    וּמַה־נֹּאמַרwhat-shall-we-sayאֵפוֹאthenעַל־אַבְרָהָםof-Abrahamאָבִינוּour-fatherמַה־זֶּהwhatהִשִׂיגhath-foundלְפִיas-pertaining-toהַבָּשָׂר׃the-flesh

    What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

    כִּיforאִם־נִצְדַּקif-were-justifiedאַבְרָהָםAbrahamמִתּוֹךְbyהַמַּעֲשִׂיםworksלוֹhe-hathהַתְּהִילָּהwhereof-to-gloryאֲבָלbutלֹאnotלִפְנֵיbeforeהָאֱלֹהִים׃God

    For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

    כִּיforמָהwhatאָמַרsaithהַכָּתוּבthe-scriptureוְהֶאֱמִןand-believedאַבְרָהָםAbrahamבֵּאלֹהִיםGodוַיַּחְשְׁבֶהָand-it-was-countedלּוֹunto-himצְדָקָה׃for-righteousness

    For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

    הִנֵּהnowהַפֹּעֵלto-him-that-workethלֹא־יֵחָשֵׁבis-not-reckonedלוֹhisשְׂכָרוֹrewardלְפִיofהֶחָסֶדgraceכִּיbutאִם־לְפִיofהַחוֹבָה׃debt

    Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

    אֲבָלbutלַאֲשֶׁרto-him-whoאֵינֶנּוּnotפֹעֵלworkethכִּיbutאִם־מַאֲמִיןbelievethבַּמַּצְדִּיקon-him-that-justifiethאֶת־הָרָשָׁעthe-ungodlyאֱמוּנָתוֹhis-faithתֵּחָשֶׁבis-countedלוֹunto-himלִצְדָקָה׃for-righteousness

    But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

    כַּאֲשֶׁרeven-asגַּם־דָּוִדDavid-alsoמְאַשֵּׁרdescribeth-the-blessedness-ofאֶת־הָאָדָםthe-manאֲשֶׁרunto-whomהָאֱלֹהִיםGodיַחְשָׁב־לוֹimputeth-to-himצְדָקָהrighteousnessבְּלֹאwithoutמַעֲשִׂיםworksבְּאׇמְרוֹ׃saying

    Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

    אַשְׁרֵיblessed-are-theyנְשׂוּי־פֶּשַׁעwhose-iniquities-are-forgivenכְּסוּיand-whose-covered-areחֲטָאָה׃sins

    Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

    אַשְׁרֵיblessed-isאָדָםthe-manלֹא־יַחְשֹׁבwill-not-imputeהָאָדוֹןthe-Lordלוֹto-himעָוֹן׃sin

    Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

  9. 9

    וּבְכֵןthenהָאִשּׁוּרthe-blessednessהַזֶּהthisהַעַל־הַמִּילָהis-it-upon-the-circumcisionהוּאonlyאוֹ־גַםor-alsoעַל־הָעׇרְלָהupon-the-uncircumcisionהֲלֹאforאָמַרְנוּwe-sayכִּיthatלְאַבְרָהָםto-Abrahamנֶחְשְׁבָהwas-reckonedאֱמוּנָתוֹhis-faithלִצְדָקָה׃for-righteousness

    Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

    וְאֵימָתַיhow-thenנֶחְשְׁבָה־לּוֹwas-it-reckoned-to-himבִּהְיוֹתוֹwhen-he-wasנִמּוֹלin-circumcisionאוֹorבְּעוֹדֶנּוּwhile-stillעָרֵלuncircumcisedהֵןverilyלֹאnotבִּהְיוֹתוֹwhen-he-wasנִמּוֹלin-circumcisionכִּיbutאִםratherבְּעוֹדֶנּוּwhile-stillעָרֵל׃uncircumcised

    How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

    וְאוֹתand-the-sign-ofהַמִּילָהcircumcisionנִתַּןwas-givenלוֹto-himלְחוֹתַםa-seal-ofצִדְקַתthe-righteousness-ofהָאֱמוּנָהthe-faithאֲשֶׁרwhichהָיְתָה־לּוֹhe-hadוְהוּאbeing-yetעָרֵלuncircumcisedלִהְיוֹתthat-he-might-beלְאָבthe-father-ofלְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרall-them-thatיַאֲמִינוּbelieveוְהֵםthough-they-beעֲרֵלִיםuncircumcisedלְמַעַןthatתֵּחָשֵׁבmight-be-imputedהַצְּדָקָהrighteousnessאַף־לָהֶם׃unto-them-also

    And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

    וְלִהְיוֹתand-to-beלְאָבthe-fatherגַּם־לַמּוּלִיםof-circumcision-alsoאַךְ־לֹאbut-notלַאֲשֶׁרto-them-whoאֵינָםareאֶלָּאonlyנִמּוֹלִיםcircumcisedכִּיbutאִם־גַּם־הֹלְכִיםwho-also-walkבְּעִקְּבוֹתin-the-steps-ofהָאֱמוּנָהthe-faithשֶׁהָיְתָה־לּוֹwhich-he-hadלְאַבְרָהָםof-Abrahamאָבִינוּour-fatherבְּעוֹדֶנּוּbeing-yetעָרֵל׃uncircumcised

    And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

    כִּיforלֹאnotעַל־יְדֵיthroughתוֹרָהthe-lawהָיְתָהwasהַהַבְטָחָהthe-promiseלְאַבְרָהָםto-Abrahamאוֹorלְזַרְעוֹto-his-seedלִהְיוֹתthat-he-should-beיֹרֵשׁthe-heir-ofהָעוֹלָםthe-worldכִּיbutאִם־עַל־יְדֵיthroughצִדְקַתthe-righteousness-ofהָאֱמוּנָה׃faith

    For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

    כִּיforאִלּוּifהָיְתָהbeהַיְרֻשָּׁהthe-inheritanceלִבְנֵי־הַתּוֹרָהto-them-of-the-lawהָאֱמוּנָהfaithתִּהְיֶהis-madeלָרִיקvoidוְהַהַבְטָחָהand-the-promiseבְּטֵלָה׃of-none-effect

    For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:

  15. 15

    יַעַןbecauseאֲשֶׁרwhichהַתּוֹרָהthe-lawמְבִיאָהworkethקָצֶףwrathכִּיforבְּאֵיןwhere-noתּוֹרָהlawאֵיןthere-is-noעֲבֵרָה׃transgression

    Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

    עַל־כֵּןthereforeמֵאֱמוּנָהit-is-of-faithלְמַעַןthatתִּהְיֶהit-might-beלְפִי־חֶסֶדby-graceבַּעֲבוּרto-the-endאֲשֶׁרthatתִּכּוֹןmight-be-sureהַהַבְטָחָהthe-promiseלְכׇלto-allהַזָּרַעthe-seedלֹאnotלִבְנֵיto-them-ofהַתּוֹרָהthe-lawלְבַדָּםonlyכִּי־גַםbut-alsoלִבְנֵיto-them-ofאֱמוּנַתthe-faith-ofאַבְרָהָםAbrahamאֲשֶׁרwhoהוּאisאָבthe-fatherלְכֻלָּנוּ׃of-us-all

    Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

    כַּכָּתוּבas-it-is-writtenכִּיthatאַב־הֲמוֹןa-father-of-manyגּוֹיִםnationsנְתַתִּיךָI-have-made-youוְהוּאand-heהֶאֱמִיןbelievedכִּיthatנֶגֶדbeforeפָּנָיוhis-faceאֱלֹהִיםis-Godהַמְחַיֶּהwho-quickenethאֶת־הַמֵּתִיםthe-deadוְהַקּוֹרֵאand-callethלְמַה־שֶּׁלֹא־הָיָהthose-things-which-be-notכְּמוֹas-thoughהוֶֹה׃they-were

    (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

    בְּאֶפֶסagainstתִּקְוָהhopeהֶאֱמִיןbelievedבְּתִקְוָהin-hopeלְמַעַןthatאֲשֶׁרheיִהְיֶהmight-becomeלְאַבthe-father-ofהֲמוֹןmanyגּוֹיִםnationsכְּמוֹaccording-toשֶׁנֶּאֱמַרthat-which-was-spokenכֹּהsoיִהְיֶהshall-beזַרְעֶךָ׃your-seed

    Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

  19. 19

    וְלֹאand-notרָפְתָהwas-weakאֱמוּנָתוֹhis-faithבְּהִתְבּוֹנֲנוֹhe-consideredאֶל־בְּשָׂרוֹhis-own-bodyאֲשֶׁרwhichהָיָהwasכַמֵּתnow-deadבִּהְיוֹתוֹwhen-he-wasכְּבֶן־מְאַתabout-an-hundredשָׁנָהyears-oldוְאֶל־רֶחֶםneither-the-womb-ofשָׂרָהSaraאֲשֶׁרwhichבָּלָה׃was-dead

    And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:

    וְלֹא־חָלַקhe-staggered-notלִבּוֹhis-heartבְּהַבְטָחַתat-the-promise-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodכִּמְחֻסַּרthrough-lack-ofאֱמוּנָהfaithכִּיbutאִם־הִתְחַזֵּקwas-strongבֶּאֱמוּנָתוֹin-faithוַיִּתֵּןgivingכָּבוֹדgloryלֵאלֹהִים׃to-God

    He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

  21. 21

    וְנַפְשׁוֹand-his-soulיֹדַעַתbeing-persuadedמְאֹדfullyכִּיthatאֶת־אֲשֶׁרwhatהִבְטִיחַhe-had-promisedגַּם־יָכֹלhe-was-able-alsoלַעֲשׂוֹתוֹ׃to-perform

    And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

  22. 22

    עַל־כֵּןand-thereforeגַּם־נֶחְשְׁבָה־לּוֹit-was-imputed-to-himלִצְדָקָה׃for-righteousness

    And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

  23. 23

    וְלֹא־לְמַעֲנוֹnow-not-for-his-sakeלְבַדaloneכָּתוּבwas-writtenהַדָּבָרthe-thingהַזֶּהthisשֶׁנֶּחְשְׁבָהthat-it-was-imputedלוֹ׃to-him

    Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

    כִּיbutאִם־גַּםalsoלְמַעֲנֵנוּfor-our-sakeאֲשֶׁרto-whomעֲתִידָהit-shallלְהֵחָשֵׁבbe-imputedלָנוּto-usהַמַּאֲמִינִיםwho-believeבְּמִיon-himשֶׁהֵעִירthat-raised-upאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַJesusאֲדֹנֵינוּour-Lordמִן־הַמֵּתִים׃from-the-dead

    But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

  25. 25

    אֲשֶׁרwhoנִמְסַרwas-deliveredבַּעֲבוּרforפְּשָׁעֵינוּour-offensesוְנֵעוֹרand-was-raised-againלְבַעֲבוּרforצַדְּקֵנוּ׃our-justification

    Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
