   וּמַה־נֹּאמַרu/MA-no/MARand what shall we sayאֵפוֹאe/FOthenעַל־אַבְרָהָםal-Av/ra/HAMabout Abrahamאָבִינוּa/VI/nuour fatherמַה־זֶּהma-zewhat is itמָצָאma/TSAfoundלְפִיle/FIaccording toהַבָּשָׂר׃hab/ba/SARthe flesh

   What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

   כִּיkiforאִם־נִצְדַּקim-nits/DAKif was justifiedאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamבַּמַּעֲשִׂיםbam/ma/a/SIMby worksלוֹlohe hasתְהִלָּהte/hil/LApraiseאֲבָלa/VALbutלֹאlonotלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

   For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

   כִּיkiforמָהmawhatאָמַרa/MARsaysהַכָּתוּבhak/ka/TUVthe scriptureוְהֶאֱמִןve/he/e/MINand he believedאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamבֵּאלֹהִיםbe/lo/HIMin Godוַיַּחְשְׁבֶהָvay/yach/she/VE/haand He counted itלּוֹloto himצְדָקָה׃tse/da/KAfor righteousness

   For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַפֹּעֵלhap/po/ELthe one who worksלֹא־יֵחָשֵׁבlo-ye/cha/SHEVis not countedלוֹloto himשְׂכָרוֹse/kha/ROhis wageלְפִיle/FIaccording toהֶחָסֶדhe/CHA/sedgraceכִּיkibutאִם־לְפִיim-le/FIrather according toהַחוֹבָה׃ha/cho/VAdebt

   Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

   אֲבָלa/VALbutלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERto the one whoאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nudoes notפֹעֵלfo/ELworkכִּיkibutאִם־מַאֲמִיןim-ma/a/MINrather believesבַּמַּצְדִּיקbam/Mats/DIKin the One who justifiesאֶת־הָרָשָׁעet-ha/ra/SHAthe wickedאֱמוּנָתוֹe/mu/na/TOhis faithתֵּחָשֶׁבte/CHA/shevis countedלוֹloto himלִצְדָקָה׃lits/da/KAfor righteousness

   But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

   כַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasגַּם־דָּוִדGam-da/VIDDavid alsoמְאַשֵּׁרme/ash/SHERcalls blessedאֶת־הָאָדָםet-ha/a/DAMthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodיַחְשׇׁב־לוֹyach/SHOV-locounts to himצְדָקָהtse/da/KArighteousnessבְּלֹאbe/LOwithoutמַעֲשִׂים׃ma/a/SIMworks

   Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

   בְּאׇמְרוֹbe/om/ROsayingאַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoseנִשְּׂאוּnis/se/Uare forgivenעֲוֹנֹתָםa/vo/no/TAMiniquitiesוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoseכֻּסּוּkus/SUare coveredחַטֹּאתָם׃chat/to/TAMtheir sins

   Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8. 8

   אַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed isאָדָםa/DAMa manלֹא־יַחְשֹׁבlo-yach/SHOVwill not countהָאָדוֹןha/a/DONthe Lordלוֹloto himחֵטְא׃chetsin

   Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

   וּבְכֵןu/ve/KHENand soהָאֹשֶׁרha/O/sherblessednessהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisהַעַל־הַמִּילָהHA/al-ham/mi/LAis it on the circumcisionהוּאhuitאוֹ־גַםo-gamor alsoעַל־הָעׇרְלָהal-ha/or/LAon the uncircumcisionכִּיkiforאָמַרְנוּa/MAR/nuwe sayכִּיkithatלְאַבְרָהָםle/Av/ra/HAMto Abrahamנֶחְשְׁבָהnech/she/VAwas countedאֱמוּנָתוֹe/mu/na/TOhis faithלִצְדָקָה׃lits/da/KAfor righteousness

   Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.

    וְאֵיךְve/EKHand howנֶחְשְׁבָה־לּוֹnech/she/VA-lowas it counted to himבִּהְיוֹתוֹbih/yo/TOwhen he wasנִמּוֹלnim/MOLcircumcisedאוֹoorבְּעוֹדֶנּוּbe/o/DEN/nuwhile he was stillעָרֵלa/RELuncircumcisedהֵןhenbeholdלֹאlonotבִּהְיוֹתוֹbih/yo/TOwhen he wasנִמּוֹלnim/MOLcircumcisedכִּיkibutאִםimratherבְּעוֹדֶנּוּbe/o/DEN/nuwhile he was stillעָרֵל׃a/RELuncircumcised

    How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

    וַיְקַבֵּלvay/kab/BELand he receivedאֶת־אוֹתet-otthe sign ofהַמִּילָהham/mi/LAcircumcisionלְחוֹתַםle/cho/TAMas a seal ofצִדְקַתtsid/KATthe righteousness ofהָאֱמוּנָהha/e/mu/NAfaithאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהָיְתָה־לּוֹha/ye/TA-lohe hadבְּעוֹדֶנּוּbe/o/DEN/nuwhile he was stillעָרֵלa/RELuncircumcisedלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beלְאָבle/AVa fatherלְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרle/KHOL-a/SHERto all whoיַאֲמִינוּya/a/MI/nubelieveוְהֵםve/HEMwhile they areעֲרֵלִיםa/re/LIMuncircumcisedלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתֵּחָשֵׁבte/cha/SHEVmay be countedהַצְּדָקָהhats/tse/da/KAthe righteousnessאַף־לָהֶם׃af-la/HEMto them also

    And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

    וְלִהְיוֹתve/lih/YOTand to beאָבavthe father ofהַמִּילָהham/mi/LAcircumcisionלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERto those whoאֵינָםe/NAMare notמִן־הַמִּילָהmin-ham/mi/LAof the circumcisionלְבַדle/VADonlyכִּיkibutאִם־גַּם־הֹלְכִיםim-gam-hol/KHIMrather also walkבְּעִקְּבוֹתbe/ik/ke/VOTin the footsteps ofהָאֱמוּנָהha/e/mu/NAthe faithאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהָיְתָה־לּוֹha/ye/TA-lohe hadלְאַבְרָהָםle/Av/ra/HAMto Abrahamאָבִינוּa/VI/nuour fatherבְּעוֹדֶנּוּbe/o/DEN/nuwhile he was stillעָרֵל׃a/RELuncircumcised

    And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

13. 13

    כִּיkiforלֹאlonotעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEthroughתוֹרָהto/RAlawהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasהַהַבְטָחָהha/hav/ta/CHAthe promiseלְאַבְרָהָםle/Av/ra/HAMto Abrahamאוֹoorלְזַרְעוֹle/zar/Oto his seedלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beיֹרֵשׁyo/RESHthe heir ofהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMthe worldכִּיkibutאִם־עַל־יְדֵיim-al-ye/DErather throughצִדְקַתtsid/KATthe righteousness ofהָאֱמוּנָה׃ha/e/mu/NAfaith

    For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

14. 14

    כִּיkiforאִםimifבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawיֹרְשִׁיםyor/SHIMheirsהָאֱמוּנָהha/e/mu/NAfaithתִּהְיֶהtih/YEwould beלָרִיקla/RIKemptyוְהַהַבְטָחָהve/ha/hav/ta/CHAand the promiseתֻּפַר׃tu/FARmade of none effect

    For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:

15. 15

    יַעַןYA/anbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawמְבִיאָהme/vi/AbringsקָצֶףKA/tsefwrathכִּיkiforבְּאֵיןbe/ENwhere there is noתּוֹרָהto/RAlawאֵיןenthere is noפֶּשַׁע׃PE/shatransgression

    Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

16. 16

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeמֵאֱמוּנָהme/e/mu/NAit is from faithלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתִּהְיֶהtih/YEit may beלְפִי־חֶסֶדle/FI-CHE/sedaccording to graceבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURsoאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתִּכּוֹןtik/KONmay be establishedהַהַבְטָחָהha/hav/ta/CHAthe promiseלְכׇלle/KHOLto allהַזָּרַעhaz/ZA/rathe seedלֹאlonotלִבְנֵיliv/NEto the sons ofהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawלְבַדָּםle/vad/DAMaloneכִּי־גַםki-gambut alsoלִבְנֵיliv/NEto the sons ofאֱמוּנַתe/mu/NATthe faith ofאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוּאhuisאָבavthe fatherלְכֻלָּנוּ׃le/khul/LA/nuof all of us

    Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

17. 17

    כַּכָּתוּבkak/ka/TUVas it is writtenכִּיkithatאַב־הֲמוֹןav-ha/MONa father of a multitude ofגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsנְתַתִּיךָne/tat/TI/khaI have made youלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomהֶאֱמִיןhe/e/MINbelievedבּוֹboin himהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodהַמְחַיֶּהham/chay/YEwho gives life toאֶת־הַמֵּתִיםet-ham/me/TIMthe deadוְהַקּוֹרֵאve/hak/ko/REand who callsלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERthose things whichאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nuis notכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיֶשְׁנוֹ׃yesh/NOit exists

    (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

18. 18

    בְּאֶפֶסbe/E/feswithoutתִּקְוָהtik/VAhopeהֶאֱמִיןhe/e/MINhe believedבְּתִקְוָהbe/tik/VAin hopeלְמַעַןle/MA/ansoיִהְיֶהyih/YEhe would beלְאַבle/AVa father ofהֲמוֹןha/MONa multitude ofגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasנֶאֱמַרne/e/MARwas spokenכֹּהkosoיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beזַרְעֶךָ׃zar/E/khayour seed

    Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

19. 19

    וְלֹאve/LOand notרָפְתָהra/fe/TAgrew weakאֱמוּנָתוֹe/mu/na/TOhis faithלֹאlonotהִתְבּוֹנֵןhit/bo/NENhe consideredאֶל־בְּשָׂרוֹel-be/sa/ROhis fleshאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichכְּבָרke/VARalreadyמֵתmetdeadבִּהְיוֹתוֹbih/yo/TObeingכְּבֶן־מְאַתke/VEN-me/ATabout a hundredשָׁנָהsha/NAyears oldוְאֶל־רֶחֶםve/EL-RE/chemand the womb ofשָׂרָהSa/RASaraאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבָּלָה׃ba/LAwas worn out

    And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:

20. 20

    וְלֹא־חָלַקve/LO-CHA/lakand was not dividedלִבּוֹlib/BOhis heartבְּהַבְטָחַתbe/hav/ta/CHATat the promise ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodבְּחֶסְרוֹןbe/ches/RONthrough the lack ofאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithכִּיkibutאִם־הִתְחַזֵּקim-hit/chaz/ZEKrather grew strongבֶּאֱמוּנָתוֹbe/e/mu/na/TOin his faithוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand he gaveכָּבוֹדka/VODgloryלֵאלֹהִים׃le/lo/HIMto God

    He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

21. 21

    וְנַפְשׁוֹve/naf/SHOand his soulיֹדַעַתyo/DA/atknewמְאֹדme/ODwellכִּיkithatאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatהִבְטִיחַhiv/TI/achHe had promisedגַּם־יָכֹלgam-ya/KHOLHe was also ableלַעֲשׂוֹתוֹ׃la/a/so/TOto do it

    And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

22. 22

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeגַּם־נֶחְשְׁבָה־לּוֹgam-nech/she/VA-loalso it was counted to himלִצְדָקָה׃lits/da/KAfor righteousness

    And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

23. 23

    וְלֹא־לְמַעֲנוֹve/LO-le/ma/a/NOand not for his sakeלְבַדle/VADaloneנִכְתַּבnikh/TAVwas it writtenכִּיkithatנֶחְשְׁבָהnech/she/VAit was imputedלוֹ׃loto him

    Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

24. 24

    כִּיkibutאִם־גַּםim-gamrather alsoלְמַעֲנֵנוּle/ma/a/ne/NUfor our sakeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתֵּחָשֵׁבte/cha/SHEVit shall be imputedלָנוּLA/nuto usהַמַּאֲמִינִיםham/ma/a/mi/NIMwho believeבַּמֵּעִירbam/Me/IRin the One who raisedאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַet-Ye/SHU/aJesusאֲדֹנֵינוּa/do/NE/nuour Lordמִן־הַמֵּתִים׃min-ham/me/TIMfrom the dead

    But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

25. 25

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנִמְסַרnim/SARwas deliveredבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURforפְּשָׁעֵינוּpe/sha/E/nuour transgressionsוְנֵעוֹרve/ne/ORand was raisedבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURforצַדְּקֵנוּ׃tsad/de/ke/NUour justification

    Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
