1. 1

   אַל־תִּשְׁפֹטוּJudge not,לְמַעַןto the endאֲשֶׁרthatלֹאnotתִּשָׁפֵטוּ׃you be judged.

   Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2. 2

   כִּיForבַמִּשְׁפָּטwith what judgmentאֲשֶׁרwhichאַתֶּםyouשֹׁפְטִיםjudge,תִּשָׁפֵטוּyou shall be judged:וּבַמִּדָּהand with what measureאֲשֶׁרwhichאַתֶּםyouמֹדֲדִיםmete,יִמַּדit shall be measuredלָכֶם׃to you again.

   For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3. 3

   וְלָמָּהAnd whyזֶּהthenתִרְאֶהbehold youאֶת־הַקֵּיסָםthe moteבְּעֵיןthat is in eye,אָחִיךָyour brother'sוְאֶל־הַקּוֹרָהbut the beamאֲשֶׁרthat isבְּעֵינְךָin your own eye?לֹאnotתַבִּיט׃considerest

   And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4. 4

   וְאֵיךְOr howתֹּאמַרwill you sayאֶל־אָחִיךָto your brother,הַנִּיחָהLetלִּיmeוְאָסִירpull outאֶת־הַקֵּיסָםthe moteמֵעֵינֶךָout of your eye;וְהִנֵּהand, behold,הַקּוֹרָהa beam isבְּעֵינֶךָ׃in your own eye?

   Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5. 5

   הֶחָנֵףYou hypocrite,הָסֵרcast outבָּרִאשׁוֹנָהfirstאֶת־הַקּוֹרָהthe beamמֵעֵינְךָout of your own eye;וְאַחֲרֵיandכֵןthenרָאֹהclearlyתִרְאֶהshall you seeלְהָסִירto cast outאֶת־הַקֵּיסָםthe moteמֵעֵיןout of eye.אָחִיךָ׃your brother's

   Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

6. 6

   אַל־תִּתְּנוּGive notאֶת־הַקֹּדֶשׁthat which is holyלַכְּלָבִיםunto the dogs,וְאַל־תַּשְׁלִיכוּneither cast youפְנִינֵיכֶםyour pearlsלִפְנֵיbeforeהַחֲזִירִיםswine,פֶּן־יִרְמְסוּםlest they trample themבְּרַגְלֵיהֶםunder their feet,וּפַנוּand turn againוְטָרְפוּand rendאֶתְכֶם׃you.

   Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

7. 7

   שַׁאֲלוּAsk,וְיִנָּתֵןand it shall be givenלָכֶםyou;דִּרְשׁוּseek,וְתִמְצָאוּand you shall find;דִּפְקוּknock,וְיִפָּתַחand it shall be openedלָכֶם׃unto you:

   Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8. 8

   כִּיForכׇּל־הַשֹׁאֵלevery one that askethיְקַבֵּלreceiveth;וְהַדֹּרֵשׁand he that seekethיִמְצָאfindeth;וְהַדֹּפֵקand he that knockethיִפָּתַחit shall be openedלוֹ׃unto him.

   For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9. 9

   הֲיֵשׁOr whatבָּכֶםof you,אִישׁman is thereאֲשֶׁרwhom ifיִשְׁאַלaskמִמֶּנּוּof himבְּנוֹhis sonלָחֶםbread,וְנָתַן־לוֹwill he give himאָבֶן׃a stone?

   Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10. 10

    וְכִיOr ifיִשְׁאַלhe askמִמֶּנּוּof himדָּגa fish,הֲיִתֶּן־לוֹwill he give himנָחָשׁ׃a serpent?

    Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

11. 11

    הֵןIfאַתֶּםyou then,הָרָעִיםbeing evil,יֹדְעִיםknow howלָתֵתto giveמַתָּנוֹתgiftsטֹבוֹתgoodלִבְנֵיכֶםunto your children,אַףhow much more shallכִּי־אֲבִיכֶםyour Fatherשֶׁבַּשָׁמַיִםwhich is in heavenיִתֵּןgiveאַךְ־טוֹבgood thingsלַשֹׁאֲלִיםto them that askמֵאִתּוֹ׃him?

    If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

12. 12

    לָכֵןThereforeכֹּלall thingsאֲשֶׁרwhatsoeverתִּרְצוּyou wouldשֶׁיַּעֲשׂוּthat should doלָכֶםto you,בְּנֵיthe sons ofהָאָדָםmenעֲשׂוּdo youלָהֶםto them:גַּם־אַתֶּםeven soכִּי־זֹאתfor this isהַתּוֹרָהthe lawוְהַנְּבִיאִים׃and the prophets.

    Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

13. 13

    בֹּאוּEnter you inבַּפֶּתַחat the gate:הַצָּרstraitכִּיforרָחָבwide isהַפֶּתַחthe gate,וּמְרֻוַּחַתand broad isדֶּרֶךְthe way,הָאֲבַדּוֹןthat leadeth to destruction,וְרַבִּיםand manyאֲשֶׁרthere be whichיָבֹאוּgo inבוֹ׃thereat:

    Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14. 14

    וְצַרBecause strait isהַפֶּתַחthe gate,וּמוּצָקand narrow isדֶּרֶךְthe way,הָחַיִּיםwhich leadeth unto life,וּמְעַטִּיםand fewהֵםthere beאֲשֶׁרthatיִמְצְאוּהָ׃find it.

    Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

15. 15

    הִשָּׁמְרוּBewareלָכֶםyourselvesמִנְּבִיאֵיof prophets,הַשָׁקֶרfalseהַבָּאִיםwhich comeאֲלֵיכֶםto youבִּלְבוּשׁin clothing,כְּבָשִׂיםsheep'sוּבְקִרְבָּםbut inwardlyזְאֵבִיםwolves.טֹרְפִיםraveningהֵמָּה׃they are

    Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16. 16

    הַכֵּרSurelyתַּכִּירוּyou shall knowאוֹתָםthemבְּפִרְיָםby their fruits.הֲיֵאָסְפוּDo men gatherעֲנָבִיםgrapesמִן־הַקֹּצִיםof thorns,אוֹorתְאֵנִיםfigsמִן־הַבַּרְקָנִים׃of thistles?

    Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17. 17

    כֵּןEven soכׇּל־עֵץevery treeטוֹבgoodעֹשֶׂהbringeth forthפְּרִיfruitטוֹבgood;וְהַנִּשְׁחָתbut a corrupt treeעֹשֶׂהbringeth forthפְּרִיfruitרָע׃evil.

    Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18. 18

    עֵץA treeטוֹבgoodלֹא־יוּכַלcannotעֲשׂוֹתbring forthפְּרִיfruitרָעevil,וְעֵץneither can a treeנִשְׁחָתcorruptלֹאnotיַעֲשֶׂהbring forthפְּרִיfruitטוֹב׃good.

    A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19. 19

    וְכׇל־עֵץEvery treeאֲשֶׁר־לֹאthat notיַעֲשֶׂהbringeth forthפְּרִיfruitטוֹבgoodיִכָּרֵתis hewn down,וְיֻשְׁלַךְand castבָּאֵשׁ׃into the fire.

    Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20. 20

    לָכֵןWhereforeבְּפִרְיָםby their fruitsתַּכִּירוּyou shall knowאוֹתָם׃them.

    Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21. 21

    לֹאNotכׇל־הָאֹמֵרevery one that saithלִיunto me,אֲדֹנִיLord,אֲדֹנִיLord,יָבוֹאshall enterבְּמַלְכוּתinto the kingdom ofהַשָׁמָיִםheaven;כִּיbutאִםratherהָעֹשֶׂהhe that doethרְצוֹןthe will ofאָבִיmy Fatherשֶׁבַּשָׁמָיִם׃which is in heaven.

    Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22. 22

    וְהָיָהAnd it shall beבַּיּוֹםinהַהוּאthat day,יֹאמְרוּwill sayרַבִּיםManyאֵלַיto meאֲדֹנִיLord,אֲדֹנִיLord,הֲלֹאhave we notבְשִׁמְךָin your nameנִבֵּאנוּprophesied?וּבְשִׁמְךָand in your nameגֵּרַשְׁנוּhave cast outשֵׁדִיםdevils?וּבְשִׁמְךָand in your nameעָשִׂינוּdoneנִפְלָאוֹתwonderful works?רַבּוֹת׃many

    Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23. 23

    אָזAnd thenאֶעֱנֶה־בָּםwill I profess unto them,לֵאמֹרsaying,מֵעוֹלָםFrom of oldלֹאnotיָדַעְתִּיI knewאֶתְכֶםyou:סוּרוּdepartמִמֶּנִּיfrom me,פֹּעֲלֵיyou that workאָוֶן׃iniquity.

    And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

24. 24

    לָכֵןThereforeכׇּל־הַשֹׁמֵעַwhosoever hearethאֶת־דְבָרַיmy sayingsאֵלֶּהthese,וְעָשָׂהand doethאֹתָםthem,אֲדַמֵּהוּI will liken himלְאִישׁunto a man,חָכָםwiseאֲשֶׁר־בָּנָהwhich builtאֶת־בֵּיתוֹhis houseעַל־הַצּוּר׃upon a rock:

    Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25. 25

    וַיֵּרֶדAnd descended,הַגֶּשֶׁםthe rainוַיִּשְׁטְפוּand came,הַנְּחָלִיםthe floodsוַיְנַשְׁבוּand blew,הָרוּחוֹתthe windsוַיִּגְּעוּand beat uponבַּבַּיִתhouse;הַהוּאthatוְלֹאand not:נָפָלit fellכִּיforיֻסַּדit was foundedעַל־הַצּוּר׃upon a rock.

    And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

26. 26

    וְכׇל־הַשֹׁמֵעַAnd every one that hearethאֶת־דְּבָרַיmy sayingsאֵלֶּהthese,וְלֹאand not,יַעֲשֶׂהdoethאֹתָםthemיִדְמֶהshall be likenedלְאִישׁunto a man,בַּעַרfoolishאֲשֶׁר־בָּנָהwhich builtאֶת־בֵּיתוֹhis houseעַל־הַחוֹל׃upon the sand:

    And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27. 27

    וַיֵּרֶדAnd descended,הַגֶּשֶׁםthe rainוַיִּשְׁטְפוּand came,הַנְּחָלִיםthe floodsוַיְנַשְׁבוּand blew,הָרוּחוֹתthe windsוַיִּפְגְּעוּand beat uponבַּבַּיתhouse;הַהוּאthatוַיִּפֹּלand it fell:וַתְּהִיand wasמַפַּלְתּוֹthe fall of it.גְדוֹלָה׃great

    And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

28. 28

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to pass,כְּכַלּוֹתwhen had endedיֵשׁוּעַJesusלְדַבֵּרto speakאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםthe sayings,הָאֵלֶּהtheseוַיִּשְׁתּוֹמֵםwere astonishedהֲמוֹןthe multitude ofהָעָםthe peopleעַל־תּוֹרָתוֹ׃at his doctrine:

    And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

29. 29

    כִּיForהָיָהheמְלַמֵּדtaughtאוֹתָםthemכְּאִישׁas oneשִׁלְטוֹןhaving authority,וְלֹאand notכַּסּוֹפְרִים׃as the scribes.

    For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
