1. 1

   וְאַחֲרֵיAnd afterמוֹצָאֵיthe going out ofהַשַּׁבָּתthe sabbath,כְּשֶׁהֵאִירas it began to dawnלְאֶחָדtoward the first dayבַּשַּׁבָּתof the week,בָּאָהcameמִרְיָםMaryהַמַּגְדָּלִיתMagdaleneוּמִרְיָםand Maryהָאַחֶרֶתthe other,לִרְאוֹתto seeאֶת־הַקָּבֶר׃the sepulchre.

   In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

2. 2

   וְהִנֵּהAnd, behold,רָעָשׁan earthquakeגָּדוֹלgreatהָיָהthere was;כִּי־מַלְאַךְfor the angel ofיְהוָֹהthe Lordיָרַדdescendedמִן־הַשָּׁמַיִםfrom heaven,וַיִּגַּשׁand cameוַיָּגֶלand rolled backאֶת־הָאֶבֶןthe stoneמִן־הַפֶּתַחfrom the door,וַיֵּשֶׁבand satעָלֶיהָ׃upon it.

   And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

   וּמַרְאֵהוּHis countenanceכְּמַרְאֵהwas likeהַבָּרָקlightning,וּלְבוּשׁוֹand his raimentלָבָןwhiteכַּשָׁלֶג׃as snow:

   His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

4. 4

   וַיִּבָּהֲלוּAnd did shake,הַשֹׁמְרִיםthe keepersמִפַּחְדּוֹfor fear of himוַיִּהְיוּand becameכַּמֵּתִים׃as dead men.

   And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

5. 5

   וַיַּעַןAnd answeredהַמַּלְאָךְthe angelוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֶל־הַנָּשִׁיםunto the women,אַתֵּןyou:אַל־תִּירֶאןָFear notהֵןforיָדַעְתִּיI knowכִּיthatאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַJesus,הַנִּצְלָבwhich was crucified.אַתֵּןyouמְבַקְשׁוֹת׃seek

   And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

   הוּאHeאֵינֶנּוּis notפֹהhere:כִּי־קָםfor he is risen,כַּאֲשֶׁרasאָמָרhe said.בֹּאנָהCome,וּרְאֶינָהseeאֶת־הַמָּקוֹםthe placeאֲשֶׁרwhereשָׁכַב־שָׁםlay.הָאָדוֹן׃the Lord

   He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

7. 7

   לֵכְנָהAnd goמַהֵרquickly,וְהִגַּדְתֶּןand tellלְתַלְמִידָיוhis disciplesכִּיthatקָםhe is risenמִן־הַמֵּתִיםfrom the dead;וְהִנֵּהand, behold,הוּאheהוֹלֵךְgoethלִפְנֵיכֶםbefore youהַגָּלִילָהinto Galilee;וְשָׁםthereתִּרְאֻהוּshall you see him:הִנֵּהlo,אָמַרְתִּיI have toldלָכֶן׃you.

   And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

   וַתְּמַהֵרְנָהAnd they hastedוַתֵּצֶאנָהand went outמִן־הַקֶּבֶרfrom the sepulchreבְּיִרְאָהwith fearוּבְשִׂמְחָהand joy;גְדוֹלָהgreatוַתָּרֹצְנָהand did runלְסַפֵּרto bring word.אֶל־תַּלְמִידָיו׃his disciples

   And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

9. 9

   הֵנָּהAnd as theyהֹלְכוֹתwentלְסַפֵּרto tellאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוhis disciples,וְהִנֵּהbehold,יֵשׁוּעַJesusנִקְרֶהmetאֲלֵיהֶןthem,וַיֹּאמֶרsaying,שָׁלוֹםAll hail,לָכֶןunto you.וַתִּגַּשְׁנָהAnd they cameוַתֹּאחַזְנָהand held himבְרַגְלָיוby the feet,וַתִּשְׁתַּחֲוֶיןָand worshipedלוֹ׃him.

   And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

10. 10

    וַיֹּאמֶרThen saidאֲלֵיהֶןunto them,יֵשׁוּעַJesusאַל־תִּירֶאןָBe not afraid:לֵכְנָהgoוְהַגֵּדְנָהtellלְאַחַיmy brethrenוְיֵלְכוּthat they goהַגָּלִילָהinto Galilee,וְשָׁםand thereיִרְאוּנִי׃shall they see me.

    Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

11. 11

    וַיְהִיNow whenבְלֶכְתָּןthey were going,וְהִנֵּהbehold,אֲנָשִׁיםsomeמִן־הַמִּשְׁמָרof the watchבָּאוּcameהָעִירָהinto the city,וַיַּגִּידוּand shewedלְרָאשֵׁיunto the chiefהַכֹּהֲנִיםpriestsאֵת־כׇּל־הַנַּעֲשָׂה׃all the things that were done.

    Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.

12. 12

    וַיִּקָּהֲלוּAnd when they were assembledעִם־הַזְּקֵנִיםwith the elders,וַיִּתְיָעָצוּand had taken counsel,וַיִּתְּנוּ־כֶסֶףthey gave moneyלָרֹבlargeאֶל־אַנְשֵׁיunto the menהַצָּבָאof war,לֵאמֹר׃Saying,

    And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,

13. 13

    אִמְרוּ־נָאSay you,כִּי־בָאוּcameתַלְמִידָיוHis disciplesלָיְלָהby night,וַיִּגְנְבוּand stoleאוֹתוֹhim awayוַאֲנַחְנוּwhile weיְשֵׁנִים׃slept.

    Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.

14. 14

    וְאִם־יִשָׁמַעAnd if comeהַדָּבָרthisבֵּיתto ears,הַהֶגְמוֹןthe governor'sאֲנַחְנוּweנְפַיְסֵהוּwill persuade him,וְאַתֶּםand youאַל־תִּירָאוּ׃shall not fear.

    And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.

15. 15

    וַיִּקְחוּSo they tookאֶת־הַכֶּסֶףthe money,וַיַּעֲשׂוּand didכַּאֲשֶׁרasשָׂמוּwas putבְּפִיהֶםin their mouth:וַתֵּצֵאand is commonly reportedהַשְׁמוּעָהsayingהַזֹּאתthisבֵּיןamongהַיְּהוּדִיםthe Jewsעַדuntilהַיּוֹםday.הַזֶּה׃this

    So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

16. 16

    וְעַשְׁתֵּי־עָשָׂרThen the elevenהַתַּלְמִידִיםdisciplesהָלְכוּwent awayהַגָּלִילָהinto Galilee,אֶל־הָהָרinto a mountainאֲשֶׁרwhereאָמַרhad appointedלָהֶםthem.יֵשׁוּעַ׃Jesus

    Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

17. 17

    וַיִּרְאוּAnd when they sawאֹתוֹhim,וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ־לוֹthey worshiped him:וְיֵשׁbut someמֵהֶםof themאֲשֶׁרwhoחָלַקdoubtedלִבָּם׃in their heart.

    And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

18. 18

    וַיִּגַּשׁAnd cameיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיְדַבֵּרand spakeאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,לֵאמֹרsaying,נִתַּן־לִיis given unto meכׇּל־שָׁלְטָןAll powerבַּשָּׁמַיִםin heavenוּבָאָרֶץ׃and in earth.

    And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19. 19

    וְאַתֶּםAnd you,לְכוּgo therefore,אֶל־כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםunto all nations,וַעֲשׂוּand makeתַלְמִידִיםdisciples,וּטְבַלְתֶּםbaptizingאֹתָםthemלְשֵׁם־הָאָבin the name of the Father,וְהַבֵּןand of the Son,וְרוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃and of the Holy Ghost:

    Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20. 20

    וְלִמַּדְתֶּםTeachingאֹתָםthemלִשְׁמֹרto observeאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall things whatsoeverצִוִּיתִיI have commandedאֶתְכֶםyou:וְהִנֵּהand, lo,אָנֹכִיI amאִתְּכֶםwith youכׇּל־הַיָּמִיםalway,עַד־קֵץeven unto the end ofהָעוֹלָםthe world.אָמֵן׃Amen.

    Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
