1. 1

   וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand he went outמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־אַרְצוֹel-ar/TSOto his landוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himתַּלְמִידָיו׃tal/mi/DAYVhis disciples

   And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.

   And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

   Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֵיןenthere is notהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIa prophetנִקְלֶהnik/LEdishonoredכִּיkibutאִם־בְּאַרְצוֹim-be/ar/TSOonly in his landוּבֵיןu/VENand amongקְרוֹבָיוke/ro/VAYVhis relativesוּבְבֵיתוֹ׃u/ve/ve/TOand in his house

   But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

   וְלֹאve/LOand notיָכֹלya/KHOLcould heלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTdoשָׁםshamthereכׇּל־גְּבוּרָהkol-ge/vu/RAany mighty workרַקrakonlyחַלָּשִׁיםchal/la/SHIMsickמְעַטִּיםme/at/TIMa fewשָׂםsamhe putיָדָיוya/DAYVhis handsעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMon themוַיִּרְפָּאֵם׃vay/yir/pa/EMand healed them

   And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

   וַיִּתְמַהּvay/yit/MAand he marveledעַל־חֶסְרוֹןal-ches/RONat the lack ofאֱמוּנָתָםe/mu/na/TAMtheir faithוַיַּעֲבֹרvay/ya/a/VORand he passedבַּכְּפָרִיםbak/ke/fa/RIMthrough the villagesמִסָּבִיבmis/sa/VIVaroundוַיְלַמֵּד׃vay/lam/MEDand taught

   And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

   וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he calledאֶל־שְׁנֵים־הֶעָשָׂרel-she/NEM-he/a/SARto the twelveוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganלִשְׁלֹחַlish/LO/achto sendאוֹתָםo/TAMthemשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimtwoשְׁנָיִםshe/NA/yimby twoוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveלָהֶםla/HEMthemשׇׁלְטָןshol/TANauthorityעַל־רוּחוֹתal-ru/CHOTover the spirits ofהַטֻּמְאָה׃hat/tum/Auncleanness

   And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

   וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he commandedעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMthemאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־יִקְחוּlo-yik/CHUthey should not takeמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingלַדֶּרֶךְlad/DE/rekhfor the roadזוּלָתִיzu/la/TIexceptמַקֵּלmak/KELa staffלְבַדּוֹle/vad/DOaloneלֹאlonotתַרְמִילtar/MILa bagוְלֹאve/LOand notלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוְלֹאve/LOand notמָעוֹתma/OTcoinsבַּחֲגוֹרָה׃ba/cha/go/RAin the belt

   And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

9. 9

   וְלִהְיוֹתve/lih/YOTand to beנְעוּלֵיne/u/LEshod withסַנְדָּלsan/DALsandalsוּשְׁתֵּיush/TEand twoכֻתָּנוֹתkhut/ta/NOTcoatsלֹאlonotיִלְבָּשׁוּ׃yil/BA/shuthey should wear

   But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.

10. 10

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themכִּיkiwhenתָבֹאוּta/VO/uyou enterבֵּית־אִישׁbet-isha man's houseבְּאַחַדbe/a/CHADin one ofהַמְּקוֹמוֹתham/me/ko/MOTthe placesשְׁבוּ־בוֹshe/VU-vostay in itעַדaduntilכִּי־תֵצְאוּki-tets/Uyou go outמִשָּׁם׃mish/SHAMfrom there

    And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.

    וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand whoeverלֹא־יַאַסְפוּlo-ya/as/FUwill not take inאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוְלֹאve/LOand notיִשְׁמְעוּyish/me/Ulistenאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMyouצְאוּtse/Ugo outמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereוְנַעֲרוּve/na/a/RUand shake offאֶת־עֲפַרet-a/FARthe dust ofכַּפּוֹתkap/POTthe soles ofרַגְלֵיכֶםrag/le/KHEMyour feetלְעֵדוּתle/e/DUTfor a testimonyלָהֶםla/HEMto themאָמֵןa/MENamenאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלִסְדֹםLis/DOMfor Sodomוְלַעֲמֹרָהve/La/a/mo/RAand Gomorrhaיֵקַלye/KALit will be lighterבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofהַדִּיןhad/DINjudgmentמִן־הָעִירmin-ha/IRthan for the cityהַהִיא׃ha/HIthat

    And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

12. 12

    וַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand they went outוַיִּקְרְאוּvay/yik/re/Uand proclaimedלָשׁוּבla/SHUVto turnבִּתְשׁוּבָה׃bit/shu/VAin repentance

    And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

13. 13

    וַיְגָרְשׁוּvay/ga/re/SHUand they cast outשֵׁדִיםshe/DIMdemonsרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוַיָּסוּכוּvay/ya/su/KHUand anointedבַשֶּׁמֶןvash/SHE/menwith oilחַלָּשִׁיםchal/la/SHIMsickרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוַיִּרְפָּאוּם׃vay/yir/pa/UMand healed them

    And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

14. 14

    וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodשִׁמְעוֹshim/Ohis reportכִּיkiforנוֹדַעno/DAwas knownשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand he saidיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnהַמַּטְבִּילham/Mat/BILthe Baptistנֵעוֹרne/ORhas been awakenedמִן־הַמֵּתִיםmin-ham/me/TIMfrom the deadוְעַל־כֵּןve/AL-kenand thereforeפֹּעֲלִיםpo/a/LIMare workingבּוֹboin himהַכֹּחוֹת׃hak/ko/CHOTthe powers

    And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.

15. 15

    וְיֵשׁve/YESHand there wereאֹמְרִיםom/RIMwho saidכִּיkithatאֵלִיָּסE/liy/YASEliasהוּאhuis heוַאֲחֵרִיםva/a/che/RIMand othersאָמְרוּa/me/RUsaidכִּי־נָבִיאki-na/VIthat a prophetהוּאhuis heאוֹoorכְּאַחַדke/a/CHADlike one ofהַנְּבִיאִים׃han/ne/vi/IMthe prophets

    Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.

16. 16

    וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIנָשָׂאתִיna/SA/titook offאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹet-ro/SHOhis headמֵעָלָיוme/a/LAYVfrom himהוּאhuheקָםkamhas risenמִן־הַמֵּתִים׃min-ham/me/TIMfrom the dead

    But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.

17. 17

    כִּיkiforהוּאhuheהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodשָׁלַחsha/LACHhad sentוַיִּתְפֹּשׂvay/yit/POSand seizedאֶת־יוֹחָנָןet-Yo/cha/NANJohnוַיַּאַסְרֵהוּvay/ya/as/RE/huand bound himבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofהַסֹּהַרhas/SO/harcustodyבִּגְלַלbig/LALbecause ofהוֹרוֹדְיָהHo/rod/YAHerodiasאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofפִילִפּוֹסFi/lip/POSPhilipאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERforלְקָחָהּle/ka/CHAhe had taken herלוֹlofor himselfלְאִשָּׁה׃le/ish/SHAas wife

    For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.

18. 18

    כִּיkiforיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnאָמַרa/MARhad saidאֶל־הוֹרְדוֹסel-Hor/DOSto HerodאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofאָחִיךָa/CHI/khayour brotherאֵינֶנָּהe/NEN/nais notמֻתֶּרֶתmut/TE/retpermittedלָךְ׃lakhto you

    For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.

19. 19

    וַתִּשְׂטֹםvat/tis/TOMand held a grudge againstאוֹתוֹo/TOhimהוֹרוֹדְיָהHo/rod/YAHerodiasוַתְּבַקֵּשׁvat/te/vak/KESHand soughtהֲמִיתוֹha/mi/TOto kill himוְלֹאve/LOand notיָכֹלָה׃ya/kho/LAshe could

    Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:

20. 20

    כִּיkiforהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodיָרֵאya/REfearedאֶת־יוֹחָנָןet-Yo/cha/NANJohnבַּאֲשֶׁרba/a/SHERbecauseיָדַעya/DAhe knewכִּי־אִישׁki-ishthat a manצַדִּיקtsad/DIKrighteousוְקָדוֹשׁve/ka/DOSHand holyהוּאhuhe wasוַיִּשְׁמֹרvay/yish/MORand he guardedעָלָיוa/LAYVhimוְהַרְבֵּהve/har/BEand muchעָשָׂהa/SAhe didוַיֶּעֱרַבvay/ye/e/RAVand it was sweetלוֹloto himלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato hearאֹתוֹ׃o/TOhim

    For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.

21. 21

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayהַמֻּכְשָׁרham/mukh/SHARfittingכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenעָשָׂהa/SAmadeהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodמִשְׁתֶּהmish/TEa feastבְּיוֹםbe/YOMon the day ofהֻלֶּדֶתhul/LE/detthe birth ofאֹתוֹo/TOhimלִגְדוֹלָיוlig/do/LAYVfor his noblesוּלְשָׂרֵיu/le/sa/REand for the commanders ofהָאֲלָפִיםha/a/la/FIMthe thousandsוּלְרָאשֵׁיu/le/ra/SHEand for the heads ofהַגָּלִיל׃Hag/ga/LILGalilee

    And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;

22. 22

    וַתָּבֹאvat/ta/VOand cameבַת־הוֹרוֹדְיָהvat-Ho/rod/YAthe daughter of Herodiasוַתְּרַקֵּדvat/te/rak/KEDand dancedוַתִּיטַבvat/ti/TAVand was pleasingבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodוּבְעֵינֵיu/ve/e/NEand in the eyes ofהַמְסֻבִּיםham/sub/BIMthose recliningעִמּוֹim/MOwith himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֶל־הַנַּעֲרָהel-han/na/a/RAto the girlשַׁאֲלִיsha/a/LIaskמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/niof meאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatתַּחְפְּצִיtach/pe/TSIyou desireוְאֶתֵּןve/et/TENand I will giveלָךְ׃lakhyou

    And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.

23. 23

    וַיִּשָּׁבַעvay/yish/sha/VAand he sworeלָהּlato herלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERwhateverתִּשְׁאֲלִיtish/a/LIyou askמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/niof meאֶתֶּן־לָךְet/TEN-lakhI will give youעַד־חֲצִיad-cha/TSIup to half ofהַמַּלְכוּת׃ham/mal/KHUTthe kingdom

    And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.

24. 24

    וַתֵּצֵאvat/te/TSEand she went outוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidלְאִמָּהּle/im/MAto her motherמָהmawhatאֶשְׁאָלesh/ALshall I askוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand she saidאֶת־רֹאשׁet-roshthe head ofיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnהַמַּטְבִּיל׃ham/Mat/BILthe Baptist

    And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.

25. 25

    וַתְּמַהֵרvat/te/ma/HERand she hurriedמְאֹדme/ODveryלָבוֹאla/VOto comeאֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְel-ham/ME/lekhto the kingוַתִּשְׁאַלvat/tish/ALand askedלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingרְצוֹנִיre/tso/NImy will isשֶׁתִּתֵּןshet/tit/TENthat you giveלִיlimeעַתָּהat/TAnowבַקְּעָרָהvak/ke/a/RAon a platterאֶת־רֹאשׁet-roshthe head ofיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnהַמַּטְבִּיל׃ham/Mat/BILthe Baptist

    And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.

26. 26

    וַיִּתְעַצֵּבvay/yit/ats/TSEVand was grievedהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingמְאֹדme/ODveryאַךְakhbutבַּעֲבוּרba/a/VURfor the sake ofהַשְּׁבוּעָהhash/she/vu/Athe oathוּבַעֲבוּרu/va/a/VURand for the sake ofהַמְסֻבִּיםham/sub/BIMthose recliningעִמּוֹim/MOwith himלֹאlonotרָצָהra/TSAhe wantedלְהָשִׁיבle/ha/SHIVto turn backפָּנֶיהָ׃pa/NE/haher face

    And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.

27. 27

    וּמִיָּדu/miy/YADand immediatelyשָׁלַחsha/LACHsentהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאַחַדa/CHADone ofהַטַּבָּחִיםhat/tab/ba/CHIMthe guardsmenוַיְצַוֵּהוּvay/tsav/VE/huand commanded himלְהָבִיאle/ha/VIto bringאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹet-ro/SHOhis headוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentוַיִּכְרֹתvay/yikh/ROTand cut offאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹet-ro/SHOhis headבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofהַסֹּהַר׃has/SO/harcustody

    And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,

28. 28

    וַיְבִיאֵהוּvay/vi/E/huand brought itבַּקְּעָרָהbak/ke/a/RAon a platterוַיִּתְּנֵהוּvay/yit/te/NE/huand gave itלַנַּעֲרָהlan/na/a/RAto the girlוְהַנַּעֲרָהve/han/na/a/RAand the girlנָתְנָהna/te/NAgave itאֶל־אִמָּהּ׃el-im/MAto her mother

    And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.

29. 29

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand heardתַּלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameוַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand took upאֶת־גְּוִיָּתוֹet-ge/viy/ya/TOhis bodyוַיְשִׂימוּהָvay/si/mu/HAand laid itבַּקָּבֶר׃bak/KA/verin a tomb

    And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.

30. 30

    וַיִּקָּהֲלוּvay/yik/ka/ha/LUand gatheredהַשְּׁלִיחִיםhash/she/li/CHIMthe apostlesאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַel-Ye/SHU/ato Jesusוַיַּגִּידוּvay/yag/GI/duand toldלוֹlohimאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatעָשׂוּa/SUthey had doneוְאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרve/ET-kol-a/SHERand all thatלִמֵּדוּ׃lim/me/DUthey had taught

    And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themבֹּאוּBO/ucomeאַתֶּםat/TEMyouלְבַדְּכֶםle/vad/de/KHEMaloneאֶל־מְקוֹםel-me/KOMto a placeחׇרְבָּהchor/BAdesolateוְנוּחוּve/nu/CHUand restמְעָטme/ATa littleכִּיkiforרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyהָיוּha/YUthere wereהַבָּאִיםhab/ba/IMthose comingוְהַיֹּצְאִיםve/hay/yots/IMand those going outעַד־לְאֵין־עֵתad-le/EN-etuntil there was no timeלָהֶםla/HEMfor themלֶאֱכוֹל׃le/e/KHOLto eat

    And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

32. 32

    וַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand they wentמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereבׇּאֳנִיָּהbo/o/niy/YAin the boatאֶל־אַחַתel-a/CHATto one ofהֶחֳרָבוֹתhe/cho/ra/VOTthe desolate placesלְבָדָד׃le/va/DADalone

    And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.

33. 33

    וְהֶהָמוֹןve/he/ha/MONand the crowdרָאָהra/Asawאוֹתָםo/TAMthemיֹצְאִיםyots/IMgoing outוַיַּכִּירֻהוּvay/yak/ki/ru/HUand recognized himרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוַיָּרוּצוּvay/ya/RU/tsuand ranשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereבְּרַגְלֵיהֶםbe/rag/le/HEMon their feetמִכׇּלmik/KOLfrom allהֶעָרִיםhe/a/RIMthe citiesוַיַּעַבְרוּvay/ya/av/RUand passedאוֹתָםo/TAMthemוַיֵּאָסְפוּvay/ye/a/se/FUand gatheredאֵלָיו׃e/LAYVto him

    And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawהֲמוֹןha/MONa crowd ofעַםampeopleרָבravmanyוַיֶּהֱמוּvay/ye/he/MUand were stirredמֵעָיוme/AYVhis inward partsלָהֶםla/HEMfor themכִּיkibecauseהָיוּha/YUthey wereכַּצֹּאןkats/TSONlike sheepאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֵין־לָהֶםen-la/HEMhave noרֹעֶהro/Ea shepherdוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland he beganלְלַמֵּדle/lam/MEDto teachאוֹתָםo/TAMthemדְּבָרִיםde/va/RIMthingsהַרְבֵּה׃har/BEmany

    And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

35. 35

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenרָפָהra/FAhad wanedהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayלַעֲרוֹבla/a/ROVtoward eveningוַיִּגְּשׁוּvay/yig/ge/SHUcame nearאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himתַּלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַמָּקוֹםham/ma/KOMthe place isחָרֵבcha/REVdesertוְהַיּוֹםve/hay/YOMand the dayרַדradhas gone downמְאֹד׃me/ODfar

    And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:

36. 36

    שַׁלַּחshal/LACHsend awayאוֹתָםo/TAMthemוְיֵלְכוּve/yel/KHUand let them goאֶל־הַחֲצֵרִיםel-ha/cha/tse/RIMto the hamletsוְהַכְּפָרִיםve/hak/ke/fa/RIMand the villagesמִסָּבִיבmis/sa/VIVaroundלִקְנוֹתlik/NOTto buyלָהֶםla/HEMfor themselvesלָחֶםLA/chembreadכִּיkiforאֵין־לָהֶםen-la/HEMthey have nothingמַה־שֶּׁיֹּאכֵלוּ׃ma-shey/yo/khe/LUthat they may eat

    Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.

37. 37

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themתְּנוּte/NUgiveאַתֶּםat/TEMyouלָהֶםla/HEMthemלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLto eatוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהֲנֵלֵךְha/ne/LEKHshall we goלִקְנוֹתlik/NOTto buyלֶחֶםLE/chembreadבְּמָאתַיִםbe/ma/TA/yimfor two hundredדִּינָרdi/NARdenariiלָתֵתla/TETand giveלָהֶםla/HEMthemלֶאֱכֹל׃le/e/KHOLto eat

    He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?

38. 38

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themכַּמָּהkam/MAhow manyכִכְּרוֹת־לֶחֶםkhik/ke/ROT-LE/chemloaves of breadיֵשׁyeshare thereלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלְכוּle/KHUgoוּרְאוּu/re/Uand seeוַיֵּדְעוּvay/yed/Uand they knewוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidחָמֵשׁcha/MESHfiveוּשְׁנֵיu/she/NEand twoדָגִים׃da/GIMfish

    He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.

39. 39

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand he commandedאוֹתָםo/TAMthemלָשֶׁבֶתla/SHE/vetto sitכֻּלָּםkul/LAMall of themחֲבֻרָהcha/vu/RAgroupחֲבֻרָהcha/vu/RAby groupלְבַדle/VADapartעַל־יְרַקal-ye/RAKon the green ofהַדֶּשֶׁא׃had/DE/shegrass

    And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.

40. 40

    וַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUand they sat downשׁוּרוֹתshu/ROTrowsשׁוּרוֹתshu/ROTby rowsלְמֵאוֹתle/me/OTby hundredsוְלַחֲמִשִּׁים׃ve/la/cha/mish/SHIMand by fifties

    And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.

41. 41

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand he tookאֶת־חֲמֵשֶׁתet-cha/ME/shetthe fiveכִּכְּרוֹתkik/ke/ROTloavesהַלֶּחֶםhal/LE/chemof breadוְאֶת־שְׁנֵיve/ET-she/NEand the twoהַדָּגִיםhad/da/GIMfishוַיִּשָּׂאvay/yis/SAand lifted upעֵינָיוe/NAYVhis eyesהַשָּׁמַיְמָהhash/sha/MAY/matoward heavenוַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhand blessedוַיִּפְרֹסvay/yif/ROSand brokeאֶת־הַלֶּחֶםet-hal/LE/chemthe breadוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveלְתַלְמִידָיוle/tal/mi/DAYVto his disciplesלָשׂוּםla/SUMto putלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themוְאֶת־שְׁנֵיve/ET-she/NEand the twoהַדָּגִיםhad/da/GIMfishחִלֵּקchil/LEKhe dividedלְכֻלָּם׃le/khul/LAMto all of them

    And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.

42. 42

    וַיֹּאכְלוּvay/yo/khe/LUand ateכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themוַיִּשְׂבָּעוּ׃vay/yis/BA/uand were satisfied

    And they did all eat, and were filled.

43. 43

    וַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand they took upמִן־הַפְּתוֹתִיםmin-hap/pe/to/TIMof the piecesמְלוֹאme/LOthe fullness ofסַלִּיםsal/LIMbasketsשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרshe/NEM-a/SARtwelveוְגַםve/GAMand alsoמִן־הַדָּגִים׃min-had/da/GIMof the fish

    And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.

44. 44

    וְהָאֹכְלִיםve/ha/okh/LIMand those who ateמִן־הַלֶּחֶםmin-hal/LE/chemof the breadהָיוּha/YUwereכַּחֲמֵשֶׁתka/cha/ME/shetabout fiveאַלְפֵיal/FEthousandאִישׁ׃ishmen

    And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.

45. 45

    וּמִיָּדu/miy/YADand immediatelyהֵאִיץhe/ITShe urgedבְּתַלְמִידָיוbe/tal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesלָרֶדֶתla/RE/detto go downבׇּאֳנִיָּהbo/o/niy/YAinto the boatוְלַעֲבוֹרve/la/a/VORand to crossלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himאֶל־עֵבֶרel-E/verto the other side ofהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaאֶל־בֵּית־צָיְדָהel-Bet-tsa/ye/DAto Bethsaidaעַד־שַׁלְּחוֹad-shal/le/CHOuntil he sent awayאֶת־הָעָם׃et-ha/AMthe people

    And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.

46. 46

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחַרa/CHARafterשַׁלְּחוֹshal/le/CHOhe sent awayאֹתָםo/TAMthemוַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland he went upהָהָרָהha/HA/rato the mountainלְהִתְפַּלֵּל׃le/hit/pal/LELto pray

    And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.

47. 47

    וַיְהִי־עֶרֶבvay/HI-E/revand it was eveningוְהׇאֳנִיָּהve/ho/o/niy/YAand the boatבָאָהva/Acameבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHin the midst ofהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaוְהוּאve/HUand heלְבַדּוֹle/vad/DOaloneבַּיַּבָּשָׁה׃bay/yab/ba/SHAon the land

    And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.

48. 48

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand he sawאוֹתָםo/TAMthemמִתְיַגְּעִיםmit/yag/ge/IMtoilingבְּשׁוּטָםbe/shu/TAMin their rowingכִּיkiforהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe windלְנֶגְדָּםle/neg/DAMwas against themוַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּעֵתke/ETabout the time ofהָאַשְׁמֹרֶתha/ash/MO/retthe watchהָרְבִיעִיתha/re/vi/ITfourthוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he cameאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themמִתְהַלֵּךְmit/hal/LEKHwalkingעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEon the face ofהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaוַיּוֹאֶלvay/YO/eland he wantedלַעֲבוֹרla/a/VORto passלִפְנֵיהֶם׃lif/ne/HEMbefore them

    And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.

49. 49

    וַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand they sawאֹתוֹo/TOhimמִתְהַלֵּךְmit/hal/LEKHwalkingעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEon the face ofהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidמַרְאֵה־רוּחַmar/E-RU/achan apparitionהוּאhuit isוַיִּצְעָקוּ׃vay/yits/a/KUand cried out

    But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:

50. 50

    כִּי־כֻלָּםki-khul/LAMfor all of themרָאוּהוּra/u/HUsaw himוַיִּבָּהֵלוּvay/yib/ba/he/LUand were terrifiedאָזazthenדִבֶּרdib/BERhe spokeאִתָּםit/TAMwith themוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themחִזְקוּchiz/KUbe strongכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIfor Iהוּאhuam heאַל־תִּירָאוּ׃al-ti/RA/udo not fear

    For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.

51. 51

    וַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redand he went downאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themבׇּאֳנִיָּהbo/o/niy/YAinto the boatוְהָרוּחַve/ha/RU/achand the windשָׁכָכָהsha/KHA/khasubsidedוַיִּשְׁתּוֹמֵםvay/yish/to/MEMand was astonishedלִבָּםlib/BAMtheir heartעוֹד־יוֹתֵרod-yo/TEReven moreוַיִּתְמָהוּ׃vay/yit/MA/huand they marveled

    And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.

52. 52

    כִּיkiforלֹאlonotהִשְׂכִּילוּhis/KI/luthey understoodבִּדְבַר־כִּכְּרוֹתbid/VAR-kik/ke/ROTthe matter of the loavesהַלָּחֶםhal/LA/chemof breadמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofקְשִׁיke/SHIthe hardness ofלְבָבָם׃le/va/VAMtheir heart

    For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.

53. 53

    וַיַּעַבְרוּvay/ya/av/RUand they crossedאֶת־הַיָּםet-hay/YAMthe seaוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameאַרְצָהAR/tsainto the land ofגִּנֵּיסַרGin/ne/SARGennesaretוַיִּקְרְבוּvay/yik/re/VUand drew nearאֶל־הַיַּבָּשָׁה׃el-hay/yab/ba/SHAto the dry land

    And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.

54. 54

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּצֵאתָםke/tse/TAMas they went outמִן־הׇאֳנִיָּהmin-ho/o/niy/YAof the boatוַיַּכִּירֻהוּ׃vay/yak/ki/ru/HUand they recognized him

    And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,

55. 55

    וַיָּרוּצוּvay/ya/RU/tsuand they ranבְּכׇל־הַכִּכָּרbe/KHOL-hak/kik/KARin all the regionהַהוּאha/HUthatמִסָּבִיבmis/sa/VIVaroundוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganלָשֵׂאתla/SETto carryאֶת־הַחֹלִיםet-ha/cho/LIMthe sickבְּמִשְׁכָּבוֹתbe/mish/ka/VOTon bedsאֶל־כׇּל־מָקוֹםel-kol-ma/KOMinto every placeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uthey heardכִּיkithatהוּאhuhe wasשָׁם׃shamthere

    And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.

56. 56

    וּבְכׇל־מָקוֹםu/ve/KHOL-ma/KOMand in every placeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָבֹאya/VOhe cameאֶל־הַכְּפָרִיםel-hak/ke/fa/RIMto villagesאוֹoorאֶל־הֶעָרִיםel-he/a/RIMto citiesוְאֶל־הַשָּׂדוֹתve/EL-has/sa/DOTor to fieldsשָׁםshamthereשָׂמוּSA/muthey putאֶת־הַחוֹלִיםet-ha/cho/LIMthe sickבַּחוּצוֹתba/chu/TSOTin the streetsוַיִּתְחַנְּנוּvay/yit/chan/ne/NUand pleadedלוֹlowith himשֶׁיִּגְּעוּshey/yig/ge/Uthat they might touchרַקrakonlyבִּכְנַףbikh/NAFthe corner ofבִּגְדוֹbig/DOhis garmentוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it wasכֹּלkolallאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנָגְעוּ־בוֹna/ge/U-votouched himוְנוֹשָׁעוּ׃ve/no/sha/Uwere saved

    And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.
