   וַיִּגְּשׁוּvay/yig/ge/SHUand came nearהַפְּרוּשִׁיםhap/Pe/ru/SHIMthe Phariseesוְהַצַּדּוּקִיםve/hats/Tsad/du/KIMand the Sadduceesלְנַסּוֹתוֹle/nas/so/TOto test himוַיִּשְׁאֲלוּvay/yish/a/LUand they askedמֵאִתּוֹme/it/TOof himלְהַרְאוֹתָםle/har/o/TAMto show themאוֹתota signמִן־הַשָּׁמָיִם׃min-hash/sha/MA/yimfrom heaven

   The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

   He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

   וּבַבֹּקֶרu/vab/BO/kerand in the morningתֹּאמְרוּto/me/RUyou sayהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayסַעַרSA/ara stormכִּי־אָדְמוּki-AD/mufor are redוְהִתְקַדְּרוּve/hit/kad/de/RUand are overcastהַשָּׁמָיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe skyחֲנֵפִיםcha/ne/FIMhypocritesאַתֶּםat/TEMyouמַכִּירִיםmak/ki/RIMdiscernאֶת־פְּנֵיet-pe/NEthe face ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe skyוְאֹתוֹתve/o/TOTbut the signs ofהָעִתִּיםha/it/TIMthe timesלֹאlonotתַכִּירוּ׃tak/KI/ruyou discern

   And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

   דּוֹרdora generationרַעraevilוּמְנָאֵףu/me/na/EFand adulterousמְבַקֶּשׁ־לוֹme/vak/KESH-loseeks for itselfאוֹתota signוְאוֹתve/OTand a signלֹאlonotיִנָּתֶן־לוֹyin/NA/ten-lowill be given to itבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptאִם־אוֹתim-otthe sign ofיוֹנָהYo/NAJonahהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetוַיַּעַזְבֵםvay/ya/az/VEMand he left themוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentלוֹ׃lohis way

   A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

   And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

   Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

   וַיַּחְשְׁבוּvay/yach/she/VUand they reasonedכֹהkhothusוָכֹהva/KHOand thusבְּקִרְבָּםbe/kir/BAMwithin themselvesוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARbecauseשֶׁלֹּא־לָקַחְנוּshel/LO-la/KACH/nuthat we did not takeאִתָּנוּit/TA/nuwith usלָחֶם׃LA/chembread

   And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

   וַיֵּדַעvay/YE/daand knewיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themקְטַנֵּיke/tan/NEO small ofאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithמָה־תַּחְשְׁבוּma-tach/she/VUwhy do you reasonבִּלְבַבְכֶםbil/vav/KHEMin your heartאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־לְקַחְתֶּםlo-le/kach/TEMyou did not takeאִתְּכֶםit/te/KHEMwith youלָחֶם׃LA/chembread

   Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

   הַעוֹדha/ODyetלֹאlodo you notתַשְׂכִּילוּtas/ki/LUunderstandוְלֹאve/LOand notתִּזְכְּרוּtiz/ke/RUrememberאֶת־חֲמֵשֶׁתet-cha/ME/shetthe fiveכִּכְּרוֹת־הַלֶּחֶםkik/ke/ROT-hal/LE/chemloaves of breadלַחֲמֵשֶׁתla/cha/ME/shetfor the fiveאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandאִישׁishmenוְכַמָּהve/kham/MAand how manyסַלִּיםsal/LIMbasketsנְשָׂאתֶם׃ne/sa/TEMyou took up

   Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

    Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

    אֵיךְekhhowלֹאlodo notתָבִינוּta/vi/NUunderstandכִּיkithatלֹאlonotעַל־הַלֶּחֶםal-hal/LE/chemabout the breadאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI spokeאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youהִשָּׁמְרוּhish/sha/me/RUbewareלָכֶםla/KHEMyourselvesמִשְּׂאֹרmis/se/ORof the leaven ofהַפְּרוּשִׁיםhap/Pe/ru/SHIMthe Phariseesוְהַצַּדּוּקִים׃ve/hats/Tsad/du/KIMand of the Sadducees

    How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

    Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּבוֹאke/VOwhen cameיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֶל־גְּלִילוֹתel-ge/li/LOTto the regions ofקֵיסַרְיָהKe/sar/YACaesareaשֶׁל־פִילִפּוֹסShel-fi/lip/POSPhilippiוַיִּשְׁאַלvay/yish/ALand he askedאֶת־תַּלְמִידָיוet-tal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמָה־אֹמְרִיםma-om/RIMwhat sayלִיliof meבְנֵיve/NEthe sons ofאָדָםa/DAMmenמִיmiwhoהוּאhuhe isבֶּן־הָאָדָם׃ben-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of man

    When Jesus came into the coasts of Cæsarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14. 14

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidיֵשׁyeshthere areאֹמְרִיםom/RIMwho sayיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnהַמַּטְבִּילham/Mat/BILthe Baptistהוּאhuhe isוְיֵשׁve/YESHand there areאֹמְרִיםom/RIMwho sayאֵלִיָּסE/liy/YASEliasוַאֲחֵרִיםva/a/che/RIMand othersאֹמְרִיםom/RIMsayיִרְמְיָהוּYir/me/YA/huJeremiahאוֹoorאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִן־הַנְּבִיאִים׃min-han/ne/vi/IMof the prophets

    And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youמַה־תֹּאמְרוּma-to/me/RUwhat do you sayלִיliof meמִיmiwhoאָנִי׃A/niI am

    He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16. 16

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimonפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאַתָּהat/TAyouהוּאhuareהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahבֶּן־אֱלֹהִיםben-E/lo/HIMthe Son of Godחַיִּים׃chay/YIMliving

    And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17. 17

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאַשְׁרֶיךָash/RE/khablessed are youשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimonבַּר־יוֹנָהBar-yo/NABarjonaכִּי־בָשָׂרki-va/SARfor fleshוָדָםva/DAMand bloodלֹאlonotגִלָּה־לְךָgil/LA-le/KHArevealed to youאֶת־זֹאתet-zotthisכִּיkibutאִםimratherאָבִיA/VImy Fatherשֶׁבַּשָּׁמָיִם׃sheb/bash/sha/MA/yimwho is in heaven

    And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

    וְגַם־אֲנִיve/GAM-a/NIand also Iאֹמֵרo/MERsayלְךָle/KHAto youכִּיkithatאַתָּהat/TAyou areפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterוְעַל־הַצּוּרve/AL-hats/TSURand on the rockהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֶבְנֶהev/NEI will buildאֶת־קְהִלָּתִיet-ke/hil/la/TImy churchוְשַׁעֲרֵיve/sha/a/REand the gates ofשְׁאוֹלShe/OLSheolלֹאlonotיִגְבְּרוּyig/be/RUwill prevailעָלֶיהָ׃a/LE/haagainst it

    And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19. 19

    וְאֶתֵּןve/et/TENand I will giveלְךָle/KHAto youאֶת־מַפְתְּחוֹתet-maf/te/CHOTthe keys ofמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמָיִםhash/sha/MA/yimheavenוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand whateverתֶּאֱסֹרte/e/SORyou bindעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retson the earthאָסוּרa/SURboundיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin heavenוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand whateverתַּתִּירtat/TIRyou looseעַל־הָאָרֶץal-ha/A/retson the earthמֻתָּרmut/TARloosedיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beבַּשָּׁמָיִם׃bash/sha/MA/yimin heaven

    And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

20. 20

    אָזazthenצִוָּהtsiv/VAhe commandedעַל־תַּלְמִידָיוal-tal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיְסַפְּרוּye/sap/pe/RUthey should tellלְאִישׁle/ISHto any manכִּיkithatהוּאhuhe wasיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַ׃ham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiah

    Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

    מִן־הָעֵתmin-ha/ETfrom the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto tellלְתַלְמִידָיוle/tal/mi/DAYVto his disciplesכִּיkithatצָרִיךְtsa/RIKHmustהוּאhuheלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetgoיְרוּשָׁלָיִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemוִיעֻנֶּהvi/un/NEand sufferהַרְבֵּהhar/BEmuchמִידֵיMI/deat the hands ofהַזְּקֵנִיםhaz/ze/ke/NIMthe eldersוְרָאשֵׁיve/ra/SHEand the chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַסּוֹפְרִיםve/has/sof/RIMand the scribesוְיֵהָרֵגve/ye/ha/REGand be killedוּבַיּוֹםu/vay/YOMand on the dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיhash/she/li/SHIthirdקוֹםkomriseיָקוּם׃ya/KUMhe will rise

    From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

22. 22

    וַיִּקָּחֵהוּvay/yik/ka/CHE/huand took himפֶטְרוֹסFet/ROSPeterוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganלִגְעָר־בּוֹlig/AR-boto rebuke himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingחָלִילָהcha/LI/lafar be itלְךָle/KHAon youאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordאַל־יְהִי־לְךָal-ye/HI-le/KHAlet it not be to youכָּזֹאת׃ka/ZOTlike this

    Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

23. 23

    וַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand he turnedוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלְפֶטְרוֹסle/Fet/ROSto Peterסֹבsovturnאֶל־אַחֲרָיel-a/cha/RAYbehind meהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanמִכְשׁוֹלmikh/SHOLa stumbling blockאַתָּהat/TAyou areלִיlito meכִּיkiforלִבְּךָlib/be/KHAyour heart isלְדִבְרֵיle/div/REto the things ofבְנֵי־אָדָםve/NE-a/DAMthe sons of menוְלֹאve/LOand notלְדִבְרֵיle/div/REto the things ofאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוel-tal/mi/DAYVto his disciplesאִישׁisha manכִּי־יַחְפֹּץki-yach/POTSif desiresלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goאַחֲרַיa/cha/RAYafter meיְכַחֵשׁye/kha/CHESHlet him denyבְּעַצְמוֹbe/ats/MOhimselfוְנָשָׂאve/na/SAand take upאֶת־צְלוּבוֹet-tse/lu/VOhis crossוְהָלַךְve/ha/LAKHand goאַחֲרָי׃a/cha/RAYafter me

    Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25. 25

    כִּיkiforהֶחָפֵץhe/cha/FETSwhoever desiresלְהַצִּילle/hats/TSILto saveאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹet-naf/SHOhis lifeתֹּאבַדto/VADwill be lostנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis lifeמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom himוְהַמְאַבֵּדve/ham/ab/BEDand whoever losesנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis lifeלְמַעֲנִיle/ma/a/NIfor my sakeהוּאhuheיִמְצָאֶנָּה׃yim/tsa/en/NAwill find it

    For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26. 26

    כִּיkiforמַה־יּוֹעִילma-yo/ILwhat will profitהָאָדָםha/a/DAMa manשֶׁיִּקְנֶהshey/yik/NEif he gainsאֶת־כׇּל־הָעוֹלָםet-kol-ha/o/LAMthe whole worldוְהִשְׁחִיתve/hish/CHITand destroysאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹet-naf/SHOhis own soulאוֹoorמַה־יִּתֵּןma-yit/TENwhat will giveהָאָדָםha/a/DAMa manפִּדְיוֹןpid/YONas the ransom ofנַפְשׁוֹ׃naf/SHOhis soul

    For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27. 27

    כִּיkiforבֶּן־הָאָדָםben-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of manעָתִידa/TIDis aboutלָבוֹאla/VOto comeבִּכְבוֹדbikh/VODin the glory ofאָבִיוA/VIVhis Fatherעִם־מַלְאָכָיוim-mal/a/KHAYVwith his angelsוְאָזve/AZand thenיְשַׁלֵּםye/shal/LEMhe will repayלְכׇל־אִישׁle/KHOL-ishto every manכְּמַעֲשֵׂהוּ׃ke/ma/a/SE/huaccording to his works

    For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

28. 28

    אָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatיֵשׁyeshthere areבָּעֹמְדִיםba/om/DIMamong those standingפֹּהpohereאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־יִטְעֲמוּlo-yit/a/MUwill not tasteטַעַםTA/amthe taste ofמִיתָהmi/TAdeathעַדaduntilכִּי־יִרְאוּki-yir/Uthey seeאֶת־בֶּן־הָאָדָםet-Ben-ha/a/DAMthe Son of manבָּאbacomingבְּמַלְכוּתוֹ׃be/mal/khu/TOin his kingdom

    Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
