OTthe whole armiesהַנֶּפִיִּיםhan/Ne/fiy/YIMof the Nephitesוְגַם־הַלָּמָנִיםve/GAM-hal/la/ma/NIMand also the Lamanitesוַיַּפִּילוּvay/yap/PI/luand they caused to comeפַחַדFA/chadfearגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatעַל־הָעָםal-ha/AMunto the peopleבְּכׇל־פְּנֵיbe/KHOL-pe/NEupon all the faceהָאָרֶץ׃ha/A/retsof the land

    And it came to pass that thus ended this year. And the robbers did still increase and wax strong, insomuch that they did defy the whole armies of the Nephites, and also of the Lamanites; and they did cause great fear to come unto the people upon all the face of the land.

33. 33

    הֵןhenyeaבָּאוּBA/uthey visitedבִּמְקוֹמוֹתbim/ko/MOTin partsרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsof the landוַיַּעֲשׂוּvay/ya/a/SUand didבָהֶםva/HEMunto themהֶרֶסHE/resdestructionרַבravgreatאַףafyeaהָרְגוּha/re/GUkilledרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוַיִּשְׁבּוּvay/yish/BUand carried away captiveאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMothersהַמִּדְבָּרָהham/mid/BA/rainto the wildernessוְאַף־כִּיve/AF-kiyea and more especiallyנְשֵׁיהֶםne/she/HEMtheir womenוְטַפָּם׃ve/tap/PAMand their children

    Yea, for they did visit many parts of the land, and did do great destruction unto them; yea, did kill many, and did carry away others captive into the wilderness, yea, and more especially their women and their children.

34. 34

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe evilהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAthe greatהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּאָהba/Acameעַל־הָעָםal-ha/AMunto the peopleבַּעֲוֹנָםba/a/vo/NAMbecause of their iniquityעוֹרְרָהor/RAstirred upאוֹתָםo/TAMthemשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainלִזְכֹּרliz/KORin remembranceאֶת־יְהוָהet-Adonaiof Adonaiאֱלֹהֵיהֶם׃e/lo/he/HEMtheir God

    Now this great evil, which came unto the people because of their iniquity, did stir them up again in remembrance of the Lord their God.

35. 35

    וַתִּתֹּםvat/tit/TOMand thus endedשְׁנַתshe/NATthe yearשְׁמוֹנִיםshe/mo/NIMof the eightyוְאַחַתve/a/CHATand firstלִמְשֹׁלlim/SHOLof the reignהַשֹּׁפְטִים׃hash/shof/TIMof the judges

    And thus ended the eighty and first year of the reign of the judges.

36. 36

    וּבִשְׁנַתu/vish/NATand in the yearשְׁמוֹנִיםshe/mo/NIMof the eightyוּשְׁתַּיִםush/TA/yimand secondהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/luthey beganשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainלִשְׁכֹּחַlish/KO/achto forgetאֶת־יְהוָהet-AdonaiAdonaiאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMtheir Godוּבִשְׁנַתu/vish/NATand in the yearשְׁמוֹנִיםshe/mo/NIMof the eightyוְשָׁלֹשׁve/sha/LOSHand thirdהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/luthey beganלַחֲזֹקla/cha/ZOKto wax strongבְּעָוֹןbe/a/VONin iniquityוּבִשְׁנַתu/vish/NATand in the yearשְׁמוֹנִיםshe/mo/NIMof the eightyוְאַרְבַּעve/ar/BAand fourthלֹאlonotהֵיטִיבוּhe/TI/vuthey did mendאֶת־דַּרְכֵיהֶם׃et-dar/khe/HEMtheir ways

    And in the eighty and second year they began again to forget the Lord their God. And in the eighty and third year they began to wax strong in iniquity. And in the eighty and fourth year they did not mend their ways.

37. 37

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasבִּשְׁנַתbish/NATin the yearשְׁמוֹנִיםshe/mo/NIMof the eightyוְחָמֵשׁve/cha/MESHand fifthוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUthey waxedהָלוֹךְha/LOKHstrongerוְחָזֵקve/cha/ZEKand strongerבְּגַאֲוָתָםbe/ga/a/va/TAMin their prideוּבְרִשְׁעָתָםu/ve/rish/a/TAMand in their wickednessוְכֵןve/KHENand thusבָּשְׁלוּba/she/LUthey were ripeningשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainלְהַשְׁחָתָה׃le/hash/cha/TAfor destruction

    And it came to pass in the eighty and fifth year they did wax stronger and stronger in their pride, and in their wickedness; and thus they were ripening again for destruction.

38. 38

    And thus ended the eighty and fifth year.
