1. 1

   אָזazthenהוֹלִיךְho/LIKHledהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe Spiritאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַet-Ye/SHU/aJesusהַמִּדְבָּרָהham/mid/BA/rainto the wildernessלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיְנַסֵּהוּye/nas/se/HUmight tempt himהַשָּׂטָן׃Has/sa/TANSatan

   Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

2. 2

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterצוּמוֹtsu/MOhis fastingאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyיוֹםyomdaysוְאַרְבָּעִיםve/ar/ba/IMand fortyלָיְלָהLAY/lanightsוַיִּרְעָב׃vay/yir/AVhe was hungry

   And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

   וַיִּגַּשׁvay/yig/GASHand came nearאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהַמְנַסֶּהham/nas/SEthe tempterוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאִםimifבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִיםben-Ha/e/lo/HIMthe Son of Godאַתָּהat/TAyou areצַוֵּהtsav/VEcommandלָאֲבָנִיםla/a/va/NIMto the stonesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוְתִהְיֶינָהve/tih/YE/naand let them becomeלְלָחֶם׃le/LA/chembread

   And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהֵןhenbeholdכָּתוּבka/TUVit is writtenלֹאlonotעַל־הַלֶּחֶםal-hal/LE/chemby the breadלְבַדּוֹle/vad/DOaloneיִחְיֶהyich/YEshall liveהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmanכִּיkibutעַל־כׇּל־מוֹצָאal-kol-mo/TSAby everything that comes out ofפִי־יְהוָֹה׃fi-Adonaithe mouth of the LORD

   But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

   וַיִּקָּחֵהוּvay/yik/ka/CHE/huand took himהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanאֶל־עִירel-irto the city ofהַקֹּדֶשׁhak/KO/deshholinessוַיַּעֲמִידֵהוּvay/ya/a/mi/de/HUand stood himעַל־פִּנַּת־גַּגal-pin/NAT-gagon the corner of the roof ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofהַמִּקְדָּשׁ׃ham/mik/DASHthe sanctuary

   Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאִםimifבֶּן־הָאֱלֹהִיםben-Ha/e/lo/HIMthe Son of Godאַתָּהat/TAyou areנְפֹלne/FOLfallלְמָטָּהle/MAT/tadownכִּיkiforכָתוּבkha/TUVit is writtenכִּיkithatמַלְאָכָיוmal/a/KHAYVHis angelsיְצַוֶּה־לָּךְye/tsav/VE-lakhHe will command for youוְעַל־כַּפַּיִםve/AL-kap/PA/yimand on palmsיִשָּׂאוּנְךָyis/sa/UN/khathey will carry youפֶּן־תִּגֹּףpen-tig/GOFlest you strikeבָּאֶבֶןba/E/venagainst the stoneרַגְלֶךָ׃rag/LE/khayour foot

   And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוְעוֹדve/ODand againכָּתוּבka/TUVit is writtenלֹאlonotתְנַסֶּהte/nas/SEyou shall testאֵת־הָאָדוֹןet-ha/a/DONthe Lordאֱלֹהֶיךָ׃e/lo/HE/khayour God

   Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

8. 8

   וַיּוֹסֶףvay/YO/sefand againהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanוַיִּקָּחֵהוּvay/yik/ka/CHE/hutook himאֶל־הַרel-harinto a mountainגָּבֹהַּga/VO/ahhighמְאֹדme/ODveryוַיַּרְאֵהוּvay/yar/E/huand showed himאֶת־כׇּלet-kolallמַמְלְכוֹתmam/le/KHOTthe kingdoms ofתֵּבֵלte/VELthe worldוּכְבוֹדָן׃u/khe/vo/DANand their glory

   Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

9. 9

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himכׇּל־זֹאתkol-zotall thisלְךָle/KHAto youאֶתְּנֶנָּהet/te/NEN/naI will giveאִם־תִּקֹּדim-tik/KODif you will bowוְתִשְׁתַּחֲוֶהve/tish/ta/cha/VEand worshipלִי׃lime

   And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10. 10

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusסוּרsurdepartמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifrom meהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanכִּיkiforכָתוּבkha/TUVit is writtenלָאָדוֹןla/a/DONthe Lordאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godתִּשְׁתַּחֲוֶהtish/ta/cha/VEyou shall worshipוְאוֹתוֹve/o/TOand Himלְבַדּוֹle/vad/DOonlyתַּעֲבֹד׃ta/a/VODyou shall serve

    Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

    וַיִּרֶףvay/YI/refand let go ofמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuhimהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdנִגְּשׁוּnig/ge/SHUcame nearאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמַלְאָכִיםmal/a/KHIMangelsוַיְשָׁרֲתוּהוּ׃vay/sha/ra/tu/HUand served him

    Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

12. 12

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusכִּיkithatהוּשַׂםhu/SAMhad been putיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnבַּמִּשְׁמָרbam/mish/MARin custodyוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhhe wentאֶלeltoאֶרֶץE/retsthe land ofהַגָּלִיל׃Hag/ga/LILGalilee

    Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

13. 13

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand he went outמִנְּצֶרֶתMin/ne/TSE/retNazarethוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameוַיֵּשֵׁבvay/ye/SHEVand dweltבִּכְפַר־נַחוּםbikh/FAR-Na/CHUMin Capernaumאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isעַל־שְׂפַתal-se/FATon the shore ofהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaבִּגְבוּלbig/VULin the border ofזְבֻלוּןZe/vu/LUNZebulunוְנַפְתָּלִי׃ve/Naf/ta/LIand Naphtali

    And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

14. 14

    לְמַלֹּאתle/mal/LOTto fulfillהַנֶּאֱמָרhan/ne/e/MARwhat was spokenעַל־פִּיal-piby the mouth ofיְשַׁעְיָהוּYe/sha/YA/huEsaiasהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

15. 15

    אַרְצָהAR/tsaland ofזְבֻלוּןZe/vu/LUNZebulunוְאַרְצָהve/AR/tsaand land ofנַפְתָּלִיNaf/ta/LINaphtaliדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way ofהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaעֵבֶרE/verbeyondהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe JordanגְלִילGe/LILGalilee ofהַגּוֹיִם׃hag/Go/YIMthe Gentiles

    The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

16. 16

    הָעָםha/AMthe peopleהַיֹּשֵׁבhay/yo/SHEVwho satבַּחֹשֶׁךְba/CHO/shekhin darknessרָאָהra/Asawאוֹרorlightגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוְלַיֹּשְׁבִיםve/lay/yosh/VIMand to those who satבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the regionוּבְצַלְמָוֶתu/ve/tsal/MA/vetand the shadow of deathאוֹרorlightזָרַח׃za/RACHhas sprung up

    The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

17. 17

    מִן־הָעֵתmin-ha/ETfrom the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusלִקְרֹאlik/ROto proclaimוְלֵאמֹרve/le/MORand to sayשׁוּבוּSHU/vurepentכִּיkiforמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimheavenקׇרְבָהkor/VAhas drawn nearלָבוֹא׃la/VOto come

    From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

18. 18

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּהִתְהַלְּכוֹbe/hit/hal/le/KHOas he walkedעַל־יַדal-yadbyיָם־הַגָּלִילyam-Hag/ga/LILthe sea of Galileeוַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoאַחִיםa/CHIMbrothersשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimonהַנִּקְרָאhan/nik/RAcalledפֶטְרוֹסFet/ROSPeterוְאַנְדְּרַיve/An/de/RAYand Andrewאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherמַשְׁלִיכִיםmash/li/KHIMcastingמְצוֹדָהme/tso/DAa netבַּיָּםbay/YAMinto the seaכִּיkiforדַיָּגִיםday/ya/GIMfishermenהֵם׃hemthey were

    And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

19. 19

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themלְכוּle/KHUgoאַחֲרָיa/cha/RAYafter meוַאֲשִׂימְכֶםva/a/si/me/KHEMand I will make youלְדַיְּגֵיle/day/ye/GEfishers ofאֲנָשִׁים׃a/na/SHIMmen

    And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

20. 20

    וַיַּעַזְבוּvay/ya/az/VUand they leftמְהֵרָהme/he/RAquicklyאֵת־הַמִּכְמֹרוֹתet-ham/mikh/mo/ROTtheir netsוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentאַחֲרָיו׃a/cha/RAYVafter him

    And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

21. 21

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּעָבְרוֹke/a/ve/ROas he passedמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereוַיַּרְאvay/YARhe sawשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoאַחִיםa/CHIMbrothersאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMotherאֶת־יַעֲקֹבet-Ya/a/KOVJamesבֶּן־זַבְדַּיben-Zav/DAYthe son of Zebedeeוְאֶת־יוֹחָנָןve/ET-yo/cha/NANand Johnאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherבׇּאֳנִיָּהbo/o/niy/YAin the boatעִם־זַבְדַּיim-Zav/DAYwith Zebedeeאֲבִיהֶםa/vi/HEMtheir fatherוְהֵמָּהve/HEM/maand they wereמְתַקְּנִיםme/tak/ke/NIMmendingאֶת־מִכְמְרוֹתָםet-mikh/me/ro/TAMtheir netsוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he calledאֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMto them

    And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

22. 22

    וַיַּעַזְבוּvay/ya/az/VUand they leftמְהֵרָהme/he/RAquicklyאֶת־הׇאֳנִיָּהet-ho/o/niy/YAthe boatוְאֶת־אֲבִיהֶםve/ET-a/vi/HEMand their fatherוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentאַחֲרָיו׃a/cha/RAYVafter him

    And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

23. 23

    וַיָּסׇבvay/YA/sovand went aroundיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusבְּכׇל־הַגָּלִילbe/KHOL-hag/ga/LILin all Galileeוַיְלַמֵּדvay/lam/MEDand taughtבְּבָתֵּיbe/vat/TEin the houses ofכְנִסְתָּםkhe/nis/TAMtheir assemblyוַיְבַשֵּׂרvay/vas/SERand proclaimedבְּשׂוֹרַתbe/so/RATthe gospel ofהַמַּלְכוּתham/mal/KHUTthe kingdomוַיְרַפֵּאvay/rap/PEand healedכׇּל־מַחֲלָהkol-ma/cha/LAevery sicknessוְכׇל־מַדְוֶהve/KHOL-mad/VEand every diseaseבָּעָם׃ba/AMamong the people

    And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

24. 24

    וְשִׁמְעוֹve/shim/Oand his fameיָצָאya/TSAwentבְּכׇל־אֶרֶץbe/KHOL-E/retsin all the land ofסוּרְיָאSur/YASyriaוַיָּבִיאוּvay/ya/VI/uand they broughtאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֵת־כׇּל־הַחוֹלִיםet-kol-ha/cho/LIMall the sickהַמְעֻנִּיםham/un/NIMafflictedבְּכׇל־חֳלָיִםbe/KHOL-cho/LA/yimwith all diseasesוּמַכְאוֹבִיםu/makh/o/VIMand tormentsוַאֲחוּזֵיva/a/chu/ZEand those seized byשֵׁדִיםshe/DIMdemonsוּמֻכֵּיu/muk/KEand those struck byיָרֵחַya/RE/achthe moonוּנְכֵיu/ne/KHEand those crippled inאֵבָרִיםe/va/RIMlimbsוַיִּרְפָּאֵם׃vay/yir/pa/EMand he healed them

    And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

25. 25

    וַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himהֲמֹנִיםha/mo/NIMcrowdsהֲמֹנִיםha/mo/NIMcrowdsמִן־הַגָּלִילmin-Hag/ga/LILfrom Galileeוּמִן־עֶשֶׂרu/MIN-E/serand from the tenהֶעָרִיםhe/a/RIMcitiesוּמִירוּשָׁלַיִםu/Mi/ru/sha/LA/yimand from JerusalemוִיהוּדָהVi/hu/DAand from Judaeaוּמֵעֵבֶרu/me/E/verand from beyondלַיַּרְדֵּן׃lay/Yar/DENthe Jordan

    And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judæa, and from beyond Jordan.
