   And it came to pass that king Lamoni caused that his servants should stand forth and testify to all the things which they had seen concerning the matter.

   And when they had all testified to the things which they had seen, and he had learned of the faithfulness of Ammon in preserving his flocks, and also of his great power in contending against those who sought to slay him, he was astonished exceedingly, and said: Surely, this is more than a man. Behold, is not this the Great Spirit who doth send such great punishments upon this people, because of their murders?

   And they answered the king, and said: Whether he be the Great Spirit or a man, we know not; but this much we do know, that he cannot be slain by the enemies of the king; neither can they scatter the king’s flocks when he is with us, because of his expertness and great strength; therefore, we know that he is a friend to the king. And now, O king, we do not believe that a man has such great power, for we know he cannot be slain.

   And now, when the king heard these words, he said unto them: Now I know that it is the Great Spirit; and he has come down at this time to preserve your lives, that I might not slay you as I did your brethren. Now this is the Great Spirit of whom our fathers have spoken.

   Now this was the tradition of Lamoni, which he had received from his father, that there was a Great Spirit. Notwithstanding they believed in a Great Spirit, they supposed that whatsoever they did was right; nevertheless, Lamoni began to fear exceedingly, with fear lest he had done wrong in slaying his servants;

   כִּיkiforהָרַגha/RAGhe slewרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמֵהֶםme/HEMof themעַלalbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהֵפִיצוּhe/fi/TSUscatteredאֲחֵיהֶםa/che/HEMtheir brethrenאֶת־עֶדְרֵיהֶםet-ed/re/HEMtheir flocksעַל־מְקוֹםal-me/KOMat the placeהַמָּיִםham/MA/yimof waterוְכֵןve/KHENand thusעַל־הֱיוֹתal-he/YOTbecause they hadעֶדְרֵיהֶםed/re/HEMtheir flocksנְפוֹצִיםne/fo/TSIMscatteredנֶהֱרָגוּ׃ne/he/ra/GUthey were slain

   For he had slain many of them because their brethren had scattered their flocks at the place of water; and thus, because they had had their flocks scattered they were slain.

   וְכֵןve/KHENand thusדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe practiceהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseלַעֲמֹדla/a/MODto standעַל־מֵיal-meby the watersסֶבוּסSE/vusof Sebusלְהָפִיץle/ha/FITSto scatterאֶת־עֶדְרֵיet-ed/REthe flocksהָעָםha/AMof the peopleלְמַעַןle/MA/anthat therebyיִנְהֲגוּyin/ha/GUthey might drive awayרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמִן־הַנְּפוֹצִיםmin-han/ne/fo/TSIMof the scatteredאֶל־אַרְצָםel-ar/TSAMunto their own landוְזֹאתve/ZOTit beingלָהֶםla/HEMunto themלְבַזle/VAZfor plunderוּלְשָׁלָל׃u/le/sha/LALand spoil

   Now it was the practice of these Lamanites to stand by the waters of Sebus to scatter the flocks of the people, that thereby they might drive away many that were scattered unto their own land, it being a practice of plunder among them.

   וַיִּשְׁאַלvay/yish/ALand inquiredלָמוֹנִיLa/MO/niLamoniהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶת־עֲבָדָיוet-a/va/DAYVof his servantsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאַיֵּהay/YEwhere isהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁר־לוֹa/SHER-lothat hasכֹּחַKO/achpowerגָּדוֹלga/DOLso greatכָּזֶה׃ka/ZEas this

   And it came to pass that king Lamoni inquired of his servants, saying: Where is this man that has such great power?

   And they said unto him: Behold, he is feeding thy horses. Now the king had commanded his servants, previous to the time of the watering of their flocks, that they should prepare his horses and chariots, and conduct him forth to the land of Nephi; for there had been a great feast appointed at the land of Nephi, by the father of Lamoni, who was king over all the land.

    Now when king Lamoni heard that Ammon was preparing his horses and his chariots he was more astonished, because of the faithfulness of Ammon, saying: Surely there has not been any servant among all my servants that has been so faithful as this man; for even he doth remember all my commandments to execute them.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowיָדֹעַya/DO/asurelyיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowכִּיkithatהוּאhuthis isהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe SpiritהַגְּדוֹלָהHag/ge/do/LAGreatוְחָפַצְתִּיve/cha/FATS/tiand I would desireכִּיkithatיָבֹאya/VOhe come inאֵלַיe/LAYunto meאַךְakhbutלֹא־מְלָאַנִיlo-me/la/a/NII durst notלִבִּי׃lib/BImy heart

    Now I surely know that this is the Great Spirit, and I would desire him that he come in unto me, but I durst not.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenהֵכִיןhe/KHINmade readyעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonאֶת־הַסּוּסִיםet-has/su/SIMthe horsesוְאֶת־הַמַּרְכָּבוֹתve/ET-ham/mar/ka/VOTand the chariotsלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhfor the kingוְלַעֲבָדָיוve/la/a/va/DAYVand his servantsוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOhe went inאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhunto the kingוַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawכִּיkithatנֶהֶפְכוּne/hef/KHUwas changedפְּנֵיpe/NEthe countenanceהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhof the kingוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand he was aboutלָשׁוּבla/SHUVto returnמִלְּפָנָיו׃mil/le/fa/NAYVout of his presence

    And it came to pass that when Ammon had made ready the horses and the chariots for the king and his servants, he went in unto the king, and he saw that the countenance of the king was changed; therefore he was about to return out of his presence.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himאֶחָדe/CHADoneמֵעַבְדֵיme/av/DEof the servantsהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhof the kingרַבָּנָהRab/BA/naRabbanahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isמְפֹרָשׁme/fo/RASHbeing interpretedמֶלֶךְME/lekhkingאַדִּירad/DIRpowerfulאוֹoorמֶלֶךְME/lekhkingגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatכִּיkiforחָשְׁבוּcha/she/VUthey consideredאֶת־מַלְכֵיהֶםet-mal/khe/HEMtheir kingsלְאַדִּירִיםle/ad/di/RIMto be powerfulוְכֵןve/KHENand thusאָמַרa/MARhe saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himרַבָּנָהRab/BA/naRabbanahהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingחָפֵץcha/FETSdesiresכִּיkithatתַעֲמֹד׃ta/a/MODyou stay

    And one of the king’s servants said unto him, Rabbanah, which is, being interpreted, powerful or great king, considering their kings to be powerful; and thus he said unto him: Rabbanah, the king desireth thee to stay.

    וַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fentherefore turned himselfעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhunto the kingוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himמָהmawhatחֶפְצְךָchef/tse/KHAis your desireכִּיkithatאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEI should doלְךָle/KHAfor youהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhO kingוְלֹא־עָנָהוּve/LO-a/NA/huand answered him notהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingכְּשָׁעָהke/sha/Afor the space of an hourאַחַתa/CHAToneכְּפִיke/FIaccording toעִתָּםit/TAMtheir timeכִּיkiforלֹאlonotיָדַעya/DAhe knewמַה־יֹּאמַרma-YO/marwhat he should sayאֵלָיו׃e/LAYVunto him

    Therefore Ammon turned himself unto the king, and said unto him: What wilt thou that I should do for thee, O king? And the king answered him not for the space of an hour, according to their time, for he knew not what he should say unto him.

    וַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/mersaidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himמַה־תְּבַקֵּשׁma-te/vak/KESHwhat desire youמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/niof meוְהַמֶּלֶךְve/ham/ME/lekhbut the kingלֹאlonotעָנָהוּ׃a/NA/huanswered him

    And it came to pass that Ammon said unto him again: What desirest thou of me? But the king answered him not.

    And it came to pass that Ammon, being filled with the Spirit of God, therefore he perceived the thoughts of the king. And he said unto him: Is it because thou hast heard that I defended thy servants and thy flocks, and slew seven of their brethren with the sling and with the sword, and smote off the arms of others, in order to defend thy flocks and thy servants; behold, is it this that causeth thy marvelings?

    I say unto you, what is it, that thy marvelings are so great? Behold, I am a man, and am thy servant; therefore, whatsoever thou desirest which is right, that will I do.

    Now when the king had heard these words, he marveled again, for he beheld that Ammon could discern his thoughts; but notwithstanding this, king Lamoni did open his mouth, and said unto him: Who art thou? Art thou that Great Spirit, who knows all things?

    Ammon answered and said unto him: I am not.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֵיךְekhhowיָדַעְתָּya/DA/taknow youאֶת־מַחְשְׁבוֹתet-mach/she/VOTthe thoughtsלִבִּיlib/BIof my heartדַּבֵּרdab/BERspeakבְּעֹזbe/OZboldlyוְהַגֶּד־לִיve/hag/GED-liand tell meעַל־הַדְּבָרִיםal-had/de/va/RIMconcerning the thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוְגַםve/GAMand alsoהַגֶּד־לִיhag/GED-litell meבְּאֵי־זֶהbe/E-zeby whatכֹחַKHO/achpowerהָרַגְתָּha/RAG/tayou slewוְקִצַּצְתָּve/kits/tsats/TAand smote offזְרֹעוֹתze/ro/OTthe armsאַחַיa/CHAYof my brethrenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהֵפִיצוּhe/fi/TSUscatteredאֶת־עֲדָרַי׃et-a/da/RAYmy flocks

    And the king said: How knowest thou the thoughts of my heart? Thou mayest speak boldly, and tell me concerning these things; and also tell me by what power ye slew and smote off the arms of my brethren that scattered my flocks—

21. 21

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאִם־תַּגִּידim-tag/GIDif you will tellלִיlimeעַל־הַדְּבָרִיםal-had/de/va/RIMconcerning the thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERwhatsoeverתַּחְפֹּץtach/POTSyou desireאֶתֵּןet/TENI will giveלְךָle/KHAyouוְאִםve/IMand ifיִהְיֶהyih/YEit wereצֹרֶךְTSO/rekhneededאֶשְׁמֹרesh/MORI would guardעָלֶיךָa/LE/khayouבְּצִבְאוֹתַיbe/tsiv/o/TAYwith my armiesאַךְakhbutיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowכִּיkithatאַדִּירad/DIRmore powerfulאַתָּהat/TAyou areמִכֻּלָּםmik/kul/LAMthan all theyוּבְכׇל־זֹאתu/ve/KHOL-zotneverthelessכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERwhatsoeverתְּבַקֵּשׁte/vak/KESHyou desireמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/niof meאֶתֵּןet/TENI will grantלָךְ׃lakhyou

    And now, if thou wilt tell me concerning these things, whatsoever thou desirest I will give unto thee; and if it were needed, I would guard thee with my armies; but I know that thou art more powerful than all they; nevertheless, whatsoever thou desirest of me I will grant it unto thee.

    וְעַמּוֹןve/Am/MONnow Ammonחָכָםcha/KHAMwiseהָיָהha/YAbeingוְתָםve/TAMyet harmlessוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merhe saidאֶל־לָמוֹנִיel-La/MO/niunto Lamoniהֲתִשְׁמַעha/tish/MAwill you hearkenאֶל־דְּבָרַיel-de/va/RAYunto my wordsאִםimifאַגִּידag/GIDI tellלְךָle/KHAyouבְּאֵי־זֶהbe/E-zeby whatכֹחַKHO/achpowerאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEI doאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוְזֶהve/ZEand this isהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֲנִיa/NIIמְבַקֵּשׁme/vak/KESHdesireמִמֶּךָּ׃mim/MEK/kaof you

    Now Ammon being wise, yet harmless, he said unto Lamoni: Wilt thou hearken unto my words, if I tell thee by what power I do these things? And this is the thing that I desire of thee.

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredאֹתוֹo/TOhimהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidכֵּןkenyeaאַאֲמִיןa/a/MINI will believeבְּכׇל־דְּבָרֶיךָbe/KHOL-de/va/RE/khaall your wordsוְכֵןve/KHENand thusנִלְכַּדnil/KADhe was caughtבְּעׇרְמָה׃be/or/MAwith guile

    And the king answered him, and said: Yea, I will believe all thy words. And thus he was caught with guile.

24. 24

    וַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himבְּעֹזbe/OZwith boldnessוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himהֲתַאֲמִיןha/ta/a/MINbelieve youכִּיkithatיֵשׁyeshthere isאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMa God

    And Ammon began to speak unto him with boldness, and said unto him: Believest thou that there is a God?

25. 25

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himלֹאlonotיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowמַה־פִּתְרוֹןma-pit/RONwhat meansזֹאת׃zotthat

    And he answered, and said unto him: I do not know what that meaneth.

26. 26

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand then saidעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonהֲתַאֲמִיןha/ta/a/MINbelieve youכִּיkithatיֵשׁyeshthere isרוּחַRU/acha Spiritגְּדוֹלָה׃Ge/do/LAGreat

    And then Ammon said: Believest thou that there is a Great Spirit?

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidהֵן׃henyea

    And he said, Yea.

28. 28

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonזֶהzethisהוּאhuisהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himהֲתַאֲמִיןha/ta/a/MINbelieve youכִּיkithatהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/Ge/do/LAthe Greatהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוּאhuisאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבָּרָאba/RAcreatedאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall things which areבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin heavenוּבָאָרֶץ׃u/va/A/retsand in the earth

    And Ammon said: This is God. And Ammon said unto him again: Believest thou that this Great Spirit, who is God, created all things which are in heaven and in the earth?

29. 29

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidכֵּןkenyeaאַאֲמִיןa/a/MINI believeכִּיkithatבָרָאva/RAhe createdאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall things which areבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the earthאַךְakhbutאֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִםet-hash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensלֹאlonotיָדָעְתִּי׃ya/DA/tiI know

    And he said: Yea, I believe that he created all things which are in the earth; but I do not know the heavens.

30. 30

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensמָקוֹםma/KOMis a placeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereשָׁםshamthereיִשְׁכֹּןyish/KONdwellsאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְכׇל־מַלְאֲכֵיve/KHOL-mal/a/KHEand all the angelsקׇדְשׁוֹ׃kod/SHOof his holiness

    And Ammon said unto him: The heavens is a place where God dwells and all his holy angels.

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָמוֹנִיLa/MO/niLamoniהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהֲמִמַּעַלha/mim/MA/alis it aboveלָאָרֶץla/A/retsthe earthהוּא׃huit

    And king Lamoni said: Is it above the earth?

32. 32

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonהֵןhenyeaוְהוּאve/HUand heמַשְׁקִיףmash/KIFlooks downעַל־כׇּל־בְּנֵיal-kol-be/NEupon all the childrenהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof menוְיֹדֵעַve/yo/DE/aand he knowsאֶת־כׇּל־מַחְשְׁבוֹתet-kol-mach/she/VOTall the thoughtsוְיִצְרֵיve/yits/REand intentsהַלֵּבhal/LEVof the heartכִּיkiforבְיָדוֹve/ya/DOby his handנִבְרְאוּniv/re/Uwere createdכֻלָּםkhul/LAMthey allמֵרֵאשִׁית׃me/re/SHITfrom the beginning

    And Ammon said: Yea, and he looketh down upon all the children of men; and he knows all the thoughts and intents of the heart; for by his hand were they all created from the beginning.

33. 33

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָמוֹנִיLa/MO/niLamoniהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאַאֲמִיןa/a/MINI believeבְּכׇל־הַדְּבָרִיםbe/KHOL-had/de/va/RIMall the thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבַּרְתָּdib/BAR/tayou spokeהֲשָׁלוּחַha/sha/LU/achare sentאַתָּהat/TAyouמֵאֵתme/ETfromאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    And king Lamoni said: I believe all these things which thou hast spoken. Art thou sent from God?

34. 34

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/mersaidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonאִישׁisha manאֲנִיa/NII amוְהָאָדָםve/ha/a/DAMand manבְּרֵאשִׁיתbe/re/SHITin the beginningנִבְרָאniv/RAwas createdבְּצֶלֶםbe/TSE/lemafter the imageאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iקָרוּאka/RUam calledבְּרוּחַ־קׇדְשׁוֹbe/RU/ach-kod/SHOby his Holy Spiritלְלַמֵּדle/lam/MEDto teachאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseלָעָםla/AMunto the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיוּבְאוּyuv/Uthey may be broughtלְדַעַתle/DA/atto a knowledgeאֶת־הַיָּשָׁרet-hay/ya/SHARof that which is justוְהָאֱמֶת׃ve/ha/e/METand true

    Ammon said unto him: I am a man; and man in the beginning was created after the image of God, and I am called by his Holy Spirit to teach these things unto this people, that they may be brought to a knowledge of that which is just and true;

35. 35

    וְחֵלֶקve/CHE/lekand a portionמֵהָרוּחַme/Ha/RU/achof the Spiritהַהוּאha/HUthatשֹׁכֵןsho/KHENdwellsבִּיbiin meהַנֹּתֵןhan/no/TENwhich givesלִיlimeדַּעַתDA/atknowledgeוְגַםve/GAMand alsoכֹּחַKO/achpowerכְּפִיke/FIaccording toאֱמוּנָתִיe/mu/na/TImy faithוּמִשְׁאֲלוֹתַיu/mish/a/lo/TAYand desiresאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich areבֵּאלֹהִים׃be/lo/HIMin God

    And a portion of that Spirit dwelleth in me, which giveth me knowledge, and also power according to my faith and desires which are in God.

36. 36

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכְּכַלּוֹתke/khal/LOTwhen endedעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/chelhe beganמִבְּרִיאַתmib/be/ri/ATat the creationהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMof the worldוְגַםve/GAMand alsoמִבְּרִיאַתmib/be/ri/ATthe creationאָדָםA/DAMof Adamוַיַּגֵּדvay/yag/GEDand toldלוֹlohimאֶת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the thingsעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARconcerningנְפִילַתne/fi/LATthe fallהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof manוַיְסַפֵּרvay/sap/PERand rehearsedוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand laidלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himאֶת־הַסְּפָרִיםet-has/se/fa/RIMthe recordsוְאֶת־כִּתְבֵיve/ET-kit/VEand the scripturesהַקֹּדֶשׁhak/KO/deshholyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלָעָםla/AMbelonged to the peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבְּרוּdib/be/RUspokeהַנְּבִיאִיםhan/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsעַד־הָעֵתad-ha/ETeven down to the timeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָצָאya/TSAleftלֶחִיLE/chiLehiאֲבִיהֶםa/vi/HEMtheir fatherמִירוּשָׁלָיִם׃Mi/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalem

    Now when Ammon had said these words, he began at the creation of the world, and also the creation of Adam, and told him all the things concerning the fall of man, and rehearsed and laid before him the records and the holy scriptures of the people, which had been spoken by the prophets, even down to the time that their father, Lehi, left Jerusalem.

37. 37

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoסִפֵּרsip/PERhe rehearsedלָהֶםla/HEMunto themכִּיkiforלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhunto the kingוְלַעֲבָדָיוve/la/a/va/DAYVand his servantsהָיָהha/YAit wasאֶת־כׇּל־מַסְעֵיet-kol-mas/Eall the journeyingsאֲבוֹתָםa/vo/TAMof their fathersבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessוְאֶת־כׇּל־עׇנְיָםve/ET-kol-on/YAMand all their sufferingsבָּרָעָבba/ra/AVwith hungerוּבַצָּמָאu/vats/tsa/MAand thirstוְאֶת־תְּלָאוֹתָםve/ET-te/la/o/TAMand their travailוְכָהֵנָּהve/kha/HEN/naand such likeוְכָהֵנָּה׃ve/kha/HEN/naand such like

    And he also rehearsed unto them (for it was unto the king and to his servants) all the journeyings of their fathers in the wilderness, and all their sufferings with hunger and thirst, and their travail, and so forth.

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoסִפֵּרsip/PERhe rehearsedלָהֶםla/HEMunto themעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARconcerningמְרִיme/RIthe rebellionsלָמָןLA/Manof Lamanוּלְמוּאֵלu/Le/mu/ELand Lemuelוּבְנֵיu/ve/NEand the sonsיִשְׁמָעֵאלYish/ma/ELof Ishmaelאַףafyeaאֶת־כׇּל־מִרְיָםet-kol-mir/YAMall their rebellionsהִגִּידhig/GIDdid he relateלָהֶםla/HEMunto themוַיְבָאֵרvay/va/ERand he expoundedלָהֶםla/HEMunto themאֶת־כׇּל־הַסְּפָרִיםet-kol-has/se/fa/RIMall the recordsוְהַכְּתוּבִיםve/hak/ke/tu/VIMand scripturesלְמִן־הָעֵתle/MIN-ha/ETfrom the timeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָצָאya/TSAleftלֶחִיLE/chiLehiמִירוּשָׁלַיִםMi/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemעַד־הַיּוֹםad-hay/YOMdown to the dayהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    And he also rehearsed unto them concerning the rebellions of Laman and Lemuel, and the sons of Ishmael, yea, all their rebellions did he relate unto them; and he expounded unto them all the records and scriptures from the time that Lehi left Jerusalem down to the present time.

39. 39

    אַךְakhbutלֹא־זֹאתlo-zotthis is notלְבַדle/VADallכִּיkiforבֵאֵרve/ERhe expoundedלָהֶםla/HEMunto themאֶת־עֲצַתet-a/TSATthe planהַגְּאֻלָּהhag/ge/ul/LAof redemptionאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהוּכְנָהhukh/NAwas preparedמִמּוֹסְדוֹתmim/mos/DOTfrom the foundationהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMof the worldוְגַםve/GAMand alsoהוֹדִיעַho/DI/ahe made knownלָהֶםla/HEMunto themעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARconcerningבּוֹאbothe comingהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achof Christוְאֶת־כׇּל־מַעֲשֵׂיve/ET-kol-ma/a/SEand all the worksיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiהוֹדִיעַho/DI/adid he make knownלָהֶם׃la/HEMunto them

    But this is not all; for he expounded unto them the plan of redemption, which was prepared from the foundation of the world; and he also made known unto them concerning the coming of Christ, and all the works of the Lord did he make known unto them.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterדַבְּרוֹdab/be/ROhe saidאֶת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוּבָאֲרוֹu/va/a/ROand expoundedאֹתָםo/TAMthemלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhto the kingוַיַּאֲמֵןvay/ya/a/MENthat believedהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingבְּכׇל־דְּבָרָיו׃be/KHOL-de/va/RAYVall his words

    And it came to pass that after he had said all these things, and expounded them to the king, that the king believed all his words.

41. 41

    וַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland he beganלִזְעֹקliz/OKto cryאֶל־יְהוָהel-Adonaiunto Adonaiלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאָנָּאan/NAOיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiרַחֵםra/CHEMhave mercyנָאnaI prayכְּרֹבke/ROVaccording to the abundanceרַחֲמֶיךָra/cha/ME/khaof your mercyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichרִחַמְתָּri/cham/TAyou hadעַל־עַםal-amupon the peopleנֶפִיNE/fiof Nephiכֵּןkensoרַחֵםra/CHEMhave mercyגַּםgamalsoעָלַיa/LAYupon meוְעַל־עַמִּי׃ve/AL-am/MIand my people

    And he began to cry unto the Lord, saying: O Lord, have mercy; according to thy abundant mercy which thou hast had upon the people of Nephi, have upon me, and my people.

42. 42

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכְּכַלּוֹתוֹke/khal/lo/TOwhen he endedלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingאֶת־זֹאתet-zotthisוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLhe fellאַרְצָהAR/tsaunto the earthכְּאִישׁke/ISHas a manמֵת׃metdead

    And now, when he had said this, he fell unto the earth, as if he were dead.

43. 43

    וַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand tookאֹתוֹo/TOhimעֲבָדָיוa/va/DAYVhis servantsוַיְבִיאֻהוּvay/vi/U/huand carried himאֶל־אִשְׁתּוֹel-ish/TOin unto his wifeוַיַּשְׁכִּיבֻהוּvay/yash/ki/VU/huand laid himעַל־הַמִּטָּהal-ham/mit/TAupon a bedוַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVand he layכְּמֵתke/METas deadיוֹמַיִםyo/MA/yimtwo daysוּשְׁנֵיu/she/NEand twoלֵילוֹתle/LOTnightsוַיִּסְפְּדוּvay/yis/pe/DUand mournedעָלָיוa/LAYVover himאִשְׁתּוֹish/TOhis wifeוּבָנָיוu/va/NAYVand his sonsוּבְנֹתָיוu/ve/no/TAYVand his daughtersכְּמִשְׁפַּטke/mish/PATafter the mannerהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesוַיְקוֹנְנוּvay/kon/NUlamentingמְאֹדme/ODgreatlyעַל־אׇבְדָנוֹ׃al-ov/da/NOover his loss

    And it came to pass that his servants took him and carried him in unto his wife, and laid him upon a bed; and he lay as if he were dead for the space of two days and two nights; and his wife, and his sons, and his daughters mourned over him, after the manner of the Lamanites, greatly lamenting his loss.
