   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it wasעוֹדodyetיוֹמַיִםyo/MA/yimtwo daysוְחַגve/CHAGand the feast ofהַפֶּסַחhap/PE/sachthe passoverוְהַמַּצּוֹתve/ham/mats/TSOTand the unleavened breadבָּאbacameוַיְבַקְשׁוּvay/vak/SHUand soughtרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַסּוֹפְרִיםve/has/sof/RIMand the scribesלְתָפְשׂוֹle/ta/fe/SOto seize himבְעׇרְמָהve/or/MAby craftinessלַהֲמִיתוֹ׃la/ha/mi/TOto kill him

   After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.

   But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבִּהְיוֹתוֹbih/yo/TOwhen he wasבְּבֵית־הִינִיbe/VET-hi/NIin Bethanyבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimonהַמְּצֹרָעham/me/tso/RAthe leperבַּהֲסִיבּוֹba/ha/sib/BOas he reclinedלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLto eatוַתָּבֹאvat/ta/VOcameאִשָּׁהish/SHAa womanוּבְיָדָהּu/ve/ya/DAand in her handפַּךְ־מִרְקַחַתpakh-mir/KA/chata flask of ointment ofנֵרְדְּnerdnardזַךְzakhpureוְיָקָרve/ya/KARand costlyמְאֹדme/ODveryוַתִּשְׁבֹּרvat/tish/BORand she brokeאֶת־הַפַּךְet-hap/PAKHthe flaskוַתִּצֹּקvat/tits/TSOKand pouredעַל־רֹאשׁוֹ׃al-ro/SHOon his head

   And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.

   וְיֵשׁve/YESHand there wereאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereמִתְרָעֲמִיםmit/ra/a/MIMindignantאִישׁisha manאֶל־רֵעֵהוּel-re/E/huto his neighborלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingעַל־מֶהal-mefor whatהָיָהha/YAwasאִבּוּדib/BUDthe waste ofהַמֶּרְקָחָהham/mer/ka/CHAthe ointmentהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

   And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

   כִּיkiforרְאוּיָהre/u/YAfitהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasזֹּאתzotthisלְהִמָּכֵרle/him/ma/KHERto be soldבְּיוֹתֵרbe/yo/TERfor moreמִשְּׁלֹשׁmish/she/LOSHthan threeמֵאוֹתme/OThundredדִּינָרdi/NARdenariiוְלָתֵתve/la/TETand to giveלָעֲנִיִּיםla/a/niy/YIMto the poorוַיִּגְעֲרוּvay/yig/a/RUand they rebukedבָּהּ׃baher

   For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַנִּיחוּhan/NI/chuleaveלָהּlaherלָמָּהLAM/mawhyתַלְאוּtal/Udo you wearyנַפְשָׁהּnaf/SHAher soulמַעֲשֶׂהma/a/SEa workטוֹבtovgoodעָשְׂתָהa/se/TAshe has doneעִמָּדִי׃im/ma/DIto me

   And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.

   כִּיkiforהָעֲנִיִּיםha/a/niy/YIMthe poorתָּמִידta/MIDalwaysעִמָּכֶםim/ma/KHEMare with youוּכְשֶׁתִּרְצוּu/khe/shet/tir/TSUand when you wantתּוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou canלְהֵיטִיבle/he/TIVdo goodלָהֶםla/HEMto themוְאָנֹכִיve/a/no/KHIand Iלֹא־אֶהְיֶהlo-eh/YEwill not beאִתְּכֶםit/te/KHEMwith youתָּמִיד׃ta/MIDalways

   For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

   אֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatהָיָהha/YAwasלְאֵלle/ELin the power ofיָדָהּya/DAher handעָשָׂתָהa/SA/tashe didקִדְּמָהkid/de/MAshe came beforehandלָסוּךְla/SUKHto anointאֶת־גּוּפִיet-gu/FImy bodyלִקְבוּרָתוֹ׃lik/vu/ra/TOfor its burial

   She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

   אָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatבַּאֲשֶׁרba/a/SHERwhereverתִּקָּרֵאtik/ka/REwill be proclaimedהַבְּשׂוֹרָהhab/be/so/RAthe gospelהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֶל־כׇּל־הָעוֹלָםel-kol-ha/o/LAMin all the worldגַּםgamalsoאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatעָשְׂתָהa/se/TAhas doneהִיאhisheיְסֻפַּרye/sup/PARwill be toldלְזִכָּרוֹןle/zik/ka/RONfor a memorialלָהּ׃laof her

   Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

    וִיהוּדָהVi/hu/DAand Judasאִישׁ־קְרִיּוֹתIsh-ke/riy/YOTIscariotאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִשְּׁנֵים־הָעָשָׂרmish/she/NEM-ha/a/SARof the twelveהָלַךְha/LAKHwentאֶל־רָאשֵׁיel-ra/SHEto the chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsלִמְסֹרlim/SORto deliverאוֹתוֹo/TOhimאֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMto them

    And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them.

    וְהֵםve/HEMand theyכְּשׇׁמְעָםke/shom/AMwhen they heard itשָׂמְחוּsa/me/CHUrejoicedוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidלָתֶת־לוֹLA/tet-loto give himכָסֶףKHA/sefsilverוַיְבַקֵּשׁvay/vak/KESHand he soughtתֹּאֲנָהto/a/NAan occasionלְמָסְרוֹ׃le/ma/se/ROto deliver him

    And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּחַגbe/CHAGat the feast ofהַמַּצּוֹתham/mats/TSOTunleavened breadבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהָרִאשׁוֹןha/ri/SHONfirstאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhenיִזָּבַחyiz/za/VACHis slaughteredהַפֶּסַחhap/PE/sachthe passoverוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himתַּלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesאֵיפֹהe/FOwhereתַחְפֹּץtach/POTSdo you wantלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLeatאֶת־הַפֶּסַחet-hap/PE/sachthe passoverוְנֵלְכָהve/nel/KHAand we will goוְנָכִין׃ve/na/KHINand prepare

    And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand he sentשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimtwoמִתַּלְמִידָיוmit/tal/mi/DAYVof his disciplesוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themלְכוּle/KHUgoהָעִירָהha/I/rato the cityוּפָגַעu/fa/GAand will meetאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאִישׁisha manנֹשֵׂאno/SEcarryingצַפַּחַתtsap/PA/chata jar ofמָיִםMA/yimwaterלְכוּle/KHUgoאַחֲרָיו׃a/cha/RAYVafter him

    And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.

    וּבַאֲשֶׁרu/va/a/SHERand whereיָבוֹאya/VOhe entersשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereאִמְרוּim/RUsayלְבַעַלle/VA/alto the master ofהַבָּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysהָרַבha/RAVthe teacherאַיֵּהay/YEwhere isהַמָּלוֹןham/ma/LONthe lodgingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereאֹכַלo/KHALI may eatשָׁםshamthereאֶת־הַפֶּסַחet-hap/PE/sachthe passoverעִם־תַּלְמִידָי׃im-tal/mi/DAYwith my disciples

    And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

15. 15

    וְהוּאve/HUand heיַרְאֶהyar/Ewill showאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouעֲלִיָּהa/liy/YAan upper roomגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAlargeמֻצָּעָהmuts/tsa/Aspreadוּמוּכָנָהu/mu/kha/NAand preparedוְשָׁםve/SHAMand thereהָכִינוּha/KHI/nuprepareלָנוּ׃LA/nufor us

    And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.

16. 16

    וַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand went outתַלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameהָעִירָהha/I/rato the cityוַיִּמְצְאוּvay/yim/tse/Uand foundכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָמַרa/MARhe had saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themוַיָּכִינוּvay/ya/KHI/nuand they preparedאֶת־הַפָּסַח׃et-hap/PA/sachthe passover

    And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

17. 17

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבָּעָרֶבba/A/revin the eveningוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he cameעִם־שְׁנֵים־הֶעָשָׂר׃im-she/NEM-he/a/SARwith the twelve

    And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.

18. 18

    וַיַּסֵּבּוּvay/yas/SEB/buand they reclinedוַיֹּאכֵלוּvay/yo/KHE/luand ateוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youיִמְסְרֵנִיyim/se/re/NIwill deliver meוְהוּאve/HUand heאֹכֵלo/KHELis eatingאִתִּי׃it/TIwith me

    And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.

19. 19

    וַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand they beganלְהִתְעַצֵּבle/hit/ats/TSEVto be grievedוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand to sayאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himזֶהzeoneאַחַרa/CHARafterזֶהzeoneהֲכִיha/KHIis itאֲנִיa/NIIהוּאhuheוְאַחֵרve/a/CHERand anotherאָמַרa/MARsaidהֲכִיha/KHIis itאֲנִי׃a/NII

    And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?

20. 20

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִשְּׁנֵים־הֶעָשָׂרmish/she/NEM-he/a/SARof the twelveהוּאhuheהַטֹּבֵלhat/to/VELwho dipsעִמִּיim/MIwith meבַּקְּעָרָה׃bak/ke/a/RAin the bowl

    And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.

21. 21

    הֵןhenbeholdבֶּן־הָאָדָםben-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of manהָלֹךְha/LOKHgoיֵלֵךְye/LEKHgoesכַּכָּתוּבkak/ka/TUVas it is writtenעָלָיוa/LAYVof himאֲבָלa/VALbutאוֹיoywoeלָאִישׁla/ISHto the manהַהוּאha/HUthatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעַל־יָדוֹal-ya/DOby his handיִמָּסֵרyim/ma/SERis deliveredבֶּן־הָאָדָםben-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of manטוֹבtovbetterלָאִישׁla/ISHfor the manהַהוּאha/HUthatשֶׁלֹּאshel/LOif notנוֹלָד׃no/LADhe had been born

    The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְאָכְלָםve/a/khe/LAMas they ateוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHtookיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhand blessedוַיִּבְצַעvay/yiv/TSAand brokeוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveלָהֶםla/HEMto themוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidקְחוּke/CHUtakeאִכְלוּikh/LUeatזֶהzethisהוּאhuisגּוּפִי׃gu/FImy body

    And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

23. 23

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand he tookאֶת־הַכּוֹסet-hak/KOSthe cupוַיּוֹדֶהvay/yo/DEand gave thanksוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveלָהֶםla/HEMto themוַיִּשְׁתּוּvay/yish/TUand they drankמִמֶּנָּהmim/MEN/naof itכֻּלָּם׃kul/LAMall of them

    And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.

24. 24

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themזֶהzethis isדָמִיda/MImy bloodדַּם־הַבְּרִיתdam-hab/be/RITthe blood of the covenantהַחֲדָשָׁהha/cha/da/SHAnewהַנִּשְׁפָּךְhan/nish/PAKHwhich is shedבְּעַדbe/ADforרַבִּים׃rab/BIMmany

    And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.

25. 25

    אָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youשָׁתֹהsha/TOdrinkלֹא־אֶשְׁתֶּהlo-esh/TEI will not drinkעוֹדodmoreמִפְּרִיmip/pe/RIof the fruit ofהַגֶּפֶןhag/GE/fenthe vineעַד־הַיּוֹםad-hay/YOMuntil the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֶשְׁתֶּהesh/TEI drinkאֹתוֹo/TOitחָדָשׁcha/DASHnewבְּמַלְכוּתbe/mal/KHUTin the kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

26. 26

    וַיָּשִׁירוּvay/ya/SHI/ruand when they had sungשִׁירshira hymnוַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uthey went outאֶל־הַרel-harto the mount ofהַזֵּיתִים׃Haz/ze/TIMOlives

    And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

27. 27

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאַתֶּםat/TEMyouכֻּלְּכֶםkul/le/KHEMall of youתִּכָּשְׁלוּtik/ka/she/LUwill stumbleבִיvibecause of meבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/laon the nightהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכִּיkiforכָתוּבkha/TUVit is writtenאַכֶּהak/KEI will strikeאֶת־הָרֹעֶהet-ha/ro/Ethe shepherdוּתְפוּצֶיןָu/te/fu/TSE/naand will be scatteredהַצֹּאן׃hats/TSONthe sheep

    And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

28. 28

    אַךְakhbutאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterקוּמִיKU/mimy risingאֵלֵךְe/LEKHI will goלִפְנֵיכֶםlif/ne/KHEMbefore youהַגָּלִילָה׃hag/Ga/LI/lato Galilee

    But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

29. 29

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterגַּםgamevenאִם־יִכָּשְׁלוּim-yik/ka/she/LUif stumbleכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themאֲנִיa/NIIלֹאlonotאֶכָּשֵׁל׃ek/ka/SHELwill stumble

    But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.

30. 30

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלְךָle/KHAto youכִּיkithatהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/laon the nightהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeיִקְרָאyik/RAcallsהַתַּרְנְגוֹלhat/tar/ne/GOLthe roosterפַּעֲמָיִםpa/a/MA/yimtwiceאַתָּהat/TAyouתְכַחֶשׁ־בִּיte/kha/CHESH-biwill deny meשָׁלֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeפְּעָמִים׃pe/a/MIMtimes

    And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.

31. 31

    וְהוּאve/HUand heהִתְאַמֵּץhit/am/METSinsistedוַיּוֹסֶףvay/YO/sefand againלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspokeוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidגַּםgamevenכִּי־יִהְיֶהki-yih/YEif it isעָלַיa/LAYon meלָמוּתla/MUTdieאִתְּךָit/te/KHAwith youכַּחֵשׁka/CHESHdenyלֹא־אֲכַחֵשׁlo-a/kha/CHESHI will not denyבָּךְbakhyouוְכֵןve/KHENand soאָמְרוּa/me/RUsaidגַּם־כֻּלָּם׃gam-kul/LAMall of them also

    But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.

32. 32

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameאֶל־מָקוֹםel-ma/KOMto a placeהַנִּקְרָאhan/nik/RAcalledגַּת־שְׁמָנֵיGat-she/ma/NEGethsemaneוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוel-tal/mi/DAYVto his disciplesשְׁבוּ־לָכֶםshe/VU-la/KHEMsitפֹּהpohereעַדaduntilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֶתְפַּלָּל׃et/pal/LALI pray

    And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.

33. 33

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand he tookאִתּוֹit/TOwith himאֶת־פֶּטְרוֹסet-Pet/ROSPeterוְאֶת־יַעֲקֹבve/ET-ya/a/KOVand Jamesוְאֶת־יוֹחָנָןve/ET-yo/cha/NANand Johnוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganלְהִשְׁתּוֹמֵםle/hish/to/MEMto be appalledוְלָמוּג׃ve/la/MUGand to melt

    And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;

34. 34

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulמָרָה־לִיma/RA-liis bitter to meעַד־מָוֶתad-MA/vetto deathעִמְדוּ־פֹהim/DU-fostay hereוּשְׁקֹדוּ׃u/she/ko/DUand keep watch

    And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

35. 35

    וַיַּעֲבֹרvay/ya/a/VORand he passedמְעַטme/ATa littleמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereוָהָלְאָהva/HAL/aand beyondוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellאַרְצָהAR/tsato the groundוַיִּתְפַּלֵּלvay/yit/pal/LELand prayedאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאִם־יוּכַלim-yu/KHALif it couldהֱיוֹתhe/YOTbeתַּעֲבֹרta/a/VORwould passמֵעָלָיוme/a/LAYVfrom himהַשָּׁעָהhash/sha/Athe hourהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

    And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

36. 36

    וַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאַבָּאAb/BAAbbaהָאָבHa/AVFatherכֹּלkolallתּוּכַלtu/KHALYou canהַעֲבֶר־נָאha/a/VER-natake away nowמֵעָלַיme/a/LAYfrom meאֶת־הַכּוֹסet-hak/KOSthe cupהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאַךְ־לֹאakh-lobut notאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatאֲנִיa/NIIרוֹצֶהro/TSEwantכִּיkibutאִם־אֵתim-etrather whatאֲשֶׁר־אָתָּה׃a/SHER-AT/taYou

    And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

37. 37

    And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?

    שִׁקְדוּshik/DUkeep watchוְהִתְפַּלֲּלוּve/hit/pal/la/LUand prayפֶּן־תָּבֹאוּpen-ta/VO/ulest you comeלִידֵיli/DEinto the hands ofנִסָּיוֹןnis/sa/YONtemptationהֵןhenbeholdהָרוּחַha/RU/achthe spiritהִיאhiit isחֲפֵצָהcha/fe/TSAwillingוְהַבָּשָׂרve/hab/ba/SARbut the fleshרָפֶה׃ra/FEis weak

    Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

    וַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againלָסוּרla/SURhe turned asideוַיִּתְפַּלֵּלvay/yit/pal/LELand prayedבְּאׇמְרוֹbe/om/ROsayingעוֹד־הַפַּעַםod-hap/PA/amagainכַּדְּבָרִיםkad/de/va/RIMaccording to the wordsהָהֵמָּה׃ha/HEM/mathose

    And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.

40. 40

    וַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand he returnedוַיִּמְצָאֵםvay/yim/tsa/EMand found themשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainיְשֵׁנִיםye/she/NIMsleepingכִּיkiforעֵינֵיהֶםe/ne/HEMtheir eyesכְּבֵדוֹתke/ve/DOTwere heavyוְלֹאve/LOand notיָדְעוּya/de/Uthey knewמַה־יַּעֲנֻהוּ׃ma-ya/a/nu/HUwhat to answer him

    And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.

41. 41

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he cameפַּעַםPA/ama timeשְׁלִישִׁיתshe/li/SHITthirdוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themנוּמוּnu/MUsleepעוֹדodstillוְנוּחוּve/nu/CHUand restרַבravit is enoughכִּי־בָאָהki-VA/afor has comeהַשָּׁעָהhash/sha/Athe hourהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdבֶן־הָאָדָםven-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of manנִמְסָרnim/SARis deliveredבִּידֵיbi/DEinto the hands ofחַטָּאִים׃chat/ta/IMsinners

    And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

    Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.

    עוֹדֶנּוּo/DEN/nuwhile he was stillמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERspeakingוִיהוּדָהVi/hu/DAand Judasבָאvacameוְהוּאve/HUand he isאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִשְּׁנֵים־הֶעָשָׂרmish/she/NEM-he/a/SARof the twelveוְעִמּוֹve/im/MOand with himהָמוֹןha/MONa crowdרַבravgreatבַּחֲרָבוֹתba/cha/ra/VOTwith swordsוּבְמַקְלוֹתu/ve/mak/LOTand with clubsמֵאֵתme/ETfromרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַסּוֹפְרִיםve/has/sof/RIMand the scribesוְהַזְּקֵנִים׃ve/haz/ze/ke/NIMand the elders

    And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.

44. 44

    וְהַמּוֹסֵרve/ham/mo/SERand he who deliveredאֹתוֹo/TOhimנָתַןna/TANhad givenלָהֶםla/HEMthemאוֹתota signלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomאֶשָּׁקֵהוּesh/sha/ke/HUI kissזֶהzethisהוּאhuis heתִּפְשׂוּtif/SUseizeאֹתוֹo/TOhimוְהוֹלִיכֻהוּve/ho/li/khu/HUand lead himאַל־יִמָּלֵט׃al-yim/ma/LETlet him not escape

    And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.

45. 45

    הוּאhuheבָאvacameוְהוּאve/HUand heנִגַּשׁnig/GASHcame nearאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidרַבִּיrab/BIrabbiרַבִּיrab/BIrabbiוַיְנַשֶּׁק־לוֹ׃vay/nash/SHEK-loand kissed him

    And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.

46. 46

    וַיִּשְׁלְחוּ־בוֹvay/yish/le/CHU-voand they stretched out on himאֶת־יְדֵיהֶםet-ye/de/HEMtheir handsוַיִּתְפְּשֻׂהוּ׃vay/yit/pe/su/HUand seized him

    And they laid their hands on him, and took him.

47. 47

    וְאֶחָדve/e/CHADand oneמִן־הָעֹמְדִיםmin-ha/om/DIMof those standingאֶצְלוֹets/LObeside himשָׁלַףsha/LAFdrewאֶת־חַרְבּוֹet-char/BOhis swordוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand struckאֶת־עֶבֶדet-E/vedthe servant ofהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLhighוַיְקַצֵּץvay/kats/TSETSand cut offאֶת־אׇזְנוֹ׃et-oz/NOhis ear

    And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

48. 48

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themכְּצֵאתke/TSETas one goes outעַל־פָּרִיץal-pa/RITSagainst a robberיְצָאתֶםye/tsa/TEMyou have come outעָלַיa/LAYagainst meבַּחֲרָבוֹתba/cha/ra/VOTwith swordsוּבְמַקְלוֹתu/ve/mak/LOTand with clubsלְתָפְשֵׂנִי׃le/ta/fe/se/NIto seize me

    And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?

49. 49

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iיוֹםyomdayיוֹםyomby dayהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiwasאֶצְלְכֶםets/le/KHEMbeside youמְלַמֵּדme/lam/MEDteachingבַּמִּקְדָּשׁbam/mik/DASHin the templeוְלֹאve/LOand notהֶחֱזַקְתֶּםhe/che/zak/TEMyou took holdבִּיbiof meאֲבָלa/VALbutלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatמְלֹאתme/LOTfulfillדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe words ofהַכְּתוּבִים׃hak/ke/tu/VIMthe scriptures

    I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.

    וַיַּעַזְבוּvay/ya/az/VUand leftאֹתוֹo/TOhimכֻּלָּםkul/LAMall of themוַיָּנוּסוּ׃vay/ya/NU/suand fled

    And they all forsook him, and fled.

51. 51

    וְנַעַרve/NA/arand a young manאֶחָדe/CHADoneהָלַךְha/LAKHwentאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himמְעֻטָּףme/ut/TAFwrappedבְּסָדִיןbe/sa/DINa linen clothלְכַסּוֹתle/khas/SOTto coverאֶת־עֶרְוָתוֹet-er/va/TOhis nakednessוַיֹּאחֲזֻהוּvay/yo/cha/zu/HUand seized himהַנְּעָרִים׃han/ne/a/RIMthe young men

    And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:

52. 52

    וַיַּעֲזֹבvay/ya/a/ZOVand he leftאֶת־הַסָּדִיןet-has/sa/DINthe linen clothבְּיָדָםbe/ya/DAMin their handוַיָּנׇסvay/YA/nosand fledמִפְּנֵיהֶםmip/pe/ne/HEMfrom themעָרֹם׃a/ROMnaked

    And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

53. 53

    וַיּוֹלִיכוּvay/yo/li/KHUand they ledאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַet-Ye/SHU/aJesusאֶל־הַכֹּהֵןel-hak/ko/HENto the priestהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLhighוַיִּקָּהֲלוּvay/yik/ka/ha/LUand gatheredאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himכׇּל־רָאשֵׁיkol-ra/SHEall the chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַזְּקֵנִיםve/haz/ze/ke/NIMand the eldersוְהַסּוֹפְרִים׃ve/has/sof/RIMand the scribes

    And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.

54. 54

    וּפֶטְרוֹסu/Fet/ROSand Peterהָלַךְha/LAKHwentאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himמֵרָחוֹקme/ra/CHOKfrom afarעַד־לַחֲצַרad-la/cha/TSARup to the court ofהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLhighפְּנִימָהpe/NI/mainsideוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand he satשָׁםshamthereעִם־הַמְּשָׁרֲתִיםim-ham/me/sha/ra/TIMwith the attendantsוַיִּתְחַמֵּםvay/yit/cham/MEMand warmed himselfנֶגֶדNE/gedbeforeהָאוּר׃ha/URthe fire

    And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.

55. 55

    וְרָאשֵׁיve/ra/SHEand the chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְכׇל־הַסַּנְהֶדְרִיןve/KHOL-has/san/hed/RINand all the Sanhedrinבִּקְשׁוּbik/SHUsoughtעֵדוּתe/DUTtestimonyעַל־יֵשׁוּעַal-Ye/SHU/aagainst Jesusלַהֲמִיתוֹla/ha/mi/TOto put him to deathוְלֹאve/LOand notמָצָאוּ׃ma/TSA/uthey found

    And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.

56. 56

    כִּיkiforרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyעָנוּa/NUansweredבוֹvoagainst himעֵדוּתe/DUTtestimony ofשָׁקֶרSHA/kerfalsehoodאֲבָלa/VALbutלֹאlonotהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasעֵדוּתָםe/du/TAMtheir witnessמְכֻוֶּנֶת׃me/khuv/VE/netconsistent

    For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.

57. 57

    וַיָּקוּמוּvay/ya/KU/muand roseאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenוַיַּעֲנוּvay/ya/a/NUand answeredבוֹvoagainst himעֵדוּתe/DUTtestimony ofשָׁקֶרSHA/kerfalsehoodלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,

58. 58

    שָׁמַעְנוּsha/MA/nuwe heardאֹתוֹo/TOhimאֹמֵרo/MERsayingאֲנִיa/NIIאֶהֱרֹסe/he/ROSwill tear downאֶת־הַהֵיכָלet-ha/he/KHALthe templeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisמַעֲשֵׂהma/a/SEthe work ofיְדֵיye/DEthe hands ofאָדָםa/DAMmanוְלִשְׁלֹשֶׁתve/lish/LO/shetand in threeיָמִיםya/MIMdaysאֶבְנֶהev/NEI will buildהֵיכָלhe/KHALa templeאַחֵרa/CHERanotherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isאֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nunotמַעֲשֵׂהma/a/SEthe work ofיְדֵיye/DEthe hands ofאָדָם׃a/DAMman

    We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

59. 59

    וְגַם־בָּזֹאתve/GAM-ba/ZOTand even in thisלֹאlonotהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasעֵדוּתָםe/du/TAMtheir witnessמְכֻוֶּנֶת׃me/khuv/VE/netconsistent

    But neither so did their witness agree together.

60. 60

    וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand roseהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLhighוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodבַּתָּוֶךְbat/TA/vekhin the midstוַיִּשְׁאַלvay/yish/ALand askedאֶת־יֵשׁוּעַet-Ye/SHU/aJesusלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהָאֵינְךָha/e/ne/KHAdo you notמֵשִׁיבme/SHIVanswerדָּבָרda/VARa wordמַה־זֶּהma-zewhat is thisאֵלֶּהEL/letheseעֹנִיםo/NIMtestifyבָּךְ׃bakhagainst you

    And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

61. 61

    וְהוּאve/HUbut heהֶחֱרִישׁhe/che/RISHwas silentוְלֹאve/LOand notהֵשִׁיבhe/SHIVansweredדָּבָרda/VARa wordוַיּוֹסֶףvay/YO/sefand againעוֹדodstillהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLhighלִשְׁאֹלlish/OLaskedאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהַאַתָּהha/at/TAare youהוּאhuheהַמָּשִׁיחַham/Ma/SHI/achthe Messiahבֶּן־הַמְבֹרָךְ׃ben-Ham/vo/RAKHthe Son of the Blessed

    But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

62. 62

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֲנִיa/NIIהוּאhuam heוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youתִּרְאוּtir/Uwill seeאֶת־בֶּן־הָאָדָםet-Ben-ha/a/DAMthe Son of manיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVsittingלִימִיןli/MINat the right hand ofהַגְּבוּרָהhag/Ge/vu/RAthe Powerוּבָאu/VAand comingעִם־עַנֲנֵיim-a/na/NEwith the clouds ofהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimheaven

    And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

63. 63

    וַיִּקְרַעvay/yik/RAand toreהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLhighאֶת־בְּגָדָיוet-be/ga/DAYVhis garmentsוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidמַה־לָּנוּma-LA/nuwhat need have weעוֹדodmoreלְבַקֵּשׁle/vak/KESHto seekעֵדִים׃e/DIMwitnesses

    Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?

64. 64

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou have heardאֶת־הַגִּדּוּףet-hag/gid/DUFthe blasphemyמַה־דַּעְתְּכֶםma-da/te/KHEMwhat is your opinionוַיַּרְשִׁיעֻהוּvay/yar/shi/u/HUand they condemned himכֻלָּםkhul/LAMall of themכִּיkithatאִישׁ־מָוֶתish-MA/veta man of deathהוּא׃huis he

    Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

65. 65

    וַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luand beganמֵהֶםme/HEMsome of themלָרֹקla/ROKto spitבּוֹboon himוַיְחַפּוּvay/chap/PUand coveredאֶת־פָּנָיוet-pa/NAYVhis faceוַיַּכֻּהוּvay/yak/KU/huand struck himבְאֶגְרֹףve/eg/ROFwith the fistוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהִנָּבֵאhin/na/VEprophesyוְהַמְשָׁרֲתִיםve/ham/sha/ra/TIMand the attendantsהִכֻּהוּhik/KU/hustruck himעַל־הַלֶּחִי׃al-hal/LE/chion the cheek

    And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.

66. 66

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבִּהְיוֹתbih/YOTwhen wasפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterבְּתַחְתִּיתbe/tach/TITbelow inהֶחָצֵרhe/cha/TSERthe courtוַתָּבֹאvat/ta/VOcameאַחַתa/CHAToneמִשִּׁפְחוֹתmish/shif/CHOTof the maidservants ofהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַגָּדוֹל׃hag/ga/DOLhigh

    And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:

    וַתֵּרֶאvat/TE/reand she sawאֶת־פֶּטְרוֹסet-Pet/ROSPeterכִּיkithatמִתְחַמֵּםmit/cham/MEMwarming himselfהוּאhuhe wasוַתַּבֶּט־בּוֹvat/tab/BET-boand she looked at himוַתֹּאמַרvat/to/MARand saidגַּם־אַתָּהgam-at/TAyou alsoהָיִיתָha/YI/tawereעִם־יֵשׁוּעַim-Ye/SHU/awith Jesusהַנָּצְרִי׃han/Na/tse/RIthe Nazarene

    And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.

    וַיְכַחֵשׁvay/kha/CHESHand he deniedוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֹאlonotאֵדַעe/DAI knowוְלֹאve/LOand notאָבִיןa/VINI understandמָהmawhatאַתְּattyouאֹמָרֶתo/MA/retare sayingוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand he went outהַחוּצָהha/CHU/tsaoutsideאֶל־הָאוּלָםel-ha/u/LAMto the porchוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledהַתַּרְנְגֹל׃hat/tar/ne/GOLthe rooster

    But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.

69. 69

    וַתִּרְאֵהוּvat/tir/E/huand saw himהַשִּׁפְחָהhash/shif/CHAthe maidservantוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidעוֹדodagainאֶל־הָעֹמְדִיםel-ha/om/DIMto those standingשָׁםshamthereזֶהzethisהוּאhuisאֶחָדe/CHADoneמֵהֶם׃me/HEMof them

    And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.

    וַיְכַחֵשׁvay/kha/CHESHand he deniedפַּעַםPA/ama timeשֵׁנִיתshe/NITsecondוּמְעַטu/me/ATand a littleאַחֲרֵי־כֵןa/cha/RE-khenafterwardגַּם־הָעֹמְדִיםgam-ha/om/DIMalso those standingשָׁםshamthereאָמְרוּa/me/RUsaidאֶל־פֶּטְרוֹסel-Pet/ROSto Peterאׇמְנָםom/NAMtrulyאַתָּהat/TAyou areאֶחָדe/CHADoneמֵהֶםme/HEMof themכִּיkiforאַף־גְּלִילִיaf-Ge/li/LIeven a Galileanאַתָּהat/TAyou areוּלְשׁוֹנְךָu/le/shon/KHAand your tongueכִּלְשׁוֹנָם׃kil/sho/NAMis like their tongue

    And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilæan, and thy speech agreeth thereto.

    וַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland he beganלְהַחֲרִיםle/ha/cha/RIMto curseאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹet-naf/SHOhimselfוּלְהִשָּׁבֵעַu/le/hish/sha/VE/aand to swearלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹאlonotיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knowאֶת־הָאִישׁet-ha/ISHthe manהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomדִּבַּרְתֶּם׃dib/bar/TEMyou spoke of

    But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.

    וְהַתַּרְנְגֹלve/hat/tar/ne/GOLand the roosterקָרָאka/RAcalledפַּעַםPA/ama timeשֵׁנִיתshe/NITsecondוַיִּזְכֹּרvay/yiz/KORand rememberedפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאָמַר־לוֹa/MAR-losaid to himיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusבְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembeforeיִקְרָאyik/RAcallsהַתַּרְנְגֹלhat/tar/ne/GOLthe roosterפַּעֲמַיִםpa/a/MA/yimtwiceתְּכַחֵשׁte/kha/CHESHyou will denyבִּיbimeשָׁלֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeפְּעָמִיםpe/a/MIMtimesוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand he setעַל־לִבּוֹal-lib/BOon his heartוַיֵּבְךְּ׃vay/YEVKand wept

    And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
