   And now I, Nephi, do not give the genealogy of my fathers in this part of my record; neither at any time shall I give it after upon these plates which I am writing; for it is given in the record which has been kept by my father; wherefore, I do not write it in this work.

   כִּי־דַיki-dayfor it sufficesלִיlimeלֵאמֹרle/MORto sayכִּיkithatמִזֶּרַעmiz/ZE/raof the seedיוֹסֵףYo/SEFof Josephאֲנָחְנוּ׃a/NACH/nuwe are

   For it sufficeth me to say that we are descendants of Joseph.

   וְלֹאve/LOand notחָפַצְתִּיcha/FATS/tihave I desiredלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto recountכׇּל־דִּבְרֵיkol-div/REall the wordsאָבִיa/VIof my fatherכִּי־לֹאki-lofor notיוּכְלוּyukh/LUcan theyלְהִכָּתֵבle/hik/ka/TEVbe writtenעַל־הַלֻּחֹתal-hal/lu/CHOTupon the platesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseכִּיkiforחָפַצְתִּיcha/FATS/tiI desireבַּמָּקוֹםbam/ma/KOMthe roomלִכְתֹּבlikh/TOVthat I may writeאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe thingsהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMof God

   And it mattereth not to me that I am particular to give a full account of all the things of my father, for they cannot be written upon these plates, for I desire the room that I may write of the things of God.

   כִּיkiforכׇל־חֶפְצִיkhol-chef/TSIall my desireלְהָשִׁיבle/ha/SHIVto persuadeאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe childrenהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof menלָבוֹאla/VOto comeאֶל־אֱלֹהֵיel-e/lo/HEunto the GodאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMof Abrahamוֵאלֹהֵיve/lo/HEand the GodיִצְחָקYits/CHAKof Isaacוֵאלֹהֵיve/lo/HEand the GodיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVof Jacobוּלְהִוָּשֵׁעַ׃u/le/hiv/va/SHE/aand be saved

   For the fulness of mine intent is that I may persuade men to come unto the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, and be saved.

   עַל־כֵּןal-kenwhereforeאֶת־הַטּוֹבet-hat/TOVthat which is goodבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyesהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMof the worldלֹאloI do notאֶכְתֹּבekh/TOVwriteכִּי־אִםki-imbutהַטּוֹבhat/TOVthat which is goodבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyesהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godוּבְעֵינֵיu/ve/e/NEand in the eyes of thoseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹאlonotמִן־הָעוֹלָםmin-ha/o/LAMof the worldהֵמָּה׃HEM/maare they

   Wherefore, the things which are pleasing unto the world I do not write, but the things which are pleasing unto God and unto those who are not of the world.

   עַל־כֵּןal-kenwhereforeאֲצַוֶּהa/tsav/VEI shall give commandmentאֶת־זַרְעִיet-zar/Iunto my seedלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInot toמַלֵּאmal/LEfillאֶת־הַלֻּחֹתet-hal/lu/CHOTthe platesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseבַּדְּבָרִיםbad/de/va/RIMwith thingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאֵין־בָּםen-bamhave in them noחֵפֶץCHE/fetsworthלִבְנֵי־הָאָדָם׃liv/NE-ha/a/DAMunto the children of men

   Wherefore, I shall give commandment unto my seed, that they shall not occupy these plates with things which are not of worth unto the children of men.
