1. 1

   וְיָצָאand shall come forthחֹטֶרa rodמִגֵּזַעout of the stem ofיִשָׁיJesseוְנֵצֶרand a branchמִשׇּׁרָשָׁיוfrom his rootsיִפְרֶה׃shall grow

   And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.

2. 2

   וְנָחָהand shall restעָלָיוupon himרוּחַthe Spirit ofיְהוָהthe Lordרוּחַthe spirit ofחׇכְמָהwisdomוּבִינָהand understandingרוּחַthe spirit ofעֵצָהcounselוּגְבוּרָהand mightרוּחַthe spirit ofדַּעַתknowledgeוְיִרְאַתand of the fear ofיְהוָה׃the Lord

   And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

3. 3

   וַהֲרִיחוֹand shall make him of quick understandingבְּיִרְאַתin the fear ofיְהוָהthe Lordוְלֹא־לְמַרְאֵהand not after the sight ofעֵינָיוhis eyesיִשְׁפּוֹטshall he judgeוְלֹא־לְמִשְׁמַעneither after the hearing ofאׇזְנָיוhis earsיוֹכִיחַ׃shall he reprove

   And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears.

4. 4

   וְשָׁפַטand he shall judgeבְּצֶדֶקwith righteousnessדַּלִּיםthe poorוְהוֹכִיחַand shall reproveבְּמִישׁוֹרwith equityלְעַנְוֵי־אָרֶץfor the meek of the earthוְהִכָּה־אֶרֶץand he shall smite the earthבְּשֵׁבֶטwith the rod ofפִּיוhis mouthוּבְרוּחַand with the breath ofשְׂפָתָיוhis lipsיָמִיתshall he slayרָשָׁע׃the wicked

   But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

5. 5

   וְהָיָהand shall beצֶדֶקrighteousnessאֵזוֹרthe girdle ofמׇתְנָיוhis loinsוְהָאֱמוּנָהand faithfulnessאֵזוֹרthe girdle ofחֲלָצָיו׃his reins

   And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

6. 6

   וְגָרalso shall dwellזְאֵבthe wolfעִם־כֶּבֶשׂwith the lambוְנָמֵרand the leopardעִם־גְּדִיwith the kidיִרְבָּץshall lie downוְעֵגֶלand the calfוּכְפִירand the young lionוּמְרִיאand fatlingיַחְדָּוtogetherוְנַעַרand a childקָטֹןlittleנֹהֵגshall leadבָּם׃them

   The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the young lion and fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

7. 7

   וּפָרָהand the cowוָדֹבand the bearתִּרְעֶינָהshall feedיַחְדָּוtogetherיִרְבְּצוּshall lie downיַלְדֵיהֶןtheir young onesוְאַרְיֵהand the lionכַּבָּקָרlike the oxיֹאכַל־תֶּבֶן׃shall eat straw

   And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

8. 8

   וְשִׁעֲשַׁעand shall playיוֹנֵקthe sucking childעַל־חֻרon the hole ofפָּתֶןthe aspוְעַל־מְאוּרַתand on the den ofצִפְעוֹנִיthe cockatrice'sגָּמוּלthe weaned childיָדוֹhis handהָדָה׃shall put

   And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’s den.

9. 9

   לֹא־יָרֵעוּthey shall not hurtוְלֹא־יַשְׁחִיתוּnor destroyבְּכׇל־הַרin all mountainקׇדְשִׁיmy holyכִּי־מָלְאָהfor shall be fullהָאָרֶץthe earthדֵּעָהof the knowledge ofאֶת־יְהוָהthe Lordכַּמַּיִםas the watersלַיָּםthe seaמְכַסִּים׃cover

   They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

10. 10

    וְהָיָהand there shall beבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַהוּאthatשֹׁרֶשׁthe root ofיִשַׁיJesseאֲשֶׁרwhichעֹמֵדshall standלְנֵסfor an ensign ofעַמִּיםthe peopleאֵלָיוto itגּוֹיִםthe Gentilesיִדְרֹשׁוּshall seekוְהָיְתָהand shall beמְנֻחָתוֹhis restכָּבוֹד׃glorious

    And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek; and his rest shall be glorious.

11. 11

    וְהָיָהand it shall come to passבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַהוּאthatיוֹסִיףshall set againאֲדֹנָיthe Lordשֵׁנִיתthe second timeיָדוֹhis handלִקְנוֹתto recoverאֶת־שְׁאָרthe remnant ofעַמּוֹhis peopleאֲשֶׁרwhoיִשָּׁאֵרshall be leftמֵאַשּׁוּרfrom Assyriaוּמִמִּצְרַיִםand from Egyptוּמִפַּתְרוֹסand from Pathrosוּמִכּוּשׁand from Cushוּמֵעֵילָםand from Elamוּמִשִּׁנְעָרand from Shinarוּמֵחֲמָתand from Hamathוּמֵאִיֵּיand from the islands ofהַיָּם׃the sea

    And it shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

12. 12

    וְנָשָׂא־נֵסand he shall set up an ensignלַגּוֹיִםfor the nationsוְאָסַףand shall assembleנִדְחֵיthe outcasts ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוּנְפֻצוֹתand the dispersed ofיְהוּדָהJudahיְקַבֵּץgather togetherמֵאַרְבַּעfrom the fourכַּנְפוֹתcorners ofהָאָרֶץ׃the earth

    And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

13. 13

    וְסָרָהalso shall departקִנְאַתthe envy ofאֶפְרַיִםEphraimוְצֹרְרֵיand the adversaries ofיְהוּדָהJudahיִכָּרֵתוּshall be cut offאֶפְרַיִםEphraimלֹא־יְקַנֵּאshall not envyאֶת־יְהוּדָהJudahוִיהוּדָהand Judahלֹא־יָצֹרshall not vexאֶת־אֶפְרָיִם׃Ephraim

    The envy of Ephraim also shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

14. 14

    וְעָפוּbut they shall flyבְכָתֵףupon the shoulders ofפְּלִשְׁתִּיםthe Philistinesיָמָּהwestwardיַחְדָּוtogetherיָבֹזּוּthey shall spoilאֶת־בְּנֵי־קֶדֶםthe children of the eastאֱדוֹםEdomוּמוֹאָבand Moabמִשְׁלוֹחַthey shall layיָדָםtheir handוּבְנֵיand the children ofעַמּוֹןAmmonמִשְׁמַעְתָּם׃shall obey them

    But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines towards the west; they shall spoil them of the east together; they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

15. 15

    וְהֶחֱרִיםand shall utterly destroyיְהוָהthe Lordאֵת־לְשׁוֹןthe tongue ofיָם־מִצְרַיִםthe Egyptian seaוְהֵנִיףand shall shakeיָדוֹhis handעַל־הַנָּהָרover the riverבַּעְיָםwith his scorchingרוּחוֹhis windוְהִכָּהוּand shall smite itלְשִׁבְעָהinto sevenנְחָלִיםstreamsוְהִדְרִיךְand make men go overבַּנְּעָלִים׃dry shod

    And the Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind he shall shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dry shod.

16. 16

    וְהָיְתָהand there shall beמְסִלָּהa highwayלִשְׁאָרfor the remnant ofעַמּוֹhis peopleאֲשֶׁרwhoיִשָּׁאֵרshall be leftמֵאַשּׁוּרfrom Assyriaכַּאֲשֶׁרlike as itהָיְתָהwasלְיִשְׂרָאֵלto Israelבְּיוֹםin the dayעֲלֹתוֹthat he came upמֵאֶרֶץout of the land ofמִצְרָיִם׃Egypt

    And there shall be a highway for the remnant of his people which shall be left, from Assyria, like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
