   Now these are the words which Amulek preached unto the people who were in the land of Ammonihah, saying:

   אֲנִיa/NII amעֲמוּלֶקA/mu/lekAmulekבֶּן־גִּדּוֹנָהben-Gid/DO/nason of Giddonahבֶּן־יִשְׁמָעֵאלben-Yish/ma/ELson of Ishmaelאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָיָהha/YAwasמִזֶּרַעmiz/ZE/raa descendantעֲמִינָדִיA/MI/na/diof Aminadiוְהוּאve/HUand he isעֲמִינָדִיA/MI/na/dithat same Aminadiאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoפֵּרַשׁpe/RASHinterpretedאֶת־הַכְּתָבet-hak/ke/TAVthe writingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich wasעַל־קִירal-kirupon the wallהַהֵיכָלha/he/KHALof the templeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִכְתַּבnikh/TAVwas writtenבְּאֶצְבַּעbe/ets/BAby the fingerאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

   I am Amulek; I am the son of Giddonah, who was the son of Ishmael, who was a descendant of Aminadi; and it was that same Aminadi who interpreted the writing which was upon the wall of the temple, which was written by the finger of God.

   And Aminadi was a descendant of Nephi, who was the son of Lehi, who came out of the land of Jerusalem, who was a descendant of Manasseh, who was the son of Joseph who was sold into Egypt by the hands of his brethren.

   וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdגַּם־אֲנִיgam-a/NII am alsoאִישׁisha manלֹאloof noמְעַטme/ATsmallשְׁמִיshe/MIreputationבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revamongכׇּל־יוֹדְעַיkol-yod/AYall those who know meהֵןhenyeaוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyלִיliunto meמִשְׁפָּחוֹתmish/pa/CHOTkindredsוְרֵעִיםve/re/IMand friendsוְגַםve/GAMand alsoרָכַשְׁתִּיra/khash/TII acquiredעֹשֶׁרO/sherrichesרַבravmuchבְּיַדbe/YADby the handמְלַאכְתִּי׃me/lakh/TIof my industry

   And behold, I am also a man of no small reputation among all those who know me; yea, and behold, I have many kindreds and friends, and I have also acquired much riches by the hand of my industry.

   Nevertheless, after all this, I never have known much of the ways of the Lord, and his mysteries and marvelous power. I said I never had known much of these things; but behold, I mistake, for I have seen much of his mysteries and his marvelous power; yea, even in the preservation of the lives of this people.

   Nevertheless, I did harden my heart, for I was called many times and I would not hear; therefore I knew concerning these things, yet I would not know; therefore I went on rebelling against God, in the wickedness of my heart, even until the fourth day of this seventh month, which is in the tenth year of the reign of the judges.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedבְּלֶכְתִּיbe/lekh/TIas I wentלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeקָרוֹבka/ROVa near kindredלִיlito meמְאֹדme/ODveryוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdמַלְאַךְmal/AKHan angelיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiנִרְאָהnir/Aappearedאֵלַיe/LAYunto meוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidעֲמוּלֶקA/mu/lekAmulekשׁוּבshuvreturnאֶל־בֵּיתְךָel-be/te/KHAto your own houseכִּיkiforתַאֲכִילta/a/KHILyou shall feedנְבִיאne/VIa prophetיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiאַףafyeaאִישׁisha manקָדוֹשׁka/DOSHholyהוּאhuwho isבְּחִירbe/CHIRa chosen manהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godכִּיkiforצָםtsamhe fastedיָמִיםya/MIMdaysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURbecause ofחַטֹּאתchat/TOTthe sinsהָעָם־הַזֶּהha/AM-haz/ZEof this peopleוְהוּאve/HUand he isרָעֵבra/EVan hungeredוַאֲסַפְתּוֹva/a/saf/TOand you shall receive himאֶל־בֵּיתְךָel-be/te/KHAinto your houseוְתַאֲכִילֵהוּve/ta/a/khi/le/HUand feed himוִיבָרֵךְvi/va/REKHand he shall blessאוֹתְךָot/KHAyouוְאֶת־בֵּיתְךָve/ET-be/te/KHAand your houseוּבִרְכַּתu/vir/KATand the blessingיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiתָּנוּחַta/NU/achshall restעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaupon youוְעַל־בֵּיתְךָ׃ve/AL-be/te/KHAand upon your house

   As I was journeying to see a very near kindred, behold an angel of the Lord appeared unto me and said: Amulek, return to thine own house, for thou shalt feed a prophet of the Lord; yea, a holy man, who is a chosen man of God; for he has fasted many days because of the sins of this people, and he is an hungered, and thou shalt receive him into thy house and feed him, and he shall bless thee and thy house; and the blessing of the Lord shall rest upon thee and thy house.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatשָׁמַעְתִּיsha/MA/tiI obeyedבְּקוֹלbe/KOLthe voiceהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHof the angelוָאָשׁוּבva/a/SHUVand returnedאֶל־בֵּיתִיel-be/TItowards my houseוּבְלֶכְתִּיu/ve/lekh/TIand as I was goingשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathitherמָצָאתִיma/TSA/tiI foundאֶת־הָאִישׁet-ha/ISHthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whomאָמַרa/MARsaidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelתַּאַסְפֵהוּta/as/fe/HUyou shall receiveאֶל־בֵּיתְךָel-be/te/KHAinto your houseוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהוּאhuit isהָאִישׁha/ISHthe same manהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisהַמְּדַבֵּרham/me/dab/BERwho has been speakingאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMunto youעַל־דִּבְרֵיal-div/REconcerning the thingsהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMof God

   And it came to pass that I obeyed the voice of the angel, and returned towards my house. And as I was going thither I found the man whom the angel said unto me: Thou shalt receive into thy house—and behold it was this same man who has been speaking unto you concerning the things of God.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelאִישׁisha manקָדוֹשׁka/DOSHholyהוּאhuis heלָכֵןla/KHENwhereforeיוֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowאֲנִיa/NIIכִּיkithatאִישׁisha manקָדוֹשׁka/DOSHholyהוּאhuis heכִּי־כֵןki-khenbecause it was soנֶאֱמַרne/e/MARspokenבְּפִיbe/FIby the mouthמַלְאַךְmal/AKHof an angelאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

   And the angel said unto me he is a holy man; wherefore I know he is a holy man because it was said by an angel of God.

    וְעוֹדve/ODand againיוֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowאֲנִיa/NIIכִּיkithatהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe thingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereofהֵעִידhe/IDhe testifiedעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMof themנֶאֱמָנִיםne/e/ma/NIMtrueהֵםhemareכִּיkiforהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֹמֵרo/MERI sayלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youחַי־יְהוָהchay-Adonaias Adonai livesכִּיkieven soשָׁלַחsha/LACHHe sentאֶת־מַלְאָכוֹet-mal/a/KHOHis angelלְהוֹדִיעַle/ho/DI/ato make knownלִיliunto meאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisעָשָׂהa/SAHe didבְּעוֹדbe/ODwhileאַלְמָאAL/maAlmaהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVdweltבְּבֵיתִי׃be/ve/TIat my house

    And again, I know that the things whereof he hath testified are true; for behold I say unto you, that as the Lord liveth, even so has he sent his angel to make these things manifest unto me; and this he has done while this Alma hath dwelt at my house.

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdבֵּרַךְbe/RAKHhe blessedאֶת־בֵּיתִיet-be/TImy houseוּבֵרַךְu/ve/RAKHand blessedאוֹתִיo/TImeוְאֶת־נָשַׁיve/ET-na/SHAYand my womenוִילָדַיvi/la/DAYand my childrenוְאֶת־אָבִיve/ET-a/VIand my fatherוּקְרוֹבָיu/ke/ro/VAYand my kinsfolkאַףafyeaאֶת־כׇּל־מִשְׁפַּחְתִּיet-kol-mish/pach/TIall my kindredבֵּרַךְbe/RAKHhas he blessedוּבִרְכַּתu/vir/KATand the blessingיְהוָהAdonaiof AdonaiנָחָהNA/charestedעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuupon usכַּדְּבָרִיםkad/de/va/RIMaccording to the wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבֵּר׃dib/BERhe spoke

    For behold, he hath blessed mine house, he hath blessed me, and my women, and my children, and my father and my kinsfolk; yea, even all my kindred hath he blessed, and the blessing of the Lord hath rested upon us according to the words which he spake.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeעֲמוּלֶקA/mu/lekAmulekאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/chelthat beganהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלְהִתְפַּלֵּאle/hit/pal/LEto be astonishedכִּיkiforרָאוּra/Uthey sawכִּי־יֵשׁki-yeshthat there wasיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreמֵעֵדme/EDthan a witnessאֶחָדe/CHADoneהַמֵּעִידham/me/IDwho testifiedעַל־הַדְּבָרִיםal-had/de/va/RIMof the thingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereofהוּעֲדוּhu/a/DUthey were accusedעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMthereofוְגַםve/GAMand alsoעַל־הַדְּבָרִיםal-had/de/va/RIMof the thingsהָעֲתִידִיםha/a/ti/DIMwhich wereלָבוֹאla/VOto comeכְּרוּחַke/RU/achaccording to the spiritהַנְּבוּאָהhan/ne/vu/Aof prophecyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich wasבָּם׃bamin them

    And now, when Amulek had spoken these words the people began to be astonished, seeing there was more than one witness who testified of the things whereof they were accused, and also of the things which were to come, according to the spirit of prophecy which was in them.

    אַךְakhneverthelessהָיוּha/YUthere wereבֵינֵיהֶםve/ne/HEMamong themאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoחָשְׁבוּcha/she/VUthoughtלַחֲקֹרla/cha/KORto questionאוֹתָםo/TAMthemלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִתְפְּשׂוּםyit/pe/SUMthey might catch themבְּעׇרְמָתָםbe/or/ma/TAMby their cunningבְּדִבְרֵיהֶםbe/div/re/HEMin their wordsלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִמְצְאוּyim/tse/Uthey might findעֵדוּתe/DUTwitnessנֶגְדָּםneg/DAMagainst themלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִמְסְרוּםyim/se/RUMthey might deliver themלְשֹׁפְטֵיהֶםle/shof/te/HEMunto their judgesלְהִשָּׁפֵטle/hish/sha/FETto be judgedכַּמִּשְׁפָּטkam/mish/PATaccording to the lawוּלְמַעַןu/le/MA/anand thatיוּמְתוּyum/TUthey might be slainאוֹoorיֻשְׁלְכוּyush/le/KHUcastלְבֵיתle/VETintoהַכֶּלֶאhak/KE/leprisonכַּפֶּשַׁעkap/PE/shaaccording to the crimeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיוּכְלוּyukh/LUthey couldלְהַרְאוֹתle/har/OTmake appearאוֹoorלְהָעִידle/ha/IDtestifyנֶגְדָּם׃neg/DAMagainst them

    Nevertheless, there were some among them who thought to question them, that by their cunning devices they might catch them in their words, that they might find witness against them, that they might deliver them to their judges that they might be judged according to the law, and that they might be slain or cast into prison, according to the crime which they could make appear or witness against them.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoבִּקְשׁוּbik/SHUsoughtלְהַשְׁמִידָםle/hash/mi/DAMto destroy themהָיוּha/YUwereיוֹדְעֵיyod/Ethey that knowדִיןdinthe lawאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנִשְׂכְּרוּnis/ke/RUwere hiredאוֹoorנִמְנוּnim/NUappointedבְּיַדbe/YADbyהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלְהוֹרוֹתle/ho/ROTto administerאֶת־הַמִּשְׁפָּטet-ham/mish/PATthe lawבְּעִתּוֹתbe/it/TOTat the timesמִשְׁפְּטֵיהֶםmish/pe/te/HEMof their trialsאוֹoorבְּמִשְׁפְּטֵיbe/mish/pe/TEat the trialsפִּשְׁעֵיpish/Eof the crimesהָעָםha/AMof the peopleלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַשֹּׁפְטִים׃hash/shof/TIMthe judges

    Now it was those men who sought to destroy them, who were lawyers, who were hired or appointed by the people to administer the law at their times of trials, or at the trials of the crimes of the people before the judges.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowיוֹדְעֵיyod/Ethey that knowהַדִּיןhad/DINthe lawהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseהָיוּha/YUwereמְלֻמָּדִיםme/lum/ma/DIMlearnedבְּכׇל־חׇכְמוֹתbe/KHOL-chokh/MOTin all the arts ofוְעׇרְמַתve/or/MATand cunningהָעָםha/AMof the peopleוְזֹאתve/ZOTand thisלְמַעַןle/MA/anwas thatיוּכְלוּyukh/LUthey might be ableלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beמָהִירִיםma/hi/RIMskillfulבִּמְלַאכְתָּם׃bim/lakh/TAMin their profession

    Now these lawyers were learned in all the arts and cunning of the people; and this was to enable them that they might be skilful in their profession.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/luthey beganלִשְׁאֹלlish/OLto questionאֶת־עֲמוּלֶקet-A/mu/lekAmulekלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיַעֲשׂוּya/a/SUthey might causeאוֹתוֹo/TOhimלְכַחֵשׁle/kha/CHESHto crossבִּדְבָרָיוbid/va/RAYVhis wordsאוֹoorלִסְתֹּרlis/TORto contradictאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיְדַבֵּר׃ye/dab/BERhe should speak

    And it came to pass that they began to question Amulek, that thereby they might make him cross his words, or contradict the words which he should speak.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAnowלֹא־יָדְעוּlo-ya/de/Uthey knew notכִּיkithatיוּכַלyu/KHALcouldעֲמוּלֶקA/mu/lekAmulekלָדַעַתla/DA/atknowאֶת־מְזִמּוֹתֵיהֶםet-me/zim/mo/te/HEMof their designsוַיְהִיvay/HIbut it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/luthey beganלִשְׁאֹלlish/OLto questionאוֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיַּכֵּרvay/yak/KERhe perceivedאֶת־מַחְשְׁבוֹתֵיהֶםet-mach/she/vo/te/HEMtheir thoughtsוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themהוֹיhoyO youדּוֹרdorgenerationרָשָׁעra/SHAwickedוּפְתַלְתֹּלu/fe/tal/TOLand perverseיוֹדְעֵיyod/Eyou that knowדִיןdinthe lawוַחֲנֵפִיםva/cha/ne/FIMand hypocritesכִּיkiforמְיַסְּדִיםme/yas/se/DIMare layingאַתֶּםat/TEMyouיְסוֹדוֹתye/so/DOTthe foundationsהַשָּׂטָןhas/sa/TANof the devilכִּיkiforשָׂמִיםsa/MIMare layingאַתֶּםat/TEMyouפַּחִיםpa/CHIMtrapsוּמוֹקְשִׁיםu/mok/SHIMand snaresלִלְכֹּדlil/KODto catchאֶת־קְדוֹשֵׁיet-ke/do/SHEthe holy onesהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMof God

    Now they knew not that Amulek could know of their designs. But it came to pass as they began to question him, he perceived their thoughts, and he said unto them: O ye wicked and perverse generation, ye lawyers and hypocrites, for ye are laying the foundations of the devil; for ye are laying traps and snares to catch the holy ones of God.

    אַתֶּםat/TEMyouחֹרְשִׁיםchor/SHIMare layingמְזִמּוֹתme/zim/MOTplansלְעַקֵּשׁle/ak/KESHto pervertאֶת־דַּרְכֵיet-dar/KHEthe waysהַצַּדִּיקִיםhats/tsad/di/KIMof the righteousוּלְהָבִיאu/le/ha/VIand to bring downאֶת־חֲרוֹןet-cha/RONthe wrathהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMof Godעַל־רָאשֵׁיכֶםal-ra/she/KHEMupon your headsאַףafevenעַדaduntoכְּלוֹתke/LOTthe destructionהָעָם־הַזֶּהha/AM-haz/ZEof this peopleכָּלִיל׃ka/LILutter

    Ye are laying plans to pervert the ways of the righteous, and to bring down the wrath of God upon your heads, even to the utter destruction of this people.

    Yea, well did Mosiah say, who was our last king, when he was about to deliver up the kingdom, having no one to confer it upon, causing that this people should be governed by their own voices—yea, well did he say that if the time should come that the voice of this people should choose iniquity, that is, if the time should come that this people should fall into transgression, they would be ripe for destruction.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאֹמַרo/MARI sayלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youכִּיkithatהֵיטֵבhe/TEVwell doesשׁוֹפֵטsho/FETjudgeיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֶת־עֲוֹנוֹתֵיכֶםet-a/vo/no/te/KHEMyour iniquitiesהֵיטֵבhe/TEVwell does Heקוֹרֵאko/REcryאֶל־הָעָםel-ha/AMunto the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבְּקוֹלbe/KOLby the voiceמַלְאָכָיוmal/a/KHAYVof His angelsשׁוּבוּSHU/vurepent youשׁוּבוּSHU/vurepentכִּיkiforמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdomהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimof heavenקְרוֹבָה׃ke/ro/VAis at hand

    And now I say unto you that well doth the Lord judge of your iniquities; well doth he cry unto this people, by the voice of his angels: Repent ye, repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

21. 21

    הֵןhenyeaהֵיטֵבhe/TEVwell does Heקוֹרֵאko/REcryבְּקוֹלbe/KOLby the voiceמַלְאָכָיוmal/a/KHAYVof His angelsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֵרֵדe/REDI will come downבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revamongעַמִּיam/MImy peopleוּמִשְׁפָּטu/mish/PATwith equityוָצֶדֶקva/TSE/dekand justiceבְּיָדָי׃be/ya/DAYin My hands

    Yea, well doth he cry, by the voice of his angels that: I will come down among my people, with equity and justice in my hands.

22. 22

    וְהֵןve/HENyea andאֹמַרo/MARI sayלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youלוּלֵאlu/LEthat were it not forתְפִלּוֹתte/fil/LOTthe prayersהַצַּדִּיקִיםhats/tsad/di/KIMof the righteousאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho areבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landכַּיּוֹםkay/YOMthis dayכִּיkithatעַתָּהat/TAeven nowהֱיִיתֶםhe/yi/TEMyou would beנִפְקָדִיםnif/ka/DIMvisitedבְּכָלָהbe/kha/LAwith utter destructionאַךְakhyetלֹאlonotבַמַּבּוּלvam/mab/BULby a floodכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהָיָהha/YAwereלָעָםla/AMthe peopleבִּימֵיbi/MEin the daysנֹחַNO/achof Noahכִּי־אִםki-imbutבָּרָעָבba/ra/AVby famineוּבַדֶּבֶרu/vad/DE/verand by pestilenceוּבֶחָרֶב׃u/ve/CHA/revand the sword

    Yea, and I say unto you that if it were not for the prayers of the righteous, who are now in the land, that ye would even now be visited with utter destruction; yet it would not be by flood, as were the people in the days of Noah, but it would be by famine, and by pestilence, and the sword.

23. 23

    אַךְakhbutבִּתְפִלּוֹתbit/fil/LOTby the prayersהַצַּדִּיקִיםhats/tsad/di/KIMof the righteousנִצַּלְתֶּםnits/tsal/TEMyou are sparedוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאִםimifתְּגָרְשׁוּte/ga/re/SHUyou will cast outאֶת־הַצַּדִּיקִיםet-hats/tsad/di/KIMthe righteousמִקִּרְבְּכֶםmik/kir/be/KHEMfrom among youאָזazthenלֹאlowill notיִמְנַעyim/NAstayיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֶת־יָדוֹet-ya/DOHis handכִּיkibutבַחֲרוֹןva/cha/RONin the fiercenessאַפּוֹap/POof His angerיֵצֵאye/TSEwill He come forthעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMagainst youאָזazthenתֻּכּוּtuk/KUyou shall be smittenבָּרָעָבba/ra/AVby famineוּבַדֶּבֶרu/vad/DE/verand by pestilenceוּבֶחָרֶבu/ve/CHA/revand by the swordוְהָעֵתve/ha/ETand the timeקְרוֹבָהke/ro/VAis soon at handאִם־לֹאim-loexceptתָשׁוּבוּ׃ta/shu/VUyou repent

    But it is by the prayers of the righteous that ye are spared; now therefore, if ye will cast out the righteous from among you then will not the Lord stay his hand; but in his fierce anger he will come out against you; then ye shall be smitten by famine, and by pestilence, and by the sword; and the time is soon at hand except ye repent.

24. 24

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatהוֹסִיפוּho/si/FUwere moreהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלִכְעֹסlikh/OSangryעַל־עֲמוּלֶקal-A/mu/lekwith Amulekוַיִּזְעֲקוּvay/yiz/a/KUand they criedלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisמְגַדֵּףme/gad/DEFreviles againstאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטֵינוּet-mish/pa/te/NUour lawsהַצַּדִּיקִיםhats/tsad/di/KIMjustוְאֶת־יוֹדְעֵיve/ET-yod/Eand they that knowדִינֵנוּdi/ne/NUour lawהַחֲכָמִיםha/cha/kha/MIMthe wiseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomבָּחַרְנוּ׃ba/char/NUwe selected

    And now it came to pass that the people were more angry with Amulek, and they cried out, saying: This man doth revile against our laws which are just, and our wise lawyers whom we have selected.

25. 25

    וַיֶּטvay/YETand stretched forthעֲמוּלֶקA/mu/lekAmulekאֶת־יָדוֹet-ya/DOhis handוַיִּזְעַקvay/yiz/AKand criedאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMunto themבְּיֶתֶרbe/YE/terwith greaterעֹזozmightלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהוֹיhoyO youדּוֹרdorgenerationרָשָׁעra/SHAwickedוּפְתַלְתֹּלu/fe/tal/TOLand perverseלָמָּהLAM/mawhyאָחַזa/CHAZgot holdהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanבִּלְבַבְכֶםbil/vav/KHEMupon your heartsעַד־מְאֹדad-me/ODsuch greatלָמָּהLAM/mawhyתִתְּנוּtit/te/NUwill you yieldאֶת־נַפְשְׁכֶםet-naf/she/KHEMyourselvesלוֹlounto himלִהְיוֹת־לוֹlih/YOT-lothat he may haveכֹחַKHO/achpowerעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMover youלְעַוֵּרle/av/VERto blindאֶת־עֵינֵיכֶםet-e/ne/KHEMyour eyesלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notתָבִינוּta/vi/NUyou will understandאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהַנֶּאֱמָרִיםhan/ne/e/ma/RIMwhich are spokenכַּאֲמִתָּם׃ka/a/mit/TAMaccording to their truth

    But Amulek stretched forth his hand, and cried the mightier unto them, saying: O ye wicked and perverse generation, why hath Satan got such great hold upon your hearts? Why will ye yield yourselves unto him that he may have power over you, to blind your eyes, that ye will not understand the words which are spoken, according to their truth?

26. 26

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַאִםha/IMhaveהֵעַדְתִּיhe/ad/TII testifiedנֶגֶדNE/gedagainstמִשְׁפַּטְכֶםmish/pat/KHEMyour lawלֹאloyou do notתָבִינוּta/vi/NUunderstandאַתֶּםat/TEMyouאֹמְרִיםom/RIMsayכִּיkithatדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tiI spokeנֶגֶדNE/gedagainstמִשְׁפַּטְכֶםmish/pat/KHEMyour lawאַךְakhbutלֹאloI have notדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tispokenכִּי־אִםki-imbutבְּעַדbe/ADin favorמִשְׁפַּטְכֶםmish/pat/KHEMof your lawלְאַשְׁמַתְכֶם׃le/ash/mat/KHEMunto your condemnation

    For behold, have I testified against your law? Ye do not understand; ye say that I have spoken against your law; but I have not, but I have spoken in favor of your law, to your condemnation.

27. 27

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֹמַרo/MARI sayלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youכִּיkithatיְסוֹדye/SODthe foundationהַשְׁחָתַתhash/cha/TATof the destructionהָעָם־הַזֶּהha/AM-haz/ZEof this peopleמֵחֵלme/CHELis beginningלְהִבָּנוֹתle/hib/ba/NOTto be laidבְּרִשְׁעַתbe/rish/ATby the unrighteousnessיוֹדְעֵיyod/Eof they that knowדִינְכֶםdi/ne/KHEMyour lawוְשֹׁפְטֵיכֶם׃ve/shof/te/KHEMand your judges

    And now behold, I say unto you, that the foundation of the destruction of this people is beginning to be laid by the unrighteousness of your lawyers and your judges.

28. 28

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeעֲמוּלֶקA/mu/lekAmulekאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיִּזְעֲקוּvay/yiz/a/KUthat cried outהָעָםha/AMthe peopleנֶגְדּוֹneg/DOagainst himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingעַתָּהat/TAnowיָדַעְנוּya/DA/nuwe knowכִּיkithatהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבֶּן־הַשָּׂטָןben-has/sa/TANa child of the devilהוּאhuisכִּי־שִׁקֵּרki-shik/KERfor he liedלָנוּLA/nuunto usכִּיkiforדִּבֶּרdib/BERhe spokeנֶגֶדNE/gedagainstמִשְׁפָּטֵנוּmish/pa/te/NUour lawוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאוֹמֵרo/MERhe saysכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notדִּבֶּרdib/BERhe spokeנֶגְדּוֹ׃neg/DOagainst it

    And now it came to pass that when Amulek had spoken these words the people cried out against him, saying: Now we know that this man is a child of the devil, for he hath lied unto us; for he hath spoken against our law. And now he says that he has not spoken against it.

29. 29

    וְגַםve/GAMand againגִּדֵּףgid/DEFhe reviledאֶת־יוֹדְעֵיet-yod/Ethey that knowדִינֵנוּdi/ne/NUour lawוְאֶת־שֹׁפְטֵינוּ׃ve/ET-shof/TE/nuour judges

    And again, he has reviled against our lawyers, and our judges.

30. 30

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכִּיkithatשָׂמוּSA/mulaidיוֹדְעֵיyod/Ethey that knowהַדִּיןhad/DINthe lawבְּלִבָּםbe/lib/BAMin their heartsלִזְכֹּרliz/KORto rememberאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseנֶגְדּוֹ׃neg/DOagainst him

    And it came to pass that the lawyers put it into their hearts that they should remember these things against him.

31. 31

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאֶחָדe/CHADthere was oneבֵּינֵיהֶםbe/ne/HEMamong themוּשְׁמוֹu/she/MOwhose name wasזִיזְרוֹםZi/ZE/romZeezromוְהוּאve/HUand heהָיָהha/YAwasהָרִאשׁוֹןha/ri/SHONthe foremostלְהַאֲשִׁיםle/ha/a/SHIMto accuseאֶת־עֲמוּלֶקet-A/mu/lekAmulekוְאֶת־אַלְמָאve/ET-AL/maand Almaבִּהְיוֹתוֹbih/yo/TObeingאֶחָדe/CHADoneהַמְּהִירִיםham/me/hi/RIMof the most expertבֵּינֵיהֶםbe/ne/HEMamong themוְרַבve/RAVand muchמַעֲשֵׂהוּma/a/SE/huhis businessבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revamongהָעָם׃ha/AMthe people

    And there was one among them whose name was Zeezrom. Now he was the foremost to accuse Amulek and Alma, he being one of the most expert among them, having much business to do among the people.

32. 32

    וְחֵפֶץve/CHE/fetsnow the objectיוֹדְעֵיyod/Eof they that knowהַדִּיןhad/DINthe lawהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseהָיָהha/YAwasלְהַשִּׂיגle/has/SIGto getבֶּצַעBE/tsagainוַיַּשִּׂיגוּvay/yas/SI/guand they gotבֶּצַעBE/tsagainכַּעֲבוֹדָתָם׃ka/a/vo/da/TAMaccording to their employ

    Now the object of these lawyers was to get gain; and they got gain according to their employ.
