1. 1

   לָכֵןthereforeאִם־יֵשׁif-there-isתּוֹכַחַתconsolationבַּמָּשִׁיחַin-the-Messiahאִם־תַּנְחוּמוֹתif-consolations-ofהָאַהֲבָהthe-loveאִם־חֶבְרַתif-fellowship-ofרוּחַthe-Spiritאִם־רַחֲמִיםif-mercyוְחֶמְלָה׃and-mercies

   If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2. 2

   הַשְׁלִימוּ־נָאfulfill-I-prayאֶת־שִׂמְחָתִיmy-joyבִּהְיוֹתwhile-wasלָכֶםto-youלֵבheartאֶחָדoneוְאַהֲבָהand-loveאַחַתoneוְנֶפֶשׁand-soulאַחַתoneוְרָצוֹןand-willאֶחָד׃one

   Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

   וְאַל־תַּעֲשׂוּand-do-not-you-doדָבָרanythingבְּדֶרֶךְafter-the-manner-ofמְרִיבָהa-contentionאוֹorכְּבוֹדthe-glory-ofשָׁוְאfalsehoodכִּיbecauseאִם־בְּשִׁפְלוּתif-in-the-depths-ofרוּחַthe-spirit-ofיַחְשֹׁבlet-esteemאִישׁa-manאֶת־רֵעֵהוּthe-otherגָּדוֹלgreatמִמֶּנּוּ׃from-him

   Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

   כׇּל־אֶחָדevery-oneאַל־יִדְאַגlook-notלַאֲשֶׁר־לוֹon-his-ownלְבַדּוֹaloneכִּיbecauseאִם־גַּםif-alsoלַאֲשֶׁרonלַחֲבֵרוֹ׃of-others

   Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

   כִּיbecauseיְהִיlet-this-beלְבַבְכֶםyour-heartsכִּלְבַבlike-the heart ofהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahיֵשׁוּעַ׃Jesus

   Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6. 6

   אֲשֶׁרwhichאַףyeaכִּי־הָיָהbeingבִּדְמוּתin-form-ofהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godלֹא־חָשַׁבthought-it-notלוֹhimלְשָׁלָלas-robberyהֱיוֹתוֹhis-beingשָׁוֶהequalלֵאלֹהִים׃God

   Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7. 7

   כִּיbecauseאִם־הִפְשִׁיטbut-strippedאֶת־עַצְמוֹhimselfוַיִּלְבַּשׁand-tookדְּמוּתlikeness-ofעֶבֶדthe-servant-ofוַיְהִיand-it-came-to-passדוֹמֶהmade-likeלִבְנֵיunto-the-children-ofאָדָםmanוַיִּמָּצֵאand-it was foundבִתְכוּנָתוֹin-fashionכְּבֶןas-a-son-ofאָדָם׃man

   But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8. 8

   וַיַּשְׁפֵּלand-humbledאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹhimselfוַיִּכָּנַעand-became-obedientעַד־מָוֶתuntil-deathעַד־מִיתַתuntil-a-death-ofהַצְּלִיבָה׃the-cross

   And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9. 9

   עַל־כֵּןthereforeהִגְבִּיהוֹhighly-exalted-himהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godמְאֹדexceedinglyוַיִּתֵּן־לוֹand-gave-himשֵׁםthe-name-ofנַעֲלֶהwhich-is-aboveעַל־כׇּל־שֵׁם׃upon-all-name-of

   Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10. 10

    אֲשֶׁרwhichבְּשֵׁםby-nameיֵשׁוּעַJesusתִּכְרַעshall-bowכׇּל־בֶּרֶךְall-kneeאֲשֶׁרwhichבַּשָּׁמַיִםin-heavenוּבָאָרֶץand-in-the-earthוּמִתַּחַתand-from-beneathלָאָרֶץ׃to-the-ground

    That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11. 11

    וְכׇל־לָשׁוֹןand-all-tongueתּוֹדֶהshall-confessכִּיbecauseאָדוֹןis-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahלִכְבוֹדfor-the-glory-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodהָאָב׃the-Father

    And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12. 12

    לָכֵןthereforeחֲבִיבַיmy-belovedכַּאֲשֶׁרasשְׁמַעְתֶּםyou-have-heardלִיto-meבְּכׇל־עֵתwith-all-timeכֵּןthusלֹאnotבִּהְיוֹתִיbeingאֶצְלְכֶםwith-youבִּלְבָדaloneאֶלָּא־עוֹדbut-nowיֹתֵרmuch-moreעַתָּהnowכְּשֶׁאֲנִיwhen-I-amרָחוֹקfarמִכֶּםfrom-youתִּיגְעוּwork-outלִתְשׁוּעַתthe-salvation-ofנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶםyour-soulsבְּיִרְאָהin-fearוּבִרְעָדָה׃and-in-trembling

    Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

13. 13

    כִּיbecauseהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godהוּאheהַפֹּעֵלthat-workethבָּכֶםin-youגַּם־לַחְפֹּץboth-to-willגַּם־לִפְעֹלand-to-doכְּפִיaccording-toרְצוֹנוֹ׃His-will

    For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

14. 14

    עֲשׂוּdoכׇּל־דָּבָרall-thingsבְּלֹאwithoutתְלֻנּוֹתmurmuringsוּבְלֹאand-withoutמְזִמּוֹת׃disputings

    Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

15. 15

    לְמַעַןin-order-thatתִּהְיוּyou-may-beנְקִיִּיםblamelessוּטְהוֹרִיםand-harmlessבְּנֵיthe-sons-ofאֱלֹהִיםGodאֵין־מוּםthere-is-no-imperfectionבָּםin-themבְּתוֹךְamongדּוֹרgenerationעִקֵּשׁperverseוּפְתַלְתֹּלand-crookedאֲשֶׁר־תָּאִירוּamong-whom-you-shineבֵינֵיהֶםamong-themכִּמְאוֹרֹתas-lightsבָּעוֹלָם׃of-the-world

    That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

16. 16

    מַחֲזִיקִיםholding-forthבִּדְבַרthe-word-ofהַחַיִּיםthe-lifeלִתְהִלָּהfor-rejoicingלִיto-meבְּיוֹםin-the-day-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹאnotלְחִנָּםin-vainרַצְתִּיI-have-runוְלֹאand-notלָרִיקto-emptinessיָגָעְתִּי׃I-labored

    Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

17. 17

    אֲבָלbutגַּםalsoכִּי־אֻסַּךְthat-I-am-poured-outעַל־זֶבַחupon-sacrificeאֱמוּנַתְכֶםyour-faithוַעֲבוֹדָתָהּand-service-of-itהִנְנִיbehold-Iשָׂמֵחַhappyוְשָׂשׂand-rejoiceעִם־כֻּלְּכֶם׃with-all-you

    Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.

18. 18

    וְכָכָהand-thusשִׂמְחוּrejoiceאַף־אַתֶּםyea-you-areוְשִׂישׂוּand-rejoiceעִמָּדִי׃with-me

    For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.

19. 19

    וְקִוֵּיתִיand-I-trustבְּיֵשׁוּעַin-Jesusאֲדֹנֵינוּour-Lordלִשְׁלֹחַto-sendאֲלֵיכֶםunto-youבִּמְהֵרָהsoonאֶת־טִימוֹתִיּוֹסTimothyלְמַעַןin-order-thatתָּנוּחַit-shall-restדַּעְתִּיmy-knowledgeבְּהִוָּדַעin-having-been-made-knownלִיto-meשְׁלוֹמְכֶם׃your-peace

    But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

20. 20

    כִּיbecauseזוּלָתוֹbesides-himאֵין־אִתִּיthere-is-no-with-meאִישׁa-manכִּלְבָבִיlike-the heart of-myאֲשֶׁרwhichבְּלֵבwith-heartשָׁלֵםsincerelyיִדְאַגwill-careלָכֶם׃to-you

    For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

21. 21

    כִּיbecauseכֻלָּםall-of-themאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־לָהֶםtheir-ownיִדְרשׁוּthey-seekוְלֹאand-notאֶת־אֲשֶׁרthat-whichלְיֵשׁוּעַto-Jesusהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃the-Messiah

    For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.

22. 22

    וְאוֹתוֹand-himיְדַעְתֶּםyou-knowכִּיbecauseבָחוּןprovedהוּאheאֲשֶׁרwhichכַּבֵּןas-the-a-sonהָעֹבֵדservethאֶת־אָבִיוhis-fatherכֵּןthusהָיָהwasאִתִּיwith-meבַּעֲבוֹדַתin-work-ofהַבְּשׂוֹרָה׃the-gospel

    But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

23. 23

    וְאֹתוֹand-himאֲקַוֶּהI-hopeלִשְׁלֹחַto-sendאֲלֵיכֶםunto-youמַהֵרquicklyכַּאֲשֶׁרso-soon-asאֶרְאֶהI-shall-seeמַה־יִּהְיֶהwhat-he-shall-beלִי׃to-me

    Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.

24. 24

    וּבָטַחְתִּיand-I-have-trustedבַאֲדֹנֵינוּin-our-Lordאֲשֶׁרwhichגַּם־אָנֹכִיalso-IאָבוֹאI-will-comeאֲלֵיכֶםunto-youבִּמְהֵרָה׃soon

    But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.

25. 25

    וְחָשַׁבְתִּיyet-I-supposedלְחוֹבָהnecessaryלִיto-meלִשְׁלֹחַto-sendאֲלֵיכֶםunto-youאֶת־אֶפַּפְרוֹדִיטוֹסEpaphroditusאָחִיmy-brotherוְעֹזְרִיand-help-myוַחֲבֵרִיand-fellowsoldierבַצָּבָאin-the-armyוְהוּאand-heשְׁלִיחֲכֶםyour-messengerוּמְשָׁרֲתִיand-my-officeבִּצְרָכָי׃to-my-wants

    Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.

26. 26

    מִפְּנֵיbecause-ofשֶׁהָיָהwho-wasנִכְסָףhe-longedלְכֻלְּכֶםafter-you-allוְנֶעְצָבand-was-full-of-heavinessמְאֹדexceedinglyעַל־אֲשֶׁרupon-whichשְׁמַעְתֶּםyou-have-heardכִּיbecauseחָלָה׃he-was-sick

    For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.

27. 27

    אׇמְנָםtrulyחָלֹהsick-indeedחָלָהhe-was-sickוְנָטָהand-was-nearלָמוּתto-perishאֲבָלbutהָאֱלֹהִיםthe-Godרִחַםhad-mercyעָלָיוupon-himוְלֹאand-notעָלָיוupon-himבִּלְבַדin-aloneכִּיbecauseגַּם־עָלַיalso-I-mustרִחַםhad-mercyשֶׁלּא־יָבוֹאthat-not-shall-comeעָלַיupon-meיָגוֹןsorrowעַל־יָגוֹן׃upon-sorrow

    For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

28. 28

    לָכֵןthereforeמִהַרְתִּיI-hastenedוּשְׁלַחְתִּיוand-I-sent-himאֲלֵיכֶםunto-youלְמַעַןin-order-thatתִּרְאֻהוּyou-may-see-himוְתָשׁוּבוּand-you-mayלִשְׂמוֹחַto-rejoiceוְגַם־יִמְעַטand-that-may-be-lessיְגוֹנִי׃my-sorrow

    I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.

29. 29

    עַל־כֵּןthereforeקַבְּלֻהוּreceive-himבַאֲדֹנֵינוּin-our-Lordבְּכׇל־שִׂמְחָהin-all-joyוְהוֹקִירוּand-hold-in-reputationאֲנָשִׁיםmenכָּמֹהוּ׃like-him

    Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:

30. 30

    כִּיbecauseבְעַדfor-the-sake-ofמַעֲשֵׂהwork-ofהַמָּשִׁיחַthe-Messiahהִגִּיעַhe-cameעַד־מָוֶתuntil-deathוַתֵּקַלand-lightly-esteemedנַפְשׁוֹhis-soulבְּעֵינָיוin-His-eyesלְמַעַןin-order-thatיְמַלֵּאto-supplyאֶת־אֲשֶׁרthat-whichחֲסַרְתֶּםyou-lackedבְּשָׁרֶתְכֶםin-your-serviceאוֹתִי׃me

    Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
