   And now it came to pass in the eighty and sixth year, the Nephites did still remain in wickedness, yea, in great wickedness, while the Lamanites did observe strictly to keep the commandments of God, according to the law of Moses.

   And it came to pass that in this year there was one Samuel, a Lamanite, came into the land of Zarahemla, and began to preach unto the people. And it came to pass that he did preach, many days, repentance unto the people, and they did cast him out, and he was about to return to his own land.

   But behold, the voice of the Lord came unto him, that he should return again, and prophesy unto the people whatsoever things should come into his heart.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notנְתָנוּהוּne/ta/nu/HUthey would suffer himלָבוֹאla/VOto enterהָעִירָהha/I/rainto the cityלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהָלַךְha/LAKHhe wentוַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland gotעַל־הַחוֹמָהal-ha/cho/MAupon the wall thereofוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand stretched forthיָדוֹya/DOhis handוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand criedבְּקוֹלbe/KOLwith a voiceגָּדוֹלga/DOLloudוַיִּתְנַבֵּאvay/yit/nab/BEand he prophesiedלָעָםla/AMunto the peopleאֵת כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet kol-a/SHERwhatsoever thingsשָׂםsamputיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiבְּלִבּוֹ׃be/lib/BOinto his heart

   And it came to pass that they would not suffer that he should enter into the city; therefore he went and got upon the wall thereof, and stretched forth his hand and cried with a loud voice, and prophesied unto the people whatsoever things the Lord put into his heart.

   And he said unto them: Behold, I, Samuel, a Lamanite, do speak the words of the Lord which he doth put into my heart; and behold he hath put it into my heart to say unto this people that the sword of justice hangeth over this people; and four hundred years pass not away save the sword of justice falleth upon this people.

   Yea, heavy destruction awaiteth this people, and it surely cometh unto this people, and nothing can save this people save it be repentance and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ, who surely shall come into the world, and shall suffer many things and shall be slain for his people.

   וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdמַלְאַךְmal/AKHan angelיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiהִגִּידhig/GIDdeclaredלִיliunto meוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand he broughtבְּשׂוֹרָהbe/so/RAtidingsטוֹבָהto/VAgladלְנַפְשִׁיle/naf/SHIto my soulוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdנִשְׁלַחְתִּיnish/lach/TII was sentאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMunto youלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto declareלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youגַּם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMalsoלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתִּהְיֶהtih/YEthere might beלָכֶםla/KHEMto youבְּשׂוֹרָהbe/so/RAtidingsטוֹבָהto/VAgladאַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלֹאlonotקִבַּלְתֶּםkib/bal/TEMyou would receiveאוֹתִי׃o/TIme

   And behold, an angel of the Lord hath declared it unto me, and he did bring glad tidings to my soul. And behold, I was sent unto you to declare it unto you also, that ye might have glad tidings; but behold ye would not receive me.

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saithיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofקְשִׁיke/SHIthe hardnessלְבַבle/VAVof the heartsעַםamof the peopleהַנֶּפִיִּיםhan/Ne/fiy/YIMof the Nephitesאִם־לֹאim-loexceptיָשׁוּבוּya/SHU/vuthey repentאֶקַּחek/KACHI will take awayאֶת־דְּבָרִיet-de/va/RImy wordמֵהֶםme/HEMfrom themוְאָסִירve/a/SIRand I will withdrawאֶת־רוּחִיet-Ru/CHImy Spiritמֵהֶםme/HEMfrom themוְלֹאve/LOand notאֶשָּׂאes/SAI will sufferאוֹתָםo/TAMthemעוֹדodlongerוְהָפַכְתִּיve/ha/fakh/TIand I will turnאֶת־לֵבet-levthe heartsאֲחֵיהֶםa/che/HEMof their brethrenעֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMagainst them

   Therefore, thus saith the Lord: Because of the hardness of the hearts of the people of the Nephites, except they repent I will take away my word from them, and I will withdraw my Spirit from them, and I will suffer them no longer, and I will turn the hearts of their brethren against them.

9. 9

   וְלֹאve/LOand notיַעַבְרוּya/av/RUthey shall passאַרְבַּעar/BAfourמֵאוֹתme/OThundredשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsעַד־אֲשֶׁרad-a/SHERbeforeאֶתֵּןet/TENI will causeלְהַכּוֹתָםle/hak/ko/TAMthat they shall be smittenאַףafyeaאֶפְקְדֵםef/ke/DEMI will visit themבַּחֶרֶבba/CHE/revwith the swordוּבָרָעָבu/va/ra/AVand with famineוּבַדָּבֶר׃u/vad/DA/verand with pestilence

   And four hundred years shall not pass away before I will cause that they shall be smitten; yea, I will visit them with the sword and with famine and with pestilence.

    אַףafyeaאֶפְקְדֵםef/ke/DEMI will visit themבַּחֲרוֹןba/cha/RONin the fiercenessאַפִּיap/PIof my angerוְיִהְיוּve/yih/YUand there shall beמִדּוֹרmid/DORthose of the generationהָרְבִיעִיha/re/vi/Ifourthאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיִחְיוּyich/YUshall liveמֵאוֹיְבֵיכֶםme/oy/ve/KHEMof your enemiesלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto beholdהַשְׁחָתַתְכֶםhash/cha/tat/KHEMyour destructionכָּלִילka/LILutterוְהָיֹהve/ha/YOand surelyתִהְיֶהtih/YEshall comeזֹאתzotthisאִם־לֹאim-loexceptתָשׁוּבוּta/shu/VUyou repentנְאֻם־יְהוָהne/UM-Adonaisaith Adonaiוּבְנֵיu/ve/NEand thoseהַדּוֹרhad/DORof the generationהָרְבִיעִיha/re/vi/Ifourthיִפְקְדוּyif/ke/DUshall visitאֶת־הַשְׁחָתַתְכֶם׃et-hash/cha/tat/KHEMyour destruction

    Yea, I will visit them in my fierce anger, and there shall be those of the fourth generation who shall live, of your enemies, to behold your utter destruction; and this shall surely come except ye repent, saith the Lord; and those of the fourth generation shall visit your destruction.

11. 11

    אַךְakhbutאִם־תָּשׁוּבוּim-ta/SHU/vuif you will repentוּפְנִיתֶםu/fe/ni/TEMand returnאֶל־יְהוָהel-Adonaiunto Adonaiאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godאָשִׁיבa/SHIVI will turn awayאֶת־חֲרוֹןet-cha/RONthe fiercenessאַפִּיap/PIof my angerנְאֻם־יְהוָהne/UM-Adonaisaith Adonaiאַףafyeaכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saithיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areהַשָּׁבִיםhash/sha/VIMthey who will repentוְהַפֹּנִיםve/hap/po/NIMand turnאֵלַיe/LAYunto meאַךְakhbutאוֹיoywoלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERunto him thatלֹאlonotיָשׁוּב׃ya/SHUVrepents

    But if ye will repent and return unto the Lord your God I will turn away mine anger, saith the Lord; yea, thus saith the Lord, blessed are they who will repent and turn unto me, but wo unto him that repenteth not.

12. 12

    הֵןhenyeaאוֹיoywoלָעִירla/IRunto the cityהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAthe greatזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laZarahemlaכִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofהַצַּדִּיקִיםhats/tsad/di/KIMthe righteousנוֹשָׁעָהno/sha/Ait is savedאַףafyeaאוֹיoywoלָעִירla/IRunto the cityהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAthe greatכִּיkiforרֹאֶהro/Eperceiveאֲנִיa/NIIנְאֻם־יְהוָהne/UM-Adonaisaith Adonaiכִּי־רַבִּיםki-rab/BIMthat there are manyאַףafyeaרֹבrovthe more partהָעִירha/IRof the cityהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAthe greatהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisיַקְשׁוּyak/SHUthat will hardenאֶת־לִבָּםet-lib/BAMtheir heartsנֶגְדִּיneg/DIagainst meנְאֻם־יְהוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisaith Adonai

    Yea, wo unto this great city of Zarahemla; for behold, it is because of those who are righteous that it is saved; yea, wo unto this great city, for I perceive, saith the Lord, that there are many, yea, even the more part of this great city, that will harden their hearts against me, saith the Lord.

13. 13

    אַךְakhbutאַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areהַשָּׁבִיםhash/sha/VIMthey who will repentכִּיkiforאֶחְמֹלech/MOLwill I spareעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMthemאַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלוּלֵיlu/LEif it were not forהַצַּדִּיקִיםhats/tsad/di/KIMthe righteousאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּעִירba/IRin the cityהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAthe greatהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהוֹרַדְתִּיho/rad/TII would cause to come downאֵשׁeshfireמִן־הַשָּׁמַיִםmin-hash/sha/MA/yimout of heavenלְהַשְׁמִידָהּ׃le/hash/mi/DAto destroy it

    But blessed are they who will repent, for them will I spare. But behold, if it were not for the righteous who are in this great city, behold, I would cause that fire should come down out of heaven and destroy it.

    אַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sakeהַצַּדִּיקִיםhats/tsad/di/KIMof the righteousאֶחְמֹלech/MOLI spareעָלֶיהָa/LE/haitאַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבָּאbacomesהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe timeנְאֻם־יְהוָהne/UM-Adonaisaith Adonaiאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat whenתְּגָרְשׁוּte/ga/re/SHUyou shall cast outאֶת־הַצַּדִּיקִיםet-hats/tsad/di/KIMthe righteousמִקִּרְבְּכֶםmik/kir/be/KHEMfrom among youאָזazthenתִּבְשְׁלוּtiv/she/LUshall you be ripeלְהַשְׁחָתָהle/hash/cha/TAfor destructionאַףafyeaאוֹיoywoלָעִירla/IRbe unto the cityהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAthe greatהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe wickednessוְהַתּוֹעֵבוֹתve/hat/to/e/VOTand the abominationsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבְּקִרְבָּהּ׃be/kir/BAare in her

    But behold, it is for the righteous’ sake that it is spared. But behold, the time cometh, saith the Lord, that when ye shall cast out the righteous from among you, then shall ye be ripe for destruction; yea, wo be unto this great city, because of the wickedness and abominations which are in her.

    הֵןhenyeaוְאוֹיve/OYand woלְעִירle/IRbe unto the cityגִּדְעוֹןGid/ONof Gideonבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURforהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe wickednessוְהַתּוֹעֵבוֹתve/hat/to/e/VOTand the abominationsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבְּקִרְבָּהּ׃be/kir/BAare in her

    Yea, and wo be unto the city of Gideon, for the wickedness and abominations which are in her.

16. 16

    הֵןhenyeaוְאוֹיve/OYand woלְכׇל־הֶעָרִיםle/KHOL-he/a/RIMbe unto all the citiesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landמִסָּבִיבmis/sa/VIVround aboutאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבִּידֵיbi/DEin the handsהַנֶּפִיִּיםhan/Ne/fiy/YIMof the Nephitesבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe wickednessוְהַתּוֹעֵבוֹתve/hat/to/e/VOTand the abominationsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבְּקִרְבָּן׃be/kir/BANare in them

    Yea, and wo be unto all the cities which are in the land round about, which are possessed by the Nephites, because of the wickedness and abominations which are in them.

17. 17

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdקְלָלָהke/la/LAa curseתָבוֹאta/VOshall comeעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsupon the landנְאֻם־יְהוָהne/UM-Adonaisaith AdonaiצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho areעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsupon the landאַףafyeaבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofרִשְׁעָתָםrish/a/TAMtheir wickednessוְתוֹעֲבוֹתֵיהֶם׃ve/to/a/vo/te/HEMand their abominations

    And behold, a curse shall come upon the land, saith the Lord of Hosts, because of the people’s sake who are upon the land, yea, because of their wickedness and their abominations.

18. 18

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beנְאֻם־יְהוָהne/UM-Adonaisaith AdonaiצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsאַףafyeaאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLgreatוְהַנֶּאֱמָןve/han/ne/e/MANand trueכִּיkithatכׇל־הַטּוֹמֵןkhol-hat/to/MENwhoso shall hide upמַטְמוֹנִיםmat/mo/NIMtreasuresבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the earthלֹאlonotיִמְצָאֵםyim/tsa/EMshall find themעוֹדodagainבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofהַקְּלָלָהhak/ke/la/LAthe curseהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAthe greatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsupon the landכִּי־אִםki-imsaveצַדִּיקtsad/DIKa righteous manהוּאhuhe beוְיִטְמְנֵםve/yit/me/NEMand shall hide them upלַיהוָה׃la-Adonaiunto Adonai

    And it shall come to pass, saith the Lord of Hosts, yea, our great and true God, that whoso shall hide up treasures in the earth shall find them again no more, because of the great curse of the land, save he be a righteous man and shall hide it up unto the Lord.

19. 19

    כִּיkiforחָפֵץcha/FETSwillאֲנִיa/NIIנְאֻם־יְהוָהne/UM-Adonaisaith Adonaiכִּיkithatיִטְמְנוּyit/me/NUthey shall hide upמַטְמוֹנֵיהֶםmat/mo/ne/HEMtheir treasuresלִיliunto meוְאָרוּרve/a/RURand cursed beאֲשֶׁרa/SHERhe whoלֹאlonotיִטְמֹןyit/MONhide upמַטְמוֹנָיוmat/mo/NAYVhis treasuresלִיliunto meכִּיkiforאֵיןennoneטוֹמֵןto/MENhides upמַטְמוֹנָיוmat/mo/NAYVhis treasuresלִיliunto meזוּלַתzu/LATsave it beהַצַּדִּיקhats/tsad/DIKthe righteousוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand he thatלֹאlonotיִטְמֹןyit/MONhides upמַטְמוֹנָיוmat/mo/NAYVhis treasuresלִיliunto meאָרוּרa/RURcursedהוּאhuis heוְגַםve/GAMand alsoהַמַּטְמוֹןham/mat/MONthe treasureוְאֵיןve/ENand noneפּוֹדֶהpo/DEshall redeemבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofקִלְלַתkil/LATthe curseהָאָרֶץ׃ha/A/retsof the land

    For I will, saith the Lord, that they shall hide up their treasures unto me; and cursed be they who hide not up their treasures unto me; for none hideth up their treasures unto me save it be the righteous; and he that hideth not up his treasures unto me, cursed is he, and also the treasure, and none shall redeem it because of the curse of the land.

    And the day shall come that they shall hide up their treasures, because they have set their hearts upon riches; and because they have set their hearts upon their riches, and will hide up their treasures when they shall flee before their enemies; because they will not hide them up unto me, cursed be they and also their treasures; and in that day shall they be smitten, saith the Lord.

    Behold ye, the people of this great city, and hearken unto my words; yea, hearken unto the words which the Lord saith; for behold, he saith that ye are cursed because of your riches, and also are your riches cursed because ye have set your hearts upon them, and have not hearkened unto the words of him who gave them unto you.

    Ye do not remember the Lord your God in the things with which he hath blessed you, but ye do always remember your riches, not to thank the Lord your God for them; yea, your hearts are not drawn out unto the Lord, but they do swell with great pride, unto boasting, and unto great swelling, envyings, strifes, malice, persecutions, and murders, and all manner of iniquities.

23. 23

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenfor this causeהֵבִיאhe/VIbroughtיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodקְלָלָהke/la/LAa curseעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retsupon the landוְגַםve/GAMand alsoעַל־עׇשְׁרְכֶםal-osh/re/KHEMupon your richesוְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisבַּעֲוֹנוֹתֵיכֶם׃ba/a/vo/no/te/KHEMbecause of your iniquities

    For this cause hath the Lord God caused that a curse should come upon the land, and also upon your riches, and this because of your iniquities.

24. 24

    הֵןhenyeaאוֹיoywoלָעָםla/AMunto the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofהָעֵתha/ETthe timeהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּאָהba/Aarrivedכִּיkithatתְגָרְשׁוּte/ga/re/SHUyou cast outאֶת־הַנְּבִיאִיםet-han/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsוְתִלְעֲגוּve/til/a/GUand mockלָהֶםla/HEMthemוְתִרְגְּמוּve/tir/ge/MUand stoneאוֹתָםo/TAMthemבָּאֲבָנִיםba/a/va/NIMwith stonesוְתַהַרְגוּםve/ta/har/GUMand slay themוְתַעֲשׂוּve/ta/a/SUand doלָהֶםla/HEMunto themכׇּל־עָוֹןkol-a/VONall manner of iniquityכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHEReven asעָשׂוּa/SUthey didבִּימֵיbi/MEin the daysקֶדֶם׃KE/demof old

    Yea, wo unto this people, because of this time which has arrived, that ye do cast out the prophets, and do mock them, and cast stones at them, and do slay them, and do all manner of iniquity unto them, even as they did of old time.

25. 25

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowבְּדַבֶּרְכֶםbe/dab/ber/KHEMwhen you talkתֹּאמְרוּto/me/RUyou sayאִלּוּil/LUifהָיוּha/YUhad beenיָמֵינוּya/ME/nuour daysבִּימֵיbi/MEin the daysאֲבוֹתֵינוּa/vo/TE/nuof our fathersהַקַּדְמוֹנִיםhak/kad/mo/NIMof oldלֹאlonotהָרַגְנוּha/rag/NUwe would have slainאֶת־הַנְּבִיאִיםet-han/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsלֹאlonotרָגַמְנוּra/gam/NUwe would have stonedאוֹתָםo/TAMthemוְגֵרַשְׁנוּve/ge/rash/NUand cast outאוֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    And now when ye talk, ye say: If our days had been in the days of our fathers of old, we would not have slain the prophets; we would not have stoned them, and cast them out.

26. 26

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdרָעִיםra/IMworseאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areמֵהֶםme/HEMthan theyכִּיkiforחַי־יְהוָהchay-Adonaias Adonai livesאִם־יָבוֹאim-ya/VOif there comeנָבִיאna/VIa prophetבֵּינֵיכֶםbe/ne/KHEMamong youוְיַגִּידve/yag/GIDand declaresלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe wordיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiהַמֵּעִידham/me/IDwhich testifiesעַל־חַטֹּאתֵיכֶםal-chat/to/te/KHEMof your sinsוַעֲוֹנוֹתֵיכֶםva/a/vo/no/te/KHEMand your iniquitiesתִּכְעֲסוּtikh/a/SUyou are angryעָלָיוa/LAYVwith himוּתְגָרְשׁוּהוּu/te/ga/re/shu/HUand cast him outוּתְבַקְשׁוּu/te/vak/SHUand seekבְּכׇל־דֶּרֶךְbe/KHOL-DE/rekhin all manner of waysלְהַשְׁמִידוֹle/hash/mi/DOto destroy himאַףafyeaתֹּאמְרוּto/me/RUyou will sayכִּיkithatנְבִיאne/VIa prophetשֶׁקֶרSHE/kerfalseהוּאhuhe isוְחוֹטֵאve/cho/TEand a sinnerוּמִן־הַשָּׂטָןu/MIN-has/sa/TANand of the devilכִּיkibecauseמֵעִידme/IDhe testifiesהוּאhuheכִּיkithatרָעִיםra/IMare evilמַעֲשֵׂיכֶם׃ma/a/se/KHEMyour deeds

    Behold ye are worse than they; for as the Lord liveth, if a prophet come among you and declareth unto you the word of the Lord, which testifieth of your sins and iniquities, ye are angry with him, and cast him out and seek all manner of ways to destroy him; yea, you will say that he is a false prophet, and that he is a sinner, and of the devil, because he testifieth that your deeds are evil.

    אַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאִם־יָבוֹאim-ya/VOif there comeאִישׁisha manבֵּינֵיכֶםbe/ne/KHEMamong youוְיֹאמַרve/yo/MARand he shall sayעֲשׂוּa/SUdoזֹאתzotthisוְאֵיןve/ENand there is notעָוֹןa/VONiniquityעֲשׂוּa/SUdoזֹאתzotthisוְלֹאve/LOand notתִסְבְּלוּtis/be/LUyou shall sufferאַףafyeaיֹאמַרyo/MARhe shall sayלְכוּle/KHUwalkאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterגַאֲוַתga/a/VATthe prideלִבְּכֶםlib/be/KHEMof your heartsאַףafyeaלְכוּle/KHUwalkאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterגַאֲוַתga/a/VATthe prideעֵינֵיכֶםe/ne/KHEMof your eyesוַעֲשׂוּva/a/SUand doכְּכׇל־תַּאֲוַתke/KHOL-ta/a/VATwhatsoever desiresלִבְּכֶםlib/be/KHEMyour heartsוְאִם־יָבוֹאve/IM-ya/VOand if shall comeאִישׁisha manבֵּינֵיכֶםbe/ne/KHEMamong youוְיֹאמַרve/yo/MARand he shall sayכָּזֹאתka/ZOTthisתְּקַבְּלוּהוּte/kab/be/lu/HUyou will receive himוְתֹאמְרוּve/to/me/RUand sayכִּיkithatנָבִיאna/VIa prophetהוּא׃huhe is

    But behold, if a man shall come among you and shall say: Do this, and there is no iniquity; do that and ye shall not suffer; yea, he will say: Walk after the pride of your own hearts; yea, walk after the pride of your eyes, and do whatsoever your heart desireth—and if a man shall come among you and say this, ye will receive him, and say that he is a prophet.

28. 28

    הֵןhenyeaתְּנַשְּׂאוּהוּte/nas/se/u/HUyou will lift him upוְתִתְּנוּve/tit/te/NUand you will giveלוֹlohimמֵרְכוּשְׁכֶםmer/khush/KHEMof your substanceתִּתְּנוּtit/te/NUyou will giveלוֹlohimמִזְּהַבְכֶםmiz/ze/hav/KHEMof your goldוּמִכַּסְפְּכֶםu/mik/kas/pe/KHEMand of your silverוְתַלְבִּישׁוּהוּve/tal/bi/shu/HUand you will clothe himבְּגָדִיםbe/ga/DIMwith apparelיְקָרִיםye/ka/RIMcostlyוְיַעַןve/YA/anand becauseיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERhe speaksאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMunto youחֲלָקוֹתcha/la/KOTflattering wordsוְיֹאמַרve/yo/MARand he saithשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMthat all is wellאָזazthenלֹאlonotתִמְצְאוּtim/tse/Uyou will findבוֹvowith himעָוֶל׃A/velfault

    Yea, ye will lift him up, and ye will give unto him of your substance; ye will give unto him of your gold, and of your silver, and ye will clothe him with costly apparel; and because he speaketh flattering words unto you, and he saith that all is well, then ye will not find fault with him.

29. 29

    הוֹיhoyOדּוֹרdorgenerationרָשָׁעra/SHAwickedוּפְתַלְתֹּלu/fe/tal/TOLand perverseעַםampeopleקְשֵׁה־עֹרֶףke/SHE-O/refstiffneckedוּקְשֵׁה־לֵבu/ke/SHE-levand hardenedעַד־מָתַיad-ma/TAYhow longתַּחְשְׁבוּtach/she/VUwill you supposeכִּיkithatיִשָּׂאyis/SAwill sufferאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאַףafyeaעַד־מָתַיad-ma/TAYhow longתִּתְּנוּtit/te/NUwill suffer yourselvesלְהוֹבִילְכֶםle/ho/vi/le/KHEMto be ledמוֹרִיםmo/RIMby guidesאֱוִילִיםe/vi/LIMfoolishוְעִוְרִיםve/iv/RIMand blindאַףafyeaעַד־מָתַיad-ma/TAYhow longתִּבְחֲרוּtiv/cha/RUwill you chooseבַחֹשֶׁךְva/CHO/shekhdarknessוְלֹאve/LOand notבָאוֹר׃va/ORlight

    O ye wicked and ye perverse generation; ye hardened and ye stiffnecked people, how long will ye suppose that the Lord will suffer you? Yea, how long will ye suffer yourselves to be led by foolish and blind guides? Yea, how long will ye choose darkness rather than light?

30. 30

    אַףafyeaהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdחֲרוֹןcha/RONthe angerיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiכְּבָרke/VARalreadyנִצַּתnits/TSATis kindledבָּכֶםba/KHEMagainst youהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֵרַרe/RARhe cursedאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landבַּעֲוֹנְכֶם׃ba/a/von/KHEMbecause of your iniquity

    Yea, behold, the anger of the Lord is already kindled against you; behold, he hath cursed the land because of your iniquity.

31. 31

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdבָּאbacomesהַזְּמָןhaz/ze/MANthe timeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיְאָרֵרye/a/RERhe cursesאֶת־עׇשְׁרְכֶםet-osh/re/KHEMyour richesוְהָיוּve/ha/YUthat they becomeלַחֲלַקְלַקּוֹתla/cha/lak/lak/KOTslipperyוְלֹאve/LOand notתוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou canלְהַחֲזִיקle/ha/cha/ZIKholdבָּםbamthemוּבִימֵיu/vi/MEand in the daysעׇנְיְכֶםon/ye/KHEMof your povertyלֹאlonotתוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou canלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORretainאוֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    And behold, the time cometh that he curseth your riches, that they become slippery, that ye cannot hold them; and in the days of your poverty ye cannot retain them.

32. 32

    וּבִימֵיu/vi/MEand in the daysעׇנְיְכֶםon/ye/KHEMof your povertyתִּזְעֲקוּtiz/a/KUyou shall cryאֶל־יְהוָהel-Adonaiunto Adonaiוְלַשָּׁוְאve/lash/SHAVand in vainתִּזְעֲקוּtiz/a/KUshall you cryכִּיkiforשִׁמְמַתְכֶםshim/mat/KHEMyour desolationכְּבָרke/VARalreadyבָּאָהba/Ais comeעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMupon youוְהַשְׁחָתַתְכֶםve/hash/cha/tat/KHEMand your destructionנָכוֹנָהna/KHO/nais made sureוְאָזve/AZand thenתִּבְכּוּtiv/KUshall you weepוּתְיֵלִילוּu/te/ye/li/LUand howlבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatנְאֻם־יְהוָהne/UM-Adonaisaith AdonaiצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsוְאָזve/AZand thenתִּסְפְּדוּtis/pe/DUshall you lamentוְתֹאמְרוּ׃ve/to/me/RUand say

    And in the days of your poverty ye shall cry unto the Lord; and in vain shall ye cry, for your desolation is already come upon you, and your destruction is made sure; and then shall ye weep and howl in that day, saith the Lord of Hosts. And then shall ye lament, and say:

    אַחֲלֵיa/cha/LEO thatשַׁבְתִּיSHAV/tiI repentedוְלֹאve/LOand notהָרַגְתִּיha/RAG/tikilledאֶת־הַנְּבִיאִיםet-han/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsוְלֹאve/LOand notרָגַמְתִּיra/gam/TIstonedאוֹתָםo/TAMthemוְלֹאve/LOand notגֵרַשְׁתִּיםge/rash/TIMcast them outאַףafyeaבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatתֹּאמְרוּto/me/RUyou shall sayאַחֲלֵיa/cha/LEO thatזָכַרְנוּza/KHAR/nuwe rememberedאֶת־יְהוָהet-AdonaiAdonaiאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the dayתִּתּוֹtit/TOthat he gaveלָנוּLA/nuusעׇשְׁרֵנוּosh/re/NUour richesוְאָזve/AZand thenלֹא־הָיוּlo-ha/YUthey would not have becomeלַחֲלַקְלַקּוֹתla/cha/lak/lak/KOTslipperyלְאׇבְדָםle/ov/DAMthat we should lose themכִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdעׇשְׁרֵנוּosh/re/NUour richesאָבַדa/VADare goneמֵאִתָּנוּ׃me/it/TA/nufrom us

    O that I had repented, and had not killed the prophets, and stoned them, and cast them out. Yea, in that day ye shall say: O that we had remembered the Lord our God in the day that he gave us our riches, and then they would not have become slippery that we should lose them; for behold, our riches are gone from us.

34. 34

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנָשִׂיםna/SIMwe layכְּלִיke/LIa toolפֹהfohereוּמָחָרu/ma/CHARand on the morrowאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nuit is goneוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdחַרְבוֹתֵינוּchar/vo/te/NUour swordsנִלְקְחוּnil/ke/CHUare takenמֵאִתָּנוּme/it/TA/nufrom usבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the dayבַּקְּשֵׁנוּbak/ke/she/NUwe soughtאוֹתָןo/TANthemלַמִּלְחָמָה׃lam/mil/cha/MAfor battle

    Behold, we lay a tool here and on the morrow it is gone; and behold, our swords are taken from us in the day we have sought them for battle.

35. 35

    הֵןhenyeaטָמַנּוּta/man/NUwe hid upמַטְמוֹנֵינוּmat/mo/ne/NUour treasuresוְהֵםve/HEMand theyחָמְקוּcha/me/KUslipped awayמֵאִתָּנוּme/it/TA/nufrom usבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofקִלְלַתkil/LATthe curseהָאָרֶץ׃ha/A/retsof the land

    Yea, we have hid up our treasures and they have slipped away from us, because of the curse of the land.

36. 36

    אַחֲלֵיa/cha/LEO thatשַׁבְנוּSHAV/nuwe repentedבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the dayבּוֹאbothat cameדְבַר־יְהוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of Adonaiאֵלֵינוּe/LE/nuunto usכִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landמְקֻלֶּלֶתme/kul/LE/letis cursedוְכׇל־הַדְּבָרִיםve/KHOL-had/de/va/RIMand all the thingsהָיוּha/YUare becomeלַחֲלַקְלַקּוֹתla/cha/lak/lak/KOTslipperyוְלֹאve/LOand notנוּכַלnu/KHALwe canלְהַחֲזִיקle/ha/cha/ZIKholdבָּם׃bamthem

    O that we had repented in the day that the word of the Lord came unto us; for behold the land is cursed, and all things are become slippery, and we cannot hold them.

37. 37

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdסְבָבוּנוּse/va/VU/nuwe are surrounded byשֵׁדִיםshe/DIMdemonsאַףafyeaמֻקָּפִיםmuk/ka/FIMencircled aboutאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuwe areבְּמַלְאֲכֵיbe/mal/a/KHEby the angelsהַמְּבַקֵּשׁham/me/vak/KESHof him who soughtלְהַשְׁחִיתle/hash/CHITto destroyאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹתֵינוּet-naf/sho/TE/nuour soulsהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdגָּדְלוּga/de/LUare greatעֲוֹנוֹתֵינוּa/vo/no/te/NUour iniquitiesיְהוָהAdonaiO Adonaiהֲלֹאha/LOcan you notתָשִׁיבta/SHIVturn awayחֲרוֹנְךָcha/ron/KHAyour angerמֵעָלֵינוּme/a/LE/nufrom usוְכָזֹאתve/kha/ZOTand thisתְּדַבְּרוּte/dab/be/RUshall be your languageבַּיָּמִיםbay/ya/MIMin the daysהָהֵם׃ha/HEMthose

    Behold, we are surrounded by demons, yea, we are encircled about by the angels of him who hath sought to destroy our souls. Behold, our iniquities are great. O Lord, canst thou not turn away thine anger from us? And this shall be your language in those days.

    But behold, your days of probation are past; ye have procrastinated the day of your salvation until it is everlastingly too late, and your destruction is made sure; yea, for ye have sought all the days of your lives for that which ye could not obtain; and ye have sought for happiness in doing iniquity, which thing is contrary to the nature of that righteousness which is in our great and Eternal Head.

    O ye people of the land, that ye would hear my words! And I pray that the anger of the Lord be turned away from you, and that ye would repent and be saved.
