1. 1

   וַיָּשׇׁבAnd he enteredוַיָּבוֹאagainאֶל־בֵּיתintoהַכְּנֵסֶתthe synagogue;וְשָׁם־אִישׁand there was a man thereאֲשֶׁרwhichיָדוֹhad a hand.יְבֵשָׁה׃withered

   And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand.

2. 2

   וַיֶּאֶרְבוּAnd they watchedלוֹhim,אִם־יִרְפָּאֵהוּwhether he would heal himבַּשַּׁבָּתon the sabbath day;לְמַעַןthatיִמְצְאוּthey might findעָלָיוagainst himעֲלִילוֹתoccasions ofדְּבָרִים׃accusation.

   And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.

3. 3

   וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saithאֶל־הָאִישׁunto the manאֲשֵׁרwhich hadיָבְשָׁהwitheredיָדוֹhis hand,קוּםRise up,עֲמֹדstandבַּתָּוֶךְ׃in the midst.

   And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.

4. 4

   וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he saithאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,הֲמֻתָּרIs it lawfulבַּשַּׁבָּתon the sabbath daysלְהֵיטִיבto do good,אוֹorלְהָרֵעַto do evil?לְהַצִּילto saveנֶפֶשׁlife,אוֹorלְהָמִיתto kill?וַיַּחֲרִישׁוּ׃But they held their peace.

   And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

5. 5

   וַיִּפֶןAnd he looked round aboutוַיַּבֵּטand beheldאֲלֵיהֶםon themבְּזַעַףwith anger,וַיִּתְעַצֵּבbeing grievedעַל־קְשִׁיfor the hardness ofלְבָבָםtheir hearts,וַיֹּאמֶרhe saithאֶל־הָאִישׁunto the man,פְּשֹׁטStretch forthאֶת־יָדֶךָyour hand.וַיִּפְשֹׁטAnd he stretched outיָדוֹhis hand:וַתֵּרָפֵאand was restoredוַתָּשׇׁבwholeכָּאַחֶרֶת׃as the other.

   And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

6. 6

   וַיֵּצְאוּAnd went forth,הַפְּרוּשִׁיםthe Phariseesוַיְמַהֲרוּand straightwayלְהִתְיָעֵץtook counselעָלָיוagainst him,עִם־אַנְשֵׁיwithהוֹרְדוֹסthe Herodians,לְאַבְּדוֹ׃how they might destroy him.

   And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

7. 7

   וְיֵשׁוּעַBut Jesusסָרwithdrew himselfמִשָּׁםfrom thenceעִם־תַּלְמִידָיוwith his disciplesאֶל־יַדtoהַיָּםthe sea:וַיֵּלְכוּand followedאַחֲרָיוhim,עַם־רָבa great multitudeמִן־הַגָּלִילfrom Galilee,וּמִיהוּדָה׃and from Judaea,

   But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judæa,

8. 8

   וּמִירוּשָׁלַיִםAnd from Jerusalem,וּמֵאֱדוֹםand from Idumaea,וּמֵעֵבֶרand from beyondהַיַּרְדֵּןJordan;וּמִסְּבִיבוֹתand they aboutצוֹרTyreוְצִידוֹןand Sidon,הָמוֹןa multitudeרָבgreatבָּאוּcameאֵלָיוunto him.כִּיwhenשָׁמְעוּthey had heardאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרwhat great thingsעָשָׂה׃he did,

   And from Jerusalem, and from Idumæa, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.

9. 9

   וַיֹּאמֶרAnd he spakeאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוto his disciples,לְהָכִיןthat should waitלוֹon himאֳנִיָּהa shipקְטַנָּהsmallמִפְּנֵיbecause ofהָעָםthe multitude,לְמַעַןto the endאֲשֶׁרthatלֹאnotיִדְחָקוּהוּ׃they should throng him.

   And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.

10. 10

    כִּיForרָפָאhe had healedלְרַבִּיםmany;עַדinsomuch thatכִּי־נָפְלוּthey pressed uponעָלָיוhimכׇּל־הַמְנֻגָּעִיםas many as had plagues,לִנְגֹּעַto touchבּוֹ׃him.

    For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues.

11. 11

    וְהָרוּחוֹתAnd spirits,הַטְּמֵאוֹתuncleanכִּרְאוֹתָןwhen they sawאֹתוֹhim,נָפְלוּfell downלְפָנָיוbefore him,וַתִּצְעַקְנָהand cried,לֵאמֹרsaying,אַתָּהYouהוּאartבֶּן־אֱלֹהִים׃the Son of God.

    And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.

12. 12

    וַיָּעַדAnd he straitly chargedבָּםthemמְאֹדmuch,לְמַעַןto the endאֲשֶׁרthatלֹא־תְגַלֶּינָהthey should not makeאוֹתוֹ׃him known.

    And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.

13. 13

    וַיַּעַלAnd he goeth upאֶל־הָהָרinto a mountain,וַיִּקְּרָאand calleth unto himאֶל־אֲשֶׁרwhomהוּאheחָפֵץwould:וַיָּבֹאוּand they cameאֵלָיו׃unto him.

    And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.

14. 14

    וַיְמַןAnd he ordainedשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרtwelveאִישׁmen,לִהְיוֹתthat they should beאִתּוֹwith him,וּלְשַׁלְּחָםand that he might send them forthלִקְרֹא׃to preach,

    And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,

15. 15

    וְהָיָהAnd there beלָהֶםunto themהַשָּׁלְטָןpowerלִרְפֹּאto healאֶת־הַתַּחֲלֻאִיםsicknesses,וּלְגָרֵשׁand to cast outאֶת־הַשֵּׁדִים׃devils:

    And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:

16. 16

    וַיְכַנֶּהand he surnamedאֶת־שִׁמְעוֹןSimonבְּשֵׁםby the nameפֶּטְרוֹס׃Peter;

    And Simon he surnamed Peter;

17. 17

    וְאֶת־יַעֲקֹבAnd Jamesבֶּן־זַבְדַּיthe son of Zebedee,וְאֵתandיוֹחָנָןJohnאֲחִיthe brother ofיַעֲקֹבJames;וַיְכַנֶּהand he surnamedאֹתָםthemבְּשֵׁםby the nameבְּנֵי־רְגוֹשׂBoanerges,הוּאwhich is,בְּנֵי־רָעַם׃The sons of thunder:

    And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:

18. 18

    וְאֵתAndאַנְדְּרַיAndrew,וְאֵתandפִילִפּוֹסPhilip,וְאֵתandבַּר־תַּלְמַיBartholomew,וְאֵתandמַתַּיMatthew,וְאֶת־תּוֹמָאand Thomas,וְאֶת־יַעֲקֹבand Jamesבֶּן־חַלְפַיthe son of Alphaeus,וְאֶת־תַּדַּיand Thaddaeus,וְאֶתandשִׁמְעוֹןSimonהַקַּנָּי׃the Canaanite,

    And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphæus, and Thaddæus, and Simon the Canaanite,

19. 19

    וְאֵת־יְהוּדָהAnd Judasאִישׁthe man ofקְרִיּוֹתKerioth,אֲשֶׁרwhich alsoהִסְגִּירbetrayedאֹתוֹhim.וַיָּבֹאוּand they wentהַבָּיְתָה׃into an house.

    And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.

20. 20

    וַיּוֹסֶףAnd againהֲמוֹןthe multitudeעָםof peopleלְהִתְאַסֵּףcometh togetherעַדso thatכִּי־לֹאthat notיָכְלוּthey couldאַףso much asלֶאֱכׇל־לָחֶם׃eat bread.

    And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.

21. 21

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּAnd when had heard of it,קְרוֹבָיוhis friendsוַיֵּצְאוּthey went outלְהַחֲזִיקto lay holdבּוֹon him:כִּיforאָמְרוּthey said,יָצָאHe is besideמִדַּעְתּוֹ׃himself.

    And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.

22. 22

    וְהַסּוֹפְרִיםAnd the scribesאֲשֶׁרwhichיָרְדוּcame downמִירוּשָׁלַיִםfrom Jerusalemאָמְרוּsaid,בַּעַל־זְבוּלBeelzebubבּוֹhe hath,וְעַל־יְדֵיand byשַׂר־הַשֵּׁדִיםthe prince of the devilsהוּאheמְגָרֵשׁcasteth outאֶת־הַשֵּׁדִים׃devils.

    And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.

23. 23

    וַיִּקְרָאAnd he calledאוֹתָםthemאֵלָיוunto him,וַיְדַבֵּרand saidלָהֶםunto themבִּמְשָׁלִיםin parables,לֵאמֹרsaying,אֵיךְHowיוּכַלcanהַשָּׂטָןSatanלְגָרֵשׁcast outהַשָּׂטָן׃Satan?

    And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?

24. 24

    וְאִם־נֶחְלְקָהAnd if be dividedמַמְלָכָהa kingdomעַל־עַצְמָהּagainst itself,לֹא־תוּכַלcannotלַעֲמֹדstand.הַמַּמְלָכָהkingdomהַהִיא׃that

    And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

25. 25

    וּבַיתAndאִם־נֶחֱלַקif be dividedעַל־עַצְמוֹagainst itself,לֹא־יוּכַלcannotלַעֲמֹדstand.הַבַּיִתa houseהַהוּא׃that

    And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

26. 26

    וְאִם־הַשָּׂטָןAnd if Satanיִתְקוֹמֵםrise upאֶל־עַצְמוֹagainst himself,וְנֶחֱלָקand be divided,לֹא־יוּכַלhe cannotלַעֲמֹדstand,כִּי־בָאbut hathקִצּוֹ׃an end.

    And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.

27. 27

    אֵיןNoאִישׁmanיָכֹלcanלָבוֹאenterלְבֵיתinto house,הַגִּבּוֹרa strong man'sוְלִגְזֹלand spoilאֶת־כֵּלָיוhis goods,אִם־לֹאexceptיֶאֱסרֹhe will bindבָּרִאשׁוֹנָהfirstאֶת־הַגִּבּוֹרthe strong man;וְאַחַרand thenיִשְׁסֶהhe will spoilאֶת־בֵּיתוֹ׃his house.

    No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.

28. 28

    אָמֵןVerilyאֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIלָכֶםunto you,כִּיthatכׇל־הָחֲטָאִיםAll sinsיִסָּלְחוּshall be forgivenלִבְנֵיunto the sons ofאָדָםmen,וְכׇל־הַגִּדּוּפִיםand blasphemiesאֲשֶׁרwherewith soeverיְגַדֵּפוּ׃they shall blaspheme:

    Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:

29. 29

    אַךְButהַמְגַדֵּףhe that shall blasphemeאֶת־רוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁagainst the Holy Ghostאֵין־לוֹhath noסְלִיחָהforgivenessלְעוֹלָםfor ever,כִּי־עֲוֹנוֹbut his iniquityיִשָּׂאhe shall bearלָנֶצַח׃for ever:

    But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

30. 30

    כִּי־הֵמָּהBecauseאָמְרוּthey said,רוּחַa spiritטֻמְאָהuncleanבּוֹ׃is in him.

    Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

31. 31

    וַיָּבֹאוּThere cameאִמּוֹhis motherוְאֶחָיוand his brethren,וַיַּעַמְדוּand, standingמִחוּץwithout,וַיִּשְׁלְחוּsentאֵלָיוunto him,לִקְרֹאcallingלוֹ׃him.

    There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.

32. 32

    וַהֲמוֹןAnd the multitudeעָםof peopleיָשְׁבוּsatסָבִיבaboutלוֹhim,וַיֹּאמְרוּand they saidאֵלָיוunto him,הִנֵּהBehold,אִמְּךָyour motherוְאַחֶיךָand your brethrenבַּחוּץwithoutוּמְבַקְשִׁיםseekאוֹתְךָ׃for you.

    And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.

33. 33

    וַיַּעַןAnd he answeredוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,מִיWhoהֵםisאִמִּיmy mother,וְאֶחָי׃or my brethren?

    And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?

34. 34

    וַיִּפֶןAnd he looked round aboutוַיַּבֵּטand beheldאֶל־הַיֹּשְׁבִיםon them which satסְבִיבָיוabout him,וַיֹּאמַרand said,הִנֵּהBeholdאִמִּיmy motherוְאֶחַי׃and my brethren!

    And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

35. 35

    כִּיForכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרwhosoeverיֵעֲשֶׂהshall doרְצוֹןthe will ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGod,הוּאthe same isאָחִיmy brother,וַאֲחוֹתִיand my sister,וְאִמִּי׃and mother.

    For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
