   Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

   וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyתַּלְמִידֶיךָtal/mi/de/KHAyour disciplesעֹבְרִיםov/RIMtransgressאֵת־קַבָּלַתet-kab/ba/LATthe tradition ofהַזְּקֵנִיםhaz/ze/ke/NIMthe eldersכִּיkiforאֵינָםe/NAMthey do notנֹטְלִיםnot/LIMwashיְדֵיהֶםye/de/HEMtheir handsלַסְּעוּדָה׃las/se/u/DAfor the meal

   Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyגַּם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMyou alsoעֹבְרִיםov/RIMtransgressאֶת־מִצְוַתet-mits/VATthe commandment ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofקַבָּלַתְכֶם׃kab/ba/lat/KHEMyour tradition

   But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

   כִּיkiforהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכַּבֵּדkab/BEDhonorאֶת־אָבִיךָet-a/VI/khayour fatherוְאֶת־אִמֶּךָve/ET-im/ME/khaand your motherוּמְקַלֵּלu/me/kal/LELand he who cursesאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוְאִמּוֹve/im/MOor his motherמוֹתmotdieיוּמָת׃yu/MAThe shall be put to death

   For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

   וְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMbut youאֹמְרִיםom/RIMsayהָאֹמֵרha/o/MERwhoever saysלְאָבִיוle/a/VIVto his fatherוּלְאִמּוֹu/le/im/MOor his motherקׇרְבָּןkor/BANan offeringמַה־שָּׁאַתָּהma-sha/at/TAwhatever youנֶהֱנֶהne/he/NEmight benefitלִי׃lifrom me

   But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

   אֵינוֹe/NOhe is notחַיָּבchay/YAVobligatedבְּכִבּוּדbe/khib/BUDto honorאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוְאִמּוֹve/im/MOor his motherוַתָּפֵרוּvat/ta/FE/ruand you have annulledאֶת־מִצְוַתet-mits/VATthe commandment ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofקַבָּלַתְכֶם׃kab/ba/lat/KHEMyour tradition

   And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

   חֲנֵפִיםcha/ne/FIMhypocritesהֵיטֵבhe/TEVwellנִבָּאnib/BAprophesiedעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMabout youיְשַׁעְיָהוּYe/sha/YA/huEsaiasלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

   נִגַּשׁnig/GASHdraws nearהָעָםha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבְּפִיוbe/FIVwith its mouthוּבִשְׂפָתָיוu/vis/fa/TAYVand with its lipsכִּבְּדוּנִיkib/be/DU/nithey honor Meוְלִבָּםve/lib/BAMbut their heartרָחַקra/CHAKis farמִמֶּנִּי׃mim/MEN/nifrom Me

   This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

   וְתֹהוּve/TO/huand in vainיִרְאָתָםyir/a/TAMis their fearאֹתִיo/TIof Meמִצְוַתmits/VATthe commandment ofאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenמְלַמְּדִים׃me/lam/me/DIMteaching

   But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he calledאֶל־הָעָםel-ha/AMto the peopleוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themשִׁמְעוּshim/Uhearוְהָבִינוּ׃ve/ha/VI/nuand understand

    And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

    לֹאlonotהַנִּכְנָסhan/nikh/NASwhat entersאֶל־הַפֶּהel-hap/PEinto the mouthיְטַמֵּאye/tam/MEdefilesאֶת־הָאָדָםet-ha/a/DAMthe manכִּיkibutאִםimratherהַיּוֹצֵאhay/yo/TSEwhat comes outמִן־הַפֶּהmin-hap/PEfrom the mouthהוּאhuitמְטַמֵּאme/tam/MEdefilesאֶת־הָאָדָם׃et-ha/a/DAMthe man

    Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

    וַיִּגְּשׁוּvay/yig/ge/SHUand came nearאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himתַּלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidהֲיָדַעְתָּha/ya/DA/tado you knowכִּיkithatהַפְּרוּשִׁיםhap/Pe/ru/SHIMthe Phariseesשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uheardאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַיִּכָּשְׁלוּ־בוֹ׃vay/yik/ka/she/LU-voand stumbled at it

    Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidכׇּל־מַטָּעkol-mat/TAevery plantingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹאlonotנָטַעna/TAplantedאָבִיA/VImy Fatherשֶׁבַּשָּׁמַיִםsheb/bash/sha/MA/yimwho is in heavenעָקוֹרa/KORuprootיֵעָקֵר׃ye/a/KERwill be uprooted

    But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

    הַנִּיחוּhan/NI/chuleaveאוֹתָםo/TAMthemמַדְרִיכִיםmad/ri/KHIMguidesעִוְרִיםiv/RIMblindהֵמָּהHEM/mathey areלַעִוְרִיםla/iv/RIMfor the blindוְכִי־יַדְרִיךְve/KHI-yad/RIKHand if guidesעִוֵּרiv/VERa blind manאֶת־הָעִוֵּרet-ha/iv/VERthe blind manוְנָפְלוּve/na/fe/LUand will fallשְׁנֵיהֶםshe/ne/HEMthe two of themאֶל־הַשָּׁחַת׃el-hash/SHA/chatinto the pit

    Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבָּאֵרba/ERexplainלָנוּLA/nuto usאֶת־הַמָּשָׁלet-ham/ma/SHALthe parableהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusעֲדֶנָהa/DE/nastillגַם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMyou alsoלֹאlodo notתַשְׂכִּילוּ׃tas/ki/LUunderstand

    And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

17. 17

    הַעוֹדha/ODstillלֹאlodo notתֵדְעוּted/Uyou knowכִּיkithatכׇל־הַבָּאkhol-hab/BAeverything that entersאֶל־הַפֶּהel-hap/PEthe mouthיוֹרֵדyo/REDgoes downאֶל־הַכֶּרֶשׂel-hak/KE/resinto the bellyוְיִשָּׁפֵךְve/yish/sha/FEKHand is poured outמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereלְמוֹצָאוֹת׃le/mo/tsa/OTinto the latrine

    Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

18. 18

    אֲבָלa/VALbutהַיּוֹצֵאhay/yo/TSEwhat comes outמִן־הַפֶּהmin-hap/PEout of the mouthיוֹצֵאyo/TSEcomes outמִן־הַלֵּבmin-hal/LEVfrom the heartוְהוּאve/HUand itמְטַמֵּאme/tam/MEdefilesאֶת־הָאָדָם׃et-ha/a/DAMthe man

    But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

19. 19

    כִּיkiforמִן־הַלֵּבmin-hal/LEVout of the heartיוֹצְאוֹתyots/OTcome outמַחְשְׁבוֹתmach/she/VOTthoughts ofרָעraevilרְצִיחוֹתre/tsi/CHOTmurdersנִאוּפִיםni/u/FIMadulteriesזְנוּנִיםze/nu/NIMfornicationsגְּנֵבוֹתge/ne/VOTtheftsעֵדוּתe/DUTtestimony ofשֶׁקֶרSHE/kerfalsehoodוְגִדּוּפִים׃ve/gid/du/FIMblasphemies

    For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

20. 20

    אֵלֶּהEL/letheseהֵםhemareהַמְטַמְּאִיםham/tam/me/IMwhat defilesאֶת־הָאָדָםet-ha/a/DAMa manאֲבָלa/VALbutאֲכִילָהa/khi/LAeatingבְּלֹאbe/LOwithoutנְטִילַתne/ti/LATwashing ofיָדַיִםya/DA/yimhandsלֹאlonotתְּטַמֵּאte/tam/MEdefilesאֶת־הָאָדָם׃et-ha/a/DAMa man

    These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

21. 21

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereוַיָּסַרvay/YA/sarand withdrewאֶל־גְּלִילוֹתel-ge/li/LOTto the regions ofצוֹרTsorTyreוְצִידוֹן׃ve/Tsi/DONand Sidon

    Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

22. 22

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאִשָּׁהish/SHAa womanכְנַעֲנִיתKhe/na/a/NITCanaaniteיֹצֵאתyo/TSETcame outמִן־הַגְּבוּלוֹתmin-hag/ge/vu/LOTfrom the bordersהָהֵםha/HEMthoseוַתִּצְעַקvat/tits/AKand cried outאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingחׇנֵּנִיchon/NE/nihave mercy on meאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordבֶן־דָּוִדven-Da/VIDson of Davidכִּיkiforבִתִּיvit/TImy daughterמְעֻנָּהme/un/NAis afflictedמְאֹדme/ODveryעַל־יְדֵיal-ye/DEbyשֵׁד׃sheda demon

    And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23. 23

    וְלֹא־עָנָהve/LO-a/NAand he did not answerאֹתָהּo/TAherדָּבָרda/VARa wordוַיִּגְּשׁוּvay/yig/ge/SHUand came nearתַלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesוַיְבַקְשׁוּvay/vak/SHUand askedמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingשַׁלְּחֶהָshal/le/che/HAsend her awayכִּי־צֹעֶקֶתki-tso/E/ketfor cryingהִיאhishe isאַחֲרֵינוּ׃a/cha/RE/nuafter us

    But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24. 24

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidלֹאlonotשֻׁלַּחְתִּיshul/LACH/tiI was sentבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptאֶל־הַצֹּאןel-hats/TSONto the sheepהָאֹבְדוֹתha/ov/DOTlostאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich areלְבֵיתle/VETof the house ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25. 25

    וְהִיאve/HIand sheבָאָהva/Acameוַתִּשְׁתַּחוּvat/tish/TA/chuand bowed downלוֹloto himוַתֹּאמַרvat/to/MARand saidאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordעׇזְרֵנִי׃oz/re/NIhelp me

    Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26. 26

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidלֹא־טוֹבlo-tovit is not goodלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto takeאֶת־לֶחֶםet-LE/chemthe bread ofהַבָּנִיםhab/ba/NIMthe childrenוּלְהַשְׁלִיכוֹu/le/hash/li/KHOand to throw itלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeצְעִירֵיtse/i/REthe young ofהַכְּלָבִים׃hak/ke/la/VIMdogs

    But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27. 27

    וַתֹּאמַרvat/to/MARand she saidכֵּןkenyesאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy LordאֶפֶסE/fesyetכִּי־גַם־צְעִירֵיki-gam-tse/i/REfor even the young ofהַכְּלָבִיםhak/ke/la/VIMthe dogsיֹאכְלוּyo/khe/LUeatמִן־הַפֵּרוּרִיםmin-hap/pe/ru/RIMfrom the crumbsהַנֹּפְלִיםhan/nof/LIMthat fallמֵעַל־שֻׁלְחַןme/AL-shul/CHANfrom the table ofאֲדֹנֵיהֶם׃a/do/ne/HEMtheir masters

    And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

28. 28

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herאִשָּׁהish/SHAO womanרַבָּהrab/BAgreat isאֱמוּנָתֵךְe/mu/na/TEKHyour faithיְהִי־לָךְye/HI-lakhlet it be to youכִּרְצוֹנֵךְkir/tso/NEKHas you desireוַתֵּרָפֵאvat/te/ra/FEand was healedבִתָּהּvit/TAher daughterמִן־הַשָּׁעָהmin-hash/sha/Afrom the hourהַהִיא׃ha/HIthat

    Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

    וַיַּעֲבֹרvay/ya/a/VORand passed onיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־יָםel-yamto the sea ofהַגָּלִילHag/ga/LILGalileeוַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland went upהָהָרָהha/HA/rato the mountainוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand satשָׁם׃shamthere

    And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהֲמוֹןha/MONa crowd ofעַםampeopleרָבravmanyוְעִמָּהֶםve/im/ma/HEMand with themפִּסְחִיםpis/CHIMlameעִוְרִיםiv/RIMblindאִלְּמִיםil/le/MIMmuteקִטְּעִיםkit/te/IMmaimedוְרַבִּיםve/rab/BIMand manyכָּהֵמָּהka/HEM/malike themוַיַּפִּילוּםvay/yap/pi/LUMand they laid themלְרַגְלֵיle/rag/LEat the feet ofיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיִּרְפָּאֵם׃vay/yir/pa/EMand he healed them

    And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:

31. 31

    וַיִּתְמְהוּvay/yit/me/HUand marveledהָעָםha/AMthe peopleבִּרְאוֹתָםbir/o/TAMwhen they sawאֶת־הָאִלְּמִיםet-ha/il/le/MIMthe muteמְדַבְּרִיםme/dab/be/RIMspeakingוְהַקִּטְּעִיםve/hak/kit/te/IMand the maimedבְּרִיאִיםbe/ri/IMhealthyוְהַפִּסְחִיםve/hap/pis/CHIMand the lameמְהַלְּכִיםme/hal/le/KHIMwalkingוְהַעִוְרִיםve/ha/iv/RIMand the blindרֹאִיםro/IMseeingוַיְשַׁבְּחוּvay/shab/be/CHUand they praisedאֶת־אֱלֹהֵיet-e/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

32. 32

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוel-tal/mi/DAYVto his disciplesוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidנִכְמְרוּnikh/me/RUare stirredרַחֲמַיra/cha/MAYmy compassionsעַל־הָעָםal-ha/AMfor the peopleכִּי־זֶהki-zefor thisעׇמְדָםom/DAMthey have stayedעִמָּדִיim/ma/DIwith meשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthreeיָמִיםya/MIMdaysוְאֵיןve/ENand there is notלָהֶםla/HEMto themמַה־לֶּאֱכֹלma-le/e/KHOLwhat to eatוְאֵינֶנִּיve/e/NEN/niand I am notחָפֵץcha/FETSwillingלְשַׁלְּחָםle/shal/le/CHAMto send them awayרְעֵבִיםre/e/VIMhungryפֶּן־יִתְעַלְּפוּpen-yit/al/le/FUlest they faintבַּדָּרֶךְ׃bad/DA/rekhon the way

    Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

33. 33

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהַתַּלְמִידִיםhat/tal/mi/DIMthe disciplesמֵאַיִןme/A/yinfrom whereלָנוּLA/nudo we haveבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessדֵּי־לֶחֶםde-LE/chemenough breadלְהַשְׂבִּיעַle/has/BI/ato satisfyאֶת־הָמוֹןet-ha/MONa crowdרַבravgreatכָּזֶה׃ka/ZElike this

    And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

34. 34

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themכַּמָּהkam/MAhow manyכִכְּרוֹתkhik/ke/ROTloavesלֶחֶםLE/chemof breadלָכֶםla/KHEMdo you haveוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidשֶׁבַעSHE/vasevenוּמְעַטu/me/ATand a fewדָּגִיםda/GIMfishקְטַנִּים׃ke/tan/NIMsmall

    And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

35. 35

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he commandedאֶת־הֲמוֹןet-ha/MONthe crowd ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUand they satלָאָרֶץ׃la/A/retson the ground

    And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

36. 36

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand he tookאֶת־שֶׁבַעet-SHE/vathe sevenכִּכְּרוֹתkik/ke/ROTloavesהַלֶּחֶםhal/LE/chemof breadוְאֵתve/ETandהַדָּגִיםhad/da/GIMthe fishוַיּוֹדֶהvay/yo/DEand gave thanksוַיִּפְרֹסvay/yif/ROSand brokeוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveאֶל־הַתַּלְמִידִיםel-hat/tal/mi/DIMto the disciplesוְהַתַּלְמִידִיםve/hat/tal/mi/DIMand the disciplesנָתְנוּna/te/NUgaveלָעָם׃la/AMto the people

    And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

37. 37

    וַיֹּאכְלוּvay/yo/khe/LUand ateכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themוַיִּשְׂבָּעוּvay/yis/BA/uand were satisfiedוַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand they took upמִן־הַפְּתוֹתִיםmin-hap/pe/to/TIMof the piecesהַנּוֹתָרִיםhan/no/ta/RIMthat were leftשִׁבְעָהshiv/Asevenדוּדִיםdu/DIMbasketsמְלֵאִים׃me/le/IMfull

    And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.

38. 38

    וְהָאֹכְלִיםve/ha/okh/LIMand those who ateאַרְבַּעַתar/BA/atwere fourאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandאִישׁishmenמִלְּבַדmil/le/VADbesidesהַנָּשִׁיםhan/na/SHIMwomenוְהַטָּף׃ve/hat/TAFand little ones

    And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

    And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
