   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּכַלּוֹתke/khal/LOTwhen finishedיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusלְצַוֹּתle/tsav/VOTcommandingאֶת־שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרet-she/NEM-a/SARthe twelveתַּלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereלְלַמֵּדle/lam/MEDto teachוְלִקְרֹאve/lik/ROand to proclaimבְּעָרֵיהֶם׃be/a/re/HEMin their cities

   And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

   וְיוֹחָנָןve/Yo/cha/NANand Johnשָׁמַעsha/MAheardבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofהַסֹּהַרhas/SO/harthe prisonאֶת־מַעֲשֵׂיet-ma/a/SEthe works ofהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he sentשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimtwoמִתַּלְמִידָיו׃mit/tal/mi/DAYVof his disciples

   Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהַאַתָּהha/at/TAare youהוּאhuthe oneהַבָּאhab/BAwho is comingאִם־נְחַכֶּהim-ne/chak/KEor shall we waitלְאַחֵר׃le/a/CHERfor another

   And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themלְכוּle/KHUgoהַגִּידוּhag/GI/dutellלְיוֹחָנָןLe/yo/cha/NANJohnאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatשְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou have heardוְאֶת־אֲשֶׁרve/ET-a/SHERand whatרְאִיתֶם׃re/i/TEMyou have seen

   Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:

   עִוְרִיםiv/RIMthe blindרֹאִיםro/IMseeוּפִסְחִיםu/fis/CHIMand the lameמְהַלְּכִיםme/hal/le/KHIMwalkמְצֹרָעִיםme/tso/ra/IMthe lepersמְטֹהָרִיםme/to/ha/RIMare cleansedוְחֵרְשִׁיםve/cher/SHIMand the deafשׁוֹמְעִיםshom/IMhearוּמֵתִיםu/me/TIMthe deadקָמִיםka/MIMriseוַעֲנִיִּיםva/a/niy/YIMand the poorמִתְבַּשְּׂרִים׃mit/bas/se/RIMhave the gospel preached

   The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

   וְאַשְׁרֵיve/ash/REand blessed isהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־יִכָּשֵׁלlo-yik/ka/SHELdoes not stumbleבִּי׃biin me

   And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

   הֵמָּהHEM/matheyהָלְכוּha/le/KHUwere goingוְיֵשׁוּעַve/Ye/SHU/aand Jesusהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto sayאֶל־הֲמוֹןel-ha/MONto the crowd ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleעַל־אֹדוֹתal-o/DOTconcerningיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidמַה־זֶּהma-zewhatיְצָאתֶםye/tsa/TEMdid you go outהַמִּדְבָּרָהham/mid/BA/rainto the wildernessלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeהֲקָנֶהha/ka/NEa reedאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיִנּוֹעַyin/NO/aswaysבָּרוּחַ׃ba/RU/achwith the wind

   And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

   אוֹoorמַה־זֶּהma-zewhatיְצָאתֶםye/tsa/TEMdid you go outלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeהַאִישׁha/ISHa manלָבוּשׁla/VUSHclothed inבִּגְדֵיbig/DEgarments ofעֲדָנִיםa/da/NIMluxuryהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַלֹּבְשִׁיםhal/lov/SHIMthose who wearעֲדָנִיםa/da/NIMluxuryבְּבָתֵּיbe/vat/TEin the houses ofהַמְּלָכִיםham/me/la/KHIMthe kingsהֵמָּה׃HEM/maare

   But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowמַה־זֶּהma-zewhatיְצָאתֶםye/tsa/TEMdid you go outלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeאִםimifלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeאִישׁisha manנָבִיאna/VIa prophetאָכֵןa/KHENindeedאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאַף־גָּדוֹלaf-ga/DOLeven greaterהוּאhuis heמִנָּבִיא׃min/na/VIthan a prophet

   But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

    כִּיkiforזֶּהzethisהוּאhuis heאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomכָּתוּבka/TUVit is writtenעָלָיוa/LAYVabout himהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iשֹׁלֵחַsho/LE/acham sendingמַלְאָכִיmal/a/KHIMy messengerלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youוּפִנָּהu/fin/NAand he will clearדַּרְכְּךָdar/ke/KHAyour wayלְפָנֶיךָ׃le/fa/NE/khabefore you

    For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

    אָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלֹאlonotקָםkamhas arisenבִּילוּדֵיbi/lu/DEamong those born ofאִשָּׁהish/SHAwomenגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreaterמִיּוֹחָנָןmiy/Yo/cha/NANthan Johnהַמַּטְבִּילham/Mat/BILthe Baptistוְהַקָּטֹןve/hak/ka/TONbut the leastבְּמַלְכוּתbe/mal/KHUTin the kingdom ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimheavenיִגְדַּלyig/DALis greaterמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nuthan he

    Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

    וּמִימֵיu/MI/meand from the days ofיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnהַמַּטְבִּילham/Mat/BILthe Baptistוְעַד־הֵנָּהve/AD-HEN/nauntil nowמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimheavenנִתְפְּשָׂהnit/pe/SAis seizedבְיָדve/YADby a handחֲזָקָהcha/za/KAstrongוְהַמִּתְחַזְּקִיםve/ham/mit/chaz/ze/KIMand the forcefulיַחְטְפוּהָ׃yach/te/fu/HAsnatch it

    And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

13. 13

    כִּיkiforכׇל־הַנְּבִיאִיםkhol-han/ne/vi/IMall the prophetsוְהַתּוֹרָהve/hat/to/RAand the lawעַד־יוֹחָנָןad-Yo/cha/NANuntil Johnנִבָּאוּ׃nib/BA/uprophesied

    For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

14. 14

    וְאִם־תִּרְצוּve/IM-tir/TSUand if you are willingלְקַבֵּלle/kab/BELto receiveהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהוּאhuhe isאֵלִיָּסE/liy/YASEliasהֶעָתִידhe/a/TIDwho was goingלָבוֹא׃la/VOto come

    And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

15. 15

    מִיmiwhoeverאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאׇזְנַיִםoz/NA/yimearsלוֹlohasלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato hearיִשְׁמָע׃yish/MAlet him hear

    He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

16. 16

    וְאֶל־מִיve/EL-miand to whatאֲדַמֶּהa/dam/MEshall I likenאֶת־הַדּוֹרet-had/DORgenerationהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisדּוֹמֶהdo/MElikeהוּאhuit isלַיְלָדִיםlay/la/DIMto childrenהַיֹּשְׁבִיםhay/yosh/VIMwho sitבַּשְּׁוָקִיםbash/she/va/KIMin the marketsוְקֹרְאִיםve/kor/IMand callלְחַבְרֵיהֶםle/chav/re/HEMto their companionsלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,

17. 17

    חִלַּלְנוּchil/lal/NUwe pipedלָכֶםla/KHEMto youבַּחֲלִילִיםba/cha/li/LIMwith pipesוְלֹאve/LOand notרִקַּדְתֶּםrik/kad/TEMdid you danceקוֹנַנּוּko/nan/NUwe chantedלָכֶםla/KHEMto youקִינָהki/NAa dirgeוְלֹאve/LOand notסְפַדְתֶּם׃se/fad/TEMdid you mourn

    And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.

18. 18

    כִּי־בָא־יוֹחָנָןki-va-Yo/cha/NANfor John cameוְהוּאve/HUand he wasלֹאlonotאֹכֵלo/KHELeatingוְלֹאve/LOand notשֹׁתֶהsho/TEdrinkingוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidשֵׁדsheda demon isבּוֹ׃boin him

    For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.

19. 19

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameבֶן־הָאָדָםven-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of manאֹכֵלo/KHELeatingוְשֹׁתֶהve/sho/TEand drinkingוְהֵםve/HEMand theyאֹמְרִיםom/RIMsayהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאִישׁisha manזוֹלֵלzo/LELa gluttonוְסֹבֵאve/so/VEand a drunkardוְאֹהֵבve/o/HEVa friend ofמוֹכְסִיםmokh/SIMtax collectorsוְחַטָּאִיםve/chat/ta/IMand sinnersוְנִצְדְּקָהve/nits/de/KAand is justifiedהַחׇכְמָהha/chokh/MAwisdomבְּבָנֶיהָ׃be/va/NE/haby her children

    The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

20. 20

    אָזazthenהֵחֵלhe/CHELbeganלְהוֹכִיחַle/ho/KHI/achto rebukeהֶעָרִיםhe/a/RIMthe citiesאֲשֶׁר־רֹבa/SHER-rovwhere mostגְּבוּרוֹתָיוge/vu/ro/TAYVhis mighty worksנַעֲשׂוּna/a/SUwere doneבְתוֹכָןve/to/KHANin themוְלֹאve/LOand notשָׁבוּ׃SHA/vudid they repent

    Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

21. 21

    אוֹיoywoeלָךְlakhto youכּוֹרָזִיןKo/ra/ZINChorazinאוֹיoywoeלָךְlakhto youבֵּית־צַיְדָהBet-tsay/DABethsaidaכִּיkiforהַגְּבוּרוֹתhag/ge/vu/ROTthe mighty worksאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנַעֲשׂוּna/a/SUwere doneבְקִרְבְּכֶןve/kir/be/KHENin youלוּluifבְּצוֹרbe/TSORin Tyreוּבְצִידוֹןu/ve/Tsi/DONand in Sidonנַעֲשׂוּna/a/SUhad been doneהֲלֹא־כְבָרha/LO-khe/VARwould not long agoשָׁבוּSHA/vuhave repentedבְּשַׂקbe/SAKin sackclothוָאֵפֶר׃va/E/ferand ashes

    Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

22. 22

    אֲבָלa/VALbutאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofהַדִּיןhad/DINjudgmentיֵקַלye/KALit will be lighterלְצוֹרle/TSORfor Tyreוְצִידוֹןve/Tsi/DONand Sidonמִכֶּם׃mik/KEMthan for you

    But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

23. 23

    וְאַתְּve/ATTand youכְּפַר־נַחוּםKe/FAR-na/CHUMCapernaumהַמְרוֹמָמָהham/ro/ma/MAwho are exaltedעַד־הַשָּׁמַיִםad-hash/sha/MA/yimto heavenעַד־שְׁאוֹלad-She/OLto Sheolתּוּרָדִיtu/ra/DIyou will be brought downכִּיkiforהַגְּבוּרוֹתhag/ge/vu/ROTthe mighty worksאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנַעֲשׂוּna/a/SUhave been doneבְתוֹכֵךְve/to/KHEKHin youלוּluifבִסְדוֹםVis/DOMin Sodomנַעֲשׂוּna/a/SUhad been doneכִּיkiforעַתָּהat/TAnowעָמְדָהa/me/DAit would standעַל־תִּלָּהּal-til/LAon its moundעַד־הַיּוֹםad-hay/YOMto the dayהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

24. 24

    אֲבָלa/VALbutאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofהַדִּיןhad/DINjudgmentיֵקַלye/KALit will be lighterלְאַדְמַתle/ad/MATfor the land ofסְדוֹםSe/DOMSodomמִמֵּךְ׃mim/MEKHthan for you

    But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

25. 25

    בָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatעָנָהa/NAansweredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוְאָמַרve/a/MARand saidאוֹדְךָod/KHAI thank YouאָבִיA/VImy Fatherאֲדוֹןa/DONLord ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimheavenוְהָאָרֶץve/ha/A/retsand earthכִּיkibecauseהִסְתַּרְתָּhis/TAR/taYou have hiddenאֶת־אֵלֶּהet-EL/lethese thingsמִן־הַחֲכָמִיםmin-ha/cha/kha/MIMfrom the wiseוְהַנְּבוֹנִיםve/han/ne/vo/NIMand the discerningוְגִלִּיתָםve/gil/li/TAMand revealed themלָעוֹלֲלִים׃la/o/la/LIMto infants

    At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

26. 26

    הֵןhenyesאָבִיA/VImy Fatherכִּיkiforכֵןkhensoהָיָהha/YAwasרָצוֹןra/TSONpleasingלְפָנֶיךָ׃le/fa/NE/khain Your sight

    Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

27. 27

    הַכֹּלhak/KOLallנִמְסַר־לִיnim/SAR-liis delivered to meמֵאֵתme/ETfromאָבִיA/VImy Fatherוְאֵיןve/ENand no oneמַכִּירmak/KIRknowsאֶת־הַבֵּןet-Hab/BENthe Sonבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptהָאָבha/AVthe Fatherוְאֵיןve/ENand no oneמַכִּירmak/KIRknowsאֶת־הָאָבet-Ha/AVthe Fatherבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptהַבֵּןhab/BENthe Sonוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whomיַחְפֹּץyach/POTSdesiresהַבֵּןhab/BENthe Sonלְגַלּוֹתle/gal/LOTrevealלוֹ׃loto him

    All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

28. 28

    בֹּאוּBO/ucomeאֵלַיe/LAYto meכׇּל־הָעֲמֵלִיםkol-ha/a/me/LIMall who laborוְהַטְּעוּנִיםve/hat/te/u/NIMand are burdenedוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאָנִיחַa/NI/achwill give restלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

    Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29. 29

    קַבְּלוּkab/be/LUtakeעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMon youאֶת־עֻלִּיet-ul/LImy yokeוְלִמְדוּve/lim/DUand learnמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifrom meכִּי־עָנָוki-a/NAVfor humbleוּשְׁפַלu/she/FALand low ofלֵבlevheartאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIam Iוּמִצְאוּu/mits/Uand findמַרְגּוֹעַmar/GO/arestלְנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם׃le/naf/sho/te/KHEMfor your souls

    Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30. 30

    כִּיkiforעֻלִּיul/LImy yokeנָעִיםna/IMis pleasantוְקַלve/KALand light isמַשָּׂאִי׃mas/sa/Imy burden

    For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
