   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכְּכַלּוֹתוֹke/khal/lo/TOwhen he endedלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakingאֶל־הָעָםel-ha/AMunto the peopleוַיַּאֲמִינוּvay/ya/a/MI/nuand believedרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמֵהֶםme/HEMof themבִּדְבָרָיוbid/va/RAYVin his wordsוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganלָשׁוּבla/SHUVto repentוְלִדְרֹשׁve/lid/ROSHand to searchאֶת־הַכְּתוּבִים׃et-hak/ke/tu/VIMthe scriptures

   And it came to pass after he had made an end of speaking unto the people many of them did believe on his words, and began to repent, and to search the scriptures.

   But the more part of them were desirous that they might destroy Alma and Amulek; for they were angry with Alma, because of the plainness of his words unto Zeezrom; and they also said that Amulek had lied unto them, and had reviled against their law and also against their lawyers and judges.

   And they were also angry with Alma and Amulek; and because they had testified so plainly against their wickedness, they sought to put them away privily.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notעָשׂוּa/SUthey didכֵןkhensoכִּי־אִםki-imbutתְּפָשׂוּםte/fa/SUMthey took themוַיַּאַסְרוּםvay/ya/as/RUMand bound themבַּעֲבֹתוֹתba/a/vo/TOTwith cordsחֲזָקוֹתcha/za/KOTstrongוַיְבִיאוּםvay/vi/UMand they brought themלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַשֹּׁפֵטhash/sho/FETthe judgeהָרֹאשׁha/ROSHthe chiefבָּאָרֶץ׃ba/A/retsof the land

   But it came to pass that they did not; but they took them and bound them with strong cords, and took them before the chief judge of the land.

   And the people went forth and witnessed against them—testifying that they had reviled against the law, and their lawyers and judges of the land, and also of all the people that were in the land; and also testified that there was but one God, and that he should send his Son among the people, but he should not save them; and many such things did the people testify against Alma and Amulek. Now this was done before the chief judge of the land.

   And it came to pass that Zeezrom was astonished at the words which had been spoken; and he also knew concerning the blindness of the minds, which he had caused among the people by his lying words; and his soul began to be harrowed up under a consciousness of his own guilt; yea, he began to be encircled about by the pains of hell.

   And it came to pass that he began to cry unto the people, saying: Behold, I am guilty, and these men are spotless before God. And he began to plead for them from that time forth; but they reviled him, saying: Art thou also possessed with the devil? And they spit upon him, and cast him out from among them, and also all those who believed in the words which had been spoken by Alma and Amulek; and they cast them out, and sent men to cast stones at them.

   וַיַּקְהִילוּvay/yak/hi/LUand they gatheredאֶת־נְשֵׁיהֶםet-ne/she/HEMtheir wivesוְיַלְדֵיהֶםve/yal/de/HEMand childrenוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand whosoeverהֶאֱמִיןhe/e/MINbelievedאוֹoorלֻמַּדlum/MADhad been taughtלְהַאֲמִיןle/ha/a/MINto believeבִּדְבַרbid/VARin the wordאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוַיְצַוּוּvay/tsav/VUand causedלְהַשְׁלִיכָםle/hash/li/KHAMthat they should be castבָּאֵשׁba/ESHinto the fireוְגַםve/GAMand alsoהֵבִיאוּhe/VI/uthey brought forthאֶת־סִפְרֵיהֶםet-sif/re/HEMtheir recordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהֵכִילוּhe/khi/LUcontainedאֶת־כִּתְבֵיet-kit/VEthe scripturesהַקֹּדֶשׁhak/KO/deshholyוַיַּשְׁלִיכוּםvay/yash/li/KHUMand cast themגַּם־הֵםgam-hemalsoבָּאֵשׁba/ESHinto the fireלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִשָּׂרְפוּyis/sa/re/FUthey might be burnedוְיֻשְׁמְדוּve/yush/me/DUand destroyedבָאֵשׁ׃va/ESHby fire

   And they brought their wives and children together, and whosoever believed or had been taught to believe in the word of God they caused that they should be cast into the fire; and they also brought forth their records which contained the holy scriptures, and cast them into the fire also, that they might be burned and destroyed by fire.

   וַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookאֶת־אַלְמָאet-AL/maAlmaוַעֲמוּלֶקva/A/mu/lekand Amulekוַיּוֹלִיכוּםvay/yo/li/KHUMand carried themאֶל־מְקוֹםel-me/KOMforth to the placeהַשְּׂרֵפָהhas/se/re/FAof the burningלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִרְאוּyir/Uthey might witnessאֶת־אׇבְדַןet-ov/DANthe destructionהַנִּשְׂרָפִיםhan/nis/ra/FIMof those who were consumedבָּאֵשׁ׃ba/ESHby fire

   And it came to pass that they took Alma and Amulek, and carried them forth to the place of martyrdom, that they might witness the destruction of those who were consumed by fire.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּרְאוֹתkir/OTwhen sawעֲמוּלֶקA/mu/lekAmulekאֶת־מַכְאֹבֵיet-makh/o/VEthe painsהַנָּשִׁיםhan/na/SHIMof the womenוְהַיְלָדִיםve/hay/la/DIMand childrenהַנִּשְׂרָפִיםhan/nis/ra/FIMwho were consumingבָּאֵשׁba/ESHin the fireוַיִּכָּאֵבvay/yik/ka/EVhe was painedגַּם־הוּאgam-hualsoוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־אַלְמָאel-AL/maunto Almaאֵיךְekhhowנוּכַלnu/KHALcan weלִרְאוֹתlir/OTwitnessבַּמַּרְאֶהbam/mar/Ethe sceneהַנּוֹרָאhan/no/RAthe awfulהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeנִשְׁלַחnish/LACHlet us stretch forthאֶת־יָדֵינוּet-ya/DE/nuour handsוְנַעֲשֶׂהve/na/a/SEand exerciseבְכֹחַve/KHO/achthe powerאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isבָּנוּBA/nuin usוְנוֹשִׁיעֵםve/no/shi/EMand save themמִן־הַלֶּהָבוֹת׃min-hal/le/ha/VOTfrom the flames

    And when Amulek saw the pains of the women and children who were consuming in the fire, he also was pained; and he said unto Alma: How can we witness this awful scene? Therefore let us stretch forth our hands, and exercise the power of God which is in us, and save them from the flames.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritיַעַצְרֵנִיya/ats/re/NIconstrains meפֶּן־אֶשְׁלַחpen-esh/LACHlest I stretch forthיָדִיya/DImy handכִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiמְקַבְּלָםme/kab/be/LAMreceives themאֵלָיוe/LAYVup unto himselfבְּכָבוֹדbe/kha/VODin gloryוְהוּאve/HUand Heמַנִּיחַman/NI/achsuffersלָהֶםla/HEMthat theyלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTmay doהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאוֹoorכִּיkithatיַעֲשׂוּya/a/SUmight doהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלָהֶםla/HEMunto themכִּקְשִׁיkik/SHIaccording to the hardnessלִבָּםlib/BAMof their heartsלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִצְדְּקוּyits/de/KUmight be justהַמִּשְׁפָּטִיםham/mish/pa/TIMthe judgmentsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEhe shall exerciseבָםvamupon themבַּחֲרוֹןba/cha/RONin the fiercenessאַפּוֹap/POof his wrathוְדַםve/DAMand the bloodהַנְּקִיִּיםhan/ne/kiy/YIMof the innocentיַעֲמֹדya/a/MODshall standלְעֵדle/EDas a witnessנֶגְדָּםneg/DAMagainst themוְיִזְעַקve/yiz/AKand shall cryבְּחׇזְקָהbe/choz/KAmightilyנֶגְדָּםneg/DAMagainst themבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMat the dayהָאַחֲרוֹן׃ha/a/cha/RONthe last

    But Alma said unto him: The Spirit constraineth me that I must not stretch forth mine hand; for behold the Lord receiveth them up unto himself, in glory; and he doth suffer that they may do this thing, or that the people may do this thing unto them, according to the hardness of their hearts, that the judgments which he shall exercise upon them in his wrath may be just; and the blood of the innocent shall stand as a witness against them, yea, and cry mightily against them at the last day.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidעֲמוּלֶקA/mu/lekAmulekאֶל־אַלְמָאel-AL/maunto Almaהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאוּלַיu/LAYperhapsיִשְׂרְפוּyis/re/FUthey will burnגַּם־אֹתָנוּ׃gam-o/TA/nuus also

    Now Amulek said unto Alma: Behold, perhaps they will burn us also.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaיְהִיye/HIbe itכִּרְצוֹןkir/TSONaccording to the willיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiאַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdמְלַאכְתֵּנוּme/lakh/te/NUour workלֹאlois notנִגְמְרָהnig/me/RAfinishedעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeלֹאlonotיִשְׂרְפוּנוּ׃yis/re/fu/NUthey burn us

    And Alma said: Be it according to the will of the Lord. But, behold, our work is not finished; therefore they burn us not.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenכָּלוּka/LUwere consumedגְּוִיּוֹתge/viy/YOTthe bodiesהַמֻּשְׁלָכִיםham/mush/la/KHIMof those who had been castבָּאֵשׁba/ESHinto the fireוְגַםve/GAMand alsoהַסְּפָרִיםhas/se/fa/RIMthe recordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהֻשְׁלְכוּhush/le/KHUwere cast inעִמָּםim/MAMwith themוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOthat cameהַשֹּׁפֵטhash/sho/FETthe judgeהָרֹאשׁha/ROSHthe chiefבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsof the landוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaוַעֲמוּלֶקva/A/mu/lekand Amulekוְהֵםve/HEMas they wereאֲסוּרִיםa/su/RIMboundוַיַּכֵּםvay/yak/KEMand he smote themעַל־הַלֶּחִיal-hal/LE/chiupon their cheeksבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOwith his handוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhatרְאִיתֶםre/i/TEMyou sawהֲתִדְרְשׁוּha/tid/re/SHUwill you preachעוֹדodagainלָעָםla/AMunto the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּיkithatיֻשְׁלְכוּyush/le/KHUthey shall be castבַּאֲגַם־אֵשׁba/a/GAM-eshinto a lake of fireוְגׇפְרִית׃ve/gof/RITand brimstone

    Now it came to pass that when the bodies of those who had been cast into the fire were consumed, and also the records which were cast in with them, the chief judge of the land came and stood before Alma and Amulek, as they were bound; and he smote them with his hand upon their cheeks, and said unto them: After what ye have seen, will ye preach again unto this people, that they shall be cast into a lake of fire and brimstone?

    Behold, ye see that ye had not power to save those who had been cast into the fire; neither has God saved them because they were of thy faith. And the judge smote them again upon their cheeks, and asked: What say ye for yourselves?

    וְהַשֹּׁפֵטve/hash/sho/FETnow the judgeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisהָיָהha/YAwasעַל־פִּיal-piafterדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe orderוֶאֱמוּנַתve/e/mu/NATand faithנֵהוֹרNE/horof Nehorאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָרַגha/RAGslewאֶת־גִּדְעוֹן׃et-Gid/ONGideon

    Now this judge was after the order and faith of Nehor, who slew Gideon.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaוַעֲמוּלֶקva/A/mu/lekand Amulekלֹאlodid notעָנוּהוּa/nu/HUanswer himדָבָרda/VARa wordוַיַּכֵּםvay/yak/KEMand he smote themשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainוַיִּתְּנֵםvay/yit/te/NEMand delivered themבְּיַדbe/YADinto the handsהַשּׁוֹטְרִיםhash/shot/RIMof the officersלְהַשְׁלִיכָםle/hash/li/KHAMto be castלְבֵיתle/VETintoהַכֶּלֶא׃hak/KE/leprison

    And it came to pass that Alma and Amulek answered him nothing; and he smote them again, and delivered them to the officers to be cast into prison.

    And when they had been cast into prison three days, there came many lawyers, and judges, and priests, and teachers, who were of the profession of Nehor; and they came in unto the prison to see them, and they questioned them about many words; but they answered them nothing.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatעָמַדa/MADstoodהַשֹּׁפֵטhash/sho/FETthe judgeלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָמָּהLAM/mawhyלֹאlodo you notתַעֲנוּta/a/NUanswerאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe wordsהָעָם־הַזֶּהha/AM-haz/ZEof this peopleהֲלֹאha/LOdo you notיְדַעְתֶּםye/da/TEMknowכִּיkithatיֶשׁ־לִיyesh-liI haveכֹחַKHO/achpowerלְהַסְגִּירְכֶםle/has/gi/re/KHEMto deliver you upלַלֶּהָבוֹתlal/le/ha/VOTunto the flamesוַיְצַוֵּםvay/tsav/VEMand he commanded themלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakוְהֵםve/HEMbut theyלֹאlonotעָנוּa/NUansweredדָבָר׃da/VARa word

    And it came to pass that the judge stood before them, and said: Why do ye not answer the words of this people? Know ye not that I have power to deliver you up unto the flames? And he commanded them to speak; but they answered nothing.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהָלְכוּha/le/KHUthey departedלְדַרְכָּםle/dar/KAMwent their waysוַיָּשׁוּבוּvay/ya/SHU/vubut came againמִמׇּחֳרָתmim/mo/cho/RATon the morrowוַיַּכֵּםvay/yak/KEMand smote themהַשֹּׁפֵטhash/sho/FETthe judgeשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainעַל־הַלֶּחִיal-hal/LE/chiupon their cheeksוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand there cameרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוַיַּכּוּםvay/yak/KUMand smote themלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהֲתַעַמְדוּha/ta/am/DUwill you standעוֹדodagainלִשְׁפֹּטlish/POTjudgeאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוּלְהַרְשִׁיעַu/le/har/SHI/aand condemnאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטֵנוּet-mish/pa/te/NUour lawאִם־יֵשׁim-yeshif there isלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youכֹּחַKO/achpowerגָּדוֹלga/DOLso greatכָּזֶהka/ZEas thisלָמָּהLAM/mawhyלֹאlodo you notתַצִּילוּtats/tsi/LUdeliverאֶת־נַפְשְׁכֶם׃et-naf/she/KHEMyourselves

    And it came to pass that they departed and went their ways, but came again on the morrow; and the judge also smote them again on their cheeks. And many came forth also, and smote them, saying: Will ye stand again and judge this people, and condemn our law? If ye have such great power why do ye not deliver yourselves?

21. 21

    וְכָהֵנָּהve/kha/HEN/naand such likeרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyאָמְרוּa/me/RUdid they sayאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themחֹרְקִיםchor/KIMgnashingשִׁנֵּיהֶםshin/ne/HEMtheir teethעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themוְרֹקְקִיםve/rok/KIMand spittingעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themוְאֹמְרִיםve/om/RIMand sayingאֵיךְekhhowנִרְאֶהnir/Eshall we lookבְּהֵרָשְׁעֵנוּ׃be/he/ra/she/e/NUwhen we are damned

    And many such things did they say unto them, gnashing their teeth upon them, and spitting upon them, and saying: How shall we look when we are damned?

22. 22

    וְכָהֵנָּהve/kha/HEN/naand such likeרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyאַףafyeaכׇּל־מִינֵיkol-mi/NEall mannerדְבָרִיםde/va/RIMof thingsכָּאֵלֶּהka/EL/lesuch as theseאָמְרוּa/me/RUdid they sayאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themוְכֵןve/KHENand thusלָעֲגוּla/a/GUdid they mockבָםvamthemיָמִיםya/MIMfor daysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוַיִּמְנְעוּvay/yim/ne/Uand they withheldמֵהֶםme/HEMfrom themלֶחֶםLE/chemfoodלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִרְעָבוּyir/A/vuthey might hungerוּמַיִםu/MA/yimand waterלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִצְמָאוּyits/MA/uthey might thirstוְגַםve/GAMand alsoפָּשְׁטוּpa/she/TUthey did stripמֵעֲלֵיהֶםme/a/le/HEMfrom off themאֶת־בִּגְדֵיהֶםet-big/de/HEMtheir clothesוַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand they wereעֵירֻמִּיםe/rum/MIMnakedוְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusהָיוּha/YUthey wereאֲסוּרִיםa/su/RIMboundבַּעֲבֹתוֹתba/a/vo/TOTwith cordsחֲזָקוֹתcha/za/KOTstrongוַיִּכְלְאוּםvay/yikh/le/UMand they were confinedבְּבֵיתbe/VETinהַכֶּלֶא׃hak/KE/leprison

    And many such things, yea, all manner of such things did they say unto them; and thus they did mock them for many days. And they did withhold food from them that they might hunger, and water that they might thirst; and they also did take from them their clothes that they were naked; and thus they were bound with strong cords, and confined in prison.

23. 23

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterעׇנְיָםon/YAMthey sufferedכָּכָהKA/khathusיָמִיםya/MIMfor daysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMit was on the dayהַשְּׁנֵיםhash/she/NEMthe twoעָשָׂרa/SARtenבַּחֹדֶשׁba/CHO/deshin the monthהָעֲשִׂירִיha/a/si/RIthe tenthבִּשְׁנַתbish/NATin the yearעֶשֶׂרE/serof tenthלְמִמְשַׁלle/mim/SHALof the reignהַשֹּׁפְטִיםhash/shof/TIMof the judgesעַל־עַםal-amover the peopleנֶפִיNE/fiof Nephiוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOthat cameהַשֹּׁפֵטhash/sho/FETthe judgeהָרֹאשׁha/ROSHthe chiefבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsover the landעַמּוֹנִיהָהAm/mo/NI/haof Ammonihahוְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyמִמּוֹרֵיהֶםmim/mo/re/HEMof their teachersוְיוֹדְעֵיve/yod/Eand they that knowדִינָםdi/NAMtheir lawאֶל־בֵּיתel-betinto theהַכֶּלֶאhak/KE/leprisonאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereהָיוּha/YUwereאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaוַעֲמוּלֶקva/A/mu/lekand Amulekאֲסוּרִיםa/su/RIMboundבַּעֲבֹתוֹת׃ba/a/vo/TOTwith cords

    And it came to pass after they had thus suffered for many days, (and it was on the twelfth day, in the tenth month, in the tenth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi) that the chief judge over the land of Ammonihah and many of their teachers and their lawyers went in unto the prison where Alma and Amulek were bound with cords.

    וַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodהַשֹּׁפֵטhash/sho/FETthe judgeהָרֹאשׁha/ROSHthe chiefלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themוַיַּכֵּםvay/yak/KEMand smote themשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themאִם־יֵשׁim-yeshif there isלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youכֹּחַKO/achthe powerאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godהִנָּצְלוּhin/na/tse/LUdeliver yourselvesמִן־הָאֲסוּרִיםmin-ha/a/su/RIMfrom the bandsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוְאָזve/AZand thenנַאֲמִיןna/a/MINwe will believeכִּי־יְהוָהki-Adonaithat Adonaiיַשְׁמִידyash/MIDwill destroyאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּדְבַרְכֶם׃kid/var/KHEMaccording to your words

    And the chief judge stood before them, and smote them again, and said unto them: If ye have the power of God deliver yourselves from these bands, and then we will believe that the Lord will destroy this people according to your words.

25. 25

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatיָצְאוּya/tse/Ucame forthכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themוַיַּכּוּםvay/yak/KUMand they smote themאֹמְרִיםom/RIMsayingאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe same wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseעַדaduntilהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe lastוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe lastאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themוַיְהִיvay/HIand wasכֹחַKHO/achthe powerאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godעַל־אַלְמָאal-AL/maupon Almaוַעֲמוּלֶקva/A/mu/lekand Amulekוַיָּקוּמוּvay/ya/KU/muand they rose upוַיַּעַמְדוּvay/ya/am/DUand stoodעַל־רַגְלֵיהֶם׃al-rag/le/HEMupon their feet

    And it came to pass that they all went forth and smote them, saying the same words, even until the last; and when the last had spoken unto them the power of God was upon Alma and Amulek, and they rose and stood upon their feet.

26. 26

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand criedאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingעַד־מָתַיad-ma/TAYhow longנִסְבֹּלnis/BOLshall we sufferאֶת־הַצָּרוֹתet-hats/tsa/ROTthe afflictionsהַגְּדוֹלוֹתhag/ge/do/LOTthe greatהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseיְהוָהAdonaiO AdonaiיְהוָהAdonaiO Adonaiתְּנָה־לָּנוּte/NA-LA/nugive usעֹזozstrengthכֶּאֱמוּנָתֵנוּke/e/mu/na/te/NUaccording to our faithבַּמָּשִׁיחַbam/Ma/SHI/achin Christוְנִנָּצֵלve/nin/na/TSELeven unto deliveranceוַיְנַתְּקוּvay/nat/te/KUand they brakeאֶת־הָעֲבֹתוֹתet-ha/a/vo/TOTthe cordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwith whichהָיוּha/YUthey wereאֲסוּרִיםa/su/RIMboundבָּםbamtherewithוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּרְאוֹתkir/OTwhen sawהָעָםha/AMthe peopleזֹאתzotthisוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luthey beganלָנוּסla/NUSto fleeכִּיkiforנָפְלָהna/fe/LAfellעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themאֵימַתE/matthe fearכִּלָּיוֹן׃kil/la/YONof destruction

    And Alma cried, saying: How long shall we suffer these great afflictions, O Lord? O Lord, give us strength according to our faith which is in Christ, even unto deliverance. And they broke the cords with which they were bound; and when the people saw this, they began to flee, for the fear of destruction had come upon them.

27. 27

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּי־גָדְלָהki-ga/de/LAthat great wasאֵימָתָםe/ma/TAMtheir fearעַד־מְאֹדad-me/ODexceedinglyוַיִּפְּלוּvay/yip/pe/LUthat they fellאַרְצָהAR/tsato the earthוְלֹאve/LOand did notהִגִּיעוּhig/GI/uobtainאֶל־פֶּתַחel-PE/tachthe doorבֵּיתbetof theהַכֶּלֶאhak/KE/leprisonהַחִיצוֹןha/chi/TSONthe outerוַתִּרְעַשׁvat/tir/ASHand shookהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthבְּחׇזְקָהbe/choz/KAmightilyוַיִּבָּקְעוּvay/yib/ba/ke/Uand were rentקִירוֹתki/ROTthe wallsבֵּיתbetof theהַכֶּלֶאhak/KE/leprisonלִשְׁנַיִםlish/NA/yimin twainוַיִּפְּלוּvay/yip/pe/LUand they fellאַרְצָהAR/tsato the earthוְהַשֹּׁפֵטve/hash/sho/FETand the judgeהָרֹאשׁha/ROSHthe chiefוְיוֹדְעֵיve/yod/Eand they that knowהַדִּיןhad/DINthe lawוְהַכֹּהֲנִיםve/hak/ko/ha/NIMand the priestsוְהַמּוֹרִיםve/ham/mo/RIMand the teachersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהִכּוּhik/KUsmoteאֶת־אַלְמָאet-AL/maAlmaוַעֲמוּלֶקva/A/mu/lekand Amulekנֶהֶרְגוּne/her/GUwere slainבְּנִפְלָם׃be/nif/LAMby the fall thereof

    And it came to pass that so great was their fear that they fell to the earth, and did not obtain the outer door of the prison; and the earth shook mightily, and the walls of the prison were rent in twain, so that they fell to the earth; and the chief judge, and the lawyers, and priests, and teachers, who smote upon Alma and Amulek, were slain by the fall thereof.

28. 28

    וַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand there came forthאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaוַעֲמוּלֶקva/A/mu/lekand Amulekמִן־בֵּיתmin-betout ofהַכֶּלֶאhak/KE/lethe prisonוְלֹא־נִזּוֹקוּve/LO-niz/zo/KUand they were not hurtכִּי־נָתַןki-na/TANfor grantedיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiלָהֶםla/HEMunto themכֹּחַKO/achpowerכֶּאֱמוּנָתָםke/e/mu/na/TAMaccording to their faithבַּמָּשִׁיחַbam/Ma/SHI/achin Christוַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand they came forthמַהֵרma/HERstraightwayמִן־בֵּיתmin-betout ofהַכֶּלֶאhak/KE/lethe prisonוַיֻּתְּרוּvay/yut/te/RUand they were loosedמֵאֲסוּרֵיהֶםme/a/su/re/HEMfrom their bandsוּבֵיתu/VETand theהַכֶּלֶאhak/KE/leprisonנָפַלna/FALfellאַרְצָהAR/tsato the earthוְכׇל־נֶפֶשׁve/KHOL-NE/feshand every soulבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHwithinקִירוֹתָיוki/ro/TAYVits wallsמֵתָהME/tadiedזוּלַתzu/LATsaveאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaוַעֲמוּלֶקva/A/mu/lekand Amulekוַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand they came forthמַהֵרma/HERstraightwayאֶל־הָעִיר׃el-ha/IRinto the city

    And Alma and Amulek came forth out of the prison, and they were not hurt; for the Lord had granted unto them power, according to their faith which was in Christ. And they straightway came forth out of the prison; and they were loosed from their bands; and the prison had fallen to the earth, and every soul within the walls thereof, save it were Alma and Amulek, was slain; and they straightway came forth into the city.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardהָעָםha/AMthe peopleקוֹלkola noiseגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוַיָּרוּצוּvay/ya/RU/tsuand they came runningבַּהֲמוֹנִיםba/ha/mo/NIMby multitudesלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowמַה־זֹּאתma-zotthe cause of itוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּרְאוֹתָםkir/o/TAMwhen they sawאֶת־אַלְמָאet-AL/maAlmaוַעֲמוּלֶקva/A/mu/lekand Amulekיֹצְאִיםyots/IMcoming forthמִן־בֵּיתmin-betout ofהַכֶּלֶאhak/KE/lethe prisonוְקִירוֹתָיוve/ki/ro/TAYVand the walls thereofנָפְלוּna/fe/LUfellאַרְצָהAR/tsato the earthוַתִּפֹּלvat/tip/POLand there fellעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themאֵימָהe/MAfearגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוַיָּנוּסוּvay/ya/NU/suand they fledמִלִּפְנֵיmil/lif/NEfrom the presenceאַלְמָאAL/maof Almaוַעֲמוּלֶקva/A/mu/lekand Amulekכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHEReven asתָּנוּסta/NUSfleesעֵזeza goatעִם־גְּדָיֶיהָim-ge/da/ye/HAwith her youngמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEfromשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoאֲרָיוֹתa/ra/YOTlionsוְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusנָסוּNA/suthey fledמִלִּפְנֵיmil/lif/NEfrom the presenceאַלְמָאAL/maof Almaוַעֲמוּלֶק׃va/A/mu/lekand Amulek

    Now the people having heard a great noise came running together by multitudes to know the cause of it; and when they saw Alma and Amulek coming forth out of the prison, and the walls thereof had fallen to the earth, they were struck with great fear, and fled from the presence of Alma and Amulek even as a goat fleeth with her young from two lions; and thus they did flee from the presence of Alma and Amulek.
