   And now I, Moroni, write a few of the words of my father Mormon, which he spake concerning faith, hope, and charity; for after this manner did he speak unto the people, as he taught them in the synagogue which they had built for the place of worship.

   And now I, Mormon, speak unto you, my beloved brethren; and it is by the grace of God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, and his holy will, because of the gift of his calling unto me, that I am permitted to speak unto you at this time.

   Wherefore, I would speak unto you that are of the church, that are the peaceable followers of Christ, and that have obtained a sufficient hope by which ye can enter into the rest of the Lord, from this time henceforth until ye shall rest with him in heaven.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenאֶשְׁפֹּטesh/POTI shall judgeאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMof youבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofהֲלִיכַתְכֶםha/li/khat/KHEMyour walkבְּשָׁלוֹםbe/sha/LOMin peaceעִם־בְּנֵיim-be/NEwith the childrenהָאָדָם׃ha/a/DAMof men

   And now my brethren, I judge these things of you because of your peaceable walk with the children of men.

   כִּיkiforאֶזְכֹּרez/KORI rememberאֶת־דְּבַר־אֱלֹהִיםet-de/VAR-e/lo/HIMthe word of Godהָאֹמֵרha/o/MERwhich saithבְּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶםbe/ma/a/se/HEMby their worksתֵּדְעוּםted/UMyou shall know themכִּי־אִםki-imfor ifמַעֲשֵׂיהֶםma/a/se/HEMtheir worksטוֹבִיםto/VIMgoodגַּם־הֵםgam-hemalso theyטוֹבִים׃to/VIMgood

   For I remember the word of God which saith by their works ye shall know them; for if their works be good, then they are good also.

   כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָמַרa/MARsaidאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאִישׁisha manרָעraevilלֹא־יוּכַלlo-yu/KHALcannotלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doהַטּוֹבhat/TOVthe goodכִּי־אִםki-imfor ifיַקְרִיבyak/RIVhe shall offerמַתָּנָהmat/ta/NAgiftאוֹoorיִתְפַּלֵּלyit/pal/LELhe shall prayאֶל־אֱלֹהִיםel-e/lo/HIMunto Godבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptאִם־יַעֲשֶׂהim-ya/a/SEif he shall doבְּלֵבbe/LEVwith a heartשָׁלֵםsha/LEMwholeלֹא־יוֹעִילlo-yo/ILit profits notלוֹloto himמְאוּמָה׃me/U/maanything

   For behold, God hath said a man being evil cannot do that which is good; for if he offereth a gift, or prayeth unto God, except he shall do it with real intent it profiteth him nothing.

   For behold, it is not counted unto him for righteousness.

   כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאִם־אִישׁim-ishif any manרָעraevilיִתֵּןyit/TENhe shall giveמַתָּנָהmat/ta/NAgiftוְיַעֲשֶׂנָּהve/ya/a/SEN/nahe does itבְּמֹר־נֶפֶשׁbe/MOR-NE/feshgrudginglyוְלָכֵןve/la/KHENwhereforeיֵחָשֵׁבye/cha/SHEVit is countedלוֹloto himכְּמוֹke/MOas ifהֶחֱזִיקhe/che/ZIKhe retainedבַּמַּתָּנָהbam/mat/ta/NAin the giftוְלָכֵןve/la/KHENwhereforeיֵחָשֵׁבye/cha/SHEVhe is countedרָעraevilלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

   For behold, if a man being evil giveth a gift, he doeth it grudgingly; wherefore it is counted unto him the same as if he had retained the gift; wherefore he is counted evil before God.

   And likewise also is it counted evil unto a man, if he shall pray and not with real intent of heart; yea, and it profiteth him nothing, for God receiveth none such.

    Wherefore, a man being evil cannot do that which is good; neither will he give a good gift.

    For behold, a bitter fountain cannot bring forth good water; neither can a good fountain bring forth bitter water; wherefore, a man being a servant of the devil cannot follow Christ; and if he follow Christ he cannot be a servant of the devil.

    Wherefore, all things which are good cometh of God; and that which is evil cometh of the devil; for the devil is an enemy unto God, and fighteth against him continually, and inviteth and enticeth to sin, and to do that which is evil continually.

    אַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMfrom Godיִקְרָאyik/RAinvitesוִיפַתֶּהvi/fat/TEand enticesלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doהַטּוֹבhat/TOVthe goodתָּמִידta/MIDcontinuallyלָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeכׇּל־דָּבָרkol-da/VARevery thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיִקְרָאyik/RAinvitesוִיפַתֶּהvi/fat/TEand enticesלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doהַטּוֹבhat/TOVthe goodוְלֶאֱהֹבve/le/e/HOVand to loveאֶת־אֱלֹהִיםet-e/lo/HIMGodוּלְעׇבְדוֹu/le/ov/DOand to serve himמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMfrom Godהוּא׃huis

    But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God.

    לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeהִשָּׁמְרוּhish/sha/me/RUtake heedאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenהָאֲהוּבִיםha/a/hu/VIMthe belovedפֶּן־תִּשְׁפְּטוּpen-tish/pe/TUthat you do not judgeאֶת־הָרָעet-ha/RAthe evilלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMfrom Godאוֹoorאֶת־הַטּוֹבet-hat/TOVthe goodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMfrom Godלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beמִן־הַשָּׂטָן׃min-has/sa/TANof the devil

    Wherefore, take heed, my beloved brethren, that ye do not judge that which is evil to be of God, or that which is good and of God to be of the devil.

    כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenנִתַּןnit/TANit is givenלָכֶםla/KHEMyouלִשְׁפֹּטlish/POTto judgeלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatתֵּדְעוּted/Uyou may knowטוֹבtovgoodמֵרָעme/RAfrom evilוְהַדֶּרֶךְve/had/DE/rekhand the wayלִשְׁפֹּטlish/POTto judgeבָּרוּרba/RURis as plainכְּאוֹרke/ORas lightהַיּוֹםhay/YOMof the dayמִן־הַלַּיְלָהmin-hal/LAY/lafrom the nightהֶחָשֵׁךְhe/cha/SHEKHthe darkלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatתֵּדְעוּted/Uyou may knowבְּדַעַתbe/DA/atwith knowledgeתְּמִימָה׃te/mi/MAperfect

    For behold, my brethren, it is given unto you to judge, that ye may know good from evil; and the way to judge is as plain, that ye may know with a perfect knowledge, as the daylight is from the dark night.

    For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that he may know good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of God.

    But whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do evil, and believe not in Christ, and deny him, and serve not God, then ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of the devil; for after this manner doth the devil work, for he persuadeth no man to do good, no, not one; neither do his angels; neither do they who subject themselves unto him.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REseeingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיְדַעְתֶּםye/da/TEMyou knowאֶת־הָאוֹרet-ha/ORthe lightאֲשֶׁר־בּוֹa/SHER-boby whichתִּשְׁפְּטוּtish/pe/TUyou may judgeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהוּאhuisאוֹרorthe lightהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achof Christרְאוּre/Useeפֶּן־תִּשְׁפְּטוּpen-tish/pe/TUthat you do not judgeלְעַוֵּתle/av/VETwrongfullyכִּיkiforבַּמִּשְׁפָּטbam/mish/PATwith the judgmentאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichתִּשְׁפְּטוּtish/pe/TUyou shall judgeגַּם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMyou alsoתִּשָּׁפֵטוּ׃tish/sha/fe/TUshall be judged

    And now, my brethren, seeing that ye know the light by which ye may judge, which light is the light of Christ, see that ye do not judge wrongfully; for with that same judgment which ye judge ye shall also be judged.

    לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeמִתְחַנֵּןmit/chan/NENbeseechאֲנִיa/NIIאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youאַחַיa/CHAYbrethrenלִדְרֹשׁlid/ROSHto searchהֵיטֵבhe/TEVdiligentlyבְּאוֹרbe/ORin the lightהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achof Christלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatתֵּדְעוּted/Uyou may knowטוֹבtovgoodמֵרָעme/RAfrom evilוְאִםve/IMand ifתֹּאחֲזוּto/cha/ZUyou will lay holdבְּכׇל־דָּבָרbe/KHOL-da/VARupon every thingטוֹבtovgoodוְלֹאve/LOand notתַרְשִׁיעוּהוּtar/shi/u/HUcondemn itהָיֹהha/YOsurelyתִהְיוּtih/YUyou shall beבְּנֵיbe/NEa childהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achof Christ

    Wherefore, I beseech of you, brethren, that ye should search diligently in the light of Christ that ye may know good from evil; and if ye will lay hold upon every good thing, and condemn it not, ye certainly will be a child of Christ.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenאֵיךְekhhowתּוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou canלֶאֱחֹזle/e/CHOZto lay holdבְּכׇל־דָּבָרbe/KHOL-da/VARupon every thingטוֹב׃tovgood

    And now, my brethren, how is it possible that ye can lay hold upon every good thing?

21. 21

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאָבוֹאa/VOI comeאֶל־הָאֱמוּנָהel-ha/e/mu/NAto the faithהַהִיאha/HIthatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERI would speakעָלֶיהָa/LE/hathereofוְאַגִּידve/ag/GIDand I will tellלָכֶםla/KHEMyouאֶת־הַדֶּרֶךְet-had/DE/rekhthe wayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּהּbawherebyתּוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou mayלֶאֱחֹזle/e/CHOZto lay holdבְּכׇל־דָּבָרbe/KHOL-da/VARon every thingטוֹב׃tovgood

    And now I come to that faith, of which I said I would speak; and I will tell you the way whereby ye may lay hold on every good thing.

    For behold, God knowing all things, being from everlasting to everlasting, behold, he sent angels to minister unto the children of men, to make manifest concerning the coming of Christ; and in Christ there should come every good thing.

    וְגַם־הִגִּידve/GAM-hig/GIDand also declaredאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלַנְּבִיאִיםlan/ne/vi/IMto the prophetsמִפִּיוmip/PIVby his own mouthכִּיkithatהַמָּשִׁיחַHam/ma/SHI/achChristיָבוֹא׃ya/VOshall come

    And God also declared unto prophets, by his own mouth, that Christ should come.

    And behold, there were divers ways that he did manifest things unto the children of men, which were good; and all things which are good cometh of Christ; otherwise men were fallen, and there could no good thing come unto them.

    לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeבְּשָׁרֵתbe/sha/RETby the ministeringהַמַּלְאָכִיםham/mal/a/KHIMof the angelsוּבְכׇל־דָּבָרu/ve/KHOL-da/VARand by every wordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיָצָאya/TSAproceeded forthמִפִּיmip/PIfrom the mouthאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmenלְהַאֲמִיןle/ha/a/MINto exercise faithבַּמָּשִׁיחַbam/Ma/SHI/achin Christוּבָאֱמוּנָהu/va/e/mu/NAand by the faithהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאָחֲזוּA/cha/zuthey laid holdבְּכׇל־דָּבָרbe/KHOL-da/VARupon every thingטוֹבtovgoodוְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusהָיָהha/YAit wasעַד־בּוֹאad-bountil the comingהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achof Christ

    Wherefore, by the ministering of angels, and by every word which proceeded forth out of the mouth of God, men began to exercise faith in Christ; and thus by faith, they did lay hold upon every good thing; and thus it was until the coming of Christ.

26. 26

    וְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterבֹאוֹvo/Ohis comingנוֹשְׁעוּnosh/Uwere savedגַם־אֲנָשִׁיםgam-a/na/SHIMmen alsoבֶּאֱמוּנָהbe/e/mu/NAby faithבִּשְׁמוֹbish/MOin his nameוּבֶאֱמוּנָהu/ve/e/mu/NAand in faithנִהְיוּnih/YUthey becomeלִבְנֵיliv/NEthe sonsאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand as sure asחַיchaylivesהַמָּשִׁיחַHam/ma/SHI/achChristדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseלַאֲבוֹתֵינוּla/a/vo/TE/nuto our fathersלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכׇּל־דָּבָרkol-da/VARwhatsoever thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichתִּשְׁאֲלוּtish/a/LUyou shall askמֵאֵתme/ETofהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherבִּשְׁמִיbish/MIin my nameאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichטוֹבtovgoodבֶּאֱמוּנָהbe/e/mu/NAin faithבְּהַאֲמִינְכֶםbe/ha/a/mi/ne/KHEMbelievingכִּיkithatתְּקַבְּלוּte/kab/be/LUyou shall receiveהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיֵעָשֶׂהye/a/SEit shall be doneלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

    And after that he came men also were saved by faith in his name; and by faith, they become the sons of God. And as surely as Christ liveth he spake these words unto our fathers, saying: Whatsoever thing ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is good, in faith believing that ye shall receive, behold, it shall be done unto you.

    Wherefore, my beloved brethren, have miracles ceased because Christ hath ascended into heaven, and hath sat down on the right hand of God, to claim of the Father his rights of mercy which he hath upon the children of men?

28. 28

    כִּיkiforמִלֵּאmil/LEhe answeredאֶת־תַּכְלִיתet-takh/LITthe endsהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAof the lawוְהוּאve/HUand heדוֹרֵשׁdo/RESHclaimsאֶת־כׇּל־הַמַּאֲמִינִיםet-kol-ham/ma/a/mi/NIMall those who have faithבּוֹboin himוְהַמַּאֲמִינִיםve/ham/ma/a/mi/NIMand they who have faithבּוֹboin himיִדְבְּקוּyid/be/KUwill cleaveבְּכׇל־דָּבָרbe/KHOL-da/VARunto every thingטוֹבtovgoodלָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeיָלִיץya/LITShe advocatesבְּעַדbe/ADthe causeבְּנֵי־הָאָדָםbe/NE-ha/a/DAMof the children of menוְהוּאve/HUand heשֹׁכֵןsho/KHENdwellsלָעַדla/ADeternallyבַּשָּׁמָיִם׃bash/sha/MA/yimin the heavens

    For he hath answered the ends of the law, and he claimeth all those who have faith in him; and they who have faith in him will cleave unto every good thing; wherefore he advocateth the cause of the children of men; and he dwelleth eternally in the heavens.

29. 29

    וּבַעֲבוּרu/va/a/VURand becauseכִּי־עָשָׂהki-a/SAthat he didזֹאתzotthisאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenהָאֲהוּבִיםha/a/hu/VIMthe belovedהֶחָדְלוּhe/cha/de/LUceasedהַנִּפְלָאוֹתhan/nif/la/OTmiraclesהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלֹאlonayוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלֹאlonotחָדְלוּcha/de/LUceasedהַמַּלְאָכִיםham/mal/a/KHIMthe angelsלְשָׁרֵתle/sha/RETto ministerאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe childrenהָאָדָם׃ha/a/DAMof men

    And because he hath done this, my beloved brethren, have miracles ceased? Behold I say unto you, Nay; neither have angels ceased to minister unto the children of men.

30. 30

    כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנִכְנָעִיםnikh/na/IMsubjectהֵםhemare theyלוֹloto himלְשָׁרֵתle/sha/RETto ministerכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the wordמִצְוָתוֹmits/va/TOof his commandmentוְנִרְאִיםve/nir/IMshowing themselvesלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERunto themאֱמוּנָתָםe/mu/na/TAMof their faithחֲזָקָהcha/za/KAstrongוְדַעְתָּםve/da/TAMand their mindנְכוֹנָהne/kho/NAfirmבְּכׇל־צוּרַתbe/KHOL-tsu/RATin every formיִרְאַתyir/ATof the fearאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

    For behold, they are subject unto him, to minister according to the word of his command, showing themselves unto them of strong faith and a firm mind in every form of godliness.

31. 31

    וּפְקֻדַּתu/fe/kud/DATand the officeשָׁרְתָםsha/re/TAMof their ministryלִקְרֹאlik/ROto callלָאָדָםla/a/DAMmenלָשׁוּבla/SHUVunto repentanceוּלְהָקִיםu/le/ha/KIMand to fulfilוְלַעֲשׂוֹתve/la/a/SOTand to doאֶת־מַעֲשֵׂהet-ma/a/SEthe workבְרִיתוֹתve/ri/TOTof the covenantsהָאָבha/AVof the Fatherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichכָּרַתka/RAThe madeעִם־בְּנֵיim-be/NEunto the childrenהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof menלְהָכִיןle/ha/KHINto prepareהַדֶּרֶךְhad/DE/rekhthe wayבֵּיןbenamongבְּנֵי־הָאָדָםbe/NE-ha/a/DAMthe children of menבְּהַגִּידָםbe/hag/gi/DAMin their declaringאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe wordהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achof Christלִכְלֵיlikh/LEunto the vesselsבְחִירַתve/chi/RATchosenיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatיָעִידוּya/i/DUthey testifyעָלָיו׃a/LAYVof him

    And the office of their ministry is to call men unto repentance, and to fulfil and to do the work of the covenants of the Father, which he hath made unto the children of men, to prepare the way among the children of men, by declaring the word of Christ unto the chosen vessels of the Lord, that they may bear testimony of him.

32. 32

    וּבַעֲשׂוֹתָםu/va/a/so/TAMand in their doingכֵּןkenthusיָכִיןya/KHINpreparesיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־הַדֶּרֶךְet-had/DE/rekhthe wayלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatתִּהְיֶהtih/YEthere shall beלִשְׁאֵרִיתlish/e/RITthe residueהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof menאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithבַּמָּשִׁיחַbam/Ma/SHI/achin Christלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatיִהְיֶהyih/YEmay haveלְרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁle/RU/ach-hak/KO/deshthe Holy Ghostמָקוֹםma/KOMplaceבִּלְבָבָםbil/va/VAMin their heartsכְּפִיke/FIaccording toכֹחָהּkho/CHAthe power thereofוּבַדֶּרֶךְu/vad/DE/rekhand after mannerהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisמֵבִיאme/VIbrings to passהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherאֶת־הַבְּרִיתוֹתet-hab/be/ri/TOTthe covenantsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichכָּרַתka/RAThe madeעִם־בְּנֵיim-be/NEunto the childrenהָאָדָם׃ha/a/DAMof men

    And by so doing, the Lord God prepareth the way that the residue of men may have faith in Christ, that the Holy Ghost may have place in their hearts, according to the power thereof; and after this manner bringeth to pass the Father, the covenants which he hath made unto the children of men.

33. 33

    וְהַמָּשִׁיחַve/ham/Ma/SHI/achand Christאָמַרa/MARsaidאִם־תַּאֲמִינוּim-ta/a/MI/nuif you will have faithבִיviin meיִהְיֶהyih/YEyou shall haveלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכֹּחַKO/achpowerלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doכׇּל־דָּבָרkol-da/VARwhatsoever thingהַמּוֹעִילham/mo/ILis expedientבִּי׃biin me

    And Christ hath said: If ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me.

34. 34

    וְהוּאve/HUand heאָמַרa/MARsaidשׁוּבוּSHU/vurepentכׇּל־קַצְוֵיkol-kats/VEall the endsאֶרֶץE/retsof the earthוּבֹאוּu/VO/uand comeאֵלַיe/LAYto meוְהִטָּבְלוּve/hit/ta/ve/LUand be baptizedבִּשְׁמִיbish/MIin my nameוְהַאֲמִינוּve/ha/a/MI/nuand have faithבִיviin meלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatתִּוָּשְׁעוּ׃tiv/va/she/Uyou may be saved

    And he hath said: Repent all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me, and be baptized in my name, and have faith in me, that ye may be saved.

35. 35

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenהָאֲהוּבִיםha/a/hu/VIMthe belovedאִם־כֵּןim-kenif thusהוּאhuthe caseכִּיkithatאֱמֶתe/METtrueהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tiI spokeאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youוֵאלֹהִיםve/lo/HIMand Godיַרְאֶהyar/Ewill showלָכֶםla/KHEMyouבְּכֹחַbe/KHO/achwith powerוּבְכָבוֹדu/ve/kha/VODand in gloryגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe lastכִּיkithatאֱמֶתe/METtrueהֵםhemtheyוְאִםve/IMand ifאֱמֶתe/METtrueהֵםhemtheyהֶחָדַלhe/cha/DALceasedיוֹםyomthe dayהַנִּפְלָאוֹת׃han/nif/la/OTof miracles

    And now, my beloved brethren, if this be the case that these things are true which I have spoken unto you, and God will show unto you, with power and great glory at the last day, that they are true, and if they are true has the day of miracles ceased?

36. 36

    אוֹoorהֶחָדְלוּhe/cha/de/LUceasedהַמַּלְאָכִיםham/mal/a/KHIMthe angelsלְהֵרָאוֹתle/he/ra/OTto appearלִבְנֵי־הָאָדָםliv/NE-ha/a/DAMto the children of menאוֹoorהֲמָנַעha/ma/NAhas he withheldמֵהֶםme/HEMfrom themאֶת־כֹּחַet-KO/achthe powerרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁRU/ach-Hak/KO/deshof the Holy Ghostאוֹoorהֲיִמְנַעha/yim/NAwill heכׇּל־עוֹדkol-odso long asיֶאֶרְכוּye/er/KHUthey shall continueהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMthe daysאוֹoorתַעֲמֹדta/a/MODstandsהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthאוֹoorיִהְיֶהyih/YEhe shall beאִישׁishany manאֶחָדe/CHADoneעַל־פָּנֶיהָal-pa/NE/haupon its faceלְהִוָּשֵׁעַ׃le/hiv/va/SHE/ato be saved

    Or have angels ceased to appear unto the children of men? Or has he withheld the power of the Holy Ghost from them? Or will he, so long as time shall last, or the earth shall stand, or there shall be one man upon the face thereof to be saved?

37. 37

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלֹאlonayכִּיkiforבֶאֱמוּנָהve/e/mu/NAin faithנַעֲשׂוּna/a/SUare wroughtהַנִּפְלָאוֹתhan/nif/la/OTmiraclesוּבֶאֱמוּנָהu/ve/e/mu/NAand in faithיֵרָאוּye/ra/Uappearהַמַּלְאָכִיםham/mal/a/KHIMthe angelsוִישָׁרְתוּvi/sha/re/TUand ministerלָאָדָםla/a/DAMunto menלָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeאִם־חָדְלוּim-cha/de/LUif ceasedהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאוֹיoywo beלִבְנֵי־הָאָדָםliv/NE-ha/a/DAMto the children of menכִּי־זֶהki-zefor it isמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofמַעַלMA/alunbeliefוְהַכֹּלve/hak/KOLand allהָבֶל׃HA/velis vain

    Behold I say unto you, Nay; for it is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men; wherefore, if these things have ceased wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of unbelief, and all is vain.

38. 38

    כִּי־לֹאki-lofor noיִוָּשַׁעyiv/va/SHAhe shall be savedאִישׁishmanכְּדִבְרֵיke/div/REaccording to the wordsהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achof Christבִּלְתִּיbil/TIsaveאִם־יַאֲמִינוּim-ya/a/MI/nuthey shall have faithבִּשְׁמוֹbish/MOin his nameלָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeאִם־חָדְלוּim-cha/de/LUif ceasedהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseגַּם־חָדְלָהgam-cha/de/LAthen ceased alsoהָאֱמוּנָהha/e/mu/NAthe faithוְנוֹרָאve/no/RAand awfulדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe stateהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof manכִּיkiforהֵםhemtheyכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERas ifלֹא־נֶעֶשְׂתָהlo-ne/es/TAhad not been madeגְאֻלָּה׃ge/ul/LAredemption

    For no man can be saved, according to the words of Christ, save they shall have faith in his name; wherefore, if these things have ceased, then has faith ceased also; and awful is the state of man, for they are as though there had been no redemption made.

    אַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenהָאֲהוּבִיםha/a/hu/VIMthe belovedאֶשְׁפֹּטesh/POTI shall judgeעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMof youדְּבָרִיםde/va/RIMthingsטוֹבִיםto/VIMgoodיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreכִּיkiforאֶשְׁפֹּטesh/POTI shall judgeכִּי־יֵשׁki-yeshthat there isלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithבַּמָּשִׁיחַbam/Ma/SHI/achin Christמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofעַנְוַתְכֶםan/vat/KHEMyour meeknessכִּי־אִםki-imfor ifאֵיןenthere is notלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithבּוֹboin himאֵינְכֶםe/ne/KHEMyou are notנְכוֹנִיםne/kho/NIMfitלְהִמָּנוֹתle/him/ma/NOTto be numberedבְּעַםbe/AMamong the peopleקְהִלָּתוֹ׃ke/hil/la/TOof his church

    But behold, my beloved brethren, I judge better things of you, for I judge that ye have faith in Christ because of your meekness; for if ye have not faith in him then ye are not fit to be numbered among the people of his church.

40. 40

    וְעוֹדve/ODand againאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenהָאֲהוּבִיםha/a/hu/VIMthe belovedאֲדַבֵּרa/dab/BERI would speakאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youעַל־הַתִּקְוָהal-hat/tik/VAconcerning hopeאֵיךְekhhowתּוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou canלְהַשִּׂיגle/has/SIGattain untoאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithבִּלְתִּיbil/TIsaveאִם־תִּהְיֶהim-tih/YEyou shall haveלָכֶםla/KHEMto youתִּקְוָה׃tik/VAhope

    And again, my beloved brethren, I would speak unto you concerning hope. How is it that ye can attain unto faith, save ye shall have hope?

41. 41

    וּמַה־הוּאu/MA-huand what is itאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichתְּקַוּוּte/kav/VUyou shall hopeלוֹloforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatתִּהְיֶהtih/YEyou shall haveלָכֶםla/KHEMto youתִּקְוָהtik/VAhopeבְּכַפָּרַתbe/khap/pa/RATthrough the atonementהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achof Christוּבְכֹחַu/ve/KHO/achand the powerתְּקוּמָתוֹte/ku/ma/TOof his resurrectionלְהִנָּשֵׂאle/hin/na/SEto be raisedלְחַיֵּיle/chay/YEto lifeעוֹלָםo/LAMeternalוְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofאֱמוּנַתְכֶםe/mu/nat/KHEMyour faithבּוֹboin himכְּפִיke/FIaccording toהַדָּבָר׃had/da/VARthe promise

    And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him according to the promise.

42. 42

    לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeאִם־יֵשׁim-yeshif there isלְאִישׁle/ISHfor a manאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithהֲלֹאha/LOhe must needsתִהְיֶהtih/YEhaveלוֹloto himתִּקְוָהtik/VAhopeכִּיkiforבְּלִיbe/LIwithoutאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithלֹאlonotתִּהְיֶהtih/YEcannot beתִּקְוָה׃tik/VAhope

    Wherefore, if a man have faith he must needs have hope; for without faith there cannot be any hope.

43. 43

    וְעוֹדve/ODand againהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּי־לֹאki-lothat he cannotתִהְיֶהtih/YEhaveלוֹloto himאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithוְתִקְוָהve/tik/VAand hopeבִּלְתִּיbil/TIsaveאִם־יִהְיֶהim-yih/YEhe shall beעָנָוa/NAVmeekוּשְׁפַלu/she/FALand lowlyלֵב׃levof heart

    And again, behold I say unto you that he cannot have faith and hope, save he shall be meek, and lowly of heart.

44. 44

    וְאִם־כֵּןve/IM-kenif soאֱמוּנָתוֹe/mu/na/TOhis faithוְתִקְוָתוֹve/tik/va/TOand his hopeהָבֶלHA/velis vainכִּיkiforאֵיןennone isנִרְצֶהnir/TSEacceptableלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodזוּלַתzu/LATsaveהֶעָנָוhe/a/NAVthe meekוּשְׁפַלu/she/FALand lowlyהַלֵּבhal/LEVof the heartוְאִם־יִהְיֶהve/IM-yih/YEand if he shall beאִישׁishany manעָנָוa/NAVmeekוּשְׁפַלu/she/FALand lowlyלֵבlevof heartוּמוֹדֶהu/mo/DEand confessesבְּכֹחַbe/KHO/achby the powerרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁRU/ach-Hak/KO/deshof the Holy GhostכִּיkithatיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהוּאhuisהַמָּשִׁיחַHam/ma/SHI/achChristהֲלֹאha/LOhe must needsיִהְיֶה־לוֹyih/YE-lohaveחֶסֶדCHE/sedcharityכִּי־אִםki-imfor ifאֵין־לוֹen-lohe have notחֶסֶדCHE/sedcharityאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nuhe is notמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingלָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeיִהְיֶה־לוֹyih/YE-lohaveחֶסֶד׃CHE/sedcharity

    If so, his faith and hope is vain, for none is acceptable before God, save the meek and lowly in heart; and if a man be meek and lowly in heart, and confesses by the power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus is the Christ, he must needs have charity; for if he have not charity he is nothing; wherefore he must needs have charity.

    וְהַחֶסֶדve/ha/CHE/sedand charityמַאֲרִיךְma/a/RIKHis slow toאַףafangerוּמֵטִיבu/me/TIVand is kindוְלֹאve/LOand notיְקַנֵּאye/kan/NEis enviousוְלֹאve/LOand notיִתְרוֹמֵםyit/ro/MEMis puffed upלֹאlonotיְבַקֵּשׁye/vak/KESHseeksאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERthat whichלוֹlois her ownלֹאlonotיִתְקַצֵּףyit/kats/TSEFis provokedמְהֵרָהme/he/RAeasilyלֹאlonotיַחְשֹׁבyach/SHOVthinksרָעָהra/Aevilוְלֹאve/LOand notיִשְׂמַחyis/MACHrejoicesבָּעַוְלָהba/av/LAin iniquityאַךְakhbutיִשְׂמַחyis/MACHrejoicesבָּאֱמֶתba/e/METin truthיִשָּׂאyis/SAbearsכֹלkholall thingsיַאֲמִיןya/a/MINbelievesכֹּלkolall thingsיְקַוֶּהye/kav/VEhopesכֹלkholall thingsיִסְבֹּלyis/BOLenduresכֹּל׃kolall things

    And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

46. 46

    לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenהָאֲהוּבִיםha/a/hu/VIMthe belovedאִם־אֵיןim-enif there is notלָכֶםla/KHEMto youחֶסֶדCHE/sedcharityאֵינְכֶםe/ne/KHEMyou are notמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingכִּיkiforהַחֶסֶדha/CHE/sedthe charityלֹאlonotיִכָּשֵׁלyik/ka/SHELfailsלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverלָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeדִּבְקוּdiv/KUcleaveבַחֶסֶדva/CHE/sedin charityאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהוּאhuisהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe greatestמִכֻּלָּםmik/kul/LAMof allכִּיkiforכׇל־הַדְּבָרִיםkhol-had/de/va/RIMall the thingsיִכָּשְׁלוּ׃yik/ka/she/LUmust fail

    Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail—

47. 47

    אַךְakhbutהַחֶסֶדha/CHE/sedthe charityהוּאhuisאַהֲבַתa/ha/VATthe loveהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achof Christהַטְּהוֹרָהhat/te/ho/RAthe pureוְהוּאve/HUand itיַעֲמֹדya/a/MODenduresלָעַדla/ADforeverוְכׇל־הַנִּמְצָאve/KHOL-han/nim/TSAand whoso is foundבוֹvopossessed of itבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMat the dayהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe lastיִיטַבyi/TAVit shall be wellלוֹ׃loto him

    But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.

48. 48

    לָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenהָאֲהוּבִיםha/a/hu/VIMthe belovedהִתְפַּלְּלוּhit/pal/le/LUprayאֶל־הָאָבel-Ha/AVunto the Fatherבְּכׇל־כֹּחַbe/KHOL-KO/achwith all the energyהַלֵּבhal/LEVof the heartלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatתִּמָּלְאוּtim/ma/le/Uyou may be filledבָאַהֲבָהva/a/ha/VAwith the loveהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁר־נָתַןa/SHER-na/TANwhich he bestowedלְכׇל־הַהֹלְכִיםle/KHOL-ha/hol/KHIMupon all who areבֶּאֱמֶתbe/e/METtrueאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REfollowersבְנוֹve/NOof his SonיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַHam/ma/SHI/achChristלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatתִּהְיוּtih/YUyou may becomeבְּנֵיbe/NEsonsאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenיֵרָאֶהye/ra/Ehe shall appearנִהְיֶהnih/YEwe shall beכָמֹהוּkha/MO/hulike himכִּיkiforנִרְאֵהוּnir/e/HUwe shall see himכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהוּאhuheלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatתִּהְיֶהtih/YEwe may haveלָנוּLA/nuto usהַתִּקְוָהhat/tik/VAthe hopeהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisלְמַעַןle/MA/anin order thatנִטָּהֵרnit/ta/HERwe may be purifiedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHEReven asהוּאhuheטָהוֹרta/HORpureאָמֵן׃a/MENAmen

    Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure.
