   And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judæa by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.

   וַיִּגְּשׁוּvay/yig/ge/SHUand came nearאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהַפְּרוּשִׁיםhap/Pe/ru/SHIMthe Phariseesלְנַסּוֹתוֹle/nas/so/TOto test himוַיִּשְׁאָלֻהוּvay/yish/a/lu/HUand asked himוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidהֲמֻתָּרha/mut/TARis it lawfulלְאִישׁle/ISHfor a manלְשַׁלַּחle/shal/LACHsend awayאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹ׃et-ish/TOhis wife

   And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.

3. 3

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themמַה־צִּוָּהma-tsiv/VAwhat commandedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouמֹשֶׁה׃Mo/SHEMoses

   And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?

   וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesהִנִּיחַhin/NI/achsufferedלִכְתֹּבlikh/TOVto writeסֵפֶרSE/fera scroll ofכְּרִיתֻתke/ri/TUTdivorceוּלְשַׁלְּחָהּ׃u/le/shal/le/CHAand to send her away

   And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofקְשִׁיke/SHIthe hardness ofלְבַבְכֶםle/vav/KHEMyour heartכָּתַבka/TAVhe wroteלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youאֶת־הַמִּצְוָהet-ham/mits/VAthe commandmentהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

   And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

6. 6

   אֲבָלa/VALbutמֵרֵאשִׁיתme/re/SHITfrom the beginning ofהַבְּרִיאָהhab/be/ri/Athe creationזָכָרza/KHARmaleוּנְקֵבָהu/ne/ke/VAand femaleבָּרָאba/RAcreatedאֹתָםo/TAMthemאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

   But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

7. 7

   עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeיַעֲזׇב־אִישׁya/a/ZOV-isha man will leaveאֶת־אָבִיוet-a/VIVhis fatherוְאֶת־אִמּוֹve/ET-im/MOand his motherוְדָבַקve/da/VAKand clingבְּאִשְׁתּוֹ׃be/ish/TOto his wife

   For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

8. 8

   וְהָיוּve/ha/YUand will beשְׁנֵיהֶםshe/ne/HEMthe two of themלְבָשָׂרle/va/SARfleshאֶחָדe/CHADoneוְאִם־כֵּןve/IM-kenand if soאֵפוֹאe/FOthenאֵינָםe/NAMthey are notעוֹדodanymoreשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimtwoכִּיkibutאִם־בָּשָׂרim-ba/SARrather fleshאֶחָד׃e/CHADone

   And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

9. 9

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־חִבַּרet-a/SHER-chib/BARwhat has joinedאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלֹאlonotיַפְרִידֶנּוּyaf/ri/den/NUlet separate itאָדָם׃a/DAMman

   What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

10. 10

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּבָּיִתbab/BA/yitin the houseוַיָּשׁוּבוּvay/ya/SHU/vuand returnedתַלְמִידָיוtal/mi/DAYVhis disciplesלִשְׁאֹלlish/OLto askאֹתוֹo/TOhimעַל־זֹאת׃al-zotabout this

    And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.

11. 11

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהַמְשַׁלֵּחַham/shal/LE/achwhoever sends awayאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹet-ish/TOhis wifeוְלֹקֵחַve/lo/KE/achand takesאַחֶרֶתa/CHE/retanotherנֹאֵףno/EFcommits adulteryהוּאhuheעָלֶיהָ׃a/LE/haagainst her

    And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

12. 12

    וְאִשָּׁהve/ish/SHAand a womanכִּיkiifתְשַׁלַּחte/shal/LACHsends awayאֶת־אִישָׁהּet-i/SHAher husbandוְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand becomesלְאִישׁle/ISHto a manאַחֵרa/CHERanotherנֹאֶפֶתno/E/fetcommits adulteryהִיא׃hishe

    And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

13. 13

    וַיָּבִיאוּvay/ya/VI/uand they broughtאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיְלָדִיםye/la/DIMchildrenלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיִגַּעyig/GAhe might touchבָּהֶםba/HEMthemוַיִּגְעֲרוּvay/yig/a/RUand rebukedהַתַּלְמִידִיםhat/tal/mi/DIMthe disciplesבַּמְּבִיאִיםbam/me/vi/IMthose who broughtאֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

14. 14

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֵּרַעvay/YE/raand it displeasedלוֹlohimמְאֹדme/ODmuchוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themהַנִּיחוּhan/NI/chuletלַיְלָדִיםlay/la/DIMthe childrenלָבוֹאla/VOcomeאֵלַיe/LAYto meוְאַל־תִּמְנָעוּםve/AL-tim/na/UMand do not hinder themכִּיkiforלְאֵלֶּהle/EL/leto suchמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

    אָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכֹּלkolallאֲשֶׁר־לֹאa/SHER-lowho does notיְקַבֵּלye/kab/BELreceiveאֶת־מַלְכוּתet-mal/KHUTthe kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodכַּיֶּלֶדkay/YE/ledlike a childלֹא־יָבֹאlo-ya/VOwill not enterבָהּ׃vait

    Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

16. 16

    וַיְחַבְּקֵםvay/chab/be/KEMand he embraced themוַיָּשֶׁתvay/YA/shetand putיָדָיוya/DAYVhis handsעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themוַיְבָרֲכֵם׃vay/va/ra/KHEMand blessed them

    And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

17. 17

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבְּצֵאתוֹbe/tse/TOas he went outלַדֶּרֶךְlad/DE/rekhon the roadוְהִנֵּה־אִישׁve/hin/NE-ishand behold a manרָץratsrunningלִקְרָאתוֹlik/ra/TOto meet himוַיִּכְרַעvay/yikh/RAand kneltלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himוַיִּשְׁאַלvay/yish/ALand askedאוֹתוֹo/TOhimלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingרַבִּיrab/BIrabbiהַטּוֹבhat/TOVgoodמָהmawhatאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEshall I doוְאִירַשׁve/i/RASHand I may inheritחַיֵּיchay/YEthe life ofעוֹלָם׃o/LAMeternity

    And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

18. 18

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyקָרָאתָka/RA/tado you callלִּיlimeטוֹבtovgoodאֵיןenthere is notטוֹבtovgoodכִּיkibutאִםimonlyאֶחָדe/CHADoneוְהוּאve/HUand He isהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

19. 19

    הֵןhenbeholdיָדַעְתָּya/DA/tayou knowאֶת־הַמִּצְוֹתet-ham/mits/VOTthe commandmentsלֹאlonotתִנְאָףtin/AFyou shall commit adulteryלֹאlonotתִרְצָחtir/TSACHyou shall murderלֹאlonotתִגְנֹבtig/NOVyou shall stealלֹא־תַעֲנֶהlo-ta/a/NEyou shall not answerעֵדedas witness ofשָׁקֶרSHA/kerfalsehoodלֹאlonotתַעֲשֹׁקta/a/SHOKyou shall defraudכַּבֵּדkab/BEDhonorאֶת־אָבִיךָet-a/VI/khayour fatherוְאֶת־אִמֶּךָ׃ve/ET-im/ME/khaand your mother

    Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

20. 20

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himרַבִּיrab/BIrabbiאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהet-kol-EL/leall theseשָׁמַרְתִּיsha/MAR/tiI have keptמִנְּעוּרָי׃min/ne/u/RAYfrom my youth

    And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

21. 21

    וַיַּבֶּט־בּוֹvay/yab/BET-boand looked at himיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֶּאֱהָבֵהוּvay/ye/e/ha/VE/huand loved himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאַחַתa/CHATone thingחָסַרְתָּcha/SAR/tayou lackלֵךְlekhgoמְכֹרme/KHORsellאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לְךָet-kol-a/SHER-le/KHAall that you haveוְתֵןve/TENand giveלָעֲנִיִּיםla/a/niy/YIMto the poorוִיהִי־לְךָvi/HI-le/KHAand there will be to youאוֹצָרo/TSARtreasureבַּשָּׁמָיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin heavenוּבוֹאu/VOand comeשָׂאsatake upאֶת־הַצְּלוּבet-hats/tse/LUVthe crossוְלֵךְve/LEKHand goאַחֲרָי׃a/cha/RAYafter me

    Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

22. 22

    וַיֵּצֶר־לוֹvay/YE/tser-loand it distressed himעַל־הַדָּבָרal-had/da/VARat the wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַיֵּעָצֵבvay/ye/a/TSEVand was grievedוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentלוֹlohis wayכִּי־הוֹןki-honfor wealthרַבravmuchהָיָהha/YAwasלוֹ׃loto him

    And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

23. 23

    וַיַּבֵּטvay/yab/BETand lookedיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusסָבִיבsa/VIVaroundוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־תַּלְמִידָיוel-tal/mi/DAYVto his disciplesכַּמָּהkam/MAhowיִקְשֶׁהyik/SHEhard it isלְבַעֲלֵיle/va/a/LEfor those that haveנְכָסִיםne/kha/SIMrichesלָבוֹאla/VOto enterבְּמַלְכוּתbe/mal/KHUTinto the kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

24. 24

    וַיִּבָּהֲלוּvay/yib/ba/ha/LUand were alarmedהַתַּלְמִידִיםhat/tal/mi/DIMthe disciplesעַל־דְּבָרָיוal-de/va/RAYVat his wordsוַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anansweredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themבָּנַיba/NAYmy childrenמֶהmehowקָשֶׁהka/SHEhard it isלַבֹּטְחִיםlab/bot/CHIMfor those who trustעַל־חֵילָםal-che/LAMin their wealthלָבוֹאla/VOto enterאֶל־מַלְכוּתel-mal/KHUTinto the kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

25. 25

    נָקֵלna/KELeasierלַגָּמָלlag/ga/MALfor a camelלַעֲבֹרla/a/VORto passבְּנֶקֶבbe/NE/kevthrough the eye ofהַמַּחַטham/MA/chata needleמִבּוֹאmib/BOthan to enterעָשִׁירa/SHIRa rich manאֶל־מַלְכוּתel-mal/KHUTinto the kingdom ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26. 26

    וַיִּשְׁתּוֹמְמוּvay/yish/tom/MUand they were astonishedעַד־מְאֹדad-me/ODout of measureוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאִישׁisha manאֶל־אָחִיוel-a/CHIVto his brotherוּמִי־אֵפוֹאu/MI-e/FOand who thenיוּכַלyu/KHALcanלְהִוָּשֵׁעַ׃le/hiv/va/SHE/abe saved

    And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?

27. 27

    וַיַּבֶּט־בָּםvay/yab/BET-bamand looked at themיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEwith the sons ofאָדָםa/DAMmenתִּפָּלֵאtip/pa/LEis too hardזֹאתzotthis thingאַךְakhbutלֹאlonotמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMwith Godכִּיkiforמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMwith Godלֹאlonotיִפָּלֵאyip/pa/LEis too hardכׇּל־דָּבָר׃kol-da/VARany thing

    And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

    וַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganפֶּטְרוֹסPet/ROSPeterלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהֵןhenbeholdאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweעָזַבְנוּa/ZAV/nuhave leftאֶת־הַכֹּלet-hak/KOLallוַנֵּלֶךְvan/NE/lekhand wentאַחֲרֶיךָ׃a/cha/RE/khaafter you

    Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאָמֵןa/MENamenאֹמֵרo/MERsayאֲנִיa/NIIלָכֶםla/KHEMto youכִּיkithatאֵיןenthere is notאִישׁisha manאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָזַבa/ZAVhas leftאֶת־בֵּיתוֹet-be/TOhis houseאוֹoorאֶת־אֶחָיוet-e/CHAYVhis brothersאוֹoorאֶת־אַחְיוֹתָיוet-ach/yo/TAYVhis sistersאוֹoorאֶת־אָבִיוet-a/VIVhis fatherאוֹoorאֶת־אִמּוֹet-im/MOhis motherאוֹoorאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹet-ish/TOhis wifeאוֹoorאֶת־בָּנָיוet-ba/NAYVhis childrenאוֹoorאֶת־שְׂדוֹתָיוet-se/do/TAYVhis landsלְמַעֲנִיle/ma/a/NIfor my sakeוּלְמַעַןu/le/MA/anand for the sake ofהַבְּשׂוֹרָה׃hab/be/so/RAthe gospel

    And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,

30. 30

    כִּי־אִםki-imbutיִקַּחyik/KACHhe shall receiveמֵאָהme/Aa hundredשְׁעָרִיםshe/a/RIMmeasuresעַתָּהat/TAnowבַּזְּמַןbaz/ze/MANin the timeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבָּתִּיםbat/TIMhousesוְאַחִיםve/a/CHIMand brothersוַאֲחָיוֹתva/a/cha/YOTand sistersוְאִמּוֹתve/im/MOTand mothersוּבָנִיםu/va/NIMand childrenוְשָׂדוֹתve/sa/DOTand landsבִּרְדִיפוֹתbir/di/FOTwith persecutionsוְלָעוֹלָםve/la/o/LAMand in the worldהַבָּאhab/BAto comeחַיֵּיchay/YEthe life ofעוֹלָם׃o/LAMeternity

    But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

31. 31

    וְאוּלָםve/u/LAMbutרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyמִן־הָרִאשׁוֹנִיםmin-ha/ri/sho/NIMof the firstיִהְיוּyih/YUwill beאַחֲרוֹנִיםa/cha/ro/NIMlastוְהָאַחֲרוֹנִיםve/ha/a/cha/ro/NIMand the lastרִאשׁוֹנִים׃ri/sho/NIMfirst

    But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

32. 32

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand they wereבַדֶּרֶךְvad/DE/rekhon the roadבַּעֲלוֹתָםba/a/lo/TAMgoing upיְרוּשָׁלַיִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemוְיֵשׁוּעַve/Ye/SHU/aand Jesusהוֹלֵךְho/LEKHwas goingלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themוְהֵמָּהve/HEM/maand theyנִבְהָלִיםniv/ha/LIMwere alarmedוְהוֹלְכִיםve/hol/KHIMand goingאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himבַּחֲרָדָהba/cha/ra/DAin tremblingוַיּוֹסֶףvay/YO/sefand he againלָקַחַתla/KA/chattookאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֶת־שְׁנֵים־הֶעָשָׂרet-she/NEM-he/a/SARthe twelveוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto tellלָהֶםla/HEMthemאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatיִקְרֵהוּ׃yik/re/HUwould happen to him

    And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,

33. 33

    לֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuwe areעֹלִיםo/LIMgoing upיְרוּשָׁלָיְמָהYe/ru/sha/la/ye/MAto Jerusalemוּבֶן־הָאָדָםu/VEN-ha/a/DAMand the Son of manיִמָּסֵרyim/ma/SERwill be deliveredלְרָאשֵׁיle/ra/SHEto the chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְלַסּוֹפְרִיםve/las/sof/RIMand to the scribesוְיַרְשִׁיעֻהוּve/yar/shi/u/HUand they will condemn himלָמוּתla/MUTto deathוְיִמְסְרוּve/yim/se/RUand will deliverאֹתוֹo/TOhimלַגּוֹיִם׃lag/Go/YIMto the Gentiles

    Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:

34. 34

    וִיהָתֵלּוּvi/ha/tel/LUand they will mockבוֹvohimוְיַכֻּהוּve/yak/KU/huand strike himבַּשּׁוֹטִיםbash/sho/TIMwith whipsוְיָרֹקּוּve/ya/rok/KUand spitבְּפָנָיוbe/fa/NAYVupon himוִימִיתֻהוּvi/mi/tu/HUand kill himוּבַיּוֹםu/vay/YOMand on the dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיhash/she/li/SHIthirdקוֹםkomriseיָקוּם׃ya/KUMhe will rise

    And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

    וַיִּקְרְבוּvay/yik/re/VUand came nearאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJamesוְיוֹחָנָןve/Yo/cha/NANand Johnבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofזַבְדַּיZav/DAYZebedeeוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidרַבִּיrab/BIrabbiחֲפֵצִיםcha/fe/TSIMdesiringאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuare weשֶׁתַּעֲשֶׂהshet/ta/a/SEthat you doלָנוּLA/nufor usאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatנִשְׁאַלnish/ALwe askמִמֶּךָּ׃mim/MEK/kaof you

    And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themמָה־אִוִּיתֶםma-iv/vi/TEMwhat do you desireכִּי־אֶעֱשֶׂהki-e/e/SEthat I doלָכֶם׃la/KHEMfor you

    And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?

37. 37

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himתְּנָה־לָּנוּte/NA-LA/nugive usלָשֶׁבֶתla/SHE/vetto sitאֶחָדe/CHADoneלִימִינְךָli/mi/ne/KHAat your rightוְאֶחָדve/e/CHADand oneלִשְׂמֹאלְךָlis/mo/le/KHAat your leftבִּכְבוֹדֶךָ׃bikh/vo/DE/khain your glory

    They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.

38. 38

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusלֹאlodo notיְדַעְתֶּםye/da/TEMyou knowאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatשְׁאַלְתֶּםshe/al/TEMyou askהֲתוּכְלוּha/tukh/LUcan youלִשְׁתּוֹתlish/TOTdrinkאֶת־הַכּוֹסet-hak/KOSthe cupאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֲנִיa/NIIשֹׁתֶהsho/TEdrinkוּלְהִטָּבֵלu/le/hit/ta/VELand be baptized withהַטְּבִילָהhat/te/vi/LAthe baptismאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֲנִיa/NIIנִטְבָּל׃nit/BALam baptized

    But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

39. 39

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himנוּכָלnu/KHALwe canוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֶת־הַכּוֹסet-hak/KOSthe cupאֲשֶׁר־אֲנִיa/SHER-a/NIthat Iשֹׁתֶהsho/TEdrinkתִּשְׁתּוּtish/TUyou will drinkוְהַטְּבִילָהve/hat/te/vi/LAand the baptismאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֲנִיa/NIIנִטְבָּלnit/BALam baptizedתִּטָּבֵלוּ׃tit/ta/ve/LUyou will be baptized

    And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

40. 40

    אַךְakhbutשֶׁבֶתSHE/vetsittingלִימִינִיli/mi/NIat my rightוְלִשְׂמֹאלִיve/lis/mo/LIand at my leftאֵיןenis notבְּיָדִיbe/ya/DIin my handלָתֵתla/TETto giveבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERto those whomהוּכַןhu/KHANit is preparedלָהֶם׃la/HEMfor them

    But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

41. 41

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/awhen heardזֹאתzotthisהָעֲשָׂרָהha/a/sa/RAthe tenוַיָּחֵלּוּvay/ya/CHEL/luthey beganלִכְעוֹסlikh/OSto be angryאֶל־יַעֲקֹבel-Ya/a/KOVwith Jamesוְיוֹחָנָן׃ve/Yo/cha/NANand John

    And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.

42. 42

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledלָהֶםla/HEMthemיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאַתֶּםat/TEMyouיְדַעְתֶּםye/da/TEMknowכִּיkithatהַנֶּחֱשָׁבִיםhan/ne/che/sha/VIMthose reckonedלְהִשְׂתָּרֵרle/his/ta/RERto ruleעַל־הַגּוֹיִםal-Hag/go/YIMover the Gentilesהֵםhemtheyרֹדִיםro/DIMruleבָּהֶםba/HEMover themוּגְדוֹלֵיהֶםu/ge/do/le/HEMand their great onesשׁוֹלְטִיםshol/TIMhave powerעֲלֵיהֶם׃a/le/HEMupon them

    But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.

43. 43

    וְלֹאve/LOand notיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill it beכֵןkhensoבְּקִרְבְּכֶםbe/kir/be/KHEMamong youכִּיkibutאִם־הֶחָפֵץim-he/cha/FETSrather whoever desiresלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatבָּכֶםba/KHEMamong youיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beלָכֶםla/KHEMyourלִמְשָׁרֵת׃lim/sha/RETa minister

    But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:

44. 44

    וְהֶחָפֵץve/he/cha/FETSand whoever desiresמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beהָרֹאשׁha/ROSHthe headיִהְיֶהyih/YEwill beעֶבֶדE/vedservantלַכֹּל׃lak/KOLof all

    And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

45. 45

    כִּיkiforבֶן־הָאָדָםven-Ha/a/DAMthe Son of manגַּם־הוּאgam-huhe alsoלֹאlonotבָאvacameלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיְשָׁרֲתוּהוּye/sha/ra/tu/HUthey would serve himכִּיkibutאִםimratherלְשָׁרֵתle/sha/RETto serveוְלָתֵתve/la/TETand to giveאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹet-naf/SHOhis lifeכֹּפֶרKO/fera ransomתַּחַתTA/chatin place ofרַבִּים׃rab/BIMmany

    For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

46. 46

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameיְרִיחוֹYe/ri/CHOto Jerichoוַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּצֵאתוֹke/tse/TOas he went outמִירִיחוֹmI/ri/CHOfrom Jerichoהוּאhuheוְתַלְמִידָיוve/tal/mi/DAYVand his disciplesוַהֲמוֹןva/ha/MONand a crowd ofעַםampeopleרַבravmanyוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdבַּרְטִימַיBar/ti/MAYBartimaeusבֶּן־טִימַיben-Ti/MAYthe son of Timaeusאִישׁisha manעִוֵּרiv/VERblindיָשַׁבya/SHAVsatעַל־יַדal-yadbesideהַדֶּרֶךְhad/DE/rekhthe roadלְבַקֵּשׁle/vak/KESHbeggingצְדָקָה׃tse/da/KAalms

    And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimæus, the son of Timæus, sat by the highway side begging.

47. 47

    וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand he heardכִּיkithatהוּאhuit wasיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusהַנָּצְרִיhan/Na/tse/RIthe Nazareneוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/chelhe beganלִצְעֹקlits/OKto cry outוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusבֶּן־דָּוִדben-Da/VIDson of Davidחׇנֵּנִי׃chon/NE/nihave mercy on me

    And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

48. 48

    וַיִּגְעֲרוּ־בוֹvay/yig/a/RU-voand rebuked himרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyלְהַחֲשֹׁתוֹle/ha/cha/sho/TOto silence himוְהוּאve/HUand heהִרְבָּהhir/BAincreasedעוֹדodmoreלִזְעֹקliz/OKto cry outבֶּן־דָּוִדben-Da/VIDson of Davidחׇנֵּנִי׃chon/NE/nihave mercy on me

    And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

49. 49

    וַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidקִרְאוּ־לוֹkir/U-locall himוַיִּקְרְאוּvay/yik/re/Uand they calledלָעִוֵּרla/iv/VERthe blind manוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himחֲזַקcha/ZAKbe strongקוּםkumriseקָרָא־לָךְ׃ka/RA-lakhhe calls you

    And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

50. 50

    וַיַּשְׁלֵךְvay/yash/LEKHand he threwאֶת־שִׂמְלָתוֹet-sim/la/TOhis garmentמֵעָלָיוme/a/LAYVfrom himוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand roseוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־יֵשׁוּעַ׃el-Ye/SHU/ato Jesus

    And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

51. 51

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמַה־תִּרְצֶהma-tir/TSEwhat do you wantשֶׁאֶעֱשֶׂה־לָּךְshe/e/e/SE-lakhthat I do for youוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהָעִוֵּרha/iv/VERthe blind manאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy Lordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֶרְאֶה׃er/EI may see

    And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52. 52

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלֶךְ־לְךָlekh-le/KHAgoאֱמוּנָתְךָe/mu/na/te/KHAyour faithהוֹשִׁיעָהho/SHI/ahas savedלָּךְlakhyouוּכְרֶגַעu/khe/RE/gaand in a momentנִפְקְחוּnif/ke/CHUwere openedעֵינָיוe/NAYVhis eyesוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterיֵשׁוּעַYe/SHU/aJesusבַּדָּרֶךְ׃bad/DA/rekhon the road

    And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
