   And now, these are the words of Ammon to his brethren, which say thus: My brothers and my brethren, behold I say unto you, how great reason have we to rejoice; for could we have supposed when we started from the land of Zarahemla that God would have granted unto us such great blessings?

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֶשְׁאַלesh/ALI askמָהmawhatהַבְּרָכוֹתhab/be/ra/KHOTblessingsהַגְּדֹלוֹתhag/ge/do/LOTgreatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatגָּמַלga/MALhe bestowedעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuupon usהֲתוּכְלוּha/tukh/LUcan youלְהַגִּיד׃le/hag/GIDtell

   And now, I ask, what great blessings has he bestowed upon us? Can ye tell?

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֶעֱנֶהe/e/NEI answerלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youכִּיkiforאַחֵינוּa/CHE/nuour brethrenהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesהָיוּha/YUwereבַחֹשֶׁךְva/CHO/shekhin darknessאַףafyea evenבִּתְהוֹםbit/HOMin the abyssמַאְפֵּלְיָהma/pel/YAof thick darknessאַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdכַּמָּהkam/MAhow manyמֵהֶםme/HEMof themהוּבְאוּhuv/Uare broughtלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto beholdאֶת־אוֹרet-orthe lightאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godהַנִּפְלָאhan/nif/LAthe marvelousוְזֹאתve/ZOTand this isהַבְּרָכָהhab/be/ra/KHAthe blessingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִתְּנָהnit/te/NAhas been bestowedלָנוּLA/nuupon usכִּיkithatהָיִינוּha/YI/nuwe have beenכֵּלִיםke/LIMinstrumentsבְּיַד־אֱלֹהִיםbe/YAD-e/lo/HIMin the hands of Godלְהָבִיאle/ha/VIto bring aboutאֶת־הַמַּעֲשֶׂהet-ham/ma/a/SEthe workהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLgreatהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   Behold, I answer for you; for our brethren, the Lamanites, were in darkness, yea, even in the darkest abyss, but behold, how many of them are brought to behold the marvelous light of God! And this is the blessing which hath been bestowed upon us, that we have been made instruments in the hands of God to bring about this great work.

   Behold, thousands of them do rejoice, and have been brought into the fold of God.

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבָּשַׁלba/SHALwas ripeהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldוּבְרוּכִיםu/ve/ru/KHIMand blessed areאַתֶּםat/TEMyouכִּיkiforשְׁלַחְתֶּםshe/lach/TEMyou thrust inמַגָּלmag/GALthe sickleוַתִּקְצְרוּvat/tik/tse/RUand reapedבְּכֹחֲכֶםbe/kho/cha/KHEMwith your mightאַףafyeaעֲבַדְתֶּםa/vad/TEMyou laboredכׇּל־הַיּוֹםkol-hay/YOMall the day longוּרְאוּu/re/Uand beholdמִסְפַּרmis/PARthe numberעׇמְרֵיכֶםom/re/KHEMof your sheavesוְיֵאָסְפוּve/ye/a/se/FUand they shall be gatheredאֶלelintoהָאֲסָמִיםha/a/sa/MIMthe garnersלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat they are notיֹאבְדוּ׃yo/ve/DUwasted

   Behold, the field was ripe, and blessed are ye, for ye did thrust in the sickle, and did reap with your might, yea, all the day long did ye labor; and behold the number of your sheaves! And they shall be gathered into the garners, that they are not wasted.

   הֵןhenyeaלֹא־יֻכּוּlo-yuk/KUthey shall not be beaten downבַסּוּפָהvas/su/FAby the stormבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMat the dayהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe lastוְלֹאve/LOneitherיִסָּחֲפוּyis/sa/cha/FUshall they be harrowed upבַסְּעָרָהvas/se/a/RAby the whirlwindsכִּיkibutבְבוֹאve/VOwhen comesהַסּוּפָהhas/su/FAthe stormיֵאָסְפוּye/a/se/FUthey shall be gatheredיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherבִּמְקוֹמָםbim/ko/MAMin their placeוְלֹאve/LOthat notתַגִּיעַtag/GI/acan penetrateאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהַסּוּפָהhas/su/FAthe stormוְאַףve/AFyeaלֹאloneitherיִנָּדְפוּyin/na/de/FUshall they be drivenבְּרוּחוֹתbe/ru/CHOTwith windsעַזּוֹתaz/ZOTfierceאֶל־אֲשֶׁרel-a/SHERwhithersoeverיַחְפֹּץyach/POTSwishesהָאוֹיֵבha/o/YEVthe enemyלְהוֹלִיכָם׃le/ho/li/KHAMto carry them

   Yea, they shall not be beaten down by the storm at the last day; yea, neither shall they be harrowed up by the whirlwinds; but when the storm cometh they shall be gathered together in their place, that the storm cannot penetrate to them; yea, neither shall they be driven with fierce winds whithersoever the enemy listeth to carry them.

   אַךְakhbutהִנָּםhin/NAMbehold they areבְּיַדbe/YADin the handsאֲדוֹןa/DONof the Lordהַקָּצִירhak/ka/TSIRof the harvestוְלוֹve/LOand hisהֵמָּהHEM/maare theyוְהוּאve/HUand heיְקִימֵםye/ki/MEMwill raise them upבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMat the dayהָאַחֲרוֹן׃ha/a/cha/RONthe last

   But behold, they are in the hands of the Lord of the harvest, and they are his; and he will raise them up at the last day.

   בָּרוּךְba/RUKHblessed beשֵׁםshemthe nameאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuof our Godנְזַמְּרָהne/zam/me/RAlet us singלִתְהִלָּתוֹlit/hil/la/TOto his praiseאַףafyeaנוֹדֶהno/DElet us give thanksלִשְׁמוֹlish/MOto his nameהַקָּדוֹשׁhak/ka/DOSHholyכִּיkiforפֹּעֵלpo/ELworksצֶדֶקTSE/dekrighteousnessהוּאhuheלְעוֹלָם׃le/o/LAMforever

   Blessed be the name of our God; let us sing to his praise, yea, let us give thanks to his holy name, for he doth work righteousness forever.

   כִּיkiforלוּלֵאlu/LEif notעָלִינוּa/LI/nuwe came upמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsout of the landזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaהָיוּha/YUwould have beenאַחֵינוּa/CHE/nuour brethrenהָאֲהוּבִיםha/a/hu/VIMdearly belovedהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאָהֲבוּA/ha/vulovedאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusאַהֲבָהa/ha/VAwith loveרַבָּהrab/BAgreatעוֹדָםo/DAMstillמְעֻנִּיםme/un/NIMrackedבְּשִׂנְאָתָםbe/sin/a/TAMwith hatredאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuagainst usוְאַףve/AFyea alsoהָיוּha/YUthey would have beenזָרִיםza/RIMstrangersלֵאלֹהִים׃le/lo/HIMto God

   For if we had not come up out of the land of Zarahemla, these our dearly beloved brethren, who have so dearly beloved us, would still have been racked with hatred against us, yea, and they would also have been strangers to God.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכְּכַלּוֹתke/khal/LOTwhen made an endעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERof speakingאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיּוֹכִיחֵנּוּvay/yo/khi/chen/NUrebuked himאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherאַהֲרֹןA/ha/RONAaronלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonיָרֵאya/REfearאֲנִיa/NIIפֶּןpenlestתִּשָּׂאֲךָtis/sa/a/KHAcarry you awayשִׂמְחָתְךָsim/cha/te/KHAyour joyלְהִתְהַלֵּל׃le/hit/hal/LELunto boasting

    And it came to pass that when Ammon had said these words, his brother Aaron rebuked him, saying: Ammon, I fear that thy joy doth carry thee away unto boasting.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonלֹאlonotבְכֹחִיve/kho/CHIin my own strengthוְלֹאve/LOneitherבְחׇכְמָתִיve/chokh/ma/TIin my own wisdomאֶתְהַלֵּלet/hal/LELdo I boastאַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdמָלְאָהma/le/Ais fullשִׂמְחָתִיsim/cha/TImy joyאַףafyeaרָוָהra/VAis brim withלִבִּיlib/BImy heartשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAjoyוְאֶשְׂמַחve/es/MACHand I will rejoiceבֵּאלֹהָי׃be/lo/HAYin my God

    But Ammon said unto him: I do not boast in my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea, my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God.

    הֵןhenyeaיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowכִּיkithatאַיִןA/yinam nothingאָנִיA/niIוּבְכֹחִיu/ve/kho/CHIas to my strengthחַלָּשׁchal/LASHweakאָנִיA/niI amלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeלֹאloI will notאֶתְהַלֵּלet/hal/LELboastבְּנַפְשִׁיbe/naf/SHIof myselfכִּי־אִםki-imbutאֶתְהַלֵּלet/hal/LELI will boastבֵּאלֹהַיbe/lo/HAYof my Godכִּיkiforבְכֹחוֹve/kho/CHOin his strengthאוּכַלu/KHALI can doכֹּלkolall thingsאַףafyeaהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdגְּבוּרוֹתge/vu/ROTmighty miraclesרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyעָשִׂינוּa/SI/nuwe wroughtבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעֲלֵיהֶןa/le/HENfor themנְהַלֵּלne/hal/LELwe will praiseאֶת־שְׁמוֹet-she/MOhis nameלְעוֹלָם׃le/o/LAMforever

    Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdכַּמָּהkam/MAhow manyאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandsמֵאַחֵינוּme/a/CHE/nuof our brethrenהִתִּירhit/TIRhas he loosedמֵחֶבְלֵיme/chev/LEfrom the painsשְׁאוֹלshe/OLof hellוַיּוּבְאוּvay/yuv/Uand they are broughtלָשִׁירla/SHIRto singאַהֲבַתa/ha/VATloveגְּאֻלָּהge/ul/LAredeemingוְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofכֹּחַKO/achthe powerדְּבָרוֹde/va/ROof his wordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isבָּנוּBA/nuin usוְעַל־כֵּןve/AL-kenthereforeהֲלֹאha/LOis there notיֶשׁ־לָנוּyesh-LA/nuunto usסִבָּהsib/BAreasonגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatלִשְׂמֹחַ׃lis/MO/achto rejoice

    Behold, how many thousands of our brethren has he loosed from the pains of hell; and they are brought to sing redeeming love, and this because of the power of his word which is in us, therefore have we not great reason to rejoice?

    הֵןhenyeaיֶשׁ־לָנוּyesh-LA/nuwe haveסִבָּהsib/BAreasonלְהַלְּלוֹle/hal/le/LOto praise himלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverכִּי־הוּאki-hufor he isאֵלelthe GodעֶלְיוֹןEl/YONMost Highוְהִתִּירve/hit/TIRand loosedאֶת־אַחֵינוּet-a/CHE/nuour brethrenמִכַּבְלֵיmik/kav/LEfrom the chainsשְׁאוֹל׃she/OLof hell

    Yea, we have reason to praise him forever, for he is the Most High God, and has loosed our brethren from the chains of hell.

    הֵןhenyeaהָיוּha/YUthey wereמֻקָּפִיםmuk/ka/FIMencircled aboutבְּחֹשֶׁךְbe/CHO/shekhwith darknessעוֹלָםo/LAMeverlastingוַאֲבַדּוֹןva/a/vad/DONand destructionאַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהֱבִיאָםhe/vi/AMhe brought themאֶלelintoאוֹרorlightעוֹלָמוֹo/la/MOhis everlastingאַףafyeaאֶלelintoתְּשׁוּעַתte/shu/ATsalvationעוֹלָמִיםo/la/MIMeverlastingוְהֵםve/HEMand they areמֻקָּפִיםmuk/ka/FIMencircled aboutבְּשֶׁפַעbe/SHE/fawith the bountyחַסְדּוֹchas/DOof his loveאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאֵיןenthere is noneכָּמוֹהוּka/mo/HUlike itאַףafyeaהָיִינוּha/YI/nuwe have beenכֵלִיםkhe/LIMinstrumentsבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handsלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTof doingאֶת־הַמַּעֲשֶׂהet-ham/ma/a/SEthe workהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLgreatוְהַנִּפְלָאve/han/nif/LAand marvelousהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    Yea, they were encircled about with everlasting darkness and destruction; but behold, he has brought them into his everlasting light, yea, into everlasting salvation; and they are encircled about with the matchless bounty of his love; yea, and we have been instruments in his hands of doing this great and marvelous work.

    Therefore, let us glory, yea, we will glory in the Lord; yea, we will rejoice, for our joy is full; yea, we will praise our God forever. Behold, who can glory too much in the Lord? Yea, who can say too much of his great power, and of his mercy, and of his long-suffering towards the children of men? Behold, I say unto you, I cannot say the smallest part which I feel.

    מִיmiwhoיָכֹלya/KHOLcould haveלַחְשֹׁבlach/SHOVsupposedכִּיkithatיִהְיֶהyih/YEwould have beenאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godרַב־חֶסֶדrav-CHE/sedmercifulעַד־מְאֹדad-me/ODsoלְהַצִּילֵנוּle/hats/tsi/LE/nuas to snatch usמֵחַטֹּאתֵינוּme/chat/to/TE/nufrom our sinsהַנּוֹרָאוֹתhan/no/ra/OTawfulוּמִטֻּמְאָתֵנוּ׃u/mit/tum/a/te/NUand from our pollution

    Who could have supposed that our God would have been so merciful as to have snatched us from our awful, sinful, and polluted state?

18. 18

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיָצָאנוּya/TSA/nuwe went forthבַחֲמָתֵנוּva/cha/ma/te/NUin our wrathבְּזַעַםbe/ZA/amwith threateningsכָּבֵדka/VEDmightyלְהַשְׁמִידle/hash/MIDto destroyאֶת־קְהִלָּתוֹ׃et-ke/hil/la/TOhis church

    Behold, we went forth even in wrath, with mighty threatenings to destroy his church.

    הוֹיhoyohאֵפוֹאe/FOthenמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyלֹאlodid he notהִסְגִּירָנוּhis/gi/ra/NUconsign usלַאֲבַדּוֹןla/a/vad/DONto destructionנוֹרָאno/RAawfulאַףafyeaמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyלֹאlodid he notהִפִּילhip/PILlet fallעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuupon usאֶת־חֶרֶבet-CHE/revthe swordצִדְקוֹtsid/KOof his justiceוַיְדִינֵנוּvay/di/ne/NUand doom usלְאֵין־תִּקְוָהle/EN-tik/VAto despairעוֹלָמִים׃o/la/MIMeternal

    Oh then, why did he not consign us to an awful destruction, yea, why did he not let the sword of his justice fall upon us, and doom us to eternal despair?

    הוֹיhoyohנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulכִּמְעַטkim/ATalmostנָסָהNA/safleesמֵהַמַּחְשָׁבָהme/ham/mach/sha/VAat the thoughtהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלֹא־עָשָׂהlo-a/SAhe did not exerciseבָנוּVA/nuupon usכְמִשְׁפָּטוֹkhe/mish/pa/TOaccording to his justiceאַךְakhbutבְּחַסְדּוֹbe/chas/DOin his mercyהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLgreatהֶעֱבִירָנוּhe/e/vi/ra/NUbrought usמֵעַלme/ALoverתְּהוֹםte/HOMthe gulfהַמָּוֶתham/MA/vetof deathוְהַיָּגוֹןve/hay/ya/GONand miseryאֲשֶׁר־לְעוֹלָםa/SHER-le/o/LAMeverlastingאֶלeleven toתְּשׁוּעַתte/shu/ATthe salvationנַפְשֵׁנוּ׃naf/SHE/nuof our souls

    Oh, my soul, almost as it were, fleeth at the thought. Behold, he did not exercise his justice upon us, but in his great mercy hath brought us over that everlasting gulf of death and misery, even to the salvation of our souls.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenמִיmiwhatהָאָדָםha/a/DAMthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho isבַּבָּשָׂרbab/ba/SARin the fleshהַיֹּדֵעַhay/yo/DE/athat knowsאֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/lethese thingsאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youאֵיןenthere is noneיוֹדֵעַyo/DE/athat knowsאֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/lethese thingsכִּי־אִםki-imsave it beהַשָּׁב׃hash/SHAVthe penitent

    And now behold, my brethren, what natural man is there that knoweth these things? I say unto you, there is none that knoweth these things, save it be the penitent.

    Yea, he that repenteth and exerciseth faith, and bringeth forth good works, and prayeth continually without ceasing—unto such it is given to know the mysteries of God; yea, unto such it shall be given to reveal things which never have been revealed; yea, and it shall be given unto such to bring thousands of souls to repentance, even as it has been given unto us to bring these our brethren to repentance.

    Now do ye remember, my brethren, that we said unto our brethren in the land of Zarahemla, we go up to the land of Nephi, to preach unto our brethren, the Lamanites, and they laughed us to scorn?

    For they said unto us: Do ye suppose that ye can bring the Lamanites to the knowledge of the truth? Do ye suppose that ye can convince the Lamanites of the incorrectness of the traditions of their fathers, as stiffnecked a people as they are; whose hearts delight in the shedding of blood; whose days have been spent in the grossest iniquity; whose ways have been the ways of a transgressor from the beginning? Now my brethren, ye remember that this was their language.

25. 25

    וְעוֹדve/ODand moreoverאָמְרוּa/me/RUthey saidנִשָּׂאnis/SAlet us take upנָאnaI prayכְלֵיkhe/LEarmsמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAof warעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMagainst themוְנַשְׁמִידֵםve/nash/mi/DEMthat we destroy themוְאֶת־עֲוֹנָםve/ET-a/vo/NAMand their iniquityמִן־הָאָרֶץmin-ha/A/retsout of the landפֶּןpenlestיַעֲלוּya/a/LUthey overrunעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuusוְיַשְׁמִידוּנוּ׃ve/yash/mi/du/NUand destroy us

    And moreover they did say: Let us take up arms against them, that we destroy them and their iniquity out of the land, lest they overrun us and destroy us.

26. 26

    אַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenהָאֲהוּבִיםha/a/hu/VIMbelovedבָּאנוּBA/nuwe cameאֶל־הַמִּדְבָּרel-ham/mid/BARinto the wildernessלֹאlonotלְהַשְׁמִידle/hash/MIDto destroyאֶת־אַחֵינוּet-a/CHE/nuour brethrenכִּי־אִםki-imbutאוּלַיu/LAYperhapsנוֹשִׁיעַno/SHI/awe might saveמְעַטme/ATsome fewמִנַּפְשׁוֹתֵיהֶם׃min/naf/sho/te/HEMof their souls

    But behold, my beloved brethren, we came into the wilderness not with the intent to destroy our brethren, but with the intent that perhaps we might save some few of their souls.

27. 27

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenנָפְלוּna/fe/LUwere depressedלִבּוֹתֵינוּlib/bo/te/NUour heartsוַנַּעֲמֹדvan/na/a/MODand we were aboutלָשׁוּבla/SHUVto turn backהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנִחֲמָנוּni/cha/ma/NUcomforted usיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלְכוּle/KHUgoבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revamongאֲחֵיכֶםa/che/KHEMyour brethrenהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesוּשְׂאוּu/se/Uand bearבְאֹרֶךְve/O/rekhwith patienceרוּחַRU/achof spiritאֶת־עׇנְיְכֶםet-on/ye/KHEMyour afflictionsוְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will giveלָכֶםla/KHEMyouהַצְלָחָה׃hats/la/CHAsuccess

    Now when our hearts were depressed, and we were about to turn back, behold, the Lord comforted us, and said: Go amongst thy brethren, the Lamanites, and bear with patience thine afflictions, and I will give unto you success.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבָּאנוּBA/nuwe cameוְהָלַכְנוּve/ha/LAKH/nuand gone forthבְּקִרְבָּםbe/kir/BAMamongst themוְהֶאֱרַכְנוּve/he/e/rakh/NUand we have been patientרוּחַRU/achof spiritבְּעׇנְיֵנוּbe/on/YE/nuin our sufferingsוְסָבַלְנוּve/sa/val/NUand we sufferedכׇּלkoleveryמַחְסוֹרmach/SORprivationאַףafyeaהָלַכְנוּha/LAKH/nuwe traveledמִבַּיִתmib/BA/yitfrom houseאֶלeltoבַּיִתBA/yithouseנִשְׁעָנִיםnish/a/NIMrelyingעַלaluponחַסְדֵיchas/DEthe merciesהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMof the worldלֹאlonotעַלaluponחַסְדֵיchas/DEthe merciesהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMof the worldלְבַדle/VADaloneכִּי־אִםki-imbutעַלaluponחַסְדֵיchas/DEthe merciesאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

    And now behold, we have come, and been forth amongst them; and we have been patient in our sufferings, and we have suffered every privation; yea, we have traveled from house to house, relying upon the mercies of the world—not upon the mercies of the world alone but upon the mercies of God.

29. 29

    וּבָאנוּu/VA/nuand we enteredאֶל־בָּתֵּיהֶםel-bat/te/HEMinto their housesוְלִמַּדְנוּםve/lim/mad/NUMand taught themוְלִמַּדְנוּve/lim/mad/NUand we taughtבִּרְחוֹבוֹתֵיהֶםbir/cho/vo/te/HEMin their streetsהֵןhenyeaוְלִמַּדְנוּve/lim/mad/NUand we taughtעַלaluponגִּבְעוֹתֵיהֶםgiv/o/te/HEMtheir hillsוְגַםve/GAMand alsoבָּאנוּBA/nuwe enteredאֶלelintoהֵיכְלֵיהֶםhe/khe/le/HEMtheir templesוּבָתֵּיu/vat/TEand the housesכִנּוּסָםkhin/nu/SAMof their assemblyוְלִמַּדְנוּםve/lim/mad/NUMand taught themוְגֹרַשְׁנוּve/go/rash/NUand we have been cast outוְלֹעַגְנוּve/lo/ag/NUand mockedוְיָרְקוּve/ya/re/KUand spitעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuupon usוְהֻכֵּינוּve/huk/ke/NUand we were smittenעַל־הַלֶּחִיal-hal/LE/chiupon the cheekוְנִסְקַלְנוּve/nis/kal/NUand we have been stonedוְנִתְפַּשְׂנוּve/nit/pas/NUand takenוְנֶאֱסַרְנוּve/ne/e/sar/NUand boundבַּעֲבוֹתוֹתba/a/vo/TOTwith cordsחֲזָקוֹתcha/za/KOTstrongוְהֻשְׁלַכְנוּve/hush/lakh/NUand have been castלְבֵיתle/VETintoהַכֶּלֶאhak/KE/leprisonוּבְכֹחַu/ve/KHO/achand through the powerוְחׇכְמַתve/chokh/MATand wisdomאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godנִצַּלְנוּnits/TSAL/nuwe have been deliveredשֵׁנִית׃she/NITagain

    And we have entered into their houses and taught them, and we have taught them in their streets; yea, and we have taught them upon their hills; and we have also entered into their temples and their synagogues and taught them; and we have been cast out, and mocked, and spit upon, and smote upon our cheeks; and we have been stoned, and taken and bound with strong cords, and cast into prison; and through the power and wisdom of God we have been delivered again.

30. 30

    וְסָבַלְנוּve/sa/val/NUand we sufferedכׇּל־מִינֵיkol-mi/NEall mannerצָרוֹתtsa/ROTof afflictionsוְכׇל־זֹאתve/KHOL-zotand all thisאוּלַיu/LAYthat perhapsנִהְיֶהnih/YEwe might beכֵלִיםkhe/LIMthe meansלְהוֹשִׁיעַle/ho/SHI/aof savingנֶפֶשׁNE/fesha soulוְחָשַׁבְנוּve/cha/shav/NUand we supposedכִּיkithatתִמָּלֵאtim/ma/LEwould be fullשִׂמְחָתֵנוּsim/cha/te/NUour joyאִםimifאוּלַיu/LAYperchanceנוּכַלnu/KHALwe couldלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTbeכֵלִיםkhe/LIMthe meansלְהוֹשִׁיעַle/ho/SHI/aof savingנֶפֶשׁ׃NE/fesha soul

    And we have suffered all manner of afflictions, and all this, that perhaps we might be the means of saving some soul; and we supposed that our joy would be full if perhaps we could be the means of saving some.

31. 31

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנַבִּיטnab/BITwe can look forthוְנִרְאֶהve/nir/Eand seeאֶת־פְּרִיet-pe/RIthe fruitsעֲמָלֵנוּa/ma/LE/nuof our laborsהַמְעַטham/ATare fewהֵםhemtheyאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youלֹאlonayכִּי־רַבִּיםki-rab/BIMare manyהֵםhemtheyהֵןhenyeaוְנוּכַלve/nu/KHALand we canלְהָעִידle/ha/IDwitnessעַלalofתֻּמָּתָםtum/ma/TAMtheir sincerityמֵאַהֲבָתָםme/a/ha/va/TAMbecause of their loveאֶת־אֲחֵיהֶםet-a/che/HEMtowards their brethrenוְגַםve/GAMand alsoאֹתָנוּ׃o/TA/nutowards us

    Now behold, we can look forth and see the fruits of our labors; and are they few? I say unto you, Nay, they are many; yea, and we can witness of their sincerity, because of their love towards their brethren and also towards us.

32. 32

    כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבָּחֲרוּba/cha/RUthey had ratherלָתֵתla/TETgiveאֶת־חַיֵּיהֶםet-chay/ye/HEMtheir livesוְלֹאve/LOand notלָקַחַתla/KA/chattakeאֶת־נֶפֶשׁet-NE/feshthe lifeאוֹיְבֵיהֶםoy/ve/HEMof their enemyוַיִּטְמְנוּvay/yit/me/NUand they buriedאֶת־כְּלֵיet-ke/LEtheir weaponsמִלְחַמְתָּםmil/cham/TAMof warעָמֹקa/MOKdeepבָּאֲדָמָהba/a/da/MAin the earthמֵאַהֲבָתָםme/a/ha/va/TAMbecause of their loveאֶת־אֲחֵיהֶם׃et-a/che/HEMtowards their brethren

    For behold, they had rather sacrifice their lives than even to take the life of their enemy; and they have buried their weapons of war deep in the earth, because of their love towards their brethren.

33. 33

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youהֶהָיְתָהhe/HAY/tahas there beenאַהֲבָהa/ha/VAloveגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatכָּזֹאתka/ZOTas thisבְּכׇל־הָאָרֶץbe/KHOL-ha/A/retsin all the landהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youלֹאlonayאַףafevenלֹאlonotבֵּיןbenamongהַנֶּפִיִּים׃han/Ne/fiy/YIMthe Nephites

    And now behold I say unto you, has there been so great love in all the land? Behold, I say unto you, Nay, there has not, even among the Nephites.

34. 34

    כִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהֵםhemtheyיִשְׂאוּyis/Uwould take upכְלֵיkhe/LEarmsמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAof warעַל־אֲחֵיהֶםal-a/che/HEMagainst their brethrenוְלֹאve/LOthey would notיִתְּנוּyit/te/NUsufferאֶת־נַפְשָׁםet-naf/SHAMthemselvesלְהֵהָרֵגle/he/ha/REGto be slainאַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdכַּמָּהkam/MAhow manyמֵאֵלֶּהme/EL/leof theseנָתְנוּna/te/NUlaid downאֶת־נַפְשָׁםet-naf/SHAMtheir livesוְיָדַעְנוּve/ya/DA/nuand we knowכִּיkithatהָלְכוּha/le/KHUthey wentאֶל־אֱלֹהֵיהֶםel-e/lo/he/HEMto their Godמֵאַהֲבָתָםme/a/ha/va/TAMbecause of their loveוּמִשִּׂנְאָתָםu/mis/sin/a/TAMand of their hatredאֶת־הַחֵטְא׃et-ha/CHETto sin

    For behold, they would take up arms against their brethren; they would not suffer themselves to be slain. But behold how many of these have laid down their lives; and we know that they have gone to their God, because of their love and of their hatred to sin.

35. 35

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowהַאֵיןha/ENis there notלָנוּLA/nuunto usסִבָּהsib/BAreasonלִשְׂמֹחַlis/MO/achto rejoiceאַףafyeaאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youלֹא־הָיוּlo-ha/YUthere never wereאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהָיָהha/YAthere wasלָהֶםla/HEMunto themסִבָּהsib/BAreasonגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatכָּזֹאתka/ZOTas thisלִשְׂמֹחַlis/MO/achto rejoiceכָּמוֹנוּka/mo/NUas weמֵאָזme/AZsinceהוּסְדָהhus/DAwas foundedתֵּבֵלte/VELthe worldהֵןhenyeaוְנִשְּׂאָהve/nis/se/Aand is carried awayשִׂמְחָתִיsim/cha/TImy joyעַדaduntoלְהִתְהַלֵּלle/hit/hal/LELboastingבֵּאלֹהַיbe/lo/HAYin my Godכִּי־לוֹki-lofor he hasכׇּל־הַכֹּחַkol-hak/KO/achall powerכׇּלkolallהַחׇכְמָהha/chokh/MAwisdomוְכׇלve/KHOLand allהַתְּבוּנָהhat/te/vu/NAunderstandingהוּאhuheמֵבִיןme/VINcomprehendsכׇּל־דָּבָרkol-da/VARall thingsוְהוּאve/HUand he isאֵלela Godרַב־חֶסֶדrav-CHE/sedmercifulאַףafevenלִישׁוּעָהli/shu/Aunto salvationלַשָּׁבִיםlash/sha/VIMto those who will repentוְהַמַּאֲמִינִיםve/ham/ma/a/mi/NIMand believeבִּשְׁמוֹ׃bish/MOon his name

    Now have we not reason to rejoice? Yea, I say unto you, there never were men that had so great reason to rejoice as we, since the world began; yea, and my joy is carried away, even unto boasting in my God; for he has all power, all wisdom, and all understanding; he comprehendeth all things, and he is a merciful Being, even unto salvation, to those who will repent and believe on his name.

36. 36

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowאִםimifהִתְהַלְלוּתhit/hal/LUTboastingהִיאhiisזֹאתzotthisכֵּןkensoאֶתְהַלֵּלet/hal/LELwill I boastכִּי־זֶהki-zefor this isחַיַּיchay/YAYmy lifeוְאוֹרִיve/O/riand my lightשִׂמְחָתִיsim/cha/TImy joyוִישׁוּעָתִיvi/shu/a/TIand my salvationוּגְאֻלַּתu/ge/ul/LATand the redemptionנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHIof my soulמִיָּגוֹןmiy/ya/GONfrom woeעוֹלָמִיםo/la/MIMeverlastingאַףafyeaבָּרוּךְba/RUKHblessed isשֵׁםshemthe nameאֱלֹהַיe/lo/HAYof my Godאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoזָכַרza/KHARhas been mindfulאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMof the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהֵםhemareעָנָףa/NAFa branchמֵעֵץme/ETSof the treeיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELof Israelוְנִכְרַתve/nikh/RATand has been cut offמִגְּוִיָּתוֹmig/ge/viy/ya/TOfrom its bodyבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin a landנׇכְרִיָּהnokh/riy/YAstrangeאַףafyeaאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIבָּרוּךְba/RUKHblessed beשֵׁםshemthe nameאֱלֹהַיe/lo/HAYof my Godאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoזְכָרָנוּze/kha/RA/nuhas been mindful of usנוֹדְדִיםnod/DIMwanderersבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin a landנׇכְרִיָּה׃nokh/riy/YAstrange

    Now if this is boasting, even so will I boast; for this is my life and my light, my joy and my salvation, and my redemption from everlasting wo. Yea, blessed is the name of my God, who has been mindful of this people, who are a branch of the tree of Israel, and has been lost from its body in a strange land; yea, I say, blessed be the name of my God, who has been mindful of us, wanderers in a strange land.

37. 37

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenנִרְאֶהnir/Ewe seeכִּיkithatזוֹכֵרzo/KHERis mindfulאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodכׇּל־עַםkol-amof every peopleבְּכׇל־אֶרֶץbe/KHOL-E/retsin whatsoever landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereinיִהְיוּyih/YUthey may beאַףafyeaמוֹנֶהmo/NEnumbersהוּאhuheאֶת־עַמּוֹet-am/MOhis peopleוְרַחֲמָיוve/ra/cha/MAYVand his mercies areעַל־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץal-kol-ha/A/retsover all the earthוְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowזֹאתzotthis isשִׂמְחָתִיsim/cha/TImy joyוְהוֹדָיָתִיve/ho/da/ya/TIand my thanksgivingהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAgreatהֵןhenyeaוְאוֹדֶהve/o/DEand I will give thanksלֵאלֹהַיle/lo/HAYunto my Godלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverאָמֵן׃a/MENAmen

    Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen.
