   For it came to pass after I had desired to know the things that my father had seen, and believing that the Lord was able to make them known unto me, as I sat pondering in mine heart I was caught away in the Spirit of the Lord, yea, into an exceedingly high mountain, which I never had before seen, and upon which I never had before set my foot.

   And the Spirit said unto me: Behold, what desirest thou?

   וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidחָפַצְתִּיcha/FATS/tiI desireלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe thingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichרָאָהra/Asawאָבִי׃a/VImy father

   And I said: I desire to behold the things which my father saw.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritהֲתַאֲמִיןha/ta/a/MINbelieve youכִּיkithatרָאָהra/Asawאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherאֶת־הָעֵץet-ha/ETSthe treeאֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרa/SHER-dib/BERof which he spokeעָלָיו׃a/LAYVthereof

   And the Spirit said unto me: Believest thou that thy father saw the tree of which he hath spoken?

   וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidכֵּןkenyeaיָדַעְתָּya/DA/tayou knowכִּי־הֶאֱמַנְתִּיki-he/e/MAN/tithat I believeבְּכׇל־דִּבְרֵיbe/KHOL-div/REin all the wordsאָבִי׃a/VIof my father

   And I said: Yea, thou knowest that I believe all the words of my father.

   And when I had spoken these words, the Spirit cried with a loud voice, saying: Hosanna to the Lord, the most high God; for he is God over all the earth, yea, even above all. And blessed art thou, Nephi, because thou believest in the Son of the most high God; wherefore, thou shalt behold the things which thou hast desired.

   And behold this thing shall be given unto thee for a sign, that after thou hast beheld the tree which bore the fruit which thy father tasted, thou shalt also behold a man descending out of heaven, and him shall ye witness; and after ye have witnessed him ye shall bear record that it is the Son of God.

   And it came to pass that the Spirit said unto me: Look! And I looked and beheld a tree; and it was like unto the tree which my father had seen; and the beauty thereof was far beyond, yea, exceeding of all beauty; and the whiteness thereof did exceed the whiteness of the driven snow.

   And it came to pass after I had seen the tree, I said unto the Spirit: I behold thou hast shown unto me the tree which is precious above all.

    And he said unto me: What desirest thou?

    וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowאֶת־פִּתְרוֹנוֹet-pit/ro/NOits interpretationכִּי־דִבַּרְתִּיki-dib/BAR/tifor I spokeאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERspeaksאִישׁisha manוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I beheldוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהוּאhuhe wasבִּדְמוּתbid/MUTin the formאִישׁishof a manאַךְakhyetיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knewכִּי־הוּאki-huthat it wasרוּחַRU/achthe SpiritיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand He spokeאֵלַיe/LAYunto meכְּדַבֵּרke/dab/BERas speaksאִישׁisha manאֶל־רֵעֵהוּ׃el-re/E/huunto his fellow

    And I said unto him: To know the interpretation thereof—for I spake unto him as a man speaketh; for I beheld that he was in the form of a man; yet nevertheless, I knew that it was the Spirit of the Lord; and he spake unto me as a man speaketh with another.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meרְאֵהre/Elookוָאַבִּיטva/ab/BITand I lookedכִּמְבַקֵּשׁkim/vak/KESHas one seekingלִרְאוֹתוֹlir/o/TOto see Himוְלֹאve/LOand notרְאִיתִיוre/i/TIVdid I see HimכִּיkiforסָרsarHe departedמִלְּפָנָי׃mil/le/fa/NAYfrom before me

    And it came to pass that he said unto me: Look! And I looked as if to look upon him, and I saw him not; for he had gone from before my presence.

    וָאַבִּיטva/ab/BITand I lookedוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand sawאֶת־הָעִירet-ha/IRthe cityהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAthe greatיְרוּשָׁלַיִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemוְגַםve/GAMand alsoעָרִיםa/RIMcitiesאֲחֵרוֹתa/che/ROTotherוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand sawאֶת־עִירet-ircityנָצְרַתNATS/ratof Nazarethוּבְעִירu/ve/IRand in the cityנָצְרַתNATS/ratof Nazarethוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand beheldעַלְמָהal/MAa virginוְהִיאve/HIand she wasיְפַת־מַרְאֶהye/FAT-mar/Efair of countenanceוּלְבָנָהu/le/va/NAand whiteעַד־מְאֹד׃ad-me/ODexceedingly

    And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the great city of Jerusalem, and also other cities. And I beheld the city of Nazareth; and in the city of Nazareth I beheld a virgin, and she was exceedingly fair and white.

    וָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawאֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִםet-hash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensנִפְתָּחִיםnif/ta/CHIMopenedוַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redand descendedמַלְאָךְmal/AKHan angelוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodלְפָנַיle/fa/NAYbefore meוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meנֶפִיNE/fiNephiמַהmawhatתִּרְאֶה׃tir/Esee you

    And it came to pass that I saw the heavens open; and an angel came down and stood before me; and he said unto me: Nephi, what beholdest thou?

15. 15

    וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himעַלְמָהal/MAa virginיְפַת־תֹּאַרye/FAT-TO/arfair of formוִיפַת־מַרְאֶהVI/fat-mar/Eand fair of countenanceמִכׇּל־הָעֲלָמוֹת׃mik/KOL-ha/a/la/MOTabove all other virgins

    And I said unto him: A virgin, most beautiful and fair above all other virgins.

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meהֲיָדַעְתָּha/ya/DA/taknow youאֶת־עַנְוַתet-an/VATthe condescensionאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

    And he said unto me: Knowest thou the condescension of God?

17. 17

    וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVunto himיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowכִּי־אָהַבki-a/HAVthat He lovesאֶת־בָּנָיוet-ba/NAYVHis childrenאוּלָםu/LAMneverthelessלֹא־יָדַעְתִּיlo-ya/DA/tiI know notפֵּשֶׁרPE/sherthe meaningכׇּל־הַדְּבָרִים׃kol-had/de/va/RIMof all the things

    And I said unto him: I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things.

18. 18

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהָעַלְמָהha/al/MAthe virginאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomרָאִיתָra/I/tayou sawהִיאhishe isאֵםemthe motherבֶּן־אֱלֹהִיםben-E/lo/HIMof the Son of Godכְּדֶרֶךְke/DE/rekhafter the mannerבָּשָׂר׃ba/SARof the flesh

    And he said unto me: Behold, the virgin whom thou seest is the mother of the Son of God, after the manner of the flesh.

    וָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawכִּיkithatנִשְּׂאָהnis/se/Ashe was carried awayבָּרוּחַba/RU/achin the Spiritוַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהִנָּשְׂאָהּhin/na/se/Ashe had been carried awayבָּרוּחַba/RU/achin the Spiritלְמוֹעֵדle/mo/EDfor a space of timeוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelרְאֵה׃re/Elook

    And it came to pass that I beheld that she was carried away in the Spirit; and after she had been carried away in the Spirit for the space of a time the angel spake unto me, saying: Look!

    וָאַבִּיטva/ab/BITand I lookedוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand sawאֶת־הָעַלְמָהet-ha/al/MAthe virginשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainנֹשֵׂאתno/SETbearingיֶלֶדYE/leda childבִּזְרוֹעֹתֶיהָ׃biz/ro/o/te/HAin her arms

    And I looked and beheld the virgin again, bearing a child in her arms.

21. 21

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelרְאֵהre/Ebeholdשֵׂה־אֱלֹהִיםse-E/lo/HIMthe Lamb of Godאַףafyea, evenבֶּן־אֲבִיben-A/VIthe Son of the FatherעוֹלָםO/LAMEternalהֲיָדַעְתָּha/ya/DA/taknow youפִּתְרוֹןpit/RONthe meaningהָעֵץha/ETSof the treeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichרָאָהra/Asawאָבִיךָ׃a/VI/khayour father

    And the angel said unto me: Behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Son of the Eternal Father! Knowest thou the meaning of the tree which thy father saw?

    וָאַעַןva/A/anand I answeredוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand saidכֵּןkenyeaהוּאhuit isאַהֲבַתa/ha/VATthe loveאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godהַנִּשְׁפֶּכֶתhan/nish/PE/khetwhich is shed forthבְּלֵבbe/LEVin the heartsבְּנֵי־הָאָדָםbe/NE-ha/a/DAMof the children of menעַל־כֵּןal-kenwhereforeהוּאhuit isנֶחְמָדnech/MADdesirableמִכׇּל־הַדְּבָרִים׃mik/KOL-had/de/va/RIMabove all things

    And I answered him, saying: Yea, it is the love of God, which sheddeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men; wherefore, it is the most desirable above all things.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingוְאַףve/AFyea, andמְשַׂמֵּחַme/sam/ME/achjoyousאֶת־הַנֶּפֶשׁet-han/NE/feshto the soulמִכֹּל׃mik/KOLmost

    And he spake unto me, saying: Yea, and the most joyous to the soul.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאׇמְרוֹom/ROhis sayingאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meרְאֵהre/Elookוָאַבִּיטva/ab/BITand I lookedוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand beheldאֶת־בֶּן־אֱלֹהִיםet-Ben-e/lo/HIMthe Son of Godמִתְהַלֵּךְmit/hal/LEKHgoing forthבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongבְּנֵי־הָאָדָםbe/NE-ha/a/DAMthe children of menוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I beheldרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyנֹפְלִיםnof/LIMfell downלְרַגְלָיוle/rag/LAYVat His feetוּמִשְׁתַּחֲוִיםu/mish/ta/cha/VIMand worshipedלוֹ׃loHim

    And after he had said these words, he said unto me: Look! And I looked, and I beheld the Son of God going forth among the children of men; and I saw many fall down at his feet and worship him.

    And it came to pass that I beheld that the rod of iron, which my father had seen, was the word of God, which led to the fountain of living waters, or to the tree of life; which waters are a representation of the love of God; and I also beheld that the tree of life was a representation of the love of God.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelשׁוּבshuvagainהַבֵּטhab/BETlookוּרְאֵהu/re/Eand beholdאֶת־עַנְוַתet-an/VATthe condescensionאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMof God

    And the angel said unto me again: Look and behold the condescension of God!

    And I looked and beheld the Redeemer of the world, of whom my father had spoken; and I also beheld the prophet who should prepare the way before him. And the Lamb of God went forth and was baptized of him; and after he was baptized, I beheld the heavens open, and the Holy Ghost come down out of heaven and abide upon him in the form of a dove.

    וָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawכִּיkithatהָלַךְha/LAKHHe went forthמְשָׁרֵתme/sha/RETministering untoאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleבְּכֹחַbe/KHO/achin powerוּבְכָבוֹדu/ve/kha/VODand in gloryגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוַיִּקָּהֲלוּvay/yik/ka/ha/LUand gatheredהֲמוֹנִיםha/mo/NIMthe multitudesלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato hearאוֹתוֹo/TOhimוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand sawכִּיkithatהִשְׁלִיכֻהוּhish/li/khu/HUthey cast Him outמִקִּרְבָּם׃mik/kir/BAMfrom among them

    And I beheld that he went forth ministering unto the people, in power and great glory; and the multitudes were gathered together to hear him; and I beheld that they cast him out from among them.

    And I also beheld twelve others following him. And it came to pass that they were carried away in the Spirit from before my face, and I saw them not.

    And it came to pass that the angel spake unto me again, saying: Look! And I looked, and I beheld the heavens open again, and I saw angels descending upon the children of men; and they did minister unto them.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYunto meשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingרְאֵהre/Elookוָאַבִּיטva/ab/BITand I lookedוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand beheldאֶת־שֵׂה־אֱלֹהִיםet-Se-e/lo/HIMthe Lamb of Godמִתְהַלֵּךְmit/hal/LEKHgoing forthבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongבְּנֵי־הָאָדָםbe/NE-ha/a/DAMthe children of menוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawהֲמוֹנֵיha/mo/NEmultitudesעָםamof peopleחוֹלִיםcho/LIMsickוּמְעֻנִּיםu/me/un/NIMand afflictedבְּכׇל־מִינֵיbe/KHOL-mi/NEwith all mannerמַדְוֶהmad/VEof diseasesוּבְשֵׁדִיםu/ve/she/DIMand with devilsוּבְרוּחוֹתu/ve/ru/CHOTand with spiritsטֻמְאָהtum/Aof uncleannessוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand spokeהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelוַיַּרְאֵנִיvay/yar/E/niand showed meאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהet-kol-EL/leall theseוַיְרַפְּאֵםvay/rap/pe/EMand healed themכֹּחַKO/achthe powerשֵׂה־אֱלֹהִיםse-E/lo/HIMof the Lamb of Godוַיְגָרֶשׁvay/GA/reshand He cast outאֶת־הַשֵּׁדִיםet-hash/she/DIMthe devilsוְאֶת־רוּחוֹתve/ET-ru/CHOTand the spiritsהַטֻּמְאָה׃hat/tum/Aof uncleanness

    And he spake unto me again, saying: Look! And I looked, and I beheld the Lamb of God going forth among the children of men. And I beheld multitudes of people who were sick, and who were afflicted with all manner of diseases, and with devils and unclean spirits; and the angel spake and showed all these things unto me. And they were healed by the power of the Lamb of God; and the devils and the unclean spirits were cast out.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainאֵלַיe/LAYunto meהַמַּלְאָךְham/mal/AKHthe angelלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingרְאֵהre/Elookוָאַבִּיטva/ab/BITand I lookedוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand beheldאֶת־שֵׂה־אֱלֹהִיםet-Se-e/lo/HIMthe Lamb of Godכִּיkithatלְקָחוּהוּle/ka/chu/HUHe was takenהָעָםha/AMby the peopleאַףafyeaנִשְׁפַּטnish/PATwas judgedבֶּן־אֵלben-Elthe Son of Godעוֹלָםo/LAMthe everlastingמֵעִםme/IMofהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMthe worldוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawוָאָעִד׃va/a/IDand bare record

    And it came to pass that the angel spake unto me again, saying: Look! And I looked and beheld the Lamb of God, that he was taken by the people; yea, the Son of the everlasting God was judged of the world; and I saw and bear record.

33. 33

    וָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawאֲנִיa/NIIנֶפִיNE/fiNephiכִּיkithatהֹעֲלָהho/a/LAHe was lifted upעַל־הָעֵץal-ha/ETSupon the treeוַיּוּמַתvay/yu/MATand was slainבְּעַדbe/ADforחַטֹּאתchat/TOTthe sinsהָעוֹלָם׃ha/o/LAMof the world

    And I, Nephi, saw that he was lifted up upon the cross and slain for the sins of the world.

34. 34

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהוּמָתוֹhu/ma/TOHis being slainוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawאֶת־הֲמוֹנֵיet-ha/mo/NEthe multitudesהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the earthכִּיkithatנִקְהֲלוּnik/ha/LUgatheredלְהִלָּחֵםle/hil/la/CHEMto fightבִּשְׁלוּחֵיbish/lu/CHEagainst the apostlesהַשֶּׂהhas/SEof the Lambכִּי־כֵןki-khenfor soקָרָאka/RAcalledלָהֶםla/HEMthemמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angelיְהוָה׃Adonaiof Adonai

    And after he was slain I saw the multitudes of the earth, that they were gathered together to fight against the apostles of the Lamb; for thus were the twelve called by the angel of the Lord.

    וַיִּקָּהֵלvay/yik/ka/HELand gatheredהֲמוֹןha/MONthe multitudeהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the earthוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawכִּיkithatהָיוּha/YUthey wereבְּבִנְיָןbe/vin/YANin a buildingגָּדוֹלga/DOLlargeוְרָחָבve/ra/CHAVand spaciousכַּבִּנְיָןkab/bin/YANlike the buildingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichרָאָהra/Asawאָבִיa/VImy fatherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainאֵלַיe/LAYto meמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angelיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingרְאֵהre/Ebeholdאֶת־הָעוֹלָםet-ha/o/LAMthe worldוְחׇכְמָתוֹve/chokh/ma/TOand its wisdomאַףafyeaרְאֵהre/Ebeholdכִּיkithatנִקְהַלnik/HALgathersבֵּית־יִשְׂרָאֵלbet-Yis/ra/ELthe house of Israelלְהִלָּחֵםle/hil/la/CHEMto fightבִּשְׁנֵיםbish/NEMagainst the twoעָשָׂרa/SARtenשְׁלוּחֵיshe/lu/CHEapostlesהַשֶּׂה׃has/SEof the Lamb

    And the multitude of the earth was gathered together; and I beheld that they were in a large and spacious building, like unto the building which my father saw. And the angel of the Lord spake unto me again, saying: Behold the world and the wisdom thereof; yea, behold the house of Israel hath gathered together to fight against the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

    וָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawוָאָעִידva/a/IDand bare recordכִּיkithatהָיָהha/YAwasהַבִּנְיָןhab/bin/YANthe buildingהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe greatוְהָרָחָבve/ha/ra/CHAVand spaciousגַּאֲוַתga/a/VATthe prideהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMof the worldוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand it fellוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand wasמַפַּלְתּוֹmap/pal/TOthe fall thereofגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatעַד־מְאֹדad-me/ODexceedinglyוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainאֵלַיe/LAYunto meמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angelיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכָּכָהKA/khathusתִּהְיֶינָהtih/YE/nashall beחׇרְבוֹתchor/VOTthe destructionכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםkol-hag/go/YIMof all nationsוְהַמִּשְׁפָּחוֹתve/ham/mish/pa/CHOTand kindredsוְהַלְּשֹׁנוֹתve/hal/le/sho/NOTtonguesוְהָעַמִּיםve/ha/am/MIMand peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיִלָּחֲמוּyil/la/cha/MUshall fightבִּשְׁנֵיםbish/NEMagainst the twoעָשָׂרa/SARtenשְׁלוּחֵיshe/lu/CHEapostlesהַשֶּׂה׃has/SEof the Lamb

    And it came to pass that I saw and bear record, that the great and spacious building was the pride of the world; and it fell, and the fall thereof was exceedingly great. And the angel of the Lord spake unto me again, saying: Thus shall be the destruction of all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, that shall fight against the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
