   בָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatשָׁמַעsha/MAheardהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodשַׂר־רֹבַעsar-RO/vathe ruler of a quarter ofהַמְּדִינָהham/me/di/NAthe provinceאֵת־שֵׁמַעet-SHE/mathe report ofיֵשׁוּעַ׃Ye/SHU/aJesus

   At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־נְעָרָיוel-ne/a/RAYVto his servantsזֶהzethisהוּאhuisיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnהַמַּטְבִּילham/Mat/BILthe Baptistאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנֵעוֹרne/ORhas been awakenedמִן־הַמֵּתִיםmin-ham/me/TIMfrom the deadעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeהַכֹּחוֹתhak/ko/CHOTthe powersפֹּעֲלִיםpo/a/LIMare workingבּוֹ׃boin him

   And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.

   כִּיkiforהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodתָּפַשׂta/FAShad seizedאֶת־יוֹחָנָןet-Yo/cha/NANon Johnוַיַּאַסְרֵהוּvay/ya/as/RE/huand bound himוַיְשִׂימֵהוּvay/si/ME/huand put himבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofהַסֹּהַרhas/SO/harprisonבִּגְלַלbig/LALbecause ofהוֹרוֹדְיָהHo/rod/YAHerodiasאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofפִילִפּוֹסFi/lip/POSPhilipאָחִיו׃a/CHIVhis brother

   For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.

   כִּיkiforאָמַרa/MARhad saidיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֲסוּרָהa/su/RAforbiddenהִיאhiis sheלָךְ׃lakhto you

   For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.

   וַיְבַקֵּשׁvay/vak/KESHand he soughtלְהׇרְגוֹle/hor/GOto kill himוַיִּירָאvay/yi/RAand he fearedאֶת־הֶהָמוֹןet-he/ha/MONthe crowdכִּיkibecauseלְנָבִיאle/na/VIa prophetחֲשָׁבֻהוּ׃cha/sha/vu/HUthey held him

   And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּיוֹםbe/YOMon the day ofהֻלֶּדֶתhul/LE/detthe birth ofהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodוַתְּרַקֵּדvat/te/rak/KEDand dancedבַּת־הוֹרוֹדְיָהbat-Ho/rod/YAthe daughter of Herodiasבְּתוֹכָםbe/to/KHAMin their midstוַתִּיטַבvat/ti/TAVand was pleasingבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofהוֹרְדוֹס׃Hor/DOSHerod

   But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.

   וַיִּשָּׁבַעvay/yish/sha/VAand he sworeלָהּlato herוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidמַה־תִּשְׁאַלma-tish/ALwhat will askנַפְשֵׁךְnaf/SHEKHyour soulוְאֶתֵּןve/et/TENI will giveלָךְ׃lakhto you

   Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.

   וְאִמָּהּve/im/MAand her motherשָׂמָהSA/maputאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsבְּפִיהָbe/FI/hain her mouthוַתִּשְׁאַלvat/tish/ALand she askedלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingתְּנָה־לִּיte/NA-ligive meפֹהfohereבַּקְּעָרָהbak/ke/a/RAon a platterאֶת־רֹאשׁet-roshthe head ofיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnהַמַּטְבִּיל׃ham/Mat/BILthe Baptist

   And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger.

   וַיֵּצֶרvay/YE/tserand it distressedלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhthe kingאַךְakhbutבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURfor the sake ofהַשְּׁבוּעָהhash/she/vu/Athe oathוְהַמְסֻבִּיםve/ham/sub/BIMand those recliningעִמּוֹim/MOwith himצִוָּהtsiv/VAhe commandedלָתֵתla/TETto be givenלָהּ׃lato her

   And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he sentוַיִּשָּׂאvay/yis/SAand took offאֶת־רֹאשׁet-roshthe head ofיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnמֵעָלָיוme/a/LAYVfrom himבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofהַסֹּהַר׃has/SO/harthe prison

    And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

11. 11

    וַיָּבִיאוּvay/ya/VI/uand they broughtאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹet-ro/SHOhis headבַּקְּעָרָהbak/ke/a/RAon a platterוַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand gaveבִידֵיvi/DEinto the hands ofהַנַּעֲרָהhan/na/a/RAthe girlוַתְּבִיאֵהוּvat/te/vi/E/huand she brought itאֶל־אִמָּהּ׃el-im/MAto her mother

    And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.

    וַיִּגְּשׁוּvay/yig/ge/SHUand came nearתַּלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesוַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand took upאֶת־גְּוִיָּתוֹet-ge/viy/ya/TOhis bodyוַיִּקְבְּרוּהָvay/yik/be/ru/HAand buried itוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentוַיַּגִּידוּvay/yag/GI/duand toldלְיֵשׁוּעַ׃Le/ye/SHU/aJesus

    And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּשָׁמְעוֹke/sha/me/Owhen he heardאֶת־זֹאתet-zotthisוַיָּסַרvay/YA/sarand he withdrewמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereבׇּאֳנִיָּהbo/o/niy/YAin a boatאֶל־מְקוֹםel-me/KOMto a placeחׇרְבָּהchor/BAdesolateוְאֵין־אִישׁve/EN-ishand no manאִתּוֹit/TOwith himוַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand heardהֲמוֹןha/MONthe crowd ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himבְּרַגְלֵיהֶםbe/rag/le/HEMon footמִן־הֶעָרִים׃min-he/a/RIMfrom the cities

    When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawהֲמוֹןha/MONa crowdעַם־רָבam-ravof many peopleוַיֶּהֱמוּvay/ye/he/MUand were stirredמֵעָיוme/AYVhis inward partsלָהֶםla/HEMfor themוַיְרַפֵּאvay/rap/PEand he healedאֶת־הַחַלָּשִׁיםet-ha/chal/la/SHIMthe weakאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereבָּהֶם׃ba/HEMamong them

    And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

15. 15

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passלְעֵתle/ETat the time ofעֶרֶבE/reveveningוַיִּגְּשׁוּvay/yig/ge/SHUcame nearאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himתַּלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidהַמָּקוֹםham/ma/KOMthe place isחָרֵבcha/REVdesolateוְגַם־נָטָהve/GAM-na/TAand already has declinedהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayשַׁלְּחָהshal/le/CHAsend awayאֶת־הֲמוֹןet-ha/MONthe crowd ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוְיֵלְכוּve/yel/KHUand let them goאֶל־הַכְּפָרִיםel-hak/ke/fa/RIMinto the villagesלִקְנוֹתlik/NOTto buyלָהֶםla/HEMfor themselvesאֹכֶל׃O/khelfood

    And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאֵינָםe/NAMthey do notצְרִיכִיםtse/ri/KHIMneedלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goתְּנוּ־אַתֶּםte/NU-at/TEMyou giveלָהֶםla/HEMto themלֶאֱכֹל׃le/e/KHOLto eat

    But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

17. 17

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֵין־לָנוּen-LA/nuwe have nothingפֹהfohereכִּיkibutאִםimonlyחֲמֵשֶׁתcha/ME/shetfiveכִּכְּרוֹת־לֶחֶםkik/ke/ROT-LE/chemloaves of breadוּשְׁנֵיu/she/NEand twoדָגִים׃da/GIMfish

    And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

18. 18

    וַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהֲבִיאוּםha/vi/UMbring themאֵלַיe/LAYto meהֵנָּה׃HEN/nahere

    He said, Bring them hither to me.

19. 19

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he commandedאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleלָשֶׁבֶתla/SHE/vetto sitעַל־הַדֶּשֶׁאal-had/de/SHEon the grassוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־חֲמֵשֶׁתet-cha/ME/shetthe fiveכִּכְּרוֹת־הַלֶּחֶםkik/ke/ROT-hal/LE/chemloaves of breadוְאֶת־שְׁנֵיve/ET-she/NEand the twoהַדָּגִיםhad/da/GIMfishוַיִּשָּׂאvay/yis/SAand lifted upעֵינָיוe/NAYVhis eyesהַשָּׁמַיְמָהhash/sha/MAY/mato heavenוַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhand blessedוַיִּפְרֹסvay/yif/ROSand brokeוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveאֶת־הַלֶּחֶםet-hal/LE/chemthe breadלַתַּלְמִידִיםlat/tal/mi/DIMto his disciplesוְהַתַּלְמִידִיםve/hat/tal/mi/DIMand the disciplesנָתְנוּna/te/NUgaveלָעָם׃la/AMto the people

    And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאכְלוּvay/yo/khe/LUand ateכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themוַיִּשְׂבָּעוּvay/yis/BA/uand were filledוַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand they took upמִן־הַפְּתוֹתִיםmin-hap/pe/to/TIMof the piecesהַנּוֹתָרִיםhan/no/ta/RIMthat remainedשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרshe/NEM-a/SARtwelveסַלִּיםsal/LIMbasketsמְלֵאִים׃me/le/IMfull

    And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

21. 21

    וְהָאֹכְלִיםve/ha/okh/LIMand those who ateכַּחֲמֵשֶׁתka/cha/ME/shetwere about fiveאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandאִישׁishmenמִלְּבַדmil/le/VADbesidesהַנָּשִׁיםhan/na/SHIMwomenוְהַטָּף׃ve/hat/TAFand little ones

    And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

22. 22

    וַיָּאֶץvay/YA/etsand urgedיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusבְּתַלְמִידָיוbe/tal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesלָרֶדֶתla/RE/detto go downבׇּאֳנִיָּהbo/o/niy/YAinto the boatלַעֲבֹרla/a/VORto crossלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himאֶל־עֵבֶרel-E/verto the other sideהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaעַדaduntilאֲשֶׁר־יְשַׁלַּחa/SHER-ye/shal/LACHhe sent awayאֶת־הָעָם׃et-ha/AMthe people

    And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

23. 23

    וַיְשַׁלַּחvay/shal/LACHand he sent awayאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland he went upהָהָרָהha/HA/rato the mountainבָּדָדba/DADapartלְהִתְפַּלֵּלle/hit/pal/LELto prayוַיְהִי־עֶרֶבvay/HI-E/revand it was eveningוְהוּאve/HUand he wasלְבַדּוֹle/vad/DOaloneשָׁמָּה׃SHAM/mathere

    And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

24. 24

    וְהׇאֳנִיָּהve/ho/o/niy/YAand the boatבָאָהva/Acameעַדadtoחֲצִיcha/TSIthe midst ofהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaוְהַגַּלִּיםve/hag/gal/LIMand the wavesיִטְרְפֻהָyit/re/fu/HAwere tossing itכִּיkiforהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe windלְנֶגְדָּהּ׃le/neg/DAwas against it

    But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

25. 25

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּאַשְׁמֹרֶתbe/ash/MO/retin the watchהָרְבִיעִיתha/re/vi/ITfourthוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOcameאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוְהוּאve/HUand he wasמְהַלֵּךְme/hal/LEKHwalkingעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEon the face ofהַיָּם׃hay/YAMthe sea

    And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26. 26

    וְהַתַּלְמִידִיםve/hat/tal/mi/DIMand the disciplesרָאוּra/Usawאוֹתוֹo/TOhimמְהַלֵּךְme/hal/LEKHwalkingעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEon the face ofהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaוַיִּבָּהֲלוּvay/yib/ba/ha/LUand were terrifiedוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidמַרְאֵה־רוּחַmar/E-RU/achan apparitionהוּאhuit isוַיִּצְעֲקוּvay/yits/a/KUand they cried outמִפָּחַד׃mip/PA/chadfor fear

    And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27. 27

    וַיְמַהֵרvay/ma/HERand quicklyיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERspokeאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingחִזְקוּchiz/KUbe strongכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIfor Iהוּאhuam heאַל־תִּירָאוּ׃al-ti/RA/udo not fear

    But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28. 28

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאִם־אַתָּהim-at/TAif youהוּאhuare heאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordצַוֵּה־נָאtsav/VE-nacommand nowוְאָבֹאve/a/VOand I will comeאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youעַל־הַמָּיִם׃al-ham/MA/yimon the water

    And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29. 29

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבּוֹאbocomeוַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redand went downפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterמִן־הׇאֳנִיָּהmin-ho/o/niy/YAout of the shipוַיְהַלֵּךְvay/hal/LEKHand walkedעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEon the face ofהַמַּיִםham/MA/yimthe waterלָבוֹאla/VOto goאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַ׃el-Ye/SHU/ato Jesus

    And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30. 30

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּרְאֹתוֹkir/o/TOwhen he sawאֶת־הָרוּחַet-ha/RU/achthe windכִּיkithatחֲזָקָהcha/za/KAstrongהִיאhiit wasוַיִּירָאvay/yi/RAand he was afraidוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganלִטְבֹּעַlit/BO/ato sinkוַיִּצְעַקvay/yits/AKand cried outוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordהוֹשִׁיעֵנִי׃ho/shi/E/nisave me

    But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

31. 31

    וַיְמַהֵרvay/ma/HERand quicklyיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHstretched outאֶת־יָדוֹet-ya/DOhis handוַיַּחֲזֶק־בּוֹvay/YA/cha/zek-boand took hold of himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himקְטֹןke/TONO small ofאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithמַה־לְּךָma-le/KHAwhat is with youכִּיkithatחָלַקcha/LAKwas dividedלִבֶּךָ׃lib/BE/khayour heart

    And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

32. 32

    הֵםhemtheyעָלוּa/LUwent upאֶל־הׇאֳנִיָּהel-ho/o/niy/YAinto the shipוְהָרוּחַve/ha/RU/achand the windשָׁכָכָה׃sha/KHA/khaceased

    And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

33. 33

    וְאַנְשֵׁיve/an/SHEand the men ofהׇאֳנִיָּהho/o/niy/YAthe boatנִגְּשׁוּnig/ge/SHUcame nearוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ־לוֹvay/yish/ta/cha/VU-loand worshiped himוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֲבָלa/VALtrulyבֶּן־אֱלֹהִיםben-E/lo/HIMthe Son of Godאָתָּה׃AT/tayou are

    Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

34. 34

    וַיַּעַבְרוּvay/ya/av/RUand they crossedאֶת־הַיָּםet-hay/YAMthe seaוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameאַרְצָהAR/tsainto the land ofגִּנֵּיסַר׃Gin/ne/SARGennesaret

    And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.

35. 35

    וַיַּכִּירוּvay/yak/ki/RUand recognizedאֹתוֹo/TOhimאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofהַמָּקוֹםham/ma/KOMthe placeהַהוּאha/HUthatוַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUand they sentאֶל־כׇּל־סְבִיבוֹתֵיהֶםel-kol-se/vi/vo/te/HEMinto all their surroundingsוַיָּבִיאוּvay/ya/VI/uand broughtאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֵת־כׇּל־הַחוֹלִים׃et-kol-ha/cho/LIMall the sick

    And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;

36. 36

    וַיְבַקְשׁוּvay/vak/SHUand they askedמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuhimרַקrakonlyלִנְגֹּעַlin/GO/ato touchבִּכְנַףbikh/NAFthe corner ofבִּגְדוֹbig/DOhis garmentוְכׇל־הַנֹּגְעִיםve/KHOL-han/nog/IMand all who touchedנוֹשָׁעוּ׃no/sha/Uwere saved

    And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
