   וַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand returnedלִמְהִיLIM/hiLimhiוְעַמּוֹve/am/MOand his peopleאֶל־עִירel-irto the cityנֶפִיNE/fiof Nephiוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganלָשֶׁבֶתla/SHE/vetto dwellבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landבְּשָׁלוֹם׃be/sha/LOMin peace

   And it came to pass that Limhi and his people returned to the city of Nephi, and began to dwell in the land again in peace.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedמִקֵּץmik/KETSafterיָמִיםya/MIMdaysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/lubeganהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesלְהִתְעוֹרֵרle/hit/o/RERto be stirred upבְּאַףbe/AFin angerעַל־הַנֶּפִיִּיםal-Han/ne/fiy/YIMagainst the Nephitesוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand they beganלָבוֹאla/VOto comeבִּגְבוּלוֹתbig/vu/LOTinto the bordersהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the landסָבִיב׃sa/VIVround about

   And it came to pass that after many days the Lamanites began again to be stirred up in anger against the Nephites, and they began to come into the borders of the land round about.

   Now they durst not slay them, because of the oath which their king had made unto Limhi; but they would smite them on their cheeks, and exercise authority over them; and began to put heavy burdens upon their backs, and drive them as they would a dumb ass—

   Yea, all this was done that the word of the Lord might be fulfilled.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowגָּדְלוּga/de/LUwere greatצָרוֹתtsa/ROTthe afflictionsהַנֶּפִיִּיםhan/Ne/fiy/YIMof the Nephitesמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyוְאֵיןve/ENand there was noדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhwayלְהִנָּצֵלle/hin/na/TSELto deliver themselvesמִיָּדָםmiy/ya/DAMout of their handsכִּיkiforהִקִּיפוּםhik/ki/FUMsurrounded themהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesמִכׇּל־עֵבֶר׃mik/KOL-E/veron every side

   And now the afflictions of the Nephites were great, and there was no way that they could deliver themselves out of their hands, for the Lamanites had surrounded them on every side.

   And it came to pass that the people began to murmur with the king because of their afflictions; and they began to be desirous to go against them to battle. And they did afflict the king sorely with their complaints; therefore he granted unto them that they should do according to their desires.

   וַיִּקָּהֲלוּvay/yik/ka/ha/LUand gathered themselvesיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainוַיִּלְבְּשׁוּvay/yil/be/SHUand put onאֶת־כְּלֵיet-ke/LEthe weaponsמִלְחַמְתָּםmil/cham/TAMof their warוַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand went forthנֶגֶדNE/gedagainstהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesלְגָרְשָׁםle/ga/re/SHAMto drive themמֵאַרְצָם׃me/ar/TSAMout of their land

   And they gathered themselves together again, and put on their armor, and went forth against the Lamanites to drive them out of their land.

   וַיַּכּוּםvay/yak/KUMand smote themהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesוַיַּבְרִיחוּםvay/yav/ri/CHUMand drove them backוַיַּהַרְגוּvay/ya/har/GUand slewרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמֵהֶם׃me/HEMof them

   And it came to pass that the Lamanites did beat them, and drove them back, and slew many of them.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand there wasאֵבֶלE/velmourningוּמִסְפֵּדu/mis/PEDand lamentationגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revamongעַםamthe peopleלִמְהִיLIM/hiof Limhiהָאַלְמָנָהha/al/ma/NAthe widowבּוֹכָהbo/KHAmourningעַל־בַּעְלָהּal-ba/LAfor her husbandהַבֵּןhab/BENthe sonוְהַבַּתve/hab/BATand the daughterבּוֹכִיםbo/KHIMmourningעַל־אֲבִיהֶםal-a/vi/HEMfor their fatherוְהָאַחִיםve/ha/a/CHIMand the brothersעַל־אֲחֵיהֶם׃al-a/che/HEMfor their brethren

   And now there was a great mourning and lamentation among the people of Limhi, the widow mourning for her husband, the son and the daughter mourning for their father, and the brothers for their brethren.

    וַתִּהְיֶינָהvat/tih/YE/naand there wereאַלְמָנוֹתal/ma/NOTwidowsרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landוַתִּזְעַקְנָהvat/tiz/ak/NAand they criedבְּחׇזְקָהbe/choz/KAmightilyיוֹםyomfrom dayיוֹםyomto dayכִּיkiforנָפְלָהna/fe/LAfellעֲלֵיהֶןa/le/HENupon themיִרְאַתyir/ATfearהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesגְּדוֹלָה׃ge/do/LAgreat

    Now there were a great many widows in the land, and they did cry mightily from day to day, for a great fear of the Lamanites had come upon them.

    וַיְעוֹרְרוּvay/or/RUand stirred upזַעֲקוֹתֵיהֶןza/a/ko/te/HENtheir criesתָּמִידta/MIDcontinuallyאֶת־שְׁאֵרִיתet-she/e/RITthe remnantעַםamof the peopleלִמְהִיLIM/hiof Limhiלְאַףle/AFto angerעַל־הַלָּמָנִיםal-Hal/la/ma/NIMagainst the Lamanitesוַיָּשׁוּבוּvay/ya/SHU/vuand they went againלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAto battleוַיֻּכּוּvay/yuk/KUand were smittenשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainוַיִּסְבְּלוּvay/yis/be/LUand sufferedאׇבְדָןov/DANlossרָב׃ravgreat

    And it came to pass that their continual cries did stir up the remainder of the people of Limhi to anger against the Lamanites; and they went again to battle, but they were driven back again, suffering much loss.

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoשָׁבוּSHA/vuthey wentבַּשְּׁלִישִׁיתbash/she/li/SHITa third timeוַיִּסְבְּלוּvay/yis/be/LUand sufferedכְּפַעַם־בְּפַעַםke/FA/am-be/FA/amin like mannerוְהַנּוֹתָרִיםve/han/no/ta/RIMand those who remainedמֵהֶםme/HEMof themשָׁבוּSHA/vureturnedאֶל־עִירel-irto the cityנֶפִי׃NE/fiof Nephi

    Yea, they went again even the third time, and suffered in the like manner; and those that were not slain returned again to the city of Nephi.

    וַיִּכָּנְעוּvay/yik/ka/ne/Uand humbled themselvesעַד־לֶעָפָרad-le/a/FAReven to the dustוַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand yieldedצַוָּארָםtsav/va/RAMtheir necksבְּעֹלbe/OLin the yokeהָעַבְדוּתha/av/DUTof bondageוַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand submitted themselvesלְהַכּוֹתָםle/hak/ko/TAMto be smittenוּלְהַסִּיעָםu/le/has/si/AMand to be drivenהֵנָּהHEN/nahitherוָהֵנָּהva/HEN/naand thitherוּלְהַעְבִידָםu/le/ha/vi/DAMand made to laborכִּרְצוֹןkir/TSONaccording to the desiresאוֹיְבֵיהֶם׃oy/ve/HEMof their enemies

    And they did humble themselves even to the dust, subjecting themselves to the yoke of bondage, submitting themselves to be smitten, and to be driven to and fro, and burdened, according to the desires of their enemies.

    וַיִּכָּנְעוּvay/yik/ka/ne/Uand humbled themselvesעַד־שִׁפְלוּתad-shif/LUTto the depthsהַשִּׁפְלוּתhash/shif/LUTof humilityוַיִּזְעֲקוּvay/yiz/a/KUand they criedבְּחׇזְקָהbe/choz/KAmightilyאֶל־אֱלֹהִיםel-e/lo/HIMto Godוְכׇל־הַיּוֹםve/KHOL-hay/YOMand all the dayזָעֲקוּza/a/KUdid they cryאֶל־אֱלֹהֵיהֶםel-e/lo/he/HEMunto their Godלְהַצִּילָםle/hats/tsi/LAMthat He would deliver themמִצָּרוֹתֵיהֶם׃mits/tsa/ro/te/HEMout of their afflictions

    And they did humble themselves even in the depths of humility; and they did cry mightily to God; yea, even all the day long did they cry unto their God that he would deliver them out of their afflictions.

    וַיִּתְמַהְמַהּvay/yit/mah/MAand was slowיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato hearזַעֲקָתָםza/a/ka/TAMtheir cryבַּעֲוֹנוֹתֵיהֶםba/a/vo/no/te/HEMbecause of their iniquitiesאַךְakhneverthelessשָׁמַעsha/MAheardיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiאֶת־זַעֲקוֹתָםet-za/a/ko/TAMtheir criesוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganלְרַכֵּךְle/rak/KEKHto softenאֶת־לֵבet-levthe heartsהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand they beganלְהָקֵלle/ha/KELto easeמֵעֻלָּםme/ul/LAMfrom their burdenוְלֹאve/LOyet notרָאָהra/AsawיְהוָהAdonaiAdonaiלְנָכוֹןle/na/KHONfitלְהוֹצִיאָםle/ho/tsi/AMto deliver themמֵעַבְדוּת׃me/av/DUTout of bondage

    And now the Lord was slow to hear their cry because of their iniquities; nevertheless the Lord did hear their cries, and began to soften the hearts of the Lamanites that they began to ease their burdens; yet the Lord did not see fit to deliver them out of bondage.

    וַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand they beganלְהַצְלִיחַle/hats/LI/achto prosperמְעַטme/ATlittleמְעַטme/ATby littleבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganלִזְרֹעַliz/RO/ato sowדָּגָןda/GANgrainלָרֹבla/ROVin abundanceוְלִרְעוֹתve/lir/OTand to raiseצֹאןtsonflocksוּבָקָרu/va/KARand herdsוְלֹא־סָבְלוּve/LO-sa/ve/LUand they did not sufferעוֹדodmoreרָעָב׃ra/AVhunger

    And it came to pass that they began to prosper by degrees in the land, and began to raise grain more abundantly, and flocks, and herds, that they did not suffer with hunger.

17. 17

    וַתִּהְיֶינָהvat/tih/YE/naand there wereנָשִׁיםna/SHIMwomenרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreמֵאֲנָשִׁיםme/a/na/SHIMthan menעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלִמְהִיLIM/hiLimhiכִּיkithatיִתֵּןyit/TENshould giveכׇּל־אִישׁkol-ishevery manלְמִחְיַתle/mich/YATto the supportהָאַלְמָנוֹתha/al/ma/NOTof the widowsוּבְנֵיהֶןu/ve/ne/HENand their childrenלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notיִגְוְעוּyig/ve/Uthey perishבָּרָעָבba/ra/AVof hungerוְכָכָהve/KHA/khaand thusעָשׂוּa/SUthey didכִּיkiforרַבravgreatהָיָהha/YAwasמִסְפַּרmis/PARthe numberהַנֶּהֱרָגִים׃han/ne/he/ra/GIMof those who had been slain

    Now there was a great number of women, more than there was of men; therefore king Limhi commanded that every man should impart to the support of the widows and their children, that they might not perish with hunger; and this they did because of the greatness of their number that had been slain.

    וַיִּשְׁמֹרvay/yish/MORand keptעַםamthe peopleלִמְהִיLIM/hiof Limhiלַעֲמֹדla/a/MODto standיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיָכְלוּya/khe/LUthey couldוַיִּשְׁמְרוּvay/yish/me/RUand preservedאֶת־דְּגָנָםet-de/ga/NAMtheir grainוְאֶת־מִקְנֵיהֶם׃ve/ET-mik/ne/HEMand their flocks

    Now the people of Limhi kept together in a body as much as it was possible, and secured their grain and their flocks;

19. 19

    וְהַמֶּלֶךְve/ham/ME/lekhand the kingלֹא־בָטַחlo-va/TACHdid not trustלָצֵאתla/TSETto go forthמִחוּץmi/CHUTSoutsideלְחוֹמוֹתle/cho/MOTthe wallsהָעִירha/IRof the cityבְּלִיbe/LIwithoutשׁוֹמְרָיוshom/RAYVhis guardsפֶּן־יִפֹּלpen-yip/POLlest he should fallבְּיַדbe/YADinto the handsהַלָּמָנִים׃hal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanites

    And the king himself did not trust his person without the walls of the city, unless he took his guards with him, fearing that he might by some means fall into the hands of the Lamanites.

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he commandedאֶת־עַמּוֹet-am/MOhis peopleלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto watchאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landסָבִיבsa/VIVround aboutאוּלַיu/LAYperhapsיִתְפְּשׂוּyit/pe/SUthey might takeאֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִיםet-hak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsהָהֵםha/HEMthoseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבָּרְחוּba/re/CHUfledלַמִּדְבָּרlam/mid/BARinto the wildernessאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoגָּנְבוּga/ne/VUstoleאֶת־בְּנוֹתet-be/NOTthe daughtersהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand thatהֵבִיאוּhe/VI/ubroughtשֶׁבֶרSHE/verdestructionגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatעֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMupon them

    And he caused that his people should watch the land round about, that by some means they might take those priests that fled into the wilderness, who had stolen the daughters of the Lamanites, and that had caused such a great destruction to come upon them.

    כִּיkiforחָפְצוּcha/fe/TSUthey were desirousלִתְפֹּשׂlit/POSto seizeאוֹתָםo/TAMthemלְעׇנְשָׁםle/on/SHAMto punish themכִּי־בָאוּki-VA/ufor they cameאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsinto the landנֶפִיNE/fiof Nephiבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/laby nightוַיִּגְנְבוּvay/yig/ne/VUand stolenאֶת־דְּגָנָםet-de/ga/NAMtheir grainוְרַבּוֹתve/rab/BOTand manyמִסְּגֻלּוֹתֵיהֶםmis/se/gul/lo/te/HEMof their precious thingsעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאָרְבוּa/re/VUthey laid waitלָהֶם׃la/HEMfor them

    For they were desirous to take them that they might punish them; for they had come into the land of Nephi by night, and carried off their grain and many of their precious things; therefore they laid wait for them.

    וְלֹא־הָיָהve/LO-HA/yaand there was noעוֹדodmoreמָדוֹןma/DONstrifeבֵּיןbenbetweenהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMthe Lamanitesוּבֵיןu/VENandעַםamthe peopleלִמְהִיLIM/hiof Limhiעַד־עֵתad-eteven until the timeבּוֹאboof the comingעַמּוֹןAm/MONof Ammonוְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brethrenאֶל־הָאָרֶץ׃el-ha/A/retsinto the land

    And it came to pass that there was no more disturbance between the Lamanites and the people of Limhi, even until the time that Ammon and his brethren came into the land.

    And the king having been without the gates of the city with his guard, discovered Ammon and his brethren; and supposing them to be priests of Noah therefore he caused that they should be taken, and bound, and cast into prison. And had they been the priests of Noah he would have caused that they should be put to death.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it happenedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenרָאָהra/Asawכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notהֵםhemtheyוְכִיve/KHIbut thatאֶחָיוe/CHAYVhis brethrenהֵםhemtheyוְכִיve/KHIand thatבָאוּVA/uthey cameמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the landזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaוַיִּמָּלֵאvay/yim/ma/LEhe was filled withשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAjoyגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatמְאֹד׃me/ODexceedingly

    But when he found that they were not, but that they were his brethren, and had come from the land of Zarahemla, he was filled with exceedingly great joy.

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdשָׁלַחsha/LACHsentהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלִמְהִיLIM/hiLimhiלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeבוֹאvothe comingעַמּוֹןAm/MONof Ammonאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenמְעַטִּיםme/at/TIMfewלְבַקֵּשׁle/vak/KESHto search forאֶת־אֶרֶץet-E/retsthe landזָרַהֶמְלָהZa/ra/HEM/laof Zarahemlaוְלֹאve/LOand notיָכְלוּya/khe/LUthey couldלְמׇצְאָהּle/mots/Afind itוַיִּתְעוּvay/yit/Uand they wanderedבַמִּדְבָּר׃vam/mid/BARin the wilderness

    Now king Limhi had sent, previous to the coming of Ammon, a small number of men to search for the land of Zarahemla; but they could not find it, and they were lost in the wilderness.

    Nevertheless, they did find a land which had been peopled; yea, a land which was covered with dry bones; yea, a land which had been peopled and which had been destroyed; and they, having supposed it to be the land of Zarahemla, returned to the land of Nephi, having arrived in the borders of the land not many days before the coming of Ammon.

    וַיָּבִיאוּvay/ya/VI/uand they broughtסֵפֶרSE/fera recordעִמָּםim/MAMwith themוְהוּאve/HUand it wasסֵפֶרSE/fera recordדִּבְרֵיdiv/REof the wordsהָעָםha/AMof the peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoseמָצְאוּma/tse/Uthey foundאֶת־עַצְמוֹתֵיהֶםet-ats/mo/te/HEMtheir bonesוַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasחָרוּתcha/RUTengravenעַל־לוּחוֹתal-lu/CHOTupon platesעׇפְרָה׃of/RAof ore

    And they brought a record with them, even a record of the people whose bones they had found; and it was engraven on plates of ore.

    וַיִּמָּלֵאvay/yim/ma/LEand was filledלִמְהִיLIM/hiLimhiשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAwith joyשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainבְּשׇׁמְעוֹbe/shom/Owhen he heardמִפִּיmip/PIfrom the mouthעַמּוֹןAm/MONof Ammonכִּי־יֵשׁki-yeshthat hadלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhto the kingמוֹשִׁיָּהMo/SHIY/yaMosiahמַתַּתmat/TATa giftאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godלְתַרְגֵּםle/tar/GEMwhereby he could interpretאֶת־הַחֲרוּתוֹתet-ha/cha/ru/TOTthe engravingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיִּשְׂמַחvay/yis/MACHand rejoicedגַּםgamalsoעַמּוֹן׃Am/MONAmmon

    And now Limhi was again filled with joy on learning from the mouth of Ammon that king Mosiah had a gift from God, whereby he could interpret such engravings; yea, and Ammon also did rejoice.

29. 29

    וַיִּמָּלְאוּvay/yim/ma/le/Uand were filledעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonוְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brethrenיָגוֹןya/GONwith sorrowעַל־אֲשֶׁרal-a/SHERbecauseנֶהֶרְגוּne/her/GUhad been slainרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמֵאֲחֵיהֶם׃me/a/che/HEMof their brethren

    Yet Ammon and his brethren were filled with sorrow because so many of their brethren had been slain;

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoעַל־אֲשֶׁרal-a/SHERbecauseהֶחֱטִיאוּhe/che/TI/ucausedהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingנֹחַNO/achNoahוְכֹהֲנָיוve/kho/ha/NAYVand his priestsאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleלַחֲטֹאla/cha/TOto commitחֲטָאִיםcha/ta/IMsinsוַעֲוֹנוֹתva/a/vo/NOTand iniquitiesרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMagainst Godוַיִּתְאַבְּלוּvay/yit/ab/be/LUand they mournedגַּםgamalsoעַל־מוֹתal-motfor the deathאֲבִינָדִיA/VI/na/diof Abinadiוְגַםve/GAMand alsoעַל־צֵאתal-tsetfor the departureאַלְמָאAL/maof Almaוְהָעָםve/ha/AMand the peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָלְכוּha/le/KHUwentאִתּוֹit/TOwith himאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהֵקִימוּhe/KI/muestablishedעֲדַתa/DATthe churchאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godבְּעֹזbe/OZby the strengthוּגְבוּרַתu/ge/vu/RATand powerאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMof Godוֶאֱמוּנָהve/e/mu/NAand faithבַּדְּבָרִיםbad/de/va/RIMin the wordsאֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרa/SHER-dib/BERwhich spokeאֲבִינָדִי׃A/VI/na/diAbinadi

    And also that king Noah and his priests had caused the people to commit so many sins and iniquities against God; and they also did mourn for the death of Abinadi; and also for the departure of Alma and the people that went with him, who had formed a church of God through the strength and power of God, and faith on the words which had been spoken by Abinadi.

31. 31

    וַיִּתְאַבְּלוּvay/yit/ab/be/LUand they mournedעַל־צֵאתָםal-tse/TAMfor their departureכִּי־לֹאki-lofor notיָדְעוּya/de/Uthey knewאָנָהA/nawhitherנָסוּNA/suthey fledוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowחָפְצוּcha/fe/TSUthey were desirousלְהִתְחַבֵּרle/hit/chab/BERto joinאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMwith themכִּיkiforגַּם־הֵםgam-hemalso theyבָּאוּBA/uenteredבִבְרִיתviv/RITinto a covenant withאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלְעׇבְדוֹle/ov/DOto serve Himוְלִשְׁמֹרve/lish/MORand to keepמִצְוֹתָיו׃mits/vo/TAYVHis commandments

    Yea, they did mourn for their departure, for they knew not whither they had fled. Now they would have gladly joined with them, for they themselves had entered into a covenant with God to serve him and keep his commandments.

32. 32

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowמֵאָזme/AZsinceבּוֹאbothe comingעַמּוֹןAm/MONof Ammonגַּם־הַמֶּלֶךְgam-ham/ME/lekhalso the kingלִמְהִיLIM/hiLimhiבָּאbaenteredבִבְרִיתviv/RITinto a covenant withאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְגַםve/GAMand alsoרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמֵעַמּוֹme/am/MOof his peopleלְעׇבְדוֹle/ov/DOto serve Himוְלִשְׁמֹרve/lish/MORand to keepמִצְוֹתָיו׃mits/vo/TAYVHis commandments

    And now since the coming of Ammon, king Limhi had also entered into a covenant with God, and also many of his people, to serve him and keep his commandments.

33. 33

    וַיַּחְפֹּץvay/yach/POTSand was desirousהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלִמְהִיLIM/hiLimhiוְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyמֵעַמּוֹme/am/MOof his peopleלְהִטָּבֵלle/hit/ta/VELto be baptizedוְאֵיןve/ENbut there was noבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landאִישׁishmanאֲשֶׁר־לוֹa/SHER-lowho hadשִׁלְטוֹןshil/TONauthorityמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMfrom Godוַיְמָאֵןvay/ma/ENand declinedעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבְּחׇשְׁבוֹbe/chosh/VOconsideringנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhimselfלְעֶבֶדle/E/veda servantבִּלְתִּיbil/TInotרָאוּי׃ra/UYworthy

    And it came to pass that king Limhi and many of his people were desirous to be baptized; but there was none in the land that had authority from God. And Ammon declined doing this thing, considering himself an unworthy servant.

34. 34

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeלֹאlonotהֵקִימוּhe/KI/mudid they establishעֵדָהe/DAa churchבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatוַיְחַכּוּvay/chak/KUwaitingלְרוּחַle/RU/achupon the SpiritיְהוָהAdonaiof Adonaiוַיַּחְפְּצוּvay/yach/pe/TSUand they were desirousלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beכְּאַלְמָאke/AL/maeven as Almaוְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brethrenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנָסוּNA/sufledלַמִּדְבָּר׃lam/mid/BARinto the wilderness

    Therefore they did not at that time form themselves into a church, waiting upon the Spirit of the Lord. Now they were desirous to become even as Alma and his brethren, who had fled into the wilderness.

35. 35

    וַיַּחְפְּצוּvay/yach/pe/TSUand they desiredלְהִטָּבֵלle/hit/ta/VELto be baptizedלְאוֹתle/OTfor a witnessוּלְעֵדוּתu/le/e/DUTand a testimonyכִּיkithatנְכוֹנִיםne/kho/NIMwillingהֵםhemthey wereלַעֲבֹדla/a/VODto serveאֶת־אֱלֹהִיםet-e/lo/HIMGodבְּכׇל־לְבָבָםbe/KHOL-le/va/VAMwith all their heartsאַךְakhneverthelessהֶאֱרִיכוּhe/e/RI/khuthey prolongedאֶת־הַמּוֹעֵדet-ham/mo/EDthe timeוְסִפּוּרve/sip/PURand an accountטְבִילָתָםte/vi/la/TAMof their baptismיִנָּתֵןyin/na/TENshall be givenאַחֲרֵי־כֵן׃a/cha/RE-khenhereafter

    They were desirous to be baptized as a witness and a testimony that they were willing to serve God with all their hearts; nevertheless they did prolong the time; and an account of their baptism shall be given hereafter.

36. 36

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowכׇּל־מַחֲשֶׁבֶתkol-ma/cha/SHE/vetall the thoughtעַמּוֹןAm/MONof Ammonוְעַמּוֹve/am/MOand his peopleוְהַמֶּלֶךְve/ham/ME/lekhand the kingלִמְהִיLIM/hiLimhiוְעַמּוֹve/am/MOand his peopleהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasלְהִנָּצֵלle/hin/na/TSELto deliver themselvesמִיַּדmiy/YADout of the handsהַלָּמָנִיםhal/La/ma/NIMof the Lamanitesוּמֵעַבְדוּת׃u/me/av/DUTand from bondage

    And now all the study of Ammon and his people, and king Limhi and his people, was to deliver themselves out of the hands of the Lamanites and from bondage.
