    וַיִּקְרָאAnd when he had calledאֵלָיוunto himאֶת־שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרhis twelveתַּלְמִידָיוdisciples,וַיִּתֵּןhe gaveלָהֶםthemשׇׁלְטָןpowerעַל־רוּחוֹתagainst spirits,הַטֻּמְאָהuncleanלְגָרֲשֵׁםto cast them out,וְלִרְפּוֹאand to healכׇּל־חֳלִיall manner of sicknessוְכׇל־מַדְוֶה׃and all manner of disease.

    And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

    וְאֵלֶּהNow theseשְׁמוֹתare the names ofשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרthe twelveהַשְּׁלִיחִיםapostles;הָרִאשׁוֹןThe first,שִׁמְעוֹןSimon,הַנִּקְרָאwho is calledפֶטְרוֹסPeter,וְאַנְדְּרַיand Andrewאָחִיוhis brother;יַעֲקֹבJamesבֶּן־זַבְדַּיthe son of Zebedee,וְיוֹחָנָןand Johnאָחִיו׃his brother;

    Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

    פִילִפּוֹסPhilip,וּבַר־תַּלְמַיand Bartholomew;תּוֹמָאThomas,וּמַתַּיand Matthewהַמּוֹכֵסthe publican;יַעֲקֹבJamesבֶּן־חַלְפַיthe son of Alphaeus,וְלַבַּיand Lebbaeus,הַמְכֻנֶּהwhose surname wasתַדָּי׃Thaddaeus;

    Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphæus, and Lebbæus, whose surname was Thaddæus;

    שִׁמְעוֹןSimonהַקַּנָּיthe Canaanite,וִיהוּדָהand Judasאִישׁ־קְרִיּוֹתof Kerioth,הוּאwhoהַמֹּסֵרalso betrayedאֹתוֹ׃him.

    Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

    אֶת־שְׁנֵים־הֶעָשָׁרthe twelveהָאֵלֶּהtheseשָׁלַחsent forth,יֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיְצַוand commandedאֹתָםthem,לֵאמֹרsaying,אֶל־דֶּרֶךְinto the way ofהַגּוֹיִםthe Gentiles,אַל־תֵּלֵכוּGo notוְאֶל־עִירand into any city ofהַשֹׁמְרוֹנִיםthe Samaritansאַל־תָּבֹאוּ׃enter you not:

    These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

    לְכוּBut go ratherאֶל־הַצֹּאןto the sheepהָאֹבְדוֹתlostאֲשֶׁרofלְבֵית־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃the house of Israel.

    But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

  7. 7

    וּבְלֶכְתְּכֶםAnd as you go,קִרְאוּpreach,לֵאמֹרsaying,מַלְכוּתThe kingdom ofהַשָּׁמַיִםheavenקׇרְבָהis at handלָבוֹא׃to come.

    And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

    רִפְאוּHealאֵת־הַחוֹלִיםthe sick,טַהֲרוּcleanseאֵת־הַמְּצֹרָעִיםthe lepers,הָקִימוּraiseאֵת־הַמֵּתִיםthe dead,וְאֵת־הַשֵּׁדִיםdevils:גָּרֵשׁוּcast outחִנָּםfreelyלְקַחְתֶּםyou have received,חִנָּםfreelyתִּתֵּנוּ׃give.

    Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

    לֹא־תִקְחוּProvide neitherזָהָבgold,וְלֹאnorכֶסֶףsilver,וְלֹאnorנְחשֶׁתbrassבַּחֲגוֹרֵיכֶם׃in your purses,

    Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

  10. 10

    וְלֹאNorתַרְמִילscripלַדֶּרֶךְfor your journey,וְלֹאneitherשְׁתֵּיtwoכֻתָּנוֹתcoats,וְלֹאneitherנַעֲלַיִםshoes,וְלֹאnor yetמַטֶּהa staff:כִּי־רָאוּיfor is worthyלַפֹּעֵלthe workmanדֵּיthe portionמִחְיָתוֹ׃of his meat.

    Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

    וְכׇל־עִירAnd into whatsoever cityוּכְפָרor townאֲשֶׁרwhichתָּבֹאוּyou shall enter,שָׁמָּהthitherדִּרְשׁוּenquireמִיwhoהוּאhe isהָגוּןworthy;לָזֶהfor thisבְּתוֹכָהּin itוְשָׁםand thereשְׁבוּabideעַדtillצֵאתְכֶם׃you go thence.

    And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

  12. 12

    וּבְבוֹאֲכֶםAnd when you comeאֶל־הַבָּיִתinto an house,שַׁאֲלוּ־לוֹsalute itלְשָׁלוֹם׃with peace.

    And when ye come into an house, salute it.

  13. 13

    וְהָיָהAndאִם־הָגוּןif be worthy,הַבַּיִתthe houseיָבוֹאlet comeעָלָיוupon it:שְׁלוֹמְכֶםyour peaceוְאִם־אֵינֶנּוּbut if it beהָגוּןnot worthy,שְׁלוֹמְכֶםlet your peaceאֲלֵיכֶםto you.יָשׁוּב׃return

    And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

  14. 14

    וְכֹלAnd whosoeverאֲשֶׁרwhoלֹא־יְקַבֵּלshall not receiveאֶתְכֶםyou,וְלֹאnorיִשְׁמַעhearלְדִבְרֵיכֶםyour words,וִיצָאתֶםwhen you depart out ofמִן־הַבַּיִתhouseהַהוּאthatוּמִן־הָעִירor cityהַהִיאthat,וּנְעַרְתֶּםshake offאֶת־עֲפַרthe dustרַגְלֵיכֶם׃of your feet.

    And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

  15. 15

    אָמֵןVerilyאֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIלָכֶםunto you,כִּיthatיֵקַלIt shall be more tolerableלְאֶרֶץ־סְדוֹםfor the land of Sodomוַעֲמֹרָהand Gomorrahבְּיוֹםin the day ofהַדִּיןjudgment,מִן־הָעִירthan for city.הַהִיא׃that

    Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

    הִנֵּהBehold,אָנֹכִיIשֹׁלֵחַsendאֶתְכֶםyouכִּשְׁלֹחַforth asכְּבָשִׂיםsheepבֵּיןin the midst ofזְאֵבִיםwolves:לָכֵןthereforeהֱיוּbe youעֲרוּמִיםwiseכַּנְּחָשִׁיםas serpents,וּתְמִימִיםand harmlessכַּיּוֹנִים׃as doves.

    Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

  17. 17

    וְהִשָׁמְרוּBut bewareלָכֶםyourselvesמִבְּנֵיof the sons ofהָאָדָםmen:כִּיforיִמְסְרוּthey will deliver upאֶתְכֶםyouלְסַנְהֶדְרִיּוֹתto the councils,וְיַכּוּand they will smiteאֶתְכֶםyouבַּשׁוֹטִיםwith scourgesבִּכְנֵסִיּוֹתֵיהֶם׃in their synagogues;

    But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

  18. 18

    וְלִפְנֵיAnd beforeמֹשְׁלִיםgovernorsוּמְלָכִיםand kingsתּוּבְאוּyou shall be broughtלְמַעֲנִיfor my sake,לְעֵדוּתfor a testimonyלָהֶםagainst themוְלַגּוֹיִם׃and the Gentiles.

    And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

  19. 19

    וְכִיBut whenיִמְסְרוּthey deliver upאֶתְכֶםyou,אַל־תִּדְאֲגוּtake no thoughtאֵיךְhowתְּדַבְּרוּyou shall speak,וּמֶהor whatתְּדַבֵּרוּyou shall speak:כִּיforיִנָּתֵןit shall be givenלָכֶםyouבַּשָּׁעָהin same hourהַהִיאthatאֵת־אֲשֶׁרwhatתְּדַבֵּרוּן׃you shall speak.

    But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

  20. 20

    כִּיForלֹאnotאַתֶּםyouהֵםit isהַמְדַבְּרִיםthat speak,כִּיbutרוּחַthe Spirit ofאֲבִיכֶםyour Fatherהוּאhe it isהַמְדַבֵּרwhich speakethבְּפִיכֶם׃in you.

    For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

  21. 21

    וְאָחAnd the brotherיִמְסֹרshall deliver upאֶת־אָחִיוthe brotherלַמָּוֶתto death,וְאָבand the fatherיִמְסֹרshall deliver upאֶת־בְּנוֹthe child:וְקָמוּand shall rise upבָנִיםthe childrenבַּאֲבוֹתָםagainst their parents,וְיָמִיתוּand cause to be put to death.אוֹתָם׃them

    And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

  22. 22

    וִהְיִיתֶםAnd you shall beשְׂנוּאִיםhatedלְכׇל־אָדָםof all menלְמַעַןforשְׁמִיmy name's sake:וְהַמְחַכֶּהbut he that endurethעַד־עֵתunto the time ofקֵץthe endהוּאheיִוָּשֵׁעַ׃shall be saved.

    And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

  23. 23

    וְאִם־יִרְדְּפוּBut when they persecuteאֶתְכֶםyouבְּעִירin city,אַחַתthisנוּסוּflee youלְעִירintoאַחֶרֶתanother:כִּיforאָמֵןverilyאֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIלָכֶםunto you,לֹאnotתְכַלּוּYou shall have finishedלַעֲבֹרpassing overעָרֵיthe cities ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsrael,עַדtillכִּי־יָבוֹאbe come.בֶן־הָאָדָם׃the Son of man

    But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

  24. 24

    אֵיןis notתַּלְמִידThe discipleנַעֲלֶהaboveעַל־רַבּוֹhis master,וְעֶבֶדnor the servantעַל־אֲדֹנָיו׃above his lord.

    The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

  25. 25

    דַּיּוֹIt is enoughלַתַּלְמִידfor the discipleלִהְיוֹתthat he beכְּרַבּוֹas his master,וְלָעֶבֶדand the servantלִהְיוֹתto beכַּאדֹנָיוas his lord.אִם־לְבַעַלIf the master ofהַבַּיִתthe houseקָרְאוּthey have calledבַעַל־זְבוּלBeelzebub,אַףhow much more shall they callכִּי־לְאַנְשֵׁיthem of the men ofבֵיתוֹ׃his household?

    It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

  26. 26

    עַל־כֵּןtherefore:לֹאnotתִירְאוּFearמִפְּנֵיהֶםof them:כִּיforאֵיןthere is notדָּבָרa thingמְכֻסֶּהcovered,אֲשֶׁרthatלֹאnotיִגָּלֶהshall be revealed;וְאֵיןandנֶעְלָםhid,אֲשֶׁרthatלֹאnotיִוָּדֵעַ׃shall be known.

    Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

  27. 27

    אֵת־אֲשֶׁרWhatאֲנִיIאֹמֵרtellלָכֶםyouבַּחֹשֶׁךְin darkness,דַּבְּרוּthat speak youבָאוֹרin light:וַאֲשֶׁרand whatיִלָּחֵשׁyou hearלְאׇזְנֵיכֶםin the ear,הַשְׁמִיעוּthat preach youמֵעַלuponהַגַּגּוֹת׃the housetops.

    What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

  28. 28

    וְאַל־תִּירְאוּAnd fear notמִן־הַהֹרְגִיםthem which killאֶת־הַגּוּףthe body,וְאֶת־הַנֶּפֶשׁbut the soulלֹא־יוּכְלוּare not ableלַהֲרֹגto kill:אַךְbutתִּירְאוּrather fearאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־יוּכַלhim which is ableלְאַבֵּדto destroyגַּםbothאֶת־הַנֶּפֶשׁsoulגַּםandאֶת־הַגּוּףbodyבְּגֵיהִנֹּם׃in hell.

    And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

  29. 29

    הֲלֹאAre notתִמָּכַרְנָהsoldשְׁתֵּיtwoצִפֳּרִיםsparrowsבְּאִסָּרfor a farthing?וְאַחַתand oneמֵהֵנָּהof themלֹאnotתִּפּוֹלshall fallאַרְצָהon the groundמִבַּלְעֲדֵיwithoutאֲבִיכֶם׃your Father.

    Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

  30. 30

    וְאַתֶּםButגַּם־שַׂעֲרוֹתthe very hairs ofרֹאשְׁכֶםyour headנִמְנוֹתare numbered.כֻּלָּן׃all

    But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

  31. 31

    לָכֵןThereforeאַל־תִּירָאוּfear you not,הִנֵּהbehold,יְקַרְתֶּםyou are of more valueמִצִּפֳּרִיםthan sparrows.רַבּוֹת׃many

    Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

  32. 32

    הֵןBehold,כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרWhosoever thereforeיוֹדֶהshall confessבִיmeלִפְנֵיbeforeהָאָדָםmen,אוֹדֶה־בּוֹhim will I confessגַם־אָנִיalsoלִפְנֵיbeforeאָבִיmy Fatherשֶׁבַּשָׁמָיִם׃which is in heaven.

    Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

  33. 33

    וַאֲשֶׁרBut whosoeverיְכַחֵשׁshall denyבִּיmeלִפְנֵיbeforeהָאָדָםmen,אֲכַחֶשׁ־בּוֹhim will I denyגַם־אָנִיalsoלִפְנֵיbeforeאָבִיmy Fatherשֶׁבַּשָׁמָיִם׃which is in heaven.

    But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

  34. 34

    אַל־תַּחְשְׁבוּThink notכִּיthatבָאתִיI am comeלְהָטִילto sendשָׁלוֹםpeaceבָּאָרֶץon earth:לֹאnotבָאתִיI cameלְהָטִילto sendשָׁלוֹםpeace,כִּיbutאִםratherחָרֶב׃a sword.

    Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

  35. 35

    כִּיForבָאתִיI am comeלְהַפְרִידto set at varianceבֵּיןagainstאִישׁa manוְאָבִיוhis father,וּבֵיןandבַּתthe daughterוְאִמָּהּagainst her mother,וּבֵיןandכַּלָּהthe daughter in lawוַחֲמוֹתָהּ׃against her mother in law.

    For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

  36. 36

    וְאֹיְבֵיAnd foes shall beאִישׁa man'sאַנְשֵׁיthey ofבֵיתוֹ׃his own household.

    And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

  37. 37

    הָאֹהֵבHe that lovethאֶת־אָבִיוfatherוְאֶת־אִמּוֹor motherיוֹתֵרmoreמִמֶּנִּיthan meאֵינוֹis notכְדַיworthyלִיof me:וְהָאֹהֵבand he that lovethאֶת־בְּנוֹsonוּבִתּוֹor daughterיוֹתֵרmoreמִמֶּנִּיthan meאֵינוֹis notכְדַיworthyלִי׃of me.

    He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

  38. 38

    וַאֲשֶׁרAnd he thatלֹא־יִקַּחtaketh notאֶת־צְלוּבוֹhis cross,וְהָלַךְand followethאַחֲרָיafter me,אֵינוֹis notכְדַיworthyלִי׃of me.

    And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

  39. 39

    הַמֹּצֵאHe that findethאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹhis lifeיְאַבְּדֶנָּהshall lose it:וְהַמְאַבֵּדand he that losethאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹhis lifeלְמַעֲנִיfor my sakeהוּאheיִמְצָאֶנָּה׃shall find it.

    He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

  40. 40

    הַמְקַבֵּלHe that receivethאֶתְכֶםyouאוֹתִיme,הוּאheמְקַבֵּלreceivethוְהַמְקַבֵּלand he that receivethאוֹתִיmeהוּאheמְקַבֵּלreceivethאֵת־אֲשֶׁרhim thatשְׁלָחָנִי׃sent me.

    He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

  41. 41

    הַמְקַבֵּלHe that receivethנָבִיאa prophetלְשֵׁםin the name ofנָבִיאa prophetשְׂכַרreward;נָבִיאa prophet'sיִקָּחshall receiveוְהַמְקַבֵּלand he that receivethצַדִּיקa righteous manלְשֵׁםin the name ofצַדִּיקa righteous manשְׂכַרreward.צַדִּיקa righteous man'sיִקָּח׃shall receive

    He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

  42. 42

    וְהַמַּשְׁקֶהAnd whosoever shall give to drinkאֶת־אַחַדunto one ofהַקְּטַנִּיםlittle onesהָאֵלֶּהtheseרַקonlyכּוֹסa cup ofמַיִםwaterקָרִיםcoldלְשֵׁםin the name ofתַּלְמִידa disciple,אָמֵןverilyאֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIלָכֶםunto you,כִּיthatלֹא־יֹאבַדhe shall in no wise loseשְׂכָרוֹ׃his reward.

    And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
