1. 1

   וַיְהִיTheבַּיּוֹםdayהַהוּאsameוַיֵּצֵאwent outיֵשׁוּעַJesusמִן־הַבָּיִתof the house,וַיֵּשֶׁבand satעַל־הַיָּם׃by the sea side.

   The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

2. 2

   וַיִּקָּהֲלוּAnd were gathered togetherאֵלָיוunto him,הֲמוֹןa multitudeעַםof peopleרָבgreatוַיֵּרֶדso that he wentאֶל־הׇאֳנִיָּהinto a ship,וַיֵּשֶׁבand satבָּהּtherein;וְכׇל־הָעָםand the whole multitudeעֹמְדִיםstoodעַל־שְׂפַתonהַיָּם׃the shore.

   And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

   וַיֶּרֶבAnd he spake many thingsלְדַבֵּרin speakingאֲלֵיהֶםunto themבִּמְשָׁלִיםin parables,לֵאמֹרsaying,הִנֵּהBehold,הַזּוֹרֵעַa sowerיָצָאwent forthלִזְרֹעַ׃to sow;

   And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

   וַיִּזְרַעAnd when he sowed,וַיִּפֹּלfellמִן־הַזֶּרַעsome seedsעַל־יַדbyהַדָּרֶךְthe way side,וַיָּבֹאוּand cameהָעוֹףthe fowlsוַיֹּאכְלֻהוּ׃and devoured them up:

   And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

   וְיֵשׁSomeאֲשֶׁרwhichנָפַלfellעַל־מְקֹםupon the place ofהַסְּלָעִיםthe rocks,אֲשֶׁרwhereאֵיןnotשָׁםthereאֲדָמָהearth:הַרְבֵּהmuchוַיְמַהֵרand forthwithלִצְמֹחַthey sprung up,כִּיbecauseאֵיןthere was noלוֹto itעֹמֶקdeepness ofאֲדָמָה׃earth:

   Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

6. 6

   וַיְהִיAndכִּזְרֹחַwhen was up,הַשֶּׁמֶשׁthe sunוַיִּצָּרֵבthey were scorched;וַיִּיבָשׁthey withered away.כִּיand becauseאֵין־לוֹthey had noשֹׁרֶשׁ׃root,

   And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

7. 7

   וְיֵשׁAnd someאֲשֶׁרwhichנָפַלfellבֵּיןamongהַקֹּצִיםthorns;וַיַּעֲלוּand sprung up,הַקֹּצִיםthe thornsוַיְמַעֲכֻהוּ׃and choked them:

   And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

8. 8

   וְיֵשׁButאֲשֶׁרotherנָפַלfellעַל־הָאֲדָמָהinto ground,הַטּוֹבָהgoodוַיִּתֵּןand brought forthפְּרִיfruit,זֶהsomeמֵאָהan hundredשְׁעָרִיםfold,וְזֶהsomeשִׁשִּׁיםsixtyfold,וְזֶהsomeשְׁלֹשִׁים׃thirtyfold.

   But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

9. 9

   מִיWhoאֲשֶׁרthatלוֹhathאׇזְנַיִםearsלִשְׁמֹעַto hear,יִשְׁמָע׃let him hear.

   Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10. 10

    וַיִּגְּשׁוּAnd came,אֵלָיוunto himהַתַּלְמִידִיםthe disciplesוַיֹּאמְרוּand saidלָמָּהWhyזֶּהthenבִּמְשָׁלִיםin parables?תְּדַבֵּרspeak youאֲלֵיהֶם׃unto them

    And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11. 11

    וַיַּעַןHe answeredוַיֹּאמֶרand said unto them,כִּיBecauseלָכֶםunto youנִתַּןit is givenלָדַעַתto knowאֶת־סוֹדוֹתthe mysteries ofמַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofהַשָׁמָיִםheaven,וְלָהֶםbut to themלֹאnotנִתָּן׃it is given.

    He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

12. 12

    כִּיForמִיwhosoeverשֶׁיֶשׁ־לוֹhath,נָתֹןsurelyיִנָּתֵןshall be givenלוֹto him,וְיַעֲדִיףand he shall have more abundance:וּמִיbut whosoeverשֶׁאֵיןhath not,לוֹto him,גַםevenמָה־שֶׁיֵּשׁ־לוֹthat which he hathיִנָּטֵלshall be taken awayמִמֶּנּוּ׃from him.

    For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

13. 13

    עַל־כֵּןThereforeבִּמְשָׁלִיםin parables:אֲדַבֵּרspeak Iאֲלֵיהֶםto themכִּיbecauseבִרְאֹתָםthey seeingלֹאnot;יִרְאוּseeוּבְשָׁמְעָםand hearingלֹאnot,יִשְׁמְעוּthey hearאַף־לֹאneither doיָבִינוּ׃they understand.

    Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

14. 14

    וּתְקֻיַּםAnd is fulfilledבָּהֶםin themנְבוּאַתthe prophecy ofיְשַׁעְיָהוּEsaias,הָאֹמֶרֶתwhich saith,שָׁמוֹעַBy hearingתִּשְׁמְעוּyou shall hear,וְלֹאand notתָבִינוּshall understand;וְרָאוֹand seeingתִּרְאוּyou shall see,וְלֹאand notתֵדָעוּ׃shall perceive:

    And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

15. 15

    כִּיForשָׁמֵןis waxed gross,לֵב־הָעָםthe heart of peopleהַזֶּהthis,וְאׇזְנָיוand their earsכָּבְדוּare dull of hearing,וְעֵינָיוand their eyesהֵשַׁעthey have closed;פֶּן־יִרְאֶהlest at any time they should seeבְעֵינָיוwith their eyes,וּבְאׇזְנָיוand with their earsיִשְׁמַעshould hear,וּלְבָבוֹand with their heartיָבִיןshould understand,וָשָׁבand should be converted,וּרְפָאתִיand I should healלוֹ׃them.

    For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

16. 16

    וְאַתֶּםButאַשְׁרֵיblessed areעֵינֵיכֶםyour eyes,כִּיforתִרְאֶינָהthey see:וְאׇזְנֵיכֶםand your ears,כִּיforתִשְׁמַעְנָה׃they hear.

    But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

17. 17

    כִּי־אָמֵןFor verilyאֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIלָכֶםunto you,נְבִיאִיםThat prophetsוְצַדִּיקִיםand righteous menרַבִּיםmanyנִכְסְפוּhave desiredלִרְאֹתto seeאֵת־אֲשֶׁרthose things whichאַתֶּםyouרֹאִיםsee,וְלֹאand have notרָאוּseen them;וְלִשְׁמֹעַand to hearאֵת־אֲשֶׁרthose things whichאַתֶּםyouשֹׁמְעִיםhear,וְלֹאand have notשָׁמֵעוּ׃heard them.

    For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

18. 18

    לָכֵןThereforeאַתֶּםyou,שִׁמְעוּ־נָאhearאֵת־מְשַׁלthe parable ofהַזּוֹרֵעַ׃the sower.

    Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

19. 19

    כׇּל־אִישׁWhen any oneשֹׁמֵעַhearethאֶת־דְּבַרthe word ofהַמַּלְכוּתthe kingdom,וְלֹאandיְבִינֵהוּunderstandeth it not,וּבָאthen comethהָרָעthe wicked one,וְחָטַףand catcheth awayאֶת־הַזָּרוּעַthat which was sownבִּלְבָבוֹin his heart.הוּאThis is heהַנִּזְרָעwhich received seedעַל־יַדbyהַדָּרֶךְ׃the way side.

    When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

20. 20

    וְהַנִּזְרָעBut he that received the seedעַל־מְקוֹםintoהַסְּלָעִיםstony places,הוּאthe sameהַשֹׁמֵעַis he that hearethאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe word,וּמִיָּדand anonיִקָּחֶנּוּreceiveth itבְשִׂמְחָה׃with joy;

    But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

21. 21

    וְלוֹYet hath heאֵיןnotשֹׁרֶשׁrootתַּחְתָּיוin himself,וְיָקוּםbut durethרַקforלְשָׁעָהa while:וּבִהְיוֹתfor whenצָרָהtribulationוּרְדִיפָהor persecutionבִּגְלַלariseth because ofהַדָּבָרthe word,יִכָּשֵׁלhe is offendedכְּרָגַע׃in a moment.

    Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

22. 22

    וְהַנִּזְרָעHe also that received seedאֶל־הַקֹּצִיםamong the thornsהוּאthe same,הַשֹׁמֵעַis he that hearethאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe word;וְדַאֲגַתand the care ofהָעוֹלָםworld,הַזֶּהthisוְנִכְלֵיand the deceitfulness ofהָעֹשֶׁרriches,יְמַעֲכוּchokeאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe word,וּפְרִיand fruitלֹא־יִהְיֶהshall not beלּוֹ׃to him.

    He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

23. 23

    וְהַנִּזְרָעBut he that received seedעַל־הָאֲדָמָהinto groundהַטּוֹבָהthe goodהוּאthe same,הַשֹׁמֵעַis he that hearethאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe word,וּמֵבִיןand understandethאֹתוֹit;אַף־יַעֲשֶׂהwhich also bearethפֶרִיfruit,וְנָתַןand bringeth forth,זֶהsomeמֵאָהan hundredשְׁעָרִיםfold,וְזֶהsomeשִׁשִּׁיםsixty,וְזֶהsomeשְׁלֹשִׁים׃thirty.

    But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

24. 24

    וַיָּשֶׂםput heלִפְנֵיהֶםforth unto them,מָשָׁלparableאַחֵרAnotherוַיֹּאמַרsaying,מַלְכוּתThe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמַיִםheavenדּוֹמָהis likenedלְאָדָםunto a manאֲשֶׁרwhichזָרַעsowedזֶרַעseedטוֹבgoodבְּשָׂדֵהוּ׃in his field:

    Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25. 25

    וַיְהִיButבִּהְיוֹתwhileהָאֲנָשִׁיםmenיְשֵׁנִיםslept,וַיָּבֹאcameאֹיְבוֹhis enemyוַיִּזְרַעand sowedזוּנִיןtaresבֵּיןamongהַחִטִּיםthe wheat,וַיֵּלֶךְand wentלוֹ׃his way.

    But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

26. 26

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרBut whenפָּרַחwas sprung up,הַדֶּשֶׁאthe bladeוַיַּעַשׂand brought forthפְּרִיfruit,וַיֵּרָאוּthen appearedגַּם־הַזּוּנִין׃the tares also.

    But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

27. 27

    וַיִּגְּשׁוּSo cameעַבְדֵיthe servants ofבַעַל־הַבַּיִתthe householderוַיֹּאמְרוּand saidאֵלָיוunto him,אֲדֹנֵינוּSir,הֲלֹא־זֶרַעdidst not seedטוֹבgoodזָרַעְתָּyou sowבְשָׂדֶךָin your field?וּמֵאַיִןfrom whence then hathלוֹitהַזּוּנִין׃tares?

    So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

28. 28

    וַיֹּאמֶרHe saidלָהֶםunto them,אִישׁA man,אֹיֵבan enemy,עָשָׂהhath doneזֹאתthis.וַיֹּאמְרוּsaidאֵלָיוunto him,הָעֲבָדִיםThe servantsהֲתַחְפֹּץWill you thenכִּי־נֵלֵךְthat we goוּנְלַקֵּטand gather upאֹתָם׃them?

    He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

29. 29

    וַיֹּאמֶרBut he said,לֹאNay;פֶּן־תְּלַקְּטוּlest while you gather upאֶת־הַזּוּנִיןthe tares,וְשֵׁרַשְׁתֶּםyou root upגַּםalsoאֶת־הַחִטִּים׃the wheat with them.

    But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

30. 30

    הַנִּיחוּLetאֹתָםthemוְיִגְדְּלוּgrowשְׁנֵיהֶםbothיַחַדtogetherעַד־הַקָּצִירuntil the harvest:וְהָיָהandבְּעֵתin the time ofהַקָּצִירharvestוְאָמַרְתִּיI will sayלַקּוֹצְרִיםto the reapers,לַקְּטוּGather you togetherבָרִאשׁוֹנָהfirstאֶת־הַזּוּנִיןthe tares,וְאִגְדוּand bindאֹתָםthemאֲגֻדּוֹתin bundlesלְשָׂרְפָםto burn them:וְאֵתbutהַחִטִּיםthe wheatאִסְפוּgatherלְאוֹצָרִי׃into my barn.

    Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

31. 31

    וַיָּשֶׂםput heלִפְנֵיהֶםforth unto them,מָשָׁלparableאַחֵרAnotherוַיֹּאמַרsaying,מַלְכוּתThe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמַיִםheavenדּוֹמָהis like toלְגַרְגַּרa grain ofשֶׁל־חַרְדָּלmustard seed,אֲשֶׁרwhichלְקָחוֹtook,אִישׁa manוַיִּזְרַעand sowedבְּשָׂדֵהוּ׃in his field:

    Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:

32. 32

    וְהוּאWhichקָטֹןindeed is the leastמִכׇּל־הַזֵּרוֹעִיםof all seeds:וְכַאֲשֶׁרbut whenצָמַחit is grown,גָּדוֹלis the greatestהוּאitמִן־הַיְרָקוֹתamong herbs,וְהָיָהand becomethלְעֵץa tree,עַד־אֲשֶׁרso thatיָבֹאוּcomeעוֹףthe birds ofהַשָּׁמַיִםthe airוְקִנְּנוּand lodgeבַּעֲנָפָיו׃in the branches thereof.

    Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

33. 33

    וַיִּשָּׂאspake heעוֹדAnotherמְשָׁלוֹparableוַיֹּאמֶרsaying,אֲלֵיהֶםunto them;מַלְכוּתThe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמַיִםheavenדּוֹמָהis like untoלִשְׂאֹרleaven,אֲשֶׁרwhichלְקָחַתּוּtook,אִשָּׁהa womanוַתִּטְמֹןand hidבִּשְׁלשׁin threeסְאִיםmeasuresקֶמַחof meal,עַדtillכִּי־יֶחְמַץwas leavened.כֻּלּוֹ׃the whole

    Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

34. 34

    כׇּל־אֵלֶּהAll these thingsדִּבֶּרspakeיֵשׁוּעַJesusבִּמְשָׁלִיםin parables;אֶל־הֲמוֹןunto the multitudeהָעָםof the people,וּבִבְלִיand withoutמָשָׁלa parableלֹאnotדִבֶּרspake heאֲלֵיהֶםunto themדָּבָר׃a word:

    All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:

35. 35

    לְמַלֹּאתThat it might be fulfilledאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhichדִּבֶּרwas spokenהַנָּבִיאby the prophet,לֵאמֹרsaying,אֶפְתְּחָהI will openבְּמָשָׁלin parables;פִּיmy mouthאַבִּיעָהI will utterחִידוֹתthings which have been kept secretמִנִּי־קֶדֶם׃from the foundation of the world.

    That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

36. 36

    אָזThenשִׁלַּחsent away,יֵשׁוּעַJesusאֶת־הֲמוֹןthe multitudeהָעָםof the people,וַיָּבֹאand wentהַבָּיְתָהinto the house:וַיִּגְּשׁוּand cameאֵלָיוunto him,תַּלְמִידָיוhis disciplesוַיֹּאמְרוּsaying,בָּאֶר־נָאDeclareלָנוּunto usאֶת־מְשַׁלthe parable ofזוּנֵיthe tares ofהַשָּׂדֶה׃the field.

    Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

37. 37

    וַיַּעַןHe answeredוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,הַזּוֹרֵעַHe that sowethאֶת־הַזֶּרַעseedהַטּוֹבthe goodהוּאisבֶּן־הָאָדָם׃the Son of man;

    He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

38. 38

    וְהַשָּׂדֶהThe fieldהוּאisהָעוֹלָםthe world;וְהַזֶּרַעthe seedהַטּוֹבgoodבְּנֵיare the children ofהַמַּלְכוּתthe kingdom;הֵםthey;וְהַזּוּנִיןbut the taresבְּנֵיare the children ofהָרַעthe wicked one;הֵמָּה׃they;

    The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

39. 39

    וְהָאֹיֵבThe enemyאֲשֶׁרthatזְרָעָםsowed themהוּאisהַשָּׂטָןthe devil;וְהַקָּצִירthe harvestהוּאisקֵץthe end ofהָעוֹלָםthe world;וְהַקֹּצְרִיםand the reapersהֵםareהַמַּלְאָכִים׃the angels.

    The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

40. 40

    וְהִנֵּהthereforeכַּאֲשֶׁרAsיְלֻקְּטוּare gatheredהַזּוּנִיןthe taresוְנִשְׂרְפוּand burnedבָאֵשׁin the fire;כֵּןsoיִהְיֶהshall it beלְקֵץin the end ofהָעוֹלָםworld.הַזֶּה׃this

    As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

41. 41

    בֶּן־הָאָדָםThe Son of manיִשְׁלַחshall send forthאֶת־מַלְאָכָיוhis angels,וְלִקְּטוּand they shall gatherמִמַּלְכוּתוֹout of his kingdomאֵת־כׇּל־הַמַּכְשֵׁלוֹתall things that offend,וְאֵת־כׇּל־פֹּעֲלֵיand them which doהָאָוֶן׃iniquity;

    The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

42. 42

    וְהִשְׁלִיכוּAnd shall castאֹתָםthemאֶל־תַּנּוּרinto a furnace ofהָאֵשׁfire:שָׁםthereתִּהְיֶהshall beהַיְלָלָהwailingוַחֲרֹקand gnashing ofהַשִׁנָּיִם׃teeth.

    And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

43. 43

    אָזThenיַזְהִירוּshall shine forthהַצַּדִּיקִיםthe righteousכַּשֶׁמֶשׁas the sunבְּמַלְכוּתin the kingdom ofאֲבִיהֶםtheir Father.מִיWhoאֲשֶׁרthatלוֹhathאׇזְנַיִםearsלִשְׁמֹעַto hear,יִשְׁמָע׃let him hear.

    Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

44. 44

    עוֹדAgain,דּוֹמָהis like untoמַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמַיִםheavenלְאוֹצָרtreasureטָמוּןhidבַּשָּׂדֶהin a field;אֲשֶׁרthe whichמְצָאוֹwhen hath found,אִישׁa manוַיִּטְמְנֵהוּhe hideth,וּבְשִׂמְחָתוֹand for joy thereofיֵלֵךְgoethוּמָכַרand sellethאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹall that he hath,וְקָנָהand buyethאֶת־הַשָּׂדֶהfield.הַהוּא׃that

    Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

45. 45

    עוֹדAgain,דּוֹמָהis like untoמַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofהַשָׁמָיִםheavenלְאִישׁaסֹחֵרmerchant man,הַמְבַקֵּשׁseekingמַרְגָּלִיּוֹתpearls:טֹבוֹת׃goodly

    Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

46. 46

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרWho, whenמָצָאhe had foundמַרְגָּלִיתpearlאַחַתoneיְקָרָהof greatמְאֹדprice,הָלַךְwentוַיִּמְכֹּרand soldאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹall that he had,וַיִּקֶןand boughtאֹתָהּ׃it.

    Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

47. 47

    עוֹדAgain,דּוֹמָהis like untoמַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמַיִםheavenלְמִכְמֶרֶתa net,אֲשֶׁרthatהָשְׁלְכָהwas castלַיָּםinto the sea,וּמִינִיםand kindsשׁוֹנִיםdiversיֵאָסְפוּgatheredלְתוֹכָהּ׃into it.

    Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

48. 48

    וְכַאֲשֶׁרWhich, whenנִמְלְאָהit was full,הֶעֱלוּthey drewאֹתָהּitאֶל־שְׂפַתtoהַיָּםshore,וַיֵּשְׁבוּand sat down,וַיִּלְקְטוּand gatheredאֶת־הַמִּינִיםthe kinds,הַטּוֹבִיםthe goodלְתוֹךְintoהַכֵּלִיםvessels,וְאֵתbutהָרָעִיםthe badהִשְׁלִיכוּ׃cast away.

    Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

49. 49

    כֵּןSoיִהְיֶהshall it beלְקֵץat the end ofהָעוֹלָםthe world:הַמַּלְאָכִיםthe angelsיֵצְאוּshall come forth,וְהִבְדִּילוּand severאֶת־הָרְשָׁעִיםthe wickedמִתּוֹךְfrom amongהַצַּדִּיקִים׃the just,

    So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

50. 50

    וְהִשְׁלִיכוּםAnd shall cast themאֶל־תַּנּוּרinto the furnace ofהָאֵשׁfire:שָׁםthereתִּהְיֶהshall beהַיְלָלָהwailingוַחֲרֹקand gnashing ofהַשִׁנָּיִם׃teeth.

    And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

51. 51

    וַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,יֵשׁוּעַJesusהֲתָבִינוּHave you understoodאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהall these things?וַיֹּאמְרוּThey sayאֵלָיוunto him,הֵןYea,אֲדֹנֵינוּ׃Lord.

    Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.

52. 52

    וַיֹּאמֶרThen said heאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,עַל־כֵּןThereforeכׇּל־סוֹפֵרevery scribeמְלֻמָּדwhich is instructedלְמַלְכוּתunto the kingdom ofהַשָּׁמַיִםheavenדּוֹמֶהis like untoלְאִישׁa manבַּעַל־בַּיִתthat is an householder,הַמּוֹצִיאwhich bringeth forthמֵאוֹצָרוֹout of his treasureחֲדָשׁוֹתthings newוְגַםandיְשָׁנוֹת׃old.

    Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

53. 53

    וַיְהִיAnd it came to pass,כְּכַלּוֹתthat when had finishedיֵשׁוּעַJesusלְדַבֵּרto speakאֶת־הַמְּשָׁלִיםthe parables,הָאֵלֶּהtheseוַיַּעֲבֹרhe departedמִשָּׁם׃thence.

    And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.

54. 54

    וַיָּבֹאAnd when he was comeאֶל־אַרְצוֹinto his own country,וַיְלַמֵּדhe taughtאֹתָםthemבְּבֵיתinהַכְּנֵסֶתsynagogue,שֶׁלָּהֶםtheirוַיִּשְׁתּוֹמֲמוּinsomuch that they were astonished,וַיֹּאמְרוּand said,מֵאַיִןWhenceלָזֶהhath this manהַחׇכְמָהwisdom,הַזֹּאתthisוְהַגְּבוּרוֹת׃and these mighty works?

    And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

55. 55

    הֲלֹאIs notזֶהthisהוּאheבֶּן־הֶחָרָשׁthe carpenter's son?הֲלֹאis notשֵׁםcalledאִמּוֹhis motherמִרְיָםMary?וְאֶחָיוand his brethren,יַעֲקֹבJames,וְיוֹסֵיand Joses,וְשִׁמְעוֹןand Simon,וִיהוּדָה׃and Judas?

    Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

56. 56

    וְאַחְיוֹתָיוAnd his sisters,הֲלֹאare they notכֻלָּןallאִתָּנוּwith us?הֵןindeed?וּמֵאַיִןWhenceאֵיפוֹאthenלוֹhath this manכׇּל־אֵלֶּה׃all these things?

    And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

57. 57

    וַיְהִיAndלָהֶםtheyלְמִכְשׁוֹלwere offended in him.וַיֹּאמֶרBut saidיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,אֵיןis notהַנָּבִיאA prophetנִקְלֶהwithout honor,אִם־לֹאsaveבְּאַרְצוֹin his own country,וּבְבֵיתוֹ׃and in his own house.

    And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

58. 58

    וְלֹא־עָשָׂהAnd he did notשָׁםthereגְּבוּרוֹתmighty worksרַבּוֹתmanyמִפְּנֵיbecause ofחֹסֶרthe lack ofאֱמוּנָתָם׃their faith.

    And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
