   And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,

   דּוֹמָהdo/MAis likeמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimheavenלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhto a kingאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהa/SHER-a/SAwho madeחֲתֻנָּהcha/tun/NAa weddingלִבְנוֹ׃liv/NOfor his son

   The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

   וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he sentאֶת־עֲבָדָיוet-a/va/DAYVhis servantsלִקְרֹאlik/ROto callהַקְּרוּאִיםhak/ke/ru/IMthe invitedאֶל־הַחֲתֻנָּהel-ha/cha/tun/NAto the weddingוְלֹאve/LOand notאָבוּa/VUthey were willingלָבוֹא׃la/VOto come

   And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

   Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

   But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:

   וְהַנִּשְׁאָרִיםve/han/nish/a/RIMand the restתָּפְשׂוּTAF/suseizedאֶת־עֲבָדָיוet-a/va/DAYVhis servantsוַיִּתְעַלְּלוּvay/yit/al/le/LUand abusedבָםvamthemוַיַּהַרְגוּם׃vay/ya/har/GUMand killed them

   And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.

   וַיִּקְצֹףvay/yik/TSOFand was angryהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he sentצִבְאוֹתָיוtsiv/o/TAYVhis armiesוַיְאַבֵּדvay/ab/BEDand destroyedאֶת־הַמְרַצְּחִיםet-ham/rats/tse/CHIMthe murderersהָהֵםha/HEMthoseוְאֶת־עִירָםve/ET-i/RAMand their cityשָׂרַףsa/RAFhe burnedבָּאֵשׁ׃ba/ESHwith fire

   But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

   אָזazthenאָמַרa/MARhe saidאֶל־עֲבָדָיוel-a/va/DAYVto his servantsהֵןhenbeholdהַחֲתֻנָּהha/cha/tun/NAthe weddingמוּכָנָהmu/kha/NAis readyוְהַקְּרוּאִיםve/hak/ke/ru/IMbut the invitedלֹאlonotהָיוּha/YUwereרְאוּיִםre/u/YIMworthyלָהּ׃lafor it

   Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeלְכוּ־נָאle/KHU-nago nowלְרָאשֵׁיle/ra/SHEto the heads ofהַדְּרָכִיםhad/de/ra/KHIMthe roadsוְכׇל־אִישׁve/KHOL-ishand every manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתִּמְצְאוּtim/tse/Uyou findקִרְאוּkir/Uinviteאֶל־הַחֲתֻנָּה׃el-ha/cha/tun/NAto the wedding

   Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

    וַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand went outהָעֲבָדִיםha/a/va/DIMthe servantsהָהֵםha/HEMthoseאֶל־הַדְּרָכִיםel-had/de/ra/KHIMto the roadsוַיַּאַסְפוּvay/ya/as/FUand gatheredאֶת־כֹּלet-kolallאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatמָצְאוּma/tse/Uthey foundגַּם־רָעִיםgam-ra/IMboth evilגַּם־טוֹבִיםgam-to/VIMand goodוַיִּמָּלֵאvay/yim/ma/LEand was filledבֵית־הַחֲתֻנָּהvet-ha/cha/tun/NAthe wedding houseמְסֻבִּים׃me/sub/BIMwith those reclining

    So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּבוֹאke/VOwhen cameהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeאֶת־הַמְסֻבִּיםet-ham/sub/BIMthose recliningוַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawבָּהֶםba/HEMthereאִישׁisha manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nuwas notלָבוּשׁla/VUSHclothed inבִּגְדֵיbig/DEthe garments ofחֲתֻנָּה׃cha/tun/NAa wedding

    And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himרֵעִיre/Imy friendאֵיךְekhhowבָּאתָBA/tadid you comeהֵנָּהHEN/nahereוְאֵיןve/ENand there is notעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaon youבִּגְדֵיbig/DEthe garments ofחֲתֻנָּהcha/tun/NAa weddingוַיֵּאָלַם׃vay/ye/a/LAMand he was mute

    And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלַמְשָׁרֲתִיםlam/sha/ra/TIMto the attendantsאִסְרוּis/RUbindיָדָיוya/DAYVhis handsוְרַגְלָיוve/rag/LAYVand his feetוּנְשָׂאתֶםu/ne/sa/TEMand lift himוְהִשְׁלַכְתֶּםve/hish/lakh/TEMand throwאוֹתוֹo/TOhimאֶל־הַחֹשֶׁךְel-ha/CHO/shekhinto the darknessהַחִיצוֹןha/chi/TSONouterשָׁםshamthereתִּהְיֶהtih/YEwill beהַיְלָלָהhay/la/LAthe wailingוַחֲרֹקva/cha/ROKand the gnashing ofהַשִּׁנָּיִם׃hash/shin/NA/yimthe teeth

    Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

    כִּיkiforרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyהֵםhemareהַקְּרוּאִיםhak/ke/ru/IMthe calledוּמְעַטִּיםu/me/at/TIMand fewהַנִּבְחָרִים׃han/niv/cha/RIMthe chosen

    For many are called, but few are chosen.

15. 15

    וַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentהַפְּרוּשִׁיםhap/Pe/ru/SHIMthe Phariseesוַיִּתְיָעֲצוּvay/yit/ya/a/TSUand took counselאֵיךְekhhowיַכְשִׁילֻהוּyakh/shi/lu/HUthey might trip himבִּדְבַרbid/VARin the word ofפִּיו׃pivhis mouth

    Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.

16. 16

    וַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUand they sentאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֶת־תַּלְמִידֵיהֶםet-tal/mi/de/HEMtheir disciplesוְעִמָּהֶםve/im/ma/HEMand with themאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingרַבִּיrab/BIrabbiיָדַעְנוּya/DA/nuwe knowכִּי־אִישׁki-ishthat a man ofאֱמֶתe/METtruthאַתָּהat/TAyou areוְאֶת־דֶּרֶךְve/ET-DE/rekhand the way ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodתּוֹרֶהto/REyou teachבֶאֱמֶתve/e/METin truthוְלֹאve/LOand notתָגוּרta/GURyou fearמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbeforeאִישׁishany manכִּיkiforאֵינְךָe/ne/KHAyou do notמַכִּירmak/KIRregardפְּנֵיpe/NEthe face ofאָדָם׃a/DAMman

    And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהַגִּידָה־נָּאhag/GI/da-natell nowלָנוּLA/nuusמַה־דַּעְתֶּךָma-da/te/KHAwhat is your opinionהֲמֻתָּרha/mut/TARis it lawfulלָתֵת־מַסla/TET-masto give taxלְקֵיסַרle/Ke/SARto Caesarאִם־לֹא׃im-loor not

    Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Cæsar, or not?

18. 18

    וְיֵשׁוּעַve/Ye/SHU/abut Jesusיָדַעya/DAknewאֶת־רָעָתָםet-ra/a/TAMtheir evilוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהַחֲנֵפִיםha/cha/ne/FIMhypocritesמַה־תְּנַסּוּנִי׃ma-te/nas/su/NIwhy do you test me

    But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?

19. 19

    הַרְאוּנִיhar/u/NIshow meאֶת־מַטְבֵּעַet-mat/BE/athe coin ofהַמַּסham/MASthe taxוַיָּבִיאוּvay/ya/VI/uand they broughtלוֹloto himדִּינָר׃di/NARa denarius

    Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהַצּוּרָהhats/tsu/RAthe imageהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוְהַמִּכְתָּבve/ham/mikh/TAVand the inscriptionאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat areעָלָיוa/LAYVon itשֶׁל־מִיshel-miwhoseהֵם׃hemare they

    And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?

21. 21

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himשֶׁל־קֵיסַרShel-ke/SARCaesar'sוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeתְּנוּte/NUgiveלְקֵיסַרle/Ke/SARto Caesarאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhat isלְקֵיסַרLe/ke/SARCaesar'sוְלֵאלֹהִיםve/le/lo/HIMand to Godאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhat isלֵאלֹהִים׃le/lo/HIMGod's

    They say unto him, Cæsar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which are Cæsar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand they heardוַיִּתְמָהוּvay/yit/MA/huand they marveledוַיַּנִּיחֻהוּvay/yan/ni/CHU/huand left himוַיֵּלֵכוּ׃vay/ye/LE/khuand went

    When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

    בַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatנִגְּשׁוּnig/ge/SHUcame nearאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himצַדּוּקִיםTsad/du/KIMSadduceesוְהֵםve/HEMand they areהָאֹמְרִיםha/om/RIMthose who sayאֵיןenthere is notתְּחִיַּתte/chiy/YATa resurrection ofהַמֵּתִיםham/me/TIMthe deadוַיִּשְׁאֲלוּvay/yish/a/LUand they askedאֹתוֹo/TOhimלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

    רַבִּיrab/BIrabbiהֵןhenbeholdמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאָמַרa/MARsaidאִישׁisha manכִּי־יָמוּתki-ya/MUTif diesוּבָנִיםu/va/NIMand sonsאֵין־לוֹen-lohe has notוְיִבֵּםve/yib/BEMand shall act as husband's brother toאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹet-ish/TOhis wifeוְהֵקִיםve/he/KIMand raise upזֶרַעZE/raseedלְאָחִיו׃le/a/CHIVto his brother

    Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

    וְאִתָּנוּve/it/TA/nuand with usהָיוּha/YUthere wereשִׁבְעָהshiv/Asevenאַחִיםa/CHIMbrothersוְהָרִאשׁוֹןve/ha/ri/SHONand the firstנָשָׂאna/SAmarriedאִשָּׁהish/SHAa wifeוַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand diedוְזֶרַעve/ZE/raand seedאֵיןenthere was notלוֹloto himוַיַּעֲזֹבvay/ya/a/ZOVand he leftאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹet-ish/TOhis wifeלְאָחִיו׃le/a/CHIVto his brother

    Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

26. 26

    וּכְמוֹ־כֵןu/khe/MO-khenand likewiseגַּםgamalsoהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIthe secondוְכֵןve/KHENand soגַּםgamalsoהַשְּׁלִישִׁיhash/she/li/SHIthe thirdעַדaduntilהַשִּׁבְעָה׃hash/shiv/Athe seven

    Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.

27. 27

    וְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themמֵתָהME/tadiedגַּם־הָאִשָּׁה׃gam-ha/ish/SHAthe woman also

    And last of all the woman died also.

28. 28

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowבִּתְחִיַּתbit/chiy/YATin the resurrection ofהַמֵּתִיםham/me/TIMthe deadלְמִיle/MIto whomמִן־הַשִּׁבְעָהmin-hash/shiv/Aof the sevenתִּהְיֶהtih/YEwill she beלְאִשָּׁהle/ish/SHAa wifeכִּיkiforלְכֻלָּםle/khul/LAMto all of themהָיְתָה׃ha/ye/TAshe was

    Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themטֹעִיםto/IMerringאַתֶּםat/TEMare youבַּאֲשֶׁרba/a/SHERin thatאֵינְכֶםe/ne/KHEMyou are notיוֹדְעִיםyod/IMknowאֶת־הַכְּתוּבִיםet-hak/ke/tu/VIMthe scripturesוְלֹאve/LOand notאֶת־גְּבוּרַתet-ge/vu/RATthe power ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

30. 30

    כִּיkiforבִּתְחִיַּתbit/chiy/YATin the resurrection ofהַמֵּתִיםham/me/TIMthe deadלֹא־יִשְׂאוּlo-yis/Uthey do not marryנָשִׁיםna/SHIMwivesוְלֹאve/LOand notתִנָּשֶׂאנָהtin/na/se/NAare given in marriageכִּיkibutיִהְיוּyih/YUthey will beכְּמַלְאֲכֵיke/mal/a/KHElike the angels ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבַּשָּׁמָיִם׃bash/sha/MA/yimin heaven

    For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

    וְעַל־דְּבַרve/AL-de/VARand concerningתְּחִיַּתte/chiy/YATthe resurrection ofהַמֵּתִיםham/me/TIMthe deadהֲלֹאha/LOhave you notקְרָאתֶםke/ra/TEMreadאֶת־הַנֶּאֱמָרet-han/ne/e/MARwhat was saidלָכֶםla/KHEMto youמִפִּיmip/PIfrom the mouth ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

    אָנֹכִיa/no/KHII amאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamוֵאלֹהֵיve/lo/HEand the God ofיִצְחָקYits/CHAKIsaacוֵאלֹהֵיve/lo/HEand the God ofיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobוְהוּאve/HUand Heאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nuis notאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofהַמֵּתִיםham/me/TIMthe deadכִּיkibutאִם־אֱלֹהֵיim-e/lo/HEthe God ofהַחַיִּים׃ha/chay/YIMthe living

    I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

33. 33

    וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardהֲמוֹןha/MONthe crowd ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיִּשְׁתּוֹמֲמוּvay/yish/to/ma/MUthey were astonishedעַל־תּוֹרָתוֹ׃al-to/ra/TOat his teaching

    And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.

34. 34

    וְהַפְּרוּשִׁיםve/hap/Pe/ru/SHIMand the Phariseesכְּשׇׁמְעָםke/shom/AMwhen they heardכִּיkithatסָכַרsa/KHARhe had stoppedפִּיpithe mouth ofהַצַּדּוּקִיםhats/Tsad/du/KIMthe Sadduceesוַיִּוָּעֲדוּvay/yiv/va/a/DUthey assembledיַחְדָּו׃yach/DAVtogether

    But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.

35. 35

    וַיִּשְׁאָלֵהוּvay/yish/a/LE/huand asked himחֲכַםcha/KHAMa wise man ofתּוֹרָהto/RAlawאֶחָדe/CHADoneמֵהֶםme/HEMof themלְנַסּוֹתוֹle/nas/so/TOto test himלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

    רַבִּיrab/BIrabbiאֵי־זוֹe-zowhichהִיאhiisמִצְוָהmits/VAcommandmentגְּדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatבַּתּוֹרָה׃bat/to/RAin the law

    Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37. 37

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוְאָהַבְתָּve/a/hav/TAand you shall loveאֵת־הָאָדוֹןet-ha/a/DONthe Lordאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godבְּכׇל־לְבָבְךָbe/KHOL-le/va/ve/KHAwith all your heartוּבְכׇל־נַפְשְׁךָu/ve/KHOL-naf/she/KHAand with all your soulוּבְכׇל־מַדָּעֶךָ׃u/ve/KHOL-mad/da/e/KHAand with all your mind

    Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38. 38

    זֹאתzotthisהִיאhiisהַמִּצְוָהham/mits/VAthe commandmentהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAgreatוְהָרִאשׁוֹנָה׃ve/ha/ri/sho/NAand first

    This is the first and great commandment.

39. 39

    וְהַשֵּׁנִיתve/hash/she/NITand the secondדּוֹמָהdo/MAis likeלָהּlato itוְאָהַבְתָּve/a/hav/TAand you shall loveלְרֵעֲךָle/re/a/KHAyour neighborכָּמוֹךָ׃ka/MO/khaas yourself

    And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40. 40

    בִּשְׁתֵּיbish/TEon the twoהַמִּצְוֹתham/mits/VOTcommandmentsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseתְּלוּיָהte/lu/YAhangsכׇּל־הַתּוֹרָהkol-hat/to/RAall the lawוְהַנְּבִיאִים׃ve/han/ne/vi/IMand the prophets

    On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּהִקָּהֵלbe/hik/ka/HELwhen were gatheredהַפְּרוּשִׁיםhap/Pe/ru/SHIMthe Phariseesוַיִּשְׁאָלֵםvay/yish/a/LEMasked themיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

    מַה־דַּעְתְּכֶםma-da/te/KHEMwhat is your opinionעַל־הַמָּשִׁיחַal-Ham/ma/SHI/achof the Messiahבֶּן־מִיben-mithe son of whomהוּאhuis heוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבֶּן־דָּוִד׃ben-Da/VIDthe son of David

    Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themוְאֵיךְve/EKHand howקָרָא־לוֹka/RA-lodoes call himדָוִדDa/VIDDavidבָּרוּחַba/RU/achin the Spiritאָדוֹןa/DONLordבְּאׇמְרוֹ׃be/om/ROwhen he says

    He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

    נְאֻםne/UMthe declaration ofיְהוָֹהAdonaithe LORDלַאדֹנִיla/do/NIto my Lordשֵׁבshevsitלִימִינִיli/mi/NIat My right handעַד־אָשִׁיתad-a/SHITuntil I makeאֹיְבֶיךָoy/VE/khayour enemiesהֲדֹםha/DOMa footstoolלְרַגְלֶיךָ׃le/rag/LE/khafor your feet

    The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

45. 45

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאִם־דָּוִדim-Da/VIDif Davidקֹרֵאko/REcallsלוֹlohimאָדוֹןa/DONLordאֵיךְekhhowהוּאhuis heבְּנוֹ׃be/NOhis son

    If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

46. 46

    וְלֹא־יָכֹלve/LO-ya/KHOLand could notאִישׁisha manלַעֲנוֹתla/a/NOTanswerאֹתוֹo/TOhimדָּבָרda/VARa wordוְלֹא־עָרַבve/LO-a/RAVand did not pledgeעוֹדodanymoreאִישׁisha manאֶת־לִבּוֹet-lib/BOhis heartמִן־הַיּוֹםmin-hay/YOMfrom the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatלִשְׁאֹלlish/OLto askאוֹתוֹ׃o/TOhim

    And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
