   And it came to pass that I spake unto my brethren, saying: Let us go up again unto Jerusalem, and let us be faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord; for behold he is mightier than all the earth, then why not mightier than Laban and his fifty, yea, or even than his tens of thousands?

   Therefore let us go up; let us be strong like unto Moses; for he truly spake unto the waters of the Red Sea and they divided hither and thither, and our fathers came through, out of captivity, on dry ground, and the armies of Pharaoh did follow and were drowned in the waters of the Red Sea.

   Now behold ye know that this is true; and ye also know that an angel hath spoken unto you; wherefore can ye doubt? Let us go up; the Lord is able to deliver us, even as our fathers, and to destroy Laban, even as the Egyptians.

   Now when I had spoken these words, they were yet wroth, and did still continue to murmur; nevertheless they did follow me up until we came without the walls of Jerusalem.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/lain the nightוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themלְהֵחָבֵאle/he/cha/VEto hide themselvesמִחוּץmi/CHUTSwithoutלַחוֹמוֹתla/cho/MOTthe wallsוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהֵחָבְאָםhe/cha/ve/AMhid themselvesוָאֶתְגַּנֵּבva/et/gan/NEVI creptאֲנִיa/NIIנֶפִיNE/fiNephiהָעִירָהha/I/rainto the cityוָאֵלֶךְva/E/lekhand wentאֶל־בֵּיתel-bettoward the houseלָבָן׃la/VANof Laban

   And it was by night; and I caused that they should hide themselves without the walls. And after they had hid themselves, I, Nephi, crept into the city and went forth towards the house of Laban.

   וַיַּנְחֵנִיvay/yan/CHE/niand led meהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritוְלֹא־יָדַעְתִּיve/LO-ya/DA/tinot knowingמֵרֹאשׁme/ROSHbeforehandאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERthat whichאֶעֱשֶׂה׃e/e/SEI should do

   And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do.

   אַךְakhneverthelessהָלַכְתִּיha/LAKH/tiI went forthוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedבְּקׇרְבִיbe/kor/VIas I came nearאֶל־בֵּיתel-betto the houseלָבָןla/VANof Labanוָאֵרֶאva/E/reI sawאִישׁisha manוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdנָפַלna/FALhe fellלָאָרֶץla/A/retsto the earthלְפָנַיle/fa/NAYbefore meכִּיkiforשָׁכַרsha/KHARhe was drunkמִיָּיִן׃miy/YA/yinwith wine

   Nevertheless I went forth, and as I came near unto the house of Laban I beheld a man, and he had fallen to the earth before me, for he was drunken with wine.

   וָאָבֹאva/a/VOand when I cameאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himוָאֶמְצָאva/em/TSAI foundכִּי־הוּאki-huthat it wasלָבָן׃La/VANLaban

   And when I came to him I found that it was Laban.

9. 9

   וָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I beheldאֶת־חַרְבּוֹet-char/BOhis swordוָאֶשְׁלְפָהּva/esh/le/FAand I drew it forthמִתַּעְרָהּmit/ta/RAfrom the sheath thereofוְנִצָּבָהּve/nits/tsa/VAand the hilt thereofזָהָבza/HAVgoldטָהוֹרta/HORpureוּמַעֲשֶׂיהָu/ma/a/SE/haand the workmanship thereofטוֹבtovfineמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawכִּיkithatלַהֲבָהּla/ha/VAthe blade thereofפְּלָדוֹתpe/la/DOTsteelיָקָרya/KARpreciousמְאֹד׃me/ODexceedingly

   And I beheld his sword, and I drew it forth from the sheath thereof; and the hilt thereof was of pure gold, and the workmanship thereof was exceedingly fine, and I saw that the blade thereof was of the most precious steel.

    וַתְּצִיקֵנִיvat/te/tsi/ke/NIand I was constrainedהָרוּחַha/RU/achby the Spiritלַהֲרֹגla/ha/ROGthat I should killאֶת־לָבָןet-La/VANLabanוָאֹמַרva/o/MARbut I saidבְּלִבִּיbe/lib/BIin my heartמֵעוֹלָםme/o/LAMneverלֹא־שָׁפַכְתִּיlo-sha/FAKH/tiI have not shedדַּם־אָדָםdam-a/DAMthe blood of manוָאֶסּוֹגva/es/SOGand I shrunkוָאֶחְפֹּץva/ech/POTSand I desiredלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TInot toהׇרְגוֹ׃hor/GOslay him

    And it came to pass that I was constrained by the Spirit that I should kill Laban; but I said in my heart: Never at any time have I shed the blood of man. And I shrunk and would that I might not slay him.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritאֵלַיe/LAYunto meשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנָתַןna/TANdeliveredיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֹתוֹo/TOhimבְּיָדֶיךָbe/ya/DE/khainto your handsוְאַףve/AFyea, andיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI also knewכִּיkithatבִקֵּשׁvik/KESHhe soughtלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto takeאֶת־נַפְשִׁיet-naf/SHImy lifeוְאַףve/AFyea, andלֹא־שָׁמַעlo-sha/MAhe hearkened notלְמִצְוֹתle/mits/VOTunto the commandmentsיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלָקַחla/KACHtook awayאֶת־רְכוּשֵׁנוּ׃et-re/khu/SHE/nuour property

    And the Spirit said unto me again: Behold the Lord hath delivered him into thy hands. Yea, and I also knew that he had sought to take away mine own life; yea, and he would not hearken unto the commandments of the Lord; and he also had taken away our property.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritאֵלַיe/LAYunto meשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainהׇרְגֵהוּhor/ge/HUslay himכִּי־נָתַןki-na/TANfor deliveredיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֹתוֹo/TOhimבְּיָדֶיךָ׃be/ya/DE/khainto your hands

    And it came to pass that the Spirit said unto me again: Slay him, for the Lord hath delivered him into thy hands;

13. 13

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיָמִיתya/MITslaysיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֶת־הָרְשָׁעִיםet-ha/re/sha/IMthe wickedלְהָבִיאle/ha/VIto bring forthמַחְשְׁבוֹתmach/she/VOTthe purposesצִדְקוֹtsid/KOof His righteousnessטוֹבtovit is betterכִּי־יֹאבַדki-yo/VADthat should perishאִישׁisha manאֶחָדe/CHADoneמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERthan thatתִדְעַךְtid/AKHshould dwindleוְתֹאבַדve/to/VADand perishאֻמָּהum/MAa nationבְּאֵיןbe/ENwithoutאֱמוּנָה׃e/mu/NAfaith

    Behold the Lord slayeth the wicked to bring forth his righteous purposes. It is better that one man should perish than that a nation should dwindle and perish in unbelief.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenשָׁמַעְתִּיsha/MA/tiI heardאֲנִיa/NIIנֶפִיNE/fiNephiאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוָאֶזְכֹּרva/ez/KORI rememberedאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe wordsיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאָמַרa/MARHe spokeאֵלַיe/LAYunto meבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingוְהָיָהve/ha/YAthatאִם־יִשְׁמְרוּim-yish/me/RUinasmuch as shall keepזַרְעֲךָzar/a/KHAyour seedאֶת־מִצְוֹתַיet-mits/vo/TAYMy commandmentsוְצָלְחוּve/tsa/le/CHUthey shall prosperבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the landהַנַּחֲלָה׃han/na/cha/LAof promise

    And now, when I, Nephi, had heard these words, I remembered the words of the Lord which he spake unto me in the wilderness, saying that: Inasmuch as thy seed shall keep my commandments, they shall prosper in the land of promise.

    וְגַםve/GAMyea, and alsoאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidבְּלִבִּיbe/lib/BIin my heartכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notיוּכְלוּyukh/LUthey couldלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORkeepאֶת־מִצְוֹתet-mits/VOTthe commandmentsיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiכְּתוֹרַתke/to/RATaccording to the lawמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEof Mosesבִּלְתִּיbil/TIsaveאִם־תִּהְיֶהim-tih/YEthey should haveלָהֶםla/HEMunto themהַתּוֹרָה׃hat/to/RAthe law

    Yea, and I also thought that they could not keep the commandments of the Lord according to the law of Moses, save they should have the law.

    וָאֵדַעva/e/DAand I knewגַּםgamalsoאֲנִיa/NIIכִּיkithatהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawחֲרוּתָהcha/ru/TAwas engravenעַל־לוּחוֹתal-lu/CHOTupon the platesהַנְּחֹשֶׁת׃han/ne/CHO/shetof brass

    And I also knew that the law was engraven upon the plates of brass.

17. 17

    וְגַםve/GAMand againיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knewכִּי־נָתַןki-na/TANthat deliveredיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֶת־לָבָןet-La/VANLabanבְּיָדִיbe/ya/DIinto my handsלַדָּבָרlad/da/VARfor the causeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatאֶקַּחek/KACHI might obtainאֶת־הַסְּפָרִיםet-has/se/fa/RIMthe recordsכְּמִצְוֹתָיו׃ke/mits/vo/TAYVaccording to His commandments

    And again, I knew that the Lord had delivered Laban into my hands for this cause—that I might obtain the records according to his commandments.

18. 18

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeשָׁמַעְתִּיsha/MA/tiI obeyedבְּקוֹלbe/KOLthe voiceהָרוּחַha/RU/achof the Spiritוָאֶתְפֹּשׂva/et/POSand tookאֶת־לָבָןet-La/VANLabanבִּשְׂעַרbis/ARby the hairרֹאשׁוֹro/SHOof his headוָאַכְרִיתva/akh/RITand I smote offאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹet-ro/SHOhis headבְּמוֹbe/MOwith his ownחַרְבּוֹ׃char/BOsword

    Therefore I did obey the voice of the Spirit, and took Laban by the hair of the head, and I smote off his head with his own sword.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REthat afterכׇרְתִיkhor/TII smote offאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹet-ro/SHOhis headבְּמוֹbe/MOwith his ownחַרְבּוֹchar/BOswordוָאֶקַּחva/ek/KACHI tookאֶת־בִּגְדֵיet-big/DEthe garmentsלָבָןla/VANof Labanוָאֶלְבַּשׁva/el/BASHand putאֹתָםo/TAMthemעַל־בְּשָׂרִיal-be/sa/RIupon my own bodyאַףafyeaכֻּלָּםkul/LAMall of themוָאֶחְגֹּרva/ech/GORand I girded onאֶת־שִׁרְיוֹנוֹet-shir/yo/NOhis armorעַלaluponמׇתְנָי׃mot/NAYmy loins

    And after I had smitten off his head with his own sword, I took the garments of Laban and put them upon mine own body; yea, even every whit; and I did gird on his armor about my loins.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REthat afterעֲשׂוֹתִיa/so/TII didזֹאתzotthisוָאֵלֶךְva/E/lekhI went forthאֶל־אוֹצַרel-o/TSARunto the treasuryלָבָןla/VANof Labanוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedבְּלֶכְתִּיbe/lekh/TIas I went forthאֶל־אוֹצַרel-o/TSARtoward the treasuryלָבָןla/VANof Labanוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEbeholdרָאִיתִיra/I/tiI beheldאֶת־עֶבֶדet-E/vedthe servantלָבָןla/VANof Labanאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handמַפְתְּחוֹתmaf/te/CHOTthe keysהָאוֹצָרha/o/TSARof the treasuryוָאֲצַוֶּהva/a/tsav/VEand I commandedעָלָיוa/LAYVhimוְקוֹלִיve/ko/LIand my voiceקוֹלkolthe voiceלָבָןla/VANof Labanלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetthat he should goאִתִּיit/TIwith meאֶלelintoהָאוֹצָר׃ha/o/TSARthe treasury

    And after I had done this, I went forth unto the treasury of Laban. And as I went forth towards the treasury of Laban, behold, I saw the servant of Laban who had the keys of the treasury. And I commanded him in the voice of Laban, that he should go with me into the treasury.

    וַיַּחְשְׁבֵנִיvay/yach/she/VE/niand he supposed meלַאֲדֹנָיוla/a/do/NAYVto be his masterלְלָבָןLe/la/VANLabanכִּיkiforרָאָהra/Ahe sawאֶת־הַבְּגָדִיםet-hab/be/ga/DIMthe garmentsוְגַםve/GAMand alsoאֶת־הַחֶרֶבet-ha/CHE/revthe swordהַחֲגוּרָהha/cha/gu/RAgirdedעַלalaboutמׇתְנָי׃mot/NAYmy loins

    And he supposed me to be his master, Laban, for he beheld the garments and also the sword girded about my loins.

22. 22

    וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand he spokeאֵלַיe/LAYunto meעַל־זִקְנֵיal-zik/NEconcerning the eldersהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMof the Jewsכִּיkiforיָדַעya/DAhe knewכִּיkithatאֲדֹנָיוa/do/NAYVhis masterלָבָןLa/VANLabanהָיָהha/YAhad beenבַלַּיְלָהval/LAY/laby nightבְּתוֹכָם׃be/to/KHAMamong them

    And he spake unto me concerning the elders of the Jews, he knowing that his master, Laban, had been out by night among them.

    וָאֲדַבֵּרva/a/dab/BERand I spokeאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himכְּלָבָן׃ke/La/VANas Laban

    And I spake unto him as if it had been Laban.

24. 24

    וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I spokeאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himכִּיkithatאֶשָּׂאes/SAI would carryאֶת־הַחֲרוּתִיםet-ha/cha/ru/TIMthe engravingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעַל־לוּחוֹתal-lu/CHOTupon the platesהַנְּחֹשֶׁתhan/ne/CHO/shetof brassאֶל־אַחַיel-a/CHAYunto my brethrenהַגְּדֹלִיםhag/ge/do/LIMthe elderאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichמִחוּץmi/CHUTSwithoutלַחוֹמוֹת׃la/cho/MOTthe walls

    And I also spake unto him that I should carry the engravings, which were upon the plates of brass, to my elder brethren, who were without the walls.

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI badeלוֹlounto himלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetthat he should goאַחֲרָי׃a/cha/RAYafter me

    And I also bade him that he should follow me.

    And he, supposing that I spake of the brethren of the church, and that I was truly that Laban whom I had slain, wherefore he did follow me.

    And he spake unto me many times concerning the elders of the Jews, as I went forth unto my brethren, who were without the walls.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּרְאוֹתkir/OTthat when sawלָמָןLA/manLamanאֹתִיo/TImeיָרֹאya/ROexceedinglyיָרֵאya/REhe fearedוְגַםve/GAMand alsoלְמוּאֵלLe/mu/ELLemuelוְסָםve/SAMand Samוַיָּנוּסוּvay/ya/NU/suand they fledמִלְּפָנַיmil/le/fa/NAYfrom my presenceכִּיkiforחָשְׁבוּcha/she/VUthey supposedכִּי־לָבָןki-La/VANthat Labanהוּאhuit was heוְכִיve/KHIand thatהֲרָגַנִיha/ra/ga/NIhe slew meוּבִקֵּשׁu/vik/KESHand soughtלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto takeגַּםgamalsoאֶת־נַפְשָׁם׃et-naf/SHAMtheir lives

    And it came to pass that when Laman saw me he was exceedingly frightened, and also Lemuel and Sam. And they fled from before my presence; for they supposed it was Laban, and that he had slain me and had sought to take away their lives also.

    וָאֶקְרָאva/ek/RAand I calledאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMafter themוַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand they heardקוֹלִיko/LImy voiceוְעַל־כֵּןve/AL-kenwhereforeחָדְלוּcha/de/LUthey ceasedלָנוּסla/NUSto fleeמִלְּפָנָי׃mil/le/fa/NAYfrom my presence

    And it came to pass that I called after them, and they did hear me; wherefore they did cease to flee from my presence.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּרְאוֹתkir/OTthat when beheldעֶבֶדE/vedthe servantלָבָןla/VANof Labanאֶת־אַחַיet-a/CHAYmy brethrenוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/chelhe beganלִרְעֹדlir/ODto trembleוַיְבַקֵּשׁvay/vak/KESHand was aboutלָנוּסla/NUSto fleeמִלְּפָנַיmil/le/fa/NAYfrom before meוְלָשׁוּבve/la/SHUVand returnעִירָהi/RAto the cityיְרוּשָׁלָיִם׃Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimof Jerusalem

    And it came to pass that when the servant of Laban beheld my brethren he began to tremble, and was about to flee from before me and return to the city of Jerusalem.

31. 31

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֲנִיa/NIIנֶפִיNE/fiNephiאִישׁishbeing a manגְּדָלge/DALlargeקוֹמָהko/MAin statureוְקִבַּלְתִּיve/kib/bal/TIand I receivedכֹּחַKO/achstrengthרַבravmuchמֵאֵתme/ETofיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiוְעַל־כֵּןve/AL-kenthereforeתָּפַשְׂתִּיta/fas/TII seized uponאֶת־עֶבֶדet-E/vedthe servantלָבָןla/VANof Labanוָאֹחֶזva/O/chezand heldבּוֹbohimלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notיָנוּס׃ya/NUShe should flee

    And now I, Nephi, being a man large in stature, and also having received much strength of the Lord, therefore I did seize upon the servant of Laban, and held him, that he should not flee.

32. 32

    וָאֲדַבֵּרva/a/dab/BERand I spokeעִמּוֹim/MOunto himכִּי־אִםki-imthat ifיִשְׁמַעyish/MAhe would hearkenלִדְבָרַיlid/va/RAYunto my wordsחַי־יְהוָהchay-Adonaias Adonai livesוְחַי־אָנִיve/CHAY-A/niand as I liveוְאַףve/AFevenכִּי־אִםki-imthat ifיִשְׁמַעyish/MAhe would hearkenלִדְבָרֵינוּlid/va/re/NUunto our wordsנַחֲיֶהna/cha/YEwe would spareאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹ׃et-naf/SHOhis life

    And it came to pass that I spake with him, that if he would hearken unto my words, as the Lord liveth, and as I live, even so that if he would hearken unto our words, we would spare his life.

33. 33

    וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I spokeאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himוְגַםve/GAMand alsoבִּשְׁבוּעָהbish/vu/Awith an oathכִּיkithatאֵין־לוֹen-lohe has notלִירֹאli/ROto fearכִּיkiforיִהְיֶהyih/YEhe should beכְּאֶחָדke/e/CHADas oneמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof usאִישׁisha manחׇפְשִׁיchof/SHIfreeאִם־יֵרֵדim-ye/REDif he would go downאִתָּנוּit/TA/nuwith usהַמִּדְבָּרָה׃ham/mid/BA/rainto the wilderness

    And I spake unto him, even with an oath, that he need not fear; that he should be a free man like unto us if he would go down in the wilderness with us.

34. 34

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאָכֵןa/KHENsurelyצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַהֲלֹאva/ha/LOand shall we notשָׁמוֹרsha/MORbe diligentנִשְׁמֹרnish/MORin keepingאֶת־מִצְוֹתet-mits/VOTthe commandmentsיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאִם־תֵּרֵדim-te/REDif you will go downהַמִּדְבָּרָהham/mid/BA/rainto the wildernessאֶל־אָבִיel-a/VIto my fatherוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand there shall beלְךָle/KHAunto youמָקוֹםma/KOMa placeאִתָּנוּ׃it/TA/nuwith us

    And I also spake unto him, saying: Surely the Lord hath commanded us to do this thing; and shall we not be diligent in keeping the commandments of the Lord? Therefore, if thou wilt go down into the wilderness to my father thou shalt have place with us.

35. 35

    וַיִּתְחַזֵּקvay/yit/chaz/ZEKand took courageזוֹרָםZO/ramZoramלִדְבָרַיlid/va/RAYat my wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI spokeוְזוֹרָםve/ZO/ramnow Zoramשֵׁםshemwas the nameהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedof the servantוַיַּבְטַחvay/yav/TACHand he promisedלָרֶדֶתla/RE/detthat he would go downהַמִּדְבָּרָהham/mid/BA/rainto the wildernessאֶל־אָבִינוּel-a/VI/nuunto our fatherוְגַםve/GAMand alsoנִשְׁבַּעnish/BAsworeלָנוּLA/nuunto usלָשֶׁבֶתla/SHE/vetthat he would tarryעִמָּנוּim/MA/nuwith usמֵהַיּוֹםme/hay/YOMfrom the timeהַהוּאha/HUthatוָהָלְאָה׃va/HAL/aforth

    And it came to pass that Zoram did take courage at the words which I spake. Now Zoram was the name of the servant; and he promised that he would go down into the wilderness unto our father. Yea, and he also made an oath unto us that he would tarry with us from that time forth.

36. 36

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowחָפַצְנוּcha/fats/NUwe were desirousכִּי־יֵשֵׁבki-ye/SHEVthat he should tarryעִמָּנוּim/MA/nuwith usלַדָּבָרlad/da/VARfor the causeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notיֵדְעוּyed/Umight knowהַיְּהוּדִיםhay/Ye/hu/DIMthe Jewsעַל־מְנוּסָתֵנוּal-me/nu/sa/te/NUconcerning our flightהַמִּדְבָּרָהham/mid/BA/rainto the wildernessפֶּן־יִרְדְּפוּpen-yir/de/FUlest they should pursueאַחֲרֵינוּa/cha/RE/nuafter usוְיַשְׁמִידוּנוּ׃ve/yash/mi/du/NUand destroy us

    Now we were desirous that he should tarry with us for this cause, that the Jews might not know concerning our flight into the wilderness, lest they should pursue us and destroy us.

37. 37

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERthat whenנִשְׁבַּעnish/BAsworeזוֹרָםZO/ramZoramלָנוּLA/nuunto usוַיַּחְדְּלוּvay/yach/de/LUceasedפְּחָדֵינוּpe/cha/de/NUour fearsעָלָיו׃a/LAYVconcerning him

    And it came to pass that when Zoram had made an oath unto us, our fears did cease concerning him.

38. 38

    וַנִּקַּחvan/nik/KACHand we tookאֶת־לוּחוֹתet-lu/CHOTthe platesהַנְּחֹשֶׁתhan/ne/CHO/shetof brassוְאֶת־עֶבֶדve/ET-E/vedand the servantלָבָןla/VANof Labanוַנֵּצֵאvan/ne/TSEand departedהַמִּדְבָּרָהham/mid/BA/rainto the wildernessוַנֵּלֶךְvan/NE/lekhand journeyedאֶל־אֹהֶלel-O/helunto the tentאָבִינוּ׃a/VI/nuof our father

    And it came to pass that we took the plates of brass and the servant of Laban, and departed into the wilderness, and journeyed unto the tent of our father.
