   And now, it came to pass that Alma, who had fled from the servants of king Noah, repented of his sins and iniquities, and went about privately among the people, and began to teach the words of Abinadi—

   וַיְלַמֵּדvay/lam/MEDyea he taughtעַל־הַבָּאוֹתal-hab/ba/OTconcerning things to comeוְגַםve/GAMand alsoעַל־תְּחִיַּתal-te/chiy/YATconcerning the resurrectionהַמֵּתִיםham/me/TIMof the deadוּפְדוּתu/fe/DUTand the redemptionהָעָםha/AMof the peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichתָּבוֹאta/VOshould comeבְּכֹחַbe/KHO/achby the powerהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achof Christוְעִנּוּיָיוve/in/nu/YAYVand His sufferingsוּמוֹתוֹu/mo/TOand His deathוּתְקוּמָתוֹu/te/ku/ma/TOand His resurrectionוַעֲלִיָּתוֹva/a/liy/ya/TOand His ascensionהַשָּׁמָיְמָה׃hash/sha/MAY/mainto heaven

   Yea, concerning that which was to come, and also concerning the resurrection of the dead, and the redemption of the people, which was to be brought to pass through the power, and sufferings, and death of Christ, and his resurrection and ascension into heaven.

   וְכֹלve/KHOLand allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאָבוּa/VUwouldלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ahearאֶת־דְּבָרוֹet-de/va/ROhis wordלִמְּדָםlim/me/DAMhe taughtוַיְלַמְּדֵםvay/lam/me/DEMand he taught themבַּסֵּתֶרbas/SE/terprivatelyלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notיִוָּדַעyiv/va/DAit should come to the knowledgeלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhof the kingוְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyהֶאֱמִינוּhe/e/MI/nubelievedבִּדְבָרָיו׃bid/va/RAYVhis words

   And as many as would hear his word he did teach. And he taught them privately, that it might not come to the knowledge of the king. And many did believe his words.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatכׇל־הַמַּאֲמִינִיםkhol-ham/ma/a/mi/NIMall the believersבוֹvoin himהָלְכוּha/le/KHUwent forthאֶל־מָקוֹםel-ma/KOMto a placeהַנִּקְרָאhan/nik/RAwhich was calledמוֹרְמוֹןMOR/monMormonאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichקְרָאוֹke/ra/Onamed itהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingבִּגְבוּלbig/VULbeing in the bordersהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichשָׁרְצוּsha/re/TSUswarmedשָׁםshamthereחַיּוֹתchay/YOTbeastsרָעוֹתra/OTwildלְעִתִּיםle/it/TIMby timesאוֹoorלִזְמַנִּים׃liz/man/NIMat seasons

   And it came to pass that as many as did believe him did go forth to a place which was called Mormon, having received its name from the king, being in the borders of the land having been infested, by times or at seasons, by wild beasts.

   Now, there was in Mormon a fountain of pure water, and Alma resorted thither, there being near the water a thicket of small trees, where he did hide himself in the daytime from the searches of the king.

   And it came to pass that as many as believed him went thither to hear his words.

   And it came to pass after many days there were a goodly number gathered together at the place of Mormon, to hear the words of Alma. Yea, all were gathered together that believed on his word, to hear him. And he did teach them, and did preach unto them repentance, and redemption, and faith on the Lord.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdמֵיmethe watersמוֹרְמוֹןMOR/monof Mormonכִּי־כֵןki-khenfor thusנִקְרָאוּnik/RA/uthey were calledוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאִם־יֵשׁim-yeshif it isאֶת־נַפְשְׁכֶםet-naf/she/KHEMyour souls' desireלָבוֹאla/VOto comeבְּמִכְלְאַתbe/mikh/le/ATinto the foldאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוּלְהִקָּרֵאu/le/hik/ka/REand to be calledעַמּוֹam/MOHis peopleוּלְהִתְנַדֵּבu/le/hit/nad/DEVand are willingלָשֵׂאתla/SETto bearאִישׁishoneאֶת־מַשָּׂאet-mas/SAthe burdensרֵעֵהוּre/E/huof anotherלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיֵקַל׃ye/KALthey may be light

   And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of Mormon (for thus were they called) and now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;

   וּלְהִתְנַדֵּבu/le/hit/nad/DEVand are willingלְהִתְאַבֵּלle/hit/ab/BELto mournעִם־הָאֲבֵלִיםim-ha/a/ve/LIMwith those that mournוּלְנַחֵםu/le/na/CHEMand to comfortאֶת־חַסְרֵיet-chas/REthose that stand in needנִחֻמִיםni/chu/MIMof comfortוְלַעֲמֹדve/la/a/MODand to standלְעֵדֵיle/e/DEas witnessesאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godבְּכׇל־עֵתbe/KHOL-etat all timesוּבְכׇל־דָּבָרu/ve/KHOL-da/VARand in all thingsוּבְכׇל־מָקוֹםu/ve/KHOL-ma/KOMand in all placesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתִּהְיוּtih/YUyou may beבוֹvoin itעַד־מָוֶתad-MA/veteven until deathלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתִּגָּאֲלוּtig/ga/a/LUyou may be redeemedבֵאלֹהִיםve/lo/HIMof Godוְתִמָּנוּve/tim/ma/NUand be numberedעִם־הַקָּמִיםim-hak/ka/MIMwith those who riseבַּתְּקוּמָהbat/te/ku/MAin the resurrectionהָרִאשׁוֹנָהha/ri/sho/NAthe firstוְיִהְיוּve/yih/YUthat there may beלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youחַיֵּי־עוֹלָם׃chay/YE-o/LAMeternal life

   Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection, that ye may have eternal life—

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youאִם־זֶהim-zeif this beחֵפֶץCHE/fetsthe desireלְבַבְכֶםle/vav/KHEMof your heartsמַה־לָּכֶםma-la/KHEMwhat have youכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notתִטָּבְלוּtit/ta/ve/LUyou are baptizedבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the nameיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiלְעֵדוּתle/e/DUTas a witnessלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore Himכִּיkithatבָּאתֶםba/TEMyou entered intoבִּבְרִיתbiv/RITa covenantלְעׇבְדוֹle/ov/DOto serve Himוְלִשְׁמֹרve/lish/MORand to keepמִצְוֹתָיוmits/vo/TAYVHis commandmentsלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִשְׁפֹּךְyish/POKHHe may pour outרוּחוֹRu/CHOHis Spiritעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMupon youבְּיֶתֶרbe/YE/termoreשְׂאֵת׃se/ETabundantly

    Now I say unto you, if this be the desire of your hearts, what have you against being baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness before him that ye have entered into a covenant with him, that ye will serve him and keep his commandments, that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you?

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיִּסְפְּקוּvay/yis/pe/KUand they clappedכַפַּיִםkhap/PA/yimtheir handsמִשִּׂמְחָהmis/sim/CHAfor joyוַיִּקְרְאוּvay/yik/re/Uand cried outזֶהzethis isחֵפֶץCHE/fetsthe desireלְבָבֵנוּ׃le/va/VE/nuof our hearts

    And now when the people had heard these words, they clapped their hands for joy, and exclaimed: This is the desire of our hearts.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatלָקַחla/KACHtookאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאֶת־הֵלָםet-HE/lamHelamוְהוּאve/HUand he wasמִן־הָרִאשֹׁנִיםmin-ha/ri/sho/NIMof the firstוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand went forthוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stood forthבַּמַּיִםbam/MA/yimin the waterוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand criedלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיְהוָהAdonaiO Adonaiשְׁפֹךְ־נָאshe/FOKH-napour outרוּחֲךָRu/cha/KHAYour Spiritעַל־עַבְדְּךָal-av/de/KHAupon Your servantלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doהַמַּעֲשֶׂהham/ma/a/SEthe workהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבִּקְדֻשַּׁתbik/dush/SHATwith the holinessלֵבָב׃le/VAVof heart

    And now it came to pass that Alma took Helam, he being one of the first, and went and stood forth in the water, and cried, saying: O Lord, pour out thy Spirit upon thy servant, that he may do this work with holiness of heart.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכְּכַלּוֹתוֹke/khal/lo/TOwhen he finishedלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIcameעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himרוּחַRU/achthe SpiritיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidהֵלָםHE/lamHelamהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iמַטְבִּילְךָmat/bi/le/KHAbaptize youבְּשִׁלְטוֹןbe/shil/TONby the authorityאֵלelof GodשַׁדַּיShad/DAYAlmightyלְעֵדוּתle/e/DUTas a testimonyכִּיkithatבָּאתָBA/tayou enteredבִּבְרִיתbiv/RITinto a covenantלְעׇבְדוֹle/ov/DOto serve Himעַד־מוֹתad-motuntil the deathגְּוִיָּתְךָge/viy/ya/te/KHAof your bodyהַבָּשָׂרhab/ba/SARmortalוְיִשָּׁפֵךְve/yish/sha/FEKHand may be poured outרוּחַRU/achthe SpiritיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaupon youוְיִתֶּן־לְךָve/yit/TEN-le/KHAand may He grant youחַיֵּי־עוֹלָםchay/YE-o/LAMeternal lifeבִּגְאֻלַּתbig/ul/LATthrough the redemptionהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achof Christאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהֵכִיןhe/KHINHe preparedמִמּוֹסְדוֹתmim/mos/DOTfrom the foundationהָעוֹלָם׃ha/o/LAMof the world

    And when he had said these words, the Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he said: Helam, I baptize thee, having authority from the Almighty God, as a testimony that ye have entered into a covenant to serve him until you are dead as to the mortal body; and may the Spirit of the Lord be poured out upon you; and may he grant unto you eternal life, through the redemption of Christ, whom he has prepared from the foundation of the world.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכְּכַלּוֹתke/khal/LOTwhen finishedאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיִּטְבְּלוּvay/yit/be/LUand immersed themselvesשְׁנֵיהֶםshe/ne/HEMboth of themאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaוְהֵלָםve/HE/lamand Helamבַּמַּיִםbam/MA/yimin the waterוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand they aroseוַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand came forthמִן־הַמַּיִםmin-ham/MA/yimout of the watersשְׂמֵחִיםse/me/CHIMrejoicingמְלֵאֵיme/le/Ebeing filled withרוּחַ׃RU/achthe Spirit

    And after Alma had said these words, both Alma and Helam were buried in the water; and they arose and came forth out of the water rejoicing, being filled with the Spirit.

    וַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHtookאַחֵרa/CHERanotherוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentשֵׁנִיתshe/NITa second timeאֶל־הַמַּיִםel-ham/MA/yiminto the watersוַיַּטְבֵּלvay/yat/BELand baptizedאֹתוֹo/TOhimכָּרִאשׁוֹןka/ri/SHONaccording to the firstרַקrakonlyלֹא־טָבַלlo-ta/VALhe did not immerseעוֹדodagainבַּמָּיִם׃bam/MA/yimin the water

    And again, Alma took another, and went forth a second time into the water, and baptized him according to the first, only he did not bury himself again in the water.

    וְכַמִּשְׁפָּטve/kham/mish/PATand after the mannerהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisהִטְבִּילhit/BILhe baptizedאֶת־כׇּל־הַבָּאִיםet-kol-hab/ba/IMall who cameאֶל־מְקוֹםel-me/KOMto the placeמוֹרְמוֹןMOR/monof Mormonוּמִסְפָּרָםu/mis/pa/RAMand their number wasכְּמָאתַיִםke/ma/TA/yimabout two hundredוְאַרְבַּעve/ar/BAand fourנְפָשׁוֹתne/fa/SHOTsoulsוַיִּטָּבְלוּvay/yit/ta/ve/LUand they were baptizedבְּמֵיbe/MEin the watersמוֹרְמוֹןMOR/monof Mormonוַיִּמָּלְאוּvay/yim/ma/le/Uand were filled withחֶסֶדCHE/sedthe graceאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

    And after this manner he did baptize every one that went forth to the place of Mormon; and they were in number about two hundred and four souls; yea, and they were baptized in the waters of Mormon, and were filled with the grace of God.

    וַיִּקָּרְאוּvay/yik/ka/re/Uand they were calledעֲדַתa/DATchurchאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godאוֹoorעֲדַתa/DATchurchהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achof Christמֵהַיּוֹםme/hay/YOMfrom the timeהַהוּאha/HUthatוָהָלְאָהva/HAL/aforwardוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכׇל־הַנִּטְבָּלkhol-han/nit/BALwhosoever was baptizedבְּכֹחַbe/KHO/achby the powerאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוּבְשִׁלְטוֹנוֹu/ve/shil/to/NOand by His authorityנוֹסַףno/SAFwas addedעַלaluntoעֲדָתוֹ׃a/da/TOHis church

    And they were called the church of God, or the church of Christ, from that time forward. And it came to pass that whosoever was baptized by the power and authority of God was added to his church.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהֵקִיםhe/KIMordainedאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaכֹּהֲנִיםko/ha/NIMpriestsבְּשִׁלְטוֹןbe/shil/TONby the authorityאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוַיָּקֶםvay/YA/kemand he ordainedכֹּהֵןko/HENa priestאֶחָדe/CHADoneלְכׇל־חֲמִשִּׁיםle/KHOL-cha/mish/SHIMto every fiftyמִמִּסְפָּרָםmim/mis/pa/RAMof their numberלִקְרֹאlik/ROto preachלָהֶםla/HEMunto themוּלְלַמְּדָםu/le/lam/me/DAMand to teach themאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe wordsמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTof the kingdomהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMof God

    And it came to pass that Alma, having authority from God, ordained priests; even one priest to every fifty of their number did he ordain to preach unto them, and to teach them concerning the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

    וַיְצַוֵּםvay/tsav/VEMand he commanded themלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInot toלַמֵּדlam/MEDteachדָּבָרda/VARanythingזוּלַתzu/LATsave it wereהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe thingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלִמְּדָםlim/me/DAMhe taughtוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whichנֶאֶמְרוּne/em/RUhad been spokenבְּפִיbe/FIby the mouthנְבִיאֵיne/vi/Eof the prophetsהַקֹּדֶשׁ׃hak/KO/deshof holiness

    And he commanded them that they should teach nothing save it were the things which he had taught, and which had been spoken by the mouth of the holy prophets.

    וַיְצַוֵּםvay/tsav/VEMand he commanded themלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInot toלִקְרֹאlik/ROpreachכִּי־אִםki-imsave it wereלִתְשׁוּבָהlit/shu/VArepentanceוֶאֱמוּנָהve/e/mu/NAand faithבַּיהוָהba-Adonaion Adonaiאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoגָּאַלga/ALredeemedאֶת־עַמּוֹ׃et-am/MOHis people

    Yea, even he commanded them that they should preach nothing save it were repentance and faith on the Lord, who had redeemed his people.

    וַיְצַוֵּםvay/tsav/VEMand he commanded themלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notהֱיוֹתhe/YOTthere beרִיבrivcontentionאִישׁishoneבְּרֵעֵהוּbe/re/E/huwith anotherכִּי־אִםki-imbutיַבִּיטוּyab/BI/tuthey should lookלְפָנִיםle/fa/NIMforwardבְּעַיִןbe/A/yinwith an eyeאַחַתa/CHAToneבֶּאֱמוּנָהbe/e/mu/NAin faithאַחַתa/CHAToneוּבִטְבִילָהu/vit/vi/LAand in baptismאַחַתa/CHAToneוְלִבָּםve/lib/BAMand their heartsאָחוּזa/CHUZknitיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherבְּיַחַדbe/YA/chadin unityוּבְאַהֲבָהu/ve/a/ha/VAand in loveאִישׁishoneאֶל־רֵעֵהוּ׃el-re/E/huto another

    And he commanded them that there should be no contention one with another, but that they should look forward with one eye, having one faith and one baptism, having their hearts knit together in unity and in love one towards another.

    וְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusצִוָּהtsiv/VAhe commandedאוֹתָםo/TAMthemלִקְרֹאlik/ROto preachוַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand they wereלִבְנֵיliv/NEthe childrenאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

    And thus he commanded them to preach. And thus they became the children of God.

    וַיְצַוֵּםvay/tsav/VEMand he commanded themלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto keepאֶת־יוֹםet-yomthe dayהַשַּׁבָּתhash/shab/BATof the sabbathוּלְקַדְּשׁוֹu/le/kad/de/SHOand to keep it holyוְגַםve/GAMand alsoבְּכׇל־יוֹםbe/KHOL-yomevery dayלְהֹדוֹתle/ho/DOTto give thanksלַיהוָהla-Adonaiunto Adonaiאֱלֹהֵיהֶם׃e/lo/he/HEMtheir God

    And he commanded them that they should observe the sabbath day, and keep it holy, and also every day they should give thanks to the Lord their God.

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he commandedגַּםgamalsoאֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִיםet-hak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהֵקִיםhe/KIMhe ordainedלַעֲבֹדla/a/VODto laborבִּידֵיהֶםbi/de/HEMwith their own handsלְמִחְיָתָם׃le/mich/ya/TAMfor their support

    And he also commanded them that the priests whom he had ordained should labor with their own hands for their support.

25. 25

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand there wasיוֹםyoma dayאֶחָדe/CHADoneבְּכׇל־שָׁבוּעַbe/KHOL-sha/VU/ain every weekמֻבְדָּלmuv/DALset apartלְהִקָּהֵלle/hik/ka/HELto assembleוּלְלַמֵּדu/le/lam/MEDto teachאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוְלַעֲבֹדve/la/a/VODand to worshipאֶת־יְהוָהet-AdonaiAdonaiאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMtheir Godוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלְהִקָּהֵלle/hik/ka/HELto gatherיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהָיָהha/YAwasלְאֵלle/ELin the powerיָדָם׃ya/DAMof their hand

    And there was one day in every week that was set apart that they should gather themselves together to teach the people, and to worship the Lord their God, and also, as often as it was in their power, to assemble themselves together.

26. 26

    וְהַכֹּהֲנִיםve/hak/ko/ha/NIMand the priestsלֹא־יִשָּׁעֲנוּlo-yish/sha/a/NUshould not dependעַל־הָעָםal-ha/AMupon the peopleלְמִחְיָתָםle/mich/ya/TAMfor their supportכִּיkibutבַעֲבוּרva/a/VURforעֲבוֹדָתָםa/vo/da/TAMtheir laborיְקַבְּלוּye/kab/be/LUthey should receiveחֶסֶדCHE/sedthe graceאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיֶחֶזְקוּye/chez/KUthey might wax strongבָּרוּחַba/RU/achin the Spiritוְיֵדְעוּve/yed/Uand might knowאֶת־אֱלֹהִיםet-e/lo/HIMGodוְיוֹרוּve/yo/RUand might teachבְּכֹחַbe/KHO/achwith powerוּבְשִׁלְטוֹןu/ve/shil/TONand authorityמֵאֵתme/ETfromאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    And the priests were not to depend upon the people for their support; but for their labor they were to receive the grace of God, that they might wax strong in the Spirit, having the knowledge of God, that they might teach with power and authority from God.

27. 27

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand commandedעוֹדodagainאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאֶת־עַםet-amthe peopleהָעֵדָהha/e/DAof the churchלָתֵתla/TETto giveאִישׁishevery manמֵרְכוּשׁוֹmer/khu/SHOof his substanceכְּפִיke/FIaccording toאֲשֶׁר־לוֹa/SHER-lothat which he hasאִם־רַבim-ravif muchלוֹlounto himיַרְבֶּהyar/BEhe should impart abundantlyוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand he thatמְעַטme/ATlittleלוֹlounto himיַמְעִיטyam/ITlittle should be requiredוְלַאֲשֶׁרve/la/a/SHERand unto him thatאֵין־לוֹen-lohas nothingיִנָּתֵן׃yin/na/TENshall be given

    And again Alma commanded that the people of the church should impart of their substance, every one according to that which he had; if he have more abundantly he should impart more abundantly; and of him that had but little, but little should be required; and to him that had not should be given.

28. 28

    וְכֵןve/KHENand thusיִתְּנוּyit/te/NUthey should impartמֵרְכוּשָׁםmer/khu/SHAMof their substanceבִּנְדָבַתbin/da/VATof the free willלִבָּםlib/BAMof their heartsוּבִרְצוֹנָםu/vir/tso/NAMand their desiresהַטּוֹבhat/TOVgoodלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMtowards Godוְלַכֹּהֲנִיםve/lak/ko/ha/NIMand to the priestsהַנִּצְרָכִיםhan/nits/ra/KHIMthat stood in needוּלְכׇל־נֶפֶשׁu/le/KHOL-NE/feshand to every soulעֲנִיָּהa/niy/YApoorוְעֵירֹמָה׃ve/e/ro/MAand naked

    And thus they should impart of their substance of their own free will and good desires towards God, and to those priests that stood in need, yea, and to every needy, naked soul.

29. 29

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidלָהֶםla/HEMunto themזֹאתzotthisכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּהוּtsiv/VA/hucommanded himאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוַיִּתְהַלְּכוּvay/yit/hal/le/KHUand they walkedבְּיֹשֶׁרbe/YO/sheruprightlyלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand they impartedאִישׁishoneלְרֵעֵהוּle/re/E/huto anotherגַּם־בְּצׇרְכֵיgam-be/tsor/KHEboth in the needsהַגְּוִיָּהhag/ge/viy/YAof the bodyגַּם־בְּצׇרְכֵיgam-be/tsor/KHEand in the needsהָרוּחַha/RU/achof the spiritכְּפִיke/FIaccording toמַחְסוֹרָםmach/so/RAMtheir needsוְחֶפְצָם׃ve/chef/TSAMand their wants

    And this he said unto them, having been commanded of God; and they did walk uprightly before God, imparting to one another both temporally and spiritually according to their needs and their wants.

30. 30

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happened thatכׇל־זֹאתkhol-zotall thisבְּמוֹרְמוֹןbe/MOR/monin Mormonעַל־יַדal-yadby the sideמֵיmeof the watersמוֹרְמוֹןMOR/monof Mormonבַּיַּעַרbay/YA/arin the forestאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאֵצֶלE/tselnearמֵיmethe watersמוֹרְמוֹןMOR/monof Mormonמַה־נָּאווּma-na/VUhow beautifulמְקוֹםme/KOMthe placeמוֹרְמוֹןMOR/monof Mormonוּמֵיu/MEand the watersמוֹרְמוֹןMOR/monof Mormonוְיַעַרve/YA/arand the forestמוֹרְמוֹןMOR/monof Mormonבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyesהַבָּאִיםhab/ba/IMof those who cameשָׁםshamthereלָדַעַתla/DA/atto the knowledgeאֶת־גֹּאֲלָםet-Go/a/LAMof their Redeemerוּמַה־מְאֻשָּׁרִיםu/MA-me/ush/sha/RIMand how blessedהֵםhemare theyכִּיkiforיָשִׁירוּya/SHI/ruthey shall singתְהִלָּתוֹte/hil/la/TOto His praiseלָעַד׃la/ADforever

    And now it came to pass that all this was done in Mormon, yea, by the waters of Mormon, in the forest that was near the waters of Mormon; yea, the place of Mormon, the waters of Mormon, the forest of Mormon, how beautiful are they to the eyes of them who there came to the knowledge of their Redeemer; yea, and how blessed are they, for they shall sing to his praise forever.

31. 31

    וַיַּעֲשׂוּvay/ya/a/SUand they didאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהet-kol-EL/leall these thingsבִּגְבוּלbig/VULin the bordersהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the landלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notיִוָּדַעyiv/va/DAit should come to the knowledgeלַמֶּלֶךְ׃lam/ME/lekhof the king

    And these things were done in the borders of the land, that they might not come to the knowledge of the king.

32. 32

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingרָאָהra/Asawמְהוּמָהme/hu/MAa stirבָּעָםba/AMamong the peopleוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he sentאֶת־עֲבָדָיוet-a/va/DAYVhis servantsלְשׇׁמְרָםle/shom/RAMto watch themעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeבְּיוֹםbe/YOMon the dayהִקָּהֲלָםhik/ka/ha/LAMthat were assembling themselves togetherלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato hearדְּבַר־יְהוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of Adonaiנוֹדְעוּnod/Uthey were discoveredלַמֶּלֶךְ׃lam/ME/lekhunto the king

    But behold, it came to pass that the king, having discovered a movement among the people, sent his servants to watch them. Therefore on the day that they were assembling themselves together to hear the word of the Lord they were discovered unto the king.

33. 33

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingכִּיkithatאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaמֵסִיתme/SITwas stirring upאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleלִמְרֹדlim/RODto rebelבּוֹboagainst himעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeשָׁלַחsha/LACHhe sentאֶת־צְבָאוֹet-tse/va/Ohis armyלְהַשְׁמִידָם׃le/hash/mi/DAMto destroy them

    And now the king said that Alma was stirring up the people to rebellion against him; therefore he sent his army to destroy them.

34. 34

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatנוֹדַעno/DAit became knownלְאַלְמָאle/AL/maunto Almaוּלְעַםu/le/AMand unto the peopleיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiבּוֹאboof the comingצְבָאtse/VAof armyהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhof the kingעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeלָקְחוּla/ke/CHUthey tookאֶת־אׇהֳלֵיהֶםet-o/ho/le/HEMtheir tentsוּמִשְׁפְּחֹתֵיהֶםu/mish/pe/cho/te/HEMand their familiesוַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand departedהַמִּדְבָּרָה׃ham/mid/BA/rainto the wilderness

    And it came to pass that Alma and the people of the Lord were apprised of the coming of the king’s army; therefore they took their tents and their families and departed into the wilderness.

35. 35

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand they wereמִסְפָּרָםmis/pa/RAMin numberכְּאַרְבַּעke/ar/BAabout fourמֵאוֹתme/OThundredוַחֲמִשִּׁיםva/cha/mish/SHIMand fiftyנָפֶשׁ׃NA/feshsouls

    And they were in number about four hundred and fifty souls.
