   And it came to pass that they did go forth, and began to preach the word of God unto the people, entering into their synagogues, and into their houses; yea, and even they did preach the word in their streets.

   And it came to pass that after much labor among them, they began to have success among the poor class of people; for behold, they were cast out of the synagogues because of the coarseness of their apparel—

   Therefore they were not permitted to enter into their synagogues to worship God, being esteemed as filthiness; therefore they were poor; yea, they were esteemed by their brethren as dross; therefore they were poor as to things of the world; and also they were poor in heart.

   Now, as Alma was teaching and speaking unto the people upon the hill Onidah, there came a great multitude unto him, who were those of whom we have been speaking, of whom were poor in heart, because of their poverty as to the things of the world.

   And they came unto Alma; and the one who was the foremost among them said unto him: Behold, what shall these my brethren do, for they are despised of all men because of their poverty, yea, and more especially by our priests; for they have cast us out of our synagogues which we have labored abundantly to build with our own hands; and they have cast us out because of our exceeding poverty; and we have no place to worship our God; and behold, what shall we do?

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaאֶת־זֹאתet-zotthisוַיִּסֹּבvay/yis/SOVhe turnedאֶת־פָּנָיוet-pa/NAYVhis faceאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himפִּתְאֹםpit/OMimmediatelyוַיַּרְאvay/YARand he beheldבְּשִׂמְחָהbe/sim/CHAwith joyגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatכִּיkiforרָאָהra/Ahe beheldכִּיkithatצָרוֹתֵיהֶםtsa/ro/te/HEMtheir afflictionsהִכְנִיעוּםhikh/ni/UMhumbled themבֶּאֱמֶתbe/e/METtrulyוְכִיve/KHIand thatנָכוֹנוּna/KHO/nuthey were preparedלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato hearאֶת־הַדָּבָר׃et-had/da/VARthe word

   And now when Alma heard this, he turned him about, his face immediately towards him, and he beheld with great joy; for he beheld that their afflictions had truly humbled them, and that they were in a preparation to hear the word.

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeלֹאlonotהוֹסִיףho/SIFdid he continueלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakאֶל־הֶהָמוֹןel-he/ha/MONto the multitudeהָאַחֵרha/a/CHERotherוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHbut he stretched forthאֶת־יָדוֹet-ya/DOhis handוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand criedאֶל־אֲשֶׁרel-a/SHERunto those whomרָאָהra/Ahe beheldהַנִּכְנָעִיםhan/nikh/na/IMwho were humbledבֶּאֱמֶתbe/e/METtrulyוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMunto them

   Therefore he did say no more to the other multitude; but he stretched forth his hand, and cried unto those whom he beheld, who were truly penitent, and said unto them:

   רֹאֶהro/Ebeholdאֲנִיa/NIIכִּיkithatשִׁפְלֵיshif/LElowlyלֵבlevof heartאַתֶּםat/TEMare youוְאִם־כֵּןve/IM-kenand if soאַשְׁרֵיכֶם׃ash/re/KHEMblessed are you

   I behold that ye are lowly in heart; and if so, blessed are ye.

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָמַרa/MARsaidאֲחִיכֶםa/chi/KHEMyour brotherמַה־נַּעֲשֶׂהma-na/a/SEwhat shall we doכִּיkiforגֹרַשְׁנוּgo/rash/NUwe are cast outמִבָּתֵּיmib/bat/TEout of the housesכִנּוּסֵנוּkhin/nu/se/NUof our assemblyוְלֹאve/LOand notנוּכַלnu/KHALwe canלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹתle/hish/ta/cha/VOTworshipלֵאלֹהֵינוּ׃le/lo/HE/nuour God

   Behold thy brother hath said, What shall we do?—for we are cast out of our synagogues, that we cannot worship our God.

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youהֲתַחְשְׁבוּha/tach/she/VUdo you supposeכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notתוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou canלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹתle/hish/ta/cha/VOTworshipלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMGodכִּי־אִםki-imsaveבְּבָתֵּיbe/vat/TEin the housesכִנּוּסְכֶםkhin/nus/KHEMof your assemblyלְבַדָּם׃le/vad/DAMonly

    Behold I say unto you, do ye suppose that ye cannot worship God save it be in your synagogues only?

11. 11

    וְעוֹדve/ODand moreoverאֶשְׁאַלesh/ALI would askהֲתַחְשְׁבוּha/tach/she/VUdo you supposeכִּיkithatרַקrakonlyפַּעַםPA/amonceאַחַתa/CHAToneבַּשָּׁבוּעַbash/sha/VU/ain a weekתִּשְׁתַּחֲווּtish/ta/cha/VUyou must worshipלֵאלֹהִים׃le/lo/HIMGod

    And moreover, I would ask, do ye suppose that ye must not worship God only once in a week?

    אֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youטוֹבtovit is wellכִּיkithatגֹרַשְׁתֶּםgo/rash/TEMyou are cast outמִבָּתֵּיmib/bat/TEout of the housesכִנּוּסְכֶםkhin/nus/KHEMof your assemblyלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתִּכָּנְעוּtik/ka/ne/Uyou may be humbleוְתִלְמְדוּve/til/me/DUand that you may learnחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomכִּיkiforעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMyou mustלִלְמֹדlil/MODlearnחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomכִּיkiforבַעֲבוּרva/a/VURbecause ofהׇגְרַשְׁכֶםhog/rash/KHEMyour being cast outנִבְזִיתֶםniv/zi/TEMyou are despisedבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyesאֲחֵיכֶםa/che/KHEMof your brethrenמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofרֹבrovthe greatnessעׇנְיְכֶםon/ye/KHEMof your povertyוַתּוּבְאוּvat/tuv/Uand you are broughtלְשִׁפְלוּתle/shif/LUTto a lowlinessלֵבlevof heartכִּיkiforאֻלַּצְתֶּםul/lats/TEMyou are compelledלְהִכָּנַע׃le/hik/ka/NAto be humble

    I say unto you, it is well that ye are cast out of your synagogues, that ye may be humble, and that ye may learn wisdom; for it is necessary that ye should learn wisdom; for it is because that ye are cast out, that ye are despised of your brethren because of your exceeding poverty, that ye are brought to a lowliness of heart; for ye are necessarily brought to be humble.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכִּיkibecauseאֻלַּצְתֶּםul/lats/TEMyou are compelledלְהִכָּנַעle/hik/ka/NAto be humbleאַשְׁרֵיכֶםash/re/KHEMblessed are youכִּיkiforלִפְעָמִיםlif/a/MIMsometimesאִישׁisha manאִםimifיְאֻלַּץye/ul/LATShe is compelledלְהִכָּנַעle/hik/ka/NAto be humbleיְבַקֵּשׁye/vak/KESHseeksלָשׁוּבla/SHUVrepentanceוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאׇמְנָםom/NAMsurelyכׇּל־הַשָּׁבkol-hash/SHAVwhosoever repentsיִמְצָאyim/TSAshall findרַחֲמִיםra/cha/MIMmercyוְהַמּוֹצֵאve/ham/mo/TSEand he that findsרַחֲמִיםra/cha/MIMmercyוּמַחֲזִיקu/ma/cha/ZIKand enduresעַד־הַקֵּץad-hak/KETSto the endהוּאhuthe sameיִוָּשֵׁעַ׃yiv/va/SHE/ashall be saved

    And now, because ye are compelled to be humble blessed are ye; for a man sometimes, if he is compelled to be humble, seeketh repentance; and now surely, whosoever repenteth shall find mercy; and he that findeth mercy and endureth to the end the same shall be saved.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youכִּיkithatיַעַןYA/anbecauseאֻלַּצְתֶּםul/lats/TEMyou were compelledלְהִכָּנַעle/hik/ka/NAto be humbleבֹּרַכְתֶּםbo/rakh/TEMyou were blessedהֲלֹאha/LOdo you notתַחְשְׁבוּtach/she/VUsupposeכִּיkithatמְבֹרָכִיםme/vo/ra/KHIMthey are blessedיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreהַנִּכְנָעִיםhan/nikh/na/IMwho humble themselvesבֶּאֱמֶתbe/e/METtrulyמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofהַדָּבָר׃had/da/VARthe word

    And now, as I said unto you, that because ye were compelled to be humble ye were blessed, do ye not suppose that they are more blessed who truly humble themselves because of the word?

15. 15

    הֵןhenyeaהַנִּכְנָעhan/nikh/NAthat humbles himselfבֶּאֱמֶתbe/e/METtrulyוְהַשָּׁבve/hash/SHAVand repentsמֵחַטֹּאתָיוme/chat/to/TAYVof his sinsוּמַחֲזִיקu/ma/cha/ZIKand enduresעַד־הַקֵּץad-hak/KETSto the endהוּאhuthe sameיְבֹרָךְye/vo/RAKHshall be blessedאַףafyeaיְבֹרַךְye/VO/rakhblessedיוֹתֵרyo/TERmuch moreמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERthan those whoאֻלְּצוּul/le/TSUare compelledלְהִכָּנַעle/hik/ka/NAto be humbleמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofרֹבrovthe greatnessעׇנְיָם׃on/YAMof their poverty

    Yea, he that truly humbleth himself, and repenteth of his sins, and endureth to the end, the same shall be blessed—yea, much more blessed than they who are compelled to be humble because of their exceeding poverty.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areהַנִּכְנָעִיםhan/nikh/na/IMwho humble themselvesוְאֵיןve/ENwith noneמְאַלֵּץme/al/LETScompellingאוֹoorיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreנָכוֹןna/KHONrightlyבְּמִלִּיםbe/mil/LIMin wordsאֲחֵרוֹתa/che/ROTotherאַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed isהַמַּאֲמִיןham/ma/a/MINhe that believesבִּדְבַרbid/VARin the wordאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוְנִטְבָּלve/nit/BALand is baptizedבְּלִיbe/LIwithoutקְשִׁי־לֵבke/SHI-levstubbornness of heartאַףafyeaבְּלִיbe/LIwithoutהוּבָאhu/VAbeing broughtלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordאוֹoorאַףafevenמְאֻלָּץme/ul/LATScompelledלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeיַאֲמִין׃ya/a/MINhe will believe

    Therefore, blessed are they who humble themselves without being compelled to be humble; or rather, in other words, blessed is he that believeth in the word of God, and is baptized without stubbornness of heart, yea, without being brought to know the word, or even compelled to know, before they will believe.

    הֵןhenyeaרַבִּיםrab/BIMthere are manyהָאֹמְרִיםha/om/RIMwho sayאִםimifתַּרְאֵנוּtar/e/NUyou will show usאוֹתota signמִן־הַשָּׁמַיִםmin-hash/sha/MA/yimfrom heavenאָזazthenיָדֹעַya/DO/asurelyנֵדַעne/DAwe shall knowוְאָזve/AZthenנַאֲמִין׃na/a/MINshall we believe

    Yea, there are many who do say: If thou wilt show unto us a sign from heaven, then we shall know of a surety; then we shall believe.

18. 18

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowאֶשְׁאַלesh/ALI askהֲזֹאתha/ZOTis thisאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youלֹאlonayכִּי־אִםki-imfor ifיֵדַעye/DAknowsאִישׁisha manדָּבָרda/VARa thingאֵין־לוֹen-lohe has noעַל־מָהal-macauseלְהַאֲמִיןle/ha/a/MINto believeכִּיkiforיְדָעוֹ׃ye/da/Ohe knows it

    Now I ask, is this faith? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for if a man knoweth a thing he hath no cause to believe, for he knoweth it.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכַּמָּהkam/MAhow muchאָרוּרa/RURcursedיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreהַיּוֹדֵעַhay/yo/DE/ahe that knowsאֶת־רְצוֹןet-re/TSONthe willאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוְלֹאve/LOand notיַעֲשֶׂנּוּya/a/sen/NUdoes itמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERthan he thatרַקrakonlyמַאֲמִיןma/a/MINbelievesאוֹoorרַקrakonlyיֵשׁyeshthere isלוֹlounto himעַל־מָהal-macauseלְהַאֲמִיןle/ha/a/MINto believeוְנָפַלve/na/FALand fallsבְּפֶשַׁע׃be/FE/shainto transgression

    And now, how much more cursed is he that knoweth the will of God and doeth it not, than he that only believeth, or only hath cause to believe, and falleth into transgression?

20. 20

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMyou mustלִשְׁפֹּטlish/POTjudgeבַּדָּבָרbad/da/VARof the thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youכִּיkithatכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasמִזֶּהmiz/ZEon the one handכֵּןkeneven soמִזֶּהmiz/ZEon the otherוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beלְכׇל־אִישׁle/KHOL-ishunto every manכְּמַעֲשֵׂהוּ׃ke/ma/a/SE/huaccording to his work

    Now of this thing ye must judge. Behold, I say unto you, that it is on the one hand even as it is on the other; and it shall be unto every man according to his work.

21. 21

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidעַל־הָאֱמוּנָהal-ha/e/mu/NAconcerning faithאֵיןenis notהָאֱמוּנָהha/e/mu/NAfaithדַּעַתDA/atknowledgeתְּמִימָהte/mi/MAperfectלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאִם־יֵשׁim-yeshif there isלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithתְּקַוּוּte/kav/VUyou hopeלַדָּבָרlad/da/VARfor the thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹאlonotנִרְאָהnir/Ais seenוְהוּאve/HUand itנֶאֱמָן׃ne/e/MANis true

    And now as I said concerning faith—faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iחָפֵץcha/FETSwouldכִּיkithatתִזְכְּרוּtiz/ke/RUyou should rememberכִּיkithatעֹשֶׂהo/SEdoesאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodחֶסֶדCHE/sedmercyלְכׇל־הַמַּאֲמִינִיםle/KHOL-ham/ma/a/mi/NIMunto all who believeבִּשְׁמוֹbish/MOon his nameלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeחָפֵץcha/FETSdesiresהוּאhuheבָּרִאשׁוֹנָהba/ri/sho/NAin the first placeכִּיkithatתַאֲמִינוּta/a/MI/nuyou should believeאַףafyea evenבִּדְבָרוֹ׃bid/va/ROon his word

    And now, behold, I say unto you, and I would that ye should remember, that God is merciful unto all who believe on his name; therefore he desireth, in the first place, that ye should believe, yea, even on his word.

    And now, he imparteth his word by angels unto men, yea, not only men but women also. Now this is not all; little children do have words given unto them many times, which confound the wise and the learned.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenהָאֲהוּבִיםha/a/hu/VIMbelovedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasבִּקַּשְׁתֶּםbik/kash/TEMyou desiredלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/niof meמַהmawhatתַּעֲשׂוּta/a/SUyou shall doכִּיkibecauseמְעֻנִּיםme/un/NIMafflictedאַתֶּםat/TEMare youוּמְגֹרָשִׁיםu/me/go/ra/SHIMand cast outהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלֹאlonotאֶחְפֹּץech/POTSI desireכִּיkithatתַחְשְׁבוּtach/she/VUyou should supposeכִּיkithatאֶשְׁפֹּטesh/POTI judgeאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouרַקrakonlyלְפִיle/FIaccording toהָאֱמֶת׃ha/e/METthe truth

    And now, my beloved brethren, as ye have desired to know of me what ye shall do because ye are afflicted and cast out—now I do not desire that ye should suppose that I mean to judge you only according to that which is true—

25. 25

    כִּי־לֹאki-lofor notאֹמַרo/MARI sayכִּיkithatכֻּלְּכֶםkul/le/KHEMall of youאֻלַּצְתֶּםul/lats/TEMhave been compelledלְהִכָּנַעle/hik/ka/NAto humble yourselvesכִּיkiforמַאֲמִיןma/a/MINbelieveאֲנִיa/NIIבֶאֱמֶתve/e/METverilyכִּי־יֵשׁki-yeshthat there areבֵּינֵיכֶםbe/ne/KHEMamong youאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיִכָּנְעוּyik/ka/ne/Uwould humble themselvesבְּכׇל־אֲשֶׁרbe/KHOL-a/SHERin whatsoeverיִהְיוּyih/YUthey might beבוֹ׃votherein

    For I do not mean that ye all of you have been compelled to humble yourselves; for I verily believe that there are some among you who would humble themselves, let them be in whatsoever circumstances they might.

26. 26

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidעַל־הָאֱמוּנָהal-ha/e/mu/NAconcerning faithכִּיkithatאֵינָהּe/NAit was notדַּעַתDA/atknowledgeתְּמִימָהte/mi/MAa perfectכֵּןkeneven soבִּדְבָרָיbid/va/RAYwith my wordsלֹאlonotתֵדְעוּted/Uyou can knowאֶת־אֲמִתָּםet-a/mit/TAMof their suretyבָּרִאשׁוֹנָהba/ri/sho/NAat the firstעַדaduntoתֹּםtomperfectionיוֹתֵרyo/TERany moreמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERthanהָאֱמוּנָהha/e/mu/NAfaith isדַּעַתDA/atknowledgeתְּמִימָה׃te/mi/MAa perfect

    Now, as I said concerning faith—that it was not a perfect knowledge—even so it is with my words. Ye cannot know of their surety at first, unto perfection, any more than faith is a perfect knowledge.

27. 27

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהָקִיצוּha/KI/tsuawakeוְעוֹרְרוּve/or/RUand arouseאֶת־חוּשֵׁיכֶםet-chu/she/KHEMyour facultiesוְנַסּוּve/nas/SUand tryאֶת־דְּבָרַיet-de/va/RAYmy wordsוַעֲשׂוּva/a/SUand exerciseבְּגַרְגִּירbe/gar/GIRwith a particleאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAof faithוְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notתוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou canכִּי־אִםki-imbutלַחְפֹּץlach/POTSto desireלְהַאֲמִיןle/ha/a/MINto believeיִפְעַלyif/ALlet workהַחֵפֶץha/CHE/fetsthe desireבָּכֶםba/KHEMin youעַד־כִּיad-kieven untilתַאֲמִינוּta/a/MI/nuyou believeוְתִתְּנוּve/tit/te/NUand you giveמָקוֹםma/KOMplaceלְחֵלֶקle/CHE/lekfor a portionמִדְּבָרָי׃mid/de/va/RAYof my words

    But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowנְדַמֶּהne/dam/MEwe will compareאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordלְזֶרַעle/ZE/raunto a seedוְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowאִם־תִּתְּנוּim-tit/te/NUif you giveמָקוֹםma/KOMplaceכִּיkithatיִזָּרַעyiz/za/RAmay be plantedזֶרַעZE/raa seedבִּלְבַבְכֶםbil/vav/KHEMin your heartהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאִם־הוּאim-huif it beזֶרַעZE/raa seedנֶאֱמָןne/e/MANtrueאוֹoorזֶרַעZE/raa seedטוֹבtovgoodוְאִם־לֹאve/IM-loand if notתַשְׁלִיכוּהוּtash/li/khu/HUyou cast it outבְּמַעַלְכֶםbe/ma/al/KHEMby your unbeliefכִּיkithatתַמְרוּtam/RUyou will resistאֶת־רוּחַet-RU/achthe SpiritיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיָחֵלya/CHELit will beginלִתְפֹּחַlit/PO/achto swellבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHwithinחֲזֵכֶםcha/ze/KHEMyour breastsוְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand whenתָּחוּשׁוּta/chu/SHUyou feelאֶת־הַתְּפִיחוֹתet-hat/te/fi/CHOTswelling motionsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseתָּחֵלּוּta/CHEL/luyou will beginלֵאמֹרle/MORto sayבִּלְבַבְכֶםbil/vav/KHEMwithin yourselvesיִהְיֶהyih/YEit must needs beזֶהzethis isזֶרַעZE/raa seedטוֹבtovgoodאוֹoorהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordטוֹבtovis goodכִּיkiforהֵחֵלhe/CHELit beginsלְהַרְחִיבle/har/CHIVto enlargeנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulאַףafyeaהֵחֵלhe/CHELit beginsלְהָאִירle/ha/IRto enlightenשִׂכְלִיsikh/LImy understandingאַףafyeaהֵחֵלhe/CHELit beginsלֶעֱרַבle/e/RAVto be deliciousלִי׃lito me

    Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me.

29. 29

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהֲלֹאha/LOwould notיְחַזֵּקye/chaz/ZEKstrengthenזֶהzethisאֱמוּנַתְכֶםe/mu/nat/KHEMyour faithאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youכֵּןkenyeaאַךְakhneverthelessעוֹדodyetלֹא־גָדַלlo-ga/DALit has not grown upעַדadtoדַּעַתDA/ata knowledgeתְּמִימָה׃te/mi/MAperfect

    Now behold, would not this increase your faith? I say unto you, Yea; nevertheless it hath not grown up to a perfect knowledge.

30. 30

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEbut beholdכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיִתְפַּחyit/PACHswellsהַזֶּרַעhaz/ZE/rathe seedוְיַצְמִיחַve/yats/MI/achand sproutsוְיָחֵלve/ya/CHELand beginsלִצְמֹחַlits/MO/achto growתֹּאמְרוּto/me/RUyou must needs sayטוֹבtovis goodהַזֶּרַעhaz/ZE/rathe seedכִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdתּוֹפֵחַto/FE/achswellsהוּאhuitוּמַצְמִיחַu/mats/MI/achand sproutsוּמֵחֵלu/me/CHELand beginsלִצְמֹחַlits/MO/achto growוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהֲלֹאha/LOwill notיְחַזֵּקye/chaz/ZEKstrengthenזֶהzethisאֱמוּנַתְכֶםe/mu/nat/KHEMyour faithאַףafyeaיְחַזֵּקye/chaz/ZEKit will strengthenכִּיkiforתֹאמְרוּto/me/RUyou will sayיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowכִּי־טוֹבki-tovthat good isהַזֶּרַעhaz/ZE/rathe seedכִּיkiforתּוֹפֵחַto/FE/achswellsהוּאhuitוּמֵחֵלu/me/CHELand beginsלִצְמֹחַ׃lits/MO/achto grow

    But behold, as the seed swelleth, and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow, then you must needs say that the seed is good; for behold it swelleth, and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow. And now, behold, will not this strengthen your faith? Yea, it will strengthen your faith: for ye will say I know that this is a good seed; for behold it sprouteth and beginneth to grow.

31. 31

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַבְטוּחִיםhav/tu/CHIMare sureאַתֶּםat/TEMyouכִּי־טוֹבki-tovthat good isהַזֶּרַעhaz/ZE/rathe seedאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youכֵּןkenyeaכִּיkiforכׇל־זֶרַעkhol-ZE/raevery seedיוֹצִיאyo/TSIbrings forthלְמִינוֹ׃le/mi/NOafter its kind

    And now, behold, are ye sure that this is a good seed? I say unto you, Yea; for every seed bringeth forth unto its own likeness.

32. 32

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאִםimifיִצְמַחyits/MACHgrowsהַזֶּרַעhaz/ZE/raa seedטוֹבtovis goodהוּאhuitאַךְakhbutאִם־לֹאim-loif notיִצְמַחyits/MACHit growsהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלֹא־טוֹבlo-tovis not goodהוּאhuitלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeיֻשְׁלַךְ׃yush/LAKHit is cast away

    Therefore, if a seed groweth it is good, but if it groweth not, behold it is not good, therefore it is cast away.

33. 33

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdכִּיkibecauseנִסִּיתֶםnis/si/TEMyou triedאֶת־הַנִּסָּיוֹןet-han/nis/sa/YONthe experimentוּזְרַעְתֶּםu/ze/ra/TEMand plantedאֶת־הַזֶּרַעet-haz/ZE/rathe seedוְהוּאve/HUand itתָפַחta/FACHswellsוְהִצְמִיחַve/hits/MI/achand sproutsוְהֵחֵלve/he/CHELand beginsלִצְמֹחַlits/MO/achto growאַףafyeaתֵּדְעוּted/Uyou must needs knowכִּי־טוֹבki-tovthat is goodהַזֶּרַע׃haz/ZE/rathe seed

    And now, behold, because ye have tried the experiment, and planted the seed, and it swelleth and sprouteth, and beginneth to grow, ye must needs know that the seed is good.

34. 34

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַתְמִימָהhat/mi/MAis perfectדַעְתְּכֶםda/te/KHEMyour knowledgeאַףafyeaתְּמִימָהte/mi/MAis perfectדַעְתְּכֶםda/te/KHEMyour knowledgeבַּדָּבָרbad/da/VARin the thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוֶאֱמוּנַתְכֶםve/e/mu/nat/KHEMand your faithנָחָהNA/chais dormantוְזֶהve/ZEand thisכִּיkibecauseיְדַעְתֶּםye/da/TEMyou knowכִּיkiforהִרְחִיבhir/CHIVswelledהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordאֶת־נַפְשְׁכֶםet-naf/she/KHEMyour soulsוִידַעְתֶּםvi/da/TEMand you knowכִּיkithatצָמַחtsa/MACHit sprouted upכִּיkithatהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeginsאוֹרorlightלָבוֹאla/VOto comeלְשִׂכְלְכֶםle/sikh/le/KHEMto your understandingהֵןhenyeaוְהֵחֵלve/he/CHELand beginsלִבְּכֶםlib/be/KHEMyour mindלְהִתְרַחֵב׃le/hit/ra/CHEVto expand

    And now, behold, is your knowledge perfect? Yea, your knowledge is perfect in that thing, and your faith is dormant; and this because you know, for ye know that the word hath swelled your souls, and ye also know that it hath sprouted up, that your understanding doth begin to be enlightened, and your mind doth begin to expand.

35. 35

    אִם־כֵּןim-kenif soהֲלֹאha/LOis notאֱמֶתe/METtrueהוּאhuitאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youכֵּןkenyeaכִּיkibecauseאוֹרoris lightהוּאhuitוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand whatsoeverאוֹרoris lightהוּאhuisטוֹבtovgoodכִּיkibecauseנִכָּרnik/KARis discernibleהוּאhuitלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeתֵּדְעוּted/Uyou must knowכִּי־טוֹבki-tovthat is goodהוּאhuitוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterטְעַמְתֶּםte/am/TEMyou tastedאֶת־הָאוֹרet-ha/ORthe lightהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisהַתְמִימָהhat/mi/MAis perfectדַעְתְּכֶם׃da/te/KHEMyour knowledge

    O then, is not this real? I say unto you, Yea, because it is light; and whatsoever is light, is good, because it is discernible, therefore ye must know that it is good; and now behold, after ye have tasted this light is your knowledge perfect?

36. 36

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youלֹאlonayוְגַםve/GAMand alsoאַלalnotתַּנִּיחוּtan/ni/CHUmust you lay asideאֶת־אֱמוּנַתְכֶםet-e/mu/nat/KHEMyour faithכִּיkiforרַקrakonlyעֲשִׂיתֶםa/si/TEMyou exercisedבֶּאֱמוּנַתְכֶםbe/e/mu/nat/KHEMyour faithלִזְרֹעַliz/RO/ato plantאֶת־הַזֶּרַעet-haz/ZE/rathe seedלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתְּנַסּוּte/nas/SUyou might tryאֶת־הַנִּסָּיוֹןet-han/nis/sa/YONthe experimentלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowאִם־טוֹבim-tovif was goodהַזֶּרַע׃haz/ZE/rathe seed

    Behold I say unto you, Nay; neither must ye lay aside your faith, for ye have only exercised your faith to plant the seed that ye might try the experiment to know if the seed was good.

37. 37

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיָחֵלya/CHELbeginsהָעֵץha/ETSthe treeלִצְמֹחַlits/MO/achto growתֹּאמְרוּto/me/RUyou will sayנְטַפְּחֶנּוּne/tap/pe/chen/NUlet us nourish itבְּטִפּוּחַbe/tip/PU/achwith careרַבravgreatלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיַכֶּהyak/KEit may getשֹׁרֶשׁSHO/reshrootוְיִצְמַחve/yits/MACHand grow upוְיוֹצִיאve/yo/TSIand bring forthפְּרִיpe/RIfruitלָנוּLA/nuunto usוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאִםimifתְּטַפְּחוּהוּte/tap/pe/chu/HUyou nourish itבְּטִפּוּחַbe/tip/PU/achwith careרַבravmuchיַכֶּהyak/KEit will getשֹׁרֶשׁSHO/reshrootוְיִצְמַחve/yits/MACHand grow upוְיוֹצִיאve/yo/TSIand bring forthפְּרִי׃pe/RIfruit

    And behold, as the tree beginneth to grow, ye will say: Let us nourish it with great care, that it may get root, that it may grow up, and bring forth fruit unto us. And now behold, if ye nourish it with much care it will get root, and grow up, and bring forth fruit.

38. 38

    וְאִםve/IMand ifתַּזְנִיחוּtaz/ni/CHUyou neglectאֶת־הָעֵץet-ha/ETSthe treeוְלֹאve/LOand notתָשִׂימוּta/SI/musetלֵבlevheartלְטִפּוּחוֹle/tip/pu/CHOfor its nourishmentהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלֹא־יַכֶּהlo-yak/KEit will not getשֹׁרֶשׁSHO/reshrootוְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand whenיָבֹאya/VOcomesחֹםchomthe heatהַשֶּׁמֶשׁhash/SHE/meshof the sunוּשְׂרָפַתּוּu/se/ra/fat/TUand scorches itכִּיkibecauseאֵין־לוֹen-loit has noשֹׁרֶשׁSHO/reshrootוְיָבֵשׁve/ya/VESHit withers awayוּתְעַקְּרוּהוּu/te/ak/ke/ru/HUand you pluck it upוְתַשְׁלִיכוּהוּ׃ve/tash/li/khu/HUand cast it out

    But if ye neglect the tree, and take no thought for its nourishment, behold it will not get any root; and when the heat of the sun cometh and scorcheth it, because it hath no root it withers away, and ye pluck it up and cast it out.

39. 39

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowזֹאתzotthisלֹאlois notבַעֲבוּרva/a/VURbecauseכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notטוֹבtovgoodהָיָהha/YAwasהַזֶּרַעhaz/ZE/rathe seedוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלֹאlonotכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notנֶחְמָדnech/MADdesirableיִהְיֶהyih/YEwould beפִּרְיוֹpir/YOthe fruit thereofאַךְakhbutבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecauseכִּיkithatאַדְמַתְכֶםad/mat/KHEMyour groundצְחִיחָהtse/chi/CHAis barrenוְלֹאve/LOand notטִפַּחְתֶּםtip/pach/TEMyou will nourishאֶת־הָעֵץet-ha/ETSthe treeלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeלֹאlonotתוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou canלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLeatמִפִּרְיוֹ׃mip/pir/YOof the fruit thereof

    Now, this is not because the seed was not good, neither is it because the fruit thereof would not be desirable; but it is because your ground is barren, and ye will not nourish the tree, therefore ye cannot have the fruit thereof.

40. 40

    וְכֵןve/KHENand thusאִם־לֹאim-loif notתְטַפְּחוּte/tap/pe/CHUyou will nourishאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordבְּקַוּוֹתְכֶםbe/kav/vot/KHEMlooking forwardבְּעֵיןbe/ENwith an eyeאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAof faithלְפִרְיוֹle/fir/YOto the fruit thereofלֹאlonotתוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou canלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverלִקְטֹףlik/TOFpluckמִפְּרִיmip/pe/RIof the fruitעֵץetsof the treeהַחַיִּים׃ha/chay/YIMof life

    And thus, if ye will not nourish the word, looking forward with an eye of faith to the fruit thereof, ye can never pluck of the fruit of the tree of life.

41. 41

    אַךְakhbutאִםimifתְּטַפְּחוּte/tap/pe/CHUyou will nourishאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordאַףafyeaתְּטַפְּחוּte/tap/pe/CHUnourishאֶת־הָעֵץet-ha/ETSthe treeכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיָחֵלya/CHELit beginsלִצְמֹחַlits/MO/achto growבֶּאֱמוּנַתְכֶםbe/e/mu/nat/KHEMby your faithבַּחֲרִיצוּתba/cha/ri/TSUTwith diligenceרַבָּהrab/BAgreatוּבְאֹרֶךְu/ve/O/rekhand with patienceרוּחַRU/achof spiritבְּקַוּוֹתְכֶםbe/kav/vot/KHEMlooking forwardלְפִרְיוֹle/fir/YOto the fruit thereofוְהִכָּהve/hik/KAit shall takeשֹׁרֶשׁSHO/reshrootוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdיִהְיֶהyih/YEit shall beלְעֵץle/ETSa treeצוֹמֵחַtso/ME/achspringing upלְחַיֵּיle/chay/YEunto lifeעוֹלָם׃o/LAMeverlasting

    But if ye will nourish the word, yea, nourish the tree as it beginneth to grow, by your faith with great diligence, and with patience, looking forward to the fruit thereof, it shall take root; and behold it shall be a tree springing up unto everlasting life.

    וּבַעֲבוּרu/va/a/VURand becauseחֲרִיצוּתְכֶםcha/ri/tsut/KHEMof your diligenceוֶאֱמוּנַתְכֶםve/e/mu/nat/KHEMand your faithוְאֹרֶךְve/O/rekhand the patienceרוּחֲכֶםru/cha/KHEMof your spiritעִםimwithהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordבְּטַפְּחֲכֶםbe/tap/pe/cha/KHEMin nourishingאוֹתוֹo/TOitלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיַכֶּהyak/KEit may takeשֹׁרֶשׁSHO/reshrootבָּכֶםba/KHEMin youהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdמְעַטme/ATbyמְעַטme/ATbyתִּקְטְפוּtik/te/FUyou shall pluckמִפִּרְיוֹmip/pir/YOthe fruit thereofאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיָקָרya/KARis preciousמִכֹּלmik/KOLabove allוּמָתוֹקu/ma/TOKand which is sweetמִכׇּלmik/KOLabove allמָתוֹקma/TOKthat is sweetוְלָבָןve/la/VANand which is whiteמִכׇּלmik/KOLabove allלָבָןla/VANthat is whiteהֵןhenyeaוְטָהוֹרve/ta/HORand pureמִכׇּלmik/KOLabove allטָהוֹרta/HORthat is pureוַאֲכַלְתֶּםva/a/khal/TEMand you shall eatמִן־הַפְּרִיmin-hap/pe/RIupon the fruitהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisעַדadeven untilשׇׂבְעֲכֶםsov/a/KHEMyou are filledוְלֹאve/LOthat notתִרְעֲבוּtir/a/VUyou hungerוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלֹאlonotתִצְמָאוּ׃tits/ma/Ushall you thirst

    And because of your diligence and your faith and your patience with the word in nourishing it, that it may take root in you, behold, by and by ye shall pluck the fruit thereof, which is most precious, which is sweet above all that is sweet, and which is white above all that is white, yea, and pure above all that is pure; and ye shall feast upon this fruit even until ye are filled, that ye hunger not, neither shall ye thirst.

    אָזazthenאַחַיa/CHAYmy brethrenתִּקְצְרוּtik/tse/RUyou shall reapאֶת־גְּמוּלet-ge/MULthe rewardsאֱמוּנַתְכֶםe/mu/nat/KHEMof your faithוַחֲרִיצוּתְכֶםva/cha/ri/tsut/KHEMand your diligenceוְאֹרֶךְve/O/rekhand the patienceרוּחֲכֶםru/cha/KHEMof your spiritוְאֶרֶךְ־אַפֵּיכֶםve/E/rekh-ap/pe/KHEMand your long-sufferingבְּחַכּוֹתְכֶםbe/chak/kot/KHEMwaitingלָעֵץla/ETSfor the treeלְהוֹצִיאle/ho/TSIto bring forthאֶת־פִּרְיוֹet-pir/YOfruitלָכֶם׃la/KHEMunto you

    Then, my brethren, ye shall reap the rewards of your faith, and your diligence, and patience, and long-suffering, waiting for the tree to bring forth fruit unto you.
