   And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

   And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

   אַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areעֲנִיֵּיa/niy/YEthe poor ofהָרוּחַha/RU/achspiritכִּיkiforלָהֶםla/HEMtheirs isמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimheaven

   Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

   אַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areהָאֲבֵלִיםha/a/ve/LIMthose who mournכִּי־הֵםki-hemfor theyיְנֻחָמוּ׃ye/nu/cha/MUwill be comforted

   Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

   אַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areהָעֲנָוִיםha/a/na/VIMthe meekכִּי־הֵמָּהki-HEM/mafor theyיִירְשׁוּYI/re/shuwill inheritאָרֶץ׃A/retsthe earth

   Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

   אַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areהָרְעֵבִיםha/re/e/VIMthe hungryוְהַצְּמֵאִיםve/hats/tse/me/IMand the thirstyלַצְּדָקָהlats/tse/da/KAfor righteousnessכִּי־הֵםki-hemfor theyיִשְׂבָּעוּ׃yis/BA/uwill be satisfied

   Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

   אַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areהָרַחֲמָנִיםha/ra/cha/ma/NIMthe mercifulכִּי־הֵםki-hemfor theyיְרֻחָמוּ׃ye/ru/cha/MUwill be shown mercy

   Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

   אַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areבָּרֵיba/REthe pure ofלֵבָבle/VAVheartכִּי־הֵםki-hemfor theyיֶחֱזוּye/che/ZUwill seeאֶת־הָאֱלֹהִים׃et-ha/e/lo/HIMGod

   Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

   אַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areעֹשֵׂיo/SEthe makers ofשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceכִּיkiforבְנֵיve/NEthe sons ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REwill be calledלָהֶם׃la/HEMthey

   Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

    אַשְׁרֵיash/REblessed areהַנִּרְדָּפִיםhan/nir/da/FIMthe persecutedבִּגְלַלbig/LALbecause ofהַצְּדָקָהhats/tse/da/KArighteousnessכִּיkiforלָהֶםla/HEMtheirs isמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimheaven

    Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

    Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

    Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

    אַתֶּםat/TEMyou areמֶלַחME/lachthe salt ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthוְאִם־הַמֶּלַחve/IM-ham/ME/lachbut if the saltהָיָהha/YAhas becomeתָפֵלta/FELtastelessבַּמֶּהbam/MEwith whatיָמְלָחya/me/LACHwill it be saltedהֵןhenbeholdלֹא־יִצְלַחlo-yits/LACHit is not goodעוֹדodanymoreלַכֹּלlak/KOLfor anythingכִּיkibutאִם־לְהַשְׁלִיךְim-le/hash/LIKHto be thrownחוּצָהCHU/tsaoutוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand to beמִרְמָסmir/MAStrampledלִבְנֵיliv/NEby the sons ofאָדָם׃a/DAMmen

    Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

    אַתֶּםat/TEMyou areאוֹרorthe light ofהָעוֹלָםha/o/LAMthe worldעִירira cityיֹשֶׁבֶתyo/SHE/vetthat sitsעַל־הָהָרal-ha/HARon the mountainלֹאlonotתִסָּתֵר׃tis/sa/TERcan be hidden

    Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

    גַּםgamalsoאֵיןendo notמַדְלִיקִיםmad/li/KIMthey lightנֵרnera lampלָשׂוּםla/SUMto putאוֹתוֹo/TOitתַּחַתTA/chatunderהָאֵיפָהha/e/FAthe measureכִּיkibutאִם־עַל־הַמְּנוֹרָהim-al-ham/me/no/RAon the lampstandלְהָאִירle/ha/IRto give lightלְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרle/KHOL-a/SHERto all that areבַּבָּיִת׃bab/BA/yitin the house

    Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

    כֵּןkensoיָאֵרya/ERlet shineאוֹרְכֶםor/KHEMyour lightלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmenלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִרְאוּyir/Uthey may seeמַעֲשֵׂיכֶםma/a/se/KHEMyour worksהַטּוֹבִיםhat/to/VIMgoodוְשִׁבְּחוּve/shib/be/CHUand praiseאֶת־אֲבִיכֶםet-A/vi/KHEMyour Fatherשֶׁבַּשָּׁמָיִם׃sheb/bash/sha/MA/yimwho is in heaven

    Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

17. 17

    אַל־תְּדַמּוּal-te/dam/MUdo not imagineכִּיkithatבָאתִיVA/tiI have comeלְהָפֵרle/ha/FERto annulאֶת־הַתּוֹרָהet-hat/to/RAthe lawאוֹoorאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe words ofהַנְּבִיאִיםhan/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsלֹאlonotבָאתִיVA/tiI have comeלְהָפֵרle/ha/FERto annulכִּיkibutאִםimratherלְמַלֹּאת׃le/mal/LOTto fulfill

    Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18. 18

    כִּיkiforאָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youעַדaduntilכִּי־יַעַבְרוּki-ya/av/RUpass awayהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimheavenוְהָאָרֶץve/ha/A/retsand earthלֹאlonotתַּעֲבֹרta/a/VORwill passיוֹדyodyodאַחַתa/CHAToneאוֹ־קוֹץo-kotsor thornאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִן־הַתּוֹרָהmin-hat/to/RAfrom the lawעַדaduntilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיְקֻיַּםye/kuy/YAMis fulfilledהַכֹּל׃hak/KOLall

    For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיָפֵרya/FERannulsאַחַתa/CHAToneמִן־הַמִּצְוֹתmin-ham/mits/VOTof the commandmentsהַקְּטַנּוֹתhak/ke/tan/NOTleastהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוִילַמֵּדvi/lam/MEDand teachesאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe sons ofהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmenלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doכָּמוֹהוּka/mo/HUlikewiseקָטוֹןka/TONthe leastיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REwill be calledלוֹloheבְּמַלְכוּתbe/mal/KHUTin the kingdom ofהַשָּׁמָיִםhash/sha/MA/yimheavenוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERbut whoeverיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEdoesוִילַמֵּדvi/lam/MEDand teachesאוֹתָןo/TANthemלָזֶהla/ZEthis oneגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatיִקָּרֵאyik/ka/REwill be calledבְּמַלְכוּתbe/mal/KHUTin the kingdom ofהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimheaven

    Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20. 20

    כִּיkiforאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאִם־לֹאim-loif notתִהְיֶהtih/YEisצִדְקַתְכֶםtsid/kat/KHEMyour righteousnessמְרֻבָּהme/rub/BAgreaterמִצִּדְקַתmits/tsid/KATthan the righteousness ofהַסּוֹפְרִיםhas/sof/RIMthe scribesוְהַפְּרוּשִׁיםve/hap/Pe/ru/SHIMand the Phariseesלֹאlonotתָבֹאוּta/VO/uwill you enterבְּמַלְכוּתbe/mal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimheaven

    For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21. 21

    הֲלֹאha/LOhave notשְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou heardכִּיkithatנֶאֱמַרne/e/MARit was saidלָרִאשֹׁנִיםla/ri/sho/NIMto those of oldלֹאlonotתִרְצָחtir/TSACHyou shall murderוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoeverיִרְצַחyir/TSACHmurdersחַיָּבchay/YAVliableהוּאhuisלְבֵיתle/VETto the court ofדִּין׃dinjudgment

    Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22. 22

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERwhoeverיִקְצֹףyik/TSOFis angryעַל־אָחִיוal-a/CHIVwith his brotherחִנָּםchin/NAMwithout a causeחַיָּבchay/YAVliableהוּאhuisלְבֵיתle/VETto the court ofדִּיןdinjudgmentוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoeverיֹאמַרyo/MARsaysאֶל־אָחִיוel-a/CHIVto his brotherרֵקָאRe/KARacaחַיָּבchay/YAVliableהוּאhuisלְסַנְהֶדְרִיןle/San/hed/RINto the Sanhedrinוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERbut whoeverנָבָלna/VALfoolיִקְרָאyik/RAcallsלוֹloto himהוּאhuisמְחֻיַּבme/chuy/YAVliable toאֵשׁeshthe fire ofגֵּיהִנֹּם׃Ge/hin/NOMGehenna

    But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

23. 23

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאִם־תַּקְרִיבim-tak/RIVif you offerקָרְבָּנְךָkor/ba/ne/KHAyour offeringאֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַel-ham/miz/BE/achto the altarוְזָכַרְתָּve/za/khar/TAand you rememberכִּי־יֵשׁki-yeshthat there isלְאָחִיךָle/a/CHI/khato your brotherדְּבַרde/VARa matter ofרִיבrivdisputeעִמָּךְ׃im/MAKHwith you

    Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

24. 24

    הַנַּחhan/NACHleaveשָׁםshamthereאֶת־קָרְבָּנֶךָet-kar/ba/NE/khayour offeringלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַמִּזְבֵּחַham/miz/BE/achthe altarוְלֵךְve/LEKHand goוְהִתְרַצֵּהve/hit/rats/TSEand be reconciledרִאשׁוֹנָהri/sho/NAfirstעִם־אָחִיךָim-a/CHI/khawith your brotherוְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterכֵןkhenthatבּוֹאbocomeהַקְרֵבhak/REVofferאֶת־קָרְבָּנֶךָ׃et-kar/ba/NE/khayour offering

    Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25. 25

    מַהֵרma/HERquicklyהִתְרַצֵּהhit/rats/TSEmake peaceלְאִישׁle/ISHwith the man ofרִיבְךָri/ve/KHAyour disputeבְּעוֹדְךָbe/od/KHAwhile you areבַדֶּרֶךְvad/DE/rekhin the wayאִתּוֹit/TOwith himפֶּן־יַסְגִּירְךָpen-yas/gi/re/KHAlest deliver youאִישׁishthe man ofרִיבְךָri/ve/KHAyour disputeאֶל־הַשֹּׁפֵטel-hash/sho/FETto the judgeוְהַשֹּׁפֵטve/hash/sho/FETand the judgeיַסְגִּירְךָyas/gi/re/KHAdeliver youלַשׁוֹטֵרla/sho/TERto the officerוְהָשְׁלַכְתָּve/ha/she/LAKH/taand you be thrownאֶל־בֵּיתel-betinto the house ofהַכֶּלֶא׃hak/KE/leprison

    Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

26. 26

    אָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָךְlakhto youלֹאlonotתֵצֵאte/TSEyou shall come outמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereעַדaduntilאִם־שִׁלַּמְתָּim-shil/lam/TAyou have paidאֶת־הַפְּרוּטָהet-hap/pe/ru/TAthe small coinהָאַחֲרוֹנָה׃ha/a/cha/ro/NAlast

    Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

27. 27

    שְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou have heardכִּיkithatנֶאֱמַרne/e/MARit was saidלָרִאשֹׁנִיםla/ri/sho/NIMto those of oldלֹאlonotתִנְאָף׃tin/AFyou shall commit adultery

    Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28. 28

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכׇּל־הַמִּסְתַּכֵּלkol-ham/mis/tak/KELwhoever looksבְּאִשָּׁהbe/ish/SHAon a womanלַחְמֹדlach/MODto covetאוֹתָהּo/TAherכְּבָרke/VARalreadyנְאָפָהּne/a/FAhas committed adultery with herבְּלִבּוֹ׃be/lib/BOin his heart

    But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

29. 29

    וְאִםve/IMand ifתַּכְשִׁילְךָtakh/shi/le/KHAcauses you to stumbleעֵיןenthe eye ofיְמִינְךָye/mi/ne/KHAyour rightנַקֵּרnak/KERgougeאוֹתָהּo/TAitוְהַשְׁלֵךְve/hash/LEKHand throwמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAfrom youכִּיkiforטוֹבtovit is goodלְךָle/KHAfor youאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיֹאבַדyo/VADshould perishאֶחָדe/CHADoneמֵאֵבָרֶיךָme/e/va/re/KHAof your membersמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERthan thatיֻשְׁלַךְyush/LAKHbe castכׇּל־גּוּפְךָkol-guf/KHAyour whole bodyאֶל־גֵּיהִנֹּם׃el-Ge/hin/NOMinto Gehenna

    And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

    וְאִם־יָדְךָve/IM-ya/de/KHAand if your handהַיְמָנִיתhay/ma/NITrightתַּכְשִׁילְךָtakh/shi/le/KHAcauses you to stumbleקַצֵּץkats/TSETScut offאוֹתָהּo/TAitוְהַשְׁלֵךְve/hash/LEKHand throwמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAfrom youכִּיkiforטוֹבtovit is goodלְךָle/KHAfor youאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיֹאבַדyo/VADshould perishאֶחָדe/CHADoneמֵאֵבָרֶיךָme/e/va/re/KHAof your membersמֵאֲשֶׁרme/a/SHERthan thatיֻשְׁלַךְyush/LAKHbe castכׇּל־גּוּפְךָkol-guf/KHAyour whole bodyאֶל־גֵּיהִנֹּם׃el-Ge/hin/NOMinto Gehenna

    וְנֶאֱמַרve/ne/e/MARit has been saidאִישׁisha manכִּיkiwhoיְשַׁלַּחye/shal/LACHsends awayאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹet-ish/TOhis wifeוְנָתַןve/na/TANlet him giveלָהּlaherסֵפֶרSE/fera document ofכְּרִיתוּת׃ke/ri/TUTdivorce

    It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32. 32

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youהַמְשַׁלֵּחַham/shal/LE/achwhoever sends awayאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹet-ish/TOhis wifeבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARfor the cause ofזְנוּתze/NUTfornicationמְבִיאָהּme/vi/Abrings herלִידֵיli/DEintoנִאֻפִיםni/u/FIMadulteryוְהַלֹּקֵחַve/hal/lo/KE/achand whoever takesאֶת־הַגְּרוּשָׁהet-hag/ge/ru/SHAher that is divorcedלוֹlofor himselfלְאִשָּׁהle/ish/SHAas a wifeנֹאֵףno/EFcommits adulteryהוּא׃huhe

    But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

33. 33

    עוֹדodagainשְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou have heardכִּיkithatנֶאֱמַרne/e/MARit has been saidלָרִאשֹׁנִיםla/ri/sho/NIMby them of old timeלֹאlonotתִּשָּׁבַעtish/sha/VAyou shall swearלַשָּׁקֶרlash/SHA/kerfalselyוְשַׁלֵּםve/shal/LEMbut payלָאָדוֹןla/a/DONto the Lordשְׁבֻעוֹתֶיךָ׃she/vu/o/te/KHAyour oaths

    Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34. 34

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלֹאlonotתִּשָּׁבְעוּtish/sha/ve/Uswearכׇּל־שְׁבוּעָהkol-she/vu/Aany oathלֹאlonotבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimby heavenכִּי־כִסֵּאki-khis/SEfor the throne ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodהֵמָּה׃HEM/mathey are

    But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

35. 35

    וְלֹאve/LOnorבָאָרֶץva/A/retsby the earthכִּי־הֲדוֹםki-ha/DOMfor the footstool ofרַגְלָיוrag/LAYVHis feetהִיאhiit isוְלֹאve/LOnorבִירוּשָׁלַיִםVi/ru/sha/LA/yimby Jerusalemכִּי־הִיאki-hifor it isקִרְיַתkir/YATthe city ofמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe kingרָב׃ravgreat

    Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

    אַףafalsoבְּחַיֵּיbe/chay/YEby the life ofרֹאשְׁךָro/she/KHAyour headאַל־תִּשָּׁבֵעַal-tish/sha/VE/ado not swearכִּי־לֹאki-lofor notתוּכַלtu/KHALyou canלַהֲפֹךְla/ha/FOKHto turnשַׂעֲרָהsa/a/RAhairאַחַתa/CHAToneלִלְבָנָהlil/va/NAwhiteאוֹoorלִשְׁחֹרָה׃lish/cho/RAblack

    Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

    But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

38. 38

    שְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou have heardכִּיkithatנֶאֱמַרne/e/MARit has been saidעַיִןA/yinan eyeתַּחַתTA/chatforעַיִןA/yinan eyeשֵׁןshena toothתַּחַתTA/chatforשֵׁן׃shena tooth

    Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39. 39

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאַל־תִּתְקוֹמֲמוּal-tit/ko/ma/MUdo not rise upלָרָעla/RAevilוְהַמַּכֶּהve/ham/mak/KEbut whoever strikesאוֹתְךָot/KHAyouעַל־הַלְּחִיal-hal/le/CHIon the cheekהַיְמָנִיתhay/ma/NITrightהַטֵּה־לוֹhat/TE-loturn to himגַּםgamalsoאֶת־הָאַחֶרֶת׃et-ha/a/CHE/retthe other

    But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40. 40

    וַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoeverיַחְפֹּץyach/POTSdesiresלָבוֹאla/VOto goעִמְּךָim/me/KHAwith youבַּמִּשְׁפָּטbam/mish/PATto the lawוְלָקַחַתve/la/KA/chatand to takeאֶת־כֻּתָּנְתֶּךָet-kut/tan/TE/khayour tunicתֵּן־לוֹten-logive himגַּםgamalsoאֶת־מְעִילְךָ׃et-me/i/le/KHAyour cloak

    And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.

41. 41

    וְהָאֹנֵסve/ha/o/NESand whoever compelsאוֹתְךָot/KHAyouלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goעִמּוֹim/MOwith himדֶּרֶךְDE/rekha journey ofמִילmila mileלֵךְlekhgoאִתּוֹit/TOwith himשְׁנָיִם׃she/NA/yimtwo

    And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42. 42

    הַשֹּׁאֵלhash/sho/ELthe one who asksמֵאִתְּךָme/it/te/KHAfrom youתֵּן־לוֹten-logive himוְהַבָּאve/hab/BAand the one who comesלִלְוֹתlil/VOTborrowמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAof youאַל־תָּשֵׁבal-ta/SHEVdo not turn awayפָּנָיו׃pa/NAYVhis face

    Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

43. 43

    שְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou have heardכִּיkithatנֶאֱמַרne/e/MARit has been saidוְאָהַבְתָּve/a/hav/TAyou shall loveלְרֵעֲךָle/re/a/KHAyour neighborוְשָׂנֵאתָve/sa/NE/taand hateאֶת־אֹיְבֶךָ׃et-oy/VE/khayour enemy

    Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44. 44

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֶהֱבוּe/he/VUloveאֶת־אֹיְבֵיכֶםet-oy/ve/KHEMyour enemiesבָּרֲכוּba/ra/KHUblessאֶת־מְקַלְלֵיכֶםet-me/kal/le/KHEMthose who curse youהֵיטִיבוּhe/TI/vudo goodלְשֹׂנְאֵיכֶםle/son/e/KHEMto those who hate youוְהִתְפַּלֲלוּve/hit/pa/la/LUand prayבְּעַדbe/ADforמַכְאִיבֵיכֶםmakh/i/ve/KHEMthose who pain youוְרֹדְפֵיכֶם׃ve/rod/fe/KHEMand those who persecute you

    But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45. 45

    לְמַעַןle/MA/anthatתִּהְיוּtih/YUyou may beבָנִיםva/NIMsonsלַאֲבִיכֶםla/A/vi/KHEMof your Fatherשֶׁבַּשָּׁמָיִםsheb/bash/sha/MA/yimwho is in heavenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוּאhuHeמַזְרִיחַmaz/RI/achmakes riseשִׁמְשׁוֹshim/SHOHis sunלָרָעִיםla/ra/IMon the evilוְלַטּוֹבִיםve/lat/to/VIMand on the goodוּמַמְטִירu/mam/TIRand sends rainעַל־הַצַּדִּיקִיםal-hats/tsad/di/KIMon the justוְגַםve/GAMand alsoעַל־הָרְשָׁעִים׃al-ha/re/sha/IMon the wicked

    That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46. 46

    כִּיkiforאִם־תְּאֵהֲבוּim-te/e/ha/VUif you loveאֶת־אֹהֲבֵיכֶםet-o/ha/ve/KHEMthose who love youמַה־שְּׂכַרְכֶםma-se/khar/KHEMwhat is your rewardהֲלֹאha/LOdo notגַּם־הַמֹּכְסִיםgam-ham/mokh/SIMeven the tax collectorsיַעֲשׂוּ־זֹאת׃ya/a/SU-zotdo this

    For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47. 47

    וְאִם־תִּשְׁאֲלוּve/IM-tish/a/LUand if you askלִשְׁלוֹםlish/LOMafter the peace ofאֲחֵיכֶםa/che/KHEMyour brothersבִּלְבָדbil/VADonlyמַה־תַּעֲשׂוּma-ta/a/SUwhat do you doיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreמֵאֲחֵרִיםme/a/che/RIMthan othersהֲלֹאha/LOdo notגַם־הַמֹּכְסִיםgam-ham/mokh/SIMeven the tax collectorsיַעֲשׂוּ־זֹאת׃ya/a/SU-zotdo this

    And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48. 48

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהֱיוּhe/YUbeשְׁלֵמִיםshe/le/MIMperfectכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאֲבִיכֶםA/vi/KHEMyour Fatherשֶׁבַּשָּׁמַיִםsheb/bash/sha/MA/yimwho is in heavenשָׁלֵםsha/LEMperfectהוּא׃huis

    Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
