1. 1

   וַיְהִיAnd whenכַּאֲשֶׁרwhenקָרְבוּthey came nighלִירוּשָׁלַיִםto Jerusalem,אֶל־בֵּית־פַּגֵּיunto Bethphageוּבֵית־הִינִיand Bethany,אֶל־הַרat the mount ofהַזֵּיתִיםOlives,וַיִּשְׁלַחhe sendeth forthשְׁנַיִםtwoמִתַּלְמִידָיו׃of his disciples,

   And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,

2. 2

   וַיֹּאמֶרAnd saithאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,לְכוּGo your wayאֶל־הַכְּפָרinto the villageאֲשֶׁרwhich isמִמּוּלְכֶםover against you:וְהָיָהandכְּבֹאֲכֶםas soon as you be enteredשָׁמָּהinto it,וּמְצָאתֶםyou shall findעַיִרa coltאָסוּרtied,אֲשֶׁרwhereonלֹא־יָשַׁבnever satעָלָיוupon itאָדָםa man;אוֹתוֹitהַתִּירוּloose,וְהָבִיאוּ׃and bring him.

   And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

   וְכִי־יֹאמַרAnd if shall sayאֲלֵיכֶםunto you,אִישׁany manלָמָּהWhyתַעֲשׂוּdo youזֹאתthis?וַאֲמַרְתֶּםsay youהָאָדוֹןthat the Lordצָרִיךְhath need ofלוֹhim;וְהוּאandמַהֵרstraightwayיְשַׁלְּחֶנּוּhe will send himהֵנָּה׃hither.

   And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.

4. 4

   וַיֵּלְכוּAnd they went their way,וַיִּמְצְאוּand foundהָעַיִרthe coltאָסוּרtiedאֶל־הַשַּׁעַרby the doorבַּחוּץwithoutעַל־אֵםin a place whereהַדָּרֶךְtwo ways met;וַיַּתִּירוּהוּ׃and they loose him.

   And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.

   וַאֲנָשִׁיםAnd certainמִן־הָעֹמְדִיםof them that stoodשָׁםthereאָמְרוּsaidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,מַה־זֹאתWhatעֲשִׂיתֶםdo you,לְהַתִּירloosingאֶת־הָעָיִר׃the colt?

   And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?

6. 6

   וַיֹּאמְרוּAnd they saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto themכַּאֲשֶׁרeven asצִוָּהhad commanded:יֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיַּנִּיחוּand they letלָהֶם׃them go.

   And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.

7. 7

   וַיָּבִיאוּAnd they broughtאֶת־הָעַיִרthe coltאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַto Jesus,וַיָּשִׂימוּand castעָלָיוon him;אֶת־בִּגְדֵיהֶםtheir garmentsוַיֵּשֶׁבand he satעָלָיו׃upon him.

   And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.

8. 8

   וְרַבִּיםAnd manyפָּרְשׂוּspreadאֶת־בִּגְדֵיהֶםtheir garmentsעַל־הַדָּרֶךְin the way:וַאֲחֵרִיםand othersכָּרְתוּcut downעֲנָפִיםbranchesמִן־הָעֵצִיםoff the trees,וַיִּשְׁטְחוּand strawed themעַל־הַדָּרֶךְ׃in the way.

   And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.

9. 9

   וְהַהֹלְכִיםAnd they that wentלְפָנָיוbefore,וְאַחֲרָיוand they that followed,צָעֲקוּcried,לֵאמֹרsaying,הוֹשַׁע־נָאHosanna;בָּרוּךְBlessedהַבָּאis he that comethבְּשֵׁםin the name ofיְהוָֹה׃the Lord:

   And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:

10. 10

    בְּרוּכָהBlessed beמַלְכוּתthe kingdom ofדָּוִדDavid,אָבִינוּour fatherהַבָּאָהthat comethבְּשֵׁםin the name ofיְהוָֹהthe Lord:הוֹשַׁע־נָאHosannaבַּמְּרוֹמִים׃in the highest.

    Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

11. 11

    וַיָּבֹאAnd enteredיֵשׁוּעַJesusיְרוּשָׁלַיִםinto Jerusalem,אֶל־בֵּיתand intoהַמִּקְדָּשׁthe temple:וַיַּרְאand when he had looked round aboutוַיִּתְבּוֹנֵןand consideredעַל־הַכֹּלall things,וְהַיּוֹםand now the dayרָפָהdeclinedלַעֲרוֹבtoward evening,וַיֵּצֵאhe went outאֶל־בֵּית־הִינִיunto Bethanyעִם־שְׁנֵים־הֶעָשָׂר׃with the twelve.

    And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.

12. 12

    וַיְהִיAndמִמׇּחֳרָתon the morrow,בְּצֵאתָםwhen they were comeמִבֵּית־הִינִיfrom Bethany,וַיִּרְעָב׃he was hungry:

    And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:

13. 13

    וַיַּרְאAnd seeingתְּאֵנָהa fig treeמֵרָחוֹקafar offוְלָהּhavingעָלִיםleaves,וַיָּבֹאhe came,לִרְאוֹתif haplyהֲיִמְצָא־בָהּhe might findפְּרִיany thing thereon:וַיִּקְרַבand when he cameאֵלֶיהָto it,וְלֹא־מָצָאhe found nothingבָהּthereonכִּיbutאִם־עָלִיםleaves;כִּיforלֹאnot yetהָיְתָהwasעֵתthe time ofתְּאֵנִים׃figs.

    And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.

14. 14

    וַיַּעַןAnd answeredוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלֶיהָunto it,מֵעַתָּהhereafterאִישׁNo manאַל־יֹאכַלeatפְּרִיfruitמִמֵּךְof youעַד־עוֹלָםfor ever.וַיִּשְׁמְעוּAnd heard it.תַּלְמִידָיו׃his disciples

    And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

15. 15

    וַיָּבֹאוּAnd they comeיְרוּשָׁלָיִםto Jerusalem:וַיָּבֹאand wentיֵשׁוּעַJesusאֶל־בֵּיתintoהַמִּקְדָּשׁthe temple,וַיָּחֶלand beganלְגָרֵשׁto cast outמִשָּׁםthenceאֶת־הַמּוֹכְרִיםthem that soldוְאֶת־הַקּוֹנִיםand boughtבַּמִּקְדָּשׁin the temple,וְאֶת־שֻׁלְחֲנוֹתand the tables ofהַשֻּׁלְחָנִיםthe moneychangers,וְאֶת־מוֹשְׁבוֹתand the seats ofמֹכְרֵיthem that soldהַיּוֹנִיםdoves;הָפָךְ׃he overthrew;

    And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;

16. 16

    וְלֹאAnd would notהִנִּיחַsufferלְאִישׁthat any manלָשֵׂאתshould carryכְּלִיany vesselדֶּרֶךְthroughהַמִּקְדָּשׁ׃the temple.

    And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.

17. 17

    וַיְלַמֵּדAnd he taught,וַיֹּאמֶרsayingלָהֶםunto them,הֲלֹאIs it notכָתוּבwritten,כִּיthatבֵיתִיMy houseבֵּיתthe house ofתְּפִלָּהprayerיִקָּרֵאshall be calledלְכׇל־הָעַמִּיםof all nations?וְאַתֶּםbut youעֲשִׂיתֶםhave madeאֹתוֹitמְעָרַתa den ofפָּרִיצִים׃thieves.

    And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

18. 18

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּAnd heard it,הַסּוֹפְרִיםthe scribesוְרָאשֵׁיand chiefהַכֹּהֲנִיםpriestsוַיִּתְנַכְּלוּand soughtאֹתוֹagainst himלְהַשְׁמִידוֹhow they might destroy him:כִּיforיָרְאוּthey fearedמִפָּנָיוhim,יַעַןbecauseאֲשֶׁרthatכׇּל־הָעָםall the peopleמִשְׁתּוֹמְמִיםwas astonishedעַל־תּוֹרָתוֹ׃at his doctrine.

    And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.

19. 19

    וַיְהִיAnd whenבָּעָרֶבeven was come,וַיֵּצֵאhe went outאֶל־מִחוּץofלָעִיר׃the city.

    And when even was come, he went out of the city.

20. 20

    וַיְהִיAndהֵםas theyעֹבְרִיםpassed byבַּבֹּקֶרin the morning,וַיִּרְאוּthey sawאֶת־הַתְּאֵנָהthe fig treeכִּיhow itיָבְשָׁהdried upמִשׇּׁרָשֶׁיהָ׃from the roots.

    And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

21. 21

    וַיִּזְכֹּרAnd calling to remembranceפֶּטְרוֹסPeterוַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֵלָיוunto him,רַבִּיMaster,הִנֵּהbehold,הַתְּאֵנָהthe fig treeאֲשֶׁרwhichאֵרַרְתָּהּyou cursedstיָבֵשָׁה׃is withered away.

    And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.

22. 22

    וַיַּעַןAnd answeringיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,תְּהִי־נָאHaveבָכֶםyouאֱמוּנַתfaith inאֱלֹהִים׃God.

    And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23. 23

    כִּי־אָמֵןFor verilyאֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIלָכֶםunto you,כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרThat whosoeverיֹאמַרshall sayאֶל־הָהָרunto mountain,הַזֶּהthisהִנָּשֵׂאBe you removed,וְהֵעָתֵקand be you castאֶל־תּוֹךְintoהַיָּםthe sea;וְאֵיןand shall notסָפֵקdoubtבִּלְבָבוֹin his heart,כִּיbutאִם־יַאֲמִיןshall believeכִּיthatיֵעָשֶׂהshall come to pass;דְבָרוֹthose things which he saithכֵּן־יִהְיֶה־לּוֹhe shall haveכַּאֲשֶׁרwhatsoeverאָמָר׃he saith.

    For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24. 24

    עַל־כֵּןThereforeאֲנִיIאֹמֵרsayלָכֶםunto you,כֹּלWhat things soeverאֲשֶׁרthatתִּשְׁאֲלוּyou desire,בִתְפִלַּתְכֶםwhen you pray,הַאֲמִינוּbelieveכִּיthatתִקָּחוּyou receive them,וִיהִיand you shall haveלָכֶם׃them.

    Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

25. 25

    וְכִיAnd whenתַעַמְדוּyou standלְהִתְפַּלֵּלpraying,תִּמְחֲלוּforgive,לְכׇל־אִישׁto any manאֵת־אֲשֶׁרaught that you haveבִּלְבַבְכֶםin your heartעָלָיוagainst him,לְמַעַןthatיִסְלַחmay forgiveאֲבִיכֶםyour Fatherשֶׁבַּשָּׁמַיִםwhich is in heavenגַּם־הוּאalsoלְפִשְׁעֵיכֶם׃you your trespasses.

    And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

26. 26

    וְאַתֶּםButאִם־לֹאif you do notתִמְחֲלוּforgive,אַף־אֲבִיכֶםneither will your Fatherשֶׁבַּשָּׁמַיִםwhich is in heavenלֹא־יִסְלַחforgiveלְפִשְׁעֵיכֶם׃your trespasses.

    But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

27. 27

    וַיָּשׁוּבוּAnd they come againוַיָּבֹאוּand cameיְרוּשָׁלָיִםto Jerusalem:וַיְהִיand asהוּאheמִתְהַלֵּךְwas walkingבַּמִּקְדָּשׁin the temple,וַיָּבֹאוּthere comeאֵלָיוto himרָאשֵׁיthe chiefהַכֹּהֲנִיםpriests,וְהַסּוֹפְרִיםand the scribes,וְהַזְּקֵנִים׃and the elders,

    And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,

28. 28

    וַיֹּאמְרוּAnd sayאֵלָיוunto him,בְּאֵי־זוֹBy whatרְשׁוּתauthorityאַתָּהyouעֹשֶׂהdoestאֵלֶּהthese things?וּמִיand whoנָתַןgaveלְךָyouאֶת־הָרְשׁוּתauthorityהַזֹּאתthisלַעֲשׂוֹתto doאֶת־אֵלֶּה׃these things?

    And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?

29. 29

    וַיַּעַןAnd answeredיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,גַּם־אֲנִיI will alsoאֶשְׁאֲלָהaskאֶתְכֶםof youדָּבָרquestion,אֶחָדoneוְאַתֶּםandהֲשִׁיבוּנִיanswer me,וְאֹמַרand I will tellלָכֶםyouבְּאֵי־זוֹby whatרְשׁוּתauthorityאֲנִיIעֹשֶׂהdoאֵלֶּה׃these things.

    And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

30. 30

    טְבִילַתThe baptism ofיוֹחָנָןJohn,הֲמִשָּׁמַיִםfrom heavenהָיָתָהwas it,אִם־מִבְּנֵיor ofאָדָםmen?הֲשִׁיבוּנִי׃answer me.

    The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.

31. 31

    וַיִּוָּעֲצוּAnd they reasonedיַחְדָּוwith themselves,לֵאמֹרsaying,אִם־נֹאמַרIf we shall say,מִשָּׁמַיִםFrom heaven;יֹאמַרhe will say,מַדּוּעַWhyאֵפוֹאthenלֹאnotהֶאֱמַנְתֶּםdid you believeבּוֹ׃him?

    And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?

32. 32

    אוֹButהֲנֹאמַרif we shall say,מִבְּנֵי־אָדָםOf men;וַיִּירְאוּthey fearedאֶת־הָעָםthe people:כִּי־כֻלָּםfor all menחָשְׁבוּcountedאֶת־יוֹחָנָןJohn,לְנָבִיאthat he was a prophetבֶּאֱמֶת׃indeed.

    But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.

33. 33

    וַיַּעֲנוּAnd they answeredוַיֹּאמְרוּand saidאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַunto Jesus,לֹאWe cannotיָדָעְנוּtell.וַיַּעַןAnd answeringיֵשׁוּעַJesusוַיֹּאמֶרsaithאֲלֵיהֶםunto them,אִם־כֵּןThenגַּם־אֲנִיIלֹאneitherאֹמַרtellלָכֶםyouבְּאֵי־זוֹby whatרְשׁוּתauthorityאֲנִיIעֹשֶׂהdoאֵלֶּה׃these things.

    And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.
