   Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

   These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

   But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

   וּבְלֶכְתְּכֶםu/ve/lekh/te/KHEMand as you goקִרְאוּkir/Uproclaimלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimheavenקׇרְבָהkor/VAhas drawn nearלָבוֹא׃la/VOto come

   And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

   רִפְאוּrif/Uhealאֵת־הַחוֹלִיםet-ha/cho/LIMthe sickטַהֲרוּta/ha/RUcleanseאֵת־הַמְּצֹרָעִיםet-ham/me/tso/ra/IMthe lepersהָקִימוּha/KI/muraise upאֵת־הַמֵּתִיםet-ham/me/TIMthe deadוְאֵת־הַשֵּׁדִיםve/ET-hash/she/DIMand the demonsגָּרֵשׁוּga/re/SHUdrive outחִנָּםchin/NAMfreelyלְקַחְתֶּםle/kach/TEMyou receivedחִנָּםchin/NAMfreelyתִּתֵּנוּ׃tit/TE/nugive

   Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

   לֹא־תִקְחוּlo-tik/CHUdo not takeזָהָבza/HAVgoldוְלֹאve/LOnorכֶסֶףKHE/sefsilverוְלֹאve/LOnorנְחֹשֶׁתne/CHO/shetbronzeבַּחֲגוֹרֵיכֶם׃ba/cha/go/re/KHEMin your belts

   Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

    וְלֹאve/LOnorתַרְמִילtar/MILa bagלַדֶּרֶךְlad/DE/rekhfor the wayוְלֹאve/LOnorשְׁתֵּיshtetwoכֻתָּנוֹתkhut/ta/NOTtunicsוְלֹאve/LOnorנַעֲלַיִםna/a/LA/yimsandalsוְלֹאve/LOnorמַטֶּהmat/TEa staffכִּי־רָאוּיki-ra/UYfor worthy isלַפֹּעֵלlap/po/ELthe workerדֵּיdeof enough forמִחְיָתוֹ׃mich/ya/TOhis living

    Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

    וְכׇל־עִירve/KHOL-irand any cityוּכְפָרu/khe/FARor villageאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatתָּבֹאוּta/VO/uyou enterשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereדִּרְשׁוּdir/SHUinquireמִיmiwhoהוּאhuisהָגוּןha/GUNworthyלָזֶהla/ZEof thisבְּתוֹכָהּbe/to/KHAin itוְשָׁםve/SHAMand thereשְׁבוּshe/VUstayעַדaduntilצֵאתְכֶם׃tse/te/KHEMyou go out

    And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

12. 12

    וּבְבוֹאֲכֶםu/ve/vo/a/KHEMand when you enterאֶל־הַבָּיִתel-hab/BA/yitthe houseשַׁאֲלוּ־לוֹsha/a/LU-loask for itלְשָׁלוֹם׃le/sha/LOMpeace

    And when ye come into an house, salute it.

13. 13

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beאִם־הָגוּןim-ha/GUNif is worthyהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseיָבוֹאya/VOlet comeעָלָיוa/LAYVon itשְׁלוֹמְכֶםshe/lom/KHEMyour peaceוְאִם־אֵינֶנּוּve/IM-e/NEN/nubut if it is notהָגוּןha/GUNworthyשְׁלוֹמְכֶםshe/lom/KHEMyour peaceאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youיָשׁוּב׃ya/SHUVlet return

    And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

14. 14

    וְכֹלve/KHOLand anyoneאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־יְקַבֵּלlo-ye/kab/BELshall not receiveאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוְלֹאve/LOnorיִשְׁמַעyish/MAlistenלְדִבְרֵיכֶםle/div/re/KHEMyour wordsוִיצָאתֶםvi/tsa/TEMand you go outמִן־הַבַּיִתmin-hab/BA/yitfrom the houseהַהוּאha/HUthatוּמִן־הָעִירu/MIN-ha/IRor from the cityהַהִיאha/HIthatוּנְעַרְתֶּםu/ne/ar/TEMshake offאֶת־עֲפַרet-a/FARthe dustרַגְלֵיכֶם׃rag/le/KHEMyour feet

    And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

15. 15

    אָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatיֵקַלye/KALit will be lighterלְאֶרֶץ־סְדוֹםle/E/rets-se/DOMfor the land of Sodomוַעֲמֹרָהva/A/mo/RAand Gomorrahבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofהַדִּיןhad/DINjudgmentמִן־הָעִירmin-ha/IRthan for the cityהַהִיא׃ha/HIthat

    Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

16. 16

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIשֹׁלֵחַsho/LE/acham sendingאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouכִּשְׁלֹחַkish/LO/achas sendingכְּבָשִׂיםke/va/SIMsheepבֵּיןbenamongזְאֵבִיםze/e/VIMwolvesלָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהֱיוּhe/YUbeעֲרוּמִיםa/ru/MIMshrewdכַּנְּחָשִׁיםkan/ne/cha/SHIMas serpentsוּתְמִימִיםu/te/mi/MIMand innocentכַּיּוֹנִים׃kay/yo/NIMas doves

    Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

17. 17

    וְהִשָּׁמְרוּve/hish/sha/me/RUand bewareלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEof the sons ofהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmenכִּיkiforיִמְסְרוּyim/se/RUthey will deliverאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouלְסַנְהֶדְרִיּוֹתle/san/hed/riy/YOTto the councilsוְיַכּוּve/yak/KUand they will strikeאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבַּשּׁוֹטִיםbash/sho/TIMwith whipsבְּבָתֵּיbe/vat/TEin the houses ofכְנִסְתָּם׃khe/nis/TAMtheir assembly

    But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

18. 18

    וְלִפְנֵיve/lif/NEand beforeמֹשְׁלִיםmosh/LIMgovernorsוּמְלָכִיםu/me/la/KHIMand kingsתּוּבְאוּtuv/Uyou will be broughtלְמַעֲנִיle/ma/a/NIfor my sakeלְעֵדוּתle/e/DUTfor a testimonyלָהֶםla/HEMto themוְלַגּוֹיִם׃ve/lag/go/YIMand to the nations

    And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

19. 19

    וְכִיve/KHIbut whenיִמְסְרוּyim/se/RUthey deliverאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאַל־תִּדְאֲגוּal-tid/a/GUdo not worryאֵיךְekhhowתְּדַבְּרוּte/dab/be/RUyou will speakוּמֶהu/MEor whatתְּדַבֵּרוּte/dab/be/RUyou will speakכִּיkiforיִנָּתֵןyin/na/TENit will be givenלָכֶםla/KHEMto youבַּשָּׁעָהbash/sha/Ain the hourהַהִיאha/HIthatאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatתְּדַבֵּרוּן׃te/dab/be/RUNyou will speak

    But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

20. 20

    כִּיkiforלֹאlonotאַתֶּםat/TEMyouהֵםhemareהַמְדַבְּרִיםham/dab/be/RIMthe ones speakingכִּיkibutרוּחַRU/achthe Spirit ofאֲבִיכֶםA/vi/KHEMyour Fatherהוּאhuisהַמְדַבֵּרham/dab/BERthe one speakingבָּכֶם׃ba/KHEMin you

    For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

21. 21

    וְאָחve/ACHand brotherיִמְסֹרyim/SORwill deliverאֶת־אָחִיוet-a/CHIVhis brotherלַמָּוֶתlam/MA/vetto deathוְאָבve/AVand a fatherיִמְסֹרyim/SORwill deliverאֶת־בְּנוֹet-be/NOhis sonוְקָמוּve/KA/muand will rise upבָנִיםva/NIMsonsבַּאֲבוֹתָםba/a/vo/TAMagainst their fathersוְיָמִיתוּve/ya/mi/TUand will put to deathאוֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

22. 22

    וִהְיִיתֶםvih/yi/TEMand you will beשְׂנוּאִיםse/nu/IMhatedלְכׇל־אָדָםle/KHOL-a/DAMby all menלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofשְׁמִיshe/MImy nameוְהַמַּחֲזִיקve/ham/ma/cha/ZIKbut he who enduresעַד־הַקֵּץad-hak/KETSto the endהוּאhuheיִוָּשֵׁעַ׃yiv/va/SHE/awill be saved

    And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

23. 23

    וְאִם־יִרְדְּפוּve/IM-yir/de/FUand if they persecuteאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבְּעִירbe/IRin a cityאַחַתa/CHAToneנוּסוּnu/SUfleeלְעִירle/IRto a cityאַחֶרֶתa/CHE/retanotherכִּיkiforאָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלֹאlonotתְכַלּוּte/khal/LUyou will finishלַעֲבֹרla/a/VORpassing overעָרֵיa/REthe cities ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelעַדaduntilכִּי־יָבוֹאki-ya/VOcomesבֶן־הָאָדָם׃ven-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of man

    But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

24. 24

    אֵיןenthere is noתַּלְמִידtal/MIDdiscipleנַעֲלֶהna/a/LEexaltedעַל־רַבּוֹal-rab/BOabove his rabbiוְעֶבֶדve/E/vednor a servantעַל־אֲדֹנָיו׃al-a/do/NAYVabove his master

    The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

25. 25

    דַּיּוֹday/YOit is enoughלַתַּלְמִידlat/tal/MIDfor the discipleלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTthat he beכְּרַבּוֹke/rab/BOlike his rabbiוְלָעֶבֶדve/la/E/vedand the servantלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beכַּאדֹנָיוka/do/NAYVlike his masterאִם־לְבַעַלim-le/VA/alif the master ofהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseקָרְאוּka/re/Uthey have calledבַעַל־זְבוּלVA/al-ze/VULBeelzebubאַףafhow much moreכִּי־לְאַנְשֵׁיki-le/an/SHEthe men ofבֵיתוֹ׃ve/TOhis household

    It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

26. 26

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeלֹאlodo notתִירְאוּti/re/Ufearמִפְּנֵיהֶםmip/pe/ne/HEMthemכִּיkiforאֵיןenthere is noדָּבָרda/VARthingמְכֻסֶּהme/khus/SEcoveredאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיִגָּלֶהyig/ga/LEwill be revealedוְאֵיןve/ENand nothingנֶעְלָםne/LAMhiddenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיִוָּדֵעַ׃yiv/va/DE/awill be known

    Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

27. 27

    אֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youבַּחֹשֶׁךְba/CHO/shekhin darknessדַּבְּרוּdab/be/RUspeakבָאוֹרva/ORin lightוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whatיִלָּחֵשׁyil/la/CHESHis whisperedלְאׇזְנֵיכֶםle/oz/ne/KHEMin your earsהַשְׁמִיעוּhash/MI/uproclaimמֵעַלme/ALfromהַגַּגּוֹת׃hag/gag/GOTthe housetops

    What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

28. 28

    וְאַל־תִּירְאוּve/AL-ti/re/Uand do not fearמִן־הַהֹרְגִיםmin-ha/hor/GIMthose who killאֶת־הַגּוּףet-hag/GUFthe bodyוְאֶת־הַנֶּפֶשׁve/ET-han/NE/feshbut the soulלֹא־יוּכְלוּlo-yukh/LUthey cannotלַהֲרֹגla/ha/ROGto killאַךְakhbutתִּירְאוּti/re/Ufearאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־יוּכַלet-a/SHER-yu/KHALhim who canלְאַבֵּדle/ab/BEDto destroyגַּםgambothאֶת־הַנֶּפֶשׁet-han/NE/feshthe soulגַּםgamandאֶת־הַגּוּףet-hag/GUFthe bodyבְּגֵיהִנֹּם׃be/Ge/hin/NOMin Gehenna

    And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

29. 29

    הֲלֹאha/LOare notתִמָּכַרְנָהtim/ma/khar/NAsoldשְׁתֵּיshtetwoצִפֳּרִיםtsip/po/RIMsparrowsבְּאִסָּרbe/is/SARfor an assarionוְאַחַתve/a/CHATand oneמֵהֵנָּהme/HEN/naof themלֹאlonotתִּפּוֹלtip/POLwill fallאַרְצָהAR/tsato the groundמִבַּלְעֲדֵיmib/bal/a/DEwithoutאֲבִיכֶם׃A/vi/KHEMyour Father

    Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

30. 30

    וְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youגַּם־שַׂעֲרוֹתgam-sa/a/ROTeven the hairs ofרֹאשְׁכֶםro/she/KHEMyour headנִמְנוֹתnim/NOTare numberedכֻּלָּן׃kul/LANall of them

    But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31. 31

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאַל־תִּירָאוּal-ti/RA/udo not fearהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיְקַרְתֶּםye/kar/TEMyou are more preciousמִצִּפֳּרִיםmits/tsip/po/RIMthan sparrowsרַבּוֹת׃rab/BOTmany

    Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

32. 32

    הֵןhenbeholdכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERwhoeverיוֹדֶהyo/DEconfessesבִיvimeלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmenאוֹדֶה־בּוֹo/DE-boI will confess himגַם־אָנִיgam-A/niI alsoלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאָבִיA/VImy Fatherשֶׁבַּשָּׁמָיִם׃sheb/bash/sha/MA/yimwho is in heaven

    Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

33. 33

    וַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERbut whoeverיְכַחֵשׁye/kha/CHESHdeniesבִּיbimeלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmenאֲכַחֶשׁ־בּוֹa/kha/CHESH-boI will deny himגַם־אָנִיgam-A/niI alsoלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאָבִיA/VImy Fatherשֶׁבַּשָּׁמָיִם׃sheb/bash/sha/MA/yimwho is in heaven

    But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

34. 34

    אַל־תַּחְשְׁבוּal-tach/she/VUdo not thinkכִּיkithatבָאתִיVA/tiI have comeלְהָטִילle/ha/TILto castשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceבָּאָרֶץba/A/retson earthלֹאlonotבָאתִיVA/tiI have comeלְהָטִילle/ha/TILto castשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceכִּיkibutאִםimratherחָרֶב׃CHA/reva sword

    Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

35. 35

    כִּיkiforבָאתִיVA/tiI have comeלְהַפְרִידle/haf/RIDto separateבֵּיןbenbetweenאִישׁisha manוְאָבִיוve/a/VIVand his fatherוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenבַּתbata daughterוְאִמָּהּve/im/MAand her motherוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenכַּלָּהkal/LAa daughter in lawוַחֲמוֹתָהּ׃va/cha/mo/TAand her mother in law

    For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

36. 36

    וְאֹיְבֵיve/oy/VEand the enemies ofאִישׁisha man areאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofבֵיתוֹ׃ve/TOhis own household

    And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

37. 37

    הָאֹהֵבha/o/HEVhe who lovesאֶת־אָבִיוet-a/VIVhis fatherוְאֶת־אִמּוֹve/ET-im/MOand his motherיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nithan meאֵינוֹe/NOis notכְדַיkhe/DAYworthyלִיliof meוְהָאֹהֵבve/ha/o/HEVand he who lovesאֶת־בְּנוֹet-be/NOhis sonוּבִתּוֹu/vit/TOand his daughterיוֹתֵרyo/TERmoreמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nithan meאֵינוֹe/NOis notכְדַיkhe/DAYworthyלִי׃liof me

    He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

38. 38

    וַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand he whoלֹא־יִקַּחlo-yik/KACHdoes not takeאֶת־צְלוּבוֹet-tse/lu/VOhis crossוְהָלַךְve/ha/LAKHand walkאַחֲרָיa/cha/RAYafter meאֵינוֹe/NOis notכְדַיkhe/DAYworthyלִי׃liof me

    And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

39. 39

    הַמֹּצֵאham/mo/TSEhe who findsאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹet-naf/SHOhis soulיְאַבְּדֶנָּהye/ab/be/den/NAwill lose itוְהַמְאַבֵּדve/ham/ab/BEDand he who losesאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹet-naf/SHOhis soulלְמַעֲנִיle/ma/a/NIfor my sakeהוּאhuheיִמְצָאֶנָּה׃yim/tsa/en/NAwill find it

    He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

    הַמְקַבֵּלham/kab/BELhe who receivesאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאוֹתִיo/TImeהוּאhuheמְקַבֵּלme/kab/BELreceivesוְהַמְקַבֵּלve/ham/kab/BELand he who receivesאוֹתִיo/TImeהוּאhuheמְקַבֵּלme/kab/BELreceivesאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERhim whoשְׁלָחָנִי׃she/la/CHA/nisent me

    He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

41. 41

    הַמְקַבֵּלham/kab/BELhe who receivesנָבִיאna/VIa prophetלְשֵׁםle/SHEMin the name ofנָבִיאna/VIa prophetשְׂכַרse/KHARthe reward ofנָבִיאna/VIa prophetיִקָּחyik/KACHwill receiveוְהַמְקַבֵּלve/ham/kab/BELand he who receivesצַדִּיקtsad/DIKa righteous manלְשֵׁםle/SHEMin the name ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKa righteous manשְׂכַרse/KHARthe reward ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKa righteous manיִקָּח׃yik/KACHwill receive

    He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

42. 42

    וְהַמַּשְׁקֶהve/ham/mash/KEand whoever gives to drinkאֶת־אַחַדet-a/CHADto one ofהַקְּטַנִּיםhak/ke/tan/NIMthe little onesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseרַקrakonlyכּוֹסkosa cup ofמַיִםMA/yimwaterקָרִיםka/RIMcoldלְשֵׁםle/SHEMin the name ofתַּלְמִידtal/MIDa discipleאָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatלֹא־יֹאבַדlo-yo/VADwill not loseשְׂכָרוֹ׃se/kha/ROhis reward

    And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
