1. 1

   וַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand he returnedוַיָּבוֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־בֵּיתel-betinto the house ofהַכְּנֵסֶתhak/ke/NE/setassemblyוְשָׁם־אִישׁve/SHAM-ishand there was a manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoseיָדוֹya/DOhandיְבֵשָׁה׃ye/ve/SHAwas withered

   And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand.

2. 2

   וַיֶּאֶרְבוּvay/ye/er/VUand they lay in waitלוֹlofor himאִם־יִרְפָּאֵהוּim-yir/pa/e/HUif he would heal himבַּשַּׁבָּתbash/shab/BATon the sabbathלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיִמְצְאוּyim/tse/Uthey might findעָלָיוa/LAYVagainst himעֲלִילוֹתa/li/LOTpretexts ofדְּבָרִים׃de/va/RIMwords

   And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.

3. 3

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־הָאִישׁel-ha/ISHto the manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיָבְשָׁהya/ve/SHAwas witheredיָדוֹya/DOhis handקוּםkumriseעֲמֹדa/MODstandבַּתָּוֶךְ׃bat/TA/vekhin the midst

   And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.

4. 4

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהֲמֻתָּרha/mut/TARis it permittedבַּשַּׁבָּתbash/shab/BATon the sabbathלְהֵיטִיבle/he/TIVto do goodאוֹoorלְהָרֵעַle/ha/RE/ato do evilלְהַצִּילle/hats/TSILto saveנֶפֶשׁNE/fesha lifeאוֹoorלְהָמִיתle/ha/MITto killוַיַּחֲרִישׁוּ׃vay/ya/cha/RI/shuand they were silent

   And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

   וַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand he turnedוַיַּבֵּטvay/yab/BETand lookedאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMat themבְּזַעַףbe/ZA/afwith angerוַיִּתְעַצֵּבvay/yit/ats/TSEVand was grievedעַל־קְשִׁיal-ke/SHIfor the hardness ofלְבָבָםle/va/VAMtheir heartוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־הָאִישׁel-ha/ISHto the manפְּשֹׁטpe/SHOTstretch outאֶת־יָדֶךָet-ya/DE/khayour handוַיִּפְשֹׁטvay/yif/SHOTand he stretched outיָדוֹya/DOhis handוַתֵּרָפֵאvat/te/ra/FEand was healedוַתָּשׇׁבvat/TA/shovand returnedכָּאַחֶרֶת׃ka/a/CHE/retlike the other

   And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

   וַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand went outהַפְּרוּשִׁיםhap/Pe/ru/SHIMthe Phariseesוַיְמַהֲרוּvay/ma/ha/RUand quicklyלְהִתְיָעֵץle/hit/ya/ETStook counselעָלָיוa/LAYVagainst himעִם־אַנְשֵׁיim-an/SHEwith the men ofהוֹרְדוֹסHor/DOSHerodלְאַבְּדוֹ׃le/ab/be/DOto destroy him

   And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

7. 7

   וְיֵשׁוּעַve/Ye/SHU/abut Jesusסָרsarwithdrewמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereעִם־תַּלְמִידָיוim-tal/mi/DAYVwith his disciplesאֶל־יַדel-yadto the side ofהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand wentאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himעַם־רָבam-ravmany peopleמִן־הַגָּלִילmin-Hag/ga/LILfrom Galileeוּמִיהוּדָה׃u/Mi/hu/DAand from Judaea

   But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judæa,

8. 8

   וּמִירוּשָׁלַיִםu/Mi/ru/sha/LA/yimand from Jerusalemוּמֵאֱדוֹםu/Me/e/DOMand from Idumaeaוּמֵעֵבֶרu/me/E/verand from beyondהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanוּמִסְּבִיבוֹתu/mis/se/vi/VOTand from the surroundings ofצוֹרTsorTyreוְצִידוֹןve/Tsi/DONand Sidonהָמוֹןha/MONa crowdרָבravgreatבָּאוּBA/ucameאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himכִּיkiwhenשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uthey heardאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatעָשָׂה׃a/SAhe did

   And from Jerusalem, and from Idumæa, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.

9. 9

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand he saidאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוel-tal/mi/DAYVto his disciplesלְהָכִיןle/ha/KHINto prepareלוֹlofor himאֳנִיָּהo/niy/YAa boatקְטַנָּהke/tan/NAsmallמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלְמַעַןle/MA/ansoאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיִדְחָקוּהוּ׃yid/cha/ku/HUthey would press him

   And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.

10. 10

    כִּיkiforרָפָאra/FAhe healedלְרַבִּיםle/rab/BIMmanyעַדaduntilכִּי־נָפְלוּki-na/fe/LUthat fellעָלָיוa/LAYVon himכׇּל־הַמְנֻגָּעִיםkol-ham/nug/ga/IMall the afflictedלִנְגֹּעַlin/GO/ato touchבּוֹ׃bohim

    For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues.

11. 11

    וְהָרוּחוֹתve/ha/ru/CHOTand the spiritsהַטְּמֵאוֹתhat/te/me/OTuncleanכִּרְאוֹתָןkir/o/TANwhen they sawאֹתוֹo/TOhimנָפְלוּna/fe/LUfell downלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himוַתִּצְעַקְנָהvat/tits/ak/NAand cried outלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאַתָּהat/TAyouהוּאhuareבֶּן־אֱלֹהִים׃ben-E/lo/HIMthe Son of God

    And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.

12. 12

    וַיָּעַדvay/YA/adand he warnedבָּםbamthemמְאֹדme/ODmuchלְמַעַןle/MA/ansoאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־תְגַלֶּינָהlo-te/gal/le/NAthey would not revealאוֹתוֹ׃o/TOhim

    And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.

13. 13

    וַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland he went upאֶל־הָהָרel-ha/HARto the mountainוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledאֶל־אֲשֶׁרel-a/SHERthose whomהוּאhuheחָפֵץcha/FETSdesiredוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameאֵלָיו׃e/LAYVto him

    And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.

14. 14

    וַיְמַןvay/MANand he appointedשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרshe/NEM-a/SARtwelveאִישׁishmenלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beאִתּוֹit/TOwith himוּלְשַׁלְּחָםu/le/shal/le/CHAMand to send themלִקְרֹא׃lik/ROto proclaim

    And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,

15. 15

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand there would beלָהֶםla/HEMto themהַשָּׁלְטָןhash/sha/le/TANthe authorityלִרְפֹּאlir/POto healאֶת־הַתַּחֲלֻאִיםet-hat/ta/cha/lu/IMthe diseasesוּלְגָרֵשׁu/le/ga/RESHand to cast outאֶת־הַשֵּׁדִים׃et-hash/she/DIMthe demons

    And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:

16. 16

    וַיְכַנֶּהvay/khan/NEand he namedאֶת־שִׁמְעוֹןet-Shim/ONSimonבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMby the nameפֶּטְרוֹס׃Pet/ROSPeter

    And Simon he surnamed Peter;

17. 17

    וְאֶת־יַעֲקֹבve/ET-ya/a/KOVand Jamesבֶּן־זַבְדַּיben-Zav/DAYthe son of Zebedeeוְאֵתve/ETandיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohnאֲחִיa/CHIthe brother ofיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJamesוַיְכַנֶּהvay/khan/NEand he namedאֹתָםo/TAMthemבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMby the nameבְּנֵי־רְגוֹשׂBe/NE-re/GOSBoanergesהוּאhuthat isבְּנֵי־רָעַם׃be/NE-ra/AMthe sons of thunder

    And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:

18. 18

    וְאֵתve/ETandאַנְדְּרַיAn/de/RAYAndrewוְאֵתve/ETandפִילִפּוֹסFi/lip/POSPhilipוְאֵתve/ETandבַּר־תַּלְמַיBar-tal/MAYBartholomewוְאֵתve/ETandמַתַּיMat/TAYMatthewוְאֶת־תּוֹמָאve/ET-to/MAand Thomasוְאֶת־יַעֲקֹבve/ET-ya/a/KOVand Jamesבֶּן־חַלְפַיben-Chal/FAYthe son of Alphaeusוְאֶת־תַּדַּיve/ET-tad/DAYand Thaddaeusוְאֶתve/ETandשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimonהַקַּנָּי׃hak/Kan/NAYthe Canaanite

    And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphæus, and Thaddæus, and Simon the Canaanite,

19. 19

    וְאֵת־יְהוּדָהve/ET-ye/hu/DAand Judasאִישׁishthe man ofקְרִיּוֹתKe/riy/YOTKeriothאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהִסְגִּירhis/GIRhanded overאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameהַבָּיְתָה׃hab/BAY/tato the house

    And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.

20. 20

    וַיּוֹסֶףvay/YO/sefand againהֲמוֹןha/MONa crowd ofעָםampeopleלְהִתְאַסֵּףle/hit/as/SEFgatheredעַדaduntilכִּי־לֹאki-lothat notיָכְלוּya/khe/LUthey couldאַףafevenלֶאֱכׇל־לָחֶם׃le/e/KHOL-LA/chemto eat bread

    And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.

21. 21

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand heardקְרוֹבָיוke/ro/VAYVhis relativesוַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uthey went outלְהַחֲזִיקle/ha/cha/ZIKto take holdבּוֹboon himכִּיkiforאָמְרוּa/me/RUthey saidיָצָאya/TSAhe has gone outמִדַּעְתּוֹ׃mid/da/TOof his mind

    And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.

22. 22

    וְהַסּוֹפְרִיםve/has/sof/RIMand the scribesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיָרְדוּya/re/DUcame downמִירוּשָׁלַיִםmI/ru/sha/LA/yimfrom Jerusalemאָמְרוּa/me/RUsaidבַּעַל־זְבוּלBA/al-ze/VULBeelzebubבּוֹbois in himוְעַל־יְדֵיve/AL-ye/DEand byשַׂר־הַשֵּׁדִיםsar-hash/she/DIMthe prince of the demonsהוּאhuheמְגָרֵשׁme/ga/RESHcasts outאֶת־הַשֵּׁדִים׃et-hash/she/DIMthe demons

    And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.

23. 23

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he calledאוֹתָםo/TAMthemאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeלָהֶםla/HEMto themבִּמְשָׁלִיםbim/sha/LIMin parablesלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֵיךְekhhowיוּכַלyu/KHALcanהַשָּׂטָןHas/sa/TANSatanלְגָרֵשׁle/ga/RESHcast outהַשָּׂטָן׃Has/sa/TANSatan

    And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?

24. 24

    וְאִם־נֶחְלְקָהve/IM-nech/le/KAand if is dividedמַמְלָכָהmam/la/KHAa kingdomעַל־עַצְמָהּal-ats/MAagainst itselfלֹא־תוּכַלlo-tu/KHALcannotלַעֲמֹדla/a/MODstandהַמַּמְלָכָהham/mam/la/KHAthe kingdomהַהִיא׃ha/HIthat

    And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

25. 25

    וּבַיִתu/VA/yitand a houseאִם־נֶחֱלַקim-ne/che/LAKif is dividedעַל־עַצְמוֹal-ats/MOagainst itselfלֹא־יוּכַלlo-yu/KHALcannotלַעֲמֹדla/a/MODstandהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseהַהוּא׃ha/HUthat

    And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

26. 26

    וְאִם־הַשָּׂטָןve/IM-has/sa/TANand if Satanיִתְקוֹמֵםyit/ko/MEMrises upאֶל־עַצְמוֹel-ats/MOagainst himselfוְנֶחֱלָקve/ne/che/LAKand is dividedלֹא־יוּכַלlo-yu/KHALhe cannotלַעֲמֹדla/a/MODstandכִּי־בָאki-vafor has comeקִצּוֹ׃kits/TSOhis end

    And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.

27. 27

    אֵיןennotאִישׁisha manיָכֹלya/KHOLcanלָבוֹאla/VOenterלְבֵיתle/VETinto the house ofהַגִּבּוֹרhag/gib/BORthe mighty manוְלִגְזֹלve/lig/ZOLand plunderאֶת־כֵּלָיוet-ke/LAYVhis vesselsאִם־לֹאim-lounlessיֶאֱסֹרye/e/SORhe bindsבָּרִאשׁוֹנָהba/ri/sho/NAfirstאֶת־הַגִּבּוֹרet-hag/gib/BORthe mighty manוְאַחַרve/a/CHARand afterwardיִשְׁסֶהyish/SEhe will plunderאֶת־בֵּיתוֹ׃et-be/TOhis house

    No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.

28. 28

    אָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatכׇל־הַחֲטָאִיםkhol-ha/cha/ta/IMall sinsיִסָּלְחוּyis/sa/le/CHUwill be forgivenלִבְנֵיliv/NEto the sons ofאָדָםa/DAMmenוְכׇל־הַגִּדּוּפִיםve/KHOL-hag/gid/du/FIMand all the blasphemiesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיְגַדֵּפוּ׃ye/gad/de/FUthey blaspheme

    Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:

29. 29

    אַךְakhbutהַמְגַדֵּףham/gad/DEFhe who blasphemesאֶת־רוּחַ־הַקֹּדֶשׁet-RU/ach-hak/KO/deshthe Holy Spiritאֵין־לוֹen-lohas noסְלִיחָהse/li/CHAforgivenessלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverכִּי־חַיָּבki-chay/YAVbut is liable toדִּיןdinthe judgment ofעוֹלָם׃o/LAMeternity

    But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

30. 30

    כִּי־הֵמָּהki-HEM/mafor theyאָמְרוּa/me/RUthey saidרוּחַRU/acha spiritטֻמְאָהtum/Aof uncleannessבּוֹ׃bois in him

    Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

31. 31

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameאִמּוֹim/MOhis motherוְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brothersוַיַּעַמְדוּvay/ya/am/DUand they stoodמִחוּץmi/CHUTSoutsideוַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUand sentאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלִקְרֹאlik/ROto callלוֹ׃lohim

    There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.

32. 32

    וַהֲמוֹןva/ha/MONand a crowd ofעָםampeopleיָשְׁבוּya/she/VUsatסָבִיבsa/VIVaroundלוֹlohimוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאִמְּךָim/me/KHAyour motherוְאַחֶיךָve/a/CHE/khaand your brothersבַּחוּץba/CHUTSoutsideוּמְבַקְשִׁיםu/me/vak/SHIMand are seekingאוֹתְךָ׃ot/KHAfor you

    And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.

33. 33

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themמִיmiwhoהֵםhemareאִמִּיim/MImy motherוְאֶחָי׃ve/e/CHAYand my brothers

    And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?

34. 34

    וַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand he turnedוַיַּבֵּטvay/yab/BETand lookedאֶל־הַיֹּשְׁבִיםel-hay/yosh/VIMat those sittingסְבִיבָיוse/vi/VAYVaround himוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאִמִּיim/MImy motherוְאֶחָי׃ve/e/CHAYand my brothers

    And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

35. 35

    כִּיkiforכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERwhoeverיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEdoesרְצוֹןre/TSONthe will ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodהוּאhuheאָחִיa/CHImy brotherוַאֲחוֹתִיva/a/cho/TIand my sisterוְאִמִּי׃ve/im/MIand my mother

    For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
