1. 1

   וַיֵּרֶדWhen he was come downמִן־הָהָרfrom the mountain,וַיֵּלֶךְfollowedאַחֲרָיוhim.הֲמוֹןmultitudesעַםof peopleרָב׃great

   When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

2. 2

   וְהִנֵּהAnd, behold,אִישׁa manמְצֹרָעa leperבָּאcame,וַיִּשְׁתַּחוּ־לוֹand worshiped him,וַיֹּאמַרsaying,אֲדֹנִיLord,אִם־תִּרְצֶהif you will,תּוּכַלyou canלְטַהֲרֵנִי׃make me clean.

   And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

   וַיִּשְׁלַחAnd put forthיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֶת־יָדוֹhis hand,וַיִּגַּע־בּוֹand touched him,וַיֹּאמֶרsaying,חָפֵץwillingאָנֹכִיam I;טְהָרbe you clean.וּבְרֶגַעAnd immediatelyנִרְפְּאָהwas cleansed.צָרַעְתּוֹ׃his leprosy

   And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

4. 4

   וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saithאֵלָיוunto himיֵשׁוּעַJesus,רְאֵהSeeאַל־תְּסַפֵּרyou tellלְאִישׁno man;וְלֵךְbut go your way,הֵרָאֵהshew thyselfאֶל־הַכֹּהֵןto the priest,וְהִקְרַבְתָּand offerאֶת־הַקָּרְבָּןthe giftאֲשֶׁרthatצִוָּהcommanded,מֹשֶׁהMosesלְעֵדוּתfor a testimonyלָהֶם׃unto them.

   And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

   וַיְהִיAndכְּבֹאוֹwhen Jesus was enteredאֶל־כְּפַר־נַחוּםinto Capernaum,וַיִּגַּשׁthere cameאֵלָיוunto himשַׂר־מֵאָהa centurionאֶחָדone,וַיִּתְחַנֶּן־לוֹbeseeching him,לֵאמֹר׃saying,

   And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

6. 6

   אֲדֹנִיLord,הִנֵּהbehold,נַעֲרִיmy servantנָפַלliethלְמִשְׁכָּבon his bedבְּבֵיתִיat homeוְהוּאand heנְכֵהsick ofאֵבָרִיםthe palsy,וּמְעֻנֶּהand tormentedעַד־מְאֹד׃grievously.

   And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

7. 7

   וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saithיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֵלָיוunto him,אָבֹאI will comeוּרְפָאתִיו׃and heal him.

   And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

8. 8

   וַיַּעַןansweredשַׂר־הַמֵּאָהThe centurionוַיֹּאמַרand said,אֲדֹנִיLord,נְקַלֹּתִיI am not worthyמֵאֲשֶׁרthatתָּבֹאyou should comeבְּצֵלunderקוֹרָתִיmy roof:רַקonly,דַבֶּר־נָאbut speakדָּבָרthe wordוְנִרְפָּאand shall be healed.נַעֲרִי׃my servant

   The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

9. 9

   כִּיForאָנֹכִיIאִישׁam a manאֲשֶׁרwho isתַּחַתunderמֶמְשָׁלָהauthority,וְגַם־יֵשׁhavingתַּחַתunderיָדִיme:אַנְשֵׁיmen ofצָבָאwar,וְאָמַרְתִּיand I sayלָזֶהto this man,לֵךְGo,וְהָלַךְand he goeth;וְלָזֶהand to another,בּוֹאCome,וּבָאand he cometh;וּלְעַבְדִּיand to my servant,עֲשֵׂה־זֹאתDo this,וְעָשָׂה׃and he doeth it.

   For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

10. 10

    וַיִּשְׁמַעWhen heard it,יֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיִּתְמַהּhe marvelled,וַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֶל־הַהֹלְכִיםto them that followedאַחֲרָיוhim,אָמֵןVerilyאֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIלָכֶםunto you,גַּם־בְּיִשְׂרָאֵלno, not in Israel.לֹא־מָצָאתִיI have not foundאֱמוּנָהfaith,רַבָּהso greatכָּזֹאת׃as this.

    When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

11. 11

    וַאֲנִיAnd Iאֹמֵרsayלָכֶםunto you,רַבִּיםThat manyיָבֹאוּshall comeמִמִּזְרָחfrom the eastוּמִמַּעֲרָבand west,וְיָסֵבּוּand shall sit downעִם־אַבְרָהָםwith Abraham,וְיִצְחָקand Isaac,וְיַעֲקֹבand Jacob,בְּמַלְכוּתin the kingdom ofהַשָׁמָיִם׃heaven.

    And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

12. 12

    אֲבָלButבְּנֵיthe children ofהַמַּלְכוּתthe kingdomהֵמָּהtheyיְגֹרֲשׂוּshall be cast outאֶל־הַחֹשֶׁךְinto darkness:הַחִיצוֹןouterשָׁםthereתִּהְיֶהshall beהַיְלָלָהweepingוַחֲרוֹקand gnashing ofהַשִׁנָּיִם׃teeth.

    But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

13. 13

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saidיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֶל־שַׂר־הַמֵּאָהunto the centurion,לֵךְGo your way;וְכֶאֱמוּנָתְךָand as you have believed,כֵּןsoיִהְיֶה־לָּךְbe it done unto you.וַיֵּרָפֵאAnd was healedנַעֲרוֹhis servantבַּשָּׁעָהin the hour.הַהִיא׃selfsame

    And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

14. 14

    וַיָּבֹאAnd when was comeיֵשׁוּעַJesusבֵּיתָהinto house,פֶטְרוֹסPeter'sוַיַּרְאhe sawאֶת־חֲמוֹתוֹhis wife's motherנֹפֶלֶתlaidלְמִשְׁכָּבon a bed,וְחוֹלַתand sick ofקַדָּחַת׃a fever.

    And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

15. 15

    וַיִּגַּעAnd he touchedבְּיָדָהּher hand,וַתִּרֶףand leftמִמֶּנָּהher:הַקַּדָּחַתthe feverוַתָּקׇםand she arose,וַתְּשָׁרֲתֵם׃and ministered unto them.

    And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

16. 16

    וַיְהִיWhenלְעֵתwas come,עֶרֶבthe evenוַיָּבִיאוּthey broughtאֵלָיוunto himרַבִּיםmanyאֲחוּזֵיthat were possessed withשֵׁדִיםdevils:וַיְגָרֶשׁand he cast outאֵת־הָרוּחוֹתthe spiritsבִּדְבַרwithפִּיוhis word,וַיְרַפֵּאand healedאֵת־כׇּל־הַחוֹלִים׃all that were sick:

    When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

17. 17

    לְמַלֹּאתThat it might be fulfilledאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhichדִּבֶּרwas spokenיְשַׁעְיָהוּby Esaiasהַנָּבִיאthe prophet,לֵאמֹרsaying,חֳלָיֵנוּour infirmities,הוּאHimselfנָשָׂאtookוּמַכְאֹבֵינוּand our sicknesses.סְבָלָם׃bare

    That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

18. 18

    וַיְהִיNowכִּרְאוֹתwhen sawיֵשׁוּעַJesusהֲמוֹןa multitudeעַםof peopleרַבgreatסְבִיבֹתָיוabout him,וַיְצַוhe gave commandmentלַעֲבֹרto departמִשָּׁםfrom thenceאֶל־עֵבֶרunto the other sideהַיָּם׃of the sea.

    Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

19. 19

    וַיִּגַּשׁAnd came,אֵלָיוto himאַחַדa certainהַסּוֹפְרִיםscribeוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלָיוunto him,רַבִּיMaster,אֵלְכָהI will followאַחֲרֶיךָyouאֶלuntoכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרwhithersoeverתֵּלֵךְ׃you go.

    And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saithאֵלָיוunto himיֵשׁוּעַJesus,לַשׂוּעָלִיםThe foxesיֵשׁ־חוֹרִיםhave holes,וּלְעוֹףand the birds ofהַשָּׁמַיִםthe airקִנִּיםhave nests;וּבֶן־הָאָדָםbut the Son of manאֵיןhath notלוֹfor himמָקוֹםwhereלְהַנִּיחַto layאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹ׃his head.

    And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

21. 21

    וְאִישׁAnd a manאַחֵרanotherמִן־הַתַּלְמִידִיםof his disciplesאָמַרsaidאֵלָיוunto him,אֲדֹנִיLord,הַנִּיחָה־לִּיsuffer meוְאֵלֵךְto goבָּרִאשׁוֹנָהfirstלִקְבֹּרand buryאֶת־אָבִי׃my father.

    And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרBut saidאֵלָיוunto him,יֵשׁוּעַJesusלֵךְFollowאַחֲרָיme;וְהַנַּחand letלַמֵּתִיםthe deadלִקְבֹּרburyאֶת־מֵתֵיהֶם׃their dead.

    But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

23. 23

    וַיֵּרֶדAnd when he was enteredאֶל־הׇאֳנִיָּהinto a ship,וַיֵּרְדוּwent downאִתּוֹwith him.תַּלְמִידָיו׃his disciples

    And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

24. 24

    וְהִנֵּהAnd, behold,סַעַרa tempestגָּדוֹלgreatהָיָהthere aroseבַיָּםin the sea,עַד־אֲשֶׁרinsomuch thatכִּסּוּwas coveredהַגַּלִּיםwith the waves:אֶת־הׇאֳנִיָּהthe shipוְהוּאbut heיָשֵׁן׃was asleep.

    And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

25. 25

    וַיִּגְּשׁוּAnd cameאֵלָיוto him,תַּלְמִידָיוhis disciplesוַיָּעִירוּand awokeאוֹתוֹhim,לֵאמֹרsaying,הוֹשִׁיעֵנוּsave us:אֲדֹנֵינוּLord,אָבָדְנוּ׃we perish.

    And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

26. 26

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saithאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,קְטַנֵּיO you of littleאֱמוּנָהfaith?מַהWhyחֲרֵדִיםfearfulאַתֶּםare you,וַיָּקׇםThen he arose,וַיִּגְעַרand rebukedבָּרוּחוֹתthe windsוּבַיָּםand the sea;וַתְּהִיand there wasדְּמָמָהa calm.רַבָּה׃great

    And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

27. 27

    וַיִּתְמְהוּBut marvelled,הָאֲנָשִׁיםthe menוַיֹּאמְרוּsaying,מִיWhat manner ofאֵפוֹאthenהוּאman isאֲשֶׁרthis, thatגַּם־הָרוּחוֹתeven the windsוְהַיָּםand the seaאֵלָיוhim!יִשְׁמָעוּן׃obey

    But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

28. 28

    וַיְהִיAndכְּבֹאוֹwhen he was comeאֶל־עֵבֶרto the other sideהַיָּםof the seaאֶל־אֶרֶץinto the country ofהַגִּרְגָּשִׁיִּםthe Gergesenes,וַיִּפְגְּשׁוּהוּthere met himשְׁנֵיtwoאֲנָשִׁיםmenאֲחוּזֵיpossessed withשֵׁדִיםdevils,יֹצְאִיםcoming outמִבָּתֵּיofהַקְּבָרוֹתthe tombs,וְהֵמָּהand they wereרַגְזָנִיםfierce,מְאֹדexceedingעַדso thatאֲשֶׁרthatלֹא־יָכֹלmight notאִישׁno manלַעֲבֹרpassבַּדֶּרֶךְby way.הַהוּא׃that

    And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

29. 29

    וְהִנֵּהAnd, behold,הֵםtheyצֹעֲקִיםcried out,לֵאמֹרsaying,מָהWhatלָּנוּhave we to doוָלָךְwith you,יֵשׁוּעַJesus,בֶּןyou Son ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGod?הֲבָאתָare you comeהֲלֹםhitherלְעַנּוֹתֵנוּto torment usבְּלֹאbeforeעֵת׃the time?

    And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

30. 30

    וְשָׁםAnd there wasעֵדֶרan herdחֲזִירִיםof swineרַבִּיםmanyרֹעִיםfeeding.הָרְחֵקa good way offמֵהֶם׃from them

    And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

31. 31

    וַיִּתְחַנֲנוּSo besoughtאֵלָיוhim,הַשֵּׁדִיםthe devilsלֵאמֹרsaying,אִםIfתְּגָרֲשֵׁנוּyou cast us out,תְּנָהsufferלָּנוּusלָבוֹאto go awayבְּעֵדֶרinto the herd ofהַחֲזִירִים׃swine.

    So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

32. 32

    וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,לֵכוּGo.וַיֵּצְאוּAnd when they were come out,וַיָּבֹאוּthey wentבְּעֵדֶרinto the herd ofהַחֲזִירִיםswine:וְהִנֵּהand, behold,הִשְׂתָּעֵרran violentlyכׇּל־עֵדֶרthe whole herd ofהַחֲזִירִיםswineמִן־הַמּוֹרָדdown a steep placeאֶל־הַיָּםinto the sea,וַיָּמוּתוּand perishedבַּמָּיִם׃in the waters.

    And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

33. 33

    וַיָּנוּסוּAnd fled,הָרֹעִיםthey that kept themוַיָּבֹאוּand went their waysהָעִירָהinto the city,וַיַּגִּידוּand toldאֶת־הַכֹּלevery thing,וְאֵתandאֲשֶׁרwhatנַעֲשָׂהwas befallenלַאֲחוּזֵיto the possessed ofהַשֵּׁדִים׃the devils.

    And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

34. 34

    וְהִנֵּהAnd, behold,כׇּל־הָעִירthe whole cityיָצְאָהcame outלִקְרַאתto meetיֵשׁוּעַJesus:וְכִרְאוֹתָםand when they sawאֹתוֹhim,וַיְבַקְשׁוּthey besoughtמִמֶּנּוּhimלַעֲבֹרthat he would departמִגְּבוּלָם׃out of their coasts.

    And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
